You know that we do not usually bother to put tatings when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Veterinarian belongs to the category of Veterinarian.
I think service wise, they are probably pretty good. They will probably be able to help with whatever your pet needs help with. But be ready to cough up your money. That's definitely their priority.
Great experience. Had to seek after hours care. Other clinics stated 3-4 hours before I could even see a vet. This place had us assessed, treated, and out within 2 hours. Cost was reasonable for after hours. Like extremely reasonable. Like - closer to a regular vet cost. I will absolutely be returning to this place. Staff was all amazing and friendly. I've been to after hours vets where everyone is angry but you deal with it because you just want the care. NOT HERE. Everyone was so kind and sweet and it really made me feel like my dog was in good hands. Call ahead of time to find out if they can see you, as they take emergency on a case by case basis. Thank you staff at Central Toronto Vet Referral Clinic. You saved me from a sleepless night and more importantly, you helped my puppy when she needed it. I appreciate it so much and (hopefully not but realistically) will be returning.
Judgemental. Made me feel as though I didn't love my cats enough because I can't afford their prices. Although first visit was pleasant and overall positive, tone changed drastically after I made it clear that I am a student without any savings, and wanted the tests they were suggesting clarified for me, so I could weigh how necessary they were against the cost. Got the money together for a CT scan anyway, booked for seven in the morning. They called us the night before to confirm and tell us not to feed her after ten. Next morning when we arrived, the receptionist had no record of our appointment and had to check with the vet to see if he had time. Also billed us for an 80% deposit in the thousands, which had not been mentioned previously, and which we could not pay in full because of daily limits on our debit/credit cards. We offered to bring a money order from the bank when it opened, but they would not accept it. Without $2000+ upfront, they would not do the test, and we had no choice but to go home. I starved my cat, upset her with a car trip, and paid for an uber both ways for nothing. She has cancer and I feel like it's my fault if she suffers and dies because I'm too poor. I can only hope another vet can help us by being more flexible and understanding.
Everyone at the clinic is outstanding. So much care, love and attention was given to my pup during our recent visit. When I called reception early in the morning the woman on the phone was calming and so helpful. The vet gave a detailed description of what my dog was going through, possible outcomes and treatment options. She was factual but at the same time, I could sense that her heart was truly there, she truly cared and gave me her full attention when I’m sure there was so much else going on. When I picked up my dog to go home, I could tell the woman who came to the door had made a sweet connection with my dog and it made me feel like she was really cared for. Could not recommend this clinic enough and although I hope for no more emergency visits - this will be my first call.
If it’s your first time heading here, there are two important things to note: 1) If you type this address in Google Maps (1051 Eglinton Ave W), it sends you to Mississauga. Don’t use the map directions. 2) The Forest Hill Veterinary Clinic is right next door. I made the mistake of waiting at their side door instead of the CTVRC street entrance. I came here because my dog was ill and needed emergency care. Dr. Vozner was extremely kind and patient with me as she explained the situation. She is extremely professional, yet compassionate. The front desk staff are very knowledgeable, responsive, and helpful. I very much appreciate the positive experience I had at this emergency clinic.
Friendly and very popular, appointments required and don't be late
The staff and Doctors were extremely kind and professional.
Brought my dog here for an allergic reaction but couldn't go in due to the clinics covid precautions. When a receptionist called me to pick her up, I was told the dr wasn't charging me for prescription shampoo (which she recommended in a previous call, but when I asked she had to check pricing). When I picked my dog up, I was outside door at 1am, handed my excited dog then told final price. When I got home there was no invoice in the stack of printouts they sent me home with. I had to call and have it emailed. That's when I saw I was charged $30 for the shampoo. To top it off the shampoo expired in April. Now they tell me I need to travel again to return it to them unopened in order to get my $30 back for the expired prescription shampoo I was not supposed to be charged for. Doesn't seem fair to me.
Excellent customer service from the staff and doctors are genuinely caring and concerned with ensuring my dogs receive the best care possible. Both my dogs have gone to CTVRC for critical issues and I have always been confident with the doctors’ advice. They take the time to discuss options and make sure I am given frequent updates. They have been very reassuring in times of distress.
Looked after my dog well. The only issue (which they told me about as it happened) was that I had to wait 20 minutes for shift change of staff. That shouldn't happen. There should be a smooth and seamless transition without any delay to the customer.
We are extremely thankful for CTVRC. The staff and vets are top in their field. Our cat has consistently received excellent care here. Protip: give yourself extra time to get there because the Eglinton Crosstown construction has caused some parking and traffic chaos
As fortunate as it is to have an emergency vet in your neighbourhood, the vet that helped us was one of the coldest people I've ever met. We had a late night emergency with our cat and were worried sick. The doctor had no empathy. She didn't even fake compassion for our cat or for us. It really felt like we were a a bank machine. I understand that they charge high prices for providing a service 24 hours but at least it can be done in a more humane way. If you can wait and avoid coming here I suggest it.
Very impressed with the quality of pet care. The vets are patient and guide through the entire diagnosis. The only place where they can improve is a timely response from the reception staff when the patients are waiting outside. Though it is not their fault as they are really overwhelmed with emergency cases and yet manage many appointments so efficiently.
Came here with my cat who hasn't eaten in 3 days. The staff were amazing, handled her with care, and now she's doing great! Would definitely recommend for any pet-related emergencies as they're open 24/7.
DO NOT bring your animals to this clinic! My kitten DIED in their care!! THIS IS A HORRIBLE UNPROFESSIONAL PLACE with INEXPERIENCED vets. They did not attend to my sick dying kitten when I first got there!! He was almost COMOTAOSE!! They made me wait 10-15 minutes until I finally started yelling and begging them to take him to the back to be seen by the vet. They wouldn’t let me go to the back with him either he DIED ALONE! They didn’t save him because they were MORE INTERESTED in $$$$ MONEY. The vet LOST VALUEABLE TIME, LEAVING HIM in the back in order to start explaining to us that he was in very CRITICAL CONDITION and that it was going to be VERY EXPENSIVE $$$. It was going to cost us $6000, they would need 80% deposit immediately otherwise they would NOT START ANY WORK to SAVE HIM. I VERBALLY told them that I WOULD PAY but they told me that I had to FIRST FILL OUT FORMS for them to START any WORK on him. They care MORE about MONEY than SAVING LIVES!!! I told her to do EVERYTHING in her power to SAVE him. He was infested with fleas and they literally sucked the living daylights out of him, he needed a blood transfusion etc. She came back out not long after took us to a room and told us that he STOPPED BREATHING, we were devastated that is all she told us. She asked if wanted her to resuscitate him or put him down. She offered us NO ADVICE! I said please just put him out of his misery. I found out last week after I asked for his file that HIS HEART was still WORKING!! She NEVER TOLD US this they offered no advice!! We could have maybe SAVED HIM! They only have 1 vet and a technician on call they PRETEND to be an EMERGENCY Care clinic they are NOT EQUIPED to HANDLE MORE than 1 CASE at a time from what I experienced. I brought HIS BROTHER there the NEXT DAY NO ONE WAS IS THE FRONT I waited an HOUR then I saw someone come out from the back she was REALLY RUDE and said it is going to be ANOTHER 2 HOURS and that there was ONLY 1 VET there! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE THIS PLACE IS A FARCE!!!
Came with my dog and the whole consult was non definitive and the recommended option was an overnight stay. Seems like pets here are just a big dollar sign.
Had an issue with the front office staff. Dr. Goldstein called me back and talked things through. It was unexpected but very appreciated. Thank you! Turns out it was a simple misunderstanding.
We were advised to go to an emergency clinic due to our cat not eating/drinking and frequent vomiting. The price for the consultation wasn't communicated to us until after we arrived and doesn't include any additional treatments or procedures, only a general assessment. The prices for finding out what the problem might even be were also pretty high. I understand that ER prices are generally higher, however it still seems like every opportunity is taken to add additional items to your bill, like food and medication rather than providing options that we can do ourselves. Our cat was feeling better after being given subcutaneous fluids for dehydration, which we settled on in order to take our cat to a local vet. The vet that we took her to the next day informed us that she has a heart murmur, something we didn't know about and wasn't mentioned to us by the ER clinic, making me wonder even more what was included in the consultation fee. Finally, I had emailed the staff the evening after the visit for the records to be sent to the clinic that I had booked an appointment for the next day, however I only received a reply the following evening, after the appointment... my cat finally ended up puking up a piece of tape she had eaten, presumably the reason for her recent behavior.
Mixed feelings about this place. I was happy they were able to promptly support and diagnose our pup and keep her safe, however, the vets communication was poor and we often felt like we had more questions after speaking with her. As there was no other options at 11pm on a weekend, you may find yourself stuck here like us. If possible, seek your personal vet.
The oncologist is amazing. Staff friendly and efficient. Vet techs very kind and competent.
