Playing with my dog in a Saturday night I found out on him a lump with no more than 5mm, below of his rib. Right away I started to look for a vet clinic that could be open on Sunday. Village Gate was the closest place that i could found and as you can read, there is a lot of good reviews. It seemed reliable to me and I decided to bring my dog there. The vet did some examination and decided to do a biopsy, but the lump was a little hard and the vet had to tried 4 times. "80% chance of success," he said and I believed. Next day he called me: "About the cytology... this is something that I would not ignore, I'm a little bit afraid. We have to check it out what could be...if it's something aggressive, I have to remove a big part. The result of cytology was indefinite. You have two option... wait to grow it to try another biopsy or do a surgery, get this lump and send to a new exam" I asked him what could be the best option. He said: "surgery". At this moment I was about to cry. My dog is very healthy, 4 years old. I booked to the next Monday... he suggested to bring my dog a day before the surgery. "He can not drink water or eat any food. It's better he stay here one night before, and you can pick him up Tuesday noon". I agreed. The total price: 1200$. At home, I was devastated and when we are so emotional, it's hard to think minimally rational. Few hours after of spoke with the vet, I was calling to my brother, who is a vet in Brazil - yes, how could I forget this? He said: "I believe that this is nothing to worry about it. Check another vet." But "if is it a cancer as the vet suspected? The vet told me that could be aggressive." My brother answered: "If aggressive, your dog could have an inflammation, but he does not feel nothing, right? So, there is nothing to worry. But just in case, bring him to another vet". That's what I did, but before do that, my neighbour, who volunteer to an dog rescue organization, told me that would never be nervous with this. "All the time we see dogs with lumps. It's pretty common, specially in Labs." I told her that the vet from Village Gate would suggest to do a surgery. "Surgery? This would be only a procedure. When we remove some, takes no more than 20 min". I told her that the vet would like stay with my dog over 2 nights. She laughed, but I still decided to bring my dog to another vet. In another clinic during any moment cancer was a possibility. The vet from Dundas West Hospital told me: "I really don't believe that this lump can be something dangerous. Surgery is too extreme. It's not necessary at all. Let's wait a moment and if grow up, bring him back and we can get x-ray." So, it was an unanimity: the lump may be nothing and the vet of Village Gate could be wrong. Two weeks later, I tried to touch the lump again and I could not see nothing. I spoke again with my brother and he said: "if it was a tumor, would not disappear. I don't know what could be, but I'm sure that was not cancer". So, there is not any doubt. Today I'm happy that all those people saved my dog from an useless surgery. And would never come back to Village Gate after this traumatic experience. Good luck to who goes.

I have never experienced service so great and so helpful as I have here at Village Gate Animal Hospital. Dr. Toole and his team have been of great help to me and Jazzy, my dear cat. Jazzy is very sick and is struggling her life. I am completely shocked and devastated by knowing Jazzy's serious blood problem. I brought her to see Dr. Tooles suggested by my friend. Now she is at the hospital for about 4 days under the care of Dr. Tooles and his team. I am so impressed by Dr. Toole’s humanity, kindness, warm personality, and professional demeanor!!! His entire personality brings great credit to himself and this animal hospital. I know it is very difficult in saving Jazzy’s live but Dr. Tooles is giving his best to do so. Jazzy is so lucky and I am so grateful!

They are great. The staff knows you and your furry friends. We've done surgeries, yearly treatments for 10 years now and even kennel in a few occasions. Quick to help and keep on top of what's going on. We moved 45 mins away and still go to this doctor.

This Vet is like part of our family. When we first came to Dr. Toole it was because a different vet had made a big mistake and we almost lost our little kitten. He saved his life. He saved our dog too. He has treated 8 of our pets with dedication that I have yet to find elsewhere. He helped me find a good oncologist when one of my guys had cancer. And when my cat fell out of remission he did everything to keep him comfortable. I've had several vets and nothing compares to the treatment of all the staff. He is thorough. No stone unturned. Which makes for a proper diagnosis and in turn proper treatment. This is key to any recovery. We have moved further away but still travel to stay with them. When a team helps as many pets as we have, they become part of the family.

