I stumbled upon hunt valley animal hospital online after poking around the MD area for a surgeon to identify a soft palette/breathing issue with my french bulldog named “Moto”. In short I've never felt so at home and comfortable with everything that was going to happen. Dr.Allan Frank and his staff is beyond friendly, welcoming, and professional. Moto received a pretty intense surgery in my eyes but again Dr. Frank stated that it wasn't a big deal and with his knowledge of bulldogs and the medical field , he was undoubtedly right. We are now 2 months out from when the surgery was completed and my little dude is actually MORE energetic than he already was, he also received stenotic nares surgery (nose) and it actually looks like it was sculpted from a god. Thank you Hunt valley for treating our family like yours it made all of the difference.

We used to go to Chadwell for our bird, Dr. Gold was very good but it was just too far. I asked Nextdoor people and Facebook bird groups for an avian vet. close to Owings Mills. Dr. Ho came highly recommended from Facebook and Nextdoor. I decided to take a chance and my wife and I are very happy. Dr. Ho was very thorough and we didn't feel rushed. She took her time to explain everything to us, just exactly what a lot of people said about her.

I received my 2 fur babies during the covid crisis and I like the organized way that they handle patients. It’s fast and you wait in your car for about 20 minutes max. They stick to the appointment time. The vet calls you on your cell while you wait in the car and tells you about your pet and what tests were done and what follow ups need to be done. Very friendly staff. That is what I like most about it. Somewhat pricey but you get what you pay for because they truly care about your animals and giving the best care possible.

We are new to this place & to be perfectly honest, we initially decided to give them a try because of their GREAT electronic sign out front. It turned out quite well. The docs & the staff are all very approachable & knowledgeable. The ever growing list of services offered is quite impressive as well. One of the key things about this animal clinic is that everyone we encountered exudes competence. One can gather a great deal when a location demonstrates quite clearly that all know what they are doing and like working there. Our English Bulldog, Gladstone was recently in for his elongated soft palate, nares and neuter. We cannot thank Dr. Frank and his staff enough for taking care of our baby. Gladstone is a completely different dog now that he has had the soft palate and nares surgery. The surgery opened up his nose and his palate no longer obstructs his airway. His snoring has also subsided and we barely hear him at night. He breathes 100 times better!!! We LOVE Hunt Valley and highly recommend them!

This place knows Bulldogs! The staff was very friendly and I loved that I was able to walk right in to the clean exam room from the car (I called to say I had arrived.) During the appointment we got alot done in a short period of time but it was not at all rushed. Dr. Gore was very nice and helped educate me on the higher presence of Lyme disease in MD, recommending a preventative shot. The tech and Dr. Gore took the time to get to know my senior Bulldog's history of surgeries and my concerns now that she is a 'senior' dog. I'm also amazed at how short the techs were able to get her overgrown nails!!! I'm happy to have found a new home for the health needs of my Bulldog in our new home state.

The staff is so incredibly thoughtful and responsive, and Dr. Ho knows what she's doing. Her schedule is pretty booked regularly, but she's been willing to fit us very quickly when we put our name on their daily waitlist. What's even better is that, I'm a kind of scatter-brained person with just too much going on, and despite my sometimes neurotic and sometimes aloof requests and/or explanations, they have met my concerns with nothing but respect and understanding. I first spoke with Meghan about our pug suffering with sever sleep apnea. She was very kind and attentive to everything I said to her about our pug Penny. She got us an appointment quickly and we seen Dr. Johnson. It was agreed on that Penny should have her soft pallet and air way checked. The first available surgeon was Dr. Cujdik. He performed her surgery and treated us and Penny like family!!! Through her recovery, Dr. Cujdik has worked passionately and has gone above and beyond all expectations to make sure Penny is ok. He even had us check in daily with reports on her recovery. On one of the visits we saw Dr. Ho, another fantastic dr. who listened in detail to everything we said about Penny. There are no words to describe the unbelievable compassion they have shown towards Penny and my family. Dr. Cujdik even took his personal time to consult with other specialists to address Pennies case so that Penny would receive the absolute best care possible. There are good drs. all around, but the drs. at Hunt Valley Animal Hospital are exceptional!!!! My first experience with Hunt Valley was an emotionally trying one - my cat was having some GI symptoms, and then unfortunately was diagnosed and lost to cancer. I was horrible losing her, but what I can say is that HV animal hospital was excellent. Her diagnosis and treatment (we tried for a surgical repair of the tumor) were without delay. The veterinarian (Dr. Cujdik) and vet techs were thorough, gentle, and very supportive. Not all outcomes will be good when your pet is sick, but what I truly appreciate looking back is that I am confident that HV animal hospital did what was best for my cat and gave her the best chance of survival. Though I was not terribly dissatisfied with my prior vet, I was so impressed by the quality of care that I decided to move all my pets to the practice. I returned for a check up with my dog, and again we received the same high quality care in the context of a well-visit. Dr. Cujdik gave a notably thorough exam: I left feeling confident the vet's "he's is healthy" was something I could believe.

