I chose to try Frontier Veterinary Service after seeing several of my friends on Facebook talking about how amazing they are. I had used other vets in Saskatoon of course, the one being horribly expensive and the other not so friendly and also very expensive. I have two dogs, so it was getting to the point I couldn't afford to own them anymore if I was going to take decent care of them. Then I went into Frontier. They had thier dental extractions, cleaning, etc.. and it was considerably less then the other vets quotes in town. The staff are so friendly and Dr. Cook, well she is a vet with a big ole' heart for animals. Thank-You Frontier for the best of care in my pups and for making owning a pet affordable again.
So I just took my cat troubles there yesterday and he got fixed and he got all his shots but the staff and everybody else is very friendly and very understanding even though what's going on and everything I understand there has to be precautions taken but they were still pretty great I'm definitely going to be taking him back there I would highly recommend this place I really was and just today they phone to see how he's doing and that means a lot to me because he's my little boy and he's my world great place ❤️❤️❤️
The staff at frontier have always been good to my fur babies. I just got my 10 month old kitten and I am very happy with the care they gave her. They even called to see how she is doing and to let me know I can call them any time if I'm worried about anything.
Our primary vet that our family goes to for care of our fur family members
Very grateful, this clinic helped me with my elder cats surgery.
They are so kind and take the time to answer all questions with care. Very gentle and not cash grabbers. They make you feel welcome and your pet will get the beat care. Also have updated email or text for appointments and recipients.
We came in because we noticed a lump in our dog. I was very worried, so I called as it was the only place still open after 6. Couldn't have had a better experience! Dr. Kate was amazing and really did care about our dog. I am definitely switching vets, keep up the amazing work :)
Staff is very friendly. They helped guide me in end-of-life procedures for my senior dog and have always been really great when I needed to bring one of my dogs in. I highly recommend them.
Awesome clinic. I had booked my cats in for check ups and had a sick cat earlier than our appointment and they had me rush him right in! So nice on the phone and in person!
Took all 3 of our cats here to get neutered and get all their check ups, vaccines, microchips and etc. Although their prices did go up over the years we have continued to come here and always received great care. Staff are super caring and friendly and obviously love what they're doing because they go the extra mile to make your pet feel comfortable- well as comfortable as they can be during a vet visit... :)
Vet and staff were quick competent and gentle with our animals. They made suggestions with our animals needs and our wallets in mind without trying to upsell or suggest unneeded services.
The Vet and staff at Frontier are wonderful. Very compassionate in regards to your individual needs. Thank you
VCA was not our normal vet clinic, but when our dog got bit on a Sunday, VCA was the only place open (besides the ridiculously over priced u of s vet clinic). Went to VCA and automatically knew that we were going to change our clinic. The staff was amazing, the price is not ridiculous, the hours they are open is later than any clinic in the city and the app they have to stay on top of your pets needs is amazing. Dr. Keen is our main doctor but have been to see multiple doctors there and they have all be friendly, knowledgeable and most importantly they treat our dogs like they are their own. When our dog went in for stitches, they texted us pictures and kept us updated to how she was doing. I highly recommend switching to this clinic.
Easily the best Vet Clinic in town. the entire staff, including the amazing Vet Doctors, were nothing but awesome to deal with. I took our two cats to them, nervous that something bad was wrong with them. They instantly showed love towards the cats and upon picking them up, thoroughly broke down what was accomplished. Not only are the cats feeling amazing now, but I have gained 100% trust & confidence in this awesome place. Will recommend. A+++
Our favourite veterinarians! Worth every penny! Both of our dogs have been going to frontier for 3 years. They even sent photos when our dog woke up from surgery. The entire staff is so kind and considerate and you can truly tell they love animals and their careers!
The staff here is amazing. The response time is great and I'm glad I found a vet my fur babies feel comfortable at.
Have had no problems when taking my dogs there. Just took my cat there to be put down. Staff were nice but the price was ridiculous. I had another cat put down about three years ago at a different place and the price was one quarter the cost here.
Highly Recommend this veterinary clinic! Super friendly staff and doctors. We came in for our first appointment after adopting a puppy. Later that day we discovered she had a UTI and we were able to come back the same day to get her urine tested and pickup medication without cost (minus cost of medication of course). Second visit we were able to pick up worm medication without an issue. Reception on the phone was really friendly as well
Great people! Quick service and kind. Dealt with me quick. No waiting.
I called just to get confirmation of my dog's vaccination. They did not regard my call as a nuisance, and had the information emailed to me within 5 minutes. Impressed!
My husband brought my perfectly healthy loving 1 yr old puppy into this clinic and had her put down for rough playing with my step son. He had on video the incident, the dog jumped off the couch and grabbed him by his sweater sleeve with her TAIL WAGGING! Shes was a big pup. A mastiff. He brought her into the clinic and told the vet that she is aggressive and based on the video they put her down. My family is heartbroken. 3 kids and myself have to now live without our youngest family member because a vet couldn't make the suggestion that death wasnt the answer. Maybe rehome her instead? Vets are supposed to save animals lives not take them for no good reason. This vet isnt interested in saving lives. I'm disgusted
Very poor vet company. They couldn't provide good treatment for my cat diagnosed with crystals. They prescribed antibiotics and advised to change diet to urinary, so index etc what I did. And today I noticed the same thing.. blood in Urine. When I called them. They asked me to bring my cat to make another diagnosis. Also added I have to pay for that. As I understood they just wanna earn more money. Doesn't care for returning customers. Will not recommend & avoid this place. Front desk acted like a b. No customer service
They are always so happy to see the animals, and make each experience pleasent, very helpful nutritional signs on the walls, this is my go to vet office
Staff at this vet clinic are very friendly, helpful, and clearly have a deep love of animal companions. They have been supportive when I have made calls to the front desk regarding my animals health and wellness, and they have always given me confidence in the care of my cat. They are upfront about the costs of tests, examinations, and services and work with pet parents about what care plan works best and discuss the potential costs openly so decisions can be made with informed consent. Great place! Would definitively recommend.
