We have been using the services offered at Yonge Street Animal Hospital for over 15 years. The staff are very competent, very friendly, compassionate, and accommodating. We have recommended them more than once, and the feed back has always been very positive! You have to try and see for yourself! Excellent work!
The staff is very friendly and professional. Everyone takes extra time to provide best professional advice and although prices are above average, it's worth it in every aspect. My pets at Yonge Street Animal Hospital are in best hands.
Good experience with YSAH although they are not my vet. I stopped in when they opened to pick up some food for my dog who was experiencing stomach issues and refusing to eat his regular kibble. Staff and vets at this clinic were very helpful with recommending a food for purchase and a vet also offered reassurance with some medical advice based on my dog’s situation. They are also very inclusive and welcoming of all individuals. Thank you for creating a welcoming space for all pet owners.
The care and kindness of Dr Belovich is above and beyond. Totally recommend this animal hospital.
We had cause to experience this clinic for the first time this past week , our 20 year old cat had taken a turn for the worse in very short order as such we needed to start looking into end of life services . We were originally looking into clinics in the neighborhood to lessen any additional stress for everyone so I started calling around ,, I was taken by how carrying and efficient they were at this clinic even arranging things for the day of
Amazing clinic and amazing staff! Dr Michel Belovich is beyond kind and he’s an truly Knowledgeable and caring person, he helped me a lot during the hardest time in my life! God bless him ❤️ Highly recommend this place.
I had to bring my baby, my sweet little bunny, Rose in on November 15th for her appointment to be put down. After almost ten years together it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. Dr Michael Belovich and his staff were nothing but amazing throughout the entire process. They were comforting when they broke the news to me earlier in the week and were patient and understanding when we came in for Rose’s final appointment. It even ran long (she was always such a stubborn little bunny, and even in her final moments she refused to go to sleep and it took over an hour) and no one seemed frustrated or irritated at all that they had to stay late so I could be with Rose in her final moments. It was a heartbreaking night, but I’m so glad we were here for it. Everyone was so kind and sympathetic that it made the experience easier for me. I even got a card in the mail from Dr Belovich, which I thought was the sweetest thing. I very much recommend this office, Dr Belovich and his and staff. Rose always liked you guys, she always got so many compliments from the staff about how cute she was when she came in for her checkups and to get her nails done. Thank you for everything. You made a horrible night a lot more bearable
More than happy with the amazing service provided here. Highly professional team, very kind, responsible and serious.
Great staff
Our Westie Jed has been treated by the amazing staff at the Yonge Street Animal Hospital since he was a puppy. The vets and the staff are unformly friendly, knowledgable and a pleasure to deal with. We are so lucky to have them in our neighbourhood!
My 5 month old silver lab was scared of a dogfight going on at Sherwood Park and she ran away. A dog lover rescued her on Yonge Street and handed her over to Yonge St Animal Hospital. The ladies there were very kind and nice to my puppy. They took care of her until I got there. Thank you so very much ladies you are wonderful.
One of the best and reliable places to take care of your pet. Maggie loves this place and especially Tharsis who is extremely knowledgeable and provides her and us with great customer service going above and beyond. ???? ????
This place was great. I had an emergency with my cat, and had called the first vet hospital that came up on google for me, which was Yonge Street Animal Hospital. I called pretty hysterical unsure what to do, they told me to bring him in right away and they would look at him. They took him as soon as i arrived, examined him and explained everything they were doing, and made sure i understood the after care. Not only were they great with my cat, they were great with me considering how hysterical i was when i arrived. Their costs seemed pretty standard to me. I was happy with their service.
Visiting Toronto from the US, and my cat needed surgery. I honestly canNOT say enough great things about Dr Belovich & staff. I’ve had horrible experiences with other vets, botched surgeries, no pain meds after surgery, telling me my cat was a pain...etc. Dr Belovich and his staff have shown nothing but patience, love, and the utmost respect for me and my cat. They made me feel at ease, despite crying when I dropped him off for surgery. The staff gave us updates every step of the way. There wasn’t a time I didn’t not know what was going on with my little baby. I can honestly say they love your babies just as much as you do. When I move to Toronto permanently, I WILL keep Ezra here no matter how far the drive.