After four unsatisfactory vets in eight years, Village Gate is a dream. The only Toronto vet, out of several I called, who happily gave me an estimate over the phone, pre-appointment, for our first visit. The other six clinics I contacted found this to be a massive inconvenience, said they'd call me back and didn't, or suggested twice the price. Petra, at the front desk, also retrieved my dog's medical records from a former vet who, oddly, was refusing to forward them when I asked. Again, this was BEFORE my first appointment with them. They couldn't have been more helpful and friendly over the phone, which is why I choose them, and the service was just as great when we arrived. The pre-estimated price was the price, no upselling, and they addressed an issue they discovered with my dog during his check up, free of cost. I would HIGHLY recommend this clinic. Five Stars.

Dr. Geoff Toole truly has a heart of gold and is so wonderful for myself and my dog, Sophie. Sophie was hit by a car last week and we thought we were going to lose her - it was such a traumatic experience. It happened on a Sunday morning and Dr. Toole told us to come in as soon as we could. Dr. Toole is so dedicated to the animals and families he helps. He found the best medication combination to keep Sophie as comfortable as possible, he checked on her multiple times during the day and night, and even offered her homemade food when she wasn't eating. I was encouraged to visit her as often as I could and met other animal parents who were also doing the same. I truly believe that thanks to Dr. Toole Sophie is well on her way to a full recovery. I have never met another vet who is so dedicated to his patients. Thanks again for your truly exceptional expertise.

We have been seeing Geoff for almost 10 years. He has cared for our many rescues and has diagnosed life-threatening conditions other vets were baffled by. We have been adopting sick and elderly pets for years, and Geoff has always been there with excellent care and advice that has elevated their quality of life. He is very attentive to both clients and pets alike and has even answered calls after hours. The staff is great with our cats and dogs as well. Good care for our pets is priceless!

Ever since getting our puppy last summer, we have been bringing him to Village Gate Animal Hospital and we cannot say enough good things about them. It is apparent with any call or visit that every single one of the staff truly care about what they are doing. Pricing is always clearly broken down, and you never feel pressured into extra costs and procedures, just given all the information available to you. The vet comes out after every appointment to talk to you (since we cannot go inside due to COVID restrictions currently) and all the vet technicians are so kind and patient and answer every question we have, no matter how small or seemingly silly. Dr. Toole is a wonderful veterinarian and runs a top notch practice, and we can't imagine going anywhere else!

Without even have had made a visit here, I'm completely amazed and appreciative of the staff here. I have never taken my dog Maggie Mae here but on a Sunday with most vets closed, I had to take my dog in with some concerns I had. Unfortunately they were not able to see her but the lady at the front desk while over the phone asked me describe the issues and she would relay them to the doctor. The doctor called me back shortly after and explained his thoughts from what I had described. He expressed his concern about a uterine infection and the urgency then gave me the numbers of emergency vets to call. They made no profit from me and didn't even know me yet went above and beyond what they had to do to ensure my dog was being taken care of and kept healthy. I can't thank them enough and it speaks volumes of how much they truly care about animals. Incredible team of people here.

We are new clients of Dr Geoffrey Toole and the Village Gate Animal Hospital. I brought my dog in with a tumour on her toe. I was seen right away. A day after the examination with some test results in, Dr Toole explained the options and we settled on surgery. My dog was very well cared for, the procedure was very clean, she shows no sign of discomfort or distress. Dr. Toole follows up, has a high degree of concern and is a total pro.

I have to say, this was by far my most pleasant experience at a vet in my last 4 years as a dog owner. I have had some bad experiences with past vets and was looking for a new, local vet where I could take my two dogs. Dr. Geoff Toole is cheery, professional, and very reassuring to work with. He took great care of my dog Charlie who is normally pretty stressed out when she goes to the vet. She stayed calm and this was definitely her most enjoyable trip so far, haha. Liver treats and all! Even though proper care for your dog/family member is absolutely priceless, this is the first time I have been to a vet where I didn't feel as though they were only there to empty my wallet. Dr. Toole cares about his clients and it shows. I will definitely be back again!

