You will see the opinions of people who purchased the services of VCA Canada South Trail Animal Hospital (Veterinarian) around Trail territory (Canada).
To this day this business gets a rating of 4.4 out of 5 and this score was based on 62 reviews.
You may have noticed that it has an average rating is quite good, and it is based on a very large number of feddbacks, so we may think that the evaluation is quite reliable. If people have bothered to leave their review when they are satisfied with the service, it works.
You know that we don't usually bother to give reviews when these are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...

Please allow me to share a sad experience made better by the caring staff at South Trail Pet Hospital. See, a few weeks ago I had to put down my cat, Jewel. I knew it was time but I was more nervous of the experience I would have doing something so personal in a public setting around strangers...I didn't even let my girl come with. When I set up the appointment the receptionist was so friendly and very respect to the situation. She let me know exactly what to expect on the day of in detail so I would not surprised. On the day I came, it was may be just my good luck, but there were no other patients there. I could have not asked for anything more for my cat and myself. They took me in right away. The receptionist dealt with the paper work and payment before the veteran came in. Here is where I can say with all my heart Dr. Ken genuinely cared. He didn't once make me feel rushed me to leave, he talked to me like a friend, and as I turned to leave and close the door behind me he said something that made me know it was all going to be okay, he said, "Andreo, I'll take care of her like she was my own," and I could tell he meant it. With that I had the strength to walk out. I cannot express how much I appreciate the staff for making that moment one that I can reflect on with a sense of closer instead of sadden. NOW, a few weeks later in the mail I received a beautifully crafted card with all the staff message and signatures. In addition, along with the card they sent separate cards with Jewels paw impressions, her name, and a little message as a keepsake. So often we forget how the little thing mean everything, but they really do.
Amazing service and outstanding care for your pets! Dr. Moore ensures you understand everything and goes above and beyond on the care of your pet! Couldnt ask for a better exotic vet. Andrea is the best and can totally understand why she owns the place! Been to many vets and now will not go any where else! This vet is top notch and highly recommended. Thank you team you are outstanding!
Everyone is so friendly here!
All the staffs and Dr are so nice and helpful. Truly appreciate for all their help when my puppy got very sick, highly recommend this hospital! Thanks guys!
Take both my cat and dog here
Very friendly and caring, thank you.
Great team offering great care for our pets. No hesitation in recommending this Vet center
Friendly and helpful
Always have good service here. Friendly vets and staff care about the animals.
Ladies are always warm and friendly
My pet has always been a healthy good boy, but they always take lots of time to answer my questions and they typically recommend the most cost effective solutions. Feels like they are there to help and not just cash in.
The current vet is extremely informative and seems like a vast improvement over others I've taken my cats to in this city. I would highly recommend.
Wonderful clinic, great staff who really care about your pets
Awesome staff. They are really excellent with our puppy.
We have been taking our dog to South Trail Pet Hospital since she was a puppy. From surgery, annual visits, shots etc. The vets have always been communicative and have never left us with any concerns. We also enjoy taking Freesia to have her regular grooming done at the clinic.
Fantastic clinic! Had our beloved friend there for all his 14 years. Helped us say goodbye today. Thank you Dr Jordan.
I would like to write a good review here but that is not the case. We rescued a stray kitten, which was estimated to be about 6 weeks old. She was terrified of us and would hiss and spit anytime we tried to touch her, but we did some research on feral and stray cats and decided that we would try to "tame" her as she was at an ideal age to do so, therefore we took her to the vet to be checked out. Mr. Ken Mackenzie was the vet doctor that we saw and he told us that the kitten was in good health, aside from having dirty ears. He then proceeded to tell us that this kitten should be euthanized because " there are a lot nicer cats out there". To say the least, we were mortified to be told that we should be killing a 6 week old kitten for the sole reason that she wasn't nice enough. It is true, there are a lot of nice cats out there and there are also much better, more knowledgeable veterinary professionals. A week after we had the kitten we picked her up and she started to purr instantly and doesn't stop! She is now 11 weeks old, has been tested for viruses and is completely healthy. She is very social; not afraid of any one, incredibly playful and very loving. We are so very glad to have this little girl in our lives and will never be returning to this veterinary hospital ever again.
Awesome vet clinic. Dr. Jordan is really excellent with our puppy.
This vet and the staff have been great for us this past year as I saw them several times for my older cat who was getting progressively sicker. They were always great answering questions and helping make things easier on us and when we had to make the sad decision to put our sick cat down, they were understanding when I made and cancelled the apt several times. Also, we just received a personalized and very touching sympathy card in the mail for our cat and that was really sweet. Would recommend them to anyone. Thanks to Dr Mackenzie and the staff!
Best clinic. Dr Moore is really good and helpful.
Incompetent and cruel. Do not go here if you value your pet. They care more about money and their egos than the welfare of animals.
They told me that my new puppy needed a rabies shot every month up until 15 weeks old....that is not true and it is just a cash grab acccoring to the vet i decided to take her to eventually. My dogs current rabies shot is valid for a year and does not need another one until August 2020.
Dear A Hunt I am the receptionist at South Trail Pet Hospital. I am saddened that you think we are cruel for trying to find the kitten you are talking about a loving home. By him being in the clinic, he is constantly getting attention by the staff and clients. He is taken out of his kennel to be socialized and played with even by our Doctor. Our doctor takes him and prior CHS cats to his office to spend time with them. Also, during closed hours, all the CHS cats spend the night and weekends in a large room. South Trail Pet Hospital is a pit stop for kitties looking for forever loving homes. We have found homes for 157 cats over the years. CHS has strict rules for us to house their kitties here; that we must follow. I have also worked with ARCS at Killarney Cat Hospital and we followed the same guidelines. We deeply care for every purr baby that spends time with us, waiting for the right person to walk through the door. If you would like to help, you can always apply to be a foster parent to the other kitties and puppies seeking homes. If you have any further concerns with how these kitties are housed, please address the Calgary Humane Society as they have set up these guidelines.