Today was a great visit for us. Dr. Harrison-Jackson gave me some options and information that I didn't have before. In addition, everyone was so understanding of May's anxiety issues and managed -- to my surprise -- to get more done than I expected. EDITED 7 months later: Upon moving, we asked for our records from Hunt Valley. It turns out that they would take my dog to the back and muzzle her to complete her exam. She doesn't do well with being muzzled. They didn't aske me first. When they did ask me and told them not to muzzle her, they seemed upset or shocked. I even mentioned paying for sedation to do all of her vaccines and tests at one time instead of muzzling her. Well, I'm just glad we're moving. I wouldn't recommend Hunt Valley. All dogs are capable of fear-based aggression when you put a muzzle on them. You can make them more aggressive with this tactic. You never want to push a dog to growling. Back off. Take her back to her owner. Sedate her. To be clear, she is not an aggressive dog and had never growled at anyone before.

After losing our 18-month old bulldog to surgical complications, we are very nervous with our new baby. Dr. Frank was recommended to us as a specialist for bulldogs so we made our first puppy visit with him. Everyone was very attentive and understanding of our situation and has taken such great care of our new baby Greta. When she became ill on a Friday, the staff helped direct us to an emergency clinic and we were able to get in for a follow-up on Saturday morning. They took great care to review her charts from the ER clinic and spent time with her to help her get her puppy spunk back. Dr Frank even called us on Sunday to ensure Greta was on the mend.

I don’t even know where to start as it is to much to comment. I can not Thank Dr Cujdik enough for literally saving my French Bulldog Louie’s life!!! He was on deaths door when Dr Cujdik and staff was able to get him as soon as they could. On a Sunday Louie was seen at a er, on mon his vet and Friday @ hvah. First thing Dr Cujdik realized was he had no airflow coming from his nose and only 1 lung working correctly. We got started on some meds and a trip back for sedation. We still don’t know what’s ahead of us but we are on the right track for now. Louie can see his 7th bday at the end of the month because of getting him to the right vet. Thanks so much Dr Cujdik again!! Well worth our 45 min drive ????????

The staff at Hunt Valley Animal Hospital has always treated our dog wonderfully. We feel like they have shown genuine care for him even as he as gotten older. When treatment has been necessary they have presented us with options but I have never felt like they were pushing treatments on my wife and I. Went here a few times when my dog was a puppy back in 2012... The girls the worked at the front desk were so rude every time I went there I could not understand how they had any business. I assumed that the doctors would compensate for the rudeness of the front desk... Boy was I wrong. I cannot remember her name but she was around 50 with blonde hair. Whatever the doctors name is...she dealt with my dog like she hated animals in general !!!! I mean your a VET !!!! Act friendly to the dog you are about to examine !!! Not only was she very callous with my dog... There were several times I asked this "doctor" a question and she gave me a very snide answer like "how dare you ask me a question!!!". She did not smile or act like she cared for even one second. I thought maybe it was just a bad day... NOPE. SHE WAS CONSISTENTLY RUDE ALL 3 TIMES I WENT THERE. The last time I was there the girl at the front desk kept givinge a bad look because my 2 month old puppy was jumping up and down on the chair (on a leash mind you) and then asked me IF I COULD WAIT OUTSIDE WITH MY DOG UNTIL I WAS READY TO BE SEEN. VERY UNACCEPTABLE. NEEDLESS TO SAY I JUST LEFT AND NEVER CAME BACK.

