The best and friendliest staff I've met. Would definitely recommend and have to anyone who needs a vet.
The place to go to if you have an exotic animal. Always go there when my teddy bear hamsters are sick.
I went there with an emergency after another vet had mistakenly told me nothing was wrong. They knew the problem immediately after a physical exam and gave him treatment right away. There were severe complications afterwards but they were patient and fair. They always kept me informed. To solve the case, they brought in a specialist. What I really appreciate is that they really seem to care about your pet. They welcome you and listen to your concerns whole-heartedly. The vet techs are also supportive and you can tell everyone is hardworking. Thank you for saving Shadow.
Kind, caring and always available
Best primary care, full service companion animal hospital in the region. Very accommodating, experienced and knowledgeable veterinarians. Worth the drive.
We take our puppy here and the staff are always nice.
Dr. Tahir is a great Vet! He had the solution and he we both friendly and professional. Will return!
Appreciate all the care !
Best care done for your loving pet
They are very friendly and easy to work with as their communication is amazing. They certainly love what they do.
Super friendly and helpful took good care of my dog:)
Only reptile pet hospital I trust. Treated very quickly, very knowledgeable staff.
Wonderful compassionate service and a very cute cat works the front desk.
ZERO OUT OF FIVE Took my bun there and they didn't tell my why she lost fur and why she has scabs. Just made me buy antibiotics. Very unhelpful vet. They were rough with bun, told me I wasn't holding her right and feeding her the wrong hay. PLEASE ALL BUNNY OWNERS TELL ME IF YOU DON'T FEED YOUR BUN TIMOTHY HAY???? Ridiculous. I booked an appointment for today to get her spayed and when I brought her in for the exam last week and too look at this they told me I had to wait 10 days to see if this will clear up before I get her spayed... then this morning I get a call asking where I was? Ugh? Maybe communicate with your vet a little more. Really not impressed. Will be going to a different vet from now on.
These vets really care!
Our cat became very ill from a urinary blockage. With the help of the veterinarian and techs, he is now fully recovered. They are open later at night han any other vet I've seen, which works with my schedule. They are willing and able to help you. We asked for help giving our cat pills. They told us to come in, and showed us how to properly pill a cat, no cost to us. Around a great vet! Shadow is now their regular customer!
I brought my pet rat in for a abcess drain (80 for appointment plus 50 for abcess drain without anesthetic) and was originally quoted 110, INCLUDING the medication. So I said, sure that seems fine, I was actually okay with the price. Then come time to pay after being given the medication (mixed and onky usable for a rat) I was told that I needed to pay 225? This place only wants money. The looks I also got from the staff were also very unwelcoming. Not sure what I did to warrant that but yeno, 1 star because this place sucks.. to bad it's the only small animal hospital in Kitchener that treats rats. They also told me that fish Moxy was not suitable for rats... Like ???? amoxicillin is the same thing across the board... they also gave her medicine in the lab without my consent.. I'm not happy with this place. Next time I'm just going to suck up the 17 dollar train ride and go to Guelph.
Really good vet and good price package.
Got me in last minute on Wednesday, thank you!
Our cat was sick this past week so we took him in and they were very gentle and would never handle him without asking first. When they wanted to do some blood work, they always asked and gave us the quote first for us to look over and okay it. I did find, at times, it was a bit difficult to understand the vets due to their strong accent but all in all, I wouldn't let that deter my decision to take my pet to them. And although the cost of the visits, the tests and the meds can be expensive, you can't put a price on your pet, they are family.
They're good at the healthcare aspect, I've lost a pet and they were very nice about it and helpful, with my new dog though, we boarded him for about 9 hours because I couldn't feed and walk him due to work and they didn't feed him his dinner which was labelled and marked with time. Would have taken under 30 seconds to empty into a bowl and they cited being too busy. Unimpressed with that but other than that it's good
Great service! My dog did the neuter surgery last week and they call a lot of times to ask about my dog after the surgery. They are responsible and professional.
They prescribed my hedgehog the wrong medications and diagnosed with her with something that she did not have and my hedgehog ended up passing away because of it. I am extremely heartbroken because of this vet. Absolutely unacceptable. They over charge and are extremely rude. They are the only small animal hospital but next time I get a pet, I am going to Guelph. I wish I could give 0 stars. Absolutely terrible experience. Do not come here if you love your pet.
I swear this one of my favorite animal hospital, my wife runs a rescue for small animals, and when things go wrong this is our first place we go to, with this hospital hours are really good, Its just one less stress to know that they are open late, most of the times stuff happens after 6pm! There warm welcome as we walk in, the staff here are simply amazing. We appreciate all the work they do. They don't rush us out the door once the visit is over, the doctor comes into the room, they let us ask any question that we might have big or small. Keep up the amazing work Waterloo West Animal Hospital!.????????
I unfortunately had a very negative experience with this veterinary clinic. The staff provided us with very inconsistent information and did not even have cohesive information amongst themselves - meaning that different staff members would tell us different things (e.g. how to properly collect pet samples to check if our pets are healthy). In addition, they missed major signs that one of our pets wasn't healthy which you do not expect when you're paying an incredible amount of money for basic services. Upon seeing reviews, we had high expectations of this clinic; however, I am more than disappointed to say that it was a major let down. Please save yourself the trouble my family and I had while our pets were seen here. My advice: go to another clinic where your pets will receive adequate care.
