Fortified ice wine was yummy
Enjoyed our tasting and the walk around the winery.
Wonderful wines, friendly establishment, knowledgeable staff, great location with a gazebo framed by Sky, Toronto & Lake Ontario. Weddings and special events are available ???? We thoroughly enjoyed our tour ???? Thank you Legend Estates Winery ????
Beautiful vineyard and delicious, unique wine!
Great wines and lovely staff. Had a great wine tasting visit as part of a larger tour. Well worth the visit.
Myself and some ladies did a wine tour for a bachelorette weekend. This was one of our stops. I was not happy with my experience. After the tasting which was very short, a lady in the store was hounding us to buy something. She repeated herself three times. That is not good customer service, in fact this pushes customers away from buying anything. Too be honest the wine was just too dry for my liking, else of course I would support a local shop. My group was so turned off, we didn't even get to see the lake which is why I chose that place.
Very small locally grown and produced reds and whites. Really cool. Wine not to the liking of my pallet.
Legends Winery is situated in the perfect spot - along the lake right along the highway. This is a quick yet perfect stop on your way from Toronto or the GTA to Niagara. The wine is award-winning and the view is outstanding. Our hostess took the time to show us how to correctly taste wine (wish someone told us this on our first stop instead of our third!). She also offered us multiple samplings of their prized wines. We started with the Tattoo Series, created for the 2013 Juno Awards. This sparkling Rose was a great choice to start with. We then moved on to the Diva Series where we tried a white wine. This series quite creative as the Diva Series was created in support of a local Women's Centre. We then moved on to the Dare red wine. The venue was incredible with a waterfront view. The place is perfectly set up for a wedding - including an adorable white gazebo, view of Toronto, and a large tent for weddings to take place under if rain were to come. Inside, you are able to purchase bottles of wines for quite respectable prices. They also provide an ice cream where they partnered with a local goat farmer with their merlot and dark chocolate.
Great customer service, nice property, ice wine is fairly good especially the red. But all the other wine is mediocre at best. They have some speciality fruit wines like cherry and plum, I'll spare you - don't try them. They are horrible. The apple wine made me gag.
Nice place. Considering it is the 3rd largest in Ontario you would think it would be comparable to some of the nicer smaller wineries in the area.
So far, so good! We booked our wedding at Legends for this coming September (2016). Because of the mixed reviews I thought it might be nice to share how the planning experience has been for us so far and help other couples as they decide on a venue. Both Diane and Sylvie have been fantastic. From our initial meeting to my (many) emails with questions, they have been friendly, accommodating and quick to respond. Our food tasting just a few weeks ago went seamlessly. With beautiful plating and attentive servers, my only complaint is that it was hard to choose from so many delicious courses! We are hosting both our ceremony and reception onsite, and look forward to providing a follow-up review after our big day.
They ran an amazing and very informative tasting. The fortified wine was very unique and incredible!
Small store but knowledgeable staff. Trendy looking bottles. Will review the wine after opening.
My husband and I just visited this winery and were very disappointed. The women who “greeted” us was extremely rude and her overall attitude made us feel like we were just an inconvenience instead of customers. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. The wines we tried were mediocre at best.
We had a lovely visit today. We dropped in and were welcomed. Masks were in full use by all. We had a $5 tasting of 3 wines; bought a nice 2012 bottle of wine; and, had a walk down to the lake. It's a peaceful setting and the staff were so nice and informative.
Friendly. Average ice wine and food.
Big selection of 2012 red wines
Horrible experience. Very rude. One older women employee never agnolaged our presence and then gave us attitude when we politly asked if someone could help us. Unacceptable costomer service. I got really mad at how my husband was treated by this person, even if he was very nice with her. We almost walked out and left. Wine was very ordinary. I don't recomend this winery at all. Not worththe stop.
Arrived later in the day but still had time for a nice wine tasting with Calvin before the winery closed. He was very knowledgable and the wines were delicious. A very nice place to visit.
Only gave it 2 stars because the property is beautiful. We were on a tour and only got 2 very small tastings and then ignored. The wine was mediocre at best and service seemed non existent. At least the property was inviting.
Our host Chuck was very informative, very friendly and liberal with the tasting flights. Some terrific wines in stock that aren't available in liquor stores. Definitely worth a visit, but skip the knick knacks you can find much cheaper elsewhere.
I would have not visited had I read some bad review here. Yes indeed, the old lady is extremely rude and has no idea about customer service. She was offended when I said that I didn't quite take interest in their 'award winning' Chardonnay. Tasting is a very personal experience. I was only being honest and not lying about my experience. I would not go there again.
