My experience at the winery was "once-in-a-lifetime"! My fiancé planned an unforgettable proposal amongst the breathtaking vineyard with the Toronto skyline in the background. Thank you to all staff, especially Jake Hamm, who helped my fiancé coordinate this moment. We can't wait for our next trip to the winery; hoping for this August (our 1 year!). Cheers!

Cristina Vasilenco

Good wine, good winery.

Rita Siprak-Weill

Loved the wines we tasted here over the 4th of July weekend and the pricing was fantastic. Had a great hostess/server that explained the nuances of the wine who really knew her stuff, Veronica. This will definitely be a place we stop every time we come up to Niagara. Had a really hot day but sat out under the covered deck enjoying the view and a couple glasses of wine after the tasting. Went home with a case to enjoy at home.

Great wines and a wonderful view of the peninsula from the patio!

Abby at Megalomaniac was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and eager to help me find my favourite wines. As an amateur wine connoisseur, she listened attentively to shape my tastings to ensure that I would be satisfied. I am so impressed and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I look forward to returning soon. In the meantime, I will continue to enjoy the Homegrown Reisling as my drink of choice!

Lovely location, friendly staff, rather small tasting when paying, but staff tried to help out where we expressed an interest. Looking forward to trying again

Finally got to do a tour at Megalomaniac! Allan walked us around the vineyard. Super knowledgeable! What a beautiful afternoon in an incredible setting. Can't wait to come back for dinner!! Thank you Allan! Great job!

Had dinner at Megalomaniac Winery. The food was so good !!! My parents each had a Lobster Roll and I had the Porchetta Sandwich. Amazing !!! Nothing comes with the sandwiches, you can order small plates of things though for extra. Amazing view and so relaxing !!! My only issue i had and it is small that my dad doesn't drink wine and he asked for a pop but they don't sell it. He had to settle for water. Families were there with small children so what do they drink, water too ... They never offered any other drink.

I want to love Megalo. I've been coming here, any many other local wineries, for years and now live close by. Time and time again I visit hoping to find different results, but the staff and atmosphere remain stiff. The wine is great - it speaks for itself. But nothing makes up for the lack of hospitality. Hopefully they will learn - as this seems to be something locals are all aware of - and improve. But maybe not...they do have a wine called Pompous after all.

Jerry Bilous

One of my favourite wineries in the region with a great tasting room, with many great selections to choose from... I can't walk away from this place without a half a case...

Sophie Giorno

I loved the property. I mentioned many times that I had never seen so many grapes before!! You get a beautiful view and I love the names of the wines. Cute and clever. Service was a bit stuffy though.

Peter Bosi

Gorgeous location, menu isn't the most inclusive for dairy free options but could just be a covid thing

Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Very good wines available to sample and purchase. Our visit happened off season and on a horribly windy day so we had the full attention of the staff as we sampled a "flight" of wines until we made our selections to buy. The location which is at the peak of an escarpment provides a commanding view of Lake Ontario to the north and vineyards to the south. Looking forward to returning in summer for wine and cheese on the patio.

I truly enjoyed the local squeeze red... I am not an expert but it made me feel so happy and the taste was delicious... i was always a bit concerned about the bitter taste or the lingering taste but i felt that this was a huge breakthrough for me to really enjoy a glass of wine like i never did... i read almost the whole bottle with my pizza but left a bit in the fridge...and even after 3 weeks the WINE was in peccable..and BEAUTIFUL. Thank you for helping me change my mind about pleasure.

So good, highly recommend the wine, food and atmosphere!

Maureen Linehan

Beautiful wines, large and accommodating tasting room and the wines are very affordable. We loved the Big Kahuna! The grounds have some of the best views around. Highly recommend this as a stop on your wine touring adventure.

Scott Shannon

Beautiful view, best in the area. Really good wines and fantastic staff. The winemaker Chris took us down for a private tour when we showed interest. It was during harvest and he was probably working 12-16 hour days but he took the time for us. Really nice place well worth the visit.

Alejandra Bauer

This location offers amazing vistas from a covered patio. Unfortunately, we weren't wowed by the food; however, we would willing to give it another shot simply because the views and service were that good.

Loved it! Beautiful location, great staff and very accommodating. The wines themselves are fantastic and fun. I called in advance for a tour, but called the morning of our tour and asked for an earlier time. They were kind enough to move our tour to 12:00. Unfortunately, we are still terrible at scheduling and arrived far too early. We found it easy to keep busy for 45 minutes while we waited, wandering around the tasting room and grounds, taking fun pictures in their infinitely cool facility and tasting while we waited. Our tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable and not at all pretentious. The whole place is beautiful, even the cellar, since that is where they used to do tastings. We got to see their offices and upstairs rooms and I cannot imagine a more beautiful view or a more beautiful office area. When we left, they even comped us the hilarious t-shirt I wanted to buy. When we tried to explain it was our own fault that we were early and they were on time, they wouldn't hear it and insisted we take the shirt. Great wines, great people, great location. I really hope they start opening for events soon because I cannot imagine a nicer place for events.

Anne McMillan

We had such a great day at Megalomaniac winery. First a half hour guided walking tour through the vineyards, then lunch on the patio. Spectacular views! Seriously try the beef brisket eggs Benny, so good!

Rachel Beletic

I was so excited to go to megalo however we showed up with a group of 10 and were going to be charged $25 per person for a tasting. Every other winery has been accomadating to us with no other additional charges. Needless to say they lost business today.

Mara Cole

We stopped in as part of the Niagara Icewine Festival, and everyone was SO friendly. The space is absolutely spectacular, with what HAVE to be the best panoramic views from the winery. We ended up staying to taste a lot of wines, and loved them, taking some home. Great visit!

