1 word Peace
These professionals are amazing, took their time with Lola, properly assested her. Was warm caring and fair on pricing. I highly recommend this vet! Thanks Nick
Very good care.
The worst... Nothing but money grabbers.. take your pet any where else
Very friendly staff. Wonderful veterinarians.
Amazing staff and service ... I've never owned a puppy before.. on every visit the Vets and staff took their time to educate and address any questions or concerns . Better than my own family doctor ????????♀️ #butta mommy
Nothing but putting you in a larger bill as possible. That's the main idea of this place. Our cat died 2 days after the visit, just because they wanted to go through a long list of tests and assessments on an old cat. They could help him with his infection but... Never walk into this place ever again.
Gentle, kind, efficient and always there
Friendly and caring staffs
My two dogs Meelo & Cheeko have been patient here for almost 3 years the staff is always so kind & professional so good to my dogs the boys love Rebecca she always does the best grooming I have seen my Meelo gives a hard time to most groomers but is so good with her the bayview hill animal app is the best part because it lets you know about upcoming appointments and proscription are ready
Front desk has gotten better. They are very nice workers and they remember dogs names.
(Translated) This doctor who treats cats is pretty good, but an appointment is required (Original) 这家给猫咪看病的医生蛮好的,但是要预约
Absolutely wonderful service, clean and professional environment, and the staff here genuinely care about your animals!!
Very nice staff
All around a money hungry hospital , do not go.
Dr. Sherkey is awesome! He has taken care of our family pets for 20+ years. Our latest family member Shih-Tzu Brady loves him and the way he's handled and treated. Tail wags when we say we're going to see Dr. Sherkey.
Dr Rebecca Sherkey is the BEST vet in the world. Our 3 year old dog got very ill and after our vet told us to put our dog down we left and found Dr Sherkey. Her smiling face, knowledge and love for animals is so apparent everyday. We are truly lucky to have found her and our dog is now on the road to recovery. You can't ask for a nicer more honest vet. We will continue to recommend this clinic to everyone as they are truly wonderful!
If I could give them 0, I would! Terrible front desk associates! Would never recommend or go in again! I feel bad for the doctors who work with these moody front desk people!
My Kitten had a freak accident and fell between the bars of my railing. She wasn't acting or walking correctly. My mother referred me to Dr. Sherkey and I called and made an appointment. During the first appointment Dr. Sherkey was compassionate not only to my kitten but to me. He never made me feel pressure to do any procedures and was considerate that I was in a very emotional state. We took it step by step and explained the options I had. My gut told me this was more than a dislocation of the hip and only x rays could tell that. Dr. Sherkey looked up each and everything I might need and gave me the cost so I could make the correct judgment on what I could afford and there would be NO surprises. He also took the time to explain the possible side effects if we didn't look into it. I left my kitten there for a few hours so they could make her comfortable and find out what happen. It was the worst situation. My kitten broke her ball joint in her hip and shared the x ray with me. Dr. Sherkey gave me options to go with someone he uses regularly that wasn't board certified and was in the process of writing his board certifications and cost a lot less or with someone that is board certified to do the reconstructive surgery my kitten needed to fix her joint. It is 6 weeks later and my kitten has turned a year and is running around with her sister and brother and you see no signs that she had her ball joint removed and fixed. She can still make the jumps she did before the accident and I can't thank Dr. Sherkey and his staff for their support. Any time I had a concern they told me to bring her in and never charged me for any of the follow up appointment. I would recommend this clinic just based on the fact there is no hinted costs and they are very upfront and made me feel I could make the decisions and gave me the tools and choices to do so.
In my many years as a pet owner and farmer, I have been to many vets and clinics with my animals. This clinic and it's staff are wonderful. Well informed, respectful to myself and my pet, caring and gentle. Time was taken to fully explain tests and treatment recommended and the willingness to collaborate with me on the course of treatment is much appreciated. My cat hadn't been to a vet in many years and I expected him to be agitated. The style and demeanor of all staff that handled him was so calm and gentle. They also prepared for his arrival to the exam room with spraying the pheremone Feliway, and it works!! He was so relaxed. I would easily recommend Dr. Sherkey and his team at Bayview Hill.
