Last time we went, a couple of weeks ago,we enjoyed two burgers and today, for a treat, we decided to drop in for lunch. We are fixed income seniors who don't have but one meal out a month as we are struggling to make ends meet so we were mortified today when J's halibut burger was bits of halibut in a lot of deep fried batter that had a seasoning so strong that it overpowered the delicate taste of the fish and although he has NEVER turned food back, today, he summoned all his courage and did so. And then I cut into my burger that was looking good up till the moment I discovered the inside was raw. We sent it back and by that time, we had enough of lunch so they packed up our new lunches (J ordered a burger like mine, and my replacement for the raw one.) Cut to a couple of hours later, I take out the burgers and one of them has a bite out of it. The cook took my raw burger that was sent back and PUT IT ON THE GRILL WITH OTHER CUSTOMER'S FOOD!!! I am mollified. What if I had Hep C? Everyone who ate there today was at risk. The cheque came 10%off because of the situation but it was still paying 27.00 for something that we wish we hadn't. We tipped the waitress a couple of bucks because its not her fault... but jeez...

Have been going there since they opened. Awesome Friendly staff who give awesome service. And the food is really good. Pancakes are huge and are very delicious with whipped cream, strawberries and side of vanilla ice cream lol. Lunch sandwiches are awesome, milkshakes and ice cream also awesome. Small and cramped. Felt like I was in someone's basement rec room with hockey jerseys hanging everywhere as if someone was air drying their laundry. It was dark and the two-seater table was overwhelmed with condiments. I had very little space left for my forearms. The small tables need compact condiments. The washroom was 2 feet behind me so I could hear and smell everything. Ugh... The Benny wasn't my style. The hollandaise sauce was 'stick-to-the-wall' thick. And I don't like the orange coloured egg yolk. The round potato wedges were good. The coffee cups are HUGE. And you know what they say about huge coffee cups... Did I mention it was very cramped, dark, and rec room-like? I like lots of room, bright with windows and a decent, modern decor. But hey, others like this style of restaurant.

We waited in line for 25 minutes then were seated at a booth. Our waitress was not as attentive as I would have liked, seeing as people who came in after us ordered before us even though we were ready. We waited almost an hour for our food and when it came it was cold. Their Benny’s are alright, definitely order the sauce on the side, as it’s thicker than mayonaise... The decor is alright, kind of a mishmash of random stuff all over the place, including their tables that barely have room on them. I dunno know, I personally don’t think this place was worth the wait.

We arrived with 14 people for breakfast on Father’s Day and found the staff so accommodating, it was a prefect morning to sit in the patio. We all enjoyed the personal touch with the extra large coffee mugs .. best mom .. Big Kahuna .... and Minnie mouse Coffee was fresh, hot chocolate was top with whip cream and best chocolate coconut milkshake in town. Hashbrowns where like homemade and everyone meal was delicious with great sized portions. And soft serve on waffles was a great hit with the kids. Serve and all food and drinks where excellent. Prefect Father’s Day breakfast gathering at the diner ????????????????????

Had a breakfast here the other day. I was very impreessed with how delicious the Houvers Rancheros were. In-fact it was too much for me and I cant remember this happening with breakfast for years. Nov 30/16 Just dropped in and had another yummy breakfast and was very impressed again. Only complaint is that the server grabbed my plate away without asking when she assumed I was finished. Grrrrr.

I've been there several times. The staff can not be said to be as quick as they are friendly. You need patience to get service and more patience to get your meal. If you can't spare an hour don't bother going here. The food is mostly great and plentiful- when it does arrive. It may not still be hot. The hash-browns are over-cooked deep fried sliced potatoes, to be avoided.

Sooooo slow. 40 minutes from placing order to getting Cobb salad and breakfast. Ordered eggs over medium that were barely cooked. Not cheap, but good variety and lots of cool dinner decor. If the service was better and order was correct I'd recommend it. I doubt I'll be back.