I brought my 10 month old puppy into the clinic today and had an amazing experience. Her old vet left the practice where we took her to before so we thought we would try Yonge Street Animal Hospital! I am beyond happy we did! From the initial phone call to set up her appointment all the way through to picking up my pup was amazing. The service and communication was exceptional, especially with the added challenges of navigating Covid-19. I would highly recommend them as my usually anxious puppy came out super happy and clearly felt comfortable. As well we walked away with so much information and a great solution for her upset stomach. Thank you for your kindness!
Dr. Greenhalgh is simply the best. I wouldn’t trust anyone else to take care of my dog- she has many years of experience, plus a lot of love for what she does. Rare find!
Very friendly doctor, very gentle to my dog, thank them for their care.
We took our cats here for a few years since the location was convenient to us and were generally happy with the service, but decided to switch vets after realizing how overpriced everything was compared to other vets in the city. The breaking point was when we were charged nearly $600 for a variety of tests to determine a problem our cat's eye (that ended up being nothing). We have since switched to the Bathurst-Dupont Animal Hospital, it is far less convenient but their service and prices puts the Yonge Street Animal Hospital to shame. I would highly recommend shopping around before settling here, you can save a lot of money for the same quality of service.
Very good and knowledgeable doctors. The nurses and staff are very nice. They give you a great package as well when you first visit with good book recommendations, i have read a few in using ceaser Milan, and they offer was by far the best. They don't sell it they just recommend you go to chapters. Great service and a fairly well equipped office, i was skeptical too at first due to the old building, but the talent inside is far better than the view from the outside. Great people highly recommend them :)
I took my kitten who was had diarrhea to this place, instead of any treatment about it they just gave him deworm although he had his first deworm a week before that, he was totally fine before that and just after bringing him home, he got worst. I took him again to the hospital the next day and the condition continued. Unfortunately he died 2 the next day, and I'm worry about every pet who goes to this place
I just got back from having my new Presa Canario Mastiff pup named Carter attended to by Dr.Lisa Crozier. It was time to find a Veterinarian that was local and that I would be comfortable with. After searching on the Internet I had called a Veterinarian that was closer however they could not squeeze me in as they were booked. I called Yonge Street Animal Hospital and the receptionist told me what I wanted to hear " come now" I did and am thankful for this as Ali the assistant was very kind and respectful dealing with all the preliminaries. Dr. Crozier then stepped in and I agreed to her suggestions and carried through with what I would call a seamless experience. These folks give me the impression of real people that operate with sincere integrity and a genuine concern for me and my pup. I felt comfortable with Dr. Crozier's inquiries as she appeared to be well educated on the characteristics of my puppy's breed. I sincerely hope I left her with a good impression and I think my pup's behavior through the whole exercise put her mind at ease. I have a lot of literature to read and must say these folks went above board and beyond the call of duty. I left pleased and will be bringing my cat next Monday to be checked over by Dr. Crozier . Thank-you Ali, Dr. Crozier and the new receptionist, my puppy and I are most grateful and you deserve our loyalty.
Called for an "emergency" at 9 am on a Monday and was given an appointment immediately. Dr. Belovich gave my dachshund a thorough examination and blood tests on the spot and reassurance that it was not as serious as thought. Dog and owner now much relieved and recovering well. Many thanks to Dr. Belovich and the great staff at the Yonge St. animal hospital.
We adopted our cat from here two years ago but we still like to come here as his primary vet even though it is a bit out of the way for us. We recently had a health scare with our kitty and even though they were fully booked up for the day, they were able to squeeze him in and get checked out immediately! We were quickly referred to the emergency clinic since he needed an ultrasound and they were quick to transfer over his exam and xrays so we could sort this out. The next day Dr Belovich called us to check in and personally see how everything was for our cat. You can tell they actually care about their patients! Everyone I've experienced at this vet are extremely pleasant to talk to, patient and very understanding
I've called about a week ago and spoke to Dr. Michael is memory serves correct and he was extremely knowledgable and helpful. I moved to the area a few months ago and my dog recently had an injury in which case I took him to the old vet but unfortunately the gentleman (vet), has a very thick accent and I was not able to understand him due to the language barrier and now that I am closer to this clinic I asked to be seen and to have his xrays looked at and to basically have their opinion. They called me back said that they could accommodate us for 10:30 only to receive another call to say that I cannot be accommodated. Why?
My partner and I take our dog, Riley, there for both his medical/clinical needs and for his grooming. My partner and I like the service, but more importantly, Riley loves it.Ali, their Groomer, treats Riley like her own and Dr. Belovich is more than responsive both during clinic visits and follow ups by phone and email.
