I am amazed with Dr. Dev and his staff. I had a horrible experience at another vet with my cat Roxy who is 12. Dr. Dev really took the time to sit and talk with me and to get Roxy comfortable with him(she hates most things in life) she didn't totally hate it here. She had been through surgery prior to this vet and it was traumatic to say the least . He was able to explain what happened why ect... I would recommend him and his staff to everyone. The girls at the desk were absolutely amazing as well as the technician. Going above and beyond. Thanks for restoring my beliefs in our veterinary services in Calgary . Not only taking time to sit with me , but also emailing to check that Roxy was still doing well and then calling me with the blood work results and walking me through them. The price was very fair. You can tell that they love the animals and their job.

If I could give this place a 0, I would. The vet was great and very knowledgeable when it came to the surgery. However, the receptionists/front staff were a different issue. My fiance and I asked multiple times if the pre exam fee came off the total quoted. They did say yes, but it didn't when my fiance went to pick her up and pay. Also, we asked for a shirt instead of a cone, and our cat comes out in a cone. I'm sorry but if you cared about your patients and returning business, you'd actually take a moment to listen and set things straight. But you didn't. Don't bother coming here with your pets. Go somewhere else.

Nice clean friendly business that provides good care and very personalized service that very few veterinarian offices provide anymore. I would prefer that they were all settled in and open before my appointment time though.

What a wonderful team! Our dog had got sick and we spent all day on Sunday being sent to different animal hospitals after waiting hours and hours at them. We eventually had to wait until Monday and got in touch with Barlow Animal, our dog has huge anxiety with clinics. They were amazing, they gave him medication to get him all calm and then we were able to get him in so they could sedate him and get him better . They took such good care of him, they were all so helpful and professional especially Doctor Dave . We will never go anywhere else as the experience was amazing Thanks from Indy -Don-Christine

I am so happy that I found this place. Pets are like people and don't like going to the doctor either. Dr. Dev and staff take care of my dog as if he was theirs. They discuss everything with me and make Duke feels comfortable when he is there. They follow up with me on his treatments to see if I have additional questions and how is Duke feeling. Dr. Dev is up on everything pet related and is continually learning to make sure you pet gets the best treatments possible. The staff are very professional, patient, friendly and caring. This clinic pretty much does everything, right down to trimming toenails. I highly recommend Barlow Trail Animal Hospital to take your beloved pet. When you leave the clinic you will know you got the best service from Dr. Dev and the staff.

I can't thank Dr. Dev at Barlow Trail Animal hospital enough- he saved my little girl's life and has continued to go over and above in ensuring her well being. While camping, my 13 year old pekingese fell down and was presenting stroke like symptoms. We took her to a vet in Red Deer who suggested she be euthanized. We decided to take her back to Calgary and book an appointment with Barlow Trail Animal Hospital to have her put down. Upon arriving, Dr. Dev examined her and offered a second opinion and put her on a course of treatment where she is thriving. I am not grateful enough for all of the kind and brilliant people at this animal hospital- they are all, from desk staff to assistants and vets, the best veterinary clinic I have encountered in my 30 years as a pet owner. I wholeheartedly recommend this clinic to anyone who loves their pet.

Dr.Dev was very upfront wuth what was going on with my Nichi. He explaines everything step by step. He was also there fr Nichi when she started coughing. In all honesty Dr.Dev cares a great deal about his furry patients and does everything he can to ensure they stay healthy and happy. Just ask Nichi!!