If I could give this vet 0 stars, believe me I would. I took my pregnant canine Samoyed to Central Toronto Veterinary Referral Clinic at 8AM with the intention of getting her a c-section surgery which she was denied. At this time, my dog was very weak already and was panting very heavily. Her body temperature was 39.4°C. In the weeks prior to labour, her temperature was consistently between 37°C to 38.3°C. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the receptionist who assigned KRATOCHVIL, Stefanie to examine my dog. After completing a brief examination of my dog, which consisted of checking her with a stethoscope and taking her body temperature which read as 39.4°C, KRATOCHVIL, Stefanie’s prognosis was that my dog was perfectly fine and healthy. KRATOCHVIL, Stefanie strongly insisted we return home and let her give birth naturally at home in her comfortable environment and not proceed with a c-section. Approximately 2:30PM My dog gave birth to her first pup. At 3:50PM she gave birth to her second pup. Shortly after at 4:05pm she gave birth to her third pup. At this stage my dog was clearly exhausted and powerless. My dog had become overexerted and was no longer able to push and give birth to the remaining 8 puppies. At around 5:30pm, one and a half hours after the birth of the third pup we called back Central Toronto Veterinary Referral Clinic. They continued to insist that everything was okay and dismiss our concerns. My dogs internal body temperature at this time was 40.1°C and we made sure to communicate this to Central Toronto Veterinary Referral Clinic. Another hour passed of My dog continuing to try and push her pups out but was unable to. At this point we called Central Toronto Veterinary Referral Clinic whereas they once more dismissed our concerns and kept insisting that we keep her home and not to go anywhere else so she could be in a comfortable environment. We decided to forgo this clinic (CTVRC) and quickly began to search for another veterinary clinic that would be able to accept My dog for a c-section. In the end, because of KRATOCHVIL, Stefanie’s mistake we lost 8 puppies, almost lost our own dog, and paid $10,000 worth of vet bills. This all would’ve been avoided had we just got the original c-section from Central Toronto Veterinary Referral Clinic.
Helped me when my dog was attacked and bit by another. Fantastic service, people that care about animals
Dr. Goldstein has been very intelligent, kind and compassionate treading my cat with FIP. Made himself available at all hours and days through the hard times dealing with our pets disease. Highly recommend.
Took out LeiLei baby in during holidays, recommended multiple treatments and options. Seems very professional and friendly.
It took a couple of calls to get them look at the kitten. First call said to wait until later, I saw how concerned she was and advised to call back again. I was with my sister n law. My name is not on file. But once there, the wait time wasn't bad and the Vet called promptly to advise on the condition and possible scenarios. Was happy overall
They saved my cat's life after a pancreatic infection. They nursed him back to life and Dr. Goldstein has great bedside manner. Recently, Zissou's hind legs started bothering him and we wondered if he needed more insulin. Dr. Goldstein could have made us pay money to get some testing. Instead he told us to increase the insulation dose and stay in touch. And he waived the consultation fee. Obviously, he won't always do that but his actions showed me he cares. Even though it's far from our apartment, I'd recommend this place.
Very annoyed by this clinic and the reception. My cat is diabetic and in haemorrhaging pain. As far as cats go, she was geriatric. Last night, I decided it was time to put her down. I called in to get a price to do so and they only would give me the assessment cost- they refused to give me a cost to euthanize and cremate my little feline. In this time of difficulty, I need a little sensitivity and I wanted to know the associated cost to follow through on my plan. I'm a little upset that they did not have the willingness to provide me a clear cut cost. That certainly is not a transparent business practice! Thanks for nothing Central Toronto Veterinarian Referral Clinic
the vet was very kind to me and my mother. he helped us thoroughly understand the process of euthanization for our cat. id visit again with another pet of mine in the future.
Very Friendly staff at the front, however the vet was very rude and close minded. She insulted my feeding choice and claimed that my puppies raw diet was unhealthy. She was very judgemental and I had a terrible experience. I would not recommend going here.
Super helpful staff that really care about the animals. The facilities are immaculate and they are always ready to help.
Super friendly staff
Wonderful doctors, technicians and staff.
Very caring people who know how to keep you calm and take care of your pets
Friendly, optimistic staff that treated us and my pup with respect and care. Plus minimal wait time when we went compared to other places. Very helpful and re-assuring, definitely keeping them as my go to for vet emergencies.
Going to the vet emerg is never fun and always expensive. But these folks make the experience as comforting as it possibly can be.
Our 2-year old boxer, Logan, was in distress overnight; sounded like he got something stuck on his throat, coughing to the point that he was retching, gagging. This ER clinic was listed as 1 of 3 ER places on our regular vet's website and we happened to choose this one as it wasn't so far from us. We are greatful that we did. We had a great experience starting from the first phonecall to a follow up phonecall. Front line staff was very friendly and we were greeted and taken care of right away upon arrival. Shortly after checking his vitals while I filled out some papers, we were taken to an exam room where we waited for the doctor who came in about a minute or two. Dr Doug Riddell came in who is a very tall man and our boxer lately feels intimidated by tall people for some reason...so he started growling at the doc which was very funny for us as he had never in his 2 years done this ever. Dr. Riddell handled the situation very well then left and came back with some treats and patiently waited for Logan to warm up to him. (took more than a few treats but he won Logen over) Meanwhile he was listening to us and started examining Logan once he felt comfortable around him. He was thorough and explained his findings, treatments, outcome and possibilities. He was knowledgeable as well as patient, he was paying attention to us and our questions, and he even had a good sense of humour. We were very pleased with him as well the other staff. I highly recommend this place for your emergency situations and hope that you'll experience the same positive vibe we had at this clinic. Logan felt better already the next day so his treatment worked right from the start (injection and antibiotics) I also want to mention that they had faxed the findings of our visit to our regular veterinary clinic in just a few hours. I want to thank this clinic for being so welcoming, friendly and professional. Keep up the good job as it's hard to find great vet clinics. THANK YOU ????
They are very nice and what i most liked is the fact that Dr is always communicating to us all the solutions that need to be done to ensure our pet is safe and well. Big thank you to Central Toronto Veterinarian
The staff here are amazing and treated our dog like one of their own. They were there anytime we had questions or concerns after he was home with us. Very patient, professional and helpful! Highly recommend, if unfortunately you need an animal hospital for you pet.
My rescue dog was in kidney failure. She's very reactive and I was worried about how she'd do, especially since under COVID we couldn't see her. Dr Goldstein treated River like a beloved family member, calling us with frequent updates and giving us lots of honest and straightforward information to help us make the right decisions for her and our family.
Worst of the worst must awful experience ever
Dr. P. Chan was great! She really took the time to explain the condition of our pet and helped us to make decisions.
It's been a tough year for our dog Verne, he had two TPLO surgeries on his hind knees. Dr. Plesman has been with us since the beginning and has gone above and beyond given all the check ins and scares along the way in recovery - she is super considerate and aware of how surgeries like this affect not only the dog but its people. We never felt pressured to make costly decisions in a vacuum and they always offered us options and time. You really get the impression that when the dog is there, that he is well taken care of.
BEST experience I have ever experienced in an emergency clinic. The staff and Doctors were extremely kind and professional. When I received a call from the DVM she explained in detail what the situation was with my dog. Even after we left the clinic, we called several times with questions and they were always there to address our concerns. Thank you CTV!!
Dr. Ho, Dr. Plesman and the supportive staff have been wonderful in their care of my pet. They have always been responsive and helpful when I call in, during our appointments and thereafter. I am appreciative of them leaving no stone unturned for her and providing a high standard of medical care. I would recommend CTVRC highly.
Literally a life saver. This clinic is open 24 hours a day, even on holidays. Wouldn't trust anyone else in an emergency when it comes to my pets. The vets are very kind, knowledgable and experienced, and the vet techs are extremely professional and helpful. I took my puppy in recently when he had a severely upset stomach. They were very thorough about ruling out all possibilities from Parvo to parasites. They can perform a lot of the diagnostic tests in-house that usually need to be sent off to a lab, which is great for fast results and peace of mind. After an examination from the vet, one of the techs usually takes some time to talk you through how to best care for your sick pet at home, from diet suggestions to warning signs to watch for (I've had to pry this info out of techs and vets at other clinics). Wait times to see a vet are usually pretty short too (but this of course will depend on how busy they are). I always give their contact info to friends who are bringing home new pets. My only advice would be to bring a sweater in the summer as it can get quite chilly inside. The coffee machine, phone charging station and "human treats" + "pet treats" are a nice touch in the waiting room for pet parents who may have to wait while pets are being treated.
Great people
Friendly staff with great service. You can really tell that they really care about the animals as much as you do. Anytime my cat is brought everyone always complements her and always is looking to hold /play with her. I would recommend this clinic to anyway who is looking to get the best service available for your pets.
Amazing staff. They were so caring, quick to respond, and empathized with me. The wait times are long, but completely worth it.
I've had to bring a few pets here over my lifetime. The clinic is very empathetic and professional.
Above and beyond any care I’ve ever experienced or expected to experience. I will never be able to thank this staff enough for the care, the compassion, the support, for everything.
Excellent care, caring staff, top quality surgery. Everyone is commenting on how nice a job they did removing a very tricky growth.
Excellent service from front desk and support staff, very professional and welcoming. Dr. Finora is amazing, he was very thorough and took the time to explain everything about our dog’s condition. Highly recommend CTVRC
The vets and vet techs are very friendly, patient and professional! Be aware that costs will be higher then other clinics but that's because this is an emergency referral hospital open 24/7 and they have Internal Medicine Specialists and equipment. The rooms are very clean and the interior has a modern aesthetic design.