The ladies and gentlemen at Waterloo West Animal Hospital are absolutely amazing! We had to have surgery on our pug and they got us in the same day and back home that evening. Pugger has healed very well. This is now our animal hospital of choice!
The amazing people at this animal hospital, with their quick and calm reactions, were the reason that my dog is still alive today. Thanks so much guys!
$175 dollar bill to euthanize a dwarf hamster. That’s ludicrous! Stay away from this money grabbing place. Also very rude while in the process. They just want to examine your wallet, not your pet. Stay away.
Excellent veterinary clinic! Staff are friendly and efficient. Very easy drop off and pick up. Highly recommend taking your furball here.
Always good service
So kind and gentle with my dog. Very knowledgable, and did a wellness check call on KC to make sure he was doing well. Very professional and caring❤
Horrible Clinic ,they by far overcharge ! Staff’s attitude here is absolutely disgusting . Don’t bother wasting time here . Find a vet and a team that actually cares about you and yours . This place is all about money , staff lacks professionalism and the Vet . I’d like to second guess where his license is from .
Excellent service, and compassionate. I wish I lived closer so they could be my primary vet.
I have a special needs dog and they were able to see her very quickly during an emergency. I am grateful for your professionalism and helping us out during an extremely stressful time.
All of the staff at Waterloo West have been wonderful with me and the dogs and cats that I have brought to them over the 15 years I've been with them. They are truly compassionate when it comes time for a pet's final visit and have given good advice about how to manage health issues that come with the senior years.
Used it years ago but still have such horrible memories of how they delt with my 17 year old Bichon, rude and zero compassion and when I asked to speak to the manager, as my dog was just in for a haircut that day, they said NO! 8 hours for a haircut!! Unacceptable. Stay away.
I am so grateful for saving my dog's life. My Chihuahua swallowed a needle and we came to the clinic an hour before closing, I was so stressed! Thanks to doctor and all staff for staying and making successful surgery, for being patient and professional. They also provided amazing after surgery care and support.
great, friendly staff you can trust to care for your pets
Great customer service
The vet and the assistants/reception were all so friendly. Their covid measures are great and we felt safe. Appreciated when the vet came outside to talk with us (masked of course) instead of just a call.
These lovely folks always treat me and my dog with the utmost respect and professionalism. All the vets and technicians are wonderful and treat my dog with a gentle touch. Their grooming services are amazing, and their 'express cut' service is invaluable as my dog isn't the best in cages/crates. Out of all the veterinarians we've been to, they are far and away the best.
I had such a good experience here! I took my 9 year old mini rex bunny and the whole team was really fantastic! Not every vet is rabbit savvy, but these guys were really knowledgeable. They fit me in within the week and had a great contextless, COVID- friendly experience.
Amazing staff!
We took our budgie here, and they are currently taking care of my sick elederly dog. They have excellent staff and great doctors who care about your beloved pet. Also, they are open until midnight in case of emergencies after hours. Thank you, Waterloo West!
Very helpful
Drove from London for an emergency no London vet would deal with. Absolutely phenomenal service. Extremely professional and eager to help a dog in need.
The vet is only interested in your money not in your pet. Expensive, poor care, and poor knowledge. Never go to this vet. One star is too much.
Best doctor and staff
went last night cause my dog needed stitches and they were very good and gentle with my dog...very friendly and will follow up on him
First, this place has AMAZING customer service! It's always to nice to walk into a clinic to find friendly smiles and hospitable service. I took my cat to Waterloo West Animal Hospital last week for her annual shots, which was a very smooth process. I didn't have to wait to get her in, and the vet was quick and informative. I also inquired as to what food is preferable to feed a slightly overweight cat, and the vet and staff were able to give me some healthy and affordable choices.
Convenient hours. Great advice. Rooms could be a little cleaner.
Very professional, compassionate, and were able to fit us in when no one else could; even our own vet.
The absolute worst. If you care about your pet, take it somewhere else.
We appreciate the whole team! Megan and Justin are super kind and have an amazing approach with our fearful Jack Russell xoxox
They were so amazing with my baby girl. I came in last minute and they fit me I'm checked baby and made sure he left was ok. You can tell they really care!
Very compassionate understanding they treat the animals with dignity and respect I have brought both of my pets there and I will continue to bring them there.I couldn't ask for a better place to bring my pets. They also have called several times to check on my pets health and to see how I'm doing. FAMILY DOCTORS DON'T EVEN DO THAT!!!...Thank you very much for being there for us! I highly recommend Waterloo West Animal Hospital to take care of our furry friends. Thanks again ????????
Helpful, considerate staff.
Waterloo West Animal hospital has been a life saver since I moved to the area. They have helped me through my dog being sprayed by skunks to yearly allergy issues. Always so polite and so helpful. Definitely a one stop shop for any pet owner!! Thank you for helping me through all of my pets issues...big and small!!!