My first and last visit to this clinic. The front desk staff are very friendly but the vet that did a check up on my cat just gave me a bad vibe. It seemed all he wanted to do was sell me on things and my cat was not himself while we were there, he did not jive well with him. My last vet experience my cat was crawling all over the vet and staff while purring at his max. That was enough to tell me that this place was not the place to bring my cat. *editing to respond* It was not his gender I had an issue with, it was the lack of compassion with my cat I did not like. He was a very “cold” vet. I’ve had numerous cats, rats, dogs, hedgehogs as pets with vet visits and I have yet to have one that my cat jump off the examination table to avoid a vet. Please don’t make this about gender. My previous vet and assistants/staff never had an issue with Jack (the cat your vet examined) being put off by them, he would climb right into their shoulders from the first visit. At your location the vet didn’t do anything to calm my cat when it came to his check-up. The spray didn’t do a thing for him, and the amount of medication recommended for his car rides made him into a drooling mess. I had to give him 1/2 the dose on his next car ride. I don’t care if it’s a male vet or female vet. I do care how they treat/connect with my family and Jack is my family.
Great and friendly staff
They will squeeze every dollar out of you, beware!
It's always a pleasure dealing with this veterinary clinic! I receive regular calls asking how my cats are doing after an appointment and the service is above and beyond.
This animal hospital simply wants to sell you every service under the sun. If that does not work they try to guilt you into buying the extras and then play the fear card of potential illnesses and costs if you don't. I suggest you go elsewhere for better value and a more honest assessment of what your pet requires. After 3 years were throwing in the towel and going down the street where the service is better and so are the prices.
Our Dog, Sam, had been going to Bayview Hill Animal hospital for over 14 yrs. Thanks to Dr Sherkey and his staff for always being so professional and reliable as we always felt comfortable bringing our dog here. Sadly we had to put him down last week and Dr Sherkey and his staff were amazing during this very difficult process. Thank You again. The Pacione Family
Good place to get check up, though prices for tests and further treatment are somewhat expensive.
Wonderful animal hospital with great doctors and staff. My Bella is actually happy to come here! I've been to other vets over the years, and I can tell you vet care is costly anywhere you go. Here, the prices are the same as other places but at least I feel they care about me, my baby and offer great service. I would never go anywhere else
This place is extremely unprofessional and I would not recommend. We recently got a puppy and came here for the vaccinations and check ups. Right away Dr.Sherkey pushes a large bag of puppy food onto us without even giving us the option or price. We are simply told, “come back to us when you need another bag”. His current food, TLC was specifically recommended by the breeder and has one of the highest ratings online. But Sherkey claimed to have never heard of this brand. Not only that he includes a puppy toothbrush, another item we were never informed he was “giving” (we already had a toothbrush!). The icing on the cake is that every time you go in, they pre charge you for services to be completed on your next visit, forcing you to keep coming back to them. In times like this, I don’t want to be prepaying for any services. Stop taking advantage of your customers. I’ve asked many people in the neighbourhood - all have shared the same opinion about this establishment.
This is the only place we trust with our dog. Excellent staff , friendly service and take the time to explain all procedures and options. The app they use to communicate and schedule appts is also very helpful these days.
Very happy with the Vets here. I will always trust them with my animal. Very compassionate and willing to take the time to educate the patients owner
Price higher than others!
Great place to get your dog groomed.
Great folks.
The reception ask me to go another hospital to do the blood test. Sure, there are several animals hospitals around me. Why come back with terrible service!!!
Bayview Hill Animal Hospital is a five star veterinary clinic that provides excellent care for your best friend. I am a client of Bayview Hill for over six years now. I took my cat rags to this vet in 2006 and later in 2009 she was diagnosed with polycystic Kidney Disease. She lived for three more years because of there hard work and experience in the field. Truly Bayview hill was my cats second favorite home when most animals hate hospitals. I still miss her very much. She passed away May last year. I have adopted another friend from Toronto Pet rescue and her name is prissy. But it is sad that she has kidney problems as well but with there help I believe she will be around for many more yrs to come. Finally I would like to say compared to other vets there prices are reasonable becuase there are no extra charges for emergencies and many times i was given a break with the examine fees and look at this sometimes no charge for nail trimmings. For sure this is the best vet in the gta. In the six years i have been attending this vet there prices still remain basically the same. If you are looking for a good vet. Look no further than Bayview Hill Animal Hospital. I promise you that you won't be dissappointed.
I really like this clinic. Made a switch because the care and services are awesome. Rates are affordable and they truly care about the wellbeing of my furbabe. Dr. Bourns is a wonderful veterinarian and every experience has been super helpful and food.
Lovely staff, clean and friendly. Very compassionate and available to answer all questions. Share all details and are transparent about pricing. Been going for a number of years now, can’t speak highly enough about the wonderful people!
I have been coming here for 20 years. The father/daughter team are incredible. It’s a perfect combination of old school medicine with new modern technologies and services. They always explain the path we should take and what test we should start with and never make me feel like I’m being pressured to do numerous tests at once. Pet ownership comes at a cost but I always felt that they put our dogs health and well being above all. Over the years my 2 dogs have collected several illnesses/conditions and they have held my hand to get them to 12 years and 14 years respectively and climbing!! I would not have my 2 dogs here today without them.
