The wine here is great and the drive is excellent
Beautiful view, fantastic service, great wine, thank you Marta????
Great wines
Cody was my groups wine taster, he was funny and informative. Enjoyed the wines here very much.

Pretty busy but their is a reason, that much yummy wine will keep a place hopping!
Great experience! Nice wine taste , the restaurant and the gorgeous view
Gorgeous setting, reasonable and tasty wine!
A great day. Great staff and a beautiful location!
Went to this winery during the reopening with new COVID protocols. I went to the winery with my family. We were a group of 8 hoping to be broken up into 4 and 4 for tastings as we know the max 6 rule. We waited in line for an hour (clearly a large group) only to be told when we got to the front of the line that none of us were aloud entry into the building because we have been around more than 6 people since COVID... Not only did they let us wait in line without saying anything prior but are also assuming that every single other person in line has not had interaction with more than 6 people since March? They seem to be the only establishment enforcing this sort of rule.
Great tasting! Fun and informative tour. Amazing lunch. Our server was ao kind and patient answering all our questions. Ate on the patio and loved the view. A great spot for girls lunch before bts begins. Hopeto be back this year.
Thank you to Tony for guiding my husband and I through a lovely experience of your odyssey tasting in your beautiful estate room! We thoroughly enjoyed your time and expertise, and gained a new appreciation for wines we did not know much about. Thank you also for your kindness in taking some photos for us, and for giving us some hints as to what wines would be good investments. We'll be back!
Tuscany experience in BC
Great service, cautious COVID protocols, Great views and even better wine!
We visited Grey Monk this Saturday. Janet guided us during the tasting, she was great. The wines have reasonable prices and are very easy drinking, great for a weekday treat. Thank you Janet!
A bit impersonal approach. Like buying popcorn at a concession. The wine was nice though.
Abbey and Lucy were fantastic. Their service was better than the wine and food, which were very good. Highly suggest the Tapas plate and Pinot Gris.
Expensive and full of Albertans
Extremely satisfied with this winery. The staff was very kind, and very helpful. They offer a taste test of a few wines for $5 which was cool. And if you have a chance to step out on the balcony, the view is amazing. If you happen to be in or around Kelowna, The Grey Monk is a definite must place to visit. Just make sure to purchase some of their fine wine before u leave, you won't regret it. Enjoy!!
Beautiful place! The people working there really knew their stuff! Delicious wine and great prices!!
I always love the wine, but the restaurant was a disappointment.
Their subscription service is very convenient. Wines are delicious and reasonably priced. Highly recommend.
Great views and wine. Restaurant also very good
I love their wines! Literally all the wines I've tried I've loved. I normally don't even like white wine, but I looooove theirs. Particularly the Pinot Gris and Ehrenfelser.
Wow what a comedown. The restaurant here has been our go to place since 2002 for fine dining in a great location. Not anymore! Since changing hands a few months ago the food and service have really gone downhill. Boring and miss matched items of food in a very slim menu. The food was more student bedsit quality with fine dining prices and portions. Sorry Grey Monk but I won’t be back again.
They have some really great wine and a decent wine selection. The staff are very friendly and they offered us complimentary wine tasting when we arrived. The view from the winery is gorgeous. Next time I come back, I might try their restaurant.
The service was amazing! We had tiffany as our waitress and she was really fantastic. Food was super delicious and the wine paired very well with out meals.
i would like to thank janet for her incredible welcoming attitude. Her experience and deep sense of hospitality made me and my guest from france feel incredibly happy. Her passion, expertise and love for her job allowed us to experience the joy of the beautiful surroundings and the quality of your wines. Thank you so much for hiring such great staff.
Awesome place!
Amazing service and amazing wine.
We came here for a father's day lunch. Food and views were good but the management and service was terrible. It took over 1.5 hours for our food to arrive. When we first arrived there were only 2 tables full. The restaurant quickly filled up and every other table was served before us. When we complained to the manager she was extremely defensive, unprofessional and rude to our family. She said what is wrong, I already spoke with your mother 3 times. The service was completely unacceptable. This could have been easily solved if she was more understanding and not rude about our bad experience. We will never return and cannot recommend this place.
Absolutely lovely place. The wines are super tasty and really reasonably priced I would highly recommend!
Even with a limited menu the food was great. Staff were helpful and friendly.
Had a wonderful time with a large group of friends from the FB group Sophisticated Social! For just opening at the beginning of May they did an outstanding job in service and food quality!
Great wine and food. My favourite wine place with Mission Hill.
The staff is almost as wonderful as the view from their balcony; a gorgeous view from a classy place.
First time for me at a winey!???? Loved my experience!
Excellent food and wine, fantastic view. Good service.
Tasting selection sucks... nothing that can’t buy from liquor store. Service is fast and very transactional. Losing the family local touch after being acquired by Pellar...
My family and I had lunch at Gray Monk yesterday. Ian was our server, and he filled our afternoon with laughter. He paired our meals beautifully with delicious wines, and he makes a mean latte! 10/10, would recommend the restaurant just to go meet him. He's a hoot.
Beautiful view and good tasting experience.
great selection of award winning wine, this place definitely deserve more good reviews
Their wine tasting was very informative and educational. Enjoyed it very much. Their restaurant was fully booked so we couldn't get in. The scenery is amazing. Friendly staff.
While visiting Kelowna a friend took us on a wine tour. While ALL had atmosphere and views that exceed Napa and Sonoma Gray Monk combined atmosphere, delicious wine, phenomenal value and great staff. Thanks especially to Marilyn Merlot for her hospitality and knowledge. A must visit especially if she's on duty!
My favourite tasting of the weekend. My husband and I only visited 4 wineries over the weekend but Grey Monk was definitely the best. Grey Monk did not accept reservations they only accept walk ins for tastings. We were fortunate to not have to wait and walk right in on a Saturday afternoon. Large tasting room with plexiglass partitions to protect workers and customers. Marilyn was super friendly and informative. We tasted many wines and ended up buying a dozen bottles. Don't miss this winery on your tour! We will definitely return.
