My pug went in for a cancerous mouth tumour. The entire staff, including the receptionists, surgery team, etc, were absolutely fantastic. The communication we received was by far the best we’ve ever experienced. Since we live in regina, this made us very comfortable knowing our baby was in good hands every step of the way! Thank you so much!

I have been taking my dogs and cats to the U of S Small Animal Clinic for over 20 years, and they have always received excellent care. Because it is a teaching facility, the pets always receive thorough examinations and there is easy access to specialists (in the rare event they are needed).

Took my cat in after a scrap left him with a bloody ear and and injured left paw. The staff was all very nice but I ended up waiting for 3 and a half hours to get my cat back. It’s not great that they don’t let you watch the examination especially when the animal is stressed. They also sedated my cat which seems more of teaching some students than actually helping him (Plus that’s an extra 70$). Im gonna stick with prarieland vet clinic from now on as they take a fraction of the time and money, also are great with handling my pet with care.

Excellent! Clean, organized, excellent service and I felt very comfortable with their care of my parrot.

Professional and caring staff. Excellent hospital to get pet operations done. Their post op follow-ups are informative and they are eager to point out options to a successful recovery.

Great doctors and very knowledgeable but the problem is that you rarely get to see the same doctor twice therefore you have to go through there whole history with every visit. So unfortunately you don't get to establish a relationship with a veterinarian.

Came after hours. The vet was very nice and patient.

The wait time was quite long in a few of my appointments. The staff is wonderful and walked me through each appointment. I wish there was more consistency in the information I received.

Rita Schmidt

Staff are very friendly. Parking is free, which is nice. We had an appointment and waited 45 minutes past the appointment time to be seen. Vets are students at various stages of training, but there is also an actual vet there. Vets are very knowledgeable and kind.

Our dog was referred here for her IVDD surgery. They took great care of her the entire time, and were very good to explain everything about the process. She was in the best of care, and is luckily now recovering at home. Thank you to the entire team— we are forever grateful.

I had an amazing experience here. Even though my bird passed, it was In no way thier fault, and everything they did afterwards was so helpful and thoughtful! The people who work here are so kind, the prices are better then the vets, and theh even sent a little card and his footprints in a ceramic block! Very wonderful place that I'd strongly recommend.

Jacie Wiebe

I always bring my bird here because I didn't like the other bird clinic in town. My only problem is that I have a very anxious bird, and there is not a "regular" vet that sees your pet, it is a rotating set of students, but they all know what they are doing, and the service is great!

Megan is AMAZING!! she was the senior vet student that was my cats vet over the weekend when we showed up to the clinic. The entire staff here is super professional and friendly- they helped my cat so much and I'm so appreciative to them. If your pet is ever having a medical emergency I would recommend this place 100%.

My dog surgery was done twice! And it was vets prediction, SO why not do it correctly the first time?! It cost over $3000, to use my dog as a "model" patient ????

It was Saturday, February 8, 2020 when we called to bring our special feline Felix to this professional facility. Following a week long effort in Prince Albert, SK we recieved a referral to this clinic. Although the outcome was tragic and we were saddened by his loss, this group was phenomenal in their compassion and service...thank-you.

Katie Clarissa

Very helpful and friendly. The vet walked me through step by step and explained what was most important for my dog. Will definitely return :)

Our puppy had surgery and obviously had to be shaved. She had such severe razor burns, they scabbed and caused her more discomfort than the actual surgery. Staff offered no treatment options to reduce discomfort. Fortunately I have a vet in the family (not in the city) and friends who helped. As well, overmedication/sedation resulted in a need for drug reversal - puppy discomfort, my cost - vet college received education opportunity. Surgery was more invasive than planned (inexperienced first year resident) - longer under anesthetic; more drugs; more cost; more healing time. Also not a fan of your closed door policy. It would be nice if you were more open to allowing pet owners more involvement in their pet's care. Human healthcare (teaching) facilities recognize the value and encourage it.

May 16 2020, my dog has been diagnosed with a Hemangiosarcoma on his spleen which could rupture any day now. We called to get an understanding of how to properly prepare in case of an emergency rupture to cause as little suffering as possible for our dog and to my surprise this clinic has made the decision to not allow people in to put down and say goodbye to their animals. Majority of the day clinics are dressing people up and allowing 1 to 2 people in the room with the animal. This is outrageous and will be giving us many sleepless nights now worrying. I will not be giving my business to this clinic at all anymore. Very Disgraceful.

I brought my cat in for emergent care and the staff was really wonderful. They were professional and considerate in an awful situation. Thank you to everyone that helped me and my little guy and thank you for the beautiful card and print.

Brought my dog who had a mouth infection. Stood in front of the receptionist desk for about 10 minutes without so much as a hello before she acknowledged I was even there. Paid their 225$ emergency fee and was told it’s be about an hour wait. 2.5+ hours later and nobody came to get us. People who came in after me with similar issues (eye infections) had doctors come out and take their pets but I just sat in their waiting room with no one even bothering to check in or acknowledge the long wait. Finally after nearly 3 hours I went up to the desk to ask how much longer it would be and was told that soon someone would come out and ask about my dogs history (just his history! Not even to treat or examine him!)... and they could let me know how much longer the wait would be. So I got a refund and left. Really disappointing the total lack of service or consideration shown to not just me but my sick dog. If you’re charging $200+ for a visit you’d think you would ideally provide some bare minimum of service. I’d suggest staying away unless you have no other choice in Saskatoon.

