You will be able to see the opinions of people like you who know the services and products of Grange of Prince Edward Vineyards and Estate Winery (Winery) in the area of Belleville (Canada).
At the moment this business receives a score of 4.1 out of 5 and the rating was based on 127 reviews.
As you can read, it has an average rating is quite positive, and it's founded on a high number of opinions, so we may say that the valuation is quite credible. If there are many people who bothered to leave their feddback when they are happy with the business, it works.
You know that we don't usually stop to write feddbacks when they are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Winery is classified in the category of Winery.
The wine is great, but don’t buy the hod dogs. Very disappointed... waited 40min for them and the sausage was cold inside. I just hope it was precooked.
AMAZING ???? ????????????
Wine is ok, but nothing remarkable
Great atmosphere with a more rustic feel than many wineries in the area. Wine is solid with a high recommendation to try the Brute Rose.
Disappointing experience here and I usually don’t write bad reviews! I had been recommended Grange by a friend who enjoyed her experience here last year after she got what I assume now, after seeing the option on the brochure that we got, was the picnic basket. I tried to call 4 times on 2 separate days for some information and my calls were never answered. I decided to drop by the winery anyways and I tried to describe what my friend had enjoyed (a sample of wines with breads and jams etc that you can take into the vineyard) and was offered a tasting box. Still not sure if the picnic option is available. Although it was on the brochure, the server I spoke to seemed very uninterested in answering any questions and never mentioned the picnic. And then, my partner went to order a sausage from the vendor they had working, asked what the options were and was told rudely “there’s a whole gourmet menu dude” and was told to go to the online menu. I also think an online menu is unnecessary for a menu that ended up being 3 sausages, a chalkboard would be much easier. Finally on a good note, I enjoyed the Pinot noir! The wines were pretty good overall but the service was not great.
Beautiful scenery (indoor/outdoor), their Gammay Noir and the cabernet Franc are delicious. The staff is a bit akward... just stood in front of you and say nothing during the tasting... that's a ambiance killer...
Friendly staff, beautiful grounds but disappointing wine in our opinion.
The wine taste like chemicals and fart! Avoid at all costs! Go somewhere nicer in the county!
We are so impressed with the staff and landscape of the Grange. We were fortunate to get married here this past weekend and loved every moment of it! I highly recommend this winery to visit, to enjoy their wonderful wines and to consider as a wedding venue. Just excellent! Thank you!
One of the few fully estate grown wineries in the County (which means they dont buy extra fruit and only make wine from their property). These wines have such character. Dog friendly winery. The tasting room is large and you can choose to stand, sit comfortably in couches and enjoy some snacks or in long rows near a hearth. The winery is in an original old barn and has these beautiful soaring ceilings and views of the vineyards. Their wines are made by a mother and daughter duo and they made a unique lineup from fresh bright white wines to complex Chardonnay and then bright medium bodied red wines. Also dont forget to try their sparkling (the Citrine is my top pick) and they also make cider. They have wines for everyone made and their wines are complex and very unique. Each one has its own story.
Great Winery! Good estate grown wines, great presentation at tasting and beautiful settings. Kids were welcomed (we came organised) and the chicken running around were a great entertainment in itself. It was our second time there and we'll be back for sure.
My experience at this winery felt unwelcoming. The girl at the counter was uninterested and it felt like we were bothering her when we asked a few questions. We ordered a picnic basket, which was quite overpriced for what you get, especially since the wine/sangria was not included. The “sangria” was just wine and a can of san pellegrino for an extra $10. However, the chickens made the experience a little better.
Great wines
The wine is ok but the picnic baskets you can take out into the grape fields are worth going for. Super cute and delicious.
The cutest winery! I did the wine tasting. 4 wines are preselected and presented in a beautifully packaged box containing small bottles that describe the wine and a small wine glass. The tasting kits can’t be customized but I was pleasantly surprised with how great the wines tasted. My friends and I spent about 2 hours here sipping wine, and having cocktails. The cocktails were so good! They also served various sausages (beyond meat options for all) that were super tasty. Highly recommend a visit here!
Great location and atmosphere but the wine was underwhelming.
The Grange is a great example of a business that has taken the COVID lemons, and turned it into lemonade. Their creative and frankly, adorable, solution for wine tasting is to sell you a $20 "tasting kit", with pre-poured mini-tasting bottles of the available wines and a small tasting glass, in a nice little gift box, and send you out to their picturesque lawn/patio area to sit on their picnic benches, enjoy the scenery, and taste the wines at your own pace. The mini-bottles have little tags (like gift tags) that talk about the origins of the wine, the tasting notes, and some 'observations' from the winemakers. The reason this was 4 stars instead of 5 is because it would have been nice to have an option to just taste two or three, instead of all of them, and to use disposable utensils. Although the glass and bottles were cute, I don't need a tasting-size wine glass and it'll end up collecting dust at the back of my kitchen at home. So A+ for creativity, but B for execution. Regardless, the staff were very friendly and helpful, even though we showed up with less than 10 minutes before official closing time. We'll definitely be back!
