They even called me today to enquire about how my new puppy felt after having her shots and de-worming yesterday. I have never had this quality of service from any other veterinary practice in the past 37 years. I drove up from Toronto to this clinic and it was worth the drive! <3

This veterinarian hospital is a joke. I made an appointment for my dog, went there five minutes before only to be told to wait. I waited for one hour outside in the cold. I went inside to ask why it's taking so long, they told me they were busy but would call me as soon as they could. I waited another hour, only for them to turn off the lights and close. I have never seen a veterinarian hospital more unprofessional than this one. And it's not the first time either. Even with an appointment the wait times are ridiculous no matter what. I do not recommend this place at all.

We had not dealt with them in the past but will use them as our regular for moving forward. A personally written condolence card a few days later with some of our dogs hair, sealed the deal.

The experience we have had with Dr. Potter, Lorie and the rest of the team at Newmarket Animal Hospital cannot be described in words. To say they are amazing is an understatement. We stumbled upon them as we were looking for a new vet and walking into their location was the best thing ever. We recently had to go through trying to help one of our older cats that already had some existing health issues. They went above and beyond to try and help and were very supportive along the way. If you want the best care for your pets, this is the vet clinic of choice. To everyone at Newmarket Animal Hospital-thank you. Amazing staff here at Newmarket Animal Hopsital. They always accommodate Thor our american bulldog and they are so gentle and kind...my dog has no anxiety when visiting here and we know hes in amazing hands. Hes a big guy..and can be intimidating but we never once had an issue with this location. They do need to address with some clients to keep thier dog leashed from the vehicle to the vet and up until they return to their vehicle. A dog ran up to our dog in a very excited manner which made us all feel very nervous..and almost resulted in a dog fight had my son not been present it would have likely resulted. Some older dogs do not take well to.excited pups..and this can be dangerous. Keep your dog leashed in this plaza.

Have been boarding my dogs here since 2009 off a suggestion from another pet parent! They took great care of our 1st Fur Baby, Brayden until she passed away in 2015 of old age. She was always excited to see the vet and staff because they loved on her greatly! She never had an issue being boarded while we were visiting family in the States and she came home always happy and healthy! They even helped with assisting training for our newest puppy Jake! Blessed to have had them recommended!

I brought my dog April in on Saturday and the experience was awful. My appointment was for 1pm.. I was early and called to say I had arrived (as per the sign on the front door). I wasn't seen until after 2pm. Other people who arrived after I did were taken in before me. I think they forgot about us, because a receptionist came to the parking lot shouting my dog's name. The room was dirty. There was a puddle of urine on the floor and bloody, extracted stitches that had been removed from a previous animal were on the table. Extremely unsanitary and unsafe. The vet Dr. Potter was not good with my dog at all. She was terrified and is still traumatized, 3 days later. He also was not able to answer any of my questions and concerns regarding my dog's food and allergies. The young man receptionist was very rude. He tried to sell me a box of Flea and Tick treatment that would be expired before it finished, saying "It's fine, it probably doesn't really expire". That was unfortunately my second and last time ever going to that clinic.

They take great care of pets. I took my 1 year old husky to them after our original vet couldn't figure out what was causing his constant vomiting and illness. It took them 3 days to get him back on his feet. They are always genuinely interested in how you pets are doing.

WORST VET HORRIBLE SERVICE AND VERY RUDE STAFF!! I would give NEGATIVE STARS if I could. I took my puppy here last week because she fractured her leg and I was told by the lady (I believe she was the assistant to the doctor) that their service for a splint would be no more than $100-$150. When I took my puppy to get the splint, after the doctor put it on my puppy they told me it would be $350. I was confused so I nicely approached them for clarification but the lady got very offended and was raising her voice at me. I told them I could not afford it and I was told over the phone a completely different price and I would've appreciated better communication so I could be aware beforehand and prepared to pay. But then the doctor came in and started yelling at me to leave and never come back. The doctor even tried to pick up my puppy FROM HER SKIN out of anger. I was completely astonished by how these people reacted to THEIR OWN MISTAKE of not communicating to their client for the price of a splint. STAY AWAY FROM HERE AT ALL COSTS.