The staff here is very friendly and did/does everything they can to help with my pet! I was really impressed with how much they cared and how amazing they were with my cat! :) I had a few concerns/complaints on the first two visits (visits were 2 days in a row) about various things. The head vet doctor called me personally to address my concerns. Afterwards they gave me compensations and help beyond what I could imagine. Every visit or interaction afterwards have been great. They always give me options when it comes to prices, treatments etc. and I really appreciate that. I would definitely recommend this place! :)
The Bayview Hill staff are all lovely, and very caring. Their quick diagnoses saved the life of one of my cats, and they've been excellent and caring through the many tribulations with another cat. Dr. Sherkey, Dr. Becky Sherkey, and Dr. Krayz have all been fantastic with my kitties, all the Techs are great, and the reception staff could not be kinder. Highly recommended!
Amazing
Short visit but clean and helpful assistant.
Best vet I have ever been, they really do their best and have a very kind and knowledgeable and lovely team that took care of my old cat that needed some of his teeth to be extracted...They educate you really well about all you need to know
Staff always willing to help and truly care about your family pet. Been going to Dr Sherkey for the past 30+ years. Now his daughter Becky Sherkey is a vet too...and eaually awesome.
I brought my cat in when he stopped eating on a Sunday of a long weekend. My regular vet was closed and they are located only a few minutes from my home. Money was an issue for me and I didn't have Pet Insurance. They offered me options and alternatives. I was very grateful. My cat had many visits before we had to finally put him to sleep due to a mass in his abdomen. All the Dr's were briefed on my cat's history in case he came in. I was refered to a specialist at one point and one of the Dr's met me there on her day off. Making the decision to put my cat to sleep was very difficult but the staff at Bayview Hill were very supportive and gave us as much time as we needed. I miss my cat dearly but I know that I did everything I could in the end. I do have another cat and I will be changing to this Vet from now on.
Went for grooming of my cat. Great and professional people there who care.
Great staff who were pleasant, professional, and were gentle with my pet. Prices are competitive, and the quality of care was excellent. Parking is plentiful and the facility was easy to access. I will definitely be back.
I would stay away from this place. The service is good enough but they are quite literally money grabbers. Always trying to sell you products that you don't need, hidden charges etc.
Take care of cat
This is a top notch facility in York Region for animal care. in fact, No. 1. We have been taking our cats to this location for 14 years and they receive superb attention and care. Staff treat them like family. Dr. Shelley Sherkey, the owner and a very reputable veterinarian, is one of the most honest individuals I have met. Always available for conversations, and takes as much time as needed to deal with issues. He takes professionalism to an all-star level and is committed to clear and concise communication. His skills have been superb. Highly recommend Bayview Hill Animal Hospital!
Do not go here. I called ahead of time and asked about the price for vaccinations - the total price, than I made an appointment for the same day - guess what - when I got the bill it was sixty dollars more that the price that was quoted to me. On top of that they were trying to add a bag of food which I did not ask for - so who knows what the bill would have been. Really feel ripped off and doubly so because our other pet had gone to this vet clinic prior to her passing away.
Been coming here since my cat was 2 months old. She is now a healthy 3 years old in perfect health. From the start of the journey they offered a lot of helpful advice on a multitude of topics and continue to take great care of my cat whenever we visit. Everyone is very friendly and you can tell love animals, which is obviously important. Definitely recommend.
So sweet to my boy. Always comes out looking lovely.
Great
If I could have given more than 5 stars I would have. I adopted a rescue cat who was very ill when i got her. I chose Bayview Hill Animal Hospital because they were close to where I lived and I did not have a vet already at that time. I cannot say enough about a clinic that identified my cat Callie's problems immediately, treated her immediately and saved her life. That was 5 years ago, and my cat is still to date, healthy and happy, and a joy in my life. The doctors are excellent, knowledgeable and skilled. The office staff are friendly, courteous and helpful. I would never take my cat to anybody else, and I know when i take her there she will get the best treatment by people who care.
Nice staff and vets
Staff is caring, Professional and very respectful of all their clients.
This vets is very very good , all the staff are so friendly and take really good care of your animal and always give you advice on how best to take care of your pet , they get 5 stars from me
We adopted our cat from Bayview Hill 15 years ago, while I was working there part time helping out with kennel work. Since then we have been off and on clients with them with various pets. Today we have woken up to an extremely sick cat and desperately when I called to see if there was an opportunity to bring him in, there was no flexibility, nor was there any compassion from the receptionist to help with this problem. I would highly discourage anyone to bring their pets there.
Amazing staff!