We had a wonderful tasting of some of their amazing wines (I’ve been a Gray Monk red lover for yrs), then went downstairs for a light bite which was a yummy soles corn and squash (super rich, layered tastes, flavorful) alongside a cheese/pickles plate for two. It was perfect. Julie, our hostess, was knowledgeable, friendly and very attentive!
The ambience and scenery was fantastic, I really enjoyed the service. The waitress was attending and kind. I really liked Ehrenfelser and Pinot Gris.
Lovely lovely winery! Very nice and generous pours on the tasting flights. The facility was very …
Beautiful setting. Great service. Yummy menu. Our meals were cooked to perfection. Glad to hear that they will be open year-round. :)
Nice building and view but, terrible service, she barely talked us, she didn't show any interest. She was just interesting about going to dinner break, she suddenly left. Our colleague was much better. The wine is ok. Nothing amazing.
Stopped by Gray Monk for a quick tasting at their bar and enjoyed their beautiful view. They offer Complimentary tastings and you can also pay extra for more tastings. You can purchase wine and a huge selection of wine related knick knacks. I usually drink red but I fell in love with their Pinot Gris and Reisling ( both 2015). By far the best I have ever tasted.
My fiancé and I stopped in at Gray Monk last week for an impromptu tasting. We have never been to this winery before and were both pleasantly surprised. The property is beautiful with a slightly medieval charm to it. Judi at the tasting bar was lovely. She was very welcoming and allowed us to try a few different reds and whites – all were very good. We primarily drink reds and absolutely fell in love with the Odyssey Merlot! Prices are very reasonable. Our visit was mid-winter, but the view was still stunning. We are looking forward to trying the Lookout Restaurant when it opens in May so we can experience everything this winery has to offer! Highly recommend.
This has always been one of my favourite wineries to visit while in Lake County. $5 tasting for 5 wines waived if you buy a bottle. They have some great wines at the lower price points and their port is one our favourite wines.
Great wines with quite an amazing selection. This was the first winery I visited in the Okanagan & am still a regular customer after 15 years. They have something for everyone here & also have the Grapevine Restaurant which I feel is the one of the best in the valley.
Just had a fantastic lunch experience at Gray Monk Winery. Great food and service, and wonderful views on Lake Okanagan.
Love this winery and their wines. Fab little gift shop and of course wine flights available. Always get treated like royalty. The winery does get busy during peak season which could affect how long you wait for your turn but it’s worth the wait. We are in the Gray Monk wine club as well. Gets you 15% off wines you purchase and can also be used in the gift shop and their restaurant. Restaurant is fine dining- amazing meals and a beautiful view.
Water seemed spicy, memory's a bit shoddy regarding my experience. I attempted to relieve myself in a bush upon exit and was tackled... So if your Riesling has a slightly higher acidity than expected, I apologize. This was my first time drinking wine, it was great and so was lunch. Girlfriend was unimpressed with the photos I selected.
This was one of our favourite wineries of our visit to the Okanagan region. Stunning property. Hot as Hades though.
This was one of our stops on our tour with Sip Happens wine tour we had a fantastic lunch and tasting
Nice view
The experience wouldn’t have been that bad (due to the outstanding views..I’ll give them that!) if the male manager during our wine tasting wasn’t so rude. We arrived at the winery around 5:30 (half an hour before closing) and he seemed extremely annoyed with us the entire time. My mom, the designated driver, accidentally left through the wrong door setting off an alarm and he nearly screamed at her. He was so angry. It was too bad since usually I love Gray Monk but having someone yell at my incredibly nice mother was awful. So sorry you had to experience that Mom! ❤️
Really enjoyed the wines. To die for location. Staff were great.
Great wine and food pairings. The Riesling white wine is my favorite.
Very classy place. Great restaurant. The chef is excellent. Great wines. Very helpful and pleasant staff!
We stopped at Grey Monk for a wine tasting yesterday afternoon and I was blown away by our pour-master Landen. He was well-informed, hilarious and helpful. That guy deserves a promotion ASAP. Many thanks for a fabulous experience.
Had high expectations due to amazing cuisine a few years ago but was disappointed in most dishes served due to lack of quality and vegetables assortment. Most likely due to Kitchen Chef change which is quite apparent. Deserts and Wine were amazing however as was the overall service.
This winery is good - there are wineries in the area with better views. We were part of a large group with a couple of children. We were satisfied with everything except one experience right before we were about to leave. One of the waitresses who is supposedly a manager, came to our table and asked a child to stop playing on his iPhone even though there only two other tables in service. The whole place was empty. At this point we tried to reason and diffuse the situation, but she treated us with disrespect and arrogance. With the amount of money we spent this really put a damper on our evenining. Save your money and go to other wineries which really have better views and costumer service skills in the area.
Lunch is ok. One chicken burger, two appetizers, 2 glasses wine. The bill was $135 before tips. Bought a Pinot Gris Odyssey - it has no body with flat taste. Not worth the money.
Fantastic views.a wide variety of wines at reasonable prices. A bit sad that it is not family owned anymore. Lots of parking for any kind of vehicle despite having a driveway that is only 1.5 lanes wide. Restaurant has the best lake/mountain views in the valley. The food is great too. Group room is available but extremely dated, needs a major overhaul if it hasn't already been done. The private cellar is an absolute treat to experience. Lots to see and do here for wine lovers. Don't miss out.
Love the winery and always come back when were in Vernon area. We usually buy a case or so and were surprised that they have no discount anymore for cases. Bummer! They have a new program of quarterly shipments that would be great for those who drink wine more regularly. Unfortunately, we are light wine consumers and would find a regular shipment too much because we like to try new wines as well. If they modified the quarterly program to a smaller version, they might be able to bring consumers like us on board. Maybe include some literature with the wine so we can learn at the same time as we enjoy. Just a thought. Oh yeah, we have had a few people help us the last several years and they did a great job of explaining everything. However, Andrea was the best. She quickly figured out what we wanted and made great recommendations.