I was here enjoying drinks over the weekend. The patio space was set up so nicely, such beautiful views and their menu is priced well. The service I received was top notch, Alexis was our server- she was kind, attentive, knowledgeable with her recommendations and extremely friendly! I will definitely be recommending Megalomaniac to all of my friends and family. Will most definitely be returning in the future!

Linda Sicoli

Amazing spot with amazing wines! What an excellent personal experience. Highly recommend

Bushra Alam (Nanoslam)

This was the winery that our Uber driver suggested we visit the last time we were in NOTL. We didn’t make it then but this past weekend as we were driving back to the airport in Toronto, we decided to stop by check it out! And boy did we regret not going there before! This winery is amazing! It’s on top of a small hill, the building itself is so beautiful with outstanding views of the landscape. The names of the wines were so funny. We didn’t plan on doing tastings since we were in a rush to get back to catch a flight but we got a message to bring some wine so we ended up buying a bottle of Sonofabitch ???????? to take back that we tried. Will have to come back again here!

Great views and friendly staff. My boyfriend and I know little about wine, but our server kindly humored us with some great recommendations and insight (wish I could remember her name!). Really enjoyed ourselves. Would definitely recommend.

Megalomaniac Winery was our wedding venue in June 2019. I can truly say choosing Megalomaniac was my biggest regret with the wedding. Every time I think of our wedding, I'm overwhelmed with anger and anxiety over how things unfolded throughout the months of working with Megalomaniac up to the wedding date, and even post-wedding. To summarize, the experience was so terrible it led us to consult with our lawyers, frantically search for other venues 2 weeks before the wedding, and dispute erroneous post-event credit card charges that we were unable to recover. Unfortunately, due to the tight timeframe we were left with no choice but to stay with this venue for our wedding. Let's start at the beginning, Megalomaniac's Event Manager Jake is a charming salesperson that is all too eager to pour you a glass of sparkling wine and spew promises that he has no authority to and cannot deliver on. When he dropped the ball the first time, he was nowhere to be found, did not take responsibly and did not speak up or advocate for us despite being our point of contact all the way up to this point. Just weeks before the wedding, Megalomaniac decided to do major construction on the exterior patio of the venue and they didn’t bother to tell us. We only found out because our caterer ended up being on site and saw the last minute construction. This was the outdoor area where we had planned to host both the ceremony and reception dinner for our summer wedding. This caused to scramble at the last minute and incur extra decorating costs due to the new structure they put up, which completely changed the look of our wedding which was planned to be an open terrace wedding. We ended up negotiating with their CFO Ryan to rectify our concerns but it was quickly apparent how out of touch he was with weddings, being so defensive and completely unempathetic to our situation. Despite disappointing us time and time again, it's clear Megalomanaic executives do not value customer service and did not do anything to make us happy. In fact, just 2 days before our wedding, they pulled out of our agreement to use John Howard's (the owner) estate for our wedding pictures despite being promised this for the entire 10 months we were working with them. Ridiculous, unprofessional and spiteful behaviour! Megalomaniac has no business being in the wedding industry. If you do choose Megalomaniac for a wedding venue for whatever reason—I can't imagine you will after reading this review—make sure you get all details discussed and agreed upon written into the contract. And ensure that everything you agree upon in every subsequent meeting written down as proof because you'll need it for later when you file a claim with your credit card for erroneous charges. For example, they didn’t get our guest count correct and have failed to update the charges on our credit card, which we also didn’t authorize. They just used the old credit card number they had on file for an earlier payment we made. It is so silly that there's zero trust and goodwill with Megalomaniac and that agreements made during in-person meetings (with witnesses) wouldn't be honoured. Honest advice to brides and grooms; you'll be stressed enough during wedding planning, avoid this major headache and choose another venue that's more experienced with weddings since this will be one of the biggest days and moments of your life and you don't want Megalomaniac ruining it.

Great experience. Our server was new but you wouldn't have known. She was informed and friendly - great customer experience. Tasted some lovely wines and enjoyed the quirky names :)

Beautiful patio space. Great service and great food/drinks!

This is a great counterbalance. The reviews of the wine never truly brings out the theology of the miscellany. I empower myself with every bottle, and leave none for you guys when I enjoy your wine. It's great that all vineyards share the same quality of wine making.

Andrea Boyko

A most enjoyable experience. The wines had amazingly interesting and complex noses. So many different notes and spices in each different varietal. The staff person was wonderfully accommodating and even suggested the winery a few hundred metres away for our lunch. I would recommend that people try flights at this winery. The private tasting room is reserved for members only. Membership is different at this winery and you can choose to order or not order the selected wines they choose for you.

I've been here multiple times and each time gets better than the last! We regularly come for the 'Sunset Jazz' nights and they're magnificent. Last year we also came for the Christmas Jazz. It's always a fun night out of the house with great music and a few glasses of great wine. Juliet Dunn is fantastic and always entertaining. The servers are very friendly and knowledgeable. Will be back for the next jazz night!

Allan Donat

Always enjoy our visit to Megalomaniac, the friendly, knowledgeable staff and great view from a beautiful winery. And of course the excellent wines that are offered.

Justin Sinclair

Very knowledgeable about the wine, picked out great wines I loved, it was a hard choice! Veronica was great, lovely personality and helped pick out a great wine for me. The bravado is amazing! Thank you so much!

Great wine. Was part of the wine club but left due to certain staff attitudes. Unless you're mid 40s and up don't bother. You're looked at as an inconvenience even though you're spending over $150+ per visit.

Jonathan Boey

Excellent food, great view of the vineyard on the patio, staff are very friendly and professional.

Homegrown is my favourite wine. I realized I was out of it going into this quarantine. So I decided to look at the winery’s website instead of going to the LCBO because I am auto immune compromised right now and can’t leave home. I ordered six bottles that came with free delivery and a 10% discount as well. The next morning I got a phone call explaining that this was to be shipped by Canada Post. Because I’m auto immune compromised that wouldn’t work for me necessarily if it ended up at the post office. They kindly offered to have somebody from the company who lives near me drop it off at my doorstep. I am overwhelmingly grateful and thankful for this act of kindness. Especially right now. I’m happy to support this great business!

