We have been seeing Dr. Kortschak for three years; she came highly recommended to us by a veterinary nurse from another clinic, she says it is the only place she takes her four-legged family members :) I now understand why. Dr. K. has always shown patience, understanding and a great deal of sincerity especially when dealing with my daughter who would love to become a vet and dotes on her cat like she is her own flesh and blood. For me, I believe, what impresses me the most, I once picked up a stray dog running on a busy street and brought it to Dr. K., they identified it, contacted the owners and kept the dog safe, at no charge to me or owners who lost their dog. We need more people like this in the world!!

I wanted to add a NEW one to thank all staff members so much for taking such compassionate and gentle care of BraveHeart, who is now visiting you every second day for subcutaneous fluids to treat his advanced kidney disease. This is a difficult process for us all - humans and BraveHeart! - and the extra TLC and patience with BraveHeart are so appreciated. THANK YOU. -------------------- We recently moved and needed to find a veterinarian(s) for our precious BraveHeart. We went through many online reviews of several facilities in our area and decided to choose South Surrey Veterinary Hospital based on exceptional reviews. We are so glad that we choose this place. Both Dr. Kortschak and Dr. Meagher are phenomenal, displaying grace and compassion not only to BraveHeart but to us - the Guardians. We have met with both doctors and each is extremely knowledgeable, answered our questions/concerns with such patience (thank you!), and took the time to fully comprehend BraveHeart's needs. We've also had opportunities to meet several staff members who are always smiling and very helpful. The obviously have a genuine love for animals! The entire facility and all its' members (including the "Clinic Support Team" made up of adorable resident furry friends!) work together flawlessly and it shows in a positive light. We would definitely recommend South Surrey Veterinary Hospital to tend to your precious pets - they definitely would be in compassionate and competent hands. <3 <3 P.S. YES, we are crazy animal lovers and just HAD to post a pic of our debonair BraveHeart!

I've been a long time customer for years. Spent thousands of dollars on my pets here . My pet Chinese water dragon was 17 years old got very sick, all's I wanted was for them to euthanize him. We told them he was suffering greatly they said no they don't do that can't help you. We phoned a vet that we never had any ties to he said bring him in and we will take care of it. A pet is a pet and if they cared enough about people and they're pets south surrey vets should have responded to the needs of our suffering pet. I will no longer be a client and will tell anyone I know not to go there. Shame on you.

My dog is not comfortable with the vet but the doctor took things slow and made sure he was comfortable and provided excellent care. 5 stars here and if you live in South Surrey and want a good reliable vet, this is your place. Has literally saved my dogs life 2X now. Our little girl has a condition called IMHA, where her immune system attacks her red blood cells, without Dr. K and the South surrey vet staff's quick detection, action and dedication she would not be here today. If looking for a vet where staff sincerely care for your critter as if they were their own, this is the place to go. I will never take my dog anywhere else.

My experience was warm and welcoming. My kitty had stomach cancer and I had to put him down. I had him at this other horrible vet (apollo vetranary) in cloverdale which strang me along. It's like a sweat shop in that old building. The price couldn't be beat, I called about 15/20 places. Also the room that they give you for euthanasia is very calming and wonderful for your last moments with your furr baby. They even wrapped P.spices arm in a a cute heart bandage. The staff was so amazing with hugs and compassion on how hard it is too say good bye.

I took my female black cocker Dallas to the vet. Reception was great & took info then got Dr. Jen who checked Dallas out, then injected shots as necessary. Jen was kind, did not push any unwanted care or services. She was thorough . The facility was clean and all of the staff were friendly and gave you a sense that they were there to service your pet and made you feel welcome. The best part was, the cost of the service was reasonable. So happy my daughter, Karen, mother of Maple, told me about South Surrey Veterinary Hospital & I will certainly be taking Dallas back, when it is time for further investigation or treatment.

Great service, but *be wary of hidden fees*!! The staff are fantastic. We were greeted by a very friendly person at the front desk, and the Dr. Laura Kortschak saw our dog Lola after about 5-10 minutes. Our dog had a small scratch on her side; it was bleeding, so we thought it'd be a good idea to have it looked at. Dr. K. started looking at it, and innocuously asked if she could shave around the area to get a closer look. I said, "Sure!" She took our dog to the back, and returned about 2 minutes later. She said that it was indeed just a scratch and just to let it heal. I then was handed a bill for over $80. They charged me close to $20 just to shave around the cut. Although I'm ok with paying extra fees, I like to know about them first. I don't know if I would come back to this clinic because of this.

Very friendly staff and took amazing care of my dog. We admittedly were not able to take him to the vet for years and I was anxious about being judged as a bad parent, but the staff was so kind and the vet was wonderful.

