Overpriced food for very average meals. This was the first time experiencing very BLATANT RACISM by the waiter. The restaurant was quite empty when my dad and I dined there for dinner. There were only 4 other tables with people and 2 waiters. The waiter took our order and seemed annoyed we didn't want to order alcohol. He didn't bother to check up on our food to see how it was until we finished eating. It didn't bother me that much until I saw him serve dessert to the couple across from us and then come by 5 minutes later to check up on them. Their table was 6ft beside ours and he didn't bother turning around and checking up on us. He never even came by to fill our water. I would usually just say the service is bad overall but I watched him check up on all the other tables except for ours. This was RACISM and DISCRIMINATION. We were the only visible minorities in the restaurant (even though I am Canadian). Very disgusted by this treatment.

True gem in Banff. -1 for breakfast

Nice place, nice service. They had a good selection of fresh baked good and refrigerated good to eat. My partner had a cold coffee beverage that she enjoyed.

K Kealey

Relaxed and quiet spot for coffee with free refills on drip coffee. Had a brie grilled cheese and two deer walked by while we were chilling. Dog friendly spot.

Sunny P

Pretty decent. Asked for an extra hot mocha - it was tasty, but definitely not extra hot. I dislike drinking lukewarm drinks

venus genoveza Jones

The waiter, he has an excellent service. I forgot to ask his name.

Fran Couture

Very nice.

Good food and friendly service.

In short it's a good restaurant priced on par with a winter resort type area. The ambience is warm and cozy with a high end lodge feel. When I ordered coffee I was left with a carafe at my table for refilling which I appreciate over a constant interruption from a server. The service was very pleasant and food was quick. I had the benedict which unfortunately one egg was soft and one was hard this was a downside to me as benedict rings in at $17. I also found the hollandaise a touch on the bland side.

Buffalo Mountain Café is the pinnacle of the café experience. As someone coming from Europe, it's most difficult to find a place to go to that matches and exceeds the quality you might find in the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Italy and Germany. This place does it all. Freshly baked goods which are homemade every morning, wonderfully delightful staff and freshly made sweets, meats, sandwiches, coffees and much more. The place also stays amazingly clean and offers one of the most exceptional experiences in the Rocky Mountains.

The steak was cooked to perfection. I would recommend this restaurant.

Nice cozy place - quite location very relaxed. Friendly staff with attentive service. Good coffee and a number of prepared snacks to choose from plus some more substantial meals in the fridge you can take away

Came here for a cafe mocha this morning. The interior has a nice cozy feel. The clerk had a friendly smile as I came up to order. Mocha was chocolately and not super sweet which I enjoyed. Will come again.

Cute cafe, but service was incredibly slow. It was quite busy and only two staff. The veggie quiche was delicious. Chai latte was alright, not the best I've had.

A fine restaurant with great decor and vibe. Rustic mountain crossed with clean modern design. A lengthy list of cocktails and beers, although the wine list was limited. The menu is smaller as well, but entrée, appetizer and dessert all tasted delicious. The service was a little slow and inconsistent at times, but friendly and decent overall. Can’t go wrong with visiting The Prow!

Pauline TRANTER

Lovely food and tables not too close together which was nice. Loved this lodge

This restaurant is located inside a lodge/inn that’s away from the main streets of Banff. As a result, the dining room is nice and quiet if you’re looking for a less hectic dinner experience - great for dates. The menu features some game meat and bison, which seems to be common at many other restaurants in the area. We ordered their charcuterie board which had a nice selection of various meats; although my boyfriends favourite part was the mustard melon it came with! We shared a gnocchi (average) and a bison duo (steak was great while the short rib was a bit dry, sweet potato mash also tasted artificially sweet) as well which were good, but nothing mind-blowing. Overall, solid meal but for the price you pay (it’s not cheap), I would have expected the food to be a bit more contemporary or unique.

The only restaurant in the way up to tunnel mountain ...little bit expensive but worth the try, see for yourself

The charcuterie board was fantastic. Lots of lean meats, fresh bread, cheese and olives. Plenty for two people. Great service and good house wines. We'll go back next time we're in Banff.