Explained what was going on with our 9 month old puppy over the phone and they said to come in … literally made us wait and did some Google searching and said we don’t know what it is. Such a waste of time, I found out more googling myself and another vet gave me the proper medicine and did not waste time and money. Bumps all the on lips and nose is not that uncommon and it’s happened to many dogs, it’s most likely a bacterial infection which I had to figure out on my own. Don’t mean to offend anyone but seemed to me like the vet we saw had absolutely no idea what he was doing and just took our money.

Having moved just recently to the area, we were in search of a new vet clinic for our dog. I am easily concerned towards my dog and I always have lots of questions when I bring him to the vet. Dr. Mak was very patient and thorough during the consultation. She is knowledgeable and I strongly feel my dog is in good hands with her. The staff are all friendly and we had a pleasant experience. The staff here are amazing, they took good care of our sick dog, Chloe, and when it was time for her to go over the rainbow bridge, they were very supportive. We have a new puppy now and we would not even think of taking him anywhere but here. The cost for different things are very reasonable. Had an emergeny appointment today for our rabbit. They were the only clinic open on Christmas Eve. I am so glad they could get us in. The staff was so friendly and they even gave us some supplies for no charge. Honestly they saved our little man. We have been going here for years. Recently been experiencing more issues. We had one of our cats Franki go in after a consultation to get neutered. The consultation stated that Franki had only one testicle, so the operation was going to be more intense. Got quoted $237 I believe or just around. Today at 4 I get a call saying they didn’t prepare for such a long surgery because the didn’t see he only had one testicle. So we would need to reschedule, and also pay upwards of $500 now. Also they had already sedated him, for no reason then which I don’t like. So at the end of the day, we had, missed a day or work(which we will have to miss another now), had our cat sedated for no apparent reason. And found out we were miss quoted by over $300. I tried to see if there is anything that can be done to help, but was told that there isn’t. Unfortunately very unimpressed by our local, trusted vet. Will most likely try and find another after all this.

I went with my 6-month old puppy to this WALK-IN emergency pet hospital, and was set on hold for a couple minutes after specifying my dog needed attention ASAP. Due to fear for our pet, we banged on the door to get someones attention. The vet on the phone said they were not taking walk-ins as i specify we're at their door. We were not quick to be helped and accused of poisoning our puppy. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! One vet was considerate, but the other left a horrible taste in our mouths; Worried pet parents... Wow.

They are about making money, not about helping animals. When my pet got some porcupine needles in his nose I called animal "hospital" in Newmarket for help. It was not even 7PM. "Hospital" asked how many needles dog got in the nose, because.... thy are closing in just over an hour. This was clear enough message about what is important for this "hospital"

We brought our rabbit Snowflake in and she was treated by Dr Mak. Dr Mak was great. She was gentle and compassionate while examining Snowflake. She has rabbits of her own which was further reassuring. She patiently showed us how to administer the critical care food to Snowflake and answered all of our questions. Snowflake received excellent treatment and we will return to Dr Mak. The Sheridan vet tech student (her name Darias?) assisting was also great. The price of the visit very reasonable.

The examination rooms smell like wet dog too. Super unsanitary place. Staff don’t know how to do their jobs. It feels like a back alley “vet” clinic. Wouldn’t go here. (Tara Alwan) Initially, I was nervous to bring my cat here, considering that I was coming from Woodbridge and there were a lot of good, but expensive vets in my area, however, I brought my 20 year-old cat in last night because he hadn't been eating, drinking, or pooping for the last week. I expressed to the technician how important this cat was to the family and she reassured me that they were going to do everything in their power to get my cat back home. After some quick, and fairly cheap assessments, my cat is now fully back to eating, drinking, and pooping. Both the technician and the vet seemed to care greatly about the cat. I would definitely drive the 30 minutes just to go back. Would highly recommend.

The worst staff you will ever encounter. When asked why I was not notified of policy changes the staff and one of the owners were beyond arrogant and rude. When I asked to speak to the vet/other owner I was dismissed so incredibly rudely. They will happily take your money and make you wait everytime but when confronted with a simple question you are no more than garbage on their shoe.

I’ve been with this vet with three different cats and I have always been pleased with them. They are always friendly and helpful and you can really tell they care deeply for the animals. My kitten was sick and we were waiting for our appointment and the receptionist gave me a bunch of supplies to clean him while we were waiting. The prices are also reasonable and they never try to over charge you. Even as of late, with the pandemic and longer wait times due to that, they are equally as friendly and helpful.

