We had supper at Ragged Rocks a couple nights ago while visiting Bonavista. I messaged the night before asking if I could make a reservation. They said they don’t take reservations, but I mentioned that I’m a wheelchair user and it’s hard to find somewhere to eat so they made an exception for us. I also asked if our server could wear a mask because I’m medically vulnerable and would like that extra protection while I’m eating and can’t wear my own. So when we showed up for supper, all of the servers put masks on while we were there which made me feel safe and cared for. I have food allergies that they were awesome about and they worked with my dietary restrictions to ensure I had a delicious meal that wouldn’t make me sick. I had the salmon bowl and it was great. I also had a strawberry rhubarb mojito which was so good! In terms of accessibility, it was pretty great. We parked in an accessible spot next door, there was a ramp up the side of the building, lots of room to maneuver my wheelchair inside and the washroom was decently accessible. Only issue was how heavy the side door and washroom door were. Overall though, I loved it there and would return. Amazing service and food.

Starting with the good stuff: the atmosphere was really great. Large drink menu, cool fancy mixed drinks. Friendly servers. Bad stuff: we never got to see much of our servers. Our server left after taking the order and at that point it seemed like we were forgotten about. After an hour we got an update from another really nice server who told us our food was on the way. She also refreshed our drinks at that point. The food came out eventually but wasn't anything to write home about. The new server said the kitchen was short staffed, but tables who ordered well after us got their food quickly. I imagine that might be a result of being forgotten. All in all, I'd say we are probably an outlier, but our personal experience wasn't very good.

By far the best seafood chowder I have had in a while. Big chunks of cod and salmon, plent of shrimp and scallops too! Delicious! Also tried the cod bites and fries from my husbands plate and got to say very very good. The place is lovely and the service was top notch!

Spent two night in Bonavista on Labour Day weekend. Enjoyed supper at this place so much that I went back for the second night too. Service was amazing, great people, friendly. In-house specialty drinks and desserts. Food was pretty good as well, but I would return just for the service and atmosphere.

Family of 4 had wonderful dinner there yesterday. Mojito drinks and cold Coors Light was nice starter.....no appetizers but had wonderful meal of Salmon and ribs....food was delicious. Price was reasonable. Server, Ken, was super!

Enjoyed a delicious dinner at this spot! No live music due to covid and the storm but they did have a great playlist going. We had the crab dip, and daily special which was wings and beer deals! Oh and I have to add, the drinks were superb! I have to go back to try their amazing homemade deserts that change every day. Highly recommend, this spot is hopping!

We were staying outside Bonavista and went in to check the town out as it was too wet to go hiking! Stopped at the Ragged Rocks and knew we picked a great spot as soon as we entered. We had an amazing chowder, scallop toutons and yummy caesars and tunes to boot! The young (gone to play hockey now) bartender was super friendly so we went back the next night for our supper. Cod was amazing (I had cod everyday on our 10 day visit lol) Our server that night (young lady off to nursing school now) was also so nice and super friendly. We sat at the bar both nights which we love to do to get a feel for a place. We will definitely go here again the next time we are in Bonavista! Friendly, cozy, inviting and delicious! Great atmosphere! But the service from the young staff did it for us!!

Love LOVE this place. Such great service amd staff.food great too but not my kinda wings.. I like mine done in the sauce... not for dipping in sauce but everything else I love. Non alcoholic drink choices are the BEST I've ever had, better than in the city even!!! Kiddos to ALL the staff :)

Staff were super friendly and accommodating and the space itself was lovely. Had a shareable lunch with beverages. The nachos were delicious, think they use their own BBQ sauce. Would have preferred red, green or even sweet onion instead of the yellow onions on the nachos. We both had the strawberry rhubarb mojito, delicious beverage, but not sure you can call it a mojito when you use egg whites and leave out the fresh mint. But nevertheless, it is a delicious drink and deserves it's own name. Ended off with house made cinnamon roll with the tasty addition of apple. Definitely worth the visit!! Maybe next time we won't share. Lol

It was busy, but as someone who worked in hospitality for over 10 years, that's no excuse for poor service or food. Very unorganized, no sign of management. Loud. No drinks menu or condiments brought out. Food was sub par. As a celiac, I was happy to see a GF menu, but I won't be returning.