We had the worst experience as patients of this hospital. While they have the latest technology, we, patients are paying for it three fold. They are a business and do not care about your pet, your visits are opportunities for them to charge you and if you push back they make you feel bad about not caring enough for your pet. We took our cat there knowing he is on his last few weeks due to kidney failure. We simply asked for an antibiotic to treat a mouth infection to be able to get him more comfortable for a few more days. We knew he was on his last stretch. Instead of listening, they ran a full blood panel, despite our insistence not to. They suggested he may also have an ear infection and wanted to run more swabs, they refused to give us the antibiotic and we had to wait for the results to come back. All we needed was a liquid antibiotic and some pain meds so we can offer a few more days of comfort to our old and proud kitten. They had to maximize all this cost of care while he was still alive. After we got the test results they called us to tell us we have to consider putting him down right away but also suggested to run more tests, just to make sure. Money, money, money, absolutely horrible bed side manners. Maybe not all pet owners are in sync with their pets but our baby fought hard and wanted to be around us for just a few more days so we can all say our goodbyes and we knew when he was ready to go, we did not prolong his suffering. With the antibiotics and pain meds he got a full week of normal eating and cuddling and "talking" to us. When the kidneys could not carry their task any longer, after a good week with him, after a night of him moving around and trying to hide, vomiting and crying, we decided to let him go. The lack trust with the vets here made us take him to a completely different place for his final injection. Not because of money, but because we did not think the people at this hospital ever listened or cared about us and our cat who was a member of our family for over 7 years. Please check with other sources when the personnel here is recommending you treatments and blood tests and swabs and all sorts of injections and vaccines. They do not care about your pet, they are a business first, they are all sales people taking advantage of people's weakness for their pets, making you feel guilty if you do not spend money to make your pet better.
Excellent service
I am very upset. I brought my cat in to get his teeth cleaned and one tooth extracted. $1200, okay fine, I pay because I figure he is in good care... He was returned to me with bruised paws that later turned to little cuts from the razor shavings, clearly done in a very aggressive manner (they said it was from the IV the bruising but I've never seen IV marks turn to cuts after, especially not 4-5 on each paw). My cat had a slice down his back leg after begin returned to me. I noticed 5-6 days after bringing him to the vet as his hair is quite thick and I didn't want to disturb him much after his surgery. After booking an appointment with the surgeon who did my cat's dental work, they sent someone who had been working with them for TWO WEEKS to come speak to me. (who said oh maybe he cut himself at your house, to which I responded, no, he's 9 years old and has never been outside, never in contact with other animals, and there is nothing in my home so sharp to cut him in such a direct clean way, I said it looked like a knife cut, she brushed it off saying people here are so nice though) What a joke. This is a serious issue. My cat was hurt at your facility and you have failed to recognize that, so I am doing all I can by informing the public of my cats mistreatment. I have switched vets since, I will never trust you with my cat again. Your response to me says two weeks later which you fail to mention is because you could not schedule me for one week after my call. Medication was not dispensed, she gave me a disinfectant for the wound after saying she would clean and treat it herself which when she came back in the room had suddenly changed to "oh here is some disinfectant for the wound you can do it yourself at home." So sad. Anyone reading this, their response is inaccurate and tries to make the owner look negligent? My cat is family to me, it’s your facility and staff that failed to treat HIM properly (not a her). I had his wound checked that week by another vet, that agreed it looked like a cut mark, to ensure Bandit was okay. I only came back to your facility for answers, which sadly I never received. Maybe whoever responded to this genuinely doesn't know, but how scary would it be to leave this not investigated and allow further mistreatment like this by your staff. I've had cats all my life, not one had a single flesh wound until leaving them for the day at your facility. Something doesn't add up and if it was your own pet you would be angry too. Good riddance.
I love my sweet cat. And she had an unfortunate accident. The staff were amazing, and Dr Sherkey is an amazing Dr. She is up and running around now with no ill affects. Thank you
Staff is great.
I starting going to this vet clinic 4 years ago. I started off really loving it there, however the last 1.5 years I feel like they're just out to get your money! Last year they gave my cat a 3 year rabies shot, and proceeded to give him a 1 year rabies shot this year, stating that the 3 year shot really only lasts 1-2 years in cats. It was the same vet, so why would he give the 3 year shot in the first place? Their prices have also gone up. A bag of food use to cost around $50, and is now up to $70. Just not sure how much I can trust them anymore.
Carrying people

Brandy, Dexter, Sheba, Diane and Bob
Our first time visiting and it was a wonderful experience! The staff is kind and helpful and helped our cat after an emergency visit with some upset stomach issues. The vet was very helpful and answered many questions with lots of time and care. He also recommended cautious steps to take for matters like pet insurance for our particular case. Likely will be back!