Bre C

I brought my sick skinny pig to them. She unfortunately passed away despite everything possible being done. All the receptionists were very sweet and caring, and the vet who cared for her (Dr. Losada). I never felt in the dark about what I was being charged for her care, I got frequent updates and you could tell that Dr. Losada loves her job and her patients. If you are ever in need of a vet for a small animal I highly recommend heading here and requesting Dr.Losada. Losing a pet is very difficult but having incredible knowledgeable staff made mourning my pet that much easier.

Lisa Kaytor

I have been taking my bunny there on a semi regular basis for over a year and the staff have been compassionate, caring and very informative. I would now never take my bunny anywhere else.

The Rogue Less Travelled

Completely dissatisfied. 3.5 hrs waiting in the lobby, they said they hadn’t looked at our dog yet. Proceeded to say he definitely needed to be admitted at $600/night. Blood work etc would put us over $1000 and we’d go from there. Did I mention they hadn’t even looked at him yet. Or given him water. Claimed they couldn’t do anything including water until I authorized it. They managed to put a catheter in his arm though, which he is still healing from... We took him home. He was fine the next day. Go to a real Vet is my advise.

Had to bring my wife's old cat Boo in with a badly infected tail from one of the other cats biting her. Dr. went over the complete health of the cat and reassured me that even at fifteen she is leading a healthy and happy life and will continue to do so -- after the surgery needed to remove most of her tail. Boo is now recovered, happy, and healthy, and still the cuddliest cat ever.

Great Service, very caring

Vets here are very well informed, take time to explain things, don't try to rush visits, and don't try to push people toward decisions regarding expensive treatments or euthanasia.

The staff, doctors, and students are very caring & compassionate people all delivering professional service. They are thorough and want to ensure the proper & necessary treatments/procedures are done. The costs are detailed very well, and are quite reasonable considering how expensive any vet visit is but the services are what is necessary. You ARE getting top notch expertise as this is one of the best training facilities to attend that graduate many skilled vets into the world. Patient care is very important, as is making sure the owner of the furchild is ok with all that is happening to their pet. Free parking pass issued by receptionist. If you have questions, simply ask. Rest assured your loved furry one is in excellent care by this medical facility with their expert personnel.

Lost my cat at the clinic. She was in very good condition before I sent her back to double-check her physical states. She had some liver and gall bladder issues. They did dozens of test and I was not given any answers or confirmed diagnosis after spending an excessive amount of money on testing and the deadly surgery. I want her to live longer but they just push me to put her down and asked me to make decisions during the surgery. This is not what humanism is, this is murder. I could spend every penny on my pets, as long as they are alive.

Tammy Remando

They are always so nice there & helpful too! Theyve even saved me lots of $ with suggestions of natural things to try giving to my cat for his anxiety! Great place! They really care about animals!

Samantha Weeks

Would not recommend for non-emergency care. Wellness check ups are no cheaper than other private veterinary clinics, and at the U of S they don't do the exam with you present. The physical exam of your pet is done without you, and can take upward of an hour in the back while you sit in the waiting room. Something I wish I had known in advance.

Raven Sinclair

Took my kitty in for a UTI. They gently poked and prodded her, weighed her, gave her water, waited for her to pee, and eventually got a sample which confirmed what I already knew. I get to enjoy stuffing a pill and liquids into her every twelve hours for a week. She hates me already but I detect less resistance to the painkiller already - little furry addict. The student and the vet were great and explained everything in minute detail which I appreciated. I don't like how they've decorated the place but it's functional. As you can see, Willow has ptsd now. Seeking referrals to a kitty therapist.

HORRIBLE. Pregnant dog, troubled delivery so we went in late Sunday night and were charged $170 for a useless 3 min exam by a woman who struggled with english and could not answer any basic questions about my dog or the exam. The waiting room was filthy and the exam room was downright disgusting, my shoes were covered in hair/fur and I am worried what types of diseases my dog has been exposed to. Just for fun, look up at the filthy air vents if you end up in this clinic. The vet said to pay $2500 and she would arrange a C-section or my dog and the puppy would likely die. I demanded my dog be returned and after watching the vet hesitate with the natural delivery which was already starting, I pushed the clueless vet out of the way to deliver the puppy myself. This was 10 mins after she said my dog needed a $2500 surgery to get the puppy out. Turns out the vet had never delivered a puppy. I had to pull the puppy out of the birth canal myself and if my dog would have been left locked up in the back room my dog and/or the puppy would have been dead. As I walked out I paid the $400 bill! This is only a brief summary of the horror show that night, there are a lot more details I have left out. EDIT: If you honestly want to talk about this story, I will tell you the rest of it but don't post a generic phone number that goes to your generic receptionist who will refer along to some other random person that did not even read my review.

Excellent doctors (and students!) every time I’ve unfortunately had to make a trip here. Also should note the physiotherapists are amazing and one of the coolest experiences I’ve had. Thank you for all you do for our furry friends!!

Kim Anderson

I won't go anywhere else! They treat my cats and dogs very very well!

