The pasta is to die for. Full stop. Chardonnay and Gamay were lovely. Not exactly budget-friendly, but well worth the occasional visit.
Amazing food and delicious wine! Definitely a spot to keep coming back to!
Sensational tasting experience barn, as if out of a movie set. Top quality glass. Superbly elegant Chardonnay, unoaked in 2017. Pinot from same year was a touch simple, likely not fully ripe, but technically of high quality. Only recently bottled so worth a repeat tasting to reach any conclusion at a later date. Both very drinkable. Prices a bit over the top, but quantity is so small the problem for customers is supply. Not on the local wine map. Don’t miss it.
Wonderful place
This place is absolutely beautiful and the pasta SO delicious! Amazing spot for lunch, however I wouldn’t recommend for the wine which was quite disappointing.
Maybe one of the saddest days of fall turning into winter is when the pasta bar closes at the Old Third. Owners Bruno and Jens consistently produce the best homemade pasta outside of Tuscany: always the freshest possible seasonal ingredients inventively turned into mouthwatering sauces for pasta (their classic Bolognese, if you’re stumped at what to order, should be your first choice if you have not dined there previously). Pasta aside the barn itself is in a magical location on a ridge overlooking the county fields above Wellington. It is so sophisticatedly done and yet also so simple in its beauty (like the food) with an IG-ready long window that offers a Cezanne view of vineyard and countryside. But now that the food venue is closed you have no excuse but to enjoy the incredible French cider and award-winning wines that the Old Third also produces. Bruno and Jens are still something of a hidden gem: they don’t widely advertise because they don’t need to. If you know the county you know the Old Third. Don’t miss it.
Buratta or Stracciatella with tomato!!
Absolutely stunning winery and the Riesling was just as good. We were served by Jens, very pleasant and friendly. Overall just loved the visit and were happy to take a bottle home. If you're looking for a beautiful spot with great wine, you can't miss here.
The Old Third has kicked it up a notch! Always come to this winery when in PEC and every time I return this place is better and better. They now have a fresh pasta bar with fantastic sauces for you to enjoy while sipping a cider and overlooking a beautiful field. Don't miss this one next time your in the county!
It was ok, a little pricey for the amount of cider that you’re getting. The tasting room is too small and there are too little staff organizing people (we had a large group ahead of us and they should have been told to move up and stand closer together or leave some of the party elsewhere given the size)
The pasta was really good and the wine and cider were good but overpriced. The biggest disappointment with this place was the staff. My group of friends and I went 40 minutes before they were closing and the staff were VERY rude and condescending. I understand it's the end of the shift but that is no way to treat customers. I would never return or recommend this place with so many other great wineries out there for people to enjoy. If they really didn't want to serve us close to closing, they could have just said no.
Had some fantastic pasta and wine lunch at The Old Third! We tried the cacio e pepe, pomodoro arrostiti, Chardonnay, and Gamay and enjoyed every part. The barn was also gorgeous. Will definitely be back!
Fantastic food and service! The staff and especially the chef and owners were very welcoming and went out of their way to produce a welcoming experience
Probably the most beautiful winery I’ve ever visited. A converted old barn, they’ve created some amazing spaces through split levels. From dark little nooks to sun drenched indoor benches and couches, you won’t find a bad spot in here. They only had two wines to try and although the Riesling wasn’t my favourite ever, the setting in the afternoon sun made it a great experience.
(Translated) Small vineyard. Exceptional wines produced by two lovers of viticulture. Local production. (Original) Petit vignoble. Vins d’exception produits par deux amants de la viticulture. Production locale.
Excellent wine, great vibe

We came here for their pop up dinner and had a great time. Food was delicious, just wished the pasta portions were a little bigger. Service was a bit slow but everyone was so friendly. Enjoyed the chardonnay.
Very nice staff.
This place has such a chill vibe about it. Very relaxing atmosphere for tastings
Always delicious pasta, salad and wine in a cozy, well designed barn.
A nice winery. Loved the riesling! Helpful staff
An absolute MUST while in PEC. Both the Riesling and Cider are phenomenal and the pasta bar is absolutely delicious! Kind staff and prices are incredibly fair for the quality.
Tried them twice and disapointed both times. Found the owners and staff very unfriendly . Biked out of our way to visit - we arrived 15min early for lunch and felt very unwelcomed. They made it very clear no food would be served until 12 instead of just saying how about you sit down and we'll get you glass a wine or app while you wait. Overpriced and small selection of wines. Plenty of way better options down the street ...in this case it's 2 strikes and your out!
Excellent hand made pasta, which they make fresh. Be prepared for a short wait as a result but the pasta is worth the wait ???? delicious experience!
These wines are something special. Do yourself a favour and stop here if you are even vaguely in the area
The Old Third Vinyard is located on the fabulous Closson Road in a beautifully repurposed and comfortable large historic barn. Mario and the crew at The Old Third Vinyard are absolutely amazing. We visited on the last day this year 2021 for homemade pasta and it was a real treat. There were a number of scrumptious pasta dishes to choose from. Everyone in our group tried something different and we were all thrilled. Again some tried the wine and others the cider. All the beverages were fantastic. Mario's grandfather ran a cidery in Normandy France and he would be very pleased that his grandson is following in his traditions and crafts. Beside the barn are containers full of fresh russet apples that are the necessary ingredient for their distinctive cider. They don't mess with perfection by adding unnecessary flavours. Come for the wine. Come for the cider. Come for the food. Come for the adventure. There is indoor and outdoor seating and it is dog friendly too.