Marian Pozzolo

Thoroughly disappointed that booking a brunch doesn’t mean you can taste the wines. We went in the day before to book what we thought was brunch and a tasting only to be rudely told we couldn’t taste the wines unless we booked the tasting separately. It would have been ideal to have been told the rules the day before when we were in the winery. Not impressed.

It's another winery, but as my aunt and I accidentally ventured upstairs to the private rooms, instead of being kicked out one of the staff took his time to give us an entire tour. Didn't try the wine, but the scenery and building are beautiful

Great winery in the area. The tasting they provide was one of the better we went to. They give you a decent amount of wine per glass and a charcuterie board. We went on a tour of the cellar as well as the roof which offers amazing views.

I absolutely love the Much Obliged red! Great idea behind it too! Well done, all around!

Absolutely flawless curbside pickup operation! So nice and easy - you phone and pay for what you want, tell them your car model and license plate, and then you drive up outside their gorgeous building, someone comes out and sees your car, double-checks what you are picking up by speaking loudly from like 10 feet away, and puts it in your trunk. Love the wines, too! It's really brightened my covid-19 experience. Thank you, Megalomaniac!!! <3

Lihry Burville

We had a lovely experience with our wine tasting there. Abby was the best in explaining the varieties of wines. Thank you so much!

Linda Khv

My favorite of the region! After we tasted a few wines at the bar, we had the chance to visit the upper floor and balcony where we also met the owner! Smart and very friendly gentleman. He suggested a few more wine and there, I just fell in love with his ROSE! Congratulations Magalomaniac, you got this! And Thank you for this great time!

Scott Norris

Definitely one of the go to places in the Niagara region especially if you are looking for red wines! If you haven't been you are missing out. The tasting is also very nice due to its location on a ridge overlooking the vineyard.

I am sadly giving megalomaniac 2 stars after a very disappointing dinner experience this evening. There's no denying this winery is beautiful and has spectacular views from its patio. Décor, chairs, lighting and views were striking. Unfortunately, the dinner menu comes nowhere close to impressing or leaving any kind of lasting impression. This is not the place to go for dinner. Menu is small and offered very little to a gourmand- lobster roll or brisket sandwich was the only "main" dish. Summer side salad was tasty but very common among day-to-day Canadian cuisine. Just not a dish I'd expect to see listed on a menu that is already limited in choices. In addition of being disappointed in the menu, the wait staff was seldom seen. It was difficult to catch their attention when looking to have our water refilled or order a glass of wine. They seemed disengaged and uninterested in creating a positive dining experience.

Chris Courville

Only reason it’s not a 5 star is because it’s a little on the higher priced side. :)

Despite the fact that this winery has the best location in the up and coming wine region of Beamsville, Ontario and that the tasting room is tastefully decorated, the staff here may have some issues with customer service. That generally is a reflection of the ownership, in this case John Howard, who may be described as the ultimate megalomaniac. As with most product in Ontario the wines are pricey and lack the pedigree of the old world offerings. Mr. Howard is trying desperately to mimic the quality and style of the famous Bordeaux region wines by hiring a French winemaker but the reds still carry that "green pepper" characteristic or even hints of my grandmother's home made borscht. Not that I wish to insult her fine soup but I'm never certain that I want my wine to taste like it. Although it's encouraging to watch wineries in Ontario blossom as they are, they are still a long way from the fine traditions of France, Italy and Spain and the slightly higher price points make them less "palatable". I'll stay with a good Rhone anytime over anything from Megalomaniac.

Pol Astri

Beautiful winery, main house placed on the top of a hill in the middle of the vines. Excellent service every time I visited. Product is very good and selected variety available with a touch of exclusivity. Love it.

Ecem Yelekli

Place was full of people. It has a both restaurant and retail part. We could not attend the wine tasting sessions because of Covid ,it wasn't open. However, we would like to return for wine tasting. İt has a very nice patio with a very nice view. You can try and buy one of the wines. We bought it, however we didn't like much. We can try other kinds.

Had a great experience today sampling some fine wines. The cost to get in the door is easily recouped if you plan to buy some bottles, they even give you 4 of there sampling glasses. Well they are not glass but they retail at most wineries for 5 dollars each.

Worst. Experience. Ever. I can't believe the level of unprofessionalism exuded by Megalomaniac! When we booked our event for this Summer late last year they mentioned NOTHING about major renovations taking place that most definitely affect the allure and ambiance and wonderful views of this place, which is the whole reason we selected this venue in the 1st place! They did not even bother to inform us that this would be happening (very sneaky-slimy). We had to find out randomly from a friend. When we confronted the management team at Megalomaniac, they basically shrugged their shoulders and offered us no proper explanation or acceptance of responsibility except for a very minor rebate off the grand total. Our lawyers are going to have a field day with this ridiculous situation and less than professional management team. Once we're done with them, Megalomaniac will NEVER pull a stunt like this and ruin somebody's special occasion ever again. We'll see what happens but either way; BUYER BEWARE !!

Adam Noble

Really enjoyed the wine tasking and had the pleasure of having a chat with the owner. Will definitely go back again.

Azad Jalali

Beautiful winery, situated up on a hill overlooking the lake and the landscape all around. The wines have unique and funky names and the quality is top notch. Worth a visit everytime.

Aryesh Arya

Lovely people and do not forget to try their Ice wines. One of the best Ice wine across Canada. I recommend this place to everybody even if you are not that big fan wines but do try it once. Just take a little detour on your way to Niagara.

