A new vet came to the clinic - Dr. Whitcombe. He is a great vet and fits well into the quality Baxter team. My dog does not normally like male vets, but Dr. Whitcombe is the first one she hasn't minded. I like the fact that they are no pressure about treatment and give you quotes for pricing before procedures. They are also very good at explaining all the options out for you - what we can do right now and where we can head in the future if necessary. Receptionists are amazing at trying to fit you in for urgent care.

From my first initial check up, to my last minute appointment today to calm my nerves for a tiny little "sickness", it has been all around a great experience, both times. Caring staff with kind hearts. They're always helpful and knowledgeable. I trust them implicitly with my furry friends. My only wish is for better/lower prices. I've received equally exceptional service out of town for a much lower cost. However, for in town veterinary care I do reccomend them highly. They aren't the most costly but they aren't the cheapest either. Their amazing service and knowledge is what makes me give them the rating I've given.

Great place to bring your fur baby!! We brought our 4 lb tea cup Yorky there for emergency care on a weekend... they took care of us quickly and dr took the time to answer all our questions and concerns... very down to earth. Receptionist was very nice and empathized with us. Overall a great place!

100% the best vet in Sudbury. Allmost all the other vets refused to look at my dog that was pissing blood and the few that would wanted a minimum 500$ to look at her. They took her in immediately and cost me a total of 300$ with the meds.

I took my 8 week old husky puppy to baxter animal hospital last JUNE 2018 in an emergency situation they were the oncall hospital DR Blatt and MIchelle RVT acted and responded quickly and saved my dogs life !! I was crying and visibly shaken and Michelle gave me a big hug ! As new puppy owners, we were nervous about providing the best care for our dog. Baxter Animal Hospital has taken great care of our new addition and has been able to answer any of our questions or concerns. The receptionist (Anne) is so pleasant and attentive! The technician that we had (Michelle) was able to supply us with information that we needed in order to make sure we are doing all the right things. Our vet (Joanne) was gentle and caring for our puppy and put our minds at ease with all the questions we had. Definitely would recommend! :)

Great experience at Baxter Animal Hospital! We were on our way for an after hours c-section when our girl decided to whelp one block away from hospital. Upon our arrival we were greeted with caring staff and provided with warm accommodations, equipment to complete the delivery and even some coffee to settle our nerves! I especially like the way the support staff and vet techs are so friendly and helpful. Drs. Tim, Morag, and Bev are great vets - they are good at explaining the issues in a way that I can understand. One thing that is important to me is that I am treated with respect and my observations and concerns aren't dismissed. I'm never disappointed with Baxter Animal Hospital, no matter the reason for a visit or phone call. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else.

My usual veterinarian wasn't available so I called Baxter hoping to make an appointment. I was able to bring my dog in the next day. All the staff was very friendly and very caring towards my dog. He was very agitated during the visit and procedure but all the staff were very patient, understanding and helpful. I used to visit this vet frequently for my dog but I will never be returning again. I called in saying I was gonna be 5 minutes late for my sick cats appointment, I was refused by a very moody secretary that did firmly told me they close at 5 and my appointment was at 4h30. I was offered very poor customer service. The secretary also looked up my home address and suggested that there was no way i'd make it in 5 minutes. I told her I was gonna be 5 minutes late, not that I just left home. I did not feel like it was alright to look up my personal information on file just to see where I was coming from. I was a good customer, and every single other time I went I always waited 10-15 minutes before even being given a room, never mind seeing a vet.. but it looks like they cannot wait 5 minutes for you when it's near closing because they would rather leave early than tend to a sick cat.

Where to begin. We had to take our boy to get him looked at as he was really sick and needed attention. Long story short in the end we ended up we had to put him down after 12 years and I am telling you that everyone that was there last night was amazing. I cannot say enough kind words about how we were treated, how our dog was treated and just everything they did to try and make it easier on us. Thank you so much. My 18 year old cat had been acting out of the ordinary so I sent in an online appointment request for the Tursday. They called me 20 minutes after hitting send, and asked if I could go in today (Tuesday) at 130pm! I obliged of course! I saw Dr. Whitcombe, and he treated my girl with much TLC. They did bloodwork right there and allowed me to stay in the room to wait for the results.❤ I chilled and snuggled my cat as we waited privately to find out why she's been behaving as she has. The results came back. She has diabetes. Dr Whitcombe was very thorough in explaining everything necessary to me, and not making me feel ashamed at all when I broke down a little in the office. He sent me home with new food for my girl, and time to figure out how I wanted to proceed. I felt no pressure at all! I'm happy to say that I'm waiting for Wednesday to go in to take part in a needle administration clinic to get her started on insulin. Not only is Dr. Whitcombe amazing, but so is the staff. Everyone is friendly. And as a person struggling financially, they never make me feel as though I'm not doing the best that I can for my cat. Super supportive all the way around.❤ I definitely recommend Baxter Animal hospital.

