This Winery belongs to the category of Winery.
Some of the best wines I have ever had (including Europe). Their Riesling is to die for. Great tastings with very knowledgeable staff.
They were a bit short with me. Toronto appellation is mostly this way. Closing late at 6 with no customers at 5 makes sense. Maybe they should close earlier in the off season. The wine is inconsistent in Ontario, some quite good, some not so much. As I was recommended by other wineries, Tawes has some big, bold reds! I wouldn't expect them to grow with aging so drink them soon. The older pinot they poured was already turning brown and nose gone. More recent wine was better. The Cab Franc was good.
Enjoyed the wines. Great whites and very good reds. Tasty cider. Sparkling rose was my wife's favorite. Very nice tasting room. Highly recommend.
Had an entertaining and informative personal tour from Christian, who was just lovely. You could tell he really loves his job and that makes all the difference in this industry. Of all five wineries we saw today this was by far the best (their Riesling’s to die for)!
Unreal wines made by great people! P-Squared, what a gem!
Extremely wide range of excellent wines. Professional, knowledgeable and friendly staff. One of my favourite wineries in the region and always on my 'go-to' list when in the area.
I can easily say it is one of the best wineries in the entire Province. I've been to most of them and Tawse makes amazing wine (albeit pricey). You will not taste Pinot Noir or Cab Franc like this anywhere in Ontario. Highly recommend a visit.
Outstanding wines! Terrific venue! Most of all, exceptionally gifted customer service personnel! Can't recommend highly enough, and the vermouth ought to be deemed a "national treasure" - as a proud Canadian I'd put it up against anything from the old world!
Very friendly staff. Very knowledgeable and engaging. The wines were quite diverse and would definitely go back to buy more.
Excellent wines. Haven't visited recently due to COVID but ordered a case of wine and it was delivered the same day!
Wine education class was very informative and fun
Our favourite winery! We've been coming for years and now live down the road but continue to make time to enjoy the amazing wine, the building/staff and the views. They also sell the best, hottest red pepper jelly I've found. The fact that their wine is organic and uses biodynamic practices is amazing!! You appreciate it even more when you see the workers in haz-mat suits come to spray other vineyards.
Had a great experience, beautiful grounds and the wines were great especially loved the tawse 2019 rose and the 2017 estate Chardonnay which had a lovely vanilla note. Helena gave us great service!
An absolutely gorgeous winery, nestled in 20 Bench. The pinot is to die for, full of body, dry, fruity nose... Great staff, great selection, great prices. A must visit for the serious wine drinker. Over 200 barrels aging in the cellar...
The grounds were beautiful and they make a mean cider too!! Not my favorite of the wineries only because the service was a little iffy. We had a hard time getting someone to spend enough time with us to pour our samples and tell us about the wine.
Most excellent Riesling and Rose. Modest prices. Beautiful landscape and interior. Don't miss out on this one!
Ordered wine online from Tawse last week as part of a COVID-gift for my Dad. Promptly delivered, and delicious! We have taken a tour and tasting at Tawse in the past, definitely a must-see winery in the Niagara region, and a perfect stop on a wine tour.
Cathy gave us a great breakdown of all their wines... Got ourselves some great deals on their holiday case sales... Definitely worth the drive to Jordan!
Disinterested servers that don't even rinse or change glasses between tastings, even red to white or to ice wine... It all goes in the same unrinsed glass. Little info given about the wines and extremely small tasting servings compared to other wineries we have been to.
My son and I visited the winery on a suggestion from a gentleman at Red Stone. He had given us a card that allowed us a free tasting at Tawse. We were both very disappointed in the reception and treatment we got at Tawse. The gentleman who served us spent little time telling us about the wines and no time telling us about the winery. We felt very rushed. We were both dressed casually, but well; not that that should make a difference. And honestly, the wine was not as good as the wine at Red Stone, where I actually bought a few bottles. Don’t waste your time.
simply perfect:)
Winery has a good vibe. Impressive architecture as you drive in. Modern and well designed tasting room and shop. Peaceful views of vineyards. A patio to sit and relax. We enjoyed a tasting of the wines. Our server was friendly and knowledgable. The wine quality was very good, a notch above some others in the area in my opinion. Worth a visit.
One of the nicest estates in the niagara region. Beautiful winery/grounds, Very tasty well made wines. If you like burgundy style wines this is the place for you.