Doug Gierula

Great day out in the Twenty Valley. Had a wonderful tasting and super helpful advice from excellent staff

Ed Sullivan

Wow..... so, we showed up on a Friday morning, right at their opening time (in February) with a tasting pass from a local boutique hotel that entitled us to a wine tasting, charcuterie board, and tour....but the pass did indicate that reservations were required.... we just wandered in off the streets and decided to take our chances.... Staff bent over backwards to make us happy.... Let me just say that Megalomaniac might have the BEST vistas in the region.... This place is utterly stunning AND they have the wines to back it up!!! It was fun to get the history of the winery and a tour of the wine cellar that explained a little of the growth to where they are today. Staff was attentive without being overbearing. Out of several wineries we visited that day, Megalomaniac was a standout!

What an amazing experience. we had our wedding ceremony and reception here early September and we couldn't have been happier. The venue and the views are just stunning, the staff were brilliant and couldn't have been more helpful. we'd also like to thank Jake, the events manager and John, the owner, who were so accommodating with all of our requests, they really did go above and beyond for us, and we're so thankful. we would highly recommend this incredible winery for any couple looking for a wedding venue thank you so much to the whole megalomaniac team for an unforgettable day - Charles and Aurora

We visited Megalomaniac's Dining Space on Labour Day Monday, and had the pleasure of meeting Alexis, who went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable experience. The scenery and ambiance, sitting on the covered patio, was brilliant, and the views from the upper deck patio, stunning, not to mention the food and beverage, which also deserves its moment in the spotlight. Despite having to be conscious of food allergies, the menu was very easy to navigate, with a host of options for any concern. We had the Lobster Roll (gluten free), Porchetta Sandwich, and a summery salad with fresh peaches, cucumbers, tomato and watermelon, along with the Sparkling Personality (a sparkling Riesling). We will DEFINITELY be returning, and requesting Alexis, when we do. If you are considering a visit to wine country, definitely add a stop to Megalomaniac on your list.

This is my First review I have ever posted. But we felt like we had To. I went to the patio on Saturday July 17th 2021 with my two daughter's and husband. Kinda sad display of wines. Beautiful property but the staff was in no way pleasant, polite or knowledgeable. Every wine was overpriced and underwhelming. All in all aesthetically very pleasing but everything else came up really short of even okay.

Toronto Haze

Oh my goodness!! What an incredible experience!! Got to our tasting pretty late but they still accommodated us and gave us an incredible tasting with incredible wine!! Love having this kind lady, and another employee Warren as our hosts. Warren was so amazing!! He was funny, knowledgeable and easy to ask questions to, plus he took photos for our friends’ special birthday event, and was such a bright personality to be around! Every employer’s dream I can imagine. The venue was spectacular with gorgeous views of the vineyard as well as the countryside in general. Bought a bottle of Pink Slip for home. First experience at a tasting and I will definitively be back!! Thank you Megalomaniac for an awesome time!!

Stopped in for a tasting and had a blast! Wines were delicious and we learned so much about the history as well as wine making! Great afternoon with friends. Great staff!! Meglo also offers a great wine club!

Today, we enjoyed a lovely wine tasting at Megalomaniac. Not only was the wine fantastic, the view was beautiful. The level of service provided to my husband and I was first class. We have different loves when it comes to wine and the patience of ensuring both of us were cared for is one to be applauded! If visiting Canada near the Falls or Toronto, you must visit.

With the abnormally warm November weather, my wife and I decided to take a trip to the Niagara region and enjoy the views and tastes it has to offer. We took a stroll up the winding drive to the winery on top of the hill and marvelled at the views of Lake Erie spanning for kilometers all the way across to Toronto. Just a breathtaking view. As we made our way inside and dealt with all Covid precautions to ensure safety, we were greeted by Jasmine who would later guide us through our tastings. She was a delight and full of insight and knowledge and really made the experience. Cheri the General Manager also came over to greet us and find out how our experience was. Such a warm welcome from the staff here! And the wines were great too! After all was said and done, we happily strolled back down the lane, enjoying the views, with our hands full of bottles of wine to explore and enjoy. We can't wait to visit the region again and will definitely be dropping in for the warm greetings of the team at Megalomaniac!

Megalomaniac sits atop of a hill overlooking their winery so this is a place to be for some great views of the never ending green landscape. The wines are known to have cool names like "selfie" white wine to fit with the millennial generation of wine enthusiasts. Sit in the patio just outside their winery on a nice breezing day and sip on a nice red or white they have to offer.

This winery is beautiful! The views and grounds are some of the best I have seen in Niagara. I could see any event at this location would be a step above, just on the grounds and facilities alone. Staff was friendly, quick and knowledgeable. The wines are great. Love the unconventional names and unique flavors. Their riesling was one of the best I have tasted in the region. Would also highly recommend their Merlot, it is in a word... perfection. Whether it is a location for an amazing event or to find some great Niagara wines check this place out.

I took out of town guests to the winery for a tasting, to purchase some wine and to see the amazing view which Meglomanic boasts as one of the "must see" features of their location. Upon entering the winery (which only had about 10 customers in total)we decided to go up to the upper terrace first and proceeded to the stairs. On the way up we passed a staff member that was with other customers who asked us if she could help us in a not very friendly way. We advised her we we going to the upper deck and she said nothing. When we arrived at the 2nd level a much friendly staff member advised we needed a staff member to accompany us and asked a young man to go with us. Just at that point another staff member came up stairs and very rudely advised us that the terrace was for wine members only and we needed to go downstairs immediately but did not offer to help us with a tasting or anything. Needless to say we did not taste or purchase any wine and while departing confirmed their was no signage indicating the common visitor was not allowed up to the terrace. There was a sign that stated groups of more than 4 needed to check in and as we were only 4 that wouldn't have applied to us. As a Niagara residence who has out of town guests I will not be returning to Meglomanic nor will I recommend this winery to anyone based solely on the rudeness of the staff. I was actually embarrassed at the way my guests were treat at what is suppose to be a tourist destination. We then proceeded to Tawse winery where they were very friendly and not only had a wonderful tasting but also purchased some wine.

