I love the ambience in the winery, can't believe it was a church before which the owners bought and transported to Avondale sky. They have acres of vineyard that is so beautiful. I bought their late harvest wine Martock and it really tastes good. Will be back there in August, this time for a tour.

So excited lockdown is over, Avondale was our first spot we hit up. Love the drive there and the wines are always fantastic. So grateful they were delivering during the lockdown too! Kitchen wasn't open yet but whatever they cooking smelled amazing, we will definitely be back to check it out!

I had a wonderful experience at this Winery , the wine is delicious , the old church and its story about how it got there is interesting , didnt eat there but am definitely going to return for lunch . Alexander Ross

Interesting reception/tasting building; pleasant, accommodating staff & ownership and superior wines.

The wine is delicious. But the restaurant - very tiny portions for the price, ran out of almost everything we tried to order (even of basic stuff like the sourdough bread!), and nothing extraordinary in taste. The lawn beside the patio was overgrown with weed and dandelions, not fitting for a classy winery. The servers were very nice though.

Shawn Brake

After hiking the Avondale Trail System today, what a surprise we had visiting the Winery - it is a stunning building and came home with three bottles of wine after tasting a few samples! We will be definitely coming back in the summer when the restaurant opens for a hike & lunch!

Lovely little spot with such a unique story. Tidal Bay is nice and refreshing and the menu is well put together and made with local ingredients. Wine selection is diverse with lots of options for tastings. The staff were friendly, welcoming and enthusiastic about telling us the history and very accommodating of our young daughter. We will be visiting again!

Some of the best food I've had in Nova Scotia ... And I've been living here for two years .

Forget about Wolfville wineries, Avondale Sky is the real deal. Beautiful property with a church turned winery, can't get any better than this. But mostly, their hospitality blew us away. Go for their award winning wines, at least. You won't regret it. Thank you for a wonderful evening Louis and Avila, we will be back soon.

Jecca Currie

Lovely light refreshing whites, delicious reds! Knowledgeable friendly staff in a unique setting... An absolute must visit on your Nova Scotia tour.

Margo Williams

Stewart Creaser and Lorraine Vassalo had a dream and it came true. They created a lovely winery off the beaten path and on the outskirt of the Annapolis Valley. They moved an old barn and a church to the current location of Avondale Sky Winery. While the wine tasting and several awards speak for themselves. The story gets you to drive out of your way, but the Tidal Bay wine gives you the memory.

Can only speak for the "Baco Noir Reserve" I got for a gift. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. This is some of the most putrid stuff I've ever tasted, it is not drinkable by any stretch of the imagination. I'd sooner drink a glass of vinegar. Avoid avoid avoid.

Very cute winery! Inside of an old church. The dessert wine was my favorite!

Had a wonderful delivery done by one of the owners, Karl. Couldn’t have been more polite and quick! Oh - wine is great too! ????

Kevin Stone

We stopped in for an impromptu look around after previously driving by, and our brief shopping experience was excellent. Avila and Sean were knowledgeable, kind and funny. Sean was warm & attentive and gave us a helpful & thorough explanation of every wine we asked about. He was able to quickly and expertly suggest perfect wine choices for us based on our current tastes and preferences. We will definitely be back!

This is a great winery... The main Building is an old church moved onto the property by the owners... It has a restaurant with wonderful foid... And it is also home to the annual Garlic Festival... :)

Awesome food and you have to have the ice cream for dessert

Firstly, the property is really nice. They old converted church just makes the feel of the place unique. Secondly, they had some excellent wines! Do a tasting, and learn for yourself! The younger girl who did our tasting was very knowledgeable and sweet. They have lots more than just wine to purchase. Be sure to make this one of your stops in NS wine country.

Tall Guy

An interesting stop when exploring the area, driving through the hills & vales after an overnight light snowfall. White outlined trees & covered roofs dotted along the way. This winery has a varied tasting menu (fee refunded if purchase made). Beautiful converted church hosts the wine shop & eatery. If you like port or a sipping wine, try Avondale Sky's Newport or the Newport Reserve, which would be especially nice for Christmas.

Nice area with a green walking space. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The wines were flavourful and distinct with a menu of wine friendly dishes. We believed that the establishment was dog friendly, I would describe it as "dog tolerant". Dogs must stay outside so if you are in a group someone has to wait while others shop. Saying that, staff did provide a bowl of water for our little guy.