Tongfei Qin

Terrible place, they should know they are not only vet(although is bad vet) but also teach courses to students who will become a future vet. Chaotic management with terrible service makes them just know money, now COVID-19 can be another shield to cover up their stupid problems. Finally, they killed my bunny, and ask money again and again. You can give them your pets, but a better one or dead one? They all have a long bill on their body. Have Bad evaluation? They just reply call the service manager. And then, no recall and reply anymore.

Titan Titan

Worst people out there my dad can get 3 cow c-sections for less then they are charging me for fluids and a 24 hour hospitalization like are you kidding me!!!!

Anne-Marie Hansen

Very helpful when my cat broke her leg, thank you

Kyle Petten

We brought our dog in because of an issue. The staff handled our case very seriously and we felt very well taken care of. Unfortunately we did not leave the vet with our pup and he won't be returning home to our house again, but the doctor definitely eased the burden of our loss. Highly recommended. Very professional. Thank you.

Barn Owl

I would not recomend this veterinarian clinic as we brought our 7 week old named andira who weighs about 386 grams. We repeadly told them that she just a cold as all the other dogs were diagnosed from corman park but they wouldnt listen and instead they recommens that we should do ct and blood work. We disagreed but they said it was our only option and we wanted to do whatever we could for her so we end up agreeing but what kind of vet would recomment that kind of testing for a 386 grams of a puppy ? which the test end up killing her. They told us she had pneumonia. They did all that testing so they could tell us she had pneumonia ? A cold leads to pneumonia if left untreated. we have consulted with another vet who has 40 years of experiences name which told us that was really unnecessary and inappropriat for what they have done to her as they have killed her.I know what you are doing and the next step is the media and a lawyer. we are not even mad but we paid for professional services instead we got student service.

Rosemary Nazar

Thank you for taking such good care of Chloe during her check-ups, surgery, and radiation therapy.

Great service. We drove out from winnipeg on referral from our local vet. Went with our dog who has cancer, everyone seemed genuinely concerned and wanted to help. We were able to get him in for treatments that day! All of the staff were great with him even tho he as most dogs hate the vet. All doctors were very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Would not hesitate bringing another dog here.

Well what can I say the most caring staff from the reception to the vet students to the Veterinarians. We had to take our dog in on Good Friday. He ended up needing surgery that day. They were amazing on keeping us informed from start to finish. Thank you for helping Yankee we are forever grateful.

They staff are friendly and its clean there. I like that students are learning and under supervision from great vets. They saved my cats life in short notice amputated her leg. My cats leg lost circulation due to careless staff at Acadia Veterinary Clinic whom either put the bandage on wrong(the vet didnt check on my cat after the technician wrapped the bandage) or something went wrong in the surgery. Easy for them since results came back inconclusive regardless, they blamed my cat for throwing an artery at anytime in her life. They reinbursed me in ‘good faith’ instead of fixing the issue. The amputation was needed to save her life and they shod have paid for it. A sugary vet, empty promises and a pay off. I will never forget. The University Small animal clinic cleaned up their mess and saved her life. The staff made me feel comfortable that my cat would be taken care of and I felt they did care about my concerns. The bill was fair. If your pet needs to go through a major surgery go here.

Sharon Leas

Was the only place I knew of to take our cat to when he got injured badly on a Sunday. They cleaned him up and gave him antibiotic but no painkillers. My poor cat didn't eat for a week he was in so much pain. Went to another vet for follow up and they too were shocked that he didn't have any pain meds as his wounds were severe.

I've been here lots lately with a foster dog and the staff are always so good with her and very accommodating. And they always take the time to answer my questions and give me tips for things I can do to help between visits.

Our Coupe is doing well and home resting after his second surgery for Luxating Patella, this time on his left hind leg. We were fortunate that he could stay here in Saskatoon to have this surgery done and not have to go to Alberta again. As always the staff at the U of S Veterinary Centre have provided outstanding care for both Coupe and Austin. A special thank you goes out to the surgical team Dr. Linn, Dr. Dongaonkar and Lindsey Monea along with Dr. Penny and Christine in the rehab centre and Dr. Sheehan for providing excellent general care. We are ever so grateful for the genuine loving care that our boys get each and every time we visit the Centre.

Brandon Nyberg

Always terrible service from this clinic. They are only about price gouging their clients, they absolutely do not care about your animals at all. Would highly recommend staying away from here! Receptionists are extremely rude, the staff working in the clinic are extremely rough with your animals as well. STAY AWAY!!!!

Chris Carson

Had my dog there she had a eye ulcer, the vets were good and didn’t pressure us into more expensive procedures, my dogs eye has healed good over all experience

They were absolutely amazing unfortunately when I had to put my cat down a week and a half ago they were so accommodating and they were so sweet and wonderful and we were able to spend time with our deceased loved one in a gathering room, for as long as we wanted and picked up his ashes 2 days ago thank you again vet college you're wonderful and Puzzle thanks you. rip

Lynn Woods-Nordin

I've traveled from Regina to this clinic a few times over the past 4 years and I always had a very positive experience. In August my dog was severely sick. It was the Small Animal Clinic who had the equipment to do proper diagnostics so the real problem could be identified and treated. I am convinced I would have lost him had it not been for the Small Animal Clinic. Was it cheap? Nope. Did I expect it to be cheap? Nope. I had excellent treatment from the reception staff and Jasmine Gu, DVM and Robin MacRae, BVMS Resident. They were nothing short of wonderful and they even gave me reports on my dog's progress twice daily. I highly recommend this clinic for serious issues with your pet.

