My poor shizhtu had got flees from the dog park and has rashes from scratching all over his body and the first thing I did was bring him to this clinic which is his home clinic! I came at 7:30am this morning in the dot as a concerned parent just wanting the revolution flee medication which I always buy ! Was told I had to wait to schedual an appointment so I can do something even though this to me is an emergency situation. He is in a lot of discomfort from the itching. I now am getting on the TTC To go find a vet who WILL give me medication to help his condition. My dog has been a client for six years. Very ashamed of the service I just received.

I had a great experience at this vet clinic with Dr Julie Downer. I came home at 8:30pm to find that my cat was quite ill and needed to be seen as soon as possible. I had never been to this clinic before, but I called them because they are open late on week nights. They were able to fit me and my cat in within an hour. I left my cat overnight so that they could collect a urine sample. I know that my cat was well looked after, and I was pleasantly surprised at the cost. Going to the vet is never cheap by any means, but my bill came out to a lot less than I would have expected. I didn't feel like they were pushing meds on me or guilting me into spending more than I could afford. Dr Downer called me personally the next evening to discuss the results of the analysis and talk about the next steps, and someone else from the clinic called me a few days later to ask how things were going. I will most likely make this my regular vet clinic, even though there are a number of clinics closer to my home. I especially appreciate the convenient late night hours.

Hospital staff accommodated my cat with a last minute, urgent appointment on a Sunday. Everyone was kind and I felt safe in regards to covid protocols. Significantly more reasonable pricing than other clinics in the area. Thanks so much for helping Gooey. ❤️

This is our first experience with the Bloor Animal Hospital and we are glad to say it was an amazing one. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. We are looking forward to the care they will provide our puppy as she grows. The Dr was great and was able to answer all of our many, many questions. After only a few short minutes we knew we made the right choice of Vets. Prices are competitive and the hours are amazing. A very happy setting for us and our pup. First of all: Thank you for saving my dogs life! I brought my puppy into BAH on a weekday evening with acute symptoms. They diagnosed that he had aspiration pneumonia and referred us into an AMAZING emergency animal hospital immediately. Since then they have become our regular vets and have been great to us. This place cares more about your animals than making a buck. I can't say enough about the awesome caring staff who work here. If you're looking for the best possible place to take care of your little friend, bring them here. You will not be disappointed!!

Everyone working here is so nice and they don't push you to buy extra services/medicine. My dog is pretty antsy and hyper but they didn't seem annoyed or mad about it at all (like other animal hospitals I've been to). Really recommend this place! EDIT: Still a lovely place! Brought our cat in for some vaccines and they absolutely adore animals and are very gentle and let you know everything about pricing and options and don’t surprise you with sudden charges.

They are fantastic here! My beagle Olive, my Chihuahua Winifred & my kitty Jasper are all patients here. They are gentle, understanding and compassionate. They go above and beyond to meet our needs - there have been a few urgent appointments needed over the years, and they ALWAYS make time for us, even when they're busy (which we appreciate beyond measure). Unlike others vets I've been to over the years, they always give it to me straight, and outline all possible options for treatment; I've NEVER felt pressured by them to spend more than needed - I've definitely been to other vets where they pushed high dollar, unnecessary treatments or meds. My animals are my babies, and I trust Bloor animal hospital implicitly with them.

So happy I started coming to Bloor Animal Hospital! I chose to bring my dog here after a terrible, cold experience at another vet office. Here the receptionists, nurses, and vets are always been happy, caring, and display an amazing capacity of compassion. Around Christmas time I brought my dog in for an incident. He had eaten a mitten and it was not passing. This was 2-days before Christmas Eve and Dr. Downer and the team really pulled out all the stops for us to get our dog mitten-free in time for the holidays. This included referring us to another emergency vet clinic that had the necessary equipment to have him ultra-sounded and scoped - Bloor Animal Hospital handled all the details and made sure we were able to get an appointment with the specialist at this other clinic despite the vet in question being moments away from going on vacation for the holidays. Super appreciative for their efforts and care.

I called earlier today to purchase some canned dog food which I have purchased from them previously on Saturday. The lady on the other end of the line asked me to prepay and I did so and also informed her that I would be there in 10 to 15 minutes, which I arrived on time. When I arrived there was already a client at the front waiting to be attended as well, the staff that came out to attend that client did not even give me the courtesy of looking me in the eye and asked me to hold on or nor did she acknowledge my presence there. I had to then recall the store and tell them that I was outside waiting for the canned food and no one came to the door to meet me for another 10 minutes. Only when somebody came to collect a receipt from the window cleaner was I able to get a word in and tell them again that I'm there for the canned food. I have heard so many great things about this place but I guess it is only true when you are client there with an animal in their care.