Overall, our experience was poor. After obtaining second and third opinions in other veterinary hospitals, I decided to continue treatment elsewhere. The location, reception, service, knowledge etc. at CTRC pale in comparison with my experience elsewhere. For anyone looking for oncology, consider the oVC Animal Cancer Center in Guelph or Animal Health Partners in North York. These hospitals offer the most state of the art facilities and top notch experts so knowledgeable it is difficult to justify staying with CTVRC. CTVRC was awful, actually.
My dog had an emergency , and when I arrived they didn’t let us in. They were on the phone for half an hour asking for general information before helping out my dog. The questions shouldn’t be long as my dog could have die at that moment. They are taking so much time instead of taking care of the dog!! Such a poor service! Uptade: Read you comment. I understand you can’t let people in to the clinic, but as it is an emergency and anything could happen to my dog, you should take care of my dog while gathering information on the phone. Since secretaries are on the phone who ask questions and the vets are the ones who take care of the dogs. Hopefully you guys improve the service as well as your secretaries so at least they can be nicer than being rude. Thanks
Hy everyone. I would Not recommend Central Toronto Veterinarian! I believe that if you love your pet that is a lot of options in Toronto so you can take care of your pet. They take advantage of you in a moment of crisis! They over price me and promise to a service a service that they didn't do! And because they didn't align my dogs leg when they were supposed to now my dogs leg can't be fix 100%! It is sadly that we had to true this and is upsetting to know that I couldn't count on them to do a good job!
Came at 12:30am, the vet was in surgery but assistant helped and saw my cat and eased my mind... completely for free! I was amazed and prepared to pay big bucks. I am not very close to this vet but will gladly return for a 24 hour emergency service. I never met the vet but the technician was so nice, I couldn't have asked for anything better.
Faster service and better ER prices than the other hospitals around my area in Mississauga. I recommend this place to all my friends who own pets. Honestly the drive down is so worth the reduced wait times. You'll still come out ahead even if you're stuck in traffic due to how fast and efficient this place is!
Everyone was extremely helpful and upbeat. Dr made the experience very easy and understandable.
Both Dr Finora and Dr Goldstei; I'm more grateful than I can express. When you're in our position, you want the very best. I am entirely satisfied that is exactly what we are getting as we have been treating our boys cancer here for some time..
Great place and friendly
I don't know where to start. Without Dr. Goldstein and his team I never would have had an extra year with my precious Daisy Duke. They are professional, kind and caring made. They made me feel comfortable and the staff was always there for my husband and I throughout my Daisy's cancer. Their love for animals, and the personal care they gave Daisy will never be forgotten! Thank you Dr. G, I feel so blessed to have met you. You are my Vet for Life!
Very fast service. Nice staff. Regular phone calls to update me on my cat going into and coming out of surgery
Brought my very sick little pup here for an emergency. The staff were amazing. Very caring, knowledgeable and I'm happy to say that my pup made a full recovery.
When my elderly cat became very ill in the summer of 2017, I was referred to this clinic by my veterinarian for diagnostic tests. I also took her there for one after-hours emergency visit. While it was expensive the fees were fair in my opinion. The staff is extremely patient, accommodating and compassionate. They helped establish a certainty that my cat was suffering and would not get better. I will be grateful for their assistance for a long time. Thank you.
Took my dog here for emergency surgery as my usual vet wasn't available. The surgeon and team took the time to explain everything to me. I was frantic and they really put me at ease. Thank you all for saving my fur-baby!
Our cat’s health was declining and all vets and emergency clinics were fully booked for days. They took our cat in. While the outcome wasn’t what we had hoped for, they were so incredibly patient and kind throughout the entire process. Because of the current situation, we were worried we wouldn’t be able to be with her to say good bye. However, they provide a safe environment on an outdoor patio and we were so appreciative of that. Thank you all again!
Great vet. Extremely communicative, friendly, caring and professional.
I had to bring my dog here for an emergency on new years day. The staff was all really nice, really caring and sweet. No issues with any of the staff.. they all seem like they genuinely care. I told the doctor what was wrong with my dog and instead of listening to me, she started recommending all these tests and keeping him hospitalized for 24-48 hours. I knew my dog was dehydrated so I let them hospitalize him overnight.. but they kept trying to push an ultrasound which couldnt happen until the morning.. I know my dog didnt swallow anything (highly unlikely), so why make my dog suffer all night and wait until the morning for a $500 ultrasound. If you need to confirm theres no blockage in order to give him a vomit suppressant then do an xray right away so we can get the right medicine for him. She just kept pushing this ultrasound which caused me to come here and read everyones reviews. I checked him out of that hospital in the morning and brought him to our regular vet who did all the necessary tests and healed him for $800 when this hospital bill was already $1000 with no solution in sight just more tests tests tests. I would come back if needed in an emergency but only until my vets office opens. It is a bit frustrating when you have to keep saying listen I know my dog didn't swallow anything, lets move on to the next step... and being undermined.
STELLAR SERVICE!! I am a veterinarian myself and help run a small, but growing house call veterinary service. Whenever one of my patients requires hospitalization, x-rays or any other special diagnostics beyond what can be done in the home, CTVRC is always first on my mind to have my patients referred to as I know how thorough they are with the care of their clients and patients!! I found myself in this very situation when my own kitty Mooky was in respiratory distress last weekend--as of all the things he could get--he had a fly larva (cuterebra) lodged high up in one of his nostrils!! He needed urgent in-hospital imaging (CT scan and ultrasound) and special instruments to have this obstruction removed and to make sure no other larvae were present. Dr. Michael Goldstein and his entire staff were super attentive, caring and thorough to my concerns and Mooky's well-being as he has never really been away from home. From the comforting phone staff and veterinary technicians (one of the lovely technicians, Kym even took a photo of her cuddling with my cat in the hospital to show me he wasn't alone being hospitalized for 2 days)!! Dr. Michael Goldstein is the BEST VET!! He has actually saved my kitty twice, the first time being when I was still in vet school!! When I found out he opened his own hospital I knew he would set an amazing culture and service to help pets and their people across Toronto and beyond!! Dr. Michael Goldstein, I cannot THANK YOU and your team enough for saving my best boy!! I will continue to refer my clients to you because I know FIRST HAND what EXCEPTIONAL CARE you provide your clients and furry patients!! Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts, Dr. Tina & Mooky.
This is a good 24hr emergency veterinary clinic, I brought my dog angel here to get checked, she was 13yrs old and really sick, they let me know how much it would cost to try to get her back in good shape but it was way to pricey and I already knew it would not be fare for angel to go through that so I made the hard choice to put her to sleep, the veterinary Doctor was awesome and so was the rest of the staff they were so nice and understanding and allowed me to be with her before to say my goodbye and after, they are really at good communication.
Took great care of my pup
The team at CTVRC is outstanding; they're all heroes, especially Dr. Kry. The staff is hardworking, dedicated, experienced and skilled. Our dog has had 2 surgeries here plus an orthopedic surgery consult where surgery was not recommended. We completely trust them and hope to spend many more years with our healthy pooch thanks to everyone at CTRTV.
My dog had the unfortunate experience of needing three back-to-back major orthopedic surgeries this year, and I am so grateful that we had Dr. Plesman to work with for this extremely difficult process. She did an excellent job with the surgeries themselves but also went above and beyond to help on more than one occasion, and she had all the patience in the world not just for my dog but also for me as I struggled to remain optimistic for a lot of the latter portion of the extended recovery process. Dr Plesman helped both Lexi and I to stay in the game and I am so grateful for it as we are now almost back to "normal". The staff at CTVRC were also so kind and patient, it's been very difficult to go through this all and especially during COVID, but they really came through. Thank you all so much!!
CTVRC took excellent care of our puppy and we are very grateful to them.
Had my cat come in February 25th as he was throwing up since the evening before. The doctor did a physical & bloodwork, said everything looked good. Discharged him with medicine and care instructions. Come the outlined time to give my cat water and food (around 8PM), he wouldn't take. Then he began vomiting, again. I called Central Toronto in the evening stating my concerns and was told "well, it is just the first night on medication". Excuse me? First night, yes. So much can happen in that first night! My cat continued to vomit so I took him to a different emergency vet seeing as Central Toronto had such an ignorant response. The new vet evaluated him and looked at the bloodwork completed by Central Toronto - the bloodwork was was NOT good, my cat had a low platelet count! He's being cared for the right way, receiving an IV drip and the appropriate medication. Just because you may see similar situations a number of times within a given day does not mean you half-heartedly care for the pets placed in your care.
If your pet needs urgent or complex care - DO NOT HESITATE - take them here! The vets at this hospital are incredibly professional and knowledgeable yet also compassionate and friendly. I thought a hospital that sees lots of sick pets every day would be cold and uncaring, but that is the farthest thing from them. We brought out 12 year old dog, Toffee, in critical condition after a few vets told us there's not much to do. They immediately ran some tests and told us exactly what's going on, and gave us a details plan of action. From the very first moment we felt like our pet is in the BEST hands possible, they gave us so much peace of mind. He's been with them for a few days now, and they keep updating us constantly, and sending us pictures and videos, and answer any questions we have very patiently. Absolutely the best. They treat our pet as if it was their own.
everyone was very nice, but the girl at the front desk waited 15 minutes before telling the doctor that we had arrived?? Otherwise the doctors were great and it was clean. Obviously, very incredibly expensive (as vets are).
Outstanding service ,professional. Saved our Mira's life !!