Me and my wife went for breakfast, We ordered 3 waffles, and 2 coffees. The total before a tip was $32.75... Now in my eyes waffles are badder. Not much to a waffle. I mean if the staff was over the top I would have been able to justify. But instead we stood at the door unacknowledged for about 10 minutes. finally being seated the waitress wasnt into her job, The service was GARBAGE. and to end it all the waffles tasted like cat food (Not that I've ever tasted cat food) Basically they were terrible. The coffee was COLD. I domt recommend this diner. Go To FLOYDS DINER literally down the road. You'll be much happier.

My husband is a janitor at Turmeric next door. I wasn't in the mood for curry for breakfast today so I decided to check out what was close by. I was delighted to find this all-day breakfast place. I've lived in View Royal for 3 years and I've been in Victoria since 2008. I'm surprised nobody told me about this place. I came across it when looking at google reviews. In any event, Chef made me a Belmont Benny this morning. Bacon cooked to perfection. The potatoes that come with the Benny are also cooked perfectly and taste lovely. I liked to dip them slightly in the Hollandaise sauce. VERY generous portions. They aren't skimping here... In fact, I am finding it is too much for me in fact... I've only eaten 4 bites of the benny and I am full. But then again, I did probably fill up on those MARVELOUS taters..(Chef calls them "hashbrowns). In any event I think I will enjoy the doggy bag. Staff is outstanding and open to suggestions. Top Notch Service! Good wifi connection as well. I will be coming back for sure, the next time I am no longer in the mood for... good curry for breakfast. But that might be awhile. I'm kind of picky about where I eat. I've really got to be in the mood and I hate eating alone. :( Oh well... Can't be helped today. @somena

I would give 0 stars if I could!! Do not support this restaurant!! I ordered my meal off of their website according to their price listed. I showed up, and they charged me extra for something I ordered which should have been included, but it was NOT specified on their site. The owner Kayla who was incredibly rude and clearly hates her job, refused to remove the extra charge, and even after I told her I would NOT be coming back, she didn't care... I told her that I would be writing a review, she did not care. Terrible business, terrible service, does not care about the customers.... do not support businesses like this. No where on their site do they disclaim that charges are subject to change. They are NOT honorable. Their website says "We’ll always welcome you with a warm smile and a great meal." not only did I NOT feel welcome, but Kayla basically said she was ok with me never coming back. And they are family owned, I would cringe to see how the owner actually treats her family.

We were given a gift card to this restaurant. Biked out there (great that it had a bike rack right outside). We enjoyed our lunch outside. They had a great selection. We ordered the Big Box Burger with onion rings and the Salmon Benny with hashbrowns. Both very tasty. Service staff were quick to seat us, deliver menus and drinks. Food was quick to come to the table and hot.

Excellent little restaurant, tucked in behind the walkway around the roundabout. The roundabout with the musical fountain. Good food, sporty atmosphere (memorabilia on the walls), and never seems too busy. Televisions mostly set to sports, and they are at a reasonable volume level.

I really wanted to love this place as I pass it everyday and I had heard great reviews. But overall it was just okay. The food was lackluster, and the atmosphere was a cute depiction of Langford, but if you're not a townie, you will NOT be welcome. They did not want to acknowledge us when we entered, eventually they had to, with an attitude that automatically labelled us as, "going to be a hassle for them." They gave us all of a minute to read the menu and order, and after food was delivered they could finally ignore us. I am unsure what caused this attitude but I definitely saw it towards other people were clearly not the usuals. If you're visiting out of town or looking for something different or nice on the weekend, this will not be your place. Food overall didnt wow either, I ordered the McMayor and I would have been happier with a Mcmuffin from elsewhere... It looked like it had a decent menu, of home comfort foods, maybe lunch is more their specialty.

Very disappointing. I had the pancakes and they were underdone, the side of fruit was over ripe. My mum had a meat lovers benny and it wasn't great. Service was slow. Had to track someone down for coffee as our waitress was much more concerned with topping up the condiments at the tables. Wasn't offered to redo the pancakes, something else or a discount on the meal. After spending $40 including the tip (which I still can't believe I gave) It was way over priced for what we received. Disappointing as I was looking forward to a yummy meal.

