REVIEWS OF Grant Park Animal Hospital IN Winnipeg

I had been looking for a new vet for my guinea pig, Winnie. I booked an appointment here and I’m so happy I did. The staff are unbelievably nice, caring and gentle with animals. Janelle, a vet tech I believe, showed me unbelievable kindness. I was given bad news and she and the other staff talked with me, hugged me and told me over and over that Winnie is so lucky to have me as an owner. I really needed that more than anything. Thank you Grant Park animal hospital. - Shuli

I had called 9/2/2021 when the clinic opened to bring my dog in, and they were able to get me a same day appointment. Grant Park is not my normal vet clinic, but the staff were wonderful, and my dog Benji was more than happy to take treats from the vet tech! The dr who called me during the appointment was just as wonderful. Awesome staff, covid-19 protocols in place, and very clean facility.

Efficient front office staff and Dr. Watson is a great vet to work with. He's thorough and gives practical advice.

I would provide 10 stars if I could. I have personally had many experiences with several vets Manitoba wide, and Grant Park Animal Hospital is by far the best place I've taken my dog. They took such good care of my old girl until her final goodbye. Thank you for being so compassionate and caring. They even sent me a sympathy card in the mail. Highly recommend and will always return.

Brian Wasylkoski

Absolutely cannot recommend them enough. Very quick to see my dog, even for minor issues. The best vet's in the city hands down.

Took almost 2hrs for 1 vaccine, waited in the car while my pets were likely in a kennel . Didn't get a proper history, horrible experience.

Peter Watts

Great vet clinic, Dr Watson is a extremely capable and caring veterinarian, the staff are very good, I highly recommend.

Very friendly staff

I've always thought that to be either a doctor or a vet, you need to be passionate and friendly - or get the hell out of the business!! Grant Animal hospital exceeds my expectations on both fronts. Passion and friendliness was the first thing that came to mind when I was chatting with the receptionist - which made me feel more at ease when dropping off our cat

Huge lack of communication between the Vets, the clients and the Receptionists(that's right, not Veterinary Office Assistants, not Vet-Techs; Receptionists.) Due to COVID, you rarely see a Vet. You go in, tell the Receptionists what the issue is and hope they relay the message correctly and then hope the Vet even remembers you have an appointment and what it's for. I brought my cat in for an illness that I'm told is a bacterial infection. First, they gave me an antibiotic that is flavoured for children with a syringe made 4 a horse. I asked to get something flavoured for cats and I get some oily substance oh, still no syringe that I can use and I can't get her to take it. I asked if I can get her an injection. They say yes but I will have to come back and get another one in two weeks. Fine. Two weeks later, she's not any better. I call and tell them that she has a huge lump in her neck and being that the shot isn't working that maybe we could discuss an alternative but I wanted a sample sent to test that lump for cancer. When I brought her in, not only did they not remember after I told the receptionist that I was there for a sample of that lump, but there was no discussion about treatment and they gave her a second shot anyway. So, I waited another two weeks and then I get a phone call telling me that they've ordered some antibiotics in pill form and they are there at the front desk for me to come and get them and pay $150. Nobody spoke to me about ordering pills or about giving her that second shot. I was extremely upset so I sent an email asking if they could transfer profile to another vet's office and what I was told is that they don't even know how to do that. If you have a dog I think they probably can help you but if you have a cat don't go there. They told me things like," try to hide her pill in a piece of cheese or in peanut butter." Those are things you give to dogs, not cats.

Great staff and service.

