Dr Kate Sweetman is a very compassionate person. She never rushes through exams and always takes time to explain everything. I've taken my rabbits, guinea pig, and rats to her and they all received wonderful care. The staff at the front desk are very friendly and caring as well!

This is the best vet in Windsor. It's a little pricey but you get what you pay for. Dr Kate was very careful and attentive, informative. She graduated in 2016 so she's knowledgeable and familiar with modern veterinary work. The physical exams are very thorough. She specializes in small and exotic animals. Their website is good and informative too. I brought my 4 cats there and I was worried about the price since I'm a student but they were very understanding and I was very happy with what I got for the money I spent. I recommend this vet to anyone. They have a receptionist (or 2) at the desk all the time which is awesome. No other vet I've been to can compare.

They seem to genuinely care about the animals as well. My cat and dog certainly don't like the vet but that's not because of this Vet lol. My best friend's family had to put their beloved fur baby* Mocha* of 10 years down.. This place has an amazing staff and great vet doctor. The doctor was a very polite lady that was very gentle with Mocha, showed care and respect for the situation and was also very informative. The vet techs and staff were completely understanding and were super compassionate when it came to making sure my friend's kitty Mocha was comfortable, all questions were answered and that my friend's family knew they could take all the time they needed with Mocha before and after the shots. I made MANY calls to the office about a concern I had with my baby girls and they were very patient and understanding. I was able to get them in to see Dr. Kate, she is very caring and show concern and worry. She made sure I know how to give my rats their meds and gave me extra syringes since the numbers was off easy. While waiting to pick up the girls I recommended to my bf to bring his dog here when he needs to see a vet. If I could give more than 5 stars I would have.

My first and only visit to the office was to bring in my beloved companion, Simon, to be put to sleep after 17 long years together. It was extremely difficult for me, but all of the staff here, from Paula who answered all my emails and greeted me, to Dr. Sweetman who showed such love and kindness to me and Simon, and the vet techs who helped him on his way and were really kind and understanding with me. They treated Simon and myself like family. It made an impossibly hard situation feel manageable. Thank you for helping me through this. The care you show to our smallest friends is a gift.

The most kind, empathetic, compassionate staff I have ever come across. Not just the vet herself but the entire staff was caring, helpful, and sweet. They were so informative about understanding my options for my (very old) gecko Sally, and really helped me look at them without influencing me one way or another. They also helped me to just understand her more. They were supportive of my decision when I tried to treat her, checking in with phone calls to see how she was doing. When I brought her back and I decided it was time for her to go rather than continue treatment (which was unpleasant for her and not working) they were compassionate and supportive. They were so gentle and made it okay that I was so sad about a gecko. They even went to find a little gecko-sized box for her, put her moss in with her and made a little heart to go on top! ❤️That was such a special touch

My cat has been a patient of the clinic for 20 years! My cat is a senior now and lately he needs more care. Their pricing is reasonable and service is friendly, polite and caring. It's hard handing off your pet when they are sick and you can't be with them. Staff understand and update you while your pet is inside. Great experiences with this clinic. Would recommend to pet owners.

Do not go to this place if you care at all about your small animal or larger companion. She is a vet that will treat you depending on what you look like, and take advantage of your helplessness and worrying of your fur/feather child. Make what you will of this, but I feel that she is indeed a racist. With this in mind it becomes easy to understand how she so easily objectifies small animals: She displays zero compassion and does not attempt at all to comfort you or your fur/feather child. Essentially she treats small animals as learning opportunities or objects of convenience that she can swing around and display to her shadow student from St. Clair: “Look here! Prod here! See that?” If you do not want your sick fur/feather child to be treated as a rare ornament or exotic wonder to be passed around, do not come here. If you do not want to feel utterly helpless, utterly insignificant, and utterly worthless, do not come here. If you do not want to feel like a failure of a parent to your fur/feather child, do not come here. If you do not want to receive little to zero explanation of what is actually wrong with your fur/feather child, do not come here. If you do not want to feel like you have essentially doomed your fur/feather child by choosing Dr. Kate Sweetman, do not come here. And if you do not want to have a lifetime of regret, guilt, and heartbreak from making the mistake of choosing to take your fur/feather child to Dr. Kate Sweetman, do not come here. For a vet who advertises as "specializing in small and exotic animals", she clearly doesn't know how to treat birds. Either that or she doesn't care. The other reviewer mentioned that a vet at this clinic stressed out their bird, and now Kate's inexperience, irresponsibility, and lack of concern and empathy has killed one too. She's beyond inconsiderate, and will not return your calls or messages when questioned about the possibility of her having administered inappropriate treatment. If you need to have your companion animals checked out, do NOT take a chance with this "vet".