This is a review for a wedding. The winery itself is okay, wines are decent (though overpriced), the setting is beautiful, especially by the water. We got married there in August 2014. Perfect sunny day, great photos, very scenic, etc. The wedding coordinator, Jennifer, was very sweet, understanding and patient with us - we are big fans. Why the two stars? The "kitchen" of this place and the so called "chef" have no idea what is happening. Apparently, they also can't count to 120 - even with 5 no-shows, there was still not a full plate of food for every guest. Some tables were missing meat, other tables were missing the fish, etc. We were lucky in a sense because we got the family style and people were able to share and cut things in half. In my humble opinion, when you pay close to $200 per plate, you should at least not be left hungry. My other star comes off from the owners, their attitude, and absolute lack of concern for their reputation. You paid us the moneys, we'll never see you again, have a nice wedding or don't, because we don't care. True, you don't get married every day but that's not how any business should treat its customers. They have a beautiful venue and they bet on this, so that they can slack on other things, and charge you per every sneeze. The most ridiculous part was probably the pay in full two weeks in advance and no refunds for no-shows policy 'because the chef has already purchased the food' (which you'll never get btw). Or keeping the open bar closed 'because there are plates on the tables' (?!?) hmm. Finally, the DJ, oh Ryan, please never yell in the face of your guests, especially older ladies. Also, don't ask people to give you music if you don't intend on playing it. Overall, we love the winery's location and set up. However, there are major issues with the way they run the wedding business. Unless these are addressed, this beautiful spot will eventually have less and less weddings.
Nice store and property but they wouldn't let us walk down to the lake without buying something. That tells me that the only thing they really care about is money not people.
Wine was Mediocre, and I personally don't like Merlot and they gave us a Merlot without really knowing. Couldn't get the taste out of my mouth for the rest of the Night, until dinner. Not a great selection even with the additional charged 5$ tasting. Property was Beautiful and is the only reason we are giving 3 stars, we got some great pictures.
Very friendly staff, great knowledge of their wines. Property is beautiful and on the lake which they encouraged to take a walk with a glass of wine and explore!!!
Absolutely beautiful vineyards and a great tasting room, very friendly staff..and love their Traminer..we definitely will visit again????
Excellent location just off Qew Ontario St. Exit Beamsville. Head to the lake and your there!
Couldn’t get past the horrible smell.
Couldn’t get past the horrible smell.
Beautiful hidden gem in Beamsville! The winemaker, Serge, shared some spectacular oaked whites with us. Lots of great wines both old and young.
Unfortunate customer service. Older lady at the tasting bar was very rude. Would have tried more wines and made purchases, but we were very put off the attitude of this eployeee. Dissappointing service. Would not recommend. There are lots of great wineries with much better customer service and better wines in the region. Skip this one.
Return visit, such a pretty location.
Cute place. Friendly, knowledgeable staff.
Wine was 5/10 BUT, CHUCK Gave us an aaaamazing Tour. I have been on at least 25-30 different wine tours and tastings and it was absolutely the best one. Because of how good does the tour was with this truck I am going to call ahead ask for him in the future and bring some of my friends and family back. Go - as long as chuck is in.
This was one of the stops on our wine tour. The gentleman who did the tasting was pleasant and friendly. We wandered into the store to look around. The older lady inside has zero customer service skills. She hounded us to purchase something and we ended up leaving without buying anything as we felt uncomfortable. I will say the location itself is nice since it is located right near the water.
Amazing Customer service. I messed up an online order and they came back to me quickly making the change.
Went in to ask some general questions and the girl was extremely rude
Was there during a weekday. Tasted some wines and purchased a few bottles. Of note most Niagara Region wineries charge for their tastings. They used to not charge if you purchased wine pre-covid. Not sure why.
Very nice
I've been to A TONNE of wineries in the Niagara Region and have yet to find one with better customer service, friendly staff and incredibly priced wine!!! My wife and I had an absolutely awesome time from start to finish...if u have a chance to check out LEGENDS you won't regret it!!! Or just figure out a way to make it happen... Cheers Legends Estates Winery, we will be back for sure!!!
Stopped at Legends today for the first time..awesome! We were greeted by the very knowledgeable and personable owner who took the time to answer our many questions and asked question to determine our preferences! We left with over 30 bottles of wine and will definently be ordering more!
My fiancé and I stopped by Legends on the way to NOTL. Not only is the property beautiful - right on the lake! But the wines were delicious too. My favourite was the sparkling rose. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly!
Derek Barnett is a pretentious snob that I am disappointed to see is participating in the Lakeside a la carte event in 2018. He only cares to serve people who look "well heeled" and turns into an absolute a-hole when you don't fawn over his mediocre wine. He was the only blight on the entire event last year.
Beautiful winery, several wine selections. Tried Udderly Good ice cream, vanilla bean & lavender which was delicious. Wine tasting was great, Covid-19 protocols were implemented. I will definitely return.
Wine was horrible, 1 tasted like skunk, the other was just god awful. Couldn’t have more than one sip, ended up throwing the rest on the ground.
Terrible experience during the homegrown wine festival. This was our first stop. Lady didn't even ask which wine we wanted to taste or explain the wines served. Attitude when we asked for a plastic bag when we purchased something. Charged us extra for asking for the red option because she served white without asking. Will NOT go here again!
I visited Legends during the ice wine festival, it was my favourite pairing of the day... the lobster bisque and semillon were perfect. We even stayed and did an additional tasting after, the girl doing the tasting was very knowledgeable about the winemaking process and the history of the winery. I will definitely be going back in the summer.
A wonderful winery on the lake with delicious dry wines and you must try and buy their fortified wines.
