A wonderful place to enjoy a fine local wine in a relaxed setting.
(Translated) great pinot noit (Original) great pinot noit
Been twice. Found it on a very pleasant summer cycle one day so went back in a car to get wine. Refurbished barn is tastefully decored with a small restaurant and superb wine amongst the artwork. Supporting local Ontarian vineyards gives you a sense of satisfaction as well. Go....a lovely afternoon.
Making Canada proud, closson chase wines are putting us on the wine map. Great wine, awesome environment and a fabulous stop on a PEC tour.
My favourite chardonnay!
Nice looking barn style winery but was pretty cold inside so dress warm. 10/10 for the wine and fun serving staff!
We loved the wine, and had the best time at this winery thanks to our wonderful server Cassidy. She made excellent recommendations and was absolutely delightful. Thank you Cassidy!!
Great white wine and sparkling wine in a beautiful surrounding. I think its way better than most other estates around the area.
Wines were underwhelming and staffs were not very courteous. Visitors were blocking the entrance to the tasting room to take pictures and there were no staffs at the front to mitigate the situation. Beautiful place to take pictures tho.
Food was yummy ????
Service was lazy. Wanted to close earlier than scheduled . Actually, it did not allow us in at 4.50 pm on Saturday. Hope in the future this will corrected because it seems like a pretty winery and bar.
Great purple barn and staff are nice. Tried the reisling and chardonnay and not a fan of the wine. Great atmosphere to sit outside for a glass of wine.
It's ok, not much options to eat.
Make it a point to stop at a Closson Chase if you are in the area. Ask for Wayne, he is amazing.
The outdoor setup makes for such nice wine tastings on a sunny day
Loved them before COVID, love them more now! If it is summer 2020 this is the winery to go to. Very friendly and welcoming. Taking names and information for contact tracing as well as asking COVID related questions. Some other wineries are using COIVD as an excuse to only sell you a glass or bottle vs tasting. They claim this is because of COVID but rather it is an excuse to charge you more as they don't even take your name and number nor do they ask you any related health questions. Closson Chase on the other hand does things right. I hope other wineries will take a lesson from these folks!! Definitely will return and recommend!
Celebrated two of our friends birthdays and this was by far one of our favorite stops in the county! John and Katie were amazing, they know their stuff; and were awesome in recommending other places and activities in the county. The grounds are also! stunning We will be returning soon!!
I was there yesterday with a large group for a bachelorette party and Chris was so kind and helpful! After being at many wineries throughout the day that didn’t give us an individual experience, this was a real treat! He explained all the wines in detail and helped us understand the different regions. Fantastic experience!
Wine selection is excellent. The vineyard is beautiful. The vibes are nice. Not 5 star because we ordered charcuterie and thought it was coming in a board. It came in a plastic container, that kind of threw me off. They also brought the bill out to us after 15 minutes. I am pretty sure that was because we are not white.
My fiance and I were supposed to get married this past weekend, however being in the midst of a pandemic, we decided to postpone. Still wanting to celebrate somehow, we decided to take a day trip to Prince Edward County and we landed at Closson Chase. We were warmly welcomed by the front staff, and guided to our table. The winemaker, Keith, found out we were supposed to be getting married that day and came to greet us. We had a fantastic afternoon at Closson Chase. Keith and staff were spectacular and so knowledgeable . Everyone was kind and humble. And even though staff were wearing masks, you could tell that they were smiling. A big THANK YOU to Keith and staff for helping us feel special on what was supposed to be our wedding day. We will definitely be coming back to visit.
Grounds are BEAUTIFUL and the purple barn is really striking. Staff very friendly and welcomed us right away. They give you your wine on a little tray and you get to sit outside which was a really nice touch. Good variety of wine and what we tried was quite nice. Really enjoyed the chardonnay. Would definitely go back.
For our first time going to Closson Chase we had an amazing experience. The wines are terrific and the staff were just as good. John and Sara(h?) were extremely friendly, insightful and hospitable. John went above and beyond to ensure a fun, interactive and informative tasting session. The staff and wines have made us, as new transplants to PEC, Closson Chase locals.
Beautiful setting, great area to lounge. Wine flavour profiles had great descriptors, lots of complexity. We didn't feel the wine did at all. Twice the price for tastings here at $10.
Beautiful property, picturesque! The staff was super helpful and give you information about each wine you can sit down with and know what your having vs. Standing at the bar or taking testers to the table and not knowing what's what. Food looked amazing wish we could have stayed to try some!
Very nice place, amazing wine and great service by Logan ! We will come back for sure
(Translated) Beautiful wines, to be tasted in the gardens behind the barn. Superb! (Original) De beaux vins, à déguster dans les jardins derrière la grange. Superbe!