The best Vet I've ever had! Dr Kate, Dr Jim and staff are absolutely the best in doing what is best for your pets. They truly care about your pet you, and the bill. I know they give you the best service without overcharging. Latest example, my cat Sid got his tail bit and it got infected. It was a mess. I brought him in, and they said he should stay overnight and have surgery next day $850. They called the next morning and said with the good job Dr Jim did Sid didn't need the surgery. $200 out the door. NOW THAT'S A GOOD VET!

The veterinary techs and the vet were nice, quite accommodating considering that I was not allowed in due to COVID-19 standard procedures BUT their prices were high. I paid a lot of money for that visit and not a lot was done. Other than that, by all means I recommend this veterinarian hospital if you have an exotic child or a small mammal child.

Amazing staff and vet. This was my first visit to this vet with my two dogs, and one always gets very nervous during vet visits. The staff and veterinary doctor took the time and energy to make sure my usually nervous dog was calm and happy, resulting in the best vet experience he has ever had. The person at the reception desk was extremely knowledgeable and walked me through all of my options and made the pricing transparent. Have traveled a fair bit with my dogs and have not found a better veterinary hospital anywhere.

Dr. Sweetman Sr. Was a very rude condescending man. He would bring his own dog, into the office, it would terrorize the other animals that were in the cages and if the cages animal would his or bark at his dog he would kick or bang on the cages. (This was witnessed by a family member who was helping out at the vets. To see if she would like to become a vet or vet tech.) I noticed his kids are rude and condescending if you disagree with them and their exam fee is very high! I wouldn't send anyone here for any reason!)

Loyal customer for DECADES, until the kids took over. Sweetmans daughter took THREE attempts to draw blood on my ROTTWEILER...PIN CUSHION MUCH?! When it was her time to go to Rainbow Bridge, she had to be MUZZLED AND PINNED DOWN IN HER OWN HOME because his staff (Josh) is afraid. WORST experience ever! Previously, my120lb dog Zeke was put down without all that chaos. Never again, and I've since got THREE new pups.

Brought my little rat boy in because he had a growth that needed to be removed, Dr.Kate and the entire staff were absolutely amazing! They took such great care of him and made me feel so reassured along the way. They were all so kind and compassionate, the whole surgery and recovery process couldn’t have went better. The price for the surgery was also very reasonable. I would absolutely recommend this clinic to everyone, especially for their exotic or pocket pets. Definitely won’t bring my boys anywhere else!

Left livid and in tears with the way I was treated by The male Dr.Sweetman. I don’t have a veterinary science degree, but I’ve worked in multiple shelters/rescues and amongst vets. Dr. Sweetman was nothing but condescending and rude about my health concerns for my 2 male guinea pigs. He’s not a very nice man when you disagree with his comments or suggestions that you don’t agree with. Needless to say my babies and I will never be going back. When I got a second opinion from another small animal recommended shelter after the incident at downtown vet hospital it was a totally different story and my babies are back to being 100% healthy. Wish I could give 0/5 stars for a supposedly great small animal vet...

the most basic examination fee is 101 dollars with no science involved. without using swabs in testing for specific bacteria and cultures and just a rough eyeball gas from behind the counter costs 101$ and that's just like the start pretty awful when your pet is suffering and you're trying to buy medication but you have to pay that much money for them to tell you what kind. pretty messed up industry.

