My experience with Canadian Web Hosting has been dreadful. I don't pay a lot, (approx. $240/year for an enhanced plan shared server plan), but this is no excuse for the amount of, crippling, downtime I've experienced. Despite the low traffic on my sites, they sites go down daily. More recently, the hard drive on the server crashed causing 16 hours of downtime. The following day, once the server was back up and running, they had the foresight to rebuild the server RAID several more hours of downtime - seriously? (EDIT: Feb 8, 2017) My server has now been down for 3 days. Each time I've contacted support, they assured me the server will be up in a "few hours." THREE DAYS! By the way, the complete downtime, for this service interruption, ended up lasting nearly 3 weeks. They issued no discount or refund,

The issue I needed fixed wasn't the typical problem, and support went above their scope of service to help me, and fixed the issue, as the issue was related to a third party issue. I see other reviews below that say that the support/service hasn't been as good as it used to be in the last year or so, and I agree. This is something that I have spoken to support about because it's something that has been very noticeable. However, it seems since that time I mentioned it that support is trying to raise the bar and get back to that level that we have all been used to. I am continuing to use their service, and hope that they continue improving their services.

Very Poor Customer Service = I've dealt with this company for the better part of 10 years. That's included them randomly putting my website on a slow server and not noticing that until I had complaints and had to call them to correct the issue. Contacting them is a big problem. If you need a responsive hosting company this is not it. They seem chronically understaffed and you can easily wait 30 minutes on hold even if you are in the 1st position in the hold queue. The staff seem unempowered to deal with issues or else poorly trained or lacking basic tools. I received an email that I needed to call in to update my credit card information for billing. When i called I sat on hold with no answer for 30 minutes despite being in the 1st hold position in the queue. The young employee who finally answered the phone seemed unsure of himself, stumbling over what he was asking, and obvious little experience in customer service. After going through all my issue he finally asks for my the last digits of my old credit card as a security question. I explain that the old card was compromised and that was the reason I was calling. That card was compromised, its dead and gone, I just need to give you my new information so you can bill my account and we can keep doing business together. Apparently he had no other means of verifying my account with me other than my old credit card number which is illogical that people with compromised credit cards can't call in their new information. Date of birth, billing address, email address, full legal name....none of this was acceptable information. After wasting another 10-15 minutes on the phone with the young man and him recommending going through password resets etc. I just said, "Look. If you can't use commonsense in updating my new credit card, please just close my account and I'll find hosting elsewhere." Well. Apparently, he can't even close my account. Well, my account will close on its own accord when they can't process my payments eventually. I asked for a manager to speak with. Apparently no manager was available. So, I've had to leave it waiting for their manager to call me back. Even if they do, this type of account administration is not something I think I want to continue with. The service has not been great and there are certainly better online hosting companies that back up their hosting with proper customer service. Update: A manager made a 'one time' exemption to accept my information. Eventually the company made an offer of a free month of hosting to make up for the problem.

Canadian Web Hosting never answer to your help calls. They don't answer to phone calls : somebody answers, but it's a company in Philippines that does the filter job and usually, they give you a ticket number and send you back on e-mails... where nobody answers. They do so, but people who respond to you don't know the web, don't know nothing about technical issues. I was answered twice that I should hire a specialist. Bullshit! They take your subscription money and don't want to hear from you after that, even for very simple problems. I'm getting out of there.

We've been with Canadian web hosting for almost 10 years. For the first 8 years the service was great but has declined dramatically in the last 2 years. We have a VPS account and a reseller account. During the last year we've had to call at least once a month to get either the VPS or reseller account hosting fixed. Just today, our reseller hosting has been down all day, I've had to call tech support 3 times, email tech support has said they fixed it, yet it hasn't been fixed at all. When I asked to speak with a manager, there was nobody there to talk to. Our website along with a number of our client's sites have been unaccessible for a whole day which means lost leads and lost business for us and all of our clients. We always try to support Canadian companies but we now have to recommend going elsewhere for hosting.

CWH used be excellent (I have been with them for about ten years), both in customer service and performance. Unfortunately, in the past couple of years the latter has suffered. My websites are often slow to load, and there have been numerous site crashes due to disk failure on the part of CWH (or at least that was the provided explanation). In one instance it was so bad that one of my websites was wiped out and the admin reset, allowing someone else to actually take control for a short time. The customer service definitely tried to help out and I commend them for that, but the amount of downtime is unacceptable. In fact, as I write this my websites are once again offline. I am now in the process of transferring all of my sites to a new host. From what I have been told by some friends in the internet/website industry, CWH was sold awhile back to an overseas owner and that resulted in some internal changes for them. Whether or not that is when the trouble started I am not sure. Either way, I recommend avoiding them.