So good! Beautiful view and great food! Oh yeah, and the wine is terrific ????
We spent a week in lake country at an airbnb just outside of the Grey Monks Winery. This was of course our first winery on our exploration of the area and it was outstanding. The tasting bar attendants were fantastic. Although it was busy they weren't rushed and took the time to explain all the wines they were sampling. Needless to say the wines were fantastic and we walked away with more than a few bottles to take home. The latitude 50 sampler pack (red, white and Rose) was polished off before we left and a second was purchased to bring home. Later in the week we came back for dinner at their restaurant and found the food and service to be outstanding just like the view from their patio. A must see, smell and taste for anyone in the area.
Great views.
Christy was lovely.
Booked a private wine tasting and the wine was fantastic like I remember, However the experience was far from. The other parties showed up late so we were rushed through the tour. Felt extremely uncomfortable at the end as we were the only ones on time but we're very eagerly told it was time to leave as their manager showed up to let us know the next tour was about to start. I have been here before and told many friends about this place but now I won't recommend anyone to visit this winery. Very dissatisfied.
Pretty busy but their is a reason, that much yummy wine will keep a place hopping!
Visited the Gray Monk Winery today for the first time. It is a beautiful property with stunning views of Lake Okanagan. The wines sampled were among the best we have experienced in the Okanagan Valley and should definitely be experienced. Judi in the tasting room was amazing and offered us a great selection of wines to try, explaining each and making us both feel genuinely welcomed and appreciated for stopping in. This is an excellent winery and we can't wait to try the restaurant this summer. Highly recommended for wines, service and atmosphere. Well worth the stop!
Nice place, nice view, nice wine.
Nice place, great wine
Awesome view! Great tasting. $5 tasting.
I’ve been coming here with family for the last 10 years, for lunch or dinner, and a few bottles on the way out. It’s always been excellent previously, but this last lunch experience was very disappointing. Makes me very sad, as coming to Grey Monk has been a tradition of ours, but if they don’t respect the customer and try to pass off mediocre food at premium prices, I won’t be back for food OR wine. The seared tuna was bland and lifeless. The flavours fell flat and the accompaniments did not mesh well with the fish. I routinely have better seared tuna at chain restaurants like Cactus Club or even a run of the mill izakaya in Vancouver for half the price. The bread share plate was pathetic. 4 wedges of bread that was starting to go dry with flavour that could be found at Superstore for $2. The spreads were laughably bad, and in such small quantities they didn’t even cover the limited amount of dry bread. Last year, the bread plate came with 2-3 different types of bread that were fresh, with various butters and spreads. Today was a far cry from that. A plate of this mediocrity should just come with the meals, not cost extra. The mains were just as forgettable. The duck, verging on dry with nothing on it except salt. Sitting on the same cabbage slaw that came with the tuna. Clearly a cost cutting measure to share accompaniments between vastly different dishes; and it didn’t taste good with either. Carrots and asparagus were OK, just plain with some olive oil. The chicken tagliatelle mains were equally mediocre. Shredded chicken mixed into a sauce on pasta with mushrooms. Edible, but boring. The regularly $24 bottle of Brute for $60 was just an extra slap in the face. The food has gone downhill drastically. Obviously something has changed recently and it’s clear that management is optimizing for short term profit and taking for granted the goodwill and brand equity that the previous staff built through quality food and wine. With the vast range of other beautiful dining options in the area, I suggest just trying somewhere else unless you’re happy paying for the view and don’t care about the food. Unless I hear that Grey Monk gets back on track, we won’t be coming here again.
Love Gray Monk Wines but the restaurant although slightly renovated from a previous visit two years ago was not a good experience. Booked it for a double date night away from kids, appetizer took 1 hour to come out and meal was another hour after that. Management took care of the appy and second round of drinks which was appreciated. Hope they speed up the service, baby sitter cost us as much as the meal at that pace.
Great service, reasonable wine prices for good quality wines. Restaurant is amazing, view, service, food, just great! The whole restaurant had one waiter for lunch but he was exceptional: available when you need him, no delay in service, no unnecessary disturbing and no delay in service...you don't have that too often anymore.
We stopped at the Gray Monk which was our first of several this day. We did not stop for food but the menu prices looked reasonable and the food sounded good. We did the tatsings and picked up a couple of bottles of wine. A very nice experience!
Wines were great and staff extremely friendly.
Nice property, Small portions, expensive restaurant.
Went for the tasting experience and felt very unwelcome. The lady doing the tasting barely made eye contact and didn't seem keen to provide information about the wines. This was contrasted with her extremely friendly show of service towards the couple that showed up after us. The wine wasn't bad and the view was quite nice. Lots of parking spots.
This place has changed for the worst since they sold out to Peller Estates. The large charcuterie board is sad with a few thin slices of meat and no cheese. I also ordered the duck and it came with one asparagus and one carrot tip! it was pathetic. I'm all for fine dining but this is a sad imposter to the fine dining Grey Monk used to be.
This was my first time visiting a winery and this place is 10/10. Natasha was our host and did a fantastic job. She has so much Knowledge about the wine and the winery in general and I learned so much about the history of this beautiful establishment. I will definitely be coming back next summer!
Amazing view!
Excellent restaurant overlooking Lake Okanagan. The dining staff are awesome, the food was top notch. Great place to take some photos. Their Brut sparkling wine is incredible.
Great place to visit. It has a special vibe almost like lake Como in Italy. Wine tasting is so much fun and they have a great selection. Highly recommend.
We had a fantastic experience in the tasting room! We told our host that we were tasting to purchase wine for an upcoming wedding and she went above and beyond for us to fill our needs. Great customer service!
Nice wine. Some of the best in the Kelowna area. Nice tour of the winery facility. I personally like The gewurztraminer wine. Nice little gift shop.
Nice winery and great views. Some other alternatives that I prefer to go to in the lake country area
Always fun. Great views and friendly staff
Food was ok but a bit pricy for what you get and wait times and service was pretty bad.