Paid for a wine tasting on patio and it never happened. Would not recommend it.

Where do I even begin? Rude staff, TERRIBLE customer service and overpriced wine. Visited Megalomaniac today with a group of friends, some which travelling from overseas and excited for their first wine tour. After a very pleasant experience at another Niagara winery, we were excited for our next stop - We were greeted by a male staff manager and taken to a private 'overrated' room for our tasting. The older female employee who led our tasting rushed through the tasting quicker than I could finish the drop of wine that was poured. Mind you, a $25 drop of wine. When booking this tasting with a manager, she failed to specify the tour would cost $25 and ONLY $15 will be credited back to you with a bottle of wine purchase. When paying for my $54 purchase of wine with my debit card, I seen the system approved the transaction and I began to walk away to join other members of my group. As I neared my group maybe 6 feet away in the shop, the female employee began screaming at me suggesting I did not pay. It was extremely embarrassing and belittling to say the very least. Especially on a Saturday afternoon with many people in the area. (Not quite sure if she needs to be better educated on ringing through purchases or customer service.) What was suppose to be a day filled with good company and good wine was ruined after this stop. I would STRONGLY discourage anyone from adding this winery as part of their Niagara wine tour. The view is breathtaking but that is all I can speak positively on about this winery!

Had an excellent brunch on July 4th. Meatballs, pork sandwich, waffles w/seasonal fruit, breakfast potatoes. We loved everything! Server (Erica) was excellent- very friendly and knowledgeable. Views were spectacular. A huge plus that the hostess was kind enough to ask if we wanted shade or sun prior to seating us. Covered patio made it very comfortable for us. Thanks for a fabulous meal Yellow Pear- will be back again soon!

The owner is a gentleman ! Thanks to him for everything !

Beautiful winery, good wine, nice servers. However, the owner was very rude to our group of 19 women since we were "too loud" and disrupting the other patrons. Definitely will be going to the other beautiful winery across the street in the future since the owner doesn't understand customer service. Thankfully his staff helped make up for his comments which is why I gave the winery a 3 - one star for wine, one for décor and one for serving staff. If you like to smile and converse with your group this is probably not the winery to go to. Lots of rules and signs are posted.

Kat Elesin

Absolutely cannot rave enough about this beautiful winery with exceptional customer service! The wines are quite delicious and I loved the titles of the wines (quirky and funny). The estate itself is simply immaculate. The Canadiana theme is a beautiful homage and every little detail was stunning (from the wooden chairs to the granite). I recommend this winery to anyone and everyone! Thank you Megalomaniac for making our trip absolutely wonderful!

Pleasantly surprised. Veronica was the best Sommelier/Hostess I've come across. Knowledgeable, funny and generous. I'll be taking my out of town friends there. Often.

Liliane Desbaillets

Jessica gave us a wonderful experience! Her knowledge and experience made for a very enjoyable tasting, we can’t wait to return! Their rosé bubbly is some of the best in the region!

Kevin

The homegrown 2016 is less than be desired... Sour, bitter, not the best JH has to offer.

Randy Meyskens

Excellent hidden gem (literally). This winery is a cavern built in the side of a hill. It is a nice drive up to their cavern which is totally underground except for one side. An amazing view of the lake, the fields below, and you can see St. Catharines as well. Once inside the wine tasting area is inside where their wine is stored. We sampled some Whites and Reds. Loved the Riesling. We will definitely return to this place in the future.

Not our first visit and certainly not our last. Promptly welcomed in by friendly staff. A few new wines were recently released and our tasting bar associate expertly guided us through them. What I find so interesting about some of Megalomaniac's wines are that the blend breakdowns change completely from vintage to vintage. Our wonderful associate explained how the winemaking team isn't afraid to mix it up and try new things; that's a fun and enjoyable approach to some of their wines. Of course many of the classics remain and they hit their style year after year. We left with four bottles, big smiles, and plans to visit again in the near future.

Its a blessing to have such beautiful bounty right at our finger tips in Ontario. The vineyards are lined up with such care and attention to precision...Reminded me of cornrows (the hairstyle). The tour guide Jeff was so nice and amicable...I recommend visiting. They also make award winning wine...the only nit picking otem is that I think they should have top class French fries and coffee to go with there top tier Porketta sandwich and Chocolate Cake ????

Caitlyn O'Reilly

Had an amazing wine tour with Veronica. I have a whole new appreciation for wine.

Fun place to go! Beautiful scenery!

We went there on a group winery tour this past weekend and was disappointed on how we were treated. A group of us aged 30-60 years old were asked to leave because we were too loud. They had a station set up to take pictures at with top hats and a bench, so we were having fun taking pictures. The manager that was there that day shushed us and watched us as we left. I guess if you go there with just a couple people you are fine, but don’t go as a group. Very disappointed in our stop! Didn’t buy wine and won’t be back there even though wine tasted delicious.

It is beautiful!

If you're looking for over the top decor and a view, this is your winery! The second floor has a stunning balcony that overlooks the escarpment and the vineyards! The decor is ritzy and soooo over the top! Makes you feel like you are in a movie! The service is amazing, and the wines have very entertaining labels that suite the theme of the whole "narcissistic" venue. Highly recommend! I always bring out of towners here for the ambiance!

Dan & Tracey Vickruck

Veronica at the tasting bar was fantastic. Loved their "Sparkling Personality" wine.