I wouldn't even give one star if I was able to! Very friendly front office staff but very judgemental and negative technician staff. Even after waiting three hours with my cat, I was not able to see any vet and then left. Along with other patients, who were disturbed by her attitude, I asked for the technician lady's name many times, but did not receive any clear information. These people do not care about animals and make their parents feel like the worst human beings on earth because their companions got sick.
Professional and efficient. Our cat is feeling a lot better thanks to them. Thankful there are no long waits here. Monkey says hello guys!
Excellent service. When our 12 year old Maltese stopped eating for days, this clinic correctly diagnosed her with pancreatitis and dehydration, and nursed her back to full health, giving us regular updates throughout her stay. I would highly recommend this clinic.
If you need to go here, it's never for a pleasant reason. But the staff at CTVRC are the picture of professionalism and compassion. They will always accommodate your pets needs, and will administer the best of modern veterinary medicine. If your pet must be put down, the staff here will attend to your last moments together in the most sensitive and professional manner. Your pet will be well-cared for here, just be aware that emergency veterinary care is expensive.
Life savers
ALWAYS READ NEG REVIEWS BEFORE GOING ANYWHERE! Brought my cat in for an emergency check up, blah.. Then brought him back here for a $1,100 ultrasound. I was told on my first two phone calls that the fee includes checking pretty much anywhere the vet can check with the ultrasound (under the neck). After, I was told that wasn't the case. My phone records all calls btw & it's all recorded. Either way I decided to go ahead & look for what's wrong with my cat here. I had another option to take my cat to get the same ultrasound done at another clinic for less than half the price ($450) but it would have been done by a sonographer & then the photos would get interpreted by a specialist (with experience) who then would send the findings on a piece of paper to my vet with no chance of real communication between the specialist and I. I decided to pay the extra money & take my cat here for the ultrasound because it was a confusing case & I wanted to properly communicate with the specialist. A lot of good that did. I was told the name of the doctor that would be doing the ultrasound over the phone & I was looking forward to dealing with that doctor. This is during covid so I wasn't allowed in. I dropped my cat at the door & they did everything while I waited in the car. It turned out that another vet (an intern!) did my cats ultrasound & they didn't ask if that was ok with me or give me a choice! Not sure if there was another specialist watching everything he did, guiding him but I was very disappointed they'd just switch people on me like this & WITH AN INTER! I should have just took my cat to the other clinic for $450! So this intern saw my cats pancreas is very very enlarged & prominent, as he put it, & my cat is clearly in pain, got better with antibiotics (pancreatitis causes infections) & is puking & not eating as well, BUT THE INTERN THINKS IT'S ALL IN MY CATS HEAD! I'm dead serious...I paid $1,100 for someone to see my cat is sick and call him CRAZY! He spends half an hour on the phone telling me how the pain is FOR SURE, 100% NOT coming from his enlarged, very prominant PANCREAS (as he said, the pancreas shouldn't even be visible with the ultrasound, YET THERE IT WAS, HUGE MATCHING ALL SYMPTOMS), but he was 100% sure that my cats pain is all in his head! He's really convinced that my cat has mental/behavioural issues;thinks there's not enough excitement around him, meanwhile he is treated like a person &has 3 other cats & a dog to play with, a huge outdoor cat patio with plants, 3 floors of house to run in, his best friends are a doberman & a long haired street cat rescue & is the smartest cat person I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Plus he gets love, cuddles & playtime from me everyday, including outdoor time in the backyard outside of the cat patio. So later I did research online & Viola, I found a famous vet reporting that the medicine my cat was recently on CAUSES PANCREATITIS! So I sent him the links & he just blows it off & says that famous vet is wrong! Am I the only sane person left on this planet? That's what dealing this clinic has made me feel! I really should have gotten a discount for all this. I still should! I decided to come to this stupid clinic for the experience of the specialists & I got one with 0 experience & is probably only good at passing useless exams! My vet is going through his list of things to give & try on my cat that will waste time & MORE money SO HE CAN LEARN AT OUR COST HE'S WRONG?! (IF) And I'm NOT giving my cat mental health pills, no way, no more side effects from garbage pharma while doctors deny everything! Everything herbal from now! He didn't even write in the report that pancreatitis was a possibility! Just b/c pancreas levels came back normal & he has no fever, doesn't mean it's not pancreatitis; he has all other symptoms. Even though it's rare for lipase/amylase levels to be normal in pancreatitis, it does happen especially when it's chemically induced by medication which he was on before (furosemide) IT'S DEF NOT IN MY CATS HEAD! Sorry but that's an insult!
We had no where to go Sunday Evening and Googled Emergency Clinic. This was our first time at Clinic. I walked in and advised Pancha was very ill and I had no clue what was going on with her. Vet grabbed her and noticed her mouth colour was not good. They immediately took her to see what was going on. They Pancha was then taken to Emergency Surgery immediately and they saved her life. The only con I had was money. We paid quite a bit to save our baby's life and would do it again. Our only concern was on a Sunday night, no banks open and we were not sure if our Credit Card would process the amount, we were told if the card did not work, they would refer us to another clinic that would be able to finance. We had the money but not on us. It all worked out, but I keep thinking, just if? I think they need to follow a better system when dealing with late night/weekend situations. But they were definitely professional and they saved my baby's life. Thank you :)
Such a caring and professional team! We were so grateful that they were able to assess our dog at short notice late on a Sunday night. They were able to make sure he was okay until we could follow up with our regular vet. Thank you so much for reassuring us and taking care of our boy!
Hugely impressed with the staff at CTVRC, and especially with the compassion and professionalism of Dr. Kimberly Ho in internal medicine. Our little lemon chihuahua Rosie had developed three huge bladder stones, and Dr. Ho and her team made the awful experience of removing them as smooth and minimally invasive as it could possibly have been. On behalf of Rosie, we’re super relieved and thankful to the staff!
We had to take our cat there after he had blocked and could not use the bathroom. The staff were very clear with explaining our options and what we happen. After doing everything they could they managed to clear him, but alas it would not last. We eventually had to put him down. During this difficult time the staff were amazing. They were very understanding and made a difficult choice much more comfortable. Def. they place to go if your regular vet. is closed.
Very angry - I wasted time and money to get there only to have them cancel my cat's CT scan. They wanted an 80% deposit of 2000 dollars up front (which I was not told about in advance; the estimate was 1500), which I had no way of paying save for certified cheque. They did not tell me beforehand that I would need to pay while dropping her off, and since it was 7:00 AM, my bank was obviously not open. Despite saying previously that a cheque would be acceptable, as well, they changed their tune and said they would only take debit, credit, or cash. My bank imposes spending limits per day and would not allow a payment of thousands of dollars at a time, as an anti-theft measure. They were unhelpful, unprofessional, and I'm never going back.
We took our 8 month old puppy to this vet yesterday as she hurt herself at the dog park. She was seen by the triage nurse and she assured us that our puppy didn't need any further testing. (just some ice to bring down some of the swelling) It would have been a long wait to see the doctor but we were confident in her assessment. We were so impressed that they didn't try to push unnecessary xrays on us. I highly recommend! (she is back to herself today!)
This clinic has added years to my dog's life, I am so grateful for the amazing work that they do. They treat their patients with the utmost care. Their staff is supremely knowledgeable and also caring and friendly. They also have top notch equipment on site for any tests that need to be run for your pet.
Professional, honest, reasonable prices. An emergency clinic as well. Highly recommend Dr. Ho and clinic.
Good care for those who can afford it. For those who cannot, the temperature of this business cools down noticeably after the estimate.
Very professional and helpful. My dog has been here for 2 surgery's and both times the staff have been very helpful and communicative.
Looked after my sister's dog really well
Very long wait times...Emergency blood work took 2 days.
the vets constantly change. the last time I had a new vet and he never bothered to read my dogs issues and kept telling us the wrong thing and had to be corrected. the vets that have been there are much better
The worst client service I experienced before. Grate zero for you client service !!!!! I called from home and they said that the the consultation would be 106 dollars arriving at the clinic they wanted to make me sign a term to take my dog to the emergency and it would cost 500 dollars. Deceiving the customer is not a good practice, I hope you have regretted it. My dog is senior and has heart problems and refused care !!!! DON'T GO THERE !!!! Don't spend your time and money and can cause you a pic of stress like is happening to me.
Amazing and caring Vets, other staff members. They all have caring and compassionate attitudes towards their clients. Great place to go.
Great service and a place you can really trust to bring your beloved pets. 5 stars.
Super slow service.
The care they provide to my cats is fantastic! Medicine comes back in little white bags with a heart next to their name.
I was glad to find a 24 hr vet within 5km of home. The staff are friendly. Pricey, but thats to be expected with an all night service. It was worth it for the peace of mind
Very good compassionate service. Dr. Lisa was very helpful during an emergency we had with our dog and very understanding, taking the time to answer our questions. Also was very realistic with us, not trying to push unnecessary services. I hope another emergency doesn't happen to bring us back, but should it happen, I would feel very comfortable with my pet in her hands again.
Came here for an emergency infection on my dogs leg. The staff were nice, professional, but clearly extremely busy. Wait time was also looooong, but that’s to be expected at emerg. Docked a star because they told me they would send the X-rays and other documentation to my regular vet, and they didn’t. I had to call them to remind them. Then, turns out they only sent the notes, and not the images. Overall, pretty good experience all things considered.