A beautiful winery outside of Kelowna that is one of the older ones. A high volume of whites and a nice selection of reds. A great tasting room with friendly staff. Great wine prices, probably some of the best in the region.
Beautiful view
Highly recommend this place! From the grounds, the wine and restaurant. Shannon was amazing :). The only thing I will point out is the fact that we were not greeted as promptly as we would have hoped for the tasting but other than that amazing!
Really nice views of the valley. Didn't have to wait long in line to get in for tasting. Marilyn was our awesome wine instructor, really nice to talk to.
Came in a Tuesday and found out they don’t open for lunch on Tuesday, only wine tasting. Janet was working at that time. She is so nice and friendly, she gave us great advices about the winery and surrounding area. We will definitely come back for lunch!
This is an excellent restaurant within the Gray Monk winery property. The views of Okanagan lake are breathtaking. Food is fantastic, just like their service. It is a bit pricey.
Great view, as always! (minus the smoke - not their fault, I promise). Excellent service, delicious wines. Will be back next year again!
Great Wine Great View Great Food Friendly service But, be patience because the service is a bit slow.
Great customer service. Beautiful view.
Excellent dinner and view. Also like the wine. Great service.
This winery was a bit disappointing as we waited in the tasting room for 5-10 minutes and then we were told they were closed. They had a big group tasting already tasting and it was only 635 but it said they were supposed to close at 7. Make sure you go early if you want to do the tasting as I’m not sure what time they actually close. The building is quite nice and the winery has a good view of the lake. They also have a lot of things you can buy other than wine such as snacks and wine paraphernalia. They have a restaurant also called grape vine. I would call ahead to make a reservation.
It was great! Friendly stuff. Did some wine tasting Doris was very informative bought 6 bottles of wine ????
Always love stopping in to visit this great winery.
Amazing Food, Wine, Service! Great views from the outdoor patio. Mobile disability and wheelchair accessible.
Good
The wine is outstanding but I found the Poke kind of funky. The fish seemed to be drowned in some kind of sour dressing, and the zing you'll normally get from wasabi was missing. Portion was also kind of small in light of the prices. Clean toilets
I have heard amazing things about this place from people in the local area.
Open and Delicious!! Just want to say thank you for an amazing dinner overlooking beautiful Lake Okanagan. Emily, your service was fantastic even with the new restrictions. Get out and support this amazing local business!
Very disappointed with the lack of professionalism and care that was showed by one of the employees while we were attempting a wine tasting. We were so unhappy in fact we left by our second taste test as we were mostly ignored.
Very nice location, views of the lake. Food is alright.
Great early evening out. Service was excellent. Learned that the earlier you book the better your seats for view. Try the flight and have a table tasting. Happy anniversary to us.
Great atmosphere and wine! Would visit again.
Beautiful tasting room with lots of options to try; Their red wine options are personally my favourite in town!
Beautiful views of the lake and winery. It’s a great sight to see! Lots of wines you can taste and enjoy.
I'd recommend reservations. We went for lunch hoping to be seated on the patio to enjoy the fabulous view but all seats were taken and there was a waiting list. The cheese plate was good and so was the wine. Service was good but servers were very busy.
Very good wine!! The host running the wine tasting was welcoming and quite informative of different wine pairings!
A magnificent experience, food, wine, view. It just doesn't get much better.
I didn't go inside but the scenery was very well worth it! Even if you don't drink, just give the place a visit, it'll be worth your time!
Great tour with free wine tasting, beautiful estate with an amazing view. Highly recommend.
They have some good wines and the tastings are free but it's become more of a tourist location than a winery. People show up with their kids and everyone is just everywhere. I enjoy their wines but waiting forever for a tasting isn't exactly my idea of fun. This is more of a get in, grab the wine, get out sort of place for me these days.
Wonderful wine, good food, and amazing view what more can you ask for? The winery was welcoming and the staff were knowledgeable and friendly. We were even treated to a sighting of a deer during lunch. A great stop for a little bit of wine or stay for a fantastic lunch!!! We will be back again!!!
Edit: I must add, Michaela the restaurant manager called to discuss my post. That was a really nice touch. Thanks for taking time to call me and make amends. I'm much happier now and look forward to returning to the Lookout Restaurant in the near future! Original Post: Very disappointed. The wait was 1.5h for food. The wait staff stood idol at the bar, we had empty glasses and no water. The manager came by refilled our glasses, but nothing after that. A young family sat next to us, with the same non-service. The food was mediocre at best. Ok, the squid was tasty, but the extra $2 for a kale salad with no kale and tasteless dressing. I guess be prepared to pay for the view, not the service or food. I'll be exploring other wineries before going back there.
(Translated) Very nice white wines. For those who like dry wines, the excellent Pinot Gris is for sure. And those who prefer semi-dry or slightly sweeter white wines should be recommended to Gewürztraminer or Ehrenfelser. The tasting is well worth the $ 5. Our service explained not only the wines but also the different climatic conditions and soils along the Okanagan Lake. Very interesting and enlightening. We took the opportunity, bought some wine and enjoyed a very good lunch next door in the Lookout Restaurant.
Excellent experience for wine tasting. Very educational, and not rushed.
The scenery is excellent. They have a great selection of wines, and what we sampled were excellent. We went to the Lookout restaurant, and the same great views were there. Again, good wine. The service was great. My only complaint is …
You can’t beat this for a winery. Tasting room, expansive store, restaurant, tours, gorgeous patio and views. If you have a minute or a whole day, you can fill it here. We LOVED that they’re open later than any others nearby, easy choice to stop in. The wine club offers fantastic perks as well.
Great view, great food, really good service….they need to invest in some comfortable chairs ….some are ok but most are very uncomfortable Comfortable seating means relaxed guest, relaxed guest spends more time….and comes back more often.
I'm a regular customer of this store.