Hyeonji Lee

We came here because of other reviews talking about the views and the fact that they have food to pair with wine, BUT our experience here was appalling, to put it lightly. First of all, no food, but that's understandable. They ran out. The wine was drinkable and our server was nice and she basically sold the wines to us, so we decided to buy a bottle and a couple of glasses. Then we went upstairs for a better view because the glass door leading upstairs was open but then the owner basically kicked my parents out saying "this place is private" and patronizing us saying "there's clearly a sign that says 'private' on the glass door downstairs" (spoiler alert, it doesn't) then I said "well I didn't see it" as we walked away. Then he proceeded to follow us downstairs to chase us out. This is NOT something the wine can up for, no matter the quality. We appreciate good wine and appreciate the good experience visiting wineries and tastings. But it's telling when wineries like chateau mouton in Bordeaux have the best servers, experiences, and customer services, wineries like Barboursville in Virginia have fun servers, much more tastings for your buck, and better view than megalomaniac and then wineries like megalomaniac decides it's okay to have cheap names for wine, franzia quality wines, and HORRIBLE customer service. This is disgraceful and disrespectful to all the other wineries in the North America trying to make good wine for people to enjoy. Megalomaniac winery isn't in it to make wine for people but for some rich dude to make profit. Our awful experience was NOT the fault of any server or manager but of the owner, to reiterate.

Our group of 10 just stopped by Megalo excited to explore the site and taste the wine. Upon arrival an attendant greeted us hastily and indicated that we had to pay $25 per person for a tasting since we had a group larger than 8. (I should note that $15 of the fee went towards a bottle of wine, but what if we didn’t want to buy a bottle?). It is frustrating and disappointing to be told we had a set fee based on our group size. The manager also said they were busy with another promotion, but there were only 10 other people in the winery - so that didn’t check out. Every other place we have visited has been accommodating and we have had no issues. Megalo has lost our business indefinitely as a result of this experience.

Myself and my partner from Australia were fortunate enough to have the wonderful experience of visiting Megalomaniac Winery in Vineland. It was a unique experience. We tell all our international visitors how wonderful the Barossa Valley is in South Australia however we did not realize the competition we were against in Toronto! The winery was beautiful, the views extraordinary and the staff professional yet friendly. We loved the wines and especially the twist on the labels. Louise, my partner, works in the travel industry and will be advising her customers to visit Megalomaniac Winery; well done John Howard!

Abby was truly fabulous! She knows her stuff and her recommendations were actually the ones we ended up buying. Would definitely recommend this on any wine tour. A whole-hearted thank you to Abby, you truly made it a welcoming, educational and above all enjoyable experience!

Having brunch alfresco at a winery which is at the top of a hill overlooking a vineyard and the Niagara region, well, you can't beat that! A great menu with some unique items along with some terrific wine along with warm and friendly service makes it a memorable meal. Oh yes, your brunch receipt gives you a 10% discount in their wine shop. Win/Win!!!!

Every wine was a winner! We went here for a double date. It was a great time. The grounds are gorgeous. The staff was friendly and knew their product. Between the 4 of us we were able to try many of the wines. We liked them all. I personally am not a fan of wine, but they have something for everyone. Try the Sparkling Personality. I think it would be great at a wedding. I got a bottle for an upcoming anniversary party. I highly recommend this winery.

Beautiful country side winery overlooking the vineyard. Walking into the winery from the parking lot is a bit messy in the winter. It isn’t paved and the lot is below the main doors. Inside the view is stunning of the vineyards. There is a members’ only lounge where members can relax and drink wine. The tasting bar is huge and fits many people around it. Abby poured our wine and guided us through our tasting. She was very knowledgeable and we discussed other wine regions we both enjoyed. Abby was attentive assessing when we needed another sample while busy helping many customers.

A lot of people would say it is worth it for the view alone, and I would agree. However what really makes this place special is the people and the wine. We had a group wine tour this past weekend, and this was a favourite. Everyone bought wine. The Sparkling Rose was definitely a group favourite. Thank you to the amazing team who lead the 40 of us through a superb tasting. We are fans for life! In fact, a few of us become wine club members. We will be back!

Sepehr Tehrani

They have this huge land off the road which is not asphalt, you need to drive quite a bit to get there. Their view is breath taking but internal settings is rather empty, a tasting station at the middle and and wine club lounge at the corner. They wasted the gorgeous space to the fullest. Wine: their wine was absolute average, nothing special, nothing bad tho. We tastes quite a few and all of them were just ok, their ice wine was low on volume and hefty in price. Go back there next summer to enjoy the balcony.

Gordana Kovac

I was there tonight for the first time. I had such a lovely time !! Every staff member was so friendly and so incredibly helpful. I spent quite sometime talking to Jake who was wonderful and when I met Veronica, everything fell into place ! She brought the wine, helped me find what best suited my tastes and I left as a new member. The vineyards were beautiful.. I just had the best time. Thanks to all of you for an incredible first time !❤️❤️

I am so disappointment in the service HALF my group got today, instead of working with us and serving our group you told us to leave because we showed up together. 4 people were offered a tasting and the rest actually asked to leave the building. When we pulled up we were all so excited to try the wines and purchase some as well, but after the way we were treated, we left (because we had to). We were extremely embarrassed because the manager actually came out to tell us leave when all we wanted to do was do a wine tasting and buy a bottle of wine. I can't believe the attitude we got from the manager and an employee. While 4 of us finished our tasting the rest of the group had to wait outside. They were by no means packed, they had a ton of room for us, but for the simple fact that we showed up together they wouldn't serve half of us. I will not return and would not recommend anyone with a group of 5+ going here unless you call to tell them (in which case you are going to be charged more for a tasting) If you and group go here I recommend not going in together to be treated fairly. Ps. Mary-anne was an amazing employee and gave us the best tasting and was not rude at all.

Tausha Michaud

First time visitor and I will definitely go back! Brianne and Jeff were welcoming and did a great job helping my husband and I find something we each liked (despite our very different wine preferences). Stunning views!

Katie Cheesmond

Simply amazing team, so friendly and knowledgeable... I cant not visit when ever I am in the area! Check out many of the products only available at the winery (recommend the bubbles!!!) as the LCBO selection is more limited. One of my favorites!