Brought my cat in for a fever and was immediately pushed to get x-rays (how is that logical) before anything else including antibiotics. They also ran the bill up with unnecessary charges and an overnight stay of over $800 that only included an IV of fluids (and this is an unsupervised overnight stay where the animal is alone for 8 hours!). Recently went to another vet and the difference was amazing. Only go here if you want to pay a premium.

Extremely friendly staff. I accidentally cut my dogs nail too short and he was bleeding, naturally I was losing it and rushed down here. They treated him and were very compassionate, on top of that they didn't even charge! I couldn't believe it! They also gave him lots of treats and he had a very positive experience. I was concerned about my cat, who was in some discomfort. I was looking online for a clinic that would be open on a Sunday, and found Bloor Animal Clinic (near Jane). The staff were welcoming and extremely helpful! Dr. Julie Downer was the consulting vet, who carefully examined my 'baby' and then performed a procedure that was necessary to 'Myre's health. I live in the east end and normally would go to a vet there but as I am pet sitting in the west end was thrilled there was a wonderful, modern facility open today. They even offered me a beverage!!! Thanks Bloor Animal Hospital staff!!! Myre is comfortable and I am relaxed knowing she is a happy, healthy (except for some extra weight ;) cat!

Took my dog in due to a food allergy, she received a shot of Benadryl and some eye drops. I paid $160 for the medication, eye drops and just to have them see my dog. The hours are great but way to overpriced. Worst part about all this it never helped my dog I had to take her to another vet. Unless it's an emergency or you're loaded with money try to avoid this place.

I love this place for the following: 1: they care about my dog. She always gets the biggest warm welcome from the receptionists right when we come in. The vets are great and they have given me very helpful and reasonable recommendations that have helped my pup. 2: in my experience, they've been very prompt and for the most part on-time (you can't expect any clinic for humans or animals for that matter to be exactly on schedule, if you think otherwise, try having to wait in a fracture clinic in a hospital a few times, then you will learn the real definition of running late). 3: they are reasonably priced, and don't try and push any of their products on you, instead will inform you if you want more info. 4: They're open until after regular work hours, makes it less stressful to get there during the week 5: they send text/email notifications regarding your upcoming appointments, or what vaccines your pet is due for. I moved about two years ago and moved to this vet in the process, and I have no regrets.

I’m giving three stars out of the benefit of the doubt and convenience of the location. Full transparency, I haven’t visited this location nor any Bloor Animal Hospital. However when I registered my cat online, a glitch in their records management system meant that I couldn’t login with the account credentials I set up. So I haven’t successfully been able to register my cat here. I also called to try to book an appointment, and because of a miscommunication while addressing an accessibility need and asking about cancellation policies, the call was ended curtly. I can understand why the rep was frustrated and have no qualms with that, just that experience along with their lack of Fear Free certification makes me hesitant to bring my pets here.

I gave a better rating before, but I've had to change it to 3 stars at this point. The staff are generally nice, but we've been charged extra on multiple occasions for purchases (and a procedure) that were only caught after we'd noticed the error on our invoice. We'd understand if it was a very rare occurrence because human error is a thing, but it's been so frequent that we have to stress about double checking the invoice. Not only that, but when I've had to call back to ask about the discrepancy I feel I was often treated as if the error was our fault. We initially switched to Bloor Animal Hospital due to the location, but at this point we've made the decision to switch back to our original hospital.

The receptionist here is thoroughly incompetent. She called me to book a follow up appointment after my cat's injury, and was pushing the pain meds really really hard as if she was getting commission on them. I see my cat everyday and the tone that she was using was riddled with undeserved urgency. She was extremely condescending about the way I raise my cat and would not accept my opinions or discretion as if she knew better than me (which I'm sure she does, but the tone was all wrong). Long story short, she threatened to call the SPCA on me and hung up on me. Now, I love my cat more than any other random human. This woman is just highly unprofessional and plain rude. I'm never going to this place again.