I originally sought out Waterloo West due to some trouble with one of my birds. They were amazing with him, always keeping me informed, and you could generally tell they cared. We now use them for all our birds and our new puppy. I'd have no problem recommending them to anyone.
Every time I go we are waiting no more than a couple minutes before my cat is taken in. They are all so wonderful and kind.
Once they were very good, but in recent years, have been taken over by vets more interested in money than the animals. They overcharge on meds, food, etc. We were left waiting at a morning appointment when the vet was 45 minutes late coming in. They are open very late, but only a receptionist is on duty after hours. If the situation is serious, they call a vet and get instructions, often to go to the Emergency Clinic (which I do recommend). Not worth using if you care about your pet.
They take great care of all kinds of pets but their care of my guinea pigs is especially careful and excellent. They are classed as exotic so it is hard to find a vet at all little lone one who takes such care
Staff is nice. They are nice to my dogs. Had a problem with one of the vets there, but the reat of the staff is great.
Love the staff and the vets are knowledgeable. They helped find out what our puppy was allergic to.
Way more expensive than their sister clinic Huron East Animal Hospital. But the staff was friendly and professional. Though I can't say I'll be going back unless it's an emergency.
Exceptional customer service and they are not even my regular vet.
I have brought all three of my little guys to WWAH. All have been extremely positive experiences. Yesterday, I had to bring my dog in due to an allergic reaction to his medication. They were absolutely fantastic with him, and kept him calm and happy throughout the day. I highly recommend bringing your pets here!
The vet and staff are very attentive! They received us very well! I recommend!
They are amazing with our miniature pinscher. She gets beyond stressed out when at the vet clinic. She is like a fish out of water. We have had her to many different vets over the years and I finally feel very confident in the care she is receiving here. I highly recommend them!
They always take really good care of my babies. ????
Everyone here is so sweet!
Rabbit savvy vets with the cutest receptionist cat ever. Always super helpful and knowledgeable, and they don't charge ridiculous fees. Bonus: Need a vet that's open late? You got one in them.
Thanks for helping Chance, very kind of you!
Very nice
Great service and down to earth Vet and Vet Tec's and assistant's!!! I went with my Bearded Dragon's to get looked at, very knowledgeable and took the time to explain and go thru option's and results!!! Definitely would take my Dragon's back to them if anything was to happen in the future!!!!
Excellent staff and care
Dr.Padmini is the best doctor, she is so friendly and compassionate towards animals.
I've been going here since my puppy was 7 weeks old. Staff are always very friendly professional and very compassionate towards animals. Every time I've gone in staff are knowledgeable and upfront with you about pricing and options available to you. Will continue coming here as long as I have pets. Also appointment times are very flexible and very quick service usually within a day or two.
They are great group of vets. Always taken care of all our pets.
Everyone is really nice here and they're very gentle with the animals.
Friendly staff, clean
I don't think this place deserves any stars so one is the second best thing I could do. A few weeks ago I brought my cat there and they said that it was a common sickness that would go away quickly. but as we gave her the meds she was on, she did not get any better. so I took her again for blood tests and not only were they giving the WRONG MEDICINE but she had two parasites. they did surgery on her to remove them. as the weeks went on my cat got worse. we had to take her in so they could force feed her. a few days ago my cat could not walk and would not fight me for taking her meds. so took her in and they said they would watch her over night because her temperature was low as well as her blood sugar. the next morning I called them to check up on my cat only to hear them say she DIED. and after I went to look at the reviews and there is one almost exactly the same as mine. never go here it is a waste of precious time.
Took good care of our critter.
I've been using this vet for my pets for 5 years. We love the vets here, they are very caring and kind. The technicians are wonderful and supportive. Highly recommend. (My cat still doesn't approve)
The vets and techs at this clinic go above and beyond in every situation. I cannot thank them enough for the care and attention they have given my cats (and me!) as we've gone through a difficult illness. They've answered all my questions, endured countless phone calls with more questions, and kept me updated the moment they had more information through the whole ordeal. I highly recommend Waterloo West!
Amazing service, they were so understanding and kind to me as a poor student who's cat needed a check up and some medication. You always get stereotypes about vets overcharging but here you won't get any of that. I highly recommend them. Thank you for putting the health of pets first!
Great staff. We woke to our dog seeming very sick. The clinic took us in right away and withing a short time they had our dog feeling much better. Very professional yet extremely friendly and go out of the way to make the animals feel comfy.
Really friendly staff and are very caring towards my bunnies! :) Also, they are very accommodating with appointments and they always call back few days after an appointment to check in.
I have easily spent almost $3000 here this summer. I had an emergency with my cat, and we discovered he had fluid in his chest. Which they were able to stabilize him, and clear the fluid. Which is not a good outlook, they recommended a heart ultrasound which not gonna lie was pricy but worth it for a frame of mind. I also have two skinny pigs, both vets specialized in small animals, one saved my guy completely when he stopped eating by recommending a product that helped his system not shut down, and both vets have always been helpful. The staff is sympathetic, they care and you know the second you bring your animals in, not only do you get treated great but so do your pets. I recommend this clinic to everyone.
They take in any animal including my pigeon when she was sick. Nice people and very helpful.