Took my 20 year old cat in as he was very unbalanced and couldn't walk, he had recently had an ear infection that we had given him the medicine for. He was fine the day before this so I assumed the ear infection was deeper then we thought. Their recommendation was to do an MRI as they he would not let them look in his ear. An MRI is 1200 dollars which I just couldn't afford. They then suggested I out him down if I wouldn't do the MRI. At the end of our 2 hour visit the vet suggested we could put him under so they could get a good look at his inner ear for a much cheaper pruce. The next day I dropped him off and received a phone call saying they wouldn't do it and I should really do an MRI. I went and picked him up to take him for a 2nd opinion. The new vet gave me antibiotics to clear up an infection if that's what it was. That was over a month ago. He is doing great. Just wanted my money. Didn't care about animal is my feeling. Will never take another animal there. Putting him down because I couldn't afford a 1200 dollar MRI doesn't seem like great bedside manner to me. Caused me a lot of stress and heartache and made me feel I didn't care about my pet if I didn't do this.

Brought our pup here in an Addisonian Crisis during emergency hours. I felt she got the best possible care there and that she was in good hands with 24hr supervision. They are honest. They put us in a private room, took our pup away for tests and did forget we were there, but they were busy. We've brought her back since and she feels comfortable and likes being there, which is odd. They are quite expensive and lost a star as when I bring her there since her crisis they are quick to blame her ailments on her Addison's (it was flu last time). Luckily we know enough now and have since found a trustworthy vet.

My prescriptions are never ready in a timely fashion…and when they are finally ready, nobody calls to tell me. I finally convinced my vet to send the prescription to Shoppers and it’s 17% CHEAPER to get the same meds from there. Brutal service for overpriced meds? Never again.

Robert Hegedus

I called to see if this clinic could see my ill duck. The woman who answered the phone at the clinic immediately told me that ducks are not allowed as pets and that they would commandeer it if I brought her in. I explained that I do not live in the city and that my duck is not a wild duck. She proceeded to tell me that ducks are wild animals and not domestic. I told her that is infact a domestic breed. The woman’s tone of voice was very accusatory, rude and angry. She told me again, that ducks are not domestic animals and asked what breed my duck was ‘if it isn’t wild’, in a way that suggested that I was lying. I told her it is a Buff Orphington. She told me she would have to check with the vet to find out if they could see it regarding an illness. She left me on hold then returned quickly, telling me that I could bring the duck in. By then I explained to her that she should not jump to conclusions about pets that people would like to bring in; the fact that someone is willing to spend money to aid an animals health should be a testament to their concern for that animal. I explained that there are several types of domestic ducks, all of which can not fly (therefore would not survive in the wild). I was very disappointed in her reaction to the type of animal I wanted to bring in and felt that I would not seek their services if given ANY other choice. HORRIBLE FIRST IMPRESSION of this clinic!

The vets here are the best I have experienced in the city. Both my husband and I's dogs went to a different vet clinic which for almost a decade of bringing our dogs there they never noticed the heart murmur both dogs had. The first check up with this clinic and they knew right away. It blew our minds that the other clinic never found this.

We had to take our puppy here many times over the past few weeks. They were always very kind. Dr. Perkel was amazing and very detailed in explaining everything. He was also considerate of the costs and didn't push anything on us that he felt was unnecessary. We unfortunately had to put our puppy down a few days ago. The staff was very compassionate and caring. They also made us a clay paw print at no charge. I will be forever grateful for the great care they gave to our puppy Ryder.

Nadine Hiltz

The staff are very nice and the doctors were great. They called me and tried to answer all of my questions. However, I was told that after I paid my $750 deposit that I would only owe maybe $100 more when I picked her up. It ended up costing $535 more. For a one night stay with, IV, xray, I believe anti biotics, and anti vomiting medication.. it cost me over $1200. I'm extremely grateful for all they did to help my dog to feel better. I'm just shocked at the price. Especially because I was told $850 and it went over $1200.

Reg Pope

Great staff. Took their time and explained things well

Sean Donaldson

Such a disappointing experience. My 15 minute appointment took over 2 and a half hours. An intern came to the waiting room and told me there were no available examination room. So we did the consult in the waiting room. Then she took my cat to the back room and the waiting without any updates began. I never actually saw the intern interact with my pet. I never actually spoke with a vet. At one point about an hour or so in, the intern came out and asked me if I could leave my pet and pick them up at 5pm so she could have a phone conversation with her professor; I say no. Begin another half hour of waiting. At one point a receptionist looks at me and asks why I’m still there. I tell her. She calls to the back and says that the cat will be out in 5 minutes. And so begins another half hour of waiting. Over two hours later and $220 poorer, I leave. I guess this isn’t my vet after my recent move to Sasktoon. Just brutal.

Berni Wilson

Very impersonal. All they seem to care about is the money you need to spend on testing. Do not like that they examine your pet without you being present. Never mind the fact it took over 2 hours for the exam.Denying your pet of pain medication unless you spend more money on blood work. My pet had to be put down(I took her elsewhere) and 2 days later still do not have my paperwork from the visit. They were quick to collect payment though. That was about all that was prompt. They charge you extra on Sunday's which is not right as they are a teaching facility, where the students are paying to be there . Nothing but a money grab, and they aren't as caring as they make themselves to be. Would not ever go back and do not recommend!