Micheal Ostoforoff

Great wines! Great staff! Worst driveway in Niagara, Vineland, Beamsville.

We stopped by Megalomaniac on our way through the region on a cycling/wine tour. The view from the winery is amazing, and the wine was great! Just yesterday I went here with a group of friends for a pre booked tasting which included their premium wines. The tasting was approximately $72 per person. When we were called in to the tasting room we were shocked to see the the wines had already been poured! We didnt even get the choice of deciding what wines we wanted to sample....r u kidding me!!! $72 per person and your telling me what I can have!! And to make things even worse most of the wines they served were not my type of wines. So I didnt even enjoy tasting them. This was the most horrible experience we had all day...especially after going to other wineries where we had an amazing experience and by. far the best one was COLONERI....simply incredible!! Will definitely go back... Unfortunately this horrible winery has never left a positive taste...we have been here before and there has always been some problem...but we wanted to give it one more chance....but NEVER AGAIN!! They are simply gready for money....with no customer service at all...if I could give this place a negative star rating I would....DO NOT waist your time going here.

Being the first couple to approach Megalomaniac for hosting a wedding we have nothing but incredible, confident things to say about this winery. We had both our wedding ceremony and reception held here. Megalomaniac was the perfect location for a venue with it’s breathtaking views that surround the entire property as well as the gorgeous chandeliers and elegant décor throughout the estate. It was at the top of my list for my dream wedding! We personally have to give thanks to Jake Hamm and Warren Short, they were so accommodating and truly enjoyable to work with from our beginning to end. An immense thank you to John Howard and all the staff at Megalomaniac for making our day possible and so special. We had endless compliments from our guests about the outstanding service provided throughout our wedding day. We couldn’t be happier with the outcome, we had an absolutely amazing event, a day we will both never forget!!

Megalomaniac is the best winery in the Niagara Region - hands down. The staff are all friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The wines are incredible and the wine club membership is an excellent way to sample their newest wines (as well as old favourites). Sunset Jazz nights are also a personal favourite! We come to the Niagara region frequently, and we bring a lot of our out of town guests to our favourite wineries when we do. When we saw the Megalomaniac winery, we couldn’t wait to check it out. My sister had received a Megalomaniac wine as a gift a little while back, but she couldn’t remember the name and we were excited to try to find it at the winery. I can’t even express the disappointment at the customer service and the way we were treated at this winery. It was absolutely awful. First, it took forever to get someone to help us…no one was even paying attention that there were potential paying customers, waiting to be helped, and it wasn’t even that busy. Then we asked the lady sitting in front of the patio area if we could do a tasting and she said we needed to speak to the gentleman by the door. He was helpful and said there was a tasting but it would be $30 a person, which seemed really high if 4 of us wanted to participate. Instead, we decided to pay for a glass of wine matching the taste that we were looking for. There were 3 or 4 tables open on the patio so we asked if we could sit outside and order a wine and we were told they were all booked up. Then, I said, well, you have seats indoors here, can’t I sit here, and have a glass of wine, and the lady said, “sorry, we don’t serve here.” This is absolutely ridiculous. I’ve never heard of anyone turning down a potential sale! Here you have a customer who is not only asking to pay for a glass of wine, but who has guaranteed to purchase hundreds of dollars worth of wine, and you can’t be bothered to serve me and my family? When we FINALLY found someone that would talk to us at the bar, we were told a server will be with us shortly, and no one showed up. It’s one thing if the place was super busy, but there were tons of staff milling around the bar, not helping anybody. We finally got fed up and left and went next door to Tawse winery, where the staff was amazing, and super helpful. We ended up purchasing a lot of bottles from that winery instead. It’s too bad we didn’t get the same type of treatment at Megalomaniac, especially when we were so looking forward to it. I'll never go there again, and I won't take any of my friends there either.

Went this weekend with my wife. Great wine and excellent service. Bespoke Merlo is fantastic, will be returning.

Kevin Humston

Went in for lunch today. Wasn't the first time visiting this vineyard but it will be the last. Our server acted like we were wasting her time and were a complete bother to her. After ordering a $ 125. lunch she asked condescendingly " is that all? " . My partner order a tasting flight which was set down at the table with a one sentence introduction. No smile, no follow up and our service was finished by a different server altogether even though the original server was still in the room. The place was not busy at this time . We live in Niagara and do many trips to our local vineyards but will never visit this one again. And after reading the reviews I can see that customer service is an ongoing issue.

Madeline M

We were really excited to visit Megalomaniac, as we’ve visited several times in the past and have always had a positive experience. We were disappointed with our visit this time, as the staff prioritized needlessly polishing wine glasses over helping visitors at the tasting bar. After not served for a long period of time, we eventually just left. Sad.

I drive limousine and have been at this winery on a number of occasions. The place is beautiful, wine I was told was good but the last time I was there I had a very bad experience with the owner .as I said I drive limo the parking lot was disorganized and I could not park there without blocking people coming and going.so a few minutes before my group were ready to leave I went up to top wait for them the owner came out and was very rude I told him I didn't want to block people in and I was told I was blocking him and he owned the place .I said I would move so he could get this car out which wasn't really blocked .he told to get my limo off his property .I have not taken anyone there since and have taken him off our list of wineries to visit