Every visit we have had to wait over 45 minutes past our scheduled appointment time, even when it is just to see a technician (no vet). Really appreciate their longer hours! Was able to get my dog in after she had an urgent issue the same evening. Not super affordable, but honestly is very on par with vet costs in 2021. Dr Lyons is super friendly and awesome! Looking forward to being able to come in person again, as all vets still require a front door drop off due to Covid-19. Definitely recommend!

They told me that it’s only by appointment and for me to drive downtown, although I live 5 min away from this hospital. Disappointed that they would just let my dog struggle like this because it’s "by appointment only" never coming back here and wouldn’t suggest it to anybody anymore! Disappointing staff behaviour

The clinic is clean and modern, with ample room to sit with your pet and they stock a wide variety of high quality food. The hours are very good, as you can make appointments on the week end, and in many cases, they will always find time for you. I am very fortunate to live near this practice, the staff are wonderful.

Over the holidays, we had a serious vomiting issue with our pup. Our current vet was closed due to Covid, and the emergency vets were full. We were desperate, and luckily we stumbled across Bloor Animal Hospital. They were open on Sunday after New Year's Day, and had a cancellation. Dr. Lyons was amazing. She took the time to understand our situation, and provided us with options to get our pup back on her feet and break the vomit cycle. Luckily, everything now seems fine. They are far from us, but it's good to know we have caring and reliable option if our existing vet isn't available. The longer hours and 7 days a week is a real benefit to those who live in the area! Wish our vet had the same hours. Thanks to the entire team at Bloor Animal Hospital!

I had a very good experience here. We are very skeptical of veterinary clinics however this location is good. Parking is a little hard to find. Staff are friendly and kind and enjoy talking. The staff told us they take their own pets here. The price was very reasonable and the doctor gave us multiple options for the best treatment for our pet. including the most expensive but they did not pressure us in any way to opt for that one. I know we will be taking our cats here again in the future.

Been coming here for years. Until recently always experienced good service. Now...veterinarians don’t call with test results and don’t return phone calls. I have to chase them down for days just to have concerns addressed, once payment is made...forget about follow ups. The receptionists have no idea what they’re doing, can’t even answer simple questions about the products they are selling. No respect for appointment times. Expect wait 15-30 minutes after your scheduled time to finally be seen. Overall, poor experience. Can’t seem to pay enough money for this place to care about you pet. Sad.

My pupp had this lump on his tummy and ANOTHER clinic told us it might be tumor or cancer and it must be removed surgically with cost of around $1300 while I was very suspicious about their recommendation. So, we went to Bloor animal hospital for a second opinion and Dr. Julie Downer very patiently explained to us that it was just some fatty tissues and drained it all with no surgery. She was excellent with our dog and we decided to permanently change our clinic to Bloor animal hospital. Without Dr. Julie Downer's help we could have been scammed in another animal clinic. Also the front desk staff in this hospital are very nice and helpful. We had a great experience and will come back again. And its so great that they are open on Sundays!

The staff took excellent care of us and we were provided with hot beverages. When we got in to see the vet, she was wonderful; addressing all concerns and taking great care of our cat. At the end of the visit we were sent home with antibiotics. The total cost of the appointment was about $160.00.

A colleague of mine recommended Bloor Animal Hospital when I adopted my senior dog in fall of 2020. He’s had a few health complications so I’ve taken him to the clinic quite frequently; always met with friendly service. The best part of this clinic are their hours! I work shift work and so having a clinic open until 11pm is perfect because it works with any schedule, as well as the weekends. I specifically want to point out the excellent care I’ve gotten with Dr. Riddle - I spoke with him about budget limitations and he was very understanding of this, and was not creating any pressure for trying certain procedures or medications.

After 7 years as a client with my three dogs, I am very disappointed with how Bloor Animal Hospital has let me down. This was a clinic I trusted and recommended to others. Just this week I defended them when a friend told me about a recent bad experience they had however, they have now lost my trust too and I will never go back. Dr. Downer has always been wonderful and a vet I’ve trusted so I have only good things to say about her. Unfortunately, this week I experienced such incompetence from the reception staff regarding a screw up over my 15 year old dog’s heart medication, which he has been on for 5 years, and then a lack of accountability and responsibility from another doctor (not Dr. Downer) that I can never trust the clinic again. Conduct trickles down from the top and after my disappointing conversation with the owner/doctor today, I’m not surprised by the reception staff’s unreliability and complete indifference. Perhaps this is an isolated bad incident, or maybe things have gone downhill. The silver lining is after reading many wonderful reviews about Animal Hospital of High Park, I’ve found a new clinic. They were very helpful, straightforward and a pleasure to deal with. They seem to really care. Thank you Dr. Regan.