It is more than great skill, isn't it? It about the compassion that Dr. K. had the day I heard, from Dr. Jen, the update on my BeanBean. I went outside to compose myself and the next thing I knew Dr. K. was standing next to me with open arms to give me the much needed hug. She gave me permission, in that moment, to be me. She told me in that moment that she knew my soul. No words, no need to give me false hope Just the hug I needed. Dr. K and I go back a long way. She knows me well :) Oh, and Dr. Jen? Well, there is something about her "tell-it-like it is" way that I adore She has always treated me with wonderful respect, humour and honesty. She brightens my day when I go there. How she does that, when the news she has to give me is often so difficult to take, shows what a people person she is. The tech staff? I love that they seem to care a little more about BeanBean than his owner!! You understand that BeanBean is a X-Shep... who could lick you to death. As Bean's days are now severely numbered I will need all their skills, help and understanding in the coming months.

I just moved to the city and am in need of a new regular vet close to home. After reading all of your reviews here on Google, I decided to give South Surrey vet a call. From the first interaction when I called to schedule an appointment, to the last interaction I had, both my dog and myself felt the need to write our own review based on our experience. The vet tech at the reception area is kind, friendly and knowledgeable. We had our appointment with Dr. K - and could tell right away that she is an animal lover. This put my dog at ease and me very comfortable! Her interaction with my pooch was extremely lovable and approached him with kindness. Dr. K also took the time to explain things to me in a way I could understand. I am glad we have found South Surrey Vets (Thanks Google Reviews!) and I would recommend anyone new to the area or with a new pet to check them out.

Dr. K has been the best Vet I have ever had. She puts me at ease with her knowledge and thorough explanations. She will test your animals properly, without excess. She really cares for pets. I lost my cat due to poor care from North Bluff Animal Hospital and I was immediately treated with kindness and respect here. She understands why I’m so concerned about my remaining pets. The receptionists can seem either overwhelmed or not always so chatty, but they’re not rude or anything. They do their best to fit me in as soon as possible and I really appreciate that. Parking is ample. Yes the vet exam fee is higher than normal, but the follow up phone calls and low prescription costs balance it out. You truly get what you pay for.

We’ve been bringing our two dogs here since we got them in April and August of 2019. We left our previous vet due to a move, but more importantly due to their lack of care for our previous dog - we felt like we were just $$ to them. That is NOT the case at SSVH. Dr Jen tends to our dogs most of the time, and she, the other vets, and the rest of the staff at SSVH are always so kind and compassionate, and they treat our dogs like their own. We have a very nervous and fearful rescue Chihuahua who is showered with adoration every time she has to go for shots or a check up - they keep her so calm! HIGHLY recommend this vet hospital.

Truly, you cannot find a more competent vet than Dr. K. We've seen many vets and specialists and never found a vet with a keener talent for diagnostic medicine than Dr. K. Shes very emphatic and caring, and -- most importantly -- she really knows her medical practice!

Jackie is a great groomer, especially when it comes to our Newfie cross, Odin. Not many groomers are willing to take on such a large dog (145 lbs), and few of those that do are capable of properly cleaning all the fine fur out. Jackie nails it. Then Turner hates being groomed, but he always comes out clean and happy. Docs are good too, and will answer questions without a credit card number in hand. Not to many vets do that either.

Took my dog Nike here for the first time this past weekend, as I recently moved into the area and needed a new vet. The experience I had was fantastic from the moment I got there! The lady who took in my dog was very professional, kind, and reassuring (it is always scary to give your dog to a stranger). They had Covid practices in place that made you feel very safe. I was told that the vet would be calling me after my dog's appointment, due to Covid, but shortly after Dr. Jen came out herself holding my dog to introduce herself since it was my first time there! Dr. Jen was very friendly and I could tell she put a lot of effort and care into making sure my little guy was healthy. I am so thankful I found a vet that I can trust!! Thank you guys for the amazing service!!!!

***EDIT - Dr. K reached out to my partner and I taking accountability and apologized for these incidents. I am changing my review only for this as I do appreciate her reaching out. Unfortunately this still occurred so I won’t be removing this post. Long story short we moved from Vancouver to South Surrey and had to find a new vet. This place had wonderful reviews so we thought how could we go wrong? After our first initial visit we were very satisfied and thought the vet was friendly and knowledgeable. As owners we trust our vet to let us know when our vaccinations are due for our dog (we sent whatever information they had requested from our previous vet + they could of called and confirmed anything they wanted). Our dog's vaccination refresh date came and left without any correspondence from our vet. We just assumed that he is up to date on his vaccinations until we checked his paperwork as we were getting concerned that last he had gotten them was over a year now. When we called and asked them why they never sent out reminders they told us their systems had crashed or updated (I can't remember the specific reason) and they lost his files. I asked "why didn't you call to let us know the files were lost etc. We could of just sent whatever you needed." No response to that. We take him in for the vaccinations he was due for in July in August (1 month late) and again assume everything is done correctly. We are once again satisfied. TODAY (Dec 16th 2020) I go to take my dog to a daycare and they inform me he doesn't have his rabies vaccine to my shock. I call our vet again and ask them "what happened as when we came in last we asked to ensure our dog was up to date." The administrator kindly explained that unless we SPECIFICALLY request the rabies vax they won't do it. Which no one had informed us about, and again as we are NOT the experts in pet care we trusted our vets office to be the ones to inform us. Lesson learned here. All in all we will not be returning. The staff is nice I will definitely admit to that much and I understand human errors occur, however, twice is too much for us to risk our dog's health. I wouldn't accept this negligence from my own doctor so why would I do the same for our dog.