I have now had three cats and they have all been patients of YSAH = we even adopted our current fur-baby from them - he was one of the many rescues they have saved (among other great compassionate work they do including the Farley Project). All of their staff are compassionate, friendly and accommodative. You may find a less expensive place, but never one as overall good!
My lab just had a reaction to something and started swelling up in the lips and eyes - I gave her some Benadryl and called this clinic - even though it was after hours the vet (I didn't catch his name - sorry) told me I gave the correct dosage and to watch my pooch and gave me instructions on if things went worse on where to go (address and all). He was so nice, patient and comforting. Stella is doing better (within the 20 min you recommended) and is sleeping in her bed soundly. Thank you for your help and patience. :)
Hi, I just wanted to give a huge shout out to Madison. I came to them as my cat had discolouration on his one nail. I was literally balling my eyes out. They immediately asked me to send them a picture so that they could examine what was going on and act accordingly. I was scared as this was my first time dealing with this issue and she was so kind and caring - she gave me a call back and told me what the technician had advised. ALL for no cost at all. Needless to say, if I end up needing a vet tech, I will be coming to this one. Thank you Madison + all the staff for being so caring and empathetic during these hard times. Know that your efforts stretch a long way and I will be referring any of my cat mom friends to you! Cheers!
Beware. Agreed on a $80 service and got a $580 bill at the end. Stated that they couldn't reach me so went ahead with additional services without authorization. I would have taken my dog to his regular vet for another opinion and more reasonably priced services. I gave my credit card when I dropped off my dog and they authorized the charge. Never had this problem with any vet or vendor before. Disputed the transaction but Amex said they couldn't help without seeing proof $80 in writing. Avoid or at least get the agreed upon amount upfront in writing.
Amazing clinic and staff! They're all so friendly and provide an excellent service???? Shout out to Madison, she's so nice and it helps with any question you might have. Had a great experience with my Russian dwarf hamster????thank you!
We are visiting from the States and had an emergency this morning with our dog's eye. I called them, they said to bring her in and they were very helpful, thorough, pleasant and you could really tell they love what they do. Thanks to the staff, doctors, technicians, front desk for being so warm and welcoming!
Very patient and knowledgeable staff. They are friendly, but honest. They do not push anything on you, but give all the options. I have high maintenance breeds and they have always made me feel comfortable with their service. Thanks for your help!
Loved the place and the attention. The staff was amazing and great service. Was the first and only place we went with our dogs and there is nothing bad to say about them. Because of the pandemic they are taking serious precautions. They are very responsive and you feel that they really care about the dogs. You will find several other products like food, medicine etc.
I had a situation where I had brought my two cats for regular check ups separately, and a vaccine shot was missed for one of them. After some back and forth with the clinic, they offered to not only cover the cost of the vaccine, but they also covered the cost of the mandatory check up (they can't give the vaccine with doing a check up again). I was very appreciative--it's a sign of great customer service--but the real reason for my 5 star rating is what I experienced when I was waiting for my cat. I opted to wait in the clinic at the front as I was the only one there, and while I waited I couldn't help but eavesdrop on the staff. They chatted pleasantly with one another, very positive and uplifting of each other, but the real message that came across was their passionate love of animals. They discussed some of their animal patients (no identifying details) and their own animals, and every comment was with complete adoration! I have to comment on this as staff at many public places--restaurants, stores, etc.--speak (yell, vent, etc) to each other like they forget the customers are there. I'm sure the conversation here was entirely sincere and had nothing to do with my presence, but the fact that the staff were so evidently enjoying each other's company, were respectful of one another, respectful of their patients, and clearly absolutely adore admirals, THAT is what this 5 star rating is for because THOSE are the people I want taking care of my fur babies :)
We brought Rocky, our senior dog (Labrador Retriever) from India to Toronto in 2014. Rocky used to be a very nervous dog- especially at Vet hospitals. Right from the outset- Dr.Belovich and his wonderful team (that includes everybody from the front office to the attenders and groomers) at Yonge Street Animal Hospital took extra care to keep things less stressful for Rocky. The first few times- they helped us bring Rocky inside via the back entrance so that he would not be stressed out. There were many instances of extra care and empathy that the entire team displayed. Rocky over time had gotten used to the hospital that vet visits were no longer stressful for him. When we moved 45 kms away to West Mississauga- we made the conscious decision to not switch vets because we were sure we would not find anybody with this level of care. The last few months had been stressful with Rocky battling a serious illness- but Dr.Belovich had gone above and beyond what was asked from him by checking on Rocky after hours, and even answering my calls/texts after hours. Unfortunately, Rocky passed away last weekend- but i can confidently state that he was with us for this long thanks to Dr.Belovich. Rocky was truly lucky to have had him as his vet. I would recommend YSAH to anybody living in midtown (or even 45 kms away like us for that matter
This is an amazing Animal hospital and they have the best team. Dr. Greenhalgh is a great vet, very professional, knowledgeable, kind and helpful. The Vet techs and front desk staff are also amazing and caring. Thank you so much for taking care of my dog!