We brought our small dog in with a laceration on his back. He wasn't in any pain, eating and acting normal but it was a Sunday and just wanted to have it cleaned and checked out to make sure there was nothing serious going on. The reception was good but once our dog was in the clinition called and said they want to put our 11 y.o. dog under sedation just to clean and explore the wound. I said I'm not comfortable with him being put under and asked why you can't trim the hair and clean it out. He said they could try but didn't know if the dog would let him. I was shocked they hadn't even tried before wanting to put a senior dog under and this all started to seem like they wanted to do as much as possible to learn on him. I said I will just pick up my dog and take him Mon to Prairie land. He then wanted to give him pain meds and antibiotics anyway which I declined as he was going to a vet the next day and he didnt even seem to understand the injury yet. No mention of what would need to actually be done once they looked other than it would be 4-500 dollars to start. I picked him up to find out it was 225 plus tax and they didn't even spray the area with some saline. Literally nothing other than look at him. Just 225 dollars to look at the dog for a minute and then go home. This is crazy. Called our vet and they said they would only sedate him if he needed stitches but there is no reason to sedate just to clean up the wound. And they only wanted 130 callout fee if done on the weekend. The whole experience left me feeling very uneasy with the level of care and nevermind the insane pricetag for literally nothing being done. Live and learn. I though a teaching hospital would be less expensive that real vets.

Gloria Fletcher

The clinic was really respectful of our feelings over the loss of our 20 year old cat. They explained everything that was needed to determine what was wrong with her, and were very compassionate with the decision that we felt was the best for her.

I had an incredible experiencing working with the WCVM Small Animal Clinic to diagnose and treat my puppy on a Sunday. Very reasonable rates and all of the staff was super sweet. Jill had such a warm and welcoming tone and everyone was beyond compassionate and professional. I could tell they were quite busy during my visit, yet the plan of action from diagnosis to treatment sent my little fur baby home in no time! Thank you WCVM Small Animal Clinic <3

This place is a joke. Reception is terrible. I didnt agree with her not releasing my pets information to me (what shots he had) so the reception said "we dont tolerate being yelled at" and hung up. Literally didnt even raise my voice, just questioned why I couldn't know what they gave my pet so he wasn't over vaccinated. Will never use this place again. And funny, being a learning institution, they gave poor poor service beware and look around! I found a vet in Martensville that is half the cost of for the exam...

Love the vet service

Great place to help your pets when they're I'll. Vet's & staff are caring.

S. Colpitts

We've had quite a bit of experience at the University clinic and what I would say is that every vet we've ever dealt with has been excellent. Very empathetic and just generally we felt like we could trust them. The reception on the other hand, leaves a lot to be desired. If the giant wait times on the phone aren't enough, we've routinely had them mess up our documentation for insurance (there was a six month long saga of hoping that even one of them would care enough to fill out all of the forms properly). What really sealed the deal for me though was that our cat got out last night (slippery bugger) and hadn't returned. I was calling to ask all area veterinarians to keep an eye out for him and the receptionist responded as unsympathetically as possible. First telling me that because they are such a "big hospital" that they had no method to share information with each other and even if she left a note at reception it could be misplaced my another staff member so I should send an email. I said I'd do that but could she also take the information and she did it as begrudgingly as humanly possible (at one point when I asked if she wanted my phone number she said Ok, I gave it to her, and she snarkily responded that that was exactly what they already had on file - that's great but how was I to know that fool?), culminating in hanging up on me before giving me the email address she wanted me to send a message to which I was then unable to locate anywhere on the main website, so I had to call back, wait three more minutes, and then have to talk to that piece of work again. Honestly, I love the vets here, but I'm not going to put up with their reception any more. I guess I'll have to find a new veterinary office, which is a shame because they have plenty of knowledgeable and experienced staff here. But to get to them, oy.

Bernice Stefanuik

Had to take my kitty there when my regular vet had surgery bookings all day. The vets and interns took very good care of him and the discharge notes emailed were very much appreciated. Wish that I lived closer or had a car as this is a animal clinic that I highly recommend!

We’ve been here twice, unfortunately, with severe issues for our dog. The first time last summer was for a surgery to repair a broken leg. This year we had eye surgery. The staff and the hospital are top notch, they are supremely intelligent, extremely skilled and wonderfully understanding in explaining all the details of the diagnosis, treatment and after care. I would recommend anyone take their animal here for care. It is surely worth the 8 hour drive from home for us.

Pat Klees

You could not ask for more professional, compassionate care for your companion animal. If your pet needs help, this is the place to bring them.