Very knowledgeable and kind staffs. They are very honest and great peopel. My puppy was dying when I brought him in, but he was running around after 12 hours taken care of at the vet.
Great team, extremely friendly. Took amazing care of our sick pup.
Wish I could give them justice. They held our hand through a very tough process, and even catered to a unique communication problem we had. Simply put; I can't say enough positive things about the entire operation. If I could thank them again, I would.
Excellent clinic that took exceptional care of my dog who had cancer right until the end. Dr. Finora and his team really care about the pets and it really shows. Emergency team is also great and helped me through several tough spots.
Even under COVID-19 restrictions (more on that below) the emergency vet treatment was VERY GOOD. Fees were plainly and pleasantly discussed when I asked and a few treatments were able to be substituted for a lower cost without fuss. Treatment was quick and followup instructions were clear. Operating under COVID means no waiting room access. Be forewarned!! Late at night, there is *nowhere warm* to sit and without a car your best options are the bus shelter right in front of the door or finding something down the road (quite a walk). With a car, there are a few parking spaces beside the clinic on the side road. All interaction with the clinic is done through phone calls which were prompt and respectful. The vet called multiple times throughout the treatment to consult and let me know what was happening. Overall, I was put at ease by the competency of the staff and quality of care my pet received. Recommended.
Very compassionate care.
If your pet is in need of emergency or specialty care, this is where you take them. Kind, professional and knowledgeable. Dr. Ho and Dr. Goldstein are especially awesome
It is not often that I take the time to leave a review, but I wanted to give a ‘shout out’ to the great team at CVRTC! My senior maltese has many complicated and ongoing digestive issues that have become increasingly challenging and have greatly affected the quality of his life. We had the good fortune to obtain an appointment with Dr. Stephen Kruth (internal medicine). Dr. Stephen Kruth was exceptionally knowledgeable, thorough and professional. My doggie has visited a number of veterinary specialists over the years, but I can confidently say that my experience with Dr. Kruth was by far the most positive. As any pet parent may well understand, it is beyond stressful and scary when your pet is ill and in pain. I greatly appreciated that Dr. Kruth took the time to thoroughly discuss my dog’s health issues and answer all my questions/concerns (and I had many!) in a very patient, kind and compassionate manner. In addition, he was timely to return my calls and deliver any pertinent information. I can say that I feel 100% confident in his diagnosis and can breathe easier knowing that my 'fur baby' is under his highly competent care and guidance. I also wanted to mention, that the reception staff was very friendly, always helpful and very efficient. Kudos to handling everything so well during the challenging times of COVID-19. Keep up the good work!
Took my pet there because his regular vet was completely booked, $600 later I'm told that they have no idea what is wrong but I should leave him overnight for observation for an extra $1400. When I refused and said I wanted to take my pet home, she said, "I don't suggest that, your pet might die during the night" Guess what 1week later and my baby is still alive.
Helpful and compassionate staff.
10 out of ten for me.. Great service ????????????
Not normally one to write reviews, but felt I needed to. It’s Easter Sunday, and we booked an emergency appointment for our dog - she was vomiting with small amounts of blood 4x a day + refused to drink water and we felt it couldn’t wait until Monday. I called in advance given the COVID situation, and the reception told me to come immediately. Within literally 2 mins of arriving, they took her in. The doctor was calm and thorough, and was very clear about our cost options, as we do not have pet insurance. We left with a plan to tie us over until tomorrow, a bunch of doggie drugs, and I’m happy to report that 4 hours later - she is already feeling much better! Starting to see tail wags, grooming herself again, etc. Thank you Central TO Vets for being such an empathetic and caring team! My dog, my mental heath, and my wallet all thank you ❤️
Dr. Michael Goldstein is not a very good oncologist/microbiologist. Before the appointment, he stood in the adjoining room and bragged loudly how he was a microbiologist and how important he was. I am not sure whose benefit that was for, but it was obnoxious. He then misdiagnosed my whippet with Histiocytic sarcoma and delivered the news with zero attempt at compassion or empathy. He told me my dog had 1 to 3 months to live. This was 3 years ago, my whippet is still alive and perfectly healthy. He also tried to convince me that chemo doesn't effect dogs, which I can't confirm but seems suspect and like he was trying to bully me into paying for chemo for a dog was had supposedly 3 months max to live. Don't go to this vet.
CTVRC is a Toronto veterinary referral facility owned and operated by Dr. Devon Boyd and Dr. Michael Goldstein. We provide our patients with the best available treatment combined with outstanding patient care. Our Toronto veterinary clinic provides consultations for surgery, internal medicine, oncology, as well as advanced diagnostics through an on-site CT scanner, ultrasound, and digital radiography.
Very expensive, but great service
Great staff and knowledgeable vets. Gave me their honest opinions without pushing for expensive or stressful procedures.
Quick, efficient handling of our emergency situation was greatly appreciated. Once our dog was triaged we were informed, given options and made part of the treatment process. Even with all of this *and* it being off hours ( Sunday) the final bill was quite reasonable.! Good work guys!
Good, organized and friendly staff that help you to their best abilities.
Worst service ever, if you love your pet don’t come here.
They admitted my dog immediately. Provided excellent care and information about our situation. I would recommend this clinic to all pet owners. They were organized, professional, and the vets genuinely cared about the well being of my dog.
I have been taking my dog here since summer 2021. We were refereed here by another Vet, as she needed to see a specialist regarding her medical condition. We thought our dog would have passed due to her being extremely weak, and not eating. Luckily, we were able to get an appointment ASAP, and multiple test were completed to diagnose her. Within a week after going here, and being diagnosed she was looking and feeling extremely better. Both Dr. Goldstein and Dr. Ho, are both amazing and knowledgeable doctors! I appreciate the attention, and attentiveness that they show every time my dog comes in for her appointment. My dog is doing much better thanks to the care of both these doctors!
I came here to see their oncologist Kevin Finora. He was a wonderful, kind, and knowledgeable men. As was all of the staff. Though I may no longer need them they were a blessing when I needed them.
Dr. Andrea Donaldson was amazing. She took the time to communicate and made sure I understood what maybe involved with Henry’s tremors/seizures. She did so with empathy and compassion. When I was supposed to pick up Henry the following day they held on to him for longer as I had a medical emergency of my own. I would highly recommend this clinic to everyone with a companion they love as they have your pets best interest at heart. Amy the technician was amazing as well!
Amazing and considerate staff even with all the craziness of the pandemic
Great for our little dog bob
Our cat had basically given up and stopped moving or eating. Now he's on the road to recovery. So happy.
Very professional and compassionate. I hope to never have to use them again, but very glad they're available.
The one thing that I find we lack in Toronto is really good customer service. When you walk in this place you are confronted by miserable receptionists. They are the face of this establishment and when you are being charged crazy amounts of money to look after your loved one the least they could do is offer a friendly word or smile to ease the pain of the stress it is to bring in a sick pet. I can't stress enough how a smile and a friendly word from one person can make a difference in dealing with difficult situations. I think that this place could do well to replace their front staff as the rest of the team is amazing. That is the reason for this poor review.
They've been super helpful, kind, and reliable. We went to them as an emergency vet when our kitty broke her leg in the night, and it was pricey but that was to be expected as no vets are particularly cheap but of course emergency is going to be even more. We felt safe leaving our baby there overnight and having the surgery with them. I do recommend this vet, and if you're reading this and don't have pet insurance yet please for your own sanity get it.
The service at this clinic is incredible. Unfortunately I had to visit CTVRC too many times in the past few years as my furry babies were not well but the doctors and all the staff here really made it an easy and pleasant experience always showing care and compassion.
Tyson
They saved my cat ????????
Very cold and sterile atmosphere. Very different from our family vet.
I brought my kitten here to see the internal specialist! I could not be more happy and comfortable! From the first phone call with the reception to checking bean in, to the porter taking bean in and bringing him out! Just awesome! Then Dr. Pan being on the phone with me for 40 minutes discussing every detail of my kitten's health. Ruling out things, discussing the best course of action for his issue. She even let me talk about my concerns with a medical issue not even related and gave me the best way to handle that issue through this office! She calmed me with how thorough she was and how much she cared about my kitten. Then we received Bean back and he wasn't even as scared as he normally is with the regular vet! And we received his medication and they had his name and hearts on the bag! This little thing means the world to me! I'm so concerned for him and they treated him like their own! One happy fur-mama! Thank you so much! And look forward to the future with your clinic and Dr. Pan!
CTVRC saved my baby girl's life this week. My 10 month old puppy punctured my asthma inhaler and they worked tirelessly for 24 hours to save her. I wouldn't have her with me without them. They stayed in touch with me regularly through the day and night with updates and provided good clear explanations as to what was happening and what was being done to treat her. Hopefully we won't have to go into emergency vet again any time soon, but I would absolutely use them again if the need arose
Really impressed with they're service!
It’s 5:30am, I have two cats and they accidentally ate some of my Kit Kat bar. Google set me in a panic, so I decided to call to see if she visit. I spoke to Kim to asked me some pre-screening questions, which she consulted with her vet. She advise what to look for, how does it affect my cats and was transparent with costs if I had to go see them. It was very comforting and I appreciate her professionalism. The phone consult did cost me anything and I appreciated that but I will donate money in the clinic’s name to TCR. I appreciate the service.