I have been a client since 2001. Dr. Baxter, Dr. Maskery and Dr. Blatt are the most caring individuals I have ever met. From the moment you enter you building, you are greeted by Jen, Anne or Rhonda and made to feel welcome and comfortable. All three vets have gone above and beyond their duties for my puppies.We had a beautiful lab who had epilepsy and required regular checkups and testing. Near the end of her life, we relocated to Northwestern Ontario. Dr. Baxter kept close contact with the vet up there and with myself about my girl. Our coonhound is fourteen now and thriving...our new lab is also thriving. They receive regular checkups and testing to ensure their health. All the vets and techs make personal contact with your pet and show them love.After all these years,my dogs are still not afraid to go to the vet.I wouldn't trust their care with anyone else. Honest, caring and compassionate....everything you could ask for your loved pet and yourself

Dr. Taylor was negligent and misdiagnosed my dog - which resulted in the wrong treatment pathway . Ultimately he ruled out cancer WITHOUT ACTUALLY TESTING for cancer. This negligence led to my dog suffering, and passing away unsuspectingly within weeks.

The receptionist that I spoke to said all I needed to know about the type of animal clinic Baxter Animal Hospital is. My dog injured her front paw today playing ball and I was extremely upset about it, considering she might have to go the vet, which as a student is financially difficult. The first thing I asked the receptionist was about how much x-rays would be and she gave me a very reasonable quote. She then explained to me the Vet could look at the leg and do their own examination before any x-rays needed to be done. I then explained to her that my dog could still apply a bit of weight on her front leg, which she then told me showed that it might just be soft tissue injury and could be temporary- so it might get better in a day or so. Well thankfully after giving my dog a bit of rest at home, she already seems to be doing so much better. Although it was a quick conversation, I just want to say how much I appreciate this person I spoke to on the phone. The entire conversation was just so wonderful, she was very helpful, sweet, honest, and understanding of my situation. If my dog does need to go to the vet in the future, I will be sure to go to Baxter Animal Hospital! They clearly demonstrated that they sincerely care about animals :) A class act!

The only negative is they are a little more expensive than other places. I will follow that by adding I will not go anywhere else. Excellent care of my dog and two cats from adoption to end of life. They always advise what is best for the animal not the clinic and are the most caring group of people you could ask for. I first brought my dog here in December 2015 as a second opinion when I was originally told he had only days to live due to kidney failure. The friendly staff and doctor re-assessed the results and did confirm the kidney failure but also mentioned to me that after examining him, asking a few questions and with his daily activity life that it was probably something he has had since birth and that he has learned to compensate for it somehow. They recommended putting him a low protein diet, always providing plenty of fresh water and as long as his activity level and appetite remained that I shouldn't worry too much. Life expectancy however could be cut short due to the disease. It is now late May 2017 and my little buddy is still going strong, some days stronger than ever with plenty of activity level. I am forever grateful for their second opinion on this matter.

I have been with Dr. Baxter for quite few years and have been with Baxter Animal Hospital since it opened in 1997. Dr. Baxter ensures that only the best veterinarians work in the clinic and having been with the clinic for all these years I can certainly attest to that. My pet family have had health issues from cancer, epilepsy, heart issues, autoimmune issues, diabetes, kidney issues,displaced spinal discs - to name a few - and sometimes having 3-4 pets at a time with issues - these issues and my pets have been looked after and handled with the greatest of knowledge, efficiency, medical care, care and compassion. And at any time, when the medical issue is beyond the clinic's scope, there is no hesitation to refer to veterinary specialists - there has never been any - "well let's try this and that" there was no time wasted in getting my pets the medical care they needed; all of the vets, present and past were personable, approachable and answered questions to their best of their ability and "in English" so that the terms were understandable. They provided full and necessary education of whatever I was faced with and how to handle issues. With regards to the staff, ie. technicians and reception, I can only speak of the best of knowledge, expertise, care and compassion; if an answer is not readily at hand, they will find it and contact me as soon as possible - no waiting, no uncertainty in regards to my pets' health issues; they are professional, friendly, caring and compassionate. I have lost many pets to their illness' during my time with Baxter Animal Hospital and the compassion and sympathy they share and extend - their understanding and support is second to none. They always call to see how my pets are faring after surgery, a procedure, a visit - and I know that they are there for me with a quick phone call...and either the issue is looked after quickly or my fears are alleviated. There are few words to describe the comfort, safety, peace of mind and appreciation I have for Baxter Animal Hospital. You are always greeted with a smile, a laugh and when you really needed, a great big hug. xxoo

Our chocolate labrador, Spencer, met his new vet at Baxter Animal Hospital, yesterday. His excellent previous vet moved to BC. Dr. Tim Blatt was totally awesome with Spence. He was down on the floor with him having a great visit. Spence responded with several licks and tail wagging. Dr. Blatt is an excellent communicator and very caring person. Spencer is in great hands with Dr. Blatt and the superb Baxter Animal Hospital team.

I love Baxters. Dr Tim used to be my man but now we alway see Dr. Taylor. It really doesn't matter which vet we see there. I always feel listened too and respected. Able to have educated conversations with out feeling judged for knowing to much or too little. Front staff is welcoming, clinic is alway clean