Had a VERY time sensitive emergency with my small dog. Called on the way there and they told me to call poison control and get a case number before they would do anything at the clinic. Poison control had me on hold and was going to cost an extra $65USD to tell me what I already knew. Got to the vet, called the number and extension posted on the door and was sitting on hold. Tried to go in (with mask on) and was stopped by security. Security then came OUTSIDE to tell me to put my mask on (I was waiting outside on the phone with the clinic at this point). Finally he said the extension number wasn't the one posted on the sign outside - hunt up and called back with new extention # at this point I got a response from the front desk. Informed them this was very time sensitive (inducing vomiting before what he ingested worked it's way further into his system) and still we weren't alowed into the building. Had to go through the entire check in process over the phone while sitting in the car (couldn't even stand outside so my dog could be sick outside of the vehicle). They seemed more worried about getting paid than getting my dog inside and starting to treat him! At this point I was told they would send someone out to bring him inside, triage him (he was presenting MOSTLY fine, but needed to get what was ingested out ASAP) and then they weren't sure when a vet would actually be able to look at him. No one there seemed to grasp the severity of the situation. Will never return again after that experience. The covid rules are ridiculous (other vets allow owners in with their dogs), the staff isn't helpful, the security is rude in an already VERY stressful situation and their prices are WAY too high for a teaching hospital (or any vet for that matter). In case of after hours emergency there are better options around saskatoon. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

David Jenkins

For emergency veterinary services they are very good

John Morton

Lost my cat years ago at the clinic. She had some issues that seemed to pop up overnight and I was not given any answers or a path we should continue with for diagnosis after spending an excessive amount of money on testing. As a student I had spent every penny I had trying to help the poor creature. 7 years now and I still think about that night in the emergency.

Brian Hickey

Had a tplo done on my lab when he was just under two. He is now 9 and passing away of cancer but his tplo never gave us one problem his entire life .Staff was great service was great and they exceeded my expectations .

Richard Anderson

Could not have asked for better care and support for our dog. Thank you!

Christine Torrens

My husband had called into the emergency here at three in the morning due to the fact our five month old puppy would not stop vomiting. The only reason we had chosen this place was because our vet does not have emergency hours. Needless to say, we never will again. There are a few reasons why: The receptionist was nothing short of rude and unhelpful (his name was Mo). We had accidentally called the "Large Animal Clinic" as opposed to the "Small" and we were rudely informed of this. Instead of offering to transfer us or offer the small clinic number, he simply said in a completely snotty tone, "This is the large clinic." On top of that, when we called the small vet clinic, we were met with, you guessed it, the SAME receptionist. So not only was he rude but he was simply too lazy to hear us out when we were attempting to seek some advice for our obviously sick dog. The final nail in the coffin was once we explained the situation to him, he merely said that he would call us back once he had gone to relay our situation to the others that were there. He never phoned back. All in all, extremely unprofessional, unhelpful and rude.

George Jordan (The Fat Squirrel)

Thank you guys for all you do.

Breanna Wilson

I've only had to come here a couple of times. Both for emergency visits as it was outside of our normal vet's hours. Both times we had to put one of our beloved pets to sleep. While I can't speak on much for this place, they are very good during these tough times then the hardest call comes around for owners. We were given time to say goodbye and weren't rushed. When I came back to pick up the ashes later on, we also got clay prints of their paws (and upon request, tail). They are very compassionate and made this an easier experience. I appreciate the kindness shown during these difficult times.

We have a parrot . All of his medical needs are met, with educated staff, and veterinarians. They provide us with nutritional behavioral, and guidance in socialization. Being a bird parent for the first time I am confident in providing proper care, and comfortable that I have a team of experts supporting me, & my parrots well being.♡

Best animal hospital ever..I would recommend this hospital to everyone...they are the absolute best

Charles Chansler

They have always been respectful, courteous and professional with us. They are always quick to respond

Nancy Shubeck Tafoya

Very friendly, helpful staff, & very accommodating. Doctors we're very knowledgeable, and communicated plans & treatments well. Can't say I enjoyed the visit since my cat was not well, they did make the visit as pleasant as possible! I felt the fees were well worth the quality of the care and attention my cat received. They gave me hope that my cat will get better! I thank WCVM VERY MUCH!

I have been here with my dog who had to stay for 5 nights as well as my tortoise and my turtle. All around, it has been a very good experience. When my dog had to stay for 5 nights we got multiple updates every day and a sense that the staff truly cared about her well being. I also think this is the best exotics vet in the city. I have gotten dewormer for my tortoise here and antibiotics for my turtle at very good prices. Both times the entire visit stayed under 100$, where another vet in the city (Orchard) had charged me 116$ simply to examine another one of my tortoises to tell me they would call the experts at WC. If you have a reptile/amphibian take it here. Yes it is annoying that you have to drop them off in the morning and pick up in the evening, but they are probably the best reptile vet in the city and charge the lowest prices.

My dog has axiety and they where amazong with her. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Melissa Ryon

Very nice veterinarians really took very good care of my dog when she was speeded and also she needs another surgery so I'm very informed. And the price came within the quote that they gave me and a little bit less with the taxes included

Derrick Hogan

After my dog was ran over ( no broken bones) She had an open wound on her belly. Long story short 8000 dollars later and now 2 years after the 8000 they charged me I found out what they had done to fix it did not work at all... she ended up with infection in that area and throughout her body. Another great vet in swift current has been helping her along now. So I would highly reccomend if possible shop around and don't take your pet here. Basically once they get your animal in the facility you either pay the bill or they take your pet..... this place is terrible all they want to do is practice pointless procedures and you foot the bill.

Clarence Grenier

Staff & Dr's treat our dogs like they are their own. My dogs have been treated for serious ailments here with Great results.

