I'm not a fan of the taste of most alcohol's, and I get hangovers pretty bad even when I only have a couple drinks. But this mead is DANGEROUSLY tasty! It goes down so smooth. I can have a bottle and wake up fine since there is only the natural sugar from the honey added. Staff is really knowledgable and kind! Amazing products!

neat gift shop, excellent meadery, and a real live honeybee hive right in the store (safely behind plexiglas). It's super cool being able to get so close to the bees and watch them protecting their queen, cleaning the honeycombs, feeding the larvae, and doing their pollen dance. Honey samples were a treat.

Great selection of honey lots of interesting products derived from honey including a number of fantastic meads. They do tours of the hives as well as tours of the meadery and they host an annual amateur mead competition as well as a 'Horde at the Hive' event with viking re-enactments. Fun for the whole family.

I love Chinook honey mead, and visiting the source is also as fun as drinking it. I've gone twice now and enjoyed it both times. It's fun to do the tastings and they sell a ton of related products. Fire and spice is my all time favorite because it is Christmas in a jar.

Came for a tour and did some mead tasting. Free tours are available 12pm and 2pm. Great customer service and great staff provided us with good advice on which mead flavours to purchase. They sell honey in almost every form, liquid, cream, soaps, wax, lotion. There’s also honey ice cream and popsicles!

This past summer we decided to head out for a drive. We headed out towards Okotoks then headed west towards the mountains. I spotted a sign off the side of the highway for the Chinook Honey farm. It's a short drive south off the main highway. Take a right turn and your there. We made it just in time for the honeybee tour. Its 10 dollars for adults and 7 for kids. They take you into another building opposite the store. Once inside, the girl fills you with a whole bunch of knowledge about bees. I myself never thought it was so intricate a process to make honey. The tour was very informative, and the other people on the tour didn't ask alot of questions. As a result didnt last long. After that we headed back into the store where we did a wine tasting. You get to try at least a half dozen types of wine all made with honey. I myself like sweeter wines, and that seemed to be what these wines were. The wines had different combinations with items such as blueberries and ginger etc. The store also carries other honey related items e.g. icecream with maple and honey, bee pollen pills and everything in between. If you've never been, then IMO is worth a quick trip out. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Oh, and we went home with 4 bottles of honey wine, a honey and beeswax candy/treat and ice cream all for about $95. Oh yeah one more thing I learned today is that they get honey bees imported from New Zealand. Who knew right ???

Unique. Drive from Calgary is far, I do wish that the actual tour was more interactive. I had my niece and nephew down for the week and thought it would be pretty cool to go see some bees in action. The Tour was more of an informative talk (classroom setting) , I thought we would actually see how things are done on a walking type tour. To say the least the kids eyes were glazed over and there were other kids that seemed bored as well. I wasn't overly entertained. Apart of me feels like the drive wasn't worth it, but I did enjoy the gift shop the did have some pretty cool products. It was good for the kids to see some bees through a glass container built in the building. Our presenter seemed well educated, and knew her material. Over all it was a good experience.

Worth a quick stop on the road between Okotoks and Black Diamond. They have a selection of locally produced honey and even mead for tasting and sale. Plus you can see bees in action, up close.

Stopped in because I had an idea for a parting gift that I dreamed up on short notice because it was for my brother's funeral and he used to keep bees on his property. Sheri helped me get the quantity and type of honey (raw creamed) that I needed for my project and she was also able to give me the jars that I wanted too. I asked Sheri if she could make some button stickers (the ones that go on top of the lids) with a specific image printed on them and she came through for me on that too! My technique for getting a lot of jars filled quickly was to put the honey into a Ziploc bag and pipe the honey into the jars as if I was icing cupcakes. They have a really cool place in the store that you can sit and watch bees working on a comb behind plexiglass. The comb is connected to the outside by short tubes and you can see the bees coming and going. I would totally recommend Chinook Honey Company to anyone. It isn't very far off of Highway 2 south of Okotoks and it is easy to find.

Drive out of calgary is a touch long, but totally worth it. The shop is great to browse, lots of unique products. The Indoor hive thing (no bees in the building, all behind shield) is really awesome. It's great to see how the process goes. Without a doubt worth the drive, plan a day trip, you'll learn a lot and have a really "sweet" time.

Today went to the store for the first time, we were enjoying the info and customer service the new employee was providing. We were trying a sample when the owner approached us and grabbed the jar from my sister. Now if it was done professionally and politely, but if was extremely rudely done. Then said something about a sign, to ask her assistance. I think she needs to learn proper customer service and people skills. Wow!! Bad experience!!

I was buying creamed honey from chinook honey for the last 5 years. About 3 months ago I purchased a 1kg container of creamed honey. When I went to use it the texture and product was not the same as previous purchases. It was dry and flaky and would not spread like a creamed honey should. I took the honey back to chinook and was told they had a bad batch and that I needed to put the container in boiled water. I did this but it still did not make a difference to the matter of the honey. I took the honey back for a second time and was told by their employee Pat that by her own admission, they had a bad batch of creamed honey that they send to another place to have it prepared. They offered me another container of the same batch of honey, but why would I want the same as what I bought. She offered it to me in two different sizes but in my opinion, I am getting the same product I am returning.I explained that I wanted my money back and I would return to buy creamed honey when they had a new batch. Pat became hesitant stating she did not know how to give me a refund. At this point I became frustrated and left without any resolution. In the end I felt it necessary to inform others, in my opinion, they have a deficient product of of multi flowered creamed honey , in all sizes and would rather keep selling it, rather than do what most businesses would do, take it off the shelves!

I've been buying a variety of honeys from here for a number of years now. The store is fun to visit because there's so much more than honey. Great gift ideas! Recently, I thought I'd find out more about mead, so brought in my wife and we inquired about the different varieties. The staff were so helpful and very friendly! We ended up with a number of bottles to try ranging from sweet to dry, with a variety of flavours in between. It was a perfect addition to the Christmas dinner! Great place. I highly recommend discovering this jewel just outside of town.

used to be my favorite, but recently I bought honey from them in summer. no aroma and crystalized one week after opening. I suspect that they use bulk honey from superstore and put in a jar and markup 30% profit... the quality is gone.

They have THE BEST local honey I've found. They also, as the name states, make their own mead and it is AMAZING!(little mead maker joke there????) The staff is super friendly and helpful and the selection of products in store is really good. It's a great place to find unique gifts. I drive from northwest Calgary to go to this shop whenever I need honey(for my next batch of mead), or mead(if my next batch ain't quite ready)????

The honey is incredible and the store is full of amazing gift ideas. You think maple syrup is a great gift from out of towners?