Went for a pet grooming very kind and willing to listen to pet tips from pet owner.
I have been a loyal client going to Dr. Sherkey for my cats for 25 years where he started his company in the medi-trust plaza just south on Bayview. Dr. Sherkey expanded his practice in a new location just a few blocks north and I was very happy that he now had a groomer on the premises. I have been taking my 5 year old cat and 8 year old cat to Pooch Purrfection for at least 5 years. One of my cats is persian, so because she gets stressed during the grooming process, it has been recommended that I sedate her. Joanne, the previous groomer which now operates her own business called Pet Chateau, was wonderful. Because I was not too keen on having my cat sedated every 6 months, I would bring her in more frequently (every 3 months) and she would do as much as she could to unmat her. I would sedate her maybe every 9 months and then she would get completely shaved. Joanne left and the current groomer called Kelsey Thompson who is a registered veterinary Technician took over the grooming practice still under the same company called Pooch Purrfection. She came to realize that my 5 year old persian was not an easy moneymaker. I explained that I didn't want my cat sedated everytime she needed a brushing there are risks with sedation and she wasn't unbearably matted that she needed to "go under" every time. About a month ago, my cat went in for an unsedated brushing and came out with an infection on her paw caused by 2 missing nails, which happened while under her care. She explained she was aggressive and not even her assistant could control the cat. My cat's paw was bandaged up and had to be given antibiotics and every second day I had to bring her in to get her bandage changed and puss cleaned. Dr. Sherkey then tried to tell me that I will be charged for the medication they were giving my cat. I refused outright to pay anything when the mistake was all Kelsey's. She should have known when to stop, and in fact it proved to me how inexperienced she really was. Well, I never ended up paying a cent for her mistake. And so, I decided I will agree with Dr. Sherkey that from now on my cat be sedated for the grooming which would be once a year or once every 9 months. A few weeks ago, I booked my cat for a grooming. I had to meet with Dr. Sherkey to get her yearly vaccine otherwise the groomer will not groom her. OK fine, so over $100 dollars later my cat is ready for her sedated grooming appointment the following week. I get a phone call one day later from Kelsey saying "I am not willing to groom your cat any more". I was furious, I called Dr. Sherkey I told him I'm agreeing to sedation, what is the reason for not wanting to groom my cat. He told me he had no power to do anything. She runs her own business and she can refuse. Really? It seems to me that Pooch Purrfection is the same company that Joanne the previous groomer worked for. Therefore, was it really her own business? I don't think so. I believe Dr. Sherkey lied to me and that infact it is another company HE opened. Can anyone refuse work from their bosses? I certainly can't. And, he nicely took my $100 dollars for the vaccines that happened ONE DAY BEFORE. I was a loyal client for 25 years, this groomer KELSEY THOMPSON has been there since February and she could not explain to me WHY she was refusing to groom my cat UNDER SEDATION under HER TERMS AND CONDITIONS which I was agreeing to. I told Dr. Sherkey how disappointed I was at the fact that he"can do nothing". Obviously my cats, my loyalty meant nothing to him. Under Joanne, she never refused to groom my cat no matter how difficult the situation was. Here is a young, inexperienced groomer who actually got away with losing business. I am happy to say that I now bring my cats to Tower Hill Animal Hospital under the care of Dr. Pitrowski, who used to work at Bayview Hill and knows my cats very well. He is wonderful. And, I take my cats to Joanne's new grooming practice called Pet Chateau in R.Hill. So much for loyalty!
Poor care and money hungry!
Nice caring people
Great gets and fully dedicated staff
Perfect place to take your dog.
I am always happy with my Bayley's grooming. If I am not completely satisfied then the groomer will fix it. The staff here are so so friendly and I just recently had my Bayley stay overnight and felt so safe doing so!!! Thank you staff for all your great work !!
love this place! my dog always leaves happy.
I have been going here for years and the staff are always extremely friendly and helpful and I wouldn't consider going anywhere else. Both Dr. Sherkey and his daughter Dr. Rebecca Sherkey are compassionate caring vets who take the time to listen to your concerns. Highly recommend them!