(Translated) Super nice tasting with Réal démers, a man of hearts ♥️, he even spoke to us in French, he listened to our preferences and advised us, he told us the story of the wine and the vineyard (Original) Super belle dégustation avec Réal démers, un homme de cœurs ♥️, il nous as même parler en français, il as écouter nos préférence et nous as conseiller , il nous as raconter l histoire du vin et du vignoble
Excellent presentation and comparison event for Pinot Affair.
Good wine, lovely views. Lots of EV charging spots!
Had a great visit to Tawse Winery. Loved the pinot and gammy noir. The sheep are super friendly and love to be pet!
Amazing wines.
We had an extremely unpleasant visit to Tawse Winery. Our “host”, Christian, was extremely rude and spoke to our group in a condescending manner, insinuating that none of us could possibly know anything about wine. At one point, he instructed the group to “sniff the wine like you’re taking a sniff of cocaine”. As a group of young mothers with absolutely no experience with hard drugs, the comment was insulting and embarrassing. Tawse, please consider educating your staff on the importance of treating all customers with respect and dignity.
Love this winery! Their Sketches Riesling is my favourite. Decent service for the tastings. They don’t charge for the tasting if you buy enough wine afterwards!
Lovely wine tasting experience - we all loved Merlot and Cab franc
Staff only criticize other wineries to make themselves feel better. Would have purchased more of their wine before visiting, now I won’t and the visit could have been much better. Look elsewhere.
(Translated) Wonderful place. You can taste and buy good wines! Health, sobriety! (Original) Magnifique endroit. On peut déguster et acheter des bons vins! Santé, sobriété!
Amazing experience all around. The people, environment, facilities, tour, and of course the wine.
Touch expensive, $8 for 3 tastes. Ok wine
Unfortunately really slow and poor service for a wine tasting.
These guys put Niagara wine on the map for me. Excellent Pinot Noir and beautiful property and tasting room.
Beautiful setting.
The gentleman was very kind and helpful. I will diffinately go back.
People often say that Meglomaniac has the best view in 'The Bench' but Tawse has pretty much the same vantage point! Beautiful scenery overlooking Lake Ontario and really nice wines (my favourite is Limestone Ridge North Riesling). We were served by Angela who did a great job answering all of our questions. One thing I really liked about Tawse is the large glass wall inside the shop that shows their winemaking equipment- you can see right into production. I always suggest that people try Tawse now if they're in the area.
Best Pinot Noir in Ontario, winery is stunning and in the same area as Megalomaniac and Vineland Estates... all three are worth the drive Try the Tawse Cherry Hill Pinot Noir... fantastic with Salmon
The owner shows pride of ownership in this property. Heavily influenced by French wineries. Super cute courtyard. Nice wine boutique.
The place is big, the environment is good
What a gorgeous place! Just went to pick up some wine we had had at a restaurant the other week and got to sample a couple of things too. Very helpful and patient staff:) try the Riesling!!
Overpriced for the quality of wine they are making. There are many better options out there.
Award winning Chardonnay. But you have to try their Chardonnay Ice Wine...what a pleasant surprise!
Very professional wine steward. We’ve learned a lot. Very good wine. Reasonable prices.
Great icewines. Beautiful grand estate.
We went there for the wine but ended up loving their specialty spirits. We walked out joyful with a bottle of gin and vermouth that were quite successful!
The wine was ok and the service was about the same.
Beautiful view and an awesome patio. Many good wines, but they can be pricey. Worth the trip for a flight of wine.
Loved the estate!
Love it
Preferred the old set up, was more cozy and reminded me of European wineries. Wines are fine but not my favourite in the Niagara region.
Good wines, nice winery, pleasant experience.
Good wines, nice winery, pleasant experience.
Really cute winery! Only tried a couple of whites: Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc. Recommend the riesling
Try the Cabernet Franc!
Best Icewine ever anywhere.
Beautiful place with great white wines.
The best vineyard ever
The quality is HIGH, it makes me HIGH
Alex gave us a magnificent tour through the estate and introduced to new and exciting wines. I would do that again anytime. Thanks Alex.
Great Vodka.. and jams.. great access to local Bruce Trail.
Best wine in Ontario! And a great estate to stop by and visit.
Knowledgeable Staff, Great Wine Tasting Experience.
Amazing grounds and good wine
Amazing grounds and good wine
I like visiting local winery once i a while. Tawse Winery is a nice place to visit. Ask their very friendly personnel to give you a tour of the facility next time you are around. The winery is running very environmentally friendly operations. ...Maybe that is the reason why the wines are so overpriced... It is very unfortunate that local wines are so expensive. This is the only reason why I give them a 4-star rating. To the owner: Please find a way to drop the price: it make it very hard to buy local wines. Ontario has good (however not the best) wines. And it is the shame that I will buy the wine elsewhere simply because your wine is expensive.