I am only giving this review for the sake of innocent animals. I would not trust Dr. Toole with my beloved pet, ever. I can't understand the glowing reviews. He was about to stick a huge hyperdermic needle in my dog's jugular for vitamin K. I thought she might need it and just suggested it. Without hesitation he came at her throat with the needle, like in a trance. I jumped in to protect her and allowed him to give it orally. He was rough about it and she was unable to gulp at his forced pace. I paid for this, quite a lot, and got the hell out of there never to return. Just to respond to the suggestion that I am mistaken about Dr. Toole, mistaken identity is not the case.

I filled out their online inquiry about my cat who hasn't been feeling well and doesn't seem to be responding to treatment from his usual vet, and that I was considering getting a second opinion from Village Gate. Dr. Toole called me to discuss my cat's symptoms and recommended a specialist for me. I appreciate that he took time out of his day to offer his thoughts on the situation despite my cat not being a patient here.

ALthough they were not the ones stitching up my dog, they were veryhelpful, and they even refused to charge me since the removal took only a fewminutes. I called to speak about my kitten who is having chronic diarrhea. As I was explaining I was rudely interrupted and told we can't see you and to try another. But he should be seen as soon as possible. He may need dewormer. If I was allowed to finish it would of been explained the tests that have been completed and dewormer is not his issue.

Very friendly and accommodating. No upsell pressure but good advice. Parklng is very limited but can also be found on surrounding streets. It's a retrofitted old house. Waiting room space is limited. Jeff the Vet, is very thorough and explains precisely his thinking as he goes along in any examination.

Dr Jeff Toole is a really caring vet. He's owned the clinic for years and works 7 days a week, 365 days a year. You can tell Dr. Jeff really cares about animals and on more than one occaision he's called me back after-hours to have a phone consultation (in depth) about the animal. He's very technical and so you should be prepared with a pen and paper to jot down some terminology for your own research later. Prices are a little high but I have no problem at all paying for the excellent care. Would definitely recommend.

I was very pleased with the quick response time in being able to consult with Dr. Ljumovil, and subsequently getting Lily in to see him the following day. Both Dr. Ljumovil and Dr. Rattan (filling in for Dr. Toole) were very professional, listened to my concerns, and offered valuable advice. The blood test results were relayed promptly and I was reassured Lily was in good hands. This most recent experience was top notch!

I recently came home to my dog bleeding all over the apartment. Dr. Toole was the closest vet open on Sunday and even though he was booked solid and I wasn't his patient, he saw us over his lunch hour. He also took a lot of care in his examination even though my dog was stressed and whining the entire time. He even took the time to explain to me what he was doing. It is very obvious he loves animals and when my dog had to stay overnight for a few days, I was very worried about him being alone at night but Dr. Toole assured me that he would be there overnight. His staff was really good about providing updates when I called to check up on my dog and before I took him home, they even de-matted him and cleaned him up. The average price for what my dog was being treated for is about $980, Dr. Toole's rates were a little bit higher than that but I felt it was worth it for the peace of mind. One thing I also appreciated was the fact that he did not try to sell me on his vet-approved dog food like many other vets have done in the past. Highly recommended!

Remarkable customer service. They did not have time to see my pet today but very promptly got the doctor to speak with me on the phone to discuss my pets symptoms. He gave me some great recommendations and number and names of other places to try and call to get my pet seen today. What a kind and caring doctor. God bless you guys all over at this clinic. I cannot express how grateful I am to have found Dr. Toole. He took in my dog for flea treatment and boarding on Christmas Day after visiting a relatives house and finding those little buggers all over him. We called and within an hour we had an appointment. And most recently he took in my poor sick cat during this covid pandemic and admitted her into surgery immediately. She started showing symptoms on Monday and by Friday she was already home and recovering. All his staff are incredibly helpful as well. So thank you so much to the whole team at Village Gate!!