This is the first time I’ve ever written a 1 star review for a business. I’ve been working in customer service and care for 20 years and It takes a lot for me to do this but Bayview animal Hospital honestly disappointed me today. Absolutely terrible communication, not willing to take blame for their mistake or even say the words “sorry” . I guess they know how to do that well in the review section though? By the way they are DOUBLE THE PRICE OF OTHER CLINICS ! They charge $395 for a 2 sided x ray , when other clinics are charging $195 And over $100 for an examination after taxes .EDITT*** They claim now in their response that it’s $260+tax for both which is VERY odd considering both my girlfriend and I, and the CLAIM SENT TO MY INSURANCE SAY OTHERWISE !!! Doctor was supposed to call me back to discuss this bad experience with me And she never did. Now I see all the other bad reviews and I guess it makes sense? I booked an appointment on Tuesday for Thursday morning to get my 2 cats checked. I called and mentioned 4 health problems, specifically: hair loss/Stud tail and weight loss for one, and a missing patch of hair above the eye and blood in the stool for our second cat who looks pregnant. We showed up, we were not allowed to go into the clinic and we were told that they would call us during the examination so we could ask any questions or concerns. We were given a phone call that was 45 seconds long, we didn’t get to ask a single question and the doctor asked us three simple questions and said that they are waiting to see if our ultrasound for the cat is covered by insurance. the meanwhile I get an email from insurance saying that the claim is not covered because it’s elective and that the examination didn’t note anything that was a health issue. I called the doctor back both my girlfriend and I are sitting in the car not knowing that our pet was even examined, she said they already did the examination.... while we havnt even had a chance to explain our concerns and the 2 issues are not even looked at. The clinic tells us “oh yea eeevee’s exam is done” I said well we didn’t even really get a call didn’t get a chance to ask a single questions we were just told we are waiting .. So the clinic failed to communicate with us about the exam being done, so they took her back in and did the exam and called us back to access the situation. They were not even willing to apologize for the miscommunication and did not at a SINGLE point in time say the word sorry. Their mistake caused us to get rejected by insurance. And insurance said all they have to do is call back and clearify the situation. And they REFUSED TO TAKE BLAME or even try to fix their clear miscommunication. They did not mention our Cats health problems because they never get us a chance to ask questions and speak to them during the exam. If they were willing to at least admit to their miscommunication and fix things by explaining things to us and our insurance company, this review would have never been written. I will make sure my friend and family never come here. This was the worst vet experience I’ve had by far.
Bayview Hill Animal Hospital .....Is "Not a Kosher Place or Practice." Giving them a single star ⭐️ is sheer generosity after the appalling way we were treated by the staff members and the Doctor/Owner in this clinic. After continued loyalty to this clinic, we learned this place was a "sham-scam" operation the hard way, finally unfortunately. The place is run by the staff and "the GOOD doctor" who is nothing but a formal face to legitimize the business. As we were covered by an excellent insurance policy. They regularly and callously squeezed money out of us, subjecting us to huge unjustified bills on each visit as the clinic opted to slip Xray's, unnecessary blood work, allergy tests, stool & urine test and anything else they could happily bilk your insurance company for, as they used psychology to engineer fears ensuring we allow the test they "RECOMMENDED." Despite tests & medications his condition got worse. Meanwhile in all suspicion we feel that they have injected saline into our animal, versus allergy medicine which is a very expensive injectable.. He suffered from what they termed 'a simple allergy,' which escalated into congenial eye infections, chronic ear infections and hives and other skin conditions, but still thousands of dollars later the clinic still had no proper diagnosis and our poor puppy simply suffered, eating antibiotics after antibiotics, injections and all the works as in anguish, we watched unable to understand the seriousness of each worsening condition as time went on. An acute condition soon became chronic very quickly to our dismay, and all due to their recklessness. Our Puppy is now under a specialists treatment and better fortunately. Unfortunately, ethics and decency do not exist in their dictionary. On one instance they took our puppy in for teeth cleaning and while he was under anesthesia, and us miles away they now demanded in two minutes we decide that we allow FOUR teeth be extracted, and it was now or never situation we were advised or else ... And we understood later when we paid the bill, "WHY" - Till date our poor little doggy suffers "as they stole even his teeth," let alone the all money out from our wallets. Bills are never correctly and honestly created or generated and the integrity of the bills is always dubious. Huge billing issues. Ambiguous and deceptive. Very - Very good staff with smiles pasted on their faces albeit that work like well-oiled machines for one purpose only to oversell, overpriced products and the doctor is like a high-end car showroom salesman operating the place with glib expertise. This place is an overpriced extorting business - It is not an animal hospital interested in securing the well-being of our little pets Even if we forgive the bills or their overcharging, misusing our credit card fraudulently, the fact that they do not respect the wellbeing of your pet, nor treat the owners with any respect, or perform services that they billed you for without performing them, as you wait outside yet have to still give them credit for one thing - Which is their UNITY as they are all so well united together in this smooth operation, like a family all packed together in this place - “A PACK OF WOLVES” (FYI - Full Marks to the Doctor for training his belligerent, deceitful staff members and his opportunistically nasty sneaky manager) “Offence is the best form of Defence is their motto.” Live and Learn - For WE are all just mere PREY. P.S. The Good Doctor will surely attempt to respond to this review with meticulously curated smooth words which will be eloquently pieced to seek only to deny or negate our review we expect, but the truth is out there before you as we like other saddened Pet Parents have spoken and we all have nothing to gain or lose from this except to ensure you know "in advance," for we all have learned the hard way unfortunately, so heed our warning folks so you know in advance. But after all what else can you expect when you enter the doors of this place and enter an "Infirmary From Hell" - .Please keep your pets safe and far away from here.