One of twelve that visited this winery this past weekend. I am the one who organized our wine tour, and after an amazing time at Malivour we were really excited pulling into this venue. This was my third visit. However we will NOT be returning. First, I was told when booking our tasting “the cost is $25 but essentially FREE if you buy a bottle of wine”. One of the men on the tour asked if he could have another splash of the rose as that was the one he was considering purchasing. He was told very rudely “no” as the tour guide rolled her eyes. And continued to go over their “policy”. This was not our first time visiting a winery, and as I had mentioned not our first time at this location and we are familiar with how a tasting goes. We are also familiar with public relations and customer service as almost all of the guests have experience in this field. Let alone a reason to be rude and embarrass a guest. If we are paying $25 l don’t see how one guest could not have another taste before he is expected to spend $40+ on a bottle of wine. Next, another guest (the birthday girl) who was paying and was the reason for celebrating the day with wine a wine tour, had the tour guide chase her out of the room and embarrass her to the point of tears. She had paid debit, and machine read “approved”, the transaction wasn’t approved and needed to be ran through again. However the tour guide yelled at her to come back, and made it seem as if she was trying to get past without paying. This was the final straw and had all of our guests extremely upset. This is extremely disappointing as we had two guests from Australia and we were very eager to visit your winery and enjoy the venue and views. The customer service we received yesterday was the worst I have ever experienced. And I sent an email almost immediately and still have not have had a reply! One guest of the twelve was competed, and this made matters worse because the other eleven were not taken care of at all!!!!! This winery ruined our day, had guests in tears and left myself extremely embarrassed as I am the one who planned the day! Sincerely, A wine lover, but not a megalomaniac fan *Your short response goes to show your guests and costumers are not your number one concern, an apology is not sufficient as I am still waiting for response for my email*

A Musctyl

I never write reviews but this is important. We recently visited Megalomaniac winery. We are residents of the Niagara area and visit a lot of the wineries regularly and always take our family, guests and visitors around to wineries in the region. This was the first time we visited yours. We were out exploring other wineries in the region and had heard about your restaurant and so we thought we would check it out. However I must say, we were extremely disappointed. You would think that you would at least have someone acknowledge us when entering your establishment. My husband actually said ‘did we forget to take off our invisible cloaks?’ There was one gentleman giving wine tasting to a group of people. And there was one woman close to the front visiting with a couple and showing them something near the entrance. But neither looked up to say ‘welcome’ or ‘can we help you’ or ‘we will be with you in a minute’. We were completely ignored. After 20 minutes of being in the establishment we decided that the name ‘megalomaniac’ was very fitting. We will not return and neither will we be recommending your winery. Further, we went down the road to one of your competitors who welcomed us heartily. We enjoyed our visit made our purchases and will definitely return. It is amazing what a little ‘warm and fuzzy’ can do to make a customer feel welcome. After all, it is a ‘business’ isn’t it?? Yes, customer service still matters! Learn from it! Someone told us your view is amazing. And yes, that is true! But we all know… ‘looks aren’t everything’!

N

I hadn't been to Megalomaniac since the tasting was in the cellars and 2 couples were a 'crowd'. I really liked their rieslings then, and liked them just as much now. The tasting bar had a number of people and our server was still attentive and honestly fantastic - not cloying or snobby or trying to be your best bud. She listened to our choices, made the 'right' kind of suggestions, and was friendly and helpful. I loved the perfect blend of friendly and upscale, the wide range of wines and prices, the tongue in cheek names and graphics, the tasting experience. I even really enjoyed their stab at ice wine - if you like your ice wines a little less sweet & syrupy and want a bit more acid to balance it, give their ice a try. Their 'local squeeze' riesling is a steal! Our tasting was free - but it's because I bought a bunch of bottles. If you don't buy, I think the tasting costs were reasonable. Yep Megalomaniac, it's still all about you!

The wine is great, the winery is gorgeous and the staff were amazing!! My fave was the cab sauv and my hubby really enjoyed the merlot. Abby was fantastic recommending we try some wines we typically wouldn't try and she nailed it. She also took us on a fun and cool tour!!

What a beautiful winery! We walked in and were met at the tasting bar by Alicia. She was simply fantastic. Very knowledgeable and friendly, prompt service and we’ll definitely be back for more! Tasted the Contrarian Red based on Alicia’s suggestion and couldn’t leave without a bottle! Thanks so much Alicia!

Thank you to the staff and owner, John Howard, for the amazing, insightful and delicious experience at your fine winery. The artistry, craftsmanship and science are all clearly evident in this whole enterprise. Once we entered The Megalomaniac winery, which sits on top of acres and acres of maturing grapes, we know our trip to the Niagara wine region was going to become a memorable experience. It turned out indeed to become a luxuriant and wonderful trip into the world of first class wine making. It became clear, especially after tasting the various Megalomaniac wines, that John Howard and his expert team do indeed successfully blend art, craftsmanship and science to produce first class wines. Most important, (and this is what makes Megalomaniac wines so distinct) is that with each different class of wine the palate is treated to a unique culinary experience. Owner John Howard’s personal care and distinctive stamp of fun, elegance, class and perfection is present with every sip. The labels remind one of levity and humor and the tastes are purely heavenly. The tour of the cellars and looking around at the many barrels of wine waiting for perfection one could see the fine craftsmanship in action. From the French imported oak barrels to the specially selected cooper bindings no detail is left out. The building sits on top of John Howard's many acres of vines and the view is spectacular! The customer meeting area and wine tasting rooms are gorgeous with a Canadian theme reflected everywhere. The attention to detail in the context of class and elegance and fun in John Howard production facilities and public areas are everywhere to be enjoyed (the second floor is private and houses the administrative offices). Needless to say, the tour was very informative, fun and truly delicious. Having guests visit us from Australia, I was very, very proud to show off this successful world class Canadian winery. And they were indeed pleasantly surprised and very impressed. John Howard and his Megalomaniac wines are indeed wines of distinction. The wines live up to his high standard of artistry, elegance and craftsmanship with a good healthy dose of humor and fun. The way food and wine should be enjoyed! Mario Sacco

Picturesque setting. Beautiful views of the vineyards and lake from the outdoor patio. Jay and Nicole (Yellow Pear) have created a delicious and imaginative menu to pair with the excellent wines that Megalomaniac offers.