Great wines and experience. What a nice story behind the wine too.
The tasting room is situated in a very beautiful renovated barn, nestled in the trees off a rural county road. I enjoyed one of the three wines I tasted; both the cab franc and Pinot noir were overly acidic, but the sauv blanc was really nice. It was pretty awkward when the self-titled sommelier on staff tried to convince me all Sancerres were Chardonnays... And even more so when she later “corrected” herself by insisting Sancerre was a grape, not a wine-region. I’m all for making the wine world less esoteric, but it’s always better to say “I’m not sure” than it is to guess.
Nice place, the wine not so much
(Translated) Nice place, nice atmosphere, nice concept with the picnic basket. However fast service with the impression of being in a hurry ... We realized at the end that we could have been served in French by an available employee who kindly returned the bill to us. very expensive. We bought a bottle and a book ($ 70) and still charged us for the tasting.
We visited many wineries during our visit but this was absolutely the best experience. The wine was amazing, the picnic baskets we're perfect and the service made everything that much better.
Wonderful staff that take the time to share their passion of wine with you in a beautiful rustic barn that has been restored. Be sure to give the resident cat a belly rub!
Worth the drive out just to see the very beautiful building. Be cautious as the laneway is insanely full of potholes. Staff were pretty dismissive and the wines were not as good as a lot I've tasted in the area.
The most fun experience we had at any PEC winery! You can order a picnic full of local goodies and enjoy it anywhere on the grounds. The tasting was fun as well, and very affordable.
A butiful spot with lots to offer
Love everything about this winery. The historic and rustic barn, the open room for tasting and the friendly service. Their wine is excellent. I really enjoy the pinot with a dry minerally component you only find in pec. Check it out it’s worth it, and pick up a picnic basket while you are there to enjoy.
One of the more beautiful wineries in the area. They do a four wine tasting for $5. You can also have a picnic basket packed for you for $35. Great wine too!
This was a plan B because Closson Chase was so busy. Not at all the laid back experience I expected from the look of the place. The place looks nice but they charge 20$ for a tasting kit that comes with 4 one ounce wines and a glass to bring home. Cannot drink the wine you buy by the bottle - need to pay twice the price by the glass. There are sausages in buns to eat. Menu is only online although there are few items. A chalk board, which I suggested, would make it so much easier to view the menu.
Nice people, awesome wines
ABSOLUTELY amazing service. We had one of the owner's serve us, and her passion and positive presence made the experience so pleasant. The facility was beautiful, clean, and eclectic. Will be coming back.
Wines were decent and grounds were gorgeous but service was rather rude and uninviting - its always nice to feel the passion and learn about a place you want to spend your money rather than have the staff make you feel like they’re annoyed people are there
Very nice decor, wooden barn, surrounded by vineyards and chickens. Once inside lots of charm with old couches and wooden tables. Cute popcorn station with seasonings ($5) and tea station ($3). Wine was average. We tried the orange wine which has very particular taste, a red and the spiced wine which was a white wine... a bit unexpected. A mulled wine with red would have been amazing in the cold weather! We had read about their board games; you'll find monopoly, scrabble, clue, chess, uno, etc. Lots of fruit flies indoor when we went (mid-October).
Beautiful and enchanting winery that's large yet very cozy with couches to lounge on and a massive serving bar where you can taste test their products. I left with a couple of bottles of their cider!
Beautiful property and lovely, unique wines with a lot of character. Customer service has always been impeccable.
Great wine. Gorgeous barn and grounds with outdoor seating.
As many of the recent reviews highlighted, a woman with glasses served us and was also dismissive, rude and seemed overall displeased. She didn't give us any information on their wines, was cheap on the poor of tasters and finaly left us at some point never to return. Our group was in PEC for my birthday and when we mentioned it to our server he said he couldn't do anything because anyone could say it's their birthday. What?! Are you serious?! He was nice but also said very little and seemed overwhelemed when it wasn't that busy. When we asked him to buy a bottle of their Brut, he told us to go get it from the shelf ourselves and then wait in line to pay. While in line I saw multiple other patrons skip the line and pay cash. Lastly they don't even offer free sampling upon bottle purchase, so we paid for terrible service and barely an ounce per taster. It's very overpriced for what you get especially compared to the 30 plus other wineries around. We thought about having a bottle of their wine with the picnic option on their patio however the price of the wine then jumps from 30 a bottle to 50! What!? Nevermind. We drove to Wellington beach and had a picnic table snack with wine for free with a much better view. Wine is good but not for the price and service was the worst we had on our trip of 14 wineries.