I brought my cat here for an emergency appointment as my vet was closed. They accommodated me with a same day appointment. All staff were friendly and caring and I felt my cat was in really good hands. After some IV fluids and medication she was back to herself within a couple of days! I would continue to come to this clinic if it wasn't so far from me!

They ALWAYS overcharge and over-prescribe. They charged $22.50 for the simple writing of a prescription for pills my dog probably doesn't need. Most places would have charged half that amount. They were unable to explain why that fee was necessary. Will no longer be using their over- priced services.

Today this clinic made clear that animals mean little to nothing for them. One of my two cats fainted in the afternoon and I called the clinic in a panic to see if it would be possible for them to see him. At this point it was 4:25 and the clinic closes at 5. I could have been there in 10 minutes which means 25 minutes before their closing time. I explained it was an emergency and I was calling to make sure someone would be able to see my cat but the woman I spoke to said that they close at 5 so I should go elsewhere because they won’t see my cat no matter what. Both of our pets have been pacients of that clinic for a while and I cannot believe they had the nerve to say that to me after I explained all I wanted was a quick check-up to know if he was fine to wait until Monday for a proper vet visit or we should head to an emergency hospital immediately (which is very expensive) They told me to take him to the emergency hospital. Luckily we spoke to another veterinarian that not only was outraged about the behaviour of this clinic but checked a few things on the cat and told us it was perfectly fine to wait until Monday if no changes happen during the rest of the weekend. I believe my cats deserve a veterinarian that thinks their life is more important than closing on time and that understands that a 5 minute check up can mean a 500$ difference. Therefore we won’t be coming back to this place and will strongly recommend against bringing any pets here.

Cannot say enough great amazing things about every staff member that works at this clinic. The hours and ease of getting an appointment are super flexible and convenient and the service and super friendly staff are above and beyond any vet I’ve taken my pet to. When we lost our dog we discovered this clinic when we took Jack there to be cremated. The level of compassion and white glove service was it for us. Loyal clients from now with our new puppy George. He loves going because of all the warm attention and care he gets! And he gets awesome toys too!

Have been here twice for our cat when he was having stomach issues. They were wonderful right from the phone call to make an appointment, to the front desk when we arrived and then the examination itself, both times just great. We also really love their hours, as things happen to our beloved pets at any hour, not just between 9-5, plus people work so it's next to impossible to get to a vet anytime before 6pm on weekdays for most people. Did not get a good vibe. Distrubed to learn the dogs are put in cages out of sight (they dont tel you this unless you ask). Will find another practice where the vet makes him or herself visible to the client. Only staff greet you at the door. Seems over the top. Not even sure what the vet’s name is- its certainly not on the invoice. Quoted 350 for an xray (perhaps that is market price but not surprised if it isnt now that i have read the comments).

I have been bringing my cat to Bloor Animal Hospital for the past 2 years, and would highly recommend it! The doctors are all fantastic. My cat has recently been in the hospital, and even through shift changes, each doctor has been extremely thorough, and have called me morning and evening with updates on my pet. I've always found their pricing to be very fair, and they only charge for what they need to (my bill was even reduced for something they didn't need to do!). Their hours are fantastic! It is great to know that my pet can receive excellent care to fit with my schedule, at a reasonable price. Thank you to everyone at Bloor Animal Hospital for taking such good care of my cat Fizz!