This is the BEST fish & chips we ever had !!!! Their fish is fresh and it is very nicely prepared -- crisp on the outside and tender within. We even ordered a second plate of fish and chips to share just because it is sooo great. The moose burger is tasty as well. Definitely WILL recommend to anyone who visit the peninsula.

We were in Bonavista for 3 nights and went to Ragged Rocks for dinner twice. The food was delicious and the menu went well beyond the standard fish and chips fare. We enjoyed live music one night and even bore witness to a “screeching in”. The atmosphere was warm and friendly and the service was excellent!

Server came over and took our drink order. I watched the bartender make the drinks and the tray of drinks stayed on the bar, ready, for 5-7 min before our server brought it over. It was not busy there was only 2 other people in the restaurant at the time. We placed our food order, the food took a very long time to come out. When it did everyone who ordered fries, their fries were soggy and lukewarm. I ordered a Caesar salad with the grilled chicken. When my salad came out the chicken was cold... not even heated. I took a couple bites of my salad and instantly starting feeling ill. I walked out to get some fresh air. When I did my fiancé took our server to the side to pass on her complaints on the food. When she did the server took it very personally and started being standoffish. He ended up kicking us out of the restaurant and wouldn't even let pay for the food we ate (which we had no problem at all doing) . While my family was sitting there confused trying to figure out what just happened he sent his son over to clean up the table in an effort to rush us out. Super unprofessional server, He also proceed to ask where my fiancé worked? Not sure how this information is relevant to a server at a restaurant... possible his intent was to scare her? I'm not sure. Edit: glad to see owner only replies to positive review! says a lot

Great spot as it was the first time for us to visit. Nice atmosphere, great service. Food was delicious. Tasty and fresh. Advise to get there early for dinner as the place filled up pretty fast after 5 pm. Don't hesitate to drop buy. Cheers ????

Absolutely fantastic establishment. We received amazing service from the staff, as they were kind enough to let our dog dine with us outdoors (They even got him a cup of water without us asking!). The Strawberry Rhubarb Mojito was phenomenal. Nachos were excellent and the Moose Burger was huge! I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. If you are in the Bonovista area, you must check this out.

Friendly waitress and great atmosphere. Myself and 3 friends went in for dinner. 3 soft drinks were ordered and 1 glass of wine before placing our food order. After placing 3 orders of a hamburger platter we were informed they ran out of hamburger buns. We told them we understand it happens and we would finish our drinks and go somewhere else. The waitress informed us we couldn't leave unless we ordered a food item because we purchased a glass of wine. I told her that seemed unfair as it wasn't our fault they ran out of something and we didn't want any other food item only hamburger platters. We were informed we couldn't leave unless a food item was ordered because it was some sort of liquor regulation that food must be bought as well. If true I understand that but they ran out of what we wanted. With that said we should of been able to leave without having to order somethimg else. I will not be back and I won't recommend to anyone.

Nice place open bright and clean. Surrounded by window's a Warm Inviting Sun drenched eatery pub. I could enjoy hours sitting at the bar watch the world go by out the windows. I can't speak for the whole menu but my beer, wings and rock chips were pretty satisfying. I did see many more tempting meals being delivered to welcoming patrons.

A pretty cool restaurant to check out in the area with great food and cocktails. We showed up with our two small kids on a pretty busy night and the tables were full. The host (I think he was one of the owners) apologized and said he would call us as soon as something came available, and sure enough in about 15 minutes he called to let us know he had a table ready for us. The service was very pleasant and attentive. Even though this has more of an adult feel than a family restaurant, they were very welcoming with our kids and had a great kids menu. Thanks for the great evening!

Read great reviews so decided to try it out last week. Extremely dissapointed. The fish didn't smell good and there was no salt in the batter and it was soggy and strange. We had 2 orders of it. Poor service and the waitress kept bringing us other tables food. She didn't even hand us a menu and said what we are ordering. We left our food almost untouched and all we were told was the fish is fresh and can't be guaranteed how it turns out. We had fish all across newfoundland and never had a bad experience besides this. Wev'e also not witnessed such bad customer service anywhere on the island. 1 star for the fried and onion rings.

This was the most fun place in town on a Saturday night. We stopped in for some light east coast fare and were delighted to find live music and every table full. For a bar that just opened up a few weeks before, they really had their act together. Can’t wait to come back!