The only vet clinic that is actually able to do my difficult dogs nails. They have very well kept facility, very clean and fully stocked. They can handle walk in emergencies and I would highly reccomend if you need a regular vet or emergency vet care that you give them a call and meet their great team of knowledgable staff and doctors!

Dr. K and the rest of the staff are very professional and passionate. They take care of my American Eskimo and my Ragdoll cats. The initial exam fee is a bit higher than some places, but everything else is less. The medication, surgery etc. all extremely reasonable. Worth going 100%. I've never felt this comfortable taking my pets anywhere before. I appreciate their transparency. I feel as though they have my pets best interest at heart. It's very hard to trust anyone these days. I can't say enough great things about these vets and their staff. They are extremely thorough, professional, compassionate, kind and empathetic. I truly believe through their care, I was able to enjoy an additional 4 happy and healthy years with my 20 year old cat. I dropped in on 5 vet hospitals in my neighbourhood to try to pick one. SSVH was the only one that took me for a tour of the facilities and explained the way operations were done. I was impressed. The care we receive for all of our pets is superior and I recommend these vets to everyone I know, and every stranger I see walking a dog. They are also very reasonably priced and offer options for financial solutions that work for you. I was very grateful that they were able to come to the house to put my cat down. We were in a cramped space and they totally accommodated it. Both vets are also great huggers!!

We recently moved here and I researched vets in the area. South Surrey Vet Hospital had great and recent reviews so we had our dogs checked up there and was happy to see that the vets and staff are great. Both my boys needed their teeth cleaned and I'm so happy with the diligence and care the team provided, especially to my oldest that needed an extensive cleaning. Its nice to see they include things like check ups after dental cleaning as well as nail clipping with our appointments if the dogs need it. The prices are very reasonable too, in my opinion.

From our slightly pudgy Norwich's to our youngest of kittens, they provide us and them with their expertise and compassion. My family has been taking our pets here since I was a child. Since moving out on my own I continued to bring my cat here since I knew he was receiving such great care. Just recently I had to make the hard decision to put my cat to sleep and the support and compassion that was shown to me and my wife was tremendous. Both Dr. K and Dr. Jen are fantastic, as are the rest of the staff. When we are ready to have another cat I will absolutely be coming here despite it being quite far away from my house. I am very grateful to the staff here for the great service and care they have provided to my family for years.

Terrible service and rude staff. Showed up a few minutes early and was told I was too early for my appointment, I guess they don't like their waiting room to be used? Vet was rushing out the door as I was trying to talk, definitely not a place you would want to spend money. I recommend taking your pets somewhere else, all these people want is to book another appointment with you. They aren't there to help.

In a world where a high level of service, professionalism and skill is more and more rare, it is a breath of fresh air when you can still find these things and even have your expectations exceeded. Our little dog had a serious problem and we didn't know what it was. I was not even an existing customer. Dr. K fit us in promptly, she spent more time with us being very thorough, caring and explaining things to us, than I would have expected. She followed up with us and did extensive diagnosis very quickly. I couldn't be happier with the service and expertise we received.

Just came back from our first visit to Dr Jen Meagher. She is simply AMAZING. Dragging in our 2 1/2 yr old golden retriever first, she didn't insist on lab tests or anything and said he only needed a mild cream on his ears. Maybe lose 10 lbs lol. Then next a cat. Our momma cat is a witch and she laid back and let the lady weigh her and give her a needle without even a struggle. I wish she was like that with us. Next the worst of them all. Our 20 lb meatball cat. He is not a people person and will usually growl at everyone. OMG, he flopped down in front of her and totally loved her up. He had lumps on his back and we were worried it would break the bank. No lab tests, no biopsies, no expensive "I have you here now so we will run every test on your pet" kind of crap. She dealt with all of our pets with prompt, loving and kind care. I have never found someone like this whom I respect soooo much. I highly recommend her!!!!!! Thank you Dr. Jen xoxo PS. We have been taking our 4 legged loved ones to SSVH since we moved to BC in 1995 and when we rescued our most recent furbaby there was never a doubt that he would not follow suit. Dr. Laura and Dr. Jen are simply AMAZING and the staff are always friendly and incredibly supportive. We appreciate their wisdom, their direction.and have truly appreciated a shoulder when much needed.. We are blessed to be a part of the SSVH family.

I took my pooches in for a much needed dental treatment, They explained very clearly what would likely need to be done along with an estimate. I was expecting it to be higher, but imagine my surprise when it was less! BUT, most important, my dogs, even my rescue pooch, were as happy as one could expect. We lost our old and faithful black lab this year and losing a loved companion is very difficult. Thankfully, Dr. Kortschak (affectionately referred to as Dr. K) was there with Hunter and me at the end. I have never seen a doctor show such warmth and compassion, not only for our dog Hunter, but also for me and my family. She and her colleague Dr. Meagher and all their support staff provided excellent professional care to Hunter for over ten years. We now live on Vancouver Island, however I wanted to offer this parting testimonial to anyone looking for a pet health care provider… South Surrey Veterinary Hospital is definitely five star!