Highly recommend! We brought our cat Frida here on Monday morning and we had a perfect customer service. Their employees are amazing, they really care about your pet. Tharsis, Dr. Crozier, Danielle, Ali and Deanna were very kind and made us very comfortable during the visit. Thank you all!
I took my dog here a couple of years ago because he had diarrhea that wouldn't resolve and was astounded at how unethical Dr. Belovich is. He did not communicate everything he was going to do to examine my dog, particularly an unnecessary x-ray that ended up costing me over $300. My dog showed no signs of abdominal blockage and the x-ray was just a cash grab. I ended up being charged $550 in total for a half-hour visit that included procedures I did not consent to. Completely took advantage of me and reading reviews of this place, I see I am not the only one with that experience. Don't take your pets here.
I would love to have another pet so I can take it to the YSAH. My baby girl, my everything went over the rainbow this morning and all I have to say is thank you! Thank you all so much for helping her towards the end, for being so caring and compassionate, for the hugs and kind words. Their vets are amazing and very professional; prices are fair. Shout out to the ones that examined my dog: to Dr. Michael Belovich, Dr. Lisa Crozier, Dr. Ana Greenhalgh, Vet Tech Ali and the adorable receptionists Rowan and Angelica, I would never forget all you did for us!! With love, Christiane and Nena ❤️
They looked after our guinea pig when other vets couldn't after she broke her leg. Very, very happy with the quality of the service and friendliness and helpfulness of all staff. When our guinea pig's splint fell off, the doctor let us stop by after hours to fix it. Our guinea pig's leg is healed and she's happy again. Highly recommended.
First time took my dog there. Recommended by the google reviews. The service there is good. Staff are very friendly and professional - they knew how to calm down my dog and make her cooperative. One thing though: expensive.
BEWARE!!!! WORST experience of my life. Most unethical business ever. Did NOT help and was charged over $1000 for simple constipation (my cat did not use the bathroom at ALL during her day and night there). I paid about 300 when I brought my cat, and got a call the next day saying I could pick her up and the total was $1000. I asked if they had payment plan options. I was told yes over the phone and to discuss when I arrived. When I arrived they said payment plans are not an option there, I asked who I talked to on the phone and they wouldn't tell me. They said if I don't pay the balance right away (around 6pm) they WOULD NOT GIVE ME MY CAT! On top of that they said they would charge overnight fees until I pay! I didn't refuse to pay, I just asked about payment options. I had to bring my cat to another hospital right away because she had not been helped and they treated her within 2 hours for around 250, including check-up, xrays, enema, manual extraction, and medication. The $1000 was for check up, tests that weren't needed and overnight fee (not needed at all), they did not even give my cat an enema and didn't actually help in any way - all they did were tests - they didn't even give medication, I was told to buy human laxative and give a portion (if they recommend you do the same, DON'T!! Take your animal somewhere they actually want to help them). Knowing what I know now, I would have forcibly taken my cat, not paid a penny more than I already had, and sue them for what they did (and didn't do).