This is a very beautiful winery, a hidden gem. We got to take our tastings and wander the barn taking photos and enjoying the view. Only 2 tastings but the overall experience was great.
The Old Third Vineyard was AMAZING! what an unbelievable experience me and my girlfriend had. We felt that we were transported to a rustic European style barn. The owners and staff make you feel welcome by letting you walk around the barn, choose your own seating while sipping on there in house Riesling, which was so tasty! Lastly the food was amazing! We ordered the green garden salad that was lightly dressed with homemade vinaigrette and percorino cheese. For our main we order the handmade ravioli stuffed with ricotta & a lemon-herbs infused sauce, and handmade tagliatelle bolognese. Both pasta dishes were cooked to perfect al dente and complemented the Riesling perfectly. We will definitely will be returning to The Old Third next/any time we visit Prince Edward County. Thank you for the unforgettable experience!!
A great place for a quick bite and a glass of riesling wine. We tried the truffles, ravioli and caprese salad and all 3 dishes were great and tasty. Paid about CAD100 for the 3 dishes and 3 glasses of riesling wine. Tables are available indoors (3 levels) or outdoors (weather permitted). Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Even if you want to sit, eat and drink for a while, this place is highly suggested.
Very long wait for food (1h30) and only 2 wine available. Little disapointed
Love the Chardonnay!
The wines were nice but the venue is what stole the show. Love the rustic modern mix.
Ravioli was divine, Riesling was excellent. Absolutely a must stop over on your wine tour!
Any tour of PEC must include a visit to Old Third. Finely crafted wines, beautifully restored barn and venue, gracious hosts.
This is a wonderful, smaller winery. The owners take great pride in what they produce, and the experience has always been personal. Recently they opened up a seasonal fresh pasta bar which elevated the experience to something that was more than just a brief wine-tasting stop. Their barn, where they host the tastings and food, is large and inviting.
Pretty awesome vibe in an old barn. Food and wine were excellent. Went there after ba bike race and was totally surprised how much I enjoyed my experience there
Fresh pasta and wine how can you go wrong. The Old Third is a great winery. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and it met all expectations. Food: The fresh pasta was delicious. Lemon ricotta ravioli were great. Ambience: Quiet and peaceful. Sitting upstairs is great, specifically by the bar top where you have a great view of the vineyards. Wine: Overall good no complaints. Service: Overall good as well. Value: Wine tasting (3) and a plate of pasta, under $40 which is fair and worth it as it was good. Would definitely re-visit.
This is one of the most quaint boutique wineries in all of PEC. One of the owners, Jens, was previously an interior designer which speaks to the whimsical, relaxing and beautiful space to relax and have a glass of Can Franc or Pinot Noir. Or their cider. The wines are a celebration of local terroir, never disappoints. Don't miss this gem, it's truly an authentic PEC experience.
If youre anywhere in the Prince Edward County or a quick visit to the Sandbanks dunes, I highly recommend the Old Third to anyone. The road is a bit rough, although it's a small price to pay for an amazing spot like this. Dont judge this book by it's cover, the inside has been refurbished and modernised. Owners even encourage you to wonder around after placing an order. Pasta is amazing, considerate amount given. Menu is minimal and cuts down any indecision. Covid friendly but they make you drink from plastic cups that are a tad small. Would recommend buying out a bottle instead of getting a cup or two. Other than that, I see myself coming back when I do the ol' cottage visit.
Decent, expensive but nice
Horrible rude staff and overpriced for what you get if you want to waste your money and leave feeling hungry- in addition to having sauce that is very salty then this place is for you. So many great wineries and food in the county don’t waste your time and money here.
We stopped there just for lunch - we find the barn in the middle of nowhere on the road pretty interesting. The pasta was absolutely amazing! Just pricey for the size of the plate - almost $20 for a small portion.
Absolutely gorgeous and unique winery. Their dry riesling came highly recommended and did not disappoint! We also had some fresh summer pasta dishes (a brown butter ravioli and lobster/crab tortellini) and they were delicious. We ate out the field area, which was a lovely view, and the barn is really beautiful as well. One of my favourite wineries when we visited PEC. The owner seems very eco-conscious as well (in COVID-times made sure everyone disposed of mandated plastic cups properly). Highly recommend a visit!
The burrata is not worth 18$, the plate is basically just a piece of cheese and cherries. Plus, we waited 1.5hrs for our food. Overall not worth the hype.
Loved the decor of the place! The food was amazing and so was the wine.
Awesome. Food tastes as good as it looks on the website.
Just an impromptu stop-in but such a pretty little place full of charm and character.
Beautiful barn setting, lovely pinot noir and cabernet franc.
Absolutely gorgeous place. Terrific wine. You must include the Old Third on your tour. Our host was wonderful and accommodating. This place is an asset to Ontario tourism. Great work!
Great space. Loved the wine
Lovey old barn. Great wine
Tiny portions served in paper plates for ridiculous price that you have to walk to get. Minimum tip is 15%… for what? This is beyond ridiculous.