I am sickened by the poor cat they have from the Humane Society locked in a tiny cage 24/7. When I brought it up to the lady working she said that it is safer for the cat as they get lost and hide in small hard to get places in the store. it is absolutely animal cruelty! This needs to be dealt with NOW! No cat deserves to be locked in a cage 24/7. I am utterly disgusted with what I saw in your location. SO SAD!!! Also the older lady that works at the front desk is extremely rude. Being the first point of contact you would think she could smile and be polite! Very rude front end staff!!
Our dog needed his teeth cleaned and then a couple of teeth pulled....the staff was attentive.. always kept me informed and were caring to our Dallas....thank you for taking care of him for us...
Took our pup here after a bad experience at the groomers where he was burnt badly by their clippers. We had to go to this vet because it was the only clinic the groomers would pay the bill for. The front staff were very friendly and even sent us a card in the mail thanking us for coming in and personalized it by recommending the groomers they have at their clinic!
If i were you i would talk to storm she is awesome with animals especially bunny as i have one and she is very knowledgeable but if she doesn't know she will tell you who to call to find out
I am new to Calgary from the states where I loved the whole staff at the veterinary office that I went to and was so afraid that I would not be able to find a replacement here. I did go around and visit several different veterinary offices and South Trail was by far the best. I have had to take my elderly dog twice to Dr. McKenzie and both times I was never felt rushed he gave my dog more attention then he gave me which is what I was looking for and that's exactly what I had back in the states. He listened to what I had to say didn't try to convince me to do something that was not necessary…
Excellent staff
Fantastic vet. Everyone is so helpful and kind. Thank you!
I don't understand a couple of bad reviews here. We have been with this vet for at least 10 years. Any of the staff and vets have been nothing but exceptional. We have 3 large dogs and have several cats in which some we have lost over the years due to health issues and or old age. Dr Mackenzie is new there for past couple years and is super attentive to our animals needs, doesn't rush and sincerely invests his time and concern with myself n my beloved pet. Dr Mackenzie is delicate and sensitive on what may not be pleasing news. Highly recommend this place. And I don't find they charge a phenomenal amount. It's reasonable and at times offer possible alternatives that may work n less costly.
After visiting 4 other vets who I felt didn't take my concerns as serious as I thought they were, I finally came to south trail for a 5th opinion and I'm glad I did. Dr. Ken and his team were so amazing, I've never felt so much compassion and willingness to help. They caught that our dog had an aggressive form of cancer, I'm so thankful that they were willing to put the extra effort into re-evaluating her and finding an answer instead of an excuse. Who knows how much longer we have with her, but to me they have saved her and given us some more time. I am so grateful for them!
Very nice professional knowledgeable staff.
Great and friendly service
All the staff here are great, never been spoken to rudely or aggressively by anyone. They treated my two girls (cats) with nothing but love and tenderness today. I would rather be told the truth straight out for any diagnosis\prognosis.????????
Very expensive. Told certain things were included in the estimate, then they weren't. We switched vets.
Great service. Friendly staff.
When I had first come here I checked the reviews and wondered if the bad reviews were true or just people who were upset, so we gave them a chance and quite honestly if I could turn back time and go back to day one we would have went to a different veterinarian. I can truly confirm and say that they seem very apathetic, and sometimes just downright cruel with their words. The staff member we had come in contact with constantly interrupts you when you attempt to speak. You'll realize after a while that they are never busy and that should speak volumes for itself. The examination was not thorough and this veterinarian responds in a very hostile way if questioned at all. There are other much better veterinarians in Calgary with better information and practice. So please, if you love your dog or cat, after this experience I strongly recommend to stay clear of this place.
Awesome vet clinic. Dr Jordan’s wonderful and so are all of the staff. 100% recommend
Thank you to Dr. MacKenzie who is kind, compassionate and caring towards his fur patients. Pinky, my kitty cat, has seen Dr. MacKenzie twice now. Each time that Pinky has been for a visit, it has been nothing short of a great and informative experience. I learn something new each time I make a visit and I always leave the clinic knowing that my kitty has received the best care. I would highly recommend Dr. MacKenzie and his team to anyone. Thank you so much for the time and care you put into your patients - it is wonderful knowing that there are vets who truly care about the well being of your animal.
Nice folks and good vets. They treat our cats and dog very well. Been going to them for many years now and would not hesitate to recommend.
Im so not impressed with this vet anymore. The past time i was there will be the last time going. The vets bounded my dogs mouth closed while they shaved her paw. My dog is small and old and doesnt have hardly any teeth to bite anyone. She freaks out so bad when we take her here but any other vet i take her to she is so calm. I dont recommend this vet at all!
Unfortunately, We had to put down our baby. they made her feel comfortable, wrapped a blanket around her, and gave her some oxygen because she was having a hard time breathing. We miss her dearly, but having her taken care of the way she was made us feel 100 times better afterwards. Thank you.
I can't say enough good things about this clinic. Chasta with her diabetes, Oliver with his skin disorder & surgery, and finally Finley - with so many problems already in her short life - they have all received the BEST care here, and I couldn't be happier. Thank you so much!