I was very nervous to come to this clinic as you can see some of the reviews aren’t the greatest. The veterinarians and staff have been great with my puppy. They explained everything to me and call me with updates every couple of hours.

Lexia Zufka

I felt as though they were very disorganized. I overheard them saying there was no protocols to follow when someone calls in saying they have covid. One of the vets was actually questioning the receptionist about it and went to find the email about it. Then when I was waiting to check in I could over hear the receptionists talking and one of them was using profound language. Its frustrating because you are coming in crying about an animal and it makes it really hard to trust them when they act a certain way. I then was talking to one of the vets about my cat and the receptionists were talking so loud and laughing I could barely hear him speak. He even paused and looked back at them. Its not like I got treated with disrespect but it was definitely not professional. Then, I got a quote over the phone saying the extra test would be an additional 100$ so I told them to go ahead but when I arrived there was an extra 200$ added to the bill that I was not notified about. Me and my boyfriend brought it to their concern and there was no remorse shown or compensation after we already spent 1500$ with them. Still not finding a solution for my cat. The student vet came out and admitted she had forgot to mention it which is understandable but financially we were not prepared for that. I just feel for the amount you pay, you should be getting better service. They also were calling my cat, BY MY NAME. Then they continued to get the gender and age confused every time they phoned to update me which worried me. I am appreciative for the time they took to take care of my cat but it definitely was not a good experience.

Crystal Winegarden

Friendly staff and thorough with exam of my pup. Look forward to future visits.

My dog has spent a lot of time here because of ongoing health issues, and the staff have gone above and beyond to take care off her, and help me best take care of her.

Our dog ate rat poison. As our vet clinic had no one on call on Sunday, we rushed our dog to the Small Animal Clinic. As soon as we told the receptionist what had happened, the vet immediately took him to give him medicine to make him vomit. After our dog had thrown up the poison the vet came to talk to us and assured us that he would be fine. We are very pleased with the way the clinic responded and the care our dog received. Also, they explained in detail how to look after him when we got him home. Excellent care!

Ridiculous, irresponsible. My cat’s tail injury, spent 230$ for deposit fee of emergency service, waited 3.5~4h. Finally just did a physical exam, cut my cat’s hair around the wound without palsying. No medicine, no exam report. Then refund me 38$, and told me most of the fee is from emergency service. However, we spend 4h over there just did an simple physical exam and haircut. I just wonder know what kind of emergency service is that??? So, if you want to waste your time and money, just visit this clinic. If you have a lot of time and money, just try the emergency service.

I had to bring my dog Ace here to get stitches, it was just as they were closing and had to pay the after hours rate, but really what are you gonna do! They took him in and after cleaning up his cut so they could take a better look at it, the determined he would need stitches. They explain to you in detail of the potential costs of the procedure so you dont come back and say I didnt know it was gonna be that much. They were very fast it took only a hour and a half and when I took him to his regular vet to get the bandage changed they said the vets here did a GREAT job and didnt even need to be rebandaged.

Lindsay Ogresko

I've been at the university animal hospital for the last 3 hours and $300 dollars later. After talking to 4 different people they still don't know what's wrong with our little chihuahua. Waiting forever just to be informed on whats going on. So frustrating. If you want to waste your time and money. Come here. Also didn't give us instructions on how to use the medicine.

We came here from Winnipeg as my dog needed dental surgery with a specialist due to a jaw issue. She had to get 19 teeth removed. Now she's a senior (9) Chihuahua who has a typical Chihuahua attitude. If she doesn't know you, she will fight you. So we warned te staff to muzzle her. They did and took her away to do blood work. They brought her back and she had no muzzle on. The tech said they didn't need it at all! This was so surprising! Now the next day she had the surgery and the ladies told us that even after the surgery, being groggy , confused, and scared, our dog let them cuddle her as she woke up and was such a sweet dog....WHAT? this is no where near how may dog acts around strangers. The staff was so patient and caring to my little girl! This was a big surgery and it cost under $2500! Forsure recommend this clinic! I will be telling all my friend, family and clients about this clinic if they ever need to go out of town for care!

I would not recomend this veterinarian clinic as we brought our 7 week old named andira who weighs about 386 grams. We repeadly told them that she just a cold as all the other dogs were diagnosed from corman park but they wouldnt listen and instead they recommended that we should do CT(which they had to put her under anestasia) and blood work (which how small she is, how is that possible). We disagreed but they said it was our only option and we wanted to do whatever we could for her so we end up agreeing but what kind of vet would recomment that kind of testing for a 386 grams of a puppy ? which the test end up killing her. They told us she had pneumonia. They did all that testing so they could tell us she had pneumonia ?! A cold leads to pneumonia if left untreated. we have consulted with another vet who has 40 years of experiences which told us that was really unnecessary and inappropriate for what they have done to her as they have killed her. The vet told us for anyone to bring their beloved pet to the university that they should just kill it first which was I think right. why would they do unecessary testing on your pet so they could make money ? when we took out dead puppy home to burry her, she was full of holes and we hurt with guilt as we know she has suffered because of what they did to her.

Took my Sheltie in and thought he would not be coming home. After tests and a overnight stay he's home with the spring back in his step. The staff and doctors were amazing. The coffee was a touch strong! Thanks so much!