I know how a bad review can affect people's perception of a place, so I wanted to share my own experience with the Yonge Street Animal Hospital. I don't have pet insurance, and cost is always a concern, so this is something I look for in a vet. I've had some outrageous bills in the past and I am much more careful now about researching costs. I am comparing them with Secord Animal Hospital, which is nearby. I went to Secord many years ago and had a positive experience. The exam cost at Yonge Street Animal Hospital is around $5 more than Secord. Not a significant difference in my opinion. Yonge Street Animal Hospital got me in within an hour to look at my dog's paw, which appeared injured. Secord was not able to get me in until the next day. The staff at Yonge Street Animal Hospital were friendly and courteous both on the phone and in person. I found the person at Secord who I spoke to on the phone a few times to be rather abrupt and blunt. Definitely not someone I would want to deal with if I was upset. The people at Yonge Street Animal Hospital were just more relaxed and friendly. Perhaps the most surprising thing was after having my dog looked at, I got quoted a price to test a couple of lumps she has under her skin. I told the vet at Yonge Street Animal Hospital that I would look at other prices before committing. I phoned Secord and was stunned to find out that the cost was almost $200 more at Secord than at Yonge Street. I questioned her carefully to make sure we were talking about the same procedure, and she insisted that the high cost was due to the lab charges and not to themselves. However, Yonge Street Animal Hospital didn't have these outrageous lab costs, so you have to wonder about that. Even the receptionist at Yonge Street was surprised at the difference when I told her what I was quoted. I can't compare current vets, but I can say that my experience with the vet at Yonge Street Animal Hospital was as positive as the one at Secord had been many years ago. She was not pushy at all, even for the vaccinations which I was behind on. She left all the decisions up to me. I really appreciated that, since my funds are very tight. She could have been judgemental, but she wasn't. She spent a long time with me and answered all my questions. For the follow-up appointment to check my dog's paw, I asked about cost. If she has to do nothing I will not be charged at all, and if she has to do something the fee will be 3/4 of a normal visit. I think that's very reasonable, especially after some of the vets I've been to in the past. Hopefully this is helpful to people whose budgets are very tight. I am very happy with my experience there.
Met up with Dr. Belovich a year ago when we moved back to the city. We have found him to be a very knowledgeable, professional and caring vet to our dog. He is available for quick questions and will go out of his way to help when he can. The staff are great and efficient and we thoroughly enjoy our visits and trust their care.
The staff here are the nicest people. When I first called to make an appointment for our new puppy they were so unbelievably welcoming and excited for us. When we drop our puppy off they all treat him like he is their own. Everyone holds him and gives him so much attention. I completely trust all the staff there and would highly recommend. Jess was also great with our puppies’ first time being groomed. He hated the blow dryer before he went and came out fine with it !! Can’t say enough great things about them!
We are very grateful for Yonge Street Animal Hospital’s partnership. Over the past couple of years, Yonge Street Animal Hospital generosity has enabled our participants' pets to receive the best possible veterinary care. Thank you to Dr. Belovich and his team for caring and being a vital part of the work we do each and every day. We are grateful to have supporters like the Yonge Street Animal Hospital team who compassionately understand the importance a pet plays in the emotional health and wellbeing of our participants. Thank you for all you do and keep up the amazing work!
This place is totally a rip off. I wouldn’t recommend it at all!
I love this place, and the people that work here soooo friendly. Shout out to Jess she's the best. Thanks Again, my dog is supper happy too.
Our dog is utterly terrified of having her nails clipped. A few months ago she ripped a nail completely off... since then my husband and I can't get near them, and previous grooming attempts at big box stores have only traumatized her further. We were getting desperate to find someone to trim her nails before she rips one off again. When I called Yonge Street Animal Hospital, they were immediately reassuring and confident that they could handle her - and handle her they did! They were friendly, professional, confident, and quick - and our big scaredy-dog didn't make a peep. We are so grateful to have found this place and its wonderful staff!
I've been a client of Yonge Street Animal Hospital for a number of years, and have come to rely on the excellent care they provide. Dr. Belovich is a compassionate and pragmatic vet, and has staffed the clinic with a wonderful and helpful team, from the friendly front desk to the awesome vet techs. Even the tough end-of-life decisions (that every pet owner dreads) have been made easier with their support. Simply the best health care I can offer my pets!
I had trouble finding a vet that dealt with small animals. I took my fancy rat in on a Saturday and Dr. Belovich and his team treated my ratty with love and had knowledge on what to do to treat her illness, as well as general tips. I left feeling good about the experience with antibiotics and a happy ratty!
So I would like to thank them all because they are super nice and welcoming. My kitten and I felt so comfortable with them today because they were super professional and friendly. The doctor is amazing. They did their job in a really professional way. Highly recommend this place. Thank you ❤️
Fantastic service, friendly staff, I trust them with my pets who are my children. Dr Crozier is the best. Front desk staff are friendly and prompt.