Rod Busby

Quaint little winery where the main building is a converted church. On-site restaurant is a must try with great service, excellent food and a nice patio.

Wow!! Amazing find. You must go out of your way to visit this gem. I've tasted many wineries and this is one of the best. Also very beautiful setting in a repurposed church. Friendly staff. Go!

Leslie MacDonald

Beautiful spot and friendly staff. Amazing story about how they got the main building from a different town by floating it down the river. Well worth the drive to check this little gem out that's within and hours drive from downtown Halifax. Plus the wine is amazing there also so you know that's a bonus ????

J. Charles Trenholm

Great location, great people and for sure great wine!

Joe Azzi

OMG... ABSOLUTELY lovely in every way! Delightfully flavorful wines accompanied by delicious shared tasting platters! Our whole experience was exquisite!

Shelly Repchull

Staff are friendly, the walking trail nearby is wonderful. The cookie for the ice cream sandwich is too crunchy though.

Quaint spot. Average wine. Annoying cat. The building is an old church that was floated on a barge and moved to its current location.

Jordan Toth

Beautiful winery! I have been touring many around the province, and this is by far my favourite! Friendly staff. Maggie, Hannah, and Alana were all excellent! Great service, great wine. Will definitely return.

Chris

Friendly staff, great wine!

Daniel Rice

Beautiful winery. Worth the drive.

Guy Bernier

Beautiful region of Nova Scotia! An excellent winery and a taste for even the most refined of wine buyers..Not your average commercial operations. Small knowledgeable and refreshing!! Restaurant and walking trails bring your puppy their dog friendly!!

Went 2 years ago and we were not impressed with the wine. The story of the winery and the building were great so not a wasted visit. Two years later and WOW the wines are fantastic. Staff is friendly and really knowledgeable about the wines. We bought a case of various wines and a bottle of their ( port ( New Port) ) you must try the port with chocolate, so good.

Friendly, pleasant staff and delicious food and wine.

Ryanne Hamblin

Beautiful winery in an old church. Staff was very knowledgeable about wine and the wine tasting tour of 5x 1oz wine was fun to try out the different selection of wines they had. All the wines that were available for tasting were delicious and we bought a couple of bottles to take home. If you buy two bottles of wine, your wine tasting cost is covered. There is also a 5km walking trail that goes around the perimeter of the property that would be fun to explore when warmer.

Andrew Williams

Beautifully restored church from 1832 is the main building, original woodwork and stained glass windows...delicious, refreshing wines, interesting things to buy including art work and Sherman Hines photography. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff in a lovely spot! Visit when in the Valley!

Stewart and Lorraine: Just want to share our pleasure with our first bottle of Avondale Sky wine. We are visiting NS for Christmas from our "dry" arctic town and wanted a nice white wine to go with our fresh NS haddock. The clerk at the NSLC recommended the Avondale Sky-Tidal Bay which enhanced our dinner. A light, refreshing wine....it would be too easy to sit and sip a couple bottles. Congratulations on the winery. Looking forward to trying others before we return north. Cheers! John and Ruby Watson

Charming property and unique building (old church they floated down the river at high tide). Friendly staff are happy to help. Unique selection of experimental small lot wines. Always a pleasure visiting!

Tom Gillis

Good service and tasty wine and food.

Andrew Chomik

This place is awesome... When the winery was first established the owners relocated an old church by floating it down the river and making it rhe first thing you see when you pull intothe winery... There is also a great restaurant with a patio... :)

Joseph Brooks

We chose Avondale Sky for a special meal and it did not disappoint! Gorgeous location overlooking rolling hills, great wine and food (I was delighted to see steak tartare on the menu), and the staff & owners went above and beyond to welcome us at the table and tell us a little about their vineyard. Highly recommended!

Melina Pelletier

Marvelous place to stop.

David Fennell

Great wine and great personal touch at this winery!

Ken A

This was a very picturesque winery in the Annapolis Valley. The flights of wine had good variety with particularly good white wines (the Muscat was fantastic). However the food they serve was incredible - the brussel sprouts were something I wish I could take home with me and make on my own, and the pappardelle with pork shoulder was fantastic. 10/10 would recommend. Among the best gems in Nova Scotia.