Very friendly service, dog-friendly covered barn area, great wines
Bad and slow service. There were four table and three people serving. We gotta left alone for quite some time. We called for service and we were told someone will be with us shortly. Other long wait, after watching them cleaning other tables , they start checking on other tables who had their food drink to see how they are doing. Not sure if it is bc we were the only Asian group. But we defiantly Felt like mr cellophane among other tables. They clearly don’t understand the definition of hospitality. Stay away. They are many other winery around the are treat everyone nicely.
Wish there were tastings
Fabulous grounds! The back patio is awesome as was the sparkling wine! ????????
Closson chase vineyard Chardonnay excellent white wine
If you haven't tried their sparkling....what are you waiting for? Staff is extremely friendly and there are so many beautiful places here to sit back and enjoy a glass of their wines! Guys...they have swings...Be sure to check out their food program, it's a must for a lunch option in the county. YUM
Excellent The Brock Chardonnay 2015. Run for it. Canadian CAN be proud. Félicitation for your hard work. Bruno. Montreal
Expensive for no reason, long wait time, some of the staff are very rude.
Amazing! Clean and friendly staff. Actually served wine in a glass, $15 for tasting 3 1.5 oz glasses of your choice. Our server was amazing, explained the wines and was extremely friendly. Even took a group photo for us (sanitized his hands before and after) ! Would come back here again!
Really friendly welcome, beautiful garden to sit and taste wine. Great selection of good tasting wine.
Yummy chardonnay. Lovely venue
Great place to spend a relaxing afternoon. Very nice wine. Helpful, friendly staff. Love the outdoor tables. .
Beautiful and delicious! The Chardonnay is amazing, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir are also worth to try. Have a seat behind the purple barn with a glass and just enjoy the feeling of behind surrounded by grapes.
The property itself is amazing. The purple exterior stands out in a big way and the outdoor seating area is amazing, best view we've gotten in a winery in Prince Edward County. Wines were great too! Highly recommend visiting this winery if you are in the area.
Had a fantastic time here! Kaitlyn was serving us and she was amazing, everyone in our group loved her and had a great experience!
Friendliest winery staff in the County.
Crafters of top end PEC wines, by one of the original vineyards. We always make this a stop when we're in the county - not only do we love their wines, but they love dogs, and have a great setting to enjoy a glass. They often host great events with outside chefs or musicians to make the stop even more special. One of the best.
Ugghhh...... 0/2. I want to like Ontario wines, but this winery is terrible. I'd have a hard time paying 10 dollars for their 30 dollar chardonnay. Save your time and money, look elsewhere. Disappointing choice for Christmas.
One of the best places we visited during our trip! Chardonnay was outstanding. You can enjoy your tasting in a gorgeous garden out back. Such a relaxing, delightful way to spend an afternoon.
One of my favourite wineries in PEC! Beautiful garden in the back to enjoy some nice wine.
Wine selection is excellent. The vineyard is beautiful. The vibes are nice. Not 5 star because we ordered charcuterie and thought it was coming in a board. It came in a plastic container, that kind of threw me off. They also brought the bill out to us after 15 minutes. I am pretty sure that was because we were peoole of colour. As a local guide on Google, I leave respectful but honest reviews and the restaurants always have a chance to discuss. Just need to speak up to make these establishments more aware of how they can not make peoppe feel uncomfortable.
One of the must visit wineries in The County! Excellent wines, service, gardens and hospitality!
Over priced wine served with a tinge of arrogance
Best wines in Prince Edward county
Five star experience at the beautiful Closson Chase. Our tasting with Mel was informative, fun, and I found my dream wine: 2014 GOLD AWARD winning chardonnay! I boldly stated it as 'the best wine I've ever had in my life today' and immediately regretted not buying more than one bottle. Had a wonderful time!
Lovely venue however the service was poor. Understandably, it was a weekend with a lengthy line to get a seat. We waited about 20 minutes to get any service or acknowledgement. The server stopped by our table a max of 2 times. Dropped off our wine and food without explanation of the wines or the vineyard and just moved along. No socialization with our table at all. We couldn't wait to leave.
(Translated) Pleasant decor. Expensive tasting and we know where we are going with it. The list, wine list with price is not provided to us. The surprise is for the end when we discover the price of the bottles of wine ... It was our first visit to the vineyards of PEC and unfortunately not the best in comparison with the others visited. You are advised ;-) (Original) Décor agréable.
The wines were underwhelming, however, you should stop by for the atmosphere! Their outdoor seating area is very beautiful and great for pics!
Good wine and atmosphere but selection was lacking after a busy weekend.
(Translated) Well landscaped courtyard for sipping wine and strolling..I bought their Pinot Noir! Reviews are good! (Original) Cour bien aménagé pour siroter le vin et flâner..ai acheté leur pinot noir ! Critiques sont bonnes !