They are very good and reasonable. They haven't tried to pressure us into getting lore testing when we didn't want it. Very affordable and knowledgeable.
Very courteous, empathetic, hardworking and helpful staff. The veterinarians are through and friendly as well. I thought it was especially sweet when Melissa called to follow-up on my pup the next day.
They are very good about getting their animals in as fast as they can! They always try to do tests that are not as expensive but still working! And every time I've gone they've given me a discount. They are always incredible when it comes to giving advice over the phone as well! I can always call when I have a question and they always do their best to help! My only complaint is that the wait time can be a little long, but you have to understand that you wait a little for them cause they are a smaller hospital.
Prompt and caring. The staff was beyond friendly and supportive.Thank you Dr Sam :)
We had a cat with kidney failure who needed regular attention for more than a year. Every time we took him in, the staff was welcoming and compassionate. He spent two Christmases with them when we had to leave town, and he was always well cared for. When it came time to put him down, the staff were understanding, and never pushed or rushed us to a desicion. We even received a lovely sympathy card the week after with notes from the staff.
Best vets in the city. Hands down. Highly recommend.
DO NOT GO TO THIS VET!! Dr. Padmini ONLY cares about money, not your pet. PROOF from experience; 2 yrs ago our cat got sick very quickly, and we went to Padmini as our vet. There was NO PAYMENT PLAN offered, with VERY HIGH PRICES, which left us trying to desperately find the funding. In that meantime (2 days) they decided to call the Humane Society and have our cat taken away, as we couldn't afford the treatment in their time frame!!! This is the shadiest, foulest of actions!!! We had no choice but to let the HS take our cat; she was going to be treated for her illness and we were only concerned for her health at that time. Needless to say, we got our cat back after paying for her treatment at the HS, BUT the vets there did back to back surgeries on an already sick cat, which resulted in her liver failing 3 months later...for some reason we went back to Padmini to put her down. She was very UNCARING and any emotion she did display was totally FAKE. Then, despite arranging to have her ashes put in an urn, these untrusting ppl. put her corpse in a freezer for 2 weeks until AGAIN we could afford their HIGH PRICE for cremation etc.. YES, this really happened, and YES we ended up spending a fortune in an attempt to save our cat, which resulted in her dying anyway. That's why I say DO NOT GO TO THIS VET!!! Our cat might've been saved if we'd had gone somewhere else...
Helpful and honest
Edit: I've decreased my rating over the last couple of years due to the fact that they are very pushy and judgemental. Also, majority of those who you speak to on the phone lack any sort of customer service. My experience with the Waterloo West Animal Hospital has been nothing but phenomenal. I first came here in November of 2016 with my bearded dragon in an emergency situation. I called first to ensure they were well equipped to handle reptiles and sure enough they were. Although my bearded dragon did not make it; the team was exceptionally kind, empathetic, comforting and did not rush me out once she passed. I have been here on other occasions since with both my cat and puppy. The service continues to be exceptional with calls from staff to check in after visits and reminders about upcoming treatments/vaccines. I would recommend the Waterloo West Animal Hospital to anyone who is a new pet parent, needing a second opinion, or simply wishing to change veterinarians.
Got my bearded dragon a fecal exam done and it only cost 40$ turned out she had pinworms. They were very kind and helpful in treating her even gave a follow-up call to see how she was doing. My only complaint is that they didn't really talk to us and tell us what they were doing during her examination.
Melanie and the crew at WWAH are absolutely amazing. They saved my dogs life and are by far the best animal hospital in the tri cities. Cannot say enough good things about everyone that works there. I love this practice. Professional, understanding and efficient. 5/5
friendly staff and Dr. Hussain was a nice fellow and cared about our dog.
Horrible clinic - their mistake caused my pet's leg to be amputated! They had made a mistake by telling me to book an appointment (no urgency was communicated) to get the cast removed off of my pet's leg after an abscess draining. I booked it as soon as they could fit me in after the set amount of time to wait (again, no urgency communicated when I booked the appointment). When I came to them they told me I waited too long and my pet had developed gangrene and his leg now needed to be amputated. Whether this was as a result of them putting the cast on too tight and cutting off circulation, or this was because they couldn't see me soon enough. His leg turned black and needed to be amputated and they told me it was my fault. I warn everyone I know to never come here. They are fast to see people now because their clinic isn't busy due to poor service. They always advertise searching for new clients again because their client retention isn't good. Don't go here.
The vet did her job, but the techs/receptionist didn't punch in the right year on her shots, or verify that the software printed the right address, which is kind of annoying
Most of my family's animals have been cared for at this clinic and I'm so grateful for that. This clinic has lovely staff who truly care about you and your pets!
DR. PADMINI MAKKAPATI is a wonderful human being and I cannot say enough good things about her and everyone on her team at the Waterloo West Animal Hospital! I was referred to them through a friend and I am very happy to bring my Birman kitties (Ruby and Leo) there for all their medical needs. Also, I could not be happier to have met Chloe (the Boss of the clinic)! She and my beloved Simba (who passed away almost a year ago), came from the same parents! It was meant to be! I am so humbled to see Chloe every time as she warms my heart bringing memories of Simba back to real life! I highly recommend Waterloo West Animal Hospital! Inga
The staff was friendly and courteous. Took my cat for a general check-up and it went fantastically. Would definitely recommend!