(Translated) The very wonderful wine castle, I recommend it. (Original) Le château du vin tres formidable, je le recommande.
Made me pay extra for a plastic glass to split a glass of wine, even though I had bought a bottle of wine while I was there....come on.
Super guide, friendly, smart and gorgeous ! Great spirits, great concept: save the canadian fruit producers and industry !
Icewine fest with french onion soup
Amazing sparkling product! We had a tasting in one of the cellars. The server was very informative. Along with the sparkling, the Chardonnay ice wine is rare, but amazing!
A more of a boutique winery
Very crisp Riesling and beautiful vineyards compliment the front of the winery. Winery can be busy during the weekend and have limited parking.
Good winery. Decent wines. Great cider. Stop and check them out when your in the Twenty Valley area.
Great to visit on a quiet afternoon. Sampled a fine selection of white and red wines with a detailed explanation of the vineyards from which each vintage had been sourced.
A favorite. Tawse wines are superior and crafted with an attention to the environment that speaks to their dedication to making good while doing good. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Tastings and events are always well organized and make guests feel welcome. They also organize amazing concerts in the backyard of the winery.
Have visited this winery many times and it always delivers. The service is amicable and welcoming, the wines obviously great. My only recommendation is to train better the people that provide the tour, we have had some goods and some quite bad. This really affects the experience, especially for the friends we bring to the winery for the first time.
Wine tastings currently unavailable. Short hours of operation (11am-5pm). Small drink garden to enjoy a glass in. On the plus side, they now distill spirits and sell gin, vodka and bitters. Caesars available, coolers in addition to wine by the glass. Excellent caesar, fantastic rieslings!
Great service Angela Washington really convienient
Always good wine.
Amazing staff, excellent wine and beautiful atmosphere!! Highly recommended!
Wines were better in the past years (2010-11-12 were amazing). Now it's a bit overpriced for quality. The withes are not as good as they were. Had a bad tasting experience last time we went, everything was fine until a non-smiley faced girl picked up our glasses in a rude way and a gray haired guy push off our hostess, and ask us if we wanted something else in way that you understand you won't get anything else ... Even if we only tasted 4 wines (it's 5$ for 3 wines) We miss the enthusiasm and passion of Austin who's left 2 years ago ...
Beautiful location and great selection of wines and cider. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Great wine and friendly staff. Very nice to provide Tesla chargers
I'm more of a beer guy.
Went in with my 2 friends today Rapheal was amazing! Very knowledgeable, invited us to join the wine club and very polite. Will be back again!
My wife and I went there for wine tasting as we are big fans of their Rieslings. Special mention to J.D. for his enthusiasm! Just a suggestion, the place could be structured in terms of instructions for first time customers and where to go or who to see.
Great winary with very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Still need to try their wines but did try their on draft Apple cider which was amazing. Well definitely be back.
Lovely views, very pleasant and knowledgeable staff. Enjoyed the choice of wines.
We went to their icewine festival tasting, good food and Riesling icewine pairing. But the staff there seemed less than enthusiastic, we were the only two person there but he didn't try to make any explanation of the icewine to us. Everyone that worked there seemed that they are just waiting for their day to end.
This review is not for the wine but for the experience itself. Nice outdoor seating area where you can get a glass of wine which is enjoyable. The tasting room is below average, the tastings are really a few drops of wine, barely enough to actually taste. The other wineries were much better. The staff did not tell us about any wines or try to make our experience at all enjoyable. Lack of service will have us not returning or recommending.
Great winery, loved their rose, cab sauv, and they sell bitters too! Friendly knowledge staff, highly recommend this winery!!????
Incontournable dans la région!???? The most beautiful place in the region! Wines are stunning and services is so delicate! Don’t miss it!
Exceptional wines, from their whites, reds, to sparkling wines they always manage to impress. My personal favorites are the 2013 Meritage and Cabernet Franc - Landry. Can't wait to visit again!
We were a group of 6 people at Tawse and Violette was absolutely amazing in giving us a tour of all of the different wines available. She was extremely knowledgeable, funny, friendly and showed a true passion for her work. The wines were very nice as well, we picked up a Cab Franc and a sparkling wine as well as an outstanding icewine. Beautiful surroundings with a gorgeous store! Great experience!
