Selection is there customer service is not. It's very easy to tell that this is a shop that gets by on pure numbers alone (being in Banff's downtown). As noted by other reviews the staff are a little over the top. We asked if he carried something and he was more than happy to spend several minutes bemoaning what is and isn't whisky or vodka and how it "should" be consumed. Did they have what we needed? Yes. Did we buy it? Nope! We strolled 40 feet across the street and got far better service - I recommend you do the same.

Shelves are poorly designed. There's different products on both sides with no separation between one side or the other. This means that if a product sells out on one side, the other side appears to have the price of the side that sold out. This happened to me last night - I thought I was buying a $35 bottle and only realized that I'd been charged $130 after I checked my credit transactions and the bottle had already been opened. In my case, the bottles had been overstocked and were actually on completely the wrong side, so the only way to tell would have been to carefully match the label to the price before purchase, or to catch the price on the screen before I tapped my phone. I went back to explain my situation and the man there was sympathetic, but there was no responsibility accepted on the part of the business for the error and I am still out $100 that I did not intend to spend. I understand that this was partially my error as I was not diligent in checking the price before purchase, but I believe the store layout/labelling is to blame as well, and some responsibility should be shouldered by the business for what was essentially a labelling error.

Staff are always unfriendly towards customers. Not to mention, none of the staff here ever ask for ID. My friends and I are all in our mid to late teens/early 20s and have never been ID’ed here. Not even once. Just walk a few steps up the road to liquor depot instead. EDIT: Maybe if your staff asked for ID you'd know if I were a 'fictitious' person or not.

I shopped here on my recent trip to Banff. The owner, or maybe he was the manager, RANTED on and on that Americans are f*ing idiots. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but not everyone cares to hear about it. He was one of the rudest people I have come across in my life!

The people running this business clearly do not like Americans. When she glanced at my California id while I was pulling out my credit card, she gave me attitude as if I had insulted her. I had a great experience with everyone else I met in Banff except the cashier I came across in this store. By the looks of previous negative comments, it seems like they do it to other people too. Never coming here again.

Weird customer service in this location. I asked the lady behind the till if I could have a plastic bag to carry my case of beer through the hotel lobby and she responded with "Do you really care what people think? Do you care if they see you holding your beer or not? If anything, they'd be jealous." That comment was a bit unnecessary, she could have just given me my bag and carried on with her day, but unfortunately whenever I come back to visit I won't be going to that location anymore.

I just walked out of Townhouse Liquor store on the corner of Bear St. and Wolf St. I was in the store at 3:30 pm, April 7th, 2019. The man at the cash was seemed angry about the ‘tourists’ in Banff! He was telling the couple ahead of me how “tourists are ruining Banff. I’m just being honest”, he said. He seemed irritated about serving the couple! I was astonished at his attitude. As I walked out, without my purchase, I said, “You have just lost my business.” My husband and I are Canadian, not that it should matter, and we have come to this area for many years to ski. If this store does not want our business or the thousands of other customers it makes money from, I would suggest the other liquor stores in Banff would be happy to serve you.

Owner doesn’t have a clear mask policy yet kicked me out of the store even though I’m exempt. Let’s his feelings get in the way of business. Proceeded to touch his mask then touch a bunch of bottles. Worried about enforcing masks but not wearing them properly or in a sanitary way. No logic here, I’d just go to a different liquor store.