To start off I love the wine made here. I buy cases of it every year and do nothing but brag about how great this wine is. I decided to take my family on a wine tour yesterday to my favorite winery only to be horribly disappointed. They charge $20 per adult, but no big deal for my favorite winery who in my opinion would make it the best one ever. Once we got started our guide was quite and started us off in the very busy main room. We couldn't hear a thing she said. We tasted two wines there. We then moved downstairs to a continue the tour. The lab was a neat add on, then we went to the keg room. We tasted two more wines and briefly had her speak. We asked her a few questions which she did not know the answers too. Her reply was "no one told me that" or " I don't know". Once that was completed the tour was over. To sum it up, 30 minutes to taste four wines, see part of the winery that others will show for free, and an inexperienced tour guide, all for $20 a person. We could have paid $5 a person for a tasting, had five different tastings and then had that amount wavied when we bought our wine. I was extremely disappointed and embarrassed to have my family on this "tour" and make them pay for it. I actually paid my family back because they wouldn't have done it if it wasnt on my suggestion. I did bring it up to the other employee that was on the tour about it and she agreed that it was a disappointment but ended it there. Ideally I would have liked my money back from the tour or at least a discount but again they did nothing. As much as I love their wine, I will be moving on to another winery since this one just doesn't seem to care about anything but the money.
Love it
The food was very tasty. They pair the food with the wine they make. It makes for a delightful experience.
Aside from the award-winning wines, the restaurant has an enchanting view and the food is outstanding.
Beautiful winery\view, great customer service and amazing food. If you are visiting the Okanagan, Grey Monk Estate Winery should be on the top of the priority list!
Thank you to our server Betty and the rest of the team at Gray Monk for making our anniversary lunch so special. Would highly recommend for the amazing view, delicious food and wonderful service.
Grey Monk Winery is a Must to Visit in Lake Country. If you are Part of a Wine Tour make Sure you are Stopping Here and Mission Hill. Arrowleaf is also Great to Visit. We Love coming Here to get Reflections Wine which is Hard to Find in Our Liquor Store, but Love the Taste of the Pinot Gris and The Pinot Noir. Photos are from May, so the Grapes haven't Grown Yet. Like any Winery The Fields will be Green in No Time.
When imagining estate wineries, I often fathom small intimate operations where you discuss the matters of winemaking with the winemakers directly. It’s not common that you gawk mystified at the utter gorgeousness of an avatar of viticulture, something Dionysus would look down at approvingly and bless his disciples with a fertile harvest. Too much? Fine, the winery looked pretty. Most tourists, like us, approach Gray Monk from a road with a long right-hand loop down a steep hill, allowing you an extended view across fields to a mustard colored basilica, a common color with wineries I’ve noticed (Burrowing Owl, Cassini Cellars, Gold Hill, Ruby Blues, Perseus…you get the idea). This is a mere sliver of what awaits. The wineries in Kelowna are mostly not in Kelowna—they fringe the edges with clumps in every compass direction. A strategically placed meteorite could obliterate the town and all that would remain would be a dozen wineries on the rim. In the North, Gray Monk can probably be considered the king…the King of the North. Yes, I went there. The winery is a multiple level building with paths and stairs cascading behind to further buildings below. These include production facilities, a laboratory (no, seriously, there’s a wine lab down there), and a restaurant, the latter of which I’ve yet to see even after two visits. On our first trip, Gray Monk sat near the end of our journey, after sixty wineries and 120 bottles purchased, from Osoyoos to here. And yet, we still bought wine. Not only that, but it was one of the few locations that earned a repeat visit ten months later. Gray Monk is one of those extravagant locations that puts wine making and wine selling front and center. Their personality is their brand, and the cavernous wine store is replete with bottles. The tasting lounge is relatively small for such a building, but we never had an issue with tastings. The experience (on both visits) was efficient and satisfying. The hosts, though not winemakers themselves, knew their bottles. As for the wines themselves, I appreciate the unique selection offered at Gray Monk as well as their magnificent bottle designs. We are still sitting on three bottles from our last trip, the 2014 Pinot Auxerrois, the 2015 Kerner, and the spectacular looking 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Odyssey. I’d buy these wines just for the bottles. But we all know you can get most of those anywhere. You visit for the location and the experience, and Kelowna wineries have raised their game, necessary given the amazing wineries nearby like Arrowleaf and Ex Nihilo nearby. Gray Monk is worth a visit even if you don’t buy, just for the journey, both there and through. And no, using the virtual view on their website doesn’t do it justice. Gray Monk is a proud member of the upper echelon of Kelowna wineries and should be on everyone’s lists.
One of the more well known wineries. Big restaurant and tasting room. Watch your car door when parked as the lot is steep and across the parking so your door either swings open or closed with lots of gravity.
Beautiful views and great suggestions during the wine tasting. I appreciate that the wine tasting price is waved if you buy one bottle of wine. We came for one bottle and left with 6. Haha.
Great atmosphere! Great wine! Hannah was such a delight and very knowledgeable!
We went to the Lookout Restaurant located at this winery to celebrate a special occasion. I have been to this winery before and I have always enjoyed their wine selection. On this occasion unfortunately we weren’t able to get there in time to do a tasting before it was closed so we just had dinner. The view from the patio of the restaurant is like a beautiful post card looking out on the vineyards, rolling hills, and Lake Okanagan. It’s a spectacular place to watch the sunset. We had a bottle of the Odyssey Meritage which I highly recommend. My advice would be to purchase it in the tasting room and then ask for them to serve it to you with your dinner though as paying for it at the restaurant more than doubles the price. (I believe they let us do this previously a few years ago, unsure if still an option). The seared albacore tuna salad and roasted halibut that I had for dinner was delicious. My husband was not as happy with the pork loin as he described it as more layers of ham that were breaded and then baked, not what he was expecting. We were given a 50% discount for this. We finished dinner with a tasty chocolate ganache bar and ice cream. Overall a great experience.
What a beautiful view! The food was amazing for dinner and the service we had was awesome!