We completely trust the team here, they've been super helpful and always have our pets best interests in mind.
Friendly service
The entire staff truly care about the pets and their families.
A few weeks ago, me and my partner's bearded dragon was suddenly acting off so we brought him here as we heard they had a reptile specialist. Despite not being able to go in with him due to COVID restrictions, we know our beardie was given the best care. The team did quite a few tests to get as much info as they could, finding there was a mass in his stomach. This was a little alarming but they very generously discounted some of our tests. As students who just wanted the best for our little guy, but weren't necessarily prepared for this, it was quite the relief and very heartwarming to know they wanted the best for him too, not just money. He unfortunately passed the morning following his visit, prior to another that was scheduled for more testing. When we notified them, they showed great sympathy in offering us a free post-mortem. This found that our poor boy had cancer in many of his organs, which while unfortunate, provided us with the closure we didn't think we'd get. To top it all off, the other day we received a card from them giving their condolences, signed by the whole team with a thoughtful note. For all of our future pets, we will definitely be coming here because they were so kind, supportive, and kept us informed every step of the way. Thank you so much to the whole team for your help and compassion during a difficult time <3 Leslie & Luke
Excellent for grooming. Haven't worked with them as a vet. Somehow had a low review from me prior which I must have made in error. Been so happy with the grooming of my dog who has special needs.
Kind and compationate
You can really tell that the vet (Dr. Ong) cares about animals, and truly has a love for the career, which shows through his kindness for your pet. Tonight we rushed to Waterloo West because we were so worried about our dog. The vet took her in, the assistants were so kind and even held onto her for us (since covid regulations don't allow owners in), and the vet gave us options and explained everything so thoroughly so that our dog could get the best care. What a fantastic experience. Tonight could've been awful, but the staff made it as great as it could've been, given that we were worried sick about our dog. The vet was also very upfront about the costs, and helped us figure out the best way to treat our dog. Thank you Dr. Ong and Waterloo West!
great staff and caring doctors!!!
Very friendly staff.....
My cat had an emergency and needed medical attention right away. They made the time to look her over and made sure everything was ok. They were thorough and really gentle with her. She normally gets very aggressive with the vets, but they were so nice to her that she let them do whatever they wanted. They made me feel calm and confident that she would be alright. I will definitely be bringing her here again.
Vets are knowledgeable and friendly and the staff are fantastic.
Staff deal with our big grumbly chap perfectly
Incredible customer service. Had to put down one of my pets and they made the process easier. I am forever grateful to these beautiful souls. Thank you
They treated my cats with so much love and I couldn't have asked for a better team of vets and vet assistants to properly care for them. They helped my cats overcome a bad respiratory infection in less than 2 weeks! You guys are amazing :)
My bunny had been a little down lately and I felt something was very wrong but I didn't expect it to be deadly (he was old tho). I had went here and they asked me if I'd like to take my rabbit home or put it down. I was a little upset so I said I might just put him down but I need a minute. They went and put him down anyways, they told me he was just going to die anyways and then immediately offered me expensive funeral services.. putting him down close me 120+ and he was a dwarf. idk how to feel but I probably won't bring a sick pet here again.
We have been going to this vet for many years and have never had anything but the best in terms of care towards my pets. We have taken ferrets and dogs and even a wild animal that also needed care and every time they have been treated in the best possible way. With exotic pets like ferrets theres not many places that will take them and it may seem like there isnt much that can be done when theyre in very bad shape, but the knowledge that the vets have here is second to none. And even though no one wants to think of the time when you have to say good bye, I know that that any of my little family members can be sent off peacefully and without pain. Thank you Tahir and all the staff for always being there. I recommend this vet to everyone who asks and will continue to do so after my little ones have gone.
Very professional
Just wanted to show some love and leave a nice review for the great people at waterloo west animal hospital. They were very good with my wife and I who were in serious distress with our boxer Zeus. He suffered heart failure and they did everything to stabilize him and get him towards a treatment plan. I know it's hard to deal with upset and grieving people and these guys did an amazing job. I cant thank you enough for everything ❤
We brought our cat here, Moglie, during COVID-19. We weren't a regular client of theirs, but they were able to fit us in. Our cat was only 5 years old but he got diagnosed with lymphocytic leukaemia and was rapidly declining. Within 48 hours he was barely moving and we knew he wouldn't make it through the night. While he was diagnosed at another vet, they were not open late/ able to fit us in/wouldn't give us any advice (only told us to go see an oncologist). We were desperate...we couldn't see an oncologist for 2 weeks. We knew he wouldn't make it that long... and so we had to make the difficult decision to put him down, but no vets would take him (again due to COVID-19 restrictions). The employees at Waterloo West Animal Hospital were amazing. It was so kind of them to have the blinds open so that we could see them assessing our cat and looking over the lab values, as well as talking to us on the phone while we sat in the car. The vet and assistants were very kind during this extremely emotional time. It's not easy putting down a pet, but it's especially hard when you can't be with them in the room. Despite the restrictions, they allowed one of us to be in the room (myself) and the other to watch through the window (my mom) when we put our baby down. A lot of vets we had called around in the area would not let anyone in the room... So sad. It meant the world to us. The vet was so kind, he was very empathetic and he reassured us that we were doing the right thing. We actually received a letter from them in the mail today, with their sympathies about our cat Moglie. It reminded me of how amazing they were on one of the hardest days I've ever had to go through. Thanks so much Waterloo West Animal Hospital for everything you did for us. We will never forget it.