The staff and doctors at Bayview Hill are the only ones we trust with our dogs.. The services that we use include boarding, grooming and veterinary services.. they are always so kind and loving with our dogs which is of most importance to us.. We want to know that when our dogs are in their care, they are getting attention, love and that they are in the best possible place. They are also extremely understanding and accommodating to all of our needs. They listen to what we need and go above and beyond our expectations.
Always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We had a really bad experience at another vet, and were hesitant to even try another, but they are absolutely amazing!
I am reporting this vet to the College of Veterinarians of Ontario for negligence and failure to exercise the requisite standard of care expected of a veterinarian doctor. In short, this vet clinic, which is owned and operated by Dr. Sherkey, made a detrimental mistake by failing to diagnose and treat my dog’s salient illness - pancreatitis. He left my dog untreated for a very long time to the point where I was going to put her down because she was so sick and Dr. Sherkey couldn’t explain why. In a last ditch effort before euthanizing my dog I took her to another vet for a second opinion. The second vet quite easily and quickly identified the illness as pancreatitis, just with using Dr.Sherkey’s medical records of my dog. The second vet didn’t need to run any addition tests to diagnose my dog, and said pancreatitis was very clearly indicated on my dogs tests results and ultrasounds for the past year. My dog was instantly better with the pancreatitis being treated- and to think I nearly put my dog down because Dr. Sherkey couldn’t figure out what was wrong with her. Vets like this should not be in practice. After this incident and proper diagnosis by another vet, this clinic refused to admit their wrong or take any responsibility for their failures. Keep in mind that for the many months where Dr. Sherkey failed to diagnose my dog, I spent thousands and thousands of dollars at this clinic running every test to determine what was wrong with her. Either the clinic ran exorbitant unnecessary tests as a cash grab or they are very clearly negligent as veterinary doctors for missing what was clearly and evidently present in front of them. Ask yourself, is this the clinic you want treating your precious pet? If I were you, I would very much question the integrity, professionalism, character, and intelligence of Dr. Sherkey and his practice. My dog almost died because of this negligence and Dr. Sherkey will take zero responsibly nor refund any of the thousands of dollars charged for the pointless tests. Maybe he should spend less time going on vacations and taking peoples money and more time actually caring about his patients lest he pointlessly kill the next animal under his “care”. He also bribed me to write a good review in exchange for a discount so all these “good” reviews you read are inaccurate, misrepresented and misleading.
Very accomdating
My dog is not a fan of vets, but the staff of Bayview Hill Animal Hospital make him feel very comfortable during visits. The doctors are knowledgeable, the staff is very friendly and polite. Can always get an appointment if needed.
Great staff. Friendly, caring and helpful.
This vet office has come through for us time and time again, especially during weekends with their extended hours which included Sundays! Two times, it was with sick rescue kittens when we were able to get appointments right away and the emergencies were handled in a professional and efficient manner. Just this morning, we brought in a husky, who we found wandering last night. Without hesitation, they scanned him, found microchip, and would keep him, until they locate the owner. We would just like to say thank you so much for helping us and the animals in times of great need! ????????
Caring & compassionate staff. Recommend 100%
I am truly grateful for Dr. Sherkey, and his staff for all that they have done for my 8 year old pug. My dog has been a patient of Dr. Sherkeys for many years and in that time suffered from a wide range of medical ailments. If it wasnt for Dr. Sherkeys knowledge and support during many difficult times, I fear to think about the outcome. Like many dog owners, my pug is my family, and I am very careful who I place in charge of his care. I have not regretted giving that responsibility to Dr. Sherkey and his staff, not even for a moment. Dr. Sherkey is always only a phone call away if there are any questions, and goes out of his way to make himself available as often as possible. Thanks to Dr. Sherkey and his staff I have one loved happy little boy, Thanks again Bayview Hill Animal Hospital, Tristan M
Great service and and friendly staff
Sweetest and most helpful clinic! Thank you!
Great care for our overseas rescue dog.
friendly staffs and we can only drop off my pet to do annual checkup. Vet call before we drop off my pet and after checkup. She discuss everything with us and give us the quote before all tests will be given.