Thought we would have a nice dinner while driving through and saw that Gray Monk had good reviews but we were left less than impressed. Decided to try the Odyssey wine (top end), wasn't great and I've had better $12 bottles. The food was a disappointment...non creative, strange pairings, over cooked carrots and under cooked risotto. The service was non personal and robotic, almost funny after we heard the server say the same thing to 3 tables. There are so many great wineries and restaurants in the Okanagan....won't be going back to this one.
WOW! Delicious wines, stunning views and great staff! We got to try 2 additional wines during the tasting as in chatting with us, the advisor was able to determine what kind of wines we liked and she was spot on! We ended up buying 5 bottles of one and 2 of the other that were not on the tasting menu. We left with a dozen bottles! Will definitely recommend this place to family and friends and visit again!
Unbeatable view, very good wines, excellent food and service. Expensive but a nice treat and great place to bring guests.
Exquisite food, excellent wine, unparalleled service.
Amazing atmosphere and management. The view is what brings it all together.
What a phenomenal place for dinner. From the drive to.. locating, setting , staff and price. We had an amazing time , highly recommend and will definetly be back again.
wine is good but staff seemed aloof and not too interested in helping us;we are not wine experts but usually buy a few bottles where we taste; but not here.
Beautiful place, wonderful people (Marilyn Merlot) helped us with our tasting - she was Great! We ended up buying 3 bottles. Then had a delicious lunch on the patio! I definitely would recommend this winery to anyone visiting the area!
We went to four wineries today to sample and we were greatly disappointed at Grey Monk. Grey Monk had our highest expectations and we were let down twice. We went in for a walk up tasting with the anticipation of buying bottles to take back home to the island. Our server was not engaged with us as she was doing two servings at a time. We couldn't hear her as she had a mask and plexiglass glass between us. To top it all off, we were going to buy six bottles of wine and glasses and when we got to the till they said, sorry we don't take cash. Too bad for you Gray Monk, you don't want my money, fine, I'll tell all my friends!
Visited for a tasting. Beautiful setting and kind staff.
Super helpful staff for the un-wineducated! They even found a wine for my husband who "doesn't like wine".
One of the most beautiful wineries in the Okanagan! Complimentary sampling!
Love coming here! The wine is great, the views are awesome and the staff is the best! This a stop for any wine lover that is coming to the Okanagan.
Very nice view and very good kitchen.
I have heard amazing things about this place from people in the local area.
The view is stunning and very nice salmon
We had an outstanding meal last evening. A special thanks to our server, Marta, for her incredible service.. It was a birthday celebration and her attention to every detail made my evening spectacular. The value and quality of the meal …
Terrible. Will never go back. View was great. Julie and Joelle did there best. Cold food, overpriced and quote frankly gross. Only giving it one star because there was no option for zero.
One of my favourite spots for sure. We live in Lake Country & it is always a treat to be at the Gray Monk. The restaurant has a breathtaking view, the service is always amazing & the food/wine never disappoints. I have seen some comments saying it is pricey, but I would disagree. The portions are fair & it is good quality. I would highly recommend Gray Monk & we will definitely be back.
Did a good job of adjusting for covid. Very helpful finding the right wine.
Was recently at Grey Monk Winery with my Daughter and her fiancé to celebrate their upcoming wedding. We we fortunate enough to have Sandy take us though our tasting. She is a rock star! The building, views and wines were all spectacular, but Sandy pushed it over the top. She was knowledgeable and extremely funny. She made the tasting one to remember! After the tasting, we had lunch in the Grapevine restaurant. Another great experience. Treena was our waitress and she too was excellent. She made great food recommendations, was very attentive, and had a great sense of humor. The food was fantastic and the portions were nicely sized. It very obvious that the owners put as much effort into hiring great staff as they do to making excellent wine. Make this a stop when you are in Kelowna!
Such a lovely winery. Didn’t charge me any wine tasting probably because I came in while it’s not busy. Unwooded Chardonnay and Enrenfelser are both great white wine for my liking. Small restaurant serves one of the best chicken sandwich that is rich in flavor like nothing I have ever tasted. I would definitely come back again even just for the sandwich.
Went for a wine tasting with friends. My one friend doesn't usually like whites enjoyed the ones we tasted at Grey Monk and took a bottle home
(Translated) The tour is to be forgotten. $ 20 and you get a total of about 4 shot glasses of wine. Not to be compared with Europe. The new owner tries to earn significantly more money than before. But in itself a great location (Original) Die Tour ist zum Vergessen. 20$ und man bekommt insgesamt ca. 4 Schnapsgläser Wein. Nicht zu vergleichen mit Europa. Der neue Besitzer versucht, deutlich mehr Geld zu verdienen als früher. An für sich aber eine tolle Location
My husband and I came in on a Sunday evening and had a wonderful experience! Our amazing server Sydney was not only knowledgeable, but also the sweetest. She listened to what I like in a wine and made great suggestions. We will be back for sure for the view and hopefully to have her as a server again!
Our wine server, Jennifer, was absolutely fantastic. We did quite a few tastings throughout the day and she was by far the most upbeat and personal we had. We really enjoyed our tasting, and ended up purchasing two bottles.
Gorgeous view of the lake. Nice restaurant and wine shop
Came for lunch and a wine tasting and the service was beyond amazing! Everyone was so friendly and looked genuinely happy to be working there which is always great to see. The food and wine was absolutely amazing, we left super happy and also with some bottles of wine! Will be back for sure!

Doris was great! Beautiful place and great wines!
A very disappointing first experience for my family. Enjoyed this wine for years, never again. Unless you look a certain way I guess your business isn't welcomed. Thanks a lot.
It has been sometime since we went to the gray monk and I really don't know why to be honest.. The grounds and patio are outstanding..the food was good the service was excellent one negative was it was warm...and who ever designed the blinds needs to visit the patio and have a dinner to understand what I am talking about the poor staff were fighting the movement of the sun all evening trying to keep quests happy people close wanted it lowered people far wanted it raised.. I think I understand the thought process in trying to keep the views exposed..but it doesn't work...you need full sunscreens not partial cut out or what ever they are...your staff would be less stressed and your guests would be less hot...a few fans over head would also help move some air...you have a great place but this part of it was unenjoyable..