Pretty ok
I have been very pleased with my experiences at WWAH. The staff have been very accommodating of my shy/feral cats, and they are also very fair in their pricing. I found that the staff and vets were very gentle with my cats and handled them very well while doing exams. WWAH offers follow up checkups free of charge, and I have found them to be very fair when charging for expensive procedures. For example, when I needed to have a UTI test done, my kitty wouldn't pee, so they kept her overnight in a room separate from dogs to collect the urine sample, free of charge. And when I needed a health passport (for travel to the States), they did not charge for a cat who had just recently been in for a vet visit. My only complaint is that they seem to be understaffed/poorly staffed on the weekends, because I had a few incidences where the staff member said they would return a call with an update and never did, or where they said my cat would be ready for pick up at a certain time and when I arrived she wasn't. Also, the vets change from day to day, so I would sometimes bring my cat in for a visit on two consecutive days and have different vets on each day, which meant that I had to do a lot of updating and explaining. This can be managed by explicitly asking for the same vet on subsequent visits though.
They overcharge you for Everything. Not recommend
Great staff, they care
Good place
Great place that you can trust ! They care for the animals not just about money, like some vets these days. Would recommend 10/10 !
Everyone there has consistently been fantastic with treating my pets and addressing my concerns. Reasonably priced as far as vets go and worth every penny! Keep up the awesome work!
I brought my cat to this hospital. Veterinarian and most staff real nice. Tes at end was not nice to me or my cat. Too rude and mean to me. My english poor, I trying to learn.
Great service
Did not have a good experience with them since they changed owners, I went elsewhere
Always a great experience with this place. Staff are super friendly and caring. Check up on my pets by email and recommended the best treatment for your pet if needed.
I had to put 1 star on here. They do not deserve any stars. Go somewhere else. Our dog was not feeling well, with shortness of breath and sleeping alot and not eating. Bought him in on Sunday for them to look at them. They toke him in and came back and said there was nothing wrong with him. We toke him back and his condition gotten worst over a day. Then call them again and said will do a blood test. We agree to the blood test. It toke over two days to get the test back and we had to call to find out. Finally on Tuesday, we bring him in to find out he had an enlarge kidney. Later that day he died. If they were doing their job, my dog would have had a better fighting chance on SUNDAY. DO NOT GO THERE
Caring people and good with exotics
Saved my bearded dragon, very nice vet office. My go to.
Staff where very supportive during and after our pet's loss.
The wait time is insane !
Friendly , knowagable , Vets and staff . 24 hr. emergency pet care.
Kind, friendly and knows what they're doing!
Dr. Tahir and Dr. Johnson are both amazing and always wanting to learn more
We had to switch vets because our vet changed hours and was no longer open on weekends. We came here and had an amazing experience. Also her rabies tag says "My vet loves me!" and I thought that was adorable. The vet genuinely loved our dog and didn't try to avoid her kisses and excitement to meet him. Other vets have acted like she was bothering them. We came because of the hours but we will continue coming for the staff and veterinarians!
Love the groomer!!!!
Saved my Casper. Caring. Genuine crew.
I can’t express enough how thankful I am for this group of people (Madison and Haley of note). My puppy was having a vomiting fit and they squeezed me in during after hours, saw him quickly, and treated his symptoms. The vet I spoke to (missed his name unfortunately) was thorough and explained everything before he proceeded. I’m sure they could tell I was panicked and their kindness and compassion was definitely felt. They’re not my primary vet, but I’m very glad to know I have an excellent back up option when needed.
I came here when my cat had a urinary block. It was a lot of stuff happening at once and they explained each process through with me and answered my billion phone calls asking about what is happening and what the next steps are. They sent me a picture of him when I asked (covid, I couldn't come in) and it helped my anxiety about him. After about a week to a week and a half I had him home post surgery, they called to check up on him and I called them with questions and they were always kind, professional and always helped me out. Amazing service both at the front and the vets too who I spoke with numerous times. Thank you! PS kitty is doing very well!
I brought my dog Hazel in for her shots recently and was so happy with the service! Dr.Makkapati was very knowledgeable and friendly, and the staff took amazing care of her. Normally she is very scared to have her shots but the staff kept her calm and occupied during the appointment so she was not stressed. Their service is genuine and trustworthy, providing pet education, and pricing was excellent for my budget. We will be returning to this clinic for anything we need!