This place is stunning. Love the purple barn, great photo opportunities. The wines I found were average for the County, I found them a bit high in acid (which is OK) but maybe due to the climate nothing really had that juiciness to it. In the winter time they had these great little lobster rolls to go with a glass of white and that had us come here a 2nd time (unfortunately no lobster rolls this time).
Our experience was ruined by the hostess. She made us feel not welcome and was talking very quietly when walking us to our table. I had to ask her to repeat and still didn't get what she said. I tried three white wines and they all were just ok, too dry to my taste. We were there at 2 pm on Tuesday and they were already sold out of food in the restaurant. I gave two stars for the look and style. Great place to take photos. Was missing music for the vibe though.
Lovely garden space to relax and enjoy your flights
$14 for a small glass of Ontario wine seems very steep. The view was nice but wine was mediocre and overpriced
(Translated) excellent service and experience. no rush, nice tasting sitting while looking at the landscape. local food available on site. clean, warm, but very expensive wines. we recommend tasting and if your wallet allows it ... so much the better.
Lovely decor and friendly staff
Great ambiance. Overlooking a vast wineyard.
BEAUTIFUL! A must go visit in the County.
I came to this winery hoping to discover something new in the county. The winery charges 3.50$/2 ounce tasting! This is by far the most expensive I've yet seen in the region and overpriced. When I pointed this out (nicely) to the staff I got a bad reaction which was pretty much "take it or leave it". At this point we all left and they lost four customers. I haven't tried their wines and won't be back.
Best vineyard experience ever. Calmly tasted wines in the gorgeous vineyard in the County. One of the prettiest wineries I have ever been in Ontario. In love with this gigantic purple barn. ???? Excellent service!
Delightful outdoor area that has come about due to COVID, and wonderful staff and service
Great locale - nice backyard patio - their 2017 Grand Cuvée Pinot Noir is delicious - friendly staff - really popular place so come early or expect a bit of a wait - they also have a bottle shop so if you want to grab and go you can avoid the lines but I suggest a tasting flight if you can
Great wines
Amazing servers! Really passionate. You can tell they love their job!
Super knowledgable staff and absolutely beautiful vineyard and gardens
Enjoyable atmosphere very nice wines
Definitely in our top 5 wineries to visit in PEC. Can easily spend an entire afternoon sitting in the vineyard sipping their South Clos!
We spent a wonderful hour at Closson Chase Vineyards recently and were tremendously impressed by all aspects of our visit. The vineyard has such a beautiful and pastoral setting which enhances the experience. We were particularly pleased with the service and expertise exhibited by our server Katie. She took time to explain and answer all of our questions. Overall a fantastic experience.
Nice staff, but overpriced for the experience. Paid $35/person for a tasting with 4 wines. No option to choose the wines yourself for the tasting. Missing signage to show that tastings were being done up at the ridge production facility.
Great service. Lovely setting. Thanks.
Very nice establishment. Recommend the wine tasting with Mel for sure.
Such a fun time! The wine was very nice and the tasting we did was great. Our wine host knew quite a bit on the region and the wines produced ! Highly recommend
Love the gardens, nice outside atmosphere, friendly staff!
Great selection of wines, excellent unpacked Chardonnay. Pinot Noir options are spicy, smoky and mineral-rich, and delightfully thin. Great tasting barn and relaxing back patio. Dog friendly, bike friendly.
Service really know what they are doing, plus some amazing wine.
John and Katie were great at giving us the experience we were looking for in Prince Edward County. By far the most put together and organized winery in the county after covid and their wine is top notch. The girls will definitely come back here. Make sure if you are visiting the area for a winery that you include this one
Really awesome experience! Wine tasting in their garden was lovely, and our server was friendly and knowledgeable. A flight of 3 wines were $15, and a glass is $13-$15, which is fair in my opinion. Would've loved to enjoy some charcuterie or snacks with our tasting, but we were short on time. If you were in PEC and are interested in wine, you should definitely stop by.
Beautiful property and some nice wines. Not the greatest service on the patio though.
Great energy. Beautiful setting. Quality Pinot.
Very friendly service and incredible location for a tasting in the backyard overlooking the vineyard. Their wines are delicious.
Really nice winery. We went there and ended up spending a lot of time. While we were doing our tasting, the live music started. We stayed back n enjoyed more drinks, food n music. The person serving us wasn't really having a great day, lacked enthusiasm completely. Regardless, we enjoyed the wines from the ala carte menu versus the ones that were presented in the tasting menu. Overall it was a nice experience. Highly instagramable!
Location is stunning. Great space and atmosphere. Good wine but don’t get any food.
(Translated) Charming, relaxing and courteous are the words that resonate with me when I think about our visit. (Original) Charmant, relaxant et courtoisie sont les mots qui résonnent en moi quand je pense à notre visite.