Fantastic food and service.
It was a great experience & I love the wines!! The staff are very friendly & helpful.
Great lunch shelly was a wonderful waitress
We went to Arrowleaf winery just before this. It's approx a 3 minute drive away. Had I never come to Gray Monk, Arrowleaf would have been a perfectly sufficient experience. Beautiful venue that showcases the Okanagan Valley, great tasting wines at an affordable price and knowledgable, informative and helpful staff. However, we had Marilyn do our tasting at Gray Monk. She's a total game changer! This is by no means a knock on Arrowleaf. I still 100% encourage you to visit! Marilyn was conversational and shared a lot about the process of developing the different wines, the difference between the wines (including historical context), information about the couple that started the winery and how it progressed to the winery today. She gave us a lot of time and space to take our time and discuss amongst ourselves and even offered us suggestions for wineries to hit on the rest of our trip. Gray Monk is an awesome winery but Marilyn made this a truly memorable experience! We will be sure to return!
Stood at the counter for 10 minutes for a tasting and no one greeted us or offered to help us so we turned around and left. Very disappointing.
was at the winery last weekend to celebrate my sister's birthday. we had a fantastic dinner and the service was awesome. the background music was amazing and luckily we were told how to find it and I am sitting on my deck at my cottage in Ontario thoroughly reliving our evening listening to the sounds.
If you like wines don't miss visiting Gray Monk Winery. Great selection of great tasting wines, especially the Kerner and Ehrenfelser that you can't find anywhere else. Don't discount their relatively inexpensive but great tasting Latitude 50 wines.
Probably one of the best wineries in kelowna. The wines are unbeatable. The views and grounds are gorgeous! We absolutely loved it. The servers were so knowledgable and helpful. A must see!
What an unbelievable view and experience. Carlee served us with a very brand loyal knowledge of the wineries offerings, history and menu.
We enjoyed our visit at Gray Monk and Janet was amazing! She was knowledgeable and made our visit the best! Happy Stampede in the future Janet!
The view! Amazing food, great service, awesome wine and the view!!!
My group and I first attended a wine tasting that was hosted by Doris and Ashley; both of whom were very welcoming and informative! Because the wine tasting was so well done, my group and I then went on to purchase a number of wines from the wine store. After the tasting, we had reservations for the restaurant. At this point, we decided to only order food ( as we had already paid for a private tasting and purchased a number of wine bottles). I suspect that this may have played a part in our then 2 hour wait for 4 entrees. After waiting for about 2 hours, we asked another server about the status of our food and it was brought out within 5 mins and was simply placed on our table without any apology. Once time came to pay the bill, our server then explained that "things were super busy" and this was why our food was so delayed and why she failed to check up on our table for 2 hours. While this may have made sense if all other tables were delayed, we noted that other tables were receiving there food at a reasonable rate. After all of this, we decided it was reasonable to not provide an exceptional tip. Upon taking note of this, the Server very rudely slammed the receipts on the table and walked away. Lastly, as we were then leaving the restaurant, she went out of her way to avoid us as she was clearly angered by our reaction to the situation. Overall, the tasting was great, the wine is great but the restaurant needs to do a better job at customer service, especially since it is a costly place to dine.
Wine tasting was great. Make sure you have Marilyn Merlot as your wine expert.
Always excellent.
I dislike leaving bad feed back but what a dissapointment last night was .My wife and I have our Aniversery dinner there every year .Time for a change.
Tasting room is awesome, my only complaint is the wine club, received tracking# Nov. 28, as of today Dec 12 no wine, hopefully tomorrow, we're due to fly out on the 16th, if no delivery my wine will be at the post office for 2wks ( not good), maybe they should send out off province orders a little sooner, so there's no panic.

Great wine, incredible food, wonderful service. Can't ask for better!
Awesome experience here, especially the restaurant. Great food and service, plus location. Definitely recommend.
Our tasting experience was excellent considering Covid19 looms. We were very happy!
The lovely venue, gorgeous view, and good company made this special event lunch very enjoyable. We were celebrating a special birthday last week so my parents chose Gray Monk as their preferred spot. The duck dish and the appetizers were excellent. The burger was quite tasty although we were all disappointed with the choice of bun. Very grocery store quality. I'd prefer a brioche or something more home made style. The seafood pasta dish had both tasty sauce and seafood but the pasta was just ok. Overall it was a nice lunch but next time I'd expect better or I'd send it back. Of course the wines were fantastic!
very good food and wines are very reasonable prize
I really like this winery for some reason. The story behind the winery and the values they hold adds to it. Their wines are great, they in my opinion mostly have table wines not many would I save up for a special occasion. I have tried ans bought most of their wine section and general don't have any regrets, if any it would be "why did I not get more?". Their price is very reasonable and affordable, most of the wines range from $15-25. They may not be the high end Laffit or Bordeaux wine but they very good for a medium sized winery. Like I keep telling people it's not the price that makes a wine good or not it's your taste. The food there is great. I stop to eat there almost every time I visit. Can be pricey but the veiw, atmosphere, and the the taste of food and wine is worth it.
Amazing atmosphere, people and food. Highly recommended.
5$ wine tasting for five wines. Great staff. Very informative! Loved their wine collection. Beautiful views and a great spot to take pictures as well. Did not try their restaurant but seems to be very popular spot. Looking over some breathtaking views over the lake. Affordable wine prices as well. Not too expensive for what you get. A must visit!!
Great views, terrible service. Waiter forgot to put in our order, at first lied about delay manager told us he forgot, and rather than them expediting our order continued to say it would be a long wait until manager finally said it wasn’t going to happen after 2hrs. It was our first night out alone since we’ve had our child and we weren’t in any rush but for them to not even put our order through was unprofessional and tells me they don’t know how to treat customers.
Wonderful wine and delicious food at the restaurant. The views were exceptional and the staff all very knowledgeable. I liked the fact that the food menu had a wine pairing suggestion so you didn't have to look silly asking if you are new to wine. Very cool atmosphere and of course everyone is happy to be there because well wine!