I have never been so disappointed. This has been my clinic for my animals for 20 yrs. The lack of compassion for my 9 month old puppy who could have had an obstructed bowel both shocked me and disturbed me. Rather than guiding me thru this experience, their concern was Oscars inability to sit still. The assistant told me and I quote “I am so over dogs jumping”. We have a 9 month old puppy who is sick and scared. The residence refused to engage with my doodle. I had to ask them to pet him to help calm Oscar down. After the bill came to almost 500.00 dollars I expressed my distaste with this appt. I thought u had to like animals to work in this field. The first assistant we met in the office yelled down at Oscar. Melissa would have greeted Oscar and put his anxiety at ease. My whole family deals with this clinic. All three dogs had surgery thru the winter. We have all been disappointed. I needed to post only because I think the staff need to re-evaluate how they treat the animals and parents of our sick fur babies. After 20 years it is time to move on. Jocelyn Bresseau
Had to put 2 very old dogs down 2 weeks apart. One at Easter and his buddy a few weeks later. Both 16 years old. Very nice place. Doctor came to the car to explain the situation as it was during covid lock down. Very professional.
Do not go there. We went there for my puppy recently. They charged fecal flotation (~$40 with tax), but they did not. We realized they deceived us because my friend said for the testing we had to bring my puppy's poo sample but we never heard about that. I guess they might charge something you don't know if you are a newbie. Anyhow, we get the refund, and we will not go there again.
Such a great experience here. Front desk staff and the vet were fantastic! I can tell they don't recommend products that my pet doesn't need and I appreciate that.
Ive been really please with my 2 interactions with waterloo west animal hospital especially this last visit during covid protocols. Great communication while being apart. They take your pet and you sit in the parking lot. They called 2 or 3 times to see how I wanted to proceed with the check up. We came up with a plan to take care of the issue which they took time to look into (literally put the sample under a microscope while we were there) and suggested treatment based on that information! I know my dog didn't like it, at the time but he will appreciate there effort once he feels better!
Very professional staff, they were delightful
I've had to bring in my dog a bunch of times the last few months for different problems and everytime I have been the staff has been nothing but sweet to me and my dog. My dog also isn't the easiest to work with and they are always very patient with her. They are also open fairly late which has helped me quite a few times as I've had to bring her in pretty last minute here and there.
I took my bird here and although she ended up passing away shortly after, the doctor and staff were very knowledgeable and genuinely seemed to care about her well-being. I would recommend coming here if you own birds.
Absolutely love this place. The vets and staff are so nice and friendly. Would recommend this place to anyone with pets.
Went out of their way to fill an external script from a telemedicine appointment from my primary veterinary provider so I had enough antibiotics until I could get my pet in for an in-person appointment in my hometown! Very pleasant staff on the phone. Thanks again!
Today I found a lost Doberman at my residence, I brought it in to check for a micro chip, they kindly checked ,the dog had no chip. Happy ending, owner was located in my neighbourhood. Thank you for caring!
Do NOT go here. They are VERY unprofessional and you can tell they are NOT passionate about animals at all. The vets are only in it for the money. The vets do not know what they are doing. I had a sick budgie and this is the 3rd time now that i am dealing with the same problem. They have given me 2 different medications and they STILL dont know what they are doing and my bird is still sick. I dont understand how 2 different vets simply cant help one small bird. Ive spent well over $200 on a budgie when it should have cost WAY less and should have been solved after one visit. Im extremely disappointed with them. Also, the vets here do not know how to answer customers questions. I asked him a simple questions and he said "i dont know" very unprofessionally. Im extremely dissatisfied and I will NOT be going back here anymore. Seems to me they just like to pull money out of peoples pockets for unnecessary things. Now after paying them 3 times for the same bird they tell me to go to Guelph and see a better doctor so I can spend more money. This is literally just beyond disgusting. I advise customers NOT to go here.
Great place and very trust worthy. Dr. Padmini Makkapatti was absolutely wonderful and very helpful when my dog was diagnosed with lymphoma.
Very good hospital
I have been a client for about a decade and have always received excellent care. They once came in during off hours for me during an emergency with my dog. Highly recommended.
Good but expensive. It's worth the drive to Close Vet clinic unless it is an after hours type issue.
Kind staff helped us a lot when no one else was open or could take us
Hands down best vet i have ever been to. The service was immaculate and they were so patient and good with my guinea pig. Truly life savers and you can tell they love what they do. Thank you so much for all your help with bruce. I will be bringing my other pets here in the future.
Calm atmosphere, knowledgeable staff. Receptionist is helpful and friendly. The late hours available for booking appointments after work really helps our family to get our pets cared for without having to book time off work. Wonderful team there. Thank you!
Great help open late . but pricey
Friendly and fast service, they helped us with our tiny kitten
Excellent all around!! Waterloo West has been so good to me and my bunnies, especially after some unexpected babies from my two "male" rescues. Being new to bunnies in general, Waterloo West was always available to answer all my questions no matter how stupid they probably were and were able to get me appointments quickly. The staff are all so friendly and genuinely want to help you and your furry family member. Would 100% recommend to anyone for any pet, small or large.
I have been so impressed with Waterloo West Animal Hospital! They take such good care of my puppy and are always so incredibly warm and pleasant to deal with. I’ve had many services done here varying from general checkups to tooth extraction and have been so pleased with everything. Any question I have, no matter how silly it may seem, I know I can always call the office and get the answer, advice, or just reassurance. Truly appreciate you guys!