As first time dog parents, we wanted to find a vet who would look after our puppy. After inquiring at many places, I found Barlow Animal Hospital to have the best pricing and it was also located very close to us. In the beginning, we loved Barlow Animal Hospital. Luckily for us, we found an amazing vet in Dr. Nathaniel. There are many things that made him a wonderful vet. First and foremost, our dog loved him and was very comfortable with him. Dr. Nathaniel took his time to thoroughly explain everything to us, so we never left our appointments with questions or unease. He was truthful and never tried to force us into buying products from them. He was very compassionate about what he did and it was easy to tell he had a love for animals. We were saddened when Dr. Nathaniel left this establishment. However, we hoped Barlow Animal Hospital would continue to be a great place for us to bring our dog. At the end of May, our dog had an emergency surgery at a 24 hour hospital. A couple of weeks later, we made an appointment at Barlow Animal Hospital for a follow up and we also noticed an ear infection in his left ear. At this appointment, we were introduced to Dr. Dev. He confirmed that our dog had an ear infection and he proceeded to treat his ear with a gel ointment. He suggested that the infection may have arose due to food allergies. He then went straight into how we should put our dog on a food trial and how Barlow Animal Hospital were the only ones that sold that specific food for the trial. Because this was our dog's first ear infection, we decided that it was too soon to go down this route. When leaving, he instructed us to come back in one week and to bring the bottle (what we assumed was the ointment he was treating our dog with) with us. We were confused as to why we were sent home with the bottle, after he suggested not to use it at all. The week after, we were back for our follow up appointment. We didn't see anything wrong with our dog's ear anymore and thought the infection was gone, so it was a surprise when Dr. Dev informed us that now his right ear was infected. He treated both ears with the gel again and told us to come back in another week. We asked him how much this would cost and he informed us that it would be $25 to treat each ear. After this visit, we couldn't see any signs of infection in either ear. Again, we returned to Barlow Animal Hospital for what we were hoping would be our last visit for a while. Dr. Dev now informed us that although the right ear infection seems to have been cured, the ear infection had returned to the original (left) ear. He now insisted on the food trial, putting our dog on Cytopoint injections ($135.00 for each injection that would have to be done every 4-12 weeks) and a type of omega supplement that they would have to specially order from the United Kingdom. Not only were we surprised to hear about these extra treatments, but we were also disappointed to find that our bill was drastically higher than the $25 per ear treatment that we were quoted a week prior. Dr. Dev came out and explained that it was actually $25 for the bottle of medication, on top of the full examination (we didn't even use the bottle). We didn't realize we were getting charged a full examination fee for all our follow up appointments for the ear infection. We left confused and disappointed. A year prior, we would have highly recommended Barlow Animal Hospital to our friends and family who had pets. After this experience, we were frantically trying to locate Dr. Nathaniel. Thankfully, we were able to find him and immediately booked an appointment with him in order to get a second opinion on our pet's condition. After taking our dog to see Dr. Nathaniel, we are happy to say that he does not have an ear infection in his left ear as Dr. Dev claimed and it was too soon to immediately claim our dog had food allergies. We truly hope no one gets scammed by Dr. Dev. Please, get a second opinion before following his advice.

So far, I've had two great experiences. Took my cat in for what looked like an ear infection last week, and went in today for an update to make sure she was in the clear. Both the reception and vet (I can't remember her name now, but she's so nice) are both amazing, they really seem to love the animals they deal with and did their best to make my cat feel comfortable. They were up front about costs and checking in with what I was okay with spending (even giving me an estimate before running any tests), and not only that - I just about fainted in the lobby today (coming down with a flu) and was promptly given a glass of water, offered an ice pack and was checked on several times before I felt well enough to leave. Super embarrassing but they were awesome about it. Will continue to come here for any of my cat's needs!

Dr Dev Gunpat-Rao is very thorough and extremely helpful and caring. My pup was suffering from seizures and no other Vet was able to give me a correct diagnosis. I have seen Dr Dev multiple times in the past few months and have always left feeling reassured knowing my puppy is getting the best care possible. I would definitely recommend Dr Dev to anyone looking for a Vet. The staff is also very loving and always willing to help.

He treated my 11 year old Burmese cat like the princess she is ... I have never met a more compassionate professional in the field and for that I am grateful. Thank you from both Catalina and I!

Do I have a story for you! On leaving the vet after a successful tooth extraction, the handle on my cat's crate gave way, the crate hit the ground, the door popped off and my drugged but terrified cat ran off in the direction of Barlow Trail! I ran back to the clinic and yelled out for help, then took off after her. Dr. Asemadahun and the Vet Tech came to my aid, and helped me look for my lost cat for OVER AN HOUR, until well past 6pm. Amazingly my cat answered one of my calls with a little mew, and we were able to surround her in a giant thicket of weeds behind the building. Dr. Asemadahun climbed INTO the bush and rescued my cat for me. Now that is service! I highly recommend this clinic. The staff will love your pets as much as you do. If you have a fat cat though, do support the crate from underneath :-)

When our regular vet told us it would be at least 2 weeks before they could see our puppy for a cough, we tried Barlow Trail Animal Hospital. They were able to see us the same day and we found Dr. Dev to be very thorough and caring. We really appreciate the time he takes to talk to us after every appointment. The rest of the staff are all friendly and helpful as well. Needless to say, Barlow Trail is now our regular vet!

Be careful when you take your pets here. Double check your quote they give you and make sure they explain everything. I took my cat to get fixed and i was told the pre exam was included with the total price. I then showed up and was given a quote, so i agreed with the price. Once the pre exam was over i was charged for that. I asked if that amount was going to be taken off the quoted price, and was told yes 3 times. So surgery day arrives and my fiance takes our cat in and double checked about the pre exam price coming off the quoted price, and she was ensured that it was going to come off the overall price. I arrive to pick her up and the bill was almost $100 more than it should have been. I then proceeded to ask why. And was given some dinky excuse. They also added in another price for something else that was not on the quote. After an hour of arguing with them, i got the pre exam price removed from the final bill. I will never take my animals here ever again. PLEASE people double check your quotes and final amounts to ensure you're not being screwed over.