Not Sorry Lol

Our cat was sick, I called numerous vets with very high cost $500 at a few places and was referred to the University? Then I called the heartless University Vet, Immediately I asked about payment, they said if you cant pay just euthanize him! I got mad and said oh just like that. Yes she said and I said okay thanks I said a few choice words and hung up and I started to cry. Now thanks to a FB post about vet care, cost and reviews etc we are off to a great vet! And thats gonna cost $55 not $500 and no threat of euthanization!

We had a fantastic experience taking our Great Dane here for laparoscopic spay, hernia repair, and gastropexy. The staff and students had excellent communication in regards to the procedures, answered all our questions, and called us to give updates once she was in recovery. It was extremely affordable to have the surgery performed here. It saved us $1400 from what our regular Vet quoted us. The senior student Joel demonstrated exceptional patient care with our dog and us. Would highly recommend taking your pet here, specifically for surgery.

Before booking in we decided to price check with other Vets to get our rabbit neutered. U of S came in with the best quote. We decided to give them a try based on the price quoted. When we dropped off our rabbit we were then told another price that was much higher. We questioned it and they then told us they would hold to what they quoted us over the phone. When the procedure was done the bill was significantly higher then both quotes. We had to talked to accounts payable and we were told being that the quote wasn't in writing we had to pay the bill. After reading other google reviews I would suggest that everyone gets a Quote in writing prior to dealing with U of S Vet services. Not very professional at all to deal with!

Our pup, Brick has suffered from severe skin issues for a few years now but recently has it has been really bad. We brought him into emergency one evening and the level of care that our boy received was incredible! It was worth the long night for sure and they did what they could for him that night and suggested that he be referred to Dr. Foster, the Dermatologist. Within a couple days we got a call to set up his appointment. It was a bit of a wait to get in to see Dr. Foster but again, worth the wait. Brick has now seen her twice and I can confidently say he is in the best care when seeing her. She truly does care for the animals that she is working with. Thank you Dr. Foster for all your wisdom, help and care for our sweet boy.

My cat Miller had urinary issues 3 years ago. Due to the chronic nature of the condition, he ended up having the urethrostomy surgery. Throughout our numerous visits we experienced informative and compassionate care. The surgery went impeccably, Miller didnt have any complications until a week ago; upon bringing him into the WCVM, they quickly assessed him, took samples, and came back with the diagnosis of UTI (urethrostomy surgery increases the probability of getting this infection). Again, exceptional care and fair pricing for professional services.

I'm not sure if they have the animals best interest at heart. I had a cat with a tumor on her head. Because of the location, it was recommended she recieve surgery, then radiation 5x a week for a month while being put under. She would be blinded by the radiation, or even need her eyes removed. She would lose all her sight. Then she'd remain cancer free for only up to 2 years, and there was also a 25% chance the cancer has/could spread to the rest of her body, by that time, she's be a senior cat. The estimated cost was $10,000. After all that, knowing she was a nervous cat, I knew she wouldn't come out the same mentally/emotionally. The entire process would be painful and traumatizing for her, with not that much longer life span granted. It was only painfully drawing out the inevitable. She was given 2 months to live untreated. The vet was oppossed to euthanasia oddly, which I felt was the most compassionate choice. She lived a beautful 2 more months with me at home, and then I had her euthanized when she went downhill, so she could be at rest, and pass away peacefully with no traumatizing treatments or pain, and be at home in her final days snuggled with me and not in a metal cage. I wouldn't torture my poor baby for my benefit of keeping her around for my benefit. Death is a natural process, and we need to respect when it's their time, so they can pass peacefully and with dignity.

We had to rush our dog here from Regina and they were really helpful. He was supposed to have a special surgery and they did some tests and monitored him over night. They ended up not doing the surgery and we got a refund. The staff and doctors were very pleasant. We are very thankful to have our dog still with us.

Brought our cat in for an emergency procedure in the late hours of the night of Friday May 18th through Saturday May 19th, 2018. The vet, Andrea, was knowledgeable, caring, and compassionate. We felt reassured with our cat in her care. Once we got home, we noticed a bandage wrapped around our cat's leg, not knowing whether to take it off or leave it on, I called the Small Animal Clinic. It is now 1am and I reach the receptionist. After explaining our situation, her answer was "I am not at liberty to discuss protocol" and proceeded to say I would have to wait until Mon to speak with someone. When I asked if there was anyone who could help at that moment, since Monday was quite a while away for this concern, she replied "I am unable to help you." , so I ask her where/how I could find help for our cat, she pauses and repeats a rehearsed "I am not at liberty to discuss protocol..." As I kept trying to find the right question in order to get any kind of help, she kept going back and forth with those two answers in a robotic yet scornful tone. Even when I asked if there was an emergency line or anyone I could contact to help out with post-operation questions, she used the "not at liberty to discuss protocol" line... Is there really no better system for receiving a simple answer concerning your pet's health post-op after clinic hours? Wish this person the best, because there was absolutely no love or care in her work ethic. This resulted in waking up early the next morning to our cat trying to remove his bandage off his very swollen paw and having to bring him in again.

Rory Hicks

The receptionists, techs and vet were all amazing. Kind, responsive and i know they took great care of my cat. The vet was so friendly and so clear and thorough with the information he gave me. Its never a good situation when you have to take your pet to the vets but these guys made it easy.