He's a thief. Expensive. He did a house call and had a nerve to lie and charge 30.00 for parking when there was free parking everywhere around my place. He was never actually interested in helping my pet. Just the money. Complained that he had to answer too many questions and charged more because of that. Went to another vet where he was actually caring and did not even charge me for answering my questions. He understood I had many questions and took at least an hour to answer them and did it happily and did not charge extra. my pets exam there was much cheaper than Yonge St Animal hospital and actually did it in a caring manner. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SCAMMED.
I've been a client of Yonge St Animal Hospital for 5 years (since 2009) with a cat and now a dog. I recommend them highly. The doctors give sound advice and are skilled (see the surgery comments below), the staff is helpful, friendly and love animals, and the prices are reasonable and I found them a bit cheaper than other nearby clinics. My cat had a terrible gash on her front limb with the flesh hanging open and had to have surgery; her paw healed well without any signs of a bad injury. My dog was neutered there and his stitches hardly bothered him and he was running the next day (even though he was supposed to be kept quiet). He was a puppy from a shelter with a couple of issues at first -- parasites, dry skin, sensitive digestion -- which they readily addressed, and both doctors made suggestions for training him based on his breed. He has grown to be healthy, handsome and with good behaviour. My neighbour has a new puppy and decided to take him there, too.
I took my dog for the first time to this hospital everything went great or do I thought. After a few days I’ve realized they had given the wrong dose of medication to My dog. They didn’t want to accommodate the delivery tho it was their fault. I was actually surprised to hear from Jessica the supervisor that they knew I was given 15 ml instead of 25 ml. I mean if you already know you don’t have anymore medication you can just tell the customer. I would have understood. She mentioned she is already accommodating the fee of the medication which I paid already and was not my fault I was given the wrong dose. In the future they should be more careful with these things it’s not that you gave me the wrong color T-shirt. We are talking about a living thing and to not have access to accommodate something that is not even imposible to accommodate us not ok when you are trying to provide the amazing Customer service you advertised. I will definitely look for another clinic after this. Hopefully the staff is more careful with future issues next time !
They take care of my dog and cats, always great service with alot of compassion. Fast and versatile staff but you never feel rushed. I would not take my pets anywhere else.
I took my hamster here a while ago, and it was a negative experience for both of us. The vet did not know how to hold him still (he wasn't trying to bite, just to run away because he was scared). It took 3 staff plus myself to hold one hamster. The vet had to google what type of hamster he is, a very basic fact for anyone who knows about hamsters. They told me what the exam would cost, then threw in hidden fees that increased my total by over $55. He was able to give me some helpful information about what bedding is best to use, but the information on food was only partially accurate. As a more experienced owner, I'm now bringing my hamster to a vet again, but it will not be to this vet.
Our beloved Chinese Dwarf hamster Nibbles was really not well, and my friend recommended Yonge Street Animal Hospital for his care. Dr. Belovich and his staff were kind and understanding and got us in that morning. Nibbles ended up going to heaven, but my daughters and I were so glad that he had the best care possible at Yonge St. Animal Hospital. Thank you Dr. Belovich and staff!
Ridiculous. They just think about the money that they will make. Terrible. Would give 0 stars if it was possible
We took our Shih Tzu Coco to Yonge Street Animal Hospital because she needed teeth cleaning and to remove & biopsy some cysts on her skin. The whole experience was alarming. Lisa Crozier, I will, not dignify her by using the term Dr., asked when we left Coco there for the operation for carte blanche to pull any teeth she felt had problems. We refused and told her to call us when she was sure what she found. During the operation she called us four times to try and convince us to let her pull 6 of Coco’s teeth. It was between 2nd & 3rd stage plaque. Which she said said was not much. I have two friends who are vets in the USA one with over 30 years experience. I called him immediately for a second opinion. He told us not to remove the teeth and why. We called back Lisa Crozier who argued with us but we refused to let her remove 6 teeth. A few hours later we went to pick up Coco after she came round out of the anesthetic. We found overall Dr. Lisa Crozier has the personality of a toad. 10 days later we brought her back to have her stitches removed. Dr. Belovich started removing them and said some were too tight. He tore Coco’s skin because they were so tight leaving scars. My wife kept removing bits of stitch for a month after. Simply put Lisa Crozier made the stitches too tight and Belovich did not remove them properly. They healed but left Coco scarred. They also overcharged us for an antibiotic and proscribed its usage incorrectly. Their estimated bill beforehand was $ 1,500 but they presented us with a final bill for $ 1,838.07. Everything they did was external and could not present any surprises, which Belovich agreed with that increase was inexplicable. I discussed this with him and he gave us a refund for $ 200 and then pulled fast one by keeping the remaining unneeded antibiotics. The whole experience was that of dealing with third rate veterinarians and two second opinions basically confirmed what I felt - they were only in it for the money. Overall one of the worse vets I have ever dealt with. Not totally incompetent but they certainly take advantage of you to extract every penny they can. Playing on your emotions and concern for your pet and lack of knowledge of medicine. Coco 10 days after her operation and 6 months later is still happily using her supposedly bad teeth that pain her to pull heavy wool rugs across the room, squeeze her squeaky balls and carries a hard rubber ball to the park every day. I would describe Yonge Street Animal Hospital as poor vets but excellent manipulators at extracting money from their clients. Maxim
Super friendly staff. They really care about my dog. I feel very welcome every time I go in. Many people of the staff also speak Portuguese!