The Restaurant view is great. The food was not that great . The wines are over priced at the restaurant.
What a beautiful place had lunch at the restaurant there - food was outstanding will definately go back really friendly staff - loved the wine tasting ending up signing up to be a member.

It's always a great time having lunch at a winery especially Gray Monk. It was great seeing them check for vaccination certificate, made us feel more comfortable. As always the food was exceptional made more so with a bottle of their Pinot Grigio. Enjoy.
Amazing staff , very informative about their wines. You can do 5 tastings in 5 bucks. We felt very welcomed here and were catered to right away, despite it being super busy. Even bought few of their wines. We can’t wait to come back. Views are even impeccable.
Great white wines. Limited red selection due to the climate.
Restaurant review: Good but not excellent. Pricey vs Q Gate for what you get (for both wines and entrees). Highly variable portion sizes for same entrees brought to table. Understaffed at 8 pm with friendly but overworked staff in a restaurant only 70%full. Management? Same challenges as on our last visit 4y ago. Great views like all wineries. Some lovely wines to accompany dinner. Overall: Good but could be excellent with better organization.
Amazing wines and dinner was spot on.
This place is awesome! Great wine Great views Great choices Great employees with wine knowledge! I plan on returning to refill my stock!
I was at the winery for a tasting in September after a day of cycling. I have cerebral palsy and can't hold a traditional wine glass but the lady at the bar was super innovative and took a mug from the merchandise section to allow me to do the tasting. Hats off to her and Gray Monk for being so inclusive.
OMG! The view, the wines, the people! Try the Unwooded white. So good! :)
Excellent food amazing views and exceptional staff. What more can one ask for!
Nice winery, decent prices and friendly staff. Could have been a little more knowledgeable toward differences between wines but all in all good experience. The restaurant was nice with great food but beware the price of a glass of wine versus just buying the bottle upstairs.
Excellent wines with low prices!!! Top 10 winery in Okanagan Valley! Very nice staff!!
Great place: free wine testing, wine tour
Awesome place. Our server was very careful with my allergies and it has a tremendous view! A small mistake was made for our dining and she took our drinks off just to make sure we were happy. Wonderful Restraunt and wonderful staff!
Beautiful view from outside the winery and also from the restaurant. Didn’t get the chance to try the tasting but there was a line up so definitely book in advance. The staff was very friendly, and not pretentious, made it special for us. The food was amazinggg, tasted fresh, not too much salt, flavours amazing. Wine was great too.
Excellent siegerrebe, wonderful restaurant.
My boyfriend and I came in for a tasting and learned lkts about how to describe the flavors of wine. Dinner was perfect! We had the cheese platter which was fun. We had a chance to try the different layers of flavor and combine them with wine. The steal was marvellous and the fish was well balanced! I just wish there had been less fruit flies... But the rest was awesome!
Delicious food, professional service, amazing view.
Very friendly and informative staff. They have excellent pinot gris and port.
Great tasting experience
5 stars not just for wine but tasting experience. Wines were top notch. Jennifer was an absolute delight hosting our tasting. Really enjoyed the experience here. The heritage pinot noir is fantastic.
Fun tasting! Very knowledgeable staff. This winery has some of the oldest Pinot Gris vines. Great stuff at very reasonable price point. Highly recommended ????
Gray Monk was absolutely lovely, the food was magnificent; the patio was quite and quaint. Great views (spotted some cute deer eating the grapes hehe). Will definitely recommend!!! I plan to visit on my next trip to Kelowna
Second time here; first was during my cross Canada drive of 2028. Excellent wines, including their signature Pinot Gris. Very decent restaurant too. The Lookout, with a view to justify the name.
I went to this winery with my children and close friends. We ordered some expensive wine and platters. My son was playing on his iPhone and the waitress came and told us that children cannot play on phones. She didn't say it in a nice way or anything. She gave us attitude and then rolled her eyes when we tried to explain things to her. We had a horrible experience and do not recommend anyone else to visit this winery, especially anyone with young children. There are many wineries in the area with better views, food and better prices.
This winery is the highlight of the scenic wine trail. The guided tour was excellent. The restaurant has a beautiful view of lake Okanagan.
One of my favour winery in town! Great view and nice lunch as well
Beautiful Venue and great staff. Pricey restaurant but that is to be expected. The sommeliers are extensively trained- really know their product. Recommend late summer- really nice views of OK lake.
Amazing. Friendly and accommodating. And the wine!!!!!
Excellent place Excellent service so delicious food great vine perfect love it
Wine wine wine
The Gray Monks Winery is a jewel amongst Okanagan wineries. Wonderful staff, a great tasting experience and the food at The Lookout Restaurant is spectacular!
Gorgeous view and great wine. Staff are very helpful and we enjoyed seeing all of the breathtaking countryside while learning a bit about the history of the winery. I was there during the off-season and the restaurant was closed.
Very good wine! And the staff are very knowledgeable!
Great vibes... Emily is a wonderful employee amd tailors the experience to the clients. Thank you Emily!
I would recommend checking out the other vineyards in the area personally. Service was god awful and very impersonal. I've never been treated like less than zero until today.
Rude and unfriendly staff. Very dissapointed in service!
Janet was amazing. She was very knowledgeable and gave great tips on what type of food to pair with each kind of wine. Thank you Janet!!!
Fantastic views, and friendly staff!!
Great view from patio - nice lunch.
Beautiful winery situated by the river with a lovely ciew. Wine tasting was 5$ but waived if you buy a bottle of wine. Staff very friendly.
Great Kerner and nice view.
Very welcome atmosphere..
Had fun wine tasting and good wine too! Beautiful grounds.
We had a lovely evening here because of our own company. The only thing I would comment on is I made a reservation over a month ago for a birthday dinner and the table we got was probably the worst in the restaurant. It was quite disappointing as I had guests in from out of town. We were so far from the view you could barely see it. Disappointed