We came to be patients at Newmarket Animal Hospital when one of our cats became seriously ill and required emergency attention. We were able to get in to see a vet immediately. Our cat who has always been horrible with others especially vets was comfortable immediately. Everyone was so great with her. The customer service is exceptional and they were able to treat her to avoid a costly surgery. The staff are competent and such a pleasure to work with. Sadly we have moved and are unable to get our cats back to the clinic going forward but we would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a clinic with staff that truly cares. Angels do exist & her name is Lori! I am absolutely amazed at this hospital! I couldn't believe that they stayed in till 1030pm operating on my little Spike(he's 10yrs old&6lbs)! I honestly thought that he was dying when Lori promised me that he would be OK before we left (we're from S.S.M)and she kept her promise! It was so emotional when I had seen him...we both started to cry. He's a new puppy all over again! She loves what she does and it shows! She had no idea that I almost lost my mom a couple days before and she saved my little man .... I will be forever grateful! They've got enough experience (&enough patients)that you can be sure that they won't be wasting any time or money on a bunch of unnecessary tests like most other vets. This is a place where healing begins and Spike is living proof of that! Thank you so much!

They are a full service clinic, no sending out blood samples to labs and charging you for the lab fees for a simple cbc like another clinic I've been to. Many yrs of experience, and they do equine as well. These vets saved my dog in a very difficult surgery and I will be forever grateful to them for there kindness and care. I'm a retired veterinary technician so I know how difficult that operation was. I highly recommend them to all Newmarket pet owners who love their four legged babies and want the best care possible at reasonable prices. To Nancy Rofail I got ya girl, as I said I worked in the field and I would have been fired if I had ever spoken to a customer the way she spoke to me! Glad she's gone, makes your experience a great one. Your right Debbie is a sweetheart I've listened to her talk to customers on the ph and she realizes that our pets are loved like we love our children well most people do, and she talks to you respectfully!

DO NOT GO HERE. If you love your animals, find another vet. This clinic is extremely unprofessional and cruel. They never respond to voicemails and requests, the staff are incapable, and the "vet" and "vet tech" there will KILL YOUR ANIMALS and dose them improperly and not own up to it. They will dismiss you and treat you like garbage. Just because they are close to you doesn't mean you should go. If you need an exotic vet, take the time to drive. elsewhere - otherwise risk losing your animal. WORST PLACE EVER.

October 19, 2020 my dog was diagnosed with Pyometra Infection. She had to have urgent surgery to remove her uterus. Therefore that night I went crazy & called 11 different veterinarians. Majority of them very unprofessional on the phone, had to wait 1 to 2 months or were extremely pricey. A lot of veterinarians have the fanciest reception areas 5 to 10 different people that attend to you. Guess what? Our pets don’t need all that luxury our pets need someone to love them and take good care of them and at the same time pet owners need reasonable prices would be helpful for a lot of us. Thank God for the Newmarket Animal Hospital! Dr. Potter and Lori waited an hour and a half after closing for our arrival that night. They were very concerned about my dogs situation. Did not ask for any money or Credit card. Proceeded with the surgery that same night. They also kept me constantly updated on the condition of my dog via text message. I would highly recommend this vet to all pet owners who genuinely care about the well-being of their pet. Thank you very much from the bottom of my Dr. Potter & Lori ❤️ Love, Paula & Rui & Baby ❤️

I am not a client of this hospital, but I reached out to them in a pinch. Long story I was having trouble getting my rabbit her pain meds, my usual vet has limited hours and the prescription transfer from the emergency hospital didn’t line up time wise for me to pick them up that day. I googled and called Newmarket Animal hospital, to see if they could assist me. On the phone the woman was so helpful and said no problem. With a few complications on my end, the girls were patient with me and the staff continued to support and help me get the meds my rabbit needed. They went out of their way to help me and were so friendly and welcoming while doing it. I was so appreciative of such compassion and kindness during such a difficult time in the world with the pandemic, and when my bunny just needed some relief. I wouldn’t hesitate to bring my animals into this clinic anytime. Thank you.