I used Hunt Valley Animal Hospital for many years close to 20 years with my dog. I've had at least three of my dogs go to this location. The staff is very friendly and they treat your pets as if they were their own pets. I've never had a problem with my dog being mistreated at this facility. The staff is very cordial and friendly and the facility is very clean. The waiting time is not as long as you would think for the veterinarian to see your pet. For one month and a half I had to work in Italy and one of my dogs boarded at this location. When I picked my dog up, she was in the same condition she was when I left her to go work overseas. Hands down the best Veterinarians I’ve ever used. My dog and I both adore the entire staff. All of the Vets are great and Plato, my Standard Poodle, and I are particularly fond of Dr. Pondish and Dr. Johnston. They have always managed to fit us in quickly even on short notice. My boy has a critical illness that is uncommon and often misdiagnosed but the Vets at HVAH figured it out and I believe they saved his life. With proper attention and management he is now living a happy and healthy life.

This was my favorite place to bring my animals before I moved out of state. When I moved back it was the first place I had in mind to call to bring my dog to to get her vaccinations. I’m not sure what happened between the time I left until now but it’s like I’m going to a completely new vet. They use to really care about animals and their well being. I even brought them a rabbit that I found along side the road one day that had been hit by a car and they took it in at no cost to try and help it the best they could. I guess they no longer care though because my experience Over the past couple weeks has been nothing like it was years ago. I work during their normal business hours and can’t personally bring my dog in. I let them know that my boyfriend and my mom were going to bring her in for her vaccines and they said that was fine. We had been emailing back and forth and I sent them over her vaccine records so they could put them all together. On the date of the appointment (9/10/20) I was charged almost $400 for her services that I was told in advance would only be around $120. They did not contact me in anyway to let me know that it was going to be so expensive and I gave no consent to being charged that much. They sent me an email of the price break down and a new vaccine certificate. They would not include her rabies vaccine on it because My dog didn’t get it from them. In which case I’m not really sure why they requested I send them the records. They wrote on her vaccine paperwork that she hasn’t gotten vaccinated for rabies since 2014. One of the extra things they did was bloodwork. I was told the vet would contact me in a few days to let me know the results. After hearing nothing for days I called them on 9/16/20. The receptionist informed me that they left a voicemail to the number on file. The number on file was a number that I haven’t had for five years. I have my current number on my email which we have been using up until this point to communicate. She said she couldn’t talk to me about the results but she would have the vet call me. Which she did the next day. When I spoke with the vet she said everything looked normal on the blood work but she wanted to do xrays on her stomach bc there is some abdominal swelling. I let her know I was going to be scheduling it soon that I had to figure out money. I called the next day to ask about a price quote and the receptionist said one would be emailed to me. I never received it. I called again during business hours on 9/19/20 and no one answered so I left a voicemail. I still haven’t received a price quote on her xrays and honestly at this point I don’t want to bring my dog back because they have made it such a hassle for my dog to be treated. The ONLY reason I didn’t not give one star is because the staff is friendly.

I am putting a one star rating on the Grooming ONLY. I did go to the vet here and they were super sweet. The groomer is NOT sweet and is basically there to work, not passionate about animals or her work. She called me to tell me my dog had to be picked up because he needed medication before coming back so he was half done, anxious and by the way took him somewhere else(MA) where I moved from for six years without medication. She also tried to muzzle him which I told her not too. I have never heard of a non-aggressive small dog being sent home! NEVER AGAIN!