Brought in my 14 year old poodle today and was amazed with the service performed. The vet, Dr. Dev was absolutely wonderful. He was so gentle, careful and caring. The prices are very very reasonable. Was going in expecting to spend hundreds of dollars and was amazed when the total bill was under 100! He took amazing care of my baby. I will definitely be bringing her back to see Dr. Dev.

My wife and I could not be more grateful for the help and support that Dr. Dev and his team provided for our Gray. We adopted our husky after a severe car accident resulted in a broken leg. She was taken care of and provided with a health regimen to help with rehabilitation. She is now very happy and can run with little issues. I would highly recommend Barlow Trail Animal Hospital.

I had a fantastic experience at the Barlow Trail Animal Clinic! I was visiting from out of province and called when my kitty had some urinary problems. They got me in right away and the clinic staff were fantastic! Dr. Dev was very friendly and took lots of time to work through my kitties problem! He explained everything in detail and told me exact prices as we went. I even had a callback the next day to chat about progress. All the staff were helpful and friendly!

I hate leaving this review because my first couple of visits were great, the doctor was so friendly and explained things well, until I realized I was being charged a full exam fee for every “recheck”. They at least are honest about this, but any other clinic gives a lower rate or it’s actually even free when it’s within a certain # of days. If the standard of doctor was out of this world I’d say it’s worth it but it’s not and there are tons of other clinics out there willing to actually charge what’s appropriate and not be a money grab.

There has consistently been poor service from the front receptionist giving misguided information when we visit. Beware. At first I thought she may know something or be helpful... but as time has gone by she continues to give poor advice that at times is very medically incorrect and has caused us distress. Dr. Nathan seems to have his own agenda most times too, I try different ways to get across but he has his own agenda. He poorly communicates what his plans are and that leaves a large concern most of the time. Better and more professional care can be found and I would rather drive across town than bring my pets, my valuable pets back there. Not trust worthy.

Very unprofessional had to take puppies to another vet after this vet botched a vet check and first shots was cheaper than other vets but will have to take to another vet to fix their screw up so ends up being g more money I would be surprised if this vet actually is a vet they have very little knowledge of animals it's pathetic will not be back

I wouldn’t trust my cats to anyone else. Dr. Dev is knowledgeable, kind, and professional, and the whole staff really treats my pets like they’re their own. They’re also not the type of vets that try to squeeze every penny out of you, and will tell you if a test or treatment is unnecessary. Dr. Dev will spend as much time with you as needed, explaining everything and answering every question. I’ve been to so many vets who try to rush you out of the door, but it’s the complete opposite here. I once saw a different vet who told me that my kitten was in perfect health, only to see Dr. Dev and find out that my kitten was extremely sick and would have died without treatment. Within a couple weeks, my kitten was perfect health. I’m so thankful to Dr. Dev and the whole team, I really can’t say enough good things about them!

I brought my dog here a few weeks back to go through what no pet owners like to go through.. putting your pet to sleep.. the ladies front staff and back staff were very informative, amazing and kind. Everyone listened to my concerns and answered every question I had, if they couldnt give me an answer, they would find out for me. My fur family enjoyed this vet and felt he was given the love and care he needed. These guys are very attentive and ensure your visit is stress free. Absolutely distraught! I recieved a vet bill that was DOUBLE what I was quoted by the vet, after specifically expressing what I could afford after the latest COVID restrictions were released. I would hate for this to happen to anyone else. If you're in the area, I recommend going to the Sunridge Veterinarian Clinic.

Very poor communications. Our dog went in for needed dental work and they told us up front we'd be contacted as soon as they did the scans to determine what needed to be removed. This was not done. We had to call in twice to get information on what was done and was charged extra than the original quote. Got a sorry for the miscommunications. Nothing seems wrong with our little guy but that is simply wrong. Updated note: We did not give authorization, we were told after work was done what was done, no options. This had nothing to do with multiple owners it simply had to do with lack of them calling us to discuss the procedures. We called multiple times they did not. Plus we were advised on multiple occasions prior to the dental work that as soon as the inspection was done we'd get a call to discuss removal. This was not done. If it isn't safe to call then this should never had been an option.

Dr. Dev and the front desk team are amazing! Our little guy Maurice was having some serious unexpected pain. Our regular vet was swamped and unable to see him for weeks so we called Barlow Trail Animal Hospital and they were able to see him almost right away. When the pain continued we would give them a call and they would make room for him in their schedule. When you don't know what's happening with your dog it can be very stressful, but Dr. Dev was great at following up and reaching out. We'll be monitoring Maurice closely, but feel comfortable returning when we need to. Highly recommend!