(Translated) Super good wine and a super friendly oenologist. One of the two best vineyards in the region. (Original) Super bon vin et une oenologue super sympathique. Un des deux meilleur vignobles de la région.
Was very excited to visit this winery today. Unfortunately I was extremely disappointed. We were on a tour with a guide, who was extremely sweet, knowledgeable and familiar with the county. However, he was unfamiliar with the new Covid procedures they have in place, and when he asked questions about the process, he was berated by the young owner. She ridiculed him loudly and aggressively in front of multiple clients while he apologized. She said ‘what would make you think that a tasting room would be open during coronavirus??????’ She was causing quite the scene and made everyone in the group feel very uncomfortable. When my friend grabbed the tasting box from another employee, and thanked her through her mask, the employee did not hear her, and loudly and sarcastically declared ‘YOU’RE WELCOME’. I have never been treated so badly as a paying customer of an establishment. We felt as if we were inconveniencing the owner through our very existence. On top of this, the wine was not good.
Awesome experience with the charcuterie lunch
Barf. Don't go here. Especially don't drink the Rose. Our entire party wanted to vomit. We were also looking forward to the picnic baskets only to find out the person who was supposed to make them today didn't come in. There was a food pop up there and it was great! It is also extremely windy at the location. Gets pretty busy. The staff was nice. The food from the pop up was fantastic. Wish I could say the same about the wine. Very disappointing.
Dec. 29/19 Early afternoon: We unfortunately had a very unwelcoming experience at the Grange. We are staying in PEC over the holidays and spent the afternoon visiting several local wineries. After visiting a few others, we stopped by the Grange. We came in to browse the artisan gifts and goodies, and to buy several bottles of wine for our New Years celebrations. After about 5 minutes of browsing, the woman behind the tasting counter asked if we would like to do a tasting. When we kindly replied “no thanks, we’re at the end of our wine tasting for the day but we wanted to come stop by”, the woman then laughed mockingly and rudely said “well that’s odd, you come to a winery not to taste wine.” This made us all feel extremely uncomfortable, especially since we were about to buy several bottles of their wine. It was then very upsetting and surprising that the woman then turned around to other paying customers, laughed at our expense and said “that’s weird.” The others weren’t laughing. Needless to say, we didn’t purchase the wine at the Grange after being made to feel very unwelcome. Contrary to this experience, we had just visited the Broken Stone winery where we had a genuine and lovely experience. We learnt of the history of the winery, we met the owner of this family run business and his daughter who were both lovely, we received a complimentary welcome glass of sparking wine (it was delicious), and we got a tour of the building. We always have great experiences in PEC, up until now at the Grange.
Not quite sure what is happening here. They are not selling wine or having tastings, but instead have a trailer in the back from an external company selling expensive mixed drinks and hot dogs? Long long waits and slow service. Save your time and try another place.
Hey guys, of all of our wine tour, grange has been the most disappointing. 1st of all, im not a fan of being given 4 bottles with plastic and glass that are not re-usable. Its a bad business decision since they could give serving bottles and re-use them. Cremant was not offerred in tastings and by the glass. You have to buy a bottle if you want to taste it. The view is absolutely the best we had for pictures and chilling. The potentiel is there to be the best but owners need to rethink the formula. You are forced to buy the kit with a glass when all other winery serve you in glasses even with covid and give you tasting for free if you buy bottles. Go for the view, not for the wine or the experience.
Good. Wine tasting boxes take a while when they’re busy. If you come mid-day on a weekend there will be a line up to get in. They have a picnic tables to sit at and order wine/cocktails/beer/sausages. Wine is good.
Had a great informative conversation with a staff sommelier. She provided us with a great deal of information about wines in general, and more specifics about the varieties grown in the county.
Some of the best wine in the county. Consistently reliable service.
Really enjoyed the Grange. Very nice wines and helpful staff. Definitely will be back next year!
Always a delightful experience to visit.
I have to say one of the best wineries in the county. A bonus is that all wines' grapes are ???? local and they have sausage and beer.