My friends and I have been going to this restaurant once to twice a week for over a year now. Since the first day we started going there the service and food have been marvelous. The staff are always there to greet you with a smile and the food... I can't say that I can complain about anything on the menu. (And I've tried pretty much everything) They even go out of their way to find me my favourite mug. (The blue little mermaid mug). My friends and I go to a lot of restaurants around the island and fountain diner is by far the best restaurant we've ever been to. The staff is absolutely amazing and they go above and beyond. I highly recommend anyone reading these reviews to go and try out their food for themselves. <3s To all the staff at fountain diner.

"famous french toast" is cardboard with syrup. maybe that's why it's famous? owned by the mayor of langford who is a cross between tony soprano and mayor MCcheese. he is much too busy cutting corners on building contracts and destabilizing the environment to concentrate on his restaurant. total rip off.

Love the place, a hidden little gem in Langford. I wish the hours were longer so we could have dinner. I marked it as a 3 because the coffee is horrible, absolute dish water bad, both decaf and regular. I’m not the only one that feels that way. I hear all of the time, great place but the coffee sucks. Service was incredibly slow. We went for breakfast a week ago. We had two different staff waiting on us. Very odd considering there was only two of us at the table. Despite this, Our drinks went empty with no offer of refill, Our food took a while to get to us, no one asked us how it was, to top our meal off even getting the bill was difficult. No one came around for us to ask for it. After several minutes of waiting, we had to get up and ask for it. As we were paying at the front counter, I noticed a bar rag on the floor that three employees stepped over. None of them bent over to pick it up. Ithe is very rare that I do not tip, this is one of those places that the employees do not deserve a tip. Save your money.

I would give 0 stars if I could!! Do not support this restaurant!! I ordered my meal off of their website according to their price listed. I showed up, and they charged me extra for something I ordered which should have been included, but it was NOT specified on their site. The owner Kayla who was incredibly rude and clearly hates her job, refused to remove the extra charge, and even after I told her I would NOT be coming back, she didn't care... I told her that I would be writing a review, she did not care. Terrible business, terrible service, does not care about the customers.... do not support businesses like this. No where on their site do they disclaim that charges are subject to change. They are NOT honorable. Their website says "We’ll always welcome you with a warm smile and a great meal." not only did I NOT feel welcome, but Kayla basically said she was ok with me never coming back. And they are family owned, I would cringe to see how the owner actually treats her family.

Food was fantastic, however service could improve. It’s not okay to leave the restaurant when you have a table waiting to pay. Had to go find another staff so we could pay, we were the last table to leave. Also “20min wait” turned into a hour of us waiting outside to be seated. There was no urgency at all from any of the staff to seat people. Wait time and slow service ended up being close to a two hour brunch.

Hoping this was just a bad day. Coffee was ok. Eggs cooked well BUT when you call something a meat-lovers skillet you should actually be able to find the meat not just a few random burnt to a crisp bits. The good stuff - restaurant felt very clean and sanitized and safe. Staff were super friendly. They are still doing contact tracing. Thank you for being open and letting us have a little bit of normalicy in this pandemic.

We came from mid Island and picked up our son in Brentwood and specifically went to this restaurant for lunch. When we arrived the we asked the server if we could not be seated at a booth as my husband is a big man and does not fit comfortably in a booth. She said that the section with tables and chairs is no longer open as they were down to one server. She said there was lots of room at the booth and that was all that was available. My son sat in the booth and it was barely comfortable for him and he is an average size man. We felt that this diner really did not want our business and we left and found another restaurant to have out lunch. We will not return as it is clear that customer service is not practiced here.

I took myself for a Mother’s Day breakfast today and had one of the worst experiences in my life at this place. I show up and go inside to ask what table I should sit at even though there was only one person sitting down. The lady said any table... so I sit for a very long time and after being forgotten that I’m there for a service I go inside to ask for a menu! I go back outside and again wait a very long time to make my order. Another customer after comes in and the waitress apologizes to him for making him wait! No apology to me though. I watch and sure enough the guy who was there 45mins after me gets his meal b4 me! I go back inside (my 3rd time) asking for my receipt and sure enough I finally get my food which was cold!!!!! Cold salmon Benny! I told the waitress how awful the service was and treating me like that was not ok. View other negative comments... it appears their service has been awful with other people!