Nice little winery... excellent views... nice selection of wines to try by the glass... albeit one of the more expensive ones that we checked out! *Tour tip* Avoid arriving by Chase, as that road is littered with potholes and will test your vehicles suspension!
Loved the tasting and hammocks ????
Waited for over 30 minutes just to be served water.
If you are looking for top tier wine experience in Prince Edward County look no further! Closson Chase is doing COVID right! The experience is relaxed and fun. We were seated in a beautiful garden in the shade (most tables have some form of shade. Our server was able to tell is vineyard specific terroir and what makes each individual wine stand out (a huge bonus as 2 from our party are in the industry). He was also able to find wines for our non-wine-drinker in the party. Our server, John was exceptional! The wines were some of the best wines, not only in Prince Edward County but Ontario. Definitely try their Grand Cuvee as they are beyond stunning and undervalued! Safe to say the vast majority of our bottles came from here. Overall, 11 out of 10! I cannot say enough about how spectacular our experience was!
Good wine and atmosphere but selection was lacking after a busy weekend.
One of my favourites in the County! One of the rare things COVID hasn't ruined. Sit in the back with a flight and some nibbles and you'll have a wonderful time. Those oak-y Chardonnays are to do for! Plus their (pre-COVID) charcuterie board was wonderful! The cold chicken chow mein is a delight!
We had an excellent time at Closson and Chase this past weekend. Cassidy offered excellent service and was super friendly. We had their Chardonnay and it was one of the best we've had. We bought two bottles to bring home. They also have a very cute purple barn. Would highly recommend
First class wine and the perfect set up. You select your flight and then move outside to enjoy it in the garden.
Amazing patio setup, Instagram moment!
Defiantly the best Chardonnay during our wine tasting. For $10 you can try 3 different wines. Hands Down their outdoor/yard area was the nicest and most relaxing spot amongs most of the wineries we went to.
Some of the best pinot I've had in the county. Knowledgable staff including Maxwell really understand their terroir.
We went for the tasting experience just because a friend told us the "purple barn" was really cute. In the end of the day, the tasting experience was amazing! It's more expensive than other tastings in the region, but it's certainly worth it. We've tasted 4 wines + a sparkling wine when we arrived, the sommelier was awesome and passionated, told us about the differences between the wineries in PEC and Niagara and some curiosities about the winery. The wines were also amazing - we bough some of them to drink at home! The only thing that could be better is that the tasting is in a different place, and not the barn, which is a little confused and we arrived a few minutes latter because of that.
We had both of their chardonnay and their sparkling. Don't go for the sparkling. Chardonnay was OK. Beautiful patio!
The barn was beautiful and the grounds were scenic, the wines were good too ????
My favourite vineyard in PEC. Always good for a calm sit and guaranteed good quality wines indicative of the region.
Best wines in Prince Edward county
Had a nice visit here. The barn itself is beautiful and stands out with its bold purple colour. We sat outside and had a wine tasting of three wines and it was just really peaceful and enjoyable to be able to do so. Personally I enjoy a wine on the sweeter side so there wasn't much up my alley but I think if you're a true wine connoisseur then this would be a wonderful experience!
Incredible wines - the loyalist Chardonnay was our fav! And the glassware was an incredible touch. It makes such a difference! And the garden sunshine in October? Talk about perfect
(Translated) I loved. Good service, very friendly employees and the garden where you can taste the wine is very well maintained and pleasant. I have found that at this vineyard glasses of wine are more expensive than elsewhere. (Original) J'ai beaucoup aimé. Bon service, employés très sympathiques et le jardin où on peut déguster le vin est très bien entretenu et agréable. J'ai trouvé qu'à ce vignoble les verres de vin sont plus chers qu'ailleurs.
Always the highlight of a County visit, and the latest addition of lobster rolls on weekends is a delicious and very welcome bonus!
Service extremely slow even though there was hardly anyone there. Portion sizes were very small. Definitely over priced and the wine was horrible. We dumped out half of our tasting and the table beside us left $50 of tasting on the table. Do not recommend.
Gorgeous vineyard. I can’t remember the man who helped my boyfriend and I but he was really awesome and explained everything great. Overall nice experience! Check out the hammock chairs too.. we liked them!
One of my favorite vineyard in Prince Edward county so far! Delicious chardonnay. Tasty lobster roll.. my bf & I were on a bike wine tour adventure and got caught under the rain. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend time. Great wine tasting, relaxed ambiance with live music in the renovated grange and beautiful set up outside. We didn’t wanted to leave even when the sun returned. A must.. we will return.
Amazing product and great staff. A must stop in the county!
35 acres of awesome - great selection and staff. Great atmosphere, dog friendly, lots of seating looking over the vineyards.
Personal opinion: Visited a few times now (5 stars), can't say enough. Quality, care & attention to detail with a great staff & ownership.