The Grange is a stunning spot for wine tasting or an event! We had visited a couple times for wine tasting and the big rustic barn provides a beautiful setting inside and out. The chardonnay and pinot noir are excellent, and we decided to then have our small elopement ceremony there! The grounds are beautiful for an event and our catered lunch in the loft was a perfect addition to our small gathering. Also dog friendly which our pup enjoyed. :) Highly recommend for a visit any time of year!
Tasting kits are available and you're able to select which wines you would like to try! It's a great way to cope with the pandemic.
Wow! Amazing from start to finish. A beautiful day, the grape vines full of succulent fruit. The sunlight gilding the leaves, a sleek little black cat following us. Warmth. We tasted four wines and a cider with Laura, who was incredible. Knowledgeable and down to earth. She treated me to two whites, the Chardonnay and the Sauvignon Blanc. We also tasted the Cabernet Franc and the Pino Noir, some of the best tasting wines of all the places we visited. Really enjoyed our visit. ????
(Translated) Wow beautiful, relaxed little visit even with our children !!! (5 years and 1½) board game area for children while we tasted our wines .... Purchase of a small picnic basket perfect to accompany our glass of wine in the sun on a picnic table. A chicken coop that was all the rage for children! Nice people.
A great place to have a picnic amongst the chickens ???? ????☺️ Purchase one of their picnic baskets along with some of their great wine and enjoy the outdoors! Friendly and knowledgeable staff. The main tasting room inside the building is really cool and has a great atmosphere! Very enjoyable! Highly recommended! ✌️☺️????
Visited the Grange on our girls getaway weekend and loved this place! It's scenic and they sell adorable picnic baskets filled with local treats. Andre was the best! We will be returning!
This will be a short review Also ! This visit was during the pandemic. We entered and enjoyed the decor . We were asked if we would like to try a kit, which included our choice of ounce of wine , that we picked from a board . Kit had little 4 bottled ounce of wine and a stemmed glass . Payed $15 ea. On having our taste out under trees . When went back in we were told to remove the glass leave on counter. A kit paid for and what was inside the "kit" all should and was expected to be ours to take home ! Their idea of kit was wrong !! Don't blame this on Covid 19!
Staff were amazing, gave us a wonderful tour and explanation on the wine making processes. It is a very busy winery, and sometimes the actual wine your tasting may get overlooked in the grand scheme of things but it's still worth it.
A wonderful location with some great scenery. Loved the elegant tasting room with antiques. Tasting kit with engraved glass was a great souvenir. Pop up bar and grill served up some fine Huli Huli (and vegetarian option was much appreciated). Will definitely be dropping by next visit.
I've been trying to get to all the PEC wineries and this one really stuck out as a winner for me. First off the property itself is really well maintained and managed. Clean, rustic with tall ceilings is this old barn style building. Beautiful and relaxing. The staff where friendly and knowledgeable without any wine pretentiousness and they took the time to chat! Had a lovely Pinot Nior, a Gamay and a Riesling... could have stayed all afternoon. Worth a visit for sure.
Great place and very good vine!
The location was quaint, they had hens and roasters on the property. They also do picnic baskets and popcorn! The service was great as well, however the wines were underwhelming. Again, this is a place that you would visit just for the outdoor picnic tables and view of the vinery. Great place to go if you have kids.
Lovely place with picnic tables outside. Their wine tasting comes in a box with four tiny bottles that look like Alice in Wonderland potions and a wine glass for keepsake that, despite being all very cute, are a bit expensive (20 dollars). I wish they had different options in the tasting, which might change according to the season. It's a fixed tasting on the box.
I've been to this winery twice, and had two very different experiences. My first visit in summer 2016 was very good. My mom and I loved the beautiful setting, enjoyed a picnic and had a wonderful/knowledgable employee help with our wine tasting. We were educated on their wine-making process, grapes, and the different notes in each blend of wine. I re-visited this past weekend with my boyfriend and had a poor experience. The woman with eye-glasses serving our wine tasting flight did only one thing - pour a small amount of wine in our glass. She barely spoke to us, let alone explained anything about the wine. We were simply given a menu and asked what we wanted, in a tone that was less than enthusiastic. The place was not busy at all and we were the only ones she had to serve. We walked away having one tasting flight and a glass of wine for $17... which may have been worth it if the service was even a fraction better. Some people drive a fair distance to visit these wineries, and should be given consistently good service. Needs improvement.