I just took my pets here. I dealt with Debbie, who is a sweetheart. However when I asked about my total- I spoke with Laurie. She was so unbelievably rude to me and asked me why I was in “her face” about asking about my total... I was completely shocked. She said, “so what do you want??? You want your money back!” Then she went in the back ... and walked away. I have never been spoken to with such disrespect. I will be calling the owner to let them know what kind of staff they have here.

We had an accident at home and 2 of our dogs got into a fight. One was hurt. We called the animal hospital and they said we could bring him in. Upon arrival we were told we couldnt go in with him cause of covid. They took him in and came back a minute later full of attitude saying they were not going to touch him unless they sedate him. They said that he was a dangerous dog and that they know his kind of breed and they are dangerous. My dog is a doberman mix. Regardless of what sort of breed he was, clearly dog was hurt and in need of help. He is not aggressive nor did he show them any signs. He has never been a threat to anyone and specially at that time he barely could keep his eyes open. If you sign up for a job, specially in such a field you should be prepared to help without any judgement. Help is help. Specially when you are getting paid for it you would think you would be a bit more willing. Disgusted with their tone and attitude we took our dog and left.

I brought my 16 year old cat in to be seen. We were able to get an appointment quickly which I appreciated. However after the initial appointment I was told they would be in touch regarding xray results. Waiting over 2 weeks, with me calling constantly to follow up. Turns out they never even sent the xrays to be read. So unprofessional. Especially when the xrays are detrimental to my cats health. Would NOT recommend going here.

Rude, unprofessional, dismissive, not knowledgable, will rush you, lie to you, and if you try to explain something they did wrong they will turn it around on you. 0/10 would NEVER recommend this vet to ANYBODY. Other vet clinics have called them unprofessional and when the other clinics asked for specific information regarding a client's report, they provided minimal information. Do not trust them. Friends have also reported how disgraceful they are. People need to know how harmful this clinic is. Please do yourselves a favour and run far away from this establishment. They should not be caring for animals, they only care about the pay cheque.

Took my 3 months puppy for an emergency on a Wednesday at 3pm and no vets were on site. Staff was not helpful, we were at the door, begging for help with a sick puppy, willing to pay whatever was needed and we were treated like s@&#. Hard to accept an animal hospital without a vet on a midday Wednesday. Terrible place!!

The staff and vets here are some of the most friendly, caring we have ever come across. Our senior dog just had emergency surgery and without the staff here she would have lost her life. We can not thank them enough for how amazing we have been treated throughout this entire very scary process. They have treated her like she was their own! Dr. Tracey Medely it a top notch clinician who provides amazing care to my dogs and cats when things are well - and compassionate care to our family when things don't go so well. I have nothing to say about the vet. He seams like a nice person. But the older lady at the reception is very rude and their scheduling is really bad. I went there three times and all three times I had to wait over 45 minutes. Looks like they don't understand the meaning of an appointment. I have to take time off from work for this. I always mention this over the phone and the tell me is no problem. Just come and you will see the doctor in time. But it never happens. And for this I won't go there anymore.

Aims

Do not take your pet here! My cat was declining and I opted to go here instead of where I wanted to go because they had the earliest appointment. Due to COVID I couldn't be inside with my cat and they asked for no background information for the assessment - I had to write my own detailed notes since no one was going to ask me anything. After the exam, the doctor gave me little information about my pet's health issue and being in shock, I was unsure what to ask. He suggested investigating further with a biopsy and he didn't even mention I could skip the biopsy and opt to remove the growth - even though the second vet I went to said it was too far gone either way. Then when I called back to follow up, he had the receptionist try to answer my questions! - what's worse is, she provided me better information that he did! This is a very unprofessional place and the doctor seemed like he did not care and was only out to make a buck. Go anywhere else if you can!

Our dog got sick during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, almost all clinics were closed but they stayed open to check on my pooch. My dog was diagnosed with pancreatitis which led to a turbulent and sad two weeks concluding in her passing. However this clinic went above and beyond during the 2 weeks to make sure my dog was looked after. She had to stay at the clinic most days to get IV and they treated her like family, watching her and trying to make her happy. They talked to us during the whole time to keep us updated and were invested in trying to get her to recover. I know they did everything in their power to try to help my dog and were compassionate to us when we were a mess in this situation.