As per the College of Veterinarians Ontario’s decision in response to my complaint filed against a veterinarian at Bloor Animal Hospital (BAH): “The dental surgery performed by the veterinarian…was performed in an incompetent and negligent manner which caused suffering and pain to the dog. In particular, a) The veterinarian left root remnants in the dog’s mouth. b) The veterinarian failed to inform the owner about the root remnants left in the dog’s mouth. c) The veterinarian failed to record in the medical records that root remnants were left inside the dog’s mouth. ...The dog had a tooth root for tooth 303 that was penetrating the gingiva, along with a number of tooth roots still present in the bone.” Tooth root 303 was discovered and extracted by our current veterinarian at a nearby clinic, but the other three embedded in her jaws were left as is because an excavation attempt at this point would have posed a separate surgical risk on its own. The retained roots pose an ongoing risk of discomfort, pain, and other pathology which may compromise my dog’s health and longevity. The College defended the veterinarian insisting that the veterinarian apologized. What I had hoped for were transparency and accountability, i.e., an explanation of investigative efforts made, full disclosure of all testimonies, and a voluntary refund – none of which were offered. I sent a letter to BAH asking for a refund of $2,916.44 which is what I spent on the surgeries that were not conducted in accordance with veterinary standards as outlined in the College’s decision and reasons and the procedure to extract tooth root 303. In response, BAH sent an insurance claim adjuster, who proposed a refund winnowed down to $181.75 and demanded a full and final release. He stated “you would be entitled to be put back into a financial position that you would have been in had the error not occurred, as best as is possible. With respect to the procedures, these were necessitated due to your dog's dental health rather than any error by our insureds, and as such the costs of these procedures are not a compensable damage. Case law is clear that a service provider is entitled to compensation for their work, even when a portion of that work may fall short of standard.” I wrote to both the College and BAH (via the claim adjuster) questioning the fairness of this, but they did not respond. The refund is about principle. I will not sign a release for $181.75 or any amount below the actual cost, as that would implicate that my dog’s health and well-being do not matter. This is not even considering additional veterinary costs I may incur to address future complications. What bothers me the most is that the Hospital staff showed no sensitivity or consideration over unnecessary treatments and excessive unexpected hospital bill. The doctor I dealt with was not transparent about options of treatments, associated risks, and costs under each option; the front desk staff is uncomfortable and not trained to explain the bills; and the General Manager is arrogant and a customer service disaster who will suggest you to find a hospital which better suits your pet's needs if you complain of the charges and their lack of transparency practice. My 2 year old dog didn't eat for less than 24 hours. Although she had no signs of vomiting, diarrhea or fever, I decided to take her to the hospital as a precaution. The doctor was quick to prescribe blood work and a Cerenia injection without mentioning the cost. I was shocked to see a total charge of $640 afterwards. My dog ate a full bowl of food after coming home from the Hospital and was back to her normal self, thanks to the Cerenia injection given at the Hospital, at a very reasonable cost of $43. I called the doctor and the Manager the next few days questioning the need of blood work at an unexpected cost of $340. While the Manager admitted that owners should have been informed of the cost prior to any treatments, she said I should have put a stop to send blood to the lab before it was too late. The statement is troublesome as it shows the hospital lacks the culture of providing services at the best interest of pet owners. Instead, they care about maximizing their profit and put the onus on pet owners to inquire about the costs and options. Had I been advised the option to delay sending blood to the lab until later that day or the next morning if symptoms persisted or gotten worse, I would be thanking the hospital for being considerate and mindful of their customers. Response to hospital owner's reply: Pet insurance is quoted based on 3-year average medical costs from the neighbouring animal hospitals. It's easy to tell pet owners to get pet insurance and not worry about unexpected hospital bills; It also makes easier for the hospital to over-prescribe without worrying about too many complains from pet owners. Ever wonder why pet insurance is expensive and ever increasing: the high cost is eventually being absorbed by insurance premium payers. It is to the hospital's interest to prescribe blood work or scans whenever possible, which provides more certainty to the results and less chance for professional mistakes, as opposed to what pet owners expect from medical professionals: which is to take the time to examine, inquire and analyze. It is time for pet owners to stand up to a general statement that "healthcare is expensive" without accepting accountabilities.

Our pets are our family and when issues arise, finding a vet you can depend on to care for your little one is so important. I have been going to this vet for about a year and all of my experiences have been pleasant. Not only do they show compassion during appointments but they do checkins through phone calls and emails to follow up after appointments, are there to help you when you phone in with an issue and are so friendly at all levels. The most important part is feeling like they genuinely care and have your pets best interest in mind, not about how much money they can get from you when recommending diagnosis and treatment. Have been a client with BAH for a couple years now, and it increasingly seems like the company is focused on profit margins. We have been seeing the same doctor (who I will not name), in our initial appointments, we were all very happy. But as my pup has suffered from Hot Spot itching, we have tried to bring the problem up to the same doctor multiple times. It has now been 3 appointments later and there have been no attempt at identifying what the source of the problem is. Instead we are being charged a $180 consult fee, and $130+ for prescriptions each visit! If this can't be addressed, it may be time to find a new vet. That said, BAH is an AMAZING vet, just very pricey