Recently my 3 year old dog went through a very basic procedure. The quote was for $520. When the surgery was done they returned my dog to me covered in dried sticky Urine. In addition I'm currently in the process of figuring out the bill because it came to nearly $900 instead of the $520 which was quoted. Please be warned this is not a good place
Although West Waterloo Animal Hospital has been very helpful with my cat and I would say they have been a good vet, I did have an issue with Dr. Padmini Makkapati. She told me that my follow up appointment would be free, but when the appointment was finished I was asked to pay. My problem is not that I have to pay, but that I was deliberately lied to by Dr. Padmini Makkapati and when the vet assistant checked with her she simply "checked her notes" and said she wouldn't of said that. So when communicating with Dr. Padmini Makkapati just take anything she says with a grain of salt.
I have had 2 bad experiences with this hospital. The first was with the unexpected extra charges on a bills for shots and a check up, changed from 150 to 280$. The second situation when I was quoted for a minor surgery (600-800$) that ended up being 1150$! I called for a quote both before I purchased the dog and again when I booked the operation, only to be sent an email right before the operation straighting there would be an extra charge they "forgot" to mention (2 times). I booked time off work for the operation and used the pricing they quote in the determining factor if I could afford a dog who need the surgery. Along with this i explained funds would be limited. The hospital is not straight forward with you, and rude when trying to discuss the problem. It feels as if they care more about the money then the animals / people Be prepared for surprises.
Cost a lot
We took our kitty when he was in distress and I must say they were phenomenal. They were understanding, explained everything that was going on, allowed us to be with him at all times until we were sent to Guelph for an overnight stay. I strongly recommend this vet to anyone in need.
THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE. I went to visit this hospital today to get a check up on my bearded dragon, after reading the reviews I was guarded as there were many saying the place over charges, and they dont care about the animals. This is most definitely not the case. The veterinarian was very knowledgable, he took the time to answer our questions, he didnt over charge us, as my boyfriend and I go to school and wouldnt be able to afford a costly visit. I wanted to leave this review to let other people know that this place is legit, they do a very good job, and they're not out to get your money they honestly do care for your animals.
Had a emergency today with my chihuahua and they took me right in and took a look at him and made me feel 100%better he was ok. I would totally recommend them to anyone in the area needing emergency help.
Great place for the care of your loved ones
Very good. They know exotic animals too
Absolutely amazing people at Waterloo West! They are incredibly compassionate and helpful. I had an emergency early in the day and they were quick to set up an appointment really quick for the same day.
0/10 go somewhere else. I have a BABY BENGAL KITTEN WITH 17 PAGES WORTH OF VISITS TO THIS HOSPITAL!!!! Easily spent over $500 trying to figure out whats wrong with him just to have the vet tell me “take it from a vet we just need to change his diet”. Excuse me? The medication given to my cat made his state worse. If you want to waste your money listening to vets who have no idea what they’re doing 10/10 recommend!
Was running low on cat food over the weekend. WWAH was able to hook me up on a Sunday. Quick, easy and friendly transaction.
Extremely busy and extremely expensive
They take great care of my dog and they are very friendly
The woman are the best with my babe girl. When l leave my babe there i know she is in another home where they love her just as much as myself an my family.????????
So much respect was given to my dog rosco when we had to bring him in to be out down. So much respect for him and our family members. We subsequently have them taking care of our new kittens and they're great!
I was not really sure about the vets as this was my first time having to deal with a lizard vet and to my surprise they worked with me and they are really good with animals I would recommend this vet to any one and their pricing are affordable
Staff was awesome, made something I was surprised would destroy me very peaceful. Would be 5 stars but their prices are way too high. Nearly twice an other vet excluding the emergency clinic
Crooks, was told at my first appointment with my cat that I had to pay a fee for a follow up appointment which I did with all intentions to bring my cat back, he got better, life got hectic... wedding, a move etc. Called to see if I could use the money for that appointment for a consult for the same cat with a new issue and they tell me that I didn’t pay up front for a follow up appointment... these guys are crooks and I strongly suggest you don’t fall for the same thing I did.. will be calling the BBB..
Staff at the Waterloo West Animal Hospital were very kind and compassionate during a very difficult time and we are very grateful to them. ❤
Great staff and great hours! Big help for the working person.
They are a great place to take your pet. They came out very quick when I arrived and made sure to update me every step of the way. I am very pleased with my service. Defiantly will go back again if I need to.
Great folks. Very caring.
Awesome service! I have been coming here for the past 10 years, and they take care of my 2 cats very well. They helped me a couple of times after hours too. They’re staff is so humorous talented and not to mention very kind. Highly recommend.
These folks take excellent care of my cat.
Waterloo West Animal hospital was great to deal with when we took our dog in last year. The staff there were all very friendly and accommodating. You can tell that the staff really love animals and really know how to make them feel comfortable. We consistently had to take our dog in last minute, they were more than happy to accommodate right away. (even on thanksgiving!!). Thank you Waterloo West Animal Hospital! You are now our go to vet!
They have excellent hours of service. Very convenient to pick up prescription food evenings or weekends, even holidays. Staff is very friendly