Thank you to Dr. Donaldson, Dr. Ho and the team at CTVRC! We are so relieved to have our dog Bo back home, and appreciate all that you did to keep healthy during such a stressful time.
I took my dog here after hours for a minor issue that couldnt wait because i was leaving the next day. I was there for less than 2 hours which i think is pretty good. The receptionist was super friendly and kept me posted the whole time i was there. The vet and vet tech took great care of my dog. I immediately received pain medication and antibiotics. My dog was feeling better within 24 hrs. The cost was reasonable compared to my regular vet. Probably about 50-100 dollar difference so that was alright too. Kind of weird vibes here, could work on the aesthetic of the clinic but no complaints because my dog was properly diagnosed and taken care of. Thank you!!
I took my cat in as she was visibly distressed and exhibiting what seemed like asthma and wheezing. Dr. Rattray was on shift and quickly identified the foreign object that was causing her breathing difficulties. Dr. Rattray was very knowledgeable and it was amazing to see Bobo not scratch or bite her like she does with anyone or animal that goes near her that isn't family, like she did when we arrived with the receptionist. She was able to explain the required procedure and the cost breakdown. Bobo made a full recovery but still hates everyone that isn't her family and Dr. Rattray is now part of the "ok you can pet me" list. Dr. Lisa is obviously a pro and knows mind tricks to calm any animal down - she was confident and didn't even wear protective equipment after witnessing my cat scratch and bite her colleague! Unlike Cesar Milan i didn't notice any battle marks scars on her arms so its reassuring to know that she is a true professional in her industry who shares her patients desire to save every life that walks in that door.
The emergency service here is better than other clinics I went for my kitten. They clearly explain everything and let you know about every possible fees they may charge. Nice people. The only issue was, I waited too long not knowing how long would the treatment last.
I brought in my cat for heatstroke, after returning late from work one night to a really hot apt I’d recently moved to and hadn’t yet set up the a/c. My cat was panting heavily and vomited. I used a cool wet towel to bring down his temp and found this clinic nearby. He hates car rides and hyperventilates every time, and hisses during visits to the vet. The front staff was ok, but I had a bad experience with the vet, who seemed dismissive and asked if he’d eaten marijuana, which at first I took as a routine question. However, she wouldn’t let go of the idea he’d eaten some and questioned that he was anxious? I don't smoke at all, wasn’t around smokers nor had there been anyone in my home, so it wasn’t like she was smelling anything. I don’t know how she came to that conclusion without cause. She pushed for blood tests, etc, with a ridiculous price tag. It’s around midnight by this point, she hadn’t really given feedback concerning the heat stroke, and I had a strong feeling she was trying to take advantage. I declined the test, and luckily my cat was totally fine! Over the years going to my regular vet, my cat goes from a cuddler at home to hissing, and not once has my vet grilled me about it. They are very experienced and seem to take it in stride. I took him to my own vet years before, when he seemed sick from the heat and they checked him over and quickly determined he was ok and wasn’t dehydrated, etc. In contrast, I just felt the vet here was using whatever she could to justify unnecessary work. Although this visit wasn’t recent, I thought of this experience and decided to post after seeing other concerning reviews. I was really uncomfortable by the time I left, wouldn't use them again and do not recommend this place.
Don’t take your pet to this place if you love them. I’m sad to say but this place takes the easy way out and they charge you a ridiculous amount of money and take advantage of you during the worst possible time of your life. Thanks for letting us down DOCTOR HO!!! And also thanks for charging us $800 for joint tap on our dog when we said let’s focus on one problem at a time! And you went ahead and did it anyways!! She didn’t even have the balls to face us afterwards. SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!!
Very supportive and friendly staff. Helped my daughter and I through a hard time with having to put our pet down.
They helped our puppy when he had to have surgery. Seems understaffed here. The vets were very nice, but there's just something about this place that makes you feel like a dollar sign. Having to prepay 80% of the high estimate is just plain tacky. We had just paid $1300 the day before, but again we had to put another $500 down for the next day...
Busy place.
They are very kind understanding patient and helpful also hopefully for people just making ends
I received excellent service by the Doctor, night and some day staff that looked after my precious baby. What I didn't appreciate was how I was treated by the Receptionist. She didn't show any empathy during the process, all she was interesting in was collecting the funds and filling out forms.
In late 2017, early 2018 my dog Hayden was being treated at CTVRC. We saw Dr. Kruth, Dr. Ho, as well as Dr. Goldstein. I cannot speak highly enough about all three doctors, as well as the techs and other staff at the clinic. For the last months of Haydens life he was mainly under the care of Dr. Goldstein. Having a pet in and out of the hospital is a very stressful and scary time but this was made easier with the constant support of Dr. Goldstein. He has a way of explaining what can be complicated medical terms in ways that are very easy to understand so you know exactly what is going on. I very much appreciated always being offered several options as well as his input of what he would do if it was his own dog. Dr. Goldstein always made me feel as if Hayden was his own and I knew he always had his best interest at heart. He is an amazing and compassionate doctor. He always made himself available to answer any and all questions I had to help put my mind at ease in terms of decision making for Hayden’s care as well as worries I may have had along the way. I am so thankful and grateful to have had Dr Goldstein help care for Hayden and provide me with constant support during a very difficult time in my life.
Very friendly doctors. Took care of my dog with professionalism.
Pricey, but what high quality professional service isn't? Excellent care and great communication with pet owner.
Amazing service, friendly staff and honest doctors, they truly want to help your pets and affordable
I would like to forward a huge thank you to Dr. Kry and the entire staff of CTVRC. Our dear BonBon was referred to this clinic for a knee issue and had to undergo a surgery to fix it. Dr. Kry has both passion and knowledge. Would definitely recommend it to future patients. Thank you and stay safe!
The way they treat animals is disgusting.
I brought my sweet cat here this month for Emergency care at 1am. They admitted him and began assessment and care immediately. They gave me clear information about all the risks associated with his treatment as well as an estimated cost before proceeding. The technicians and Veterinarians that I interacted with over the 48 hours he was in care were all kind and willing to answer all my questions and concerns. I brought one question to the attention of management and received the most thoughtful response on behalf of the management and clinic owners. The clinic and its staff at each level has a high standard of care, sincerely cares about the animals, and also cares about the pet owners. I’ve had negative experiences with previous vet experiences (NOT here), and I am beyond happy with my cat’s care and with the way this clinic conducts its operations. I highly recommend them if you need a specialist referral (which I did 4 years ago) or emergency care like I did this month.
I hated the service there, first I was not allowed to enter the door even with a heavy dog in my arms, they said I needed to call so they would open the door. My dog was in a bad condition, they just shoved me a bunch of medications to sell all stuff and the day after that I had to go to another place to get exams and proper care, my dog had to go through surgery. I ended up not using any of the meds they forced on me, they said the don't accept returns, even though I didn't use one single pill! Don't recommend, it's not about care with your animal, for them it's about money!!!
Great place for emergencies. Great staff
Doctor was okay but staffs need to review sensitivity training for answering emergency calls and caring for the hospitalized pet. I know it's just a job for them but for me it was my child dying in front of me.
Great customer service and communication!
Great experience bringing my pup for surgery here. Dr. Plesman is just fantastic and clearly loves animals so much. All staff - receptionists, vet techs - were friendly and helpful over multiple visits and calls. Sometimes can be a bit of a wait because available rooms are limited but not as bad as the other emergency vet clinic in the city. Parking beside the clinic is a great bonus, though spots aren't always available.
I drove my puppy here for an emergency as he was bleeding. The first thing the person on the phone did was inform me of the emergency fee of 175$ and the took all our info. They came out and took him from me and said they would call! After more than 50 mins of waiting I called for an update and was told the vets were in a meeting and my puppy wasn’t even looked at. Worst place to bring your pet during an emergency!!!!
Our dog has been going through cancer treatment at this facility and we can't say enough good things about the staff here. They are the best of the best.
Almost $200 for a doctor consultation alone LOL. Literally overpaid google search bars work here. Just wait a day and get your pet a morphine OD at any vet. Or go to VEC near Rosedale if you seriously want to save your pet.
Attentive, caring and informative.
They were polite and professional. I didn't have to wait long. My dog was taken care of right away. The check up and x-rays were done quickly. They reviewed their findings with me which went very well. My dog is happy, healthy and she is enjoying her walks and being outdoors now. Parking is on the side streets. I believe there is limited parking around the corner.
I wish I could have Dr Riddle as our permanent vet. Unfortunately we had to put our cat down here but he was so compassionate understanding and patient with us. We really felt like our poor little guy was in good hands and he made us feel like we made the right decision.
Completely un professional and money hungry, tyson.
Took excellent care of my little guy. Was very happy to know he's in good hands❤
The best care in the City for our dog and for all the other animals we saw there. Staff, technicians and doctors are incomparably professional and compassionate human beings!!! CTVRC deserves 6/5 Stars ????
Very professional, helped us quickly, and made us feel comfortable. We made a couple trips in one night, and the transfer of history for our pet from one team to the next was seamless. The vets and techs are great. Thank you.
We were recommended to then for our dog by our vet and they were great with him... our specialist took all the time with us and even gave us personal calls on his own time to get updates from us. His surgery went good and his stitches healed beautifully.