(Translated) A small but very nice place (Original) Un lugar pequeño pero muy agradable

Food quality was good, servers very friendly overpriced, ambience needs improvement (poor playlist from 70's 80s-captain and tenille?-needs to be chill, table and chairs too cafeteria for the price of the food and drinks, maybe linen?. I expected more and would need to be convinced to return

Allan Cardinal

Nice. Not overly big which is nice. Food was good but small portions. Service was very good. Expensive

Kelly

Incredibly noisy. You can hear people banging their feet/shoes/boots on the stairs and overhead on the second floor. The toilet makes a very loud sound every two hours and you can hear water dripping in the walls. Very noisy sleeping conditions. Food at the main lodge was incredibly overpriced and not worth the money at all.

Awesome coffee and hot breakfast (breakfast sandwiches, wraps, etc). And amazing chocolate danishes. Make sure to get the danish warm!

Amazing place to stay, close to everything! Rooms are nicely appointed. Wonderful staff. Highly recommend having your meals at the lodge.

Nice place, friendly service, good food, Banff prices, electrical outlets for charging but slow wifi the afternoon we were there (even if there was less then 10 customers). Would come again but not for the wifi ????

Buffalo caesars to start as well as the charcuterie board. The server suggested a half portion which was more than enough for two of us. We ordered the bison duo & northern caribou for mains. The charcuterie was delish with a great variety of meats and a picked caper berry that we mistook for an olive that was also tasty. The pate was tasty with the cranberry preserves. Mains were equally delicious. Sadly ran out of room for dessert. Definitely worth a repeat trip. Friendly service in a wood cabin setting.

My wife and I were there for dinner celebrating our 15th anniversary! The reservation process was easy and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Our server, Sarah, was wonderful. Attentive and talkative and yet still allowed us to enjoy the evening. While they are renovated the main dining room, the restaurant has moved to the “convention” side. That changed nothing for us. The food and drinks were amazing. We drank Park Caesars and Wildlife Mules. Delicious and made with local craft liquor. We started with the charcuterie board. It was so good. Then our entrees arrived. My wife had the bison burger with homemade tomato soup. I had the chicken flatbread sandwich. All were delicious. And to top it off, when the staff realized it was our anniversary, the chef offered us dessert on the house. So we enjoyed apple pie a la mode. Our experience overall was superb. If you’re looking for a special place to spend hard earned money, you will not be disappointed or dissatisfied with Buffalo Mountain Lodge. Thank you to all who served us.

Carmen Gamble

We did the build your own sandwich and I couldn't eat more than one bite. Wilted lettuce, old cucumbers and one slice of meat. It also looked like someone sat on it before serving it. It's unfortunate because this is a prime location. Needs definite improvement.

M C

Cute little café, easy and convenient breakfast and lunch options. Very clean and friendly service!

Serena Ward

Having left banff downtown to do the hoodoo hike on an empty stomach, finding this cafe on my way back was a godsend! The toasted breakfast muffin was excellent, and many thanks to the helpful waitress who put me back on track to get to my hotel!

Angelica Jacobs

Cute little coffee shop, the two guys working were really friendly. Coffee was delicious! Love the little patio in the front!

Madison Willemstein

Yummy breakfast sandwiches and a cute cafe lodge to heat up in and eat breakfast. Would recommend for anyone looking for some good coffee and breakfast foods!

Emma Eastwood

Wonderful restaurant, amazing service, fantastic food, very peaceful. Definitely recommend!!!

Kind staff & lovely seating area out front.

Aubrie Hounjet

Beautiful place and super nice employees. Went for breakfast and it was decent food. I had the mushroom omelette which was kind of plain but I should of added condiments. Boyfriend got the egg scramble and he said it was nothing special. Still a nice place

James Guthrie

The peanut butter cheese cake was amazing!

(Translated) Unfortunately, the gap between reality and reality is wide. The food was good (salmon was a little dry, vegetables hard, chicken was very good). The service was terribly bad. Absolutely inattentive and slow and arrogant. A terrible disappointment and not worth the money. Went here for lunch today for the first time. Our server was great. I had the grilled bison pastrami sandwich and the other person had the artisan salad. I was happy with my meal but the artisan salad was pretty much just lettuce. There was a very, very small amount of cheese, fruit and cashews. For the price, you would expect there to be a lot more.

Chris CJF

Great place for coffee and breakfast rolls.

Scott MacNeil

Really enjoyed our dinner at The Prow! The vibe was great (relaxing), the food, drinks and service were all excellent. The staff were all super friendly. My wife and I shared 4 of the small/share plates, each of them were a good size and it was plenty of food overall. Our server suggested the cheesecake for dessert and it truly was one of the best I’ve had. Would definitely recommend The Prow!!

