Went to The Cellar to pick out some wine based on their great selection. Unfortunately I will not be back based on the service. The clerk initially asked if I needed help but then proceeded to ask other customers if they would like to sample some wine. Didn’t ask me despite my time spent wandering through the aisles picking out my 5 bottles. When I was paying I specifically asked how the wine sampling worked and got a contradictory answer. The clerk was well aware of the point I was making but made no attempt to apologize or offer an explanation. That was the opportunity to save me as a customer. I’m going back to the boutique wine store in my neighbourhood. Selection may not be as good but the great service is worth it.

Very rude and unhelpful staff on duty at the time we were there. Unfortunate too because another store actually sent us here because they thought Cellar could better meet our needs. We went back to the other store and bought $160 of product from there and suggested they not recommend Cellar anymore.

I just describe the kind of wine I like and they are able to suggest wines from many different producers and producing regions allowing me to further explore the world of wine.

Great selection of product and wonderful service. The tasting room can fit a large party and still feels comfortable. We’ve come here for our fourth annual scotch tasting/ birthday celebration and have not once been disappointed. The service they provide from the catered menu for pairings is top notch. We’ll definitely be back again next year.

Had the same experience as another poster, they don't want to help you unless you're dressed like you have money. Good thing, because that'll just save you some money on this over priced dressed up liquor store. Unlike the other reviewer, we didn't even get a goodbye after spending almost 30 minutes looking at scotch and wine trying to find my father a present. Won't be returning.

Have both made purchases here and attended tastings and every experience is a good one. Particularly the tastings. I most recently attended the I Love Scotch tasting and not only were the scotches in the tasting list extremely interesting but the tasting itself was very informative about them and also about scotch in general. Will be returning for more tastings soon.

Awesome liquor store in the heart of downtown. The place is really cool as it is just like a cellar. You have to walk down the stairs to a dark and cooler wine store with areas where you can have private tastings. They have pretty much anything you are looking for and very decent prices. If you do visit the place ask for Alejandra, she is fantastic to deal with.

My friends and I took part in the Mystery Town Tour this weekend and the Wine Cellar was a scheduled stop. We were instructed to ask the employee for a clue to which she was incredibly rude stating "she didn't have the paper so we can't do this here" and sent us away. She also proclaimed that she did not even want to know the clue to help other teams that would come. So she was fine to ruin our time, and everyone else playing. With exception to the Wine Cellar, every local business that we stopped into was incredibly kind, welcoming and encouraged us to shop with them. I assume that the businesses sign on to be included in this tour as it is great advertising and creates foot traffic they otherwise would have missed out on....so I can only hope that the Wine Cellar immediately removes their name from the tour, or asks their employees to even pretend to be nice. I work downtown and this used to be a frequent stop for me as they do have great selection but now I will never go back as that employee has completely ruined my opinion of their business.

Just want to say that Adam and Alanna were wonderful. I was ordering specific types of wines to be delivered in Calgary and sort of had specific types of tastes to look for and I know zero about wines.....I was going by what a friend of the recipient told me she liked......they spend so much time with me and went far and beyond what I would expect and even added items to their website so I could see the writeups on them while I waited. They were fabulous so thank you Adam and Alanna!!!

I love the Cellar for personal and professional reasons. I am a wine enthusiast, and there is a great selection of harder to find bottles that are still affordable. Some of my private clients demand the best of the best, and I never have an issue finding a few rare bottles to pair with their meal. Susan is a gem who has excellent pairing suggestions for all budgets.