Wonderful place they make dog owners and the dogs very comfortable when visiting.
Very compassionate and careing.
I visited Central Toronto Veterinary Referral Clinic last night and was blown away with how amazing everyone there was. The place was clean, the staff were friendly, and I felt like my dog was being given great care during an emergency situation. My little pooch is at home and comfortable now thanks to them. Can't recommend this place enough!
Very horrible experience. Went in with diarrhea and was misdiagnosed with parvo. Got the puppy tested the next day somewhere else and did not have parvo. Did snap test wrong! Upset 3 families. Went back today to complain to Michael Goldstein. Was not helpful and rude. We insisted for a full refund and got it. STAY AWAY FROM HERE !!! fyi - my puppy is perfectly fine
Take your pets elsewhere. They do not care about your pets health - turned my seizurong dog away without a second thought. Heartless.
This place is complete trash, the vets are just trying to milk you for every last dollar you have. Our cat had a bacterial infection in her Uterus and was really sick. The Vet kept saying she needs to be spayed that night or she would die. The kicker was is that a common procedure that would cost $600, was now $5000 at this clinic. She kept scaring us that our cat was going to die if we didnt do the procedure that night. We couldn't afford it so we took her to Bloor West Animal Hospital. They completed the treatment for $1000, including overnight treatment. This place will try to scam you for every last cent because they know you are scared and live you pets. That us cruel for a place that is supposed to proce compassionate care.
10/10 amazing people who really care about your animals here. The pricing is very high but that comes with being 24 hours I guess. Cannot reccomend enough if you have an unfortunate emergency. Great doctors, techs and the visiting room was very nice. Pumba is doing much better since we took her here. Again cannot reccomend high enough
Great staff
CTVRC Thank you for saving my furbaby! My dog is diabetic and became hypoglycemic...I didn't think she was going to make it:( I rushed her to CTVRC and they immediately took her in and were able to get things under control so I could bring her back home. The staff was amazing and took time to speak to me and give me updates...my pup was there for 48 hrs...that's a long time for a mama!! Thank You!
Always friendly
Gg
Endless money pit... ????
Very caring and compassionate.
This place is awful! I was referred from my vet and they charged me over a grand to tell me something I already knew. The appointment was supposed to be an hour and a half, I was waiting almost 5. They did things to my poor dog without even consulting me first. You think they would let you know before charging you an arm and a leg. They created problems that weren’t there in the first place, my dog has been sick for a week now since going there and they gave her an infection. She’s worse off then before they began. Very unprofessional and sad to see a place running like this. They don’t care about animals, they just want to take your money.
NEVER GO HERE IF YOU HAVE FINANCIAL ISSUES. My mother In law took her VERY LOVED exotic cat here for a urinary blockage. She was quoted $500 on the phone for the first appointment that she was more than willing to pay. She went and dropped the cat off. To then receive a call from the doctor stating that it was going to cost $3,700 for treatment and that he needed 100% payment upfront. She asked for a pay-plan as $4000 is not cheap and no one has that just in their pocket. He told her no. She then wanted to have her cat back to get a second opinion, which she was denied until her cat's treatment was done. What really gets to me is that how are they going to hold someones animal hostage instead of giving the animal back to go for a second opinion. This clinic then, REPORTED HER TO ANIMAL WELFARE, she was then forced to surrender her support animal that has gotten her through some very hard times. I do not believe that they have ANY right to deny a person their animal ESPECIALLY when no treatment was done. If there is ANYONE out there that knows how to deal with this situation or how she can get her cat back please let us know.
Dr. Goldstein and the staff went above and beyond and I can't say enough positive things about this clinic.
Pleasant and caring, they took my fur baby in when other clinics were completely booked on a long weekend.
I received great service for the pup I was dog sitting. Anyone who complains about the price of a vet, you shouldn’t own a pet. That is something people really need to think about prior to owning a pet. They tell you all the fees and ask if you’d like to go ahead before going forward. They do not force anything on you. I’m very very happy with the friendly staff and vet that saw Lucy. Thank you.
Exaggerated, Do what no need to do, Waste your money, Always warning your pet will die if no immediate treatment, No kind heart on pet, Not correct diagnostic, Inaccurate Update, Over charging and Wrong treatment time calculation, Completely Lying Not trustworthy, Will never come back Dr Kavonic, Dr Vozner and Dr Chan are all lying. The clinic overcharged me by doubling the consultation time and fee. The clinic never sent all the tests to the labs until I asked for the exam result. Therefore, I only got the complete report after one week my dog was discharged from the clinic. Because this clinic just loves your money and does nothing. Lying!!! Never keep the promise, Never refund all the overcharges. Terrible!!!
Great team. Long wait times depending on the time of day and influx of patients.
I came here after our cat passed away at home at 1am on Thanksgiving weekend, without knowing what I was supposed to do. Was helped with compassion and caring given the sad reason for visiting, very thankful to have had kind help that night - thank you!
Saved my cat's leg = happy owner. Costly but not crazy.
Excellent staff. Very friendly. Dr. Ho is great. We've had two cats see her and she's been very helpful with their issues.
This review is for Dr. Finora and his team. Our little Yorkie was diagnosed with cancer and to say the least we were devastated. We were referred to Dr Finora for our baby's treatment. Dr Finoras approach to pet owners is soft spoken and so reassuring. He answered all questions, even ones repeated due to our anxiety. he was reassuring and returned all our calls .He listens to our concerns. Bottom line we know our baby is in good hands and appreciate Dr. Finoras on going help. Yes vet bills can be on the high end but please realize their overhead and supplies are very high and they have special skills that required extensive education. Bottom line all we can say is THANK YOU DR FINORA!
I booked a surgical consultation for my dog with Dr. kry and was very disappointed with the outcome. She refused to answer certain questions as they "weren't covered in the consult fee" and to ask my regular vet. Why would I ask my regular vet when she is supposed to be the specialist? She was very blunt and I did not appreciate her tone or attitude with me. I came a long way out of town for this appointment and don't believe I was treated right. I will not be going through with the surgery here. This woman needs to learn some manners and patience.
The staff here were compassionate and professional and our service was prompt. It's always a tough situation but these guys really go the extra mile to make you feel better and do best by your pet.
Expensive but very good and knowledgeable
We lost our beautiful dog Rosie. They were very caring, thoughtful, and understanding. They took wonderful care of my Rosie, right up to the end.
I don’t know why this place has so many good reviews. The front staff are okay and helpful but there’s this one weird lady technician with very poorly put on fake eyelashes who was very rude and judgemental. Never again!
This hospital casually charges pet owners for the same projects. Pet owners are considered as cash machines.
Amazing care for your sick pet.
Our dog had to have knee surgery to correct a genetic issue. We had a consult with Dr.Kry. she was very thorough with her explanation of the issue. She took the time to explain the situation. When our dog went in they took great care of him. The technicians were great with our dog. Big thanks to the doctor and the team for their work.
Vets were good...reception slow
Saw my dog for 5 minutes before turning us away because we couldnt get a muzzle on (she was scared because we were not allowed in with her). Apparently it was the vet we spoke to on the phone, which is why it was 160 dollars plus tax. Can't believe they charge like that without actually seeing your dog! Went to my regular vet the following morning for a proper visit after having to explain why my dog wasn't triage'd the previous night at the vet we took her to. Ridiculous.
Carlo my cat was having growing tumors in his right ear, every day turning more ugly and uncomfortable for him. Dr Miriam Talaat was extremely attentive and figured out a solution in a short period of time. The surgery went smoothly, she is extremely skilled and experienced it seems. Oncology results were that even tough most of the tumors were benign, one of them started to become the bad type. Anyhow, problem solved. Staff attention and follow up is second to none. After visits to many Veterinarians (at least 5 clinics around Ontario) I found a great solution at ctvec. I am truly impressed and very grateful of what they did for Carlo.
Amazing customer service coupled with knowledgable staff. Our dog actually doesn't mind coming here!
Very poor understanding of what constitutes an emergency and how to respond to request for help. I do not want to be sent to Richmond Hill at 10:30 pm......
Horrible service!! Even though my dog’s medical care was done, they didn’t bring out my dog for an hour, saying that they are busy and there’s nobody to bring her out. Many people works in the vet, and I can see they are just talking to each other doing nothing. Staffs in the reception are super rude. Never ever coming here again
Your just a $$$ sign to them. No options for a person without unlimited cash flow.
Long story short: our kitty's heart was failing, and we had to put him to sleep. Every single staff was exceptionally considerate and gave him the dignified end of life that he deserved. Our kitty went into distress overnight. When I got up, he seemed critical, so I started calling vets to see who would see him. CTVRC said they would see him, so my husband and I rushed him over. After initial assessment, a vet brought us into a separate private room to share what the suspicions were, and said xrays were needed. We had to agree before anything was performed, and of course we did. They did xrays right away and on premise. Results were horrific for us, and we had to choose either to let him sleep or give him another two months but in pain. After breaking the news, the vet left us in a private room so my husband and I could cry in private and discuss what to do. We chose to euthanize, but our kitty was not stable enough to come to the private viewing room, so we had to enter the treatment area to see him off. There were quite a few staff there, and some animals were undergoing treatment. While we were in the treatment area, all the staff were very quiet, and only whispered to each other while working. The vet explained what to expect during the process, and gave us the chance to decide when to start. After our sweetheart passed, they let us stay with him for as long as we wanted to so we could mourn. Receptionists were also very professional and empathetic like the vet. They told us the company they use for cremation also offered memorial items, which was really nice to see. We were able to choose a framed paw print (for extra of course), which was really nice for us since we always talked about making a paw print, and never got around to it. Of course, it's very hard typing this out. I only wanted to write this review so that if anybody had to go through the horribly painful experience of losing a loved pet, you'd know you could get empathetic, quick, and respectful service here, and your precious little one could go with the dignity and care they deserve.