Beautiful place. Stopped in to pickup Cuddy by Tawse Sparkling Riesling for a friend as a special surprise as he missed the Summer Solstice Concert. I was told next time make Jim a priority as it was great!
Wonderful site!
Ridiculously crowded when we went. Good wine but not a great tasting experience.
They have a limited parking space at the front, and unmanaged parking lot at the back. Their wines are not that great, but try their ciders, it was really tasty. Employees were helpful.
Beautiful setting and friendly host
Beautiful spot!! Tried several different wines and they were all great. We're taking home 6 bottles of wine, including 3 reds and my husband is not usually a big fan of red wines.
Very impressed. Stopped in to do some samples for my friends birthday. The gentlemen that served us Raphael was very friendly and knowledgeable. I’m excited for our next visit!
Purchased a bottle of their dry cider from a farmer's market in Toronto. Was in communication with their hospitality staff shortly after, great customer service.
Wonderful tour and tasting at Tawse. Thanks Alex for everything. Very knowledgeable staff and outstanding wines.
Very knowledgeable and personable wine steward. Lovely setting. Organic and bio-dynamic vineyard. Raise sheep and lambs. Learned about icewine for the first time. Liked every wine we tried and went home with the 2012 Robyn's Block Chardonnay. The Twenty Valley vineyard region of Ontario has a great deal to offer.
Loved this experience!! Went as a group of four last year on an independent biking tour and it was AMAZING. Easily the best winery experience we had the entire day. The staff made a concerted effort to make the experience personal (a feature that many surrounding wineries did not). 100% recommend!
We booked a winery tour in advance, and our tour guide,Alex, was awesome. She answered all of our many questions and demonstrated her passion for and knowledge of wine making. I loved learning about the sustainable farming practices at Tawse and their Eco friendly philosophy. And the wines were great too!
Friendly, knowledgeable staff and delicious wines! Thanks Laura
We did a tasting at Tawse on Thursday with John. He was AMAZING!!! It was a lovely intimate experience and he was so knowledgeable and Friendly. If you book a tasting here ask for John, He was seriously the best. The winery is beautiful and we had a great time. I'm obsessed with the orange wine! Can't wait to return :)
Always a good visit. Wine is very good, some wines are more expensive than very good Burgundy Beaune Village wines, but main reason you are going there is for the experience and the tasting room is always a good experience. The staff are very nice and accomodating.
Big property, but the wines were not anything special compared to some other wineries nearby we went to. Service was very rushed and not personalized, either. Definitely not worth a stop with so many other great options around.
These guys were great! We had a horrible experience at Megalomaniac Wines and came here right after. What a difference! The staff at Tawse was friendly, they were knowledgeable, and they helped us find the right types of wines based on our preferences. Highly recommend!
Wonderful visit..such friendly knowledgeable staff
We were really excited to visit Tawse, as we’ve visited several times in the past and have always had a positive experience. We were disappointed with our visit this time, as the individual hosting our tasting generally seemed disinterested in sharing information about the wines, and in serving us. She was clearly knowledgeable, as she provided excellent service to the visitors next to us. The individual hosting our tasting was Trina. Sad.
Tawse Winery was a spectacular experience. Their garden provided a beautiful ambiance for the tasting of their great wines. Filled with social distanced tables and chairs, lush greenery and grand foundations- what more can one ask for? Highly recommended!
Exceptional grounds and amazing wines.
Amazing wines. So knowledgeable and helpful Great wine recommendations
Great wine, amazing views, service a little slow today
we enjoyed tasting some of the sparkling wines, lovely location and friendly staff
Friendly staff and beautiful property!
The best wines in the country
Knowledgeable Staff in a beautiful winery. Great tasting wines although some are over priced when comparing to orher wineries in the region / on the bench. Especially enjoyed the rose
I have been here a couple of times, really good ice wine. Next time I'll go to Canada I will definitely go here again and by some good wine for myself and some presents for friends. Can't find where to by there wine on the internet for overseas shipping.
Tawse hosted a wine-tasting for our corporate group. Great staff, very friendly & knowledgeable and beautiful location. Highly recommended.
Beautiful facility and very attentive and enlightening staff. We were smitten by their product at the wine tasting dinner at AG Inspired Cuisine last night.
Fantastic
Really nice setting, very informative and friendly tour from Gareth, who I could not recommend highly enough!
Went for our second winery tasting here. They had a great food and wine package that fit perfectly to our valentines day date. Greaat knowledgeable staff along with a cool atmosphere. Prices were very reasonable too for bottles of wine.