If for some reason one day you feel like having your self-worth and ability to parent a companion animal questioned come here! This supposed "doctor" of vetrinary medicine will make you feel like the most incompetent, worthless peice of garbage to have have ascended on to this earth. She will accompany that by calling your feathered child a "pest." She will then go on about invasive methods and use scare tactics to gain control over the situation, as if there this is some sort of battle for power. I'm sorry but I'm a PAYING CUSTOMER. You are providing a service, if at all, the power is in the customers hands. WE PAY YOU. Remember that Kate, you may also learn how to use a phone and call back when you've been informed the bird you supposedly "treated" has just DIED. Thanks a lot! :) Hope you enjoy making money from death, why not work at a slaughter house?

Her staff are also knowledgable and friendly. I recommend Dr. Sweetman over many other vets in the city who don't take the time to determine what is wrong with your pet. This has been my experience.

Healing Life

The staff at this clinic are phenomenal. New to Windsor, I called several places to inquire about 1st exams for my 2 cats. I'm here due to my father's demise.. Downtown Vet Hospital was the only clinic to acknowledge & offer empathy for my father's passing. It meant a lot, and after my visit today, their vet "Kate" was amazing & Josh was really kind & truly helpful. 5 STAR treatment!! So grateful, and cats are happy too!

First off, Dr. Kate Sweetman is very good. Ive been taking my ferrets there for years. However recently, I had an incident Im not happy about. I brought my ferrets in for a check up and approximately a week later noticed they had fleas. Seeing as my ferrets do not go outdoors and have no contact with other animals, the most probable explanation is that one of them picked up a flea at the clinic. I called to notify them and was told that however likely it was they picked up a flea from the clinic, it is also possible I myself carried a flea into my home via my clothing. *insert laugh* I mean, come on people. The probability of that happening is extremely low. But by saying this, they absolve themselves of any responsibility and in the end, I had to pay 150$ for flea medication for both ferrets. As a loyal customer, this seemed shady and unfair. I will continue taking my ferrets to Dr Sweetman because she provides good care but just a warning for those of you taking your pets to the clinic during flea season.. try to limit their movement when youre there to minimize the chances of your pet contracting fleas and then having to pay out the whazoo.

I wish I could give zero stars. I wish i could remember the name of the older gentleman who looked at my senior cat. My regular vet was not available and this place was highly recommended to me by my neighbor but I could not be more disappointed. I brought my cat Loki to you on Wednesday Feb 2 with symptoms like head tilting, loss of mobility, loss of appetite and her left ear seemed to be really bothering her. This vet bearly glanced in her ears before telling me they were dirty but she was fine and recommended I get blood work done to be sure. He looked at her for all of five minutes, and hardly answered my questions. I felt he was trying to be in and out as quickly as possible. His recommendation after the blood work was a high protein chicken diet. He told me my cat was probably just allergic to what I was feeding her. I ended up having to take her in to the emergency vet a week later (Wed Feb 9) as her symptoms rapidly worsened and she collapsed. She was diagnosed there with an inner ear infection and hospitalized. She had severe swelling that's was putting pressure on her brain. She had all but lost the use of her front legs. And had hardly eaten those last few days. She was in bad shape and I was told she might not make it through the night, she's old and was so weak. My old girl pulled through by shear will and made it to the morning, she's now on several medications but she's slowly getting better. I was able to take her home today Feb 11, but I was told her mobility may never be what it once was. I almost lost a beloved family member. This trip to the emergency vet ended up costing me over 1200 dollars. All this because your vet discarded my concerns. Because he couldn't get out of the room fast enough. This never should have happened.

Approximately 1 1/2 months ago, I brought my 36 YEAR old cockatiel to see Dr. Kate. He had fallen off of his perch, and was having difficulty climbing back on. After a VERY thorough and gentle exam, Dr. Kate discovered he had severe arthritis in his back, along with a broken wing. She carefully went through options what might be able to be done, but said his age and physical issues may not be to his advantage. This was said with a fantastic bedside manner. At no time did she speak to me like I was illiterate, nor was she racist. Calling out the race card, without any validation, does not reflect well on that finger pointing. Also, some haters out there do not understand the complexities of dealing with creatures...fur or feather. By the way, Dr Kate has returned EVERY one of my inquiries, not once ignoring my concerns. Even going so far as to say to me "There are no stupid questions"