After many years of being a client I am still thankful for Bayview Hill Animal Hospital. Their professionalism and expertise are consistent and all work is done thoroughly and in a timely manner. Me and my pets are in good hands.
The comfort that my dog feels when he is here is unbelievable. Rebecca treats him like one of her own
Wonderful staff.
Brought two of my hamsters in for a nail trim and was extremely satisfied both times. My second boy is feisty, but they still handled him well. Though they don't medically treat hamsters, this clinic offers a nail trim at a very reasonable price - $10.
Our cat Luigi was not doing well. Not eating, not herself. My wife called in the morning to make an appointment for 2pm. She just couldn’t bring her knowing she might have to make the decision to put her down, and say goodbye. I offered to take Luigi with my daughter, who wanted to say final goodbye if needed. We dropped her off, and person who took her in said about 15 minute exam and then they would call with results. I asked if she had my phone number (I had to call from outside front doors being locked due to covid.) She said she would call the number on file. I asked please don’t- that’s my wife’s, call me, I’m here. She went in and got a post it paper and took my name and number. Daughter and I waited almost an hour before my wife called and asked why we weren’t home. I told her we were still waiting for the phone call. My wife told me they called her 40 minutes ago and said Luigi was sick and should be put out of suffering. My wife thought they had already told us (assuming that we were in the waiting room, and they just needed to call her as she was on file.) I called and asked what they’d done to Luigi. She was still alive but sedated and waiting for euthanasia. I started shaking so bad. We didn’t want to say our final goodbyes to our half dead family member. The vet came in and kept insisting he spoke to Maria and had consent to put to sleep. I don’t know who Maria is... Then he called in the assistant with the needles and started to explain that he was going to put to sleep in front of us. We nearly lost our minds I asked them to get out of the room and stop trying to tell us they had done everything right, despite the fact I gave my phone number and specifically asked they contact me after the exam. We had to say our final goodbye to our heavily sedated loved one. Such an unnecessarily traumatic experience for me and my daughter. So absolutely unprofessional. Such a terrible place to be put in. Luigi deserves to be hugged, petted and told how much she was loved prior to being sedated. We are devastated and torn.
My name is Vanda Mazza and I just want to say Doctor Sherkey is the most amazing, caring, excellent Veterinarian. He takes good care of my dog and my friend's 2 cats. He is very knowledgeable and is fantastic in what he does. He also has a great sense of humor and is very friendly. Whenever you have a concern he will always listen to you or will call you back promptly. Trust me, you won't be disappointed with Doctor Sherkey. I searched everywhere for a fantastic veterinarian and I found him and I am very content. Thank you Doctor Sherkey for your excellent work in helping my dog and my friends cats to stay healthy. Keep up the excellent job your are doing to help out my pets and other animals. Best Regards, Vanda Mazza and Joe Alfieri
As we all know vet can be very expensive when it come to diagnosis or treat our animals. The staff here is simply amazing! Caring and sensitive toward both the dogs and owners. Our 10 years old Sheppard Rottweiler as been sick for the last 2 weeks and we spend a lot of money trying to find what was wrong with her. Struggling to find what causes our dog megasophagus we were scared to had to put her down because we simply don't have enough money to keep testing and treating. They completely understood our position and manage to find solutions and advise us honestly. Bayview Hill Hospital never made us feel like they were only in for the money, they are dog owners like us and thrive to take care of your animal and make you feel like they are doing everything to help you out. Never in my dog owner life I had been taking care of like they do. They are truly the best clinic I have ever been to. 5 stars well deserved!
Took my dog in to get a wart checked out and was told it would cost over $800 to do an examination followed by a surgical removal for an additional cost. We told them we weren't going to proceed until we get a second opinion and instead, we used some apple cider vinegar to treat the wart and it fell off on its own in about a week. This place plays on your heart strings and will try to milk you for every penny with every chance they get. Really disappointing. I do not recommend.
I am very happy with Bayview Hill Animal Hospital. The staff are super friendly and Dr. Shelley and Rebecca Sherkey are both very knowledgeable.
This is definitely the best animal hospital in Toronto. The staffs are so professional and kind. They are the nicest persons with your pets. I took my kitten for neutering and the procedure was unbelievable. They told me when I come pick him up he will be in the exact same condition as I dropped him off. I was surprised when I got home he was eating playing as nothing happened. And NO CONE! Im telling you, your pets feel like home in this clinic they are so lovely with them. I would say this is the only place I trust. I just wanted to say thank you for being so responsible.
Run by people who love animals.
Friendly staff for my pooch, Paris. Great service with follow ups and convenient times for appointments with our busy schedules. Doctors take their time explaining and going over any concerns or questions we have. Would recommend bayview animal for sure! ????????