Christophe Sobolewski

Super cozy small place with great coffee and bites. Also sells homemade frozen meals.

Beautiful new restaurant in Banff! Highly highly recommend for a delicious dinner out

Mark Fisher

The portions were extremely small, literally comical. I was finished my meal in just over 2 minutes. It was tasty however. I have eaten here in the past on several occasions without disappointment. This experience was a bitter disappointment . I will not be back . The service was acceptable.

Wellokthen316

The coffee was great and the croissant was the best I've ever had. Nice ambience, cute little cafe right on tunnel mountain.

Lim Khia Kiam

Nice place for a quick bite or to pack something for day trip

Trevor and Darcea Klein

Went out for an anniversary dinner today. We both ordered soup and a main. It was cream of mushroom and chicken with wild rice and veggies. When the soup came, IT WAS HUGE! We had to get them to box the entrees because we were both full! If your ever in Banff for supper go to the Sleeping Buffalo in the Buffalo Mountain Lodge. Best soup I’ve ever had!!!

Alfonso Correa

Such a nice place... However, the burger was just ok... I mean, you have this beautiful place but the burger was just plain.

Was nice to find a restaurant and bar up on Tunnel Mountain. We stopped in after a hike, and brought our dog along, so the pet-friendly patio was great. Enjoyed the cold beer, a couple unique cocktails, and shared some of the smaller dishes. Mains looked great, but will try next time. Staff, music, food, drinks, atmosphere, decor, and selection were all a welcome surprise. Look forward to returning.

First time eating at the Sleeping Buffalo and we were more than satisfied with our dinner and breakfast. The tenderloin was cooked to perfection with appropriate portion sizes and prices that we considered reasonable for food quality and experience. The staff were friendly and efficient.

Breakfast buffet was amazing

Our experience was mediocre. I've never tried elk before so that was my choice. The portion was small and elk strip loin was very tough. I understand this meat is lean but it literally reminder me of a fast fry steak from sobeys with less flavour but for $44. My wife had the burger which was pretty good. I feel this place is a bit over rated The server was nice but seemed very short with us when we were clearing our bill.

Such a beautiful place! Friendly staff, good menu! Good buffet considering the size of the place, unfortunately for me the reason for 4 stars is that I got the Game Hash, a hash with wild meat, poached eggs and some corn/tomato mix which went together all well but it was like a soup, the potatoes were soaked and the meat couldve had some spice on it

Go visit amazing server Michael and enjoy a well priced and fantastic meal! Been here a few times now and are always blown away by the quality, portion sizes, atmosphere, and service. This time we tried the Ahi Tuna, Game Burger, and Linguini Pasta (with game chorizo). Amazing!

Best restaurant we tried in Banff in our week's holiday. Quality food (see earlier review) in comfortable surroundings with no distracting television screens. Service was friendly but not intrusive. We learned that they have a full team of specialist chefs, which explains why every course was as good as the last. Wine list is impressive. Overall, very good value for what you get. Not an every-day experience.

Chloe Lee

Very rude staff, terrible place ever

Angel Passaniti

We ordered room service on our stay here. The steak was cooked nicely medium rare as ordered, the onion mushroom jus or sauce was clearly and tasted burnt and there was a thick oil rim that was around the jus but the veggies had a good snap to them, the tasting chacut was a great idea with bison, elk duck but it tasted dry and was clearly pre prepared the bison page had one dry side where it has been sitting out or pre cut sane with the dessert the molton lava cake did not lose out but was cool in the centre the amaretto ice cream was delicious and the rye toast that came with the tasting plate was soggy great idea of a tasting plate but poor execution would have been better if it was made to order as the pre cut cured meats tasted dry.

(Translated) Slightly larger hotel resort with houses / apartments built in Canadian style. Neat and clean rooms with fireplace and sitting area. The whole is in need of renovation. Excellent breakfast that is not included with an overnight stay and the kitchen should also be complimented. Restaurant recommended but book on time. Free shuttle to the village. About 5/6 min. Good coffee and great looking desserts (: The service was also fantastic. I liked the cozy cabin look...perhaps a few cushions and comfy chairs would be a nice touch.

Very nice and cozy. Hot chocolate was the best I have had.

We ordered breakfast on Dec. 26th and it was absolutely fantastic!! The food was delicious and the gentleman who delivered it was so sweet & friendly! They even included cream for our coffee! Free delivery within the town of Banff was also so appreciated! Thank you for making the Christmas holiday even more special & enjoyable!!