Not a pleasant experience. It left everyone wondering why the vet at Grant Park Animal Hospital would behave so strange. My dog’s ultrasound was withheld and not forward to his surgeon who has been waiting for it all week without a clear explanation why this was happening. This has delayed treatment for Bentley (my dog) as we were waiting on the ultrasound information to be able to do his surgery (my dog has major liver issues). What we do know is that there was a huge communication error made by someone in the grant park animal hospital front desk staff… because they were not aware of the services they do and do not offer and booked Bentley for something they are unable to perform. From the beginning….the appointment for the ultrasound and biopsy was researched, booked and confirmed with grand park animal hospital’s office on more than one occasion via phone (by myself and Bentley’s main vet),.. and again by me in person right before Bentley went in for his appointment. Following Bentley’s appointment, after I paid for the services I noticed it was much less than I was expecting so I asked if they did both procedures. I was told no, they don’t do that procedure here. I asked if they were sure because their office had told us many times that they do and booked us for it. The next reason they gave was that my vet didn’t ask for it in her requisition (it was included we checked). On my way home I got a call from their office and the receptionist apologized for the misinformation we had received and for wasting our time… said she spoke to the vet about everything and they are going to refund my money and again she was very sorry for the mistake and she wished she knew who we had spoken to. I thought that was a rather nice sentiment. When a week went by and the information didn’t arrive at the surgeon’s office I called grant park animal hospital to check when the surgeon could expect to receive the information and was told that their vet said because I was refunded he is not going to provide myself or the surgeon (who requested the information and did not receive a reply) with any information about the ultrasound. I was shocked and confused as to what was going on. I told her at no time did I request a refund, I was simply told that the vet was refunding me and that they were sorry for their miscommunication. I said I would head down to their office to resolve things in person and was told I didn’t need to. I guess we will never know what caused that bazar behaviour so all I can say is that I do not recommend this animal hospital and hope that you can find an alternative vet and receive better treatment than we did. Best of luck.

The staff at Grant Park Animal Hospital were really friendly, helpful and took great care of my senior cat, Midnight. He just had some ingrown nails, but they did a good job taking care of it and they were quick.

Chris Mundey

Switched over from another vet due to service issues. Was pleasantly surprised by friendly helpful staff, was greeted promptly and was happy to hear the staff knew what breed of dog I had and that it was there favourite, context my dog is an uncommon breed for Canada. Vet my prompt and very helpful, encouraged the way I handle my animals. Coming back to pick up due to COVID, staff where helpful again and stayed with my dog when he refused to go into a crate since this was a new environment with people be didn’t know. Will be coming back in the future and have made this my regular vet moving forward.

Javier Schwersensky

Caring team, reasonable fees and great follow up. My pets are happy every time we go there. Highly recommend.

Keri Hudson Reykdal

Dr Kraemer is excellent.

Linda MacKay

My dog required a check up due to pain- Covid 19 protocols in place. This is brand new animal hospital, but felt confident with our longtime vet, Dr Watson. ????

Erin Joy

I switched vets because I wanted something less commercial and more personable than my old clinic and something closer to home. BEST decision ever. Dr. Carey, Dr. Drain and Dr. Watson have all been amazing as my three cats have all had random unfortunate medical issues in a short time. They've always been able to get me in quickly when the cats are really sick, and have taken amazing care of my kitten who has an unusual medical issue. I would recommend them to anyone!

Les

Dr. Watson is the best vet we have come across. He recently opened this clinic with a few others veternarians. We are so happy for him, and grateful for the wonderful care of both the technicians and the vets themselves. Highly recommend.

Trevor Stiles

Ecstatic that this new Vet clinic has opened!!! Took one of my dogs on September 25, 2020 and was extremely satisfied with the service and the price. Have already have had my two dogs and one cat's files from another vet office.

*Best vet* I highly recommend and will be back again! Thank you for all that you do, & continue to do for my fur baby.