Frustrating experience: "The server on which your account is hosted experienced an unanticipated disk failure yesterday. Due to the severity of failure, every possible attempts to restore data got failed. We have now manually created your account on a new server and we have completed the restore." My new "manually created account" has not been accessible consistently since I first received their email, 2 days ago meaning no emails. For a small business this is alarming. On the search for a new reliable web hosting provider, as I'm very disappointed.

Awful experience with Canadian Web Hosting. The server has crashed twice in the past year. Our website crashed (due to the server) on September 27th and is still not available on September 30th. They can not provide an estimated time frame for things to be up and running again nor would they forward me to billing to deal with our loss of service. I've been with CWH for 5 or 6 years now with various Linux VPS plans. Although CWH might be a bit more expensive than other generic and "so called" Canadian hosting, the quality of service is so much better that it is well worth the investment. Also, over the years, their prices have come down, while their VPS capabilities have improved and they have never hesitated to set me up with an improved server package, or a lower cost server package with no interruption or hassle. So disapointed about this company, I´ve been a client of CWH for 12 years and for the past 2 years my experiences has come from bad to worse in therms of serber uptime. Last week all my websites went down, it took them three days to get them back online, which they did manually, websites with jscript procedures were afected. Not so responsive as they claim to be, one of my email to support took over 18hrs to be responded. Today the server they placed my website at failed as well causing another outage. The customer service is actually pretty good. What I am getting frustrated with is the slow performance of their servers. When online, I can go to other websites in an instant. When I try to go to my website It always seems to be slow. I've tried to trouble shoot with simple html pages for the homepage but it never seems to make a difference. I should not say never but it seems to be this way most of the time I try. What gives? I suspect it is the volume they handle with all of their $4.00 per month hosting plans.

CWH host several sites that I work on. While there are sometimes glitches there is always someone on the end of the phone to talk to and usually the issue is resolved quickly. Two nights ago I understand they had a main server die and two of my sites disappeared. This took them a few hours to overcome, but still there was someone to talk to and a very informative email to explain their problems. Everyone has problems. It's not the problem that matters, it's how they deal with it. Never stop talking to us guys, it puts you ahead or the rest.

When I first started with CWH, over 10 years ago they were great, over the years the service and speed of their shared platforms have deteriorated to almost unusable. Many other companies have plans that offer many times the speed for the same price. I have contacted CWH, they have tried somethings they have even moved my sites to new servers but within a few months the issue comes up again where the site is so slow it is unusable. At one point I had about 12 hosted sites down to about 4 and moving those off as soon as I can.

Canadian Web Hosting has an affiliate program where if a web designer recommends their hosting/domain services to a client, they get $60. Yet it is supposed to take 4 months to receive just a $60 cheque. In reality it takes 6 months, and if you do not email and remind them, you actually will never see the money. It is very incompetent that a company takes half a year to mail someone $60. It is a direct reflection on how little they value the customer and their lack of customer service.

I have two hosting suppliers. It costs $100/yr for the security of not having to look for a substitute if one should fail - I can just move everything in a couple of hours. The side benefit is that I have direct comparisons of two distinct suppliers, Canadian Web Hosting and one other well-know shared service provider. I'm not going to advertise them here. The reason for the 4 stars, and not 5, is that CWH went through a bad patch that they seem to have corrected. There was some kind of crazy-ass denial problem, where my email logins were blocked because of some monitoring tool assuming someone was trying to break into my accounts. This caused quite a lot of grief for me. And there have also been performance issues where someone I was sharing a system with was hogging the whole machine. As I say, these things seem to have cleared up for a couple years. You may consider my attitude rather unforgiving, but I have had no such problems with the other supplier. On balance, I would recommend CWH as a good provider. Their support is responsive and the quality of the service in general is now very good.

This company used to be extremely good. In the last twelve months, it service has plummeted dramatically entirely due to its billing department who is constantly creating ridiculously over-the-top rules to prevent people from actually paying their bill. These include such things as that people give password information over telephones in public places (despite express service claims that their staff will never do so). Oh and not to forget that one's website is frequently cut off without any warning the moment there is a delay in paying the bill. Or the people who are supposedly there to help do not have authority to handle anything, leaving your account suspended for a full weekend. It's a shame. This used to be an excellent, well-run company but now it feels like the accountants have overrun it to the point that it is impossible for a simple person to pay a bill.

Mediocre service at best. Could not/would not fix an ongoing email problem we had for over 3 years. Finally moved to a new hosting company and have had zero email problems since. Cancelled our service yesterday and received an email asking why we were leaving and stated that without confirmation, our server would be shut down in one week (plenty of time to move the domain to the new host). I emailed back and gave an honest review of their service over the last 8+ years and they cancelled my service THAT DAY. Now my company has no email until my new host can get it transferred. CWH is not professional and very lackadaisical with helping resolve issues. 10/10 would NOT recommend.