I was a guest at a summer wedding held here and it was truly disastrous. First, during the ceremony, they wouldn't turn off the noisemaking machines to scare away the birds from the vineyard. So the entire wedding was constantly punctuated with what sounded like shotgun blasts. Then they interrupted the ceremony to announce someone parked too close to the owner's cottage and had to move their car immediately. At the dinner, there wasn't enough food for the guests to eat. The air conditioning was either broken or turned off, so everyone sweated like a pig in their formal clothes. Womens' makup was running down their faces from the sweat. The Grange employee organizing the wedding dismissed pretty much all these problems with a lassez faire attitude of indifference. Worst wedding I've ever been to.
Not sure how this place is a 4.1, but it is a LOVELY environment with tons of outdoor seating and a nice sausage stand, perfect for some afternoon munchies! Would definitely check it out again.
Having one of their picnic baskets along with a bottle of their vine is a must-do in PEC.
We did 6 tastings for $10. The owner was knowledgeable, friendly, and shared some interesting history about the property during our wine tasting. The scenery and interior of the building was beautiful. It is definitely worth returning.
Older lady behind the counter was less then pleasant. All 8 of our friends felt the same way. Best to put someone who enjoys their job up front working directly with people.
(Translated) Superb place. Quiet and relaxing. Very good wine. Whites are better in general but everything depends on taste! Worth the detour! (Original) Superbe endroit. Calme et relaxant. Très bon vin. Les blancs sont meilleurs en général mais tout dépend des goûts! Vaut le détour!
Great place to visit for a tasting. The staff were very friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about their wines and wine in general. Left us wanting to go learn more about wine ourselves.
My wife and I had a wonderful time here. We bought the picnic package and a glass of sparkling Riesling and dined on the grass near the stream. The building is rustic and their porch is quite quaint. Would definitely recommend!
(Translated) Fine wine Excellent service (Original) Bon vin Excellent service
Tasting kits are a clever and fun idea to cope with the pandemic. Wines were excellent, strongly recommend the Ombre Gris.
I had an incredible customer service experience with the Grange today. I've always loved the tasting room and the vineyard, the wine is great, but the staff here CARE about people and that heart is what will keep me coming back. Highly recommend!
I loved the rustic barn at the Grange & the staff was friendly. I purchased the wine kit for $15 which contained my 4 chosen wines with a wine glass . All packaged together In a box. Great until we were asked to give back the wine glass from Our kit ! Needless to say we were surprised by this request !
Absolutely gorgeous. Very hospitable. I'd advise giving yourself time to relax here and just unwind.
Very hip, lovely spot. Surprisingly one of the best experiences on Closson. Gamon was great. Perfect on a sunny day. Eric poured our best cocktail of 2020 — Sunday Service.
Awesome family business. Nice personal touch
Will be back next summer
Great wines and welcoming staff. Beautiful restored barn.
Great location and atmosphere but the wine was underwhelming.
Beautiful vineyard. Had some samples, but wish we had known about their picnic basket (had just eaten), looked very tasty and would be nice to enjoy in the picturesque garden outside. Next time.
Cute presentation but a bit on the pricier side for tastings.
My favorite Pinot Noir from Ontario
Had a wonderful time with my family on this beautiful property. We had a lovely picnic outside and the kids chased the rooster and hens trying to take their picture....
Nice place ,very good wines owner has interesting personal history,,worth the trek..
I visited the Grange for an event and I was not disappointed! The Grange is a gorgeous and rustic winery with tasteful decor and delicious wines. The accompanying snacks were delicious and staff provided impeccable service. Thank you for a wonderful event.
We were the only customers there and asked to do a tasting. We were rushed through and handed a box of sample tastings, did not receive any explanation of the wines and then asked to go sample them outside on our own. I wouldn't recommend going here if you are looking for a tasting experience.
Beautiful setting to try some county wines.
The Grange is definitely one of my favourite locations for the perfect bottle of wine. Not only is the service great, but the location is GORGEOUS and the perfect scenery for my photography. I have photographed at The Grange on multiple occasions, for some fall minis to a proposal! Each visit The Grange and their staff have gone above and beyond. Can't wait for another chance to visit!
Intimate winery with some great wines tasted Aug 2019 & we enjoyed the basket...
Visited La Grange early spring with some girlfriends. It was the highlight of our trip. Love it and most of all love the wine. Just sitting down right now enjoying the last of the sparkling reisling. So refreshing and delicious.
(Translated) Fine wine Excellent service (Original) Bon vin Excellent service
Very underwhelming. They only had hot dogs available for food and no vegetarian option available. No music or scenery
The featured wines were sour and not the tastiest, but the people were nice
You have to buy a tasting kit that includes 4 wines (no choice you have to buy those wines). It’s $20 for 1 oz x 4 (plus a glass so you can serve your own wine). The server wasn’t very hospitable and just handed us a box without explaining anything. Would not recommend.