Short version: I've owned exotics & namely fancy rats for over 8 years, so I've been around. Great exotic vet here (Dr. Watson). Depending on what you need done and size of the animal, the prices are in the mid to lower range. Long version: There's only a handful of exotic vets in the city. Dr. Watson was closer to where I lived, so I decided to skip the longer commute and bring in one of my sick rats to see him a couple years ago. He prescribed some antibiotics for Sawyer, who was young at the time w/ respiratory issues. Sawyer stayed on the antibiotics for life and I was able to continue to refill his meds without having to run him back for more visits. No trouble, easy to refill over the phone, and SUPER appreciated since repeat vet visits for the same issue can really start adding up financially. Anyway, Sawyer went on to live 3 excellent quality years (comparable to roughly 100 years old in human years). I brought Sawyer in yesterday to see Dr. Watson for euthanasia. All staff were professional & sympathetic. I had a very negative experience in the past with another practice in the city whose front staff handled small animal euthanasia with terms like "Oh, they go into a tub and we gas them". How could you use such jarring language when someone is right there in the office getting ready to part with a companion? Cat, dog, rabbit, fancy rat, they should all be treated with respect and dignity, and I'm happy that the staff at Grant Park did that. Anyway... Dr. Watson took the time to actually explain the method of euthanasia used, and could articulate WHY it was the standard used, and why the alternative method I'd considered may not be the best choice. My only critique: it would have been the cherry on top for Dr. Watson to pop in afterwards for just one minute to give a little "hey, everything went smoothly, your pet didn't seem distressed, I'm sorry for your loss". That's not worth a star deduction though because I'm very happy with the service otherwise. I'm happy to bring any of my other exotics and future pets in to see him.

Our geriatric kitty, Peanut, was referred to Dr. Kraemer by our usual vet for an ultrasound to investigate a heart murmur. I was very appreciative and impressed by the kind, honest, knowledgeable and compassionate care she received by Dr. Kraemer and the staff of the Grant Park Veterinarian Hospital. My sincere thanks.

Bill Treble

Wonderful service, cannot say enough good things about the doctors there. They are so caring for your animal.

Greta Lankford

They were very compassionate and patient with my dog.

Jessa C

Kind, compassionate, amazing staff that will go above and beyond every time! Dr Kraemer has been our dog’s vet for years and has been nothing short of or excellent during every appointment, procedure, phone call etc.

Dr. Tim has been our vet for many years & will be for many more. Always thorough, his balance of empathy, expertise & pragmatism is perhaps what I appreciate most. When we recently had to let our 10yr old golden go, Tim was incredibly kind & gentle - can't thank him & the staff enough. They're the best.

Thank you to the staff at Grant Park Animal hospital! Today we made the never easy decision to say goodbye to our 17 year old cat Mocha. It was heart breaking, truly devastating but Dr. Drain as always (she’s been my rock a few times before) has helped us to allow Mocha to pass away peacefully & without pain. She was warm, kind and offered us as much time as we needed, we were never rushed. Erin was also so fantastic, warm and helpful! It always amazes me how such a quiet animal leaves such a loud void when they’re no longer there ????♥️

Cheryl Friesen

They spayed both our puppies. Very professional and informative. Both dogs are doing great and price was fair.

We have been with Dr. Watson for probably 10 years. He has always been very good with our babies (dogs) and us for that matter. He is very thorough and his care for animals shines through. We have never met a veterinarian we trust our babies with more.

Rick Arnaud

Very important because I know my dogs will get the best of care

Dr Kramer has been our vet for the last 7 years. He has always provided exceptional care to our dog, Logan. He explains the treatment required in a detailed yet easily understandable way. His easy going, friendly manner put us at ease right from our initial visit with him. We feel so fortunate to have found such a competent, knowledgeable and wonderful vet. Elaine & Randy Delavau

I was super impressed with all the staff! I’ve brought my puppy in other vets for itching and I’ve attended many vet appointments for family dogs but I’ve never received vet service like this! Even over the phone! It’s unfortunate that due to Covid I haven’t been able to attend any appointments with my puppy but I’m so happy with the communication I received over the phone from our vet. She was so lovely and walked me through everything and answered all of my questions. I’m confident to say that this is where my pup and I will continue to go for all appointments and I will highly suggest Grant Park Vet to all of my clients as well! Thank you to the team you made us both feel so comfortable in such uncertain times! “11/10” - Rooby