I came here to get my 16 week old puppy vaccinated since the clinic had good reviews and was located a few minutes away from my apartment. Unfortunately my experience with Yonge Street Animal Hospital was less than positive as my puppy came away from them mildly traumatized and was wrongly diagnosed. I arrived in the clinic about 20 minutes early for my appointment after walking my dog for over 90 minutes since the clinic required a stool sample and I wanted to make sure he had time to relieve himself before he was examined. My puppy did not relieve himself however so as the time approached for his appointment I brought him to the entrance of the clinic and notified the staff of my arrival. A staff member came outside the door to greet me and I was given a Covid-screening form to fill out requiring my contact information. The form asked where I would be for the duration of the examination since Yonge Street Animal Hospital wasn't allowing guests to be in the examination room with their pets due to Covid protocols, however on both their screening form and website it was indicated that waiting in the reception area was a valid option and so I ticked that box as my choice. When the staff member came outside to get my form and bring my dog inside however, I was not allowed inside in the reception area and was kept outside (the temperature that day was nearly -20 degrees). I chose to wait nearby the clinic by browsing some stores in the area and told as much to the clinic staff in case they needed to reach me. I was called shortly after by the staff since they had forgotten to get my dog's passport and health documentation from me before and they also told me that my dog was being nervous, shy and had also made an accident in their facility. After going to the clinic again to give them the documents and waiting for about 25 minutes, the veterinarian who was examining my dog, Lisa Crozier, called my number to tell me that he had exhibited some aggression during the exam such as barking and growling and that they had muzzled him as a result. My dog is quite well-socialized, has gone to training classes and is very friendly and warm to everyone so I was unhappy to hear that he was muzzled and surprised that the clinic showed little sympathy since a dog is obviously going to be acting abnormally in a clinical setting especially without their owners. Lisa questioned me about his behavior in daily life, gave me some training advice and commented that aggression is "typical for the breed" since my dog is half Chow Chow. She also said that while my puppy was healthy, he seemed to have a retained testicle and indicated that while it could still possibly descend in the future if it did not, it would pose a great health risk to him and suggested I should get him fixed. I was unhappy with my experience so far but hearing that my dog should get fixed at 16 weeks, even as a suggestion really displeased me since even I know that it is extremely detrimental for their physical development before they reach maturity (at least about 1 year old for large breed dogs). Lisa also did not mention whether she did an ultrasound to confirm her diagnosis or whether it was just purely from a quick physical inspection. It was very disheartening to hear that my young puppy could potentially have a serious health issue already. After picking up my puppy and paying for the appointment ($319!), I noticed that my puppy's behavior the rest of the day was abnormal. He was uncomfortable with being picked up or handled, growling at me and baring his teeth. He hid in the corner and was shaking a little, showing obvious signs of distress and discomfort. I have never seen him act this way and it was quite clearly a result of his experience in the clinic. I have since gone to another clinic that allowed me to stay with my dog during the appointment (Kafai Veterinary Hospital) where my experience was overwhelmingly positive, my dog was happy and relaxed and the vet there confirmed that my dog does not have a retained testicle or any other health issues.
I would be careful. I had a dog assessed here, and had documents sent to the vet to help with the assessment. the vet kept reiterating that what she had read of the previous vets assessment she seconded. The problem was she kept repeating that the previous vet had claimed there was abdominal pain, when the vet had not claimed such a thing. She repeated that claim twice, and I had to show her it was incorrect. Its hard to take any assessment seriously, when she either couldn't read the document she was given or couldn't bother to read it. I'm stuck with a bill, but I would say it was pretty clear the vet didn't do her job.