Yesterday night my dog, Monkey, had to be put to sleep here. We brought him in and the receptionist was so kind and understanding, and waited patiently for me to be able to talk when I was crying. The doctor was also kind, compassionate, and honest. The staff was just great. Because of them we handled the situation much better than we would have without their support and patience. We never felt rushed even though they were overwhelmed with patients that night. They even kindly explained to us what happens to our little guy afterwards and put those fears to rest. Price wise of course it was a little more than our regular vet, but honestly for a 24 hour emergency clinic it really wasn’t that bad in my opinion. Side note, for the short while we were there a lot of people were extremely rude both in person and over the phone. Please be kind to the staff, they’re doing their best and are only human. They go through a lot too.
They refused emergency service because my pet wasn't already a patient. The owner's response here is also patently untrue, since I was told that the clinic was not seeing "new patients" for emergency services (and I was very clear that this was an emergency) and was advised to call other clinics who might.
They came highly recommended by our local Vet in Niagara on the Lake. From the original diagnosis by Dr. Ho to the surgery performed by Dr. Plasma the service was exceptional . I was extremely impressed by the frequent contact to keep me informed on how our yorkie was doing after his surgery. I highly recommend them.
Money hungry vet clinic who doesn't really care about the animals. Tyson
Wonderful staff great service
Very professional, friendly and thorough
I have a 3 years old pomeranian that was diagnosed with pancreatitis last year and she had extremely bad attacks even on low fat diet and bland food. She also had a very sensitive stomach that even bland food cause her nausea and diarrhea. Dr.Michael Goldstein is extremely knowledgeable, he treated my little Pom that seems she has never been that ill.She eats very well, never has vomiting or upset stomach. Thank you Dr.Goldstein , you saved my little girl!
Dr Ho, and her team, were very kind, caring, empathetic and incredibly wonderful. Thanx for setting my Biscotti on one of the biggest snow storms of 2019. Blessings ????????
Second to none! My Beagle, Mr Bigglesworth was not doing so good and was extremely lazy and lethargic and I thought this was going to be the end. I was heartbroken because he had been my best friend for the past 7 years. The Doctors at the Central Toronto Veterinary Hospital were very kind, understanding and took my concerns seriously. I know I probably overacted as I do get a little emotional, but they reassured me that they would do the best they could to help Mr Bigglesworth. I don't know how they did it, but they performed a miracle and Mr Bigglesworth has found he can get around a lot better, he hasn't thrown up in two weeks now and he seems to be very happy. Thank you to the good staff and doctors helped Mr Bigglesworth! I am the happiest I have been in a long time and I know my dog is as well. Thank you Thank you
They have helped me with two dogs now. This is the first place I go when I need help.
This place is never overly busy so you don't have to wait long and the care is top notch! I love this clinic.
Took care of our mastiff several times, through a couple of surgeries. ALWAYS responsive, friendly, and caring. Highly recommend.
Visits starts at 155 plus HST. I called and spoke with Linda. I asked her for an estimate for x-ray fees. She said the dog would need to see the doctor first! I mentioned that my dog is throwing up BLOOD, I spent 300 yesterday for a blood test for him and today I am only interested in x ray/ radiology as I have little money. I am trying to borrow/ get more money but I wanted a ball park estimate. She said she doesn't know and they don't give estimates over the phone. I said please can you ask the doctor when they are free and call me back, she said no we don't do that. I said please can you ask the doctor to call me directly for just one minute. And she said no. STUPID MONEY HUNGRY A. HOLES. DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE.
In my experience this is the best clinic. I've taken my dog here many times over the years and always receive exceptional care. On top of that, the staff are trustworthy, patient and kind. They always treat the concerns for my dog with their best efforts, no matter what the acuity. I recommend them to every pet owner I know. I am so grateful for all of their care for my dog.
Expensive
Treated my dog very well. While i was waiting everyone was very happy with the treatment that their pet has seen. It is an emergency vet
We've visited twice in the course of about 3 months when our dog - an aging border collie -- accidentally took a stick in the throat when playing 'catch'. The first time, it was a bruise only -- rapidly diagnosed, efficiently treated with NSAIDS, and rapidly resolved. The second time, it was an esophageal tear -- diagnosed by the vet doing emergency cover on a long weekend based on clinical signs and a plain X-ray. A referral to OVC was made, where the diagnosis was confirmed, and our beloved pooch is now in surgery. A great experience from start to finish at CTV-EC, from the compassionate and efficient receptionist (Linda), to the kind and effective techs, and of course the DVM was an outstanding clinician. Highly recommended!
Good in person, do not return calls
So far, I have spoken to Dr. Ho, Dr. Finora, oncologist, and Dr. Plesman, surgeon. They are wonderful veterinarians. Every conversation I had with them were pleasant. They explain thoroughly to make sure I have clear understanding. All technicians and secretaries I have dealt with were also helpful and kind.
Dr Kry is great. 24 hour service. They listen when you call and don't just rush you in without need.
I am completely frustrated with this location. I've been here twice for two emergency situations. The first one was helpful and I appreciate that. My second time here, the new doctor on staff was nothing but inconsiderate. She made pouty faces during our review and pushed for xrays. Once the xrays were done, she pushed for further examination because the xrays she pushed for were inconclusive .I had to keep and continue trying to follow up for paperwork to submit to our insurance. I've never been dealt with so inappropriately until late. One star for the horrible communication and customs service. The receptionist have been quite friendly and understand .
Saved my little puppy Meeka's life with prompt and excellent care, due to chronic kidney disease. My family is forever grateful for what they have done.
A place where compassionate people are available 24/7
Thanks for trying to helping Cozy!!
Aside from the reason for going there, the service from the staff was perfect. They definitely helped us through the process of losing a pet whiles being compassionate and professional.
I was referred to CTVRC by my veterinarian, in regards to my Irish Wolfhound. It is quite a drive for me to get to CTVRC, as I do not live in Toronto - IT IS WELL WORTH the drive and time to look for parking!! Starting at reception - all the people I've dealt with since my fist visit June 27th have been friendly, caring, knowledgeable, quick to get answers to any of my questions, return calls quickly - GREAT team! Dr. Kristin Kry is very professional, caring and explains in detail, all aspects of procedures, outcomes, medications, etc. and does follow-up calls regarding test results promptly - EXCELLENT doctor! My wolfhound has recently been seen by Dr. Rhea Plesman - another very professional, knowledgeable, caring and detailed doctor. Dr. Kry's and Dr. Plesman's teams are very caring, professional and great at handling an extra-large dog! I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND these doctors, their teams and CTVRC. P.S.: Erica and Dr. Plesman - thank you for today!
3 things went wrong with them. First...when went in to make payment for the 80% balance that they recommended to put down, I inquired with the receptionist what is the total estimate of bill, she just said "well its 80% of what you're paying" instead of turning her head to the right to look at the computer to give me the estimate total expected. Secondly, when asked to have pictures of my loved one inside as we are unable to see/visit him during covid, the technicians/nurses made the choice for me instead and said "we don't think they want to see him like this." Therefore never received any pictures. That is for ME to decide, not them, as I already had said yes to have pictures emailed, I wanted pictures or a video of him. I know what to expect as he is IN there. Thirdly, when I went in to pay for the remainder of the bill as things turned for the worse for my little kitten, they took my payment right then and there but when I asked to see him before he was to be put down, I was told "I am not on the list to see him, they would need authorization from my bf" as he was the one who had brought him in initially. I'm sorry, you will take my money but you won't allow me to say goodbye to my little loved one???? Did you guys even ask if there was anyone else who should be "on this list" umm no my bf wasn't asked nor did he know he HAD to ask for that. Its all been a very bad experience from them, right from the receptionist who was lazy to turn her head, look at the computer to give me the total estimate as NO detailed bill was ever provided until the very end, to the technicians making the decision for me that I wouldn't want to see pictures of my little kitten, then to deny me to say goodbye even after making full bill payment until they spoke with my bf to give them authorization to see MY kitten. Its really disgusting the service they have provided. I definitely would NOT EVER recommend this place at all. The ONLY one good experience, was the one Dr who would call and give us updates on how he was doing, that is they only good thing from this place, was being updated on his condition.
We sadly had to put down 2 of our pets (ie. family members) in the last couple of years. Both times, second during the Corona virus protocols, the staff was courteous, empathetic and caring. Never had to wonder about their service (with a couple nearby veterinary places there's often a feel or question about motives and pricing).
Caring and thoughtful staff
Scam artists. Quote you one thing, charge you another. Will not return your animal to you if you want to bring them elsewhere for a second opinion.
Thank you to Dr. Finora and his amazing staff as well as the receptionists for all your help for the past 2 years!! I’ve been taking my baby girl Misty here for a while now and these people have become like family. ❤️