Dr. Cudjik is the best vet. I took my puppy to Valley Dog and Cat Hospital when he started limping in October. 2 sets of xrays, multiple appointments and they never could find anything wrong with him. I took the same xrays to Dr. Cudjik and he immediately told me the exam and xrays show he has osteochondrosis in one shoulder and Osteochondritis in the other. Toby suffered for months under the care of Valley Dog and Cat Hospital in Owings Mills. I started using Dr. Cudjik years ago when he worked at a vet in Pikesville but once he moved to Hunt Valley, I decided to find a closer vet. Big mistake! Best vet ever!! My 10-1/2 year old cat had to have dental surgery which included nine extractions. She sailed through the procedure but had a tough time with recovery. I had my first cat declawed (all 4) by an experienced veterinarian last year and it cost a little over $600. I got my kitten declawed (front 2, weighs less) and was charged over $600 again. The first veterinarian told me is was $200 less to do front two, but we had to do all for for medical reasons. I spoke to the receptionist about it, she spoke to the doctor and I was credited $68. This is a much less experienced vet. Two less paws. Kitten vs adult cat. I looked prices up for the average price and $450 was on the high end. I trusted this clinic. My friend just told me the other day to be careful of this clinic because they over charge. I never thought so until now. Extremely disappointed.

I've experienced 3 vets previous to this one and they don't compare. Dr. Pondish was direct, informative, and did not try to just make me feel good. He told me what I needed to do to help my dog be in an ideal condition, not just comfortable. I've been taking my animal(s) to Hunt Valley for as long as I've been living in the area. Most of this review gives kudos to Dr. Vivian Ho. She is my go to for not only my dog, but for any of our other wide range of pets that we have at home. It's amazing how knowledgeable and patient she is. Not only that, but even if she is running around like a chicken with their head cut off because of how busy she is, you still have all your questions answered thoroughly and she walks you through each individual item individually. It doesn't matter how busy she is, she makes it a point to make sure that you understand everything that is going on with your pet. The girls at the front desk are mostly nice, some more than others, and it seems as there is sometimes a disconnect between the doctors and the front desk. My dog was prescribed medication that I was going to pick up at a local pharmacy the next day - I showed up and they had no idea what I was talking about. Someone had forgotten to call it in. I had to call the front desk, inquire about it, and thankfully the girl who helped me was able to get me situated fairly quickly. She even called me back to confirm that she did call the pharmacy herself. Other times, though, it seems like they are only on the phone because they have to be. It just depends who is working I guess. I called a little while ago to try to make an appointment for my dog that I was concerned about, but was informed that the next available appointment with Dr. Ho was in a week and a half. I then contacted Dr. Ho myself and was given an appointment the next day. It really just all depends. I think people really need to understand when they're giving bad reviews for places such as veterinary offices, is the extent of how busy they actually are. You're mad because you weren't seen after you were late for your appointment? I'm sorry, every single person that has an appointment behind you isn't going to suffer because you couldn't show up on time. There was a gentleman in at my last visit who was getting an attitude with the front desk ladies because "xyz" wasn't disclosed when he booked the appointment. "How am I supposed to know what any of this means or what these procedures are if I wasn't told about it beforehand!" Aside from the fact that a grown man should have known what a lot of the procedures they mentioned are, talk it through with the staff - they'll be glad to give you any and all information you may need if you ask for it.

I normally don't do reviews, but the reason I chose Hunt Valley for my dogs surgery was because of a review of another dog owner whose dog had the same surgery as my dog so I wanted to write one this time. The service is great, everyone is very friendly. My dog had airway corrective surgery and spay, I was terrified because she is an English Bulldog and it is very risky for them to be put under anesthesia. Dr. Cujdik made me feel so much better though because he explains everything so well and he has done this surgery several times before on the same breed. Her recovery has been great, we live 2 hrs from the hospital but he is there for you through email and phone for any questions. I exchanged several emails post surgery with pictures and videos of my dog and that made me feel better about her recovery and being sure it was going well.