Took my dog in here to get an emergency checkup a few days ago. Had a great experience. They looked at my dog, gave her a treat, figured out what was wrong with her, sent me home with some meds and not even 2 days later she's nearly fully recovered. Very satisfied.
I went to see Dr. Ruth Sims because my dog had an ear infection. She did an external exam (which the receptionist wouldn't take, " no, I don't want one ", from me at all ). I was under the impression that I definitely needed one, or the dog wasn't going to be seen ( my first time, i didn't know better ). It was upsetting to me that I was told that I also had to have the external exam, money spent that was not necessary! My funds are very limited but I didn't want to see my dog in pain anymore. I was sent home with a print out of the exam as well as medication for her ear. What pissed me off is the external exam ($71.50, my money wasted ) stated that her eyes were bright and clear ( not true, she did NOT have bright clear eyes, she had cataracts )! One thing that I do know, is that, I could see that she had cataracts. I called and asked if they gave an okay on the eyes in error of one of the other 'external' body parts examined, perhaps something that needs attention, you know, like the things I can't see, heart, gastrointestinal, etc ). The reply was, "we will call you back". I waited 2 days and received no call. I called again, asking for Dr. Ruth Sims to please call me. I have never received a call from anyone. I do not know how that exam was necessary for the problem that I took my dog in for. I need every penny I have, but I also try to do what's best for my dog. Take the money and run! It is not right that we have to pay for a service, that we do not get. ???? I will not return here. I now go to a happier vet on the East side.
My dog had a tick drop off him in the semi.... Wasn't sure what to do, so took him here. The lady that helped me was super nice! Checked the bite free of charge and showed me what to look for and expect now that the tick's gone. Put my mind at ease so we can keep trucking... Definitely recommend this place!
We love our pets like family and have had a difficult time finding a vet who seems to be genuine. We have been to this clinic on several different occasions and met with different doctors and each has been knowledgeable and kind. I have not felt like any of the treatments needed have been over priced, and more importantly it feels like the vets work with you to recommend options that would work best for your pet. Also - It seems like they are well staffed as I have never had to wait for an appointment, when it is urgent they have gotten me in same day on every occurrence.
Highly recommended brining your pets here. The whole staff was fantastic from start to finish. They answered all my questions, recommended vaccinations I didn't think of but were necessary and were very patient.
The veterinarians and techs have taken great care of both of our dogs since they were puppies. They have lots of flexible appointment times during their regular operating hours. They’re very caring with our pets and very friendly with us. We’re very grateful that they’re still open and we appreciate the extra measures they’re taking to keep everyone safe and healthy right now. The new renos also look great!
They are always amazing there. I take my two cats there for any vet need. They're super kind, polite and also respectful to you and your animals. I've never had one bad experience here. Plus they just renovated so it feels brand new and super clean!
Great service, they got my Dog in quickly and assessed him fast. They also got back to me very quick with a couple of options on what to do with him. They walked me through what happened and had very good prices on medication for him.
Fantastic service! We had to take our newly adopted kitty there for the first time today and because of the pandemic, they came out to our car to get her and brought her inside. They sent pictures during the process, even though she was only in for maybe 15 minutes, which was nice when we had no idea what was happening inside! My daughter was especially thrilled. Thanks so much for going that extra mile ❤
I honestly love this clinic. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and helpful. I know my furbay is in good hands at all times.
I was bringing my dog here since 2015, the first time we ever had an emergency was monday night. I called and the receptionist asked " is this an emergency or can you hold" I said "emergency"- she put me on hold anyways. It took me just about 9 minutes to get there - while still on hold. To which the receptionist turned me away because I didn't have an appointment. My dog swallowed a huge bone, I brought him to the university to which they found that he needed surgery and that it was pretty serious. They have no problem taking your money for regular appointments but as soon as it's an emergency its an inconvenience for them. So sad, I will never bring my dog here again. If they can't care for him when he desperately needed it I will not be trusting them with his health EVER again. Might I add that this happened shortly after 5pm monday night and she told me that I needed to book an appointment preferably for thursday night.
Very attentive and kind. They handeled our kitten with care. Visit was quick, little wait time and to the point.
Great staff here! It is evident that they love their jobs and all animals. My pup loves going here.
Quite disappointed in this clinic. I have left them after many years with the feeling that running up your vet bill to the maximum they sense will fit you, not your pets needs. I have had two events now that finally made me go somewhere else and now I realize I have wasted years with them. In short details 1) 1st bad experience was partially my fault. Years ago, I bought a "puppy package" that included all required shots and checks through (I believe) the first year of a new pup. I received the 1st shots. Then I started to wonder about the next set, called them and they told me I was overdue, but bring him in anyway. So I did, and without prior warning they gave me a bill, which I reminded them I paid for a puppy package. They said that because I was late, they started all over again (I wasn't aware of that before the appointment). I was accepting that it was equally my fault for being late, but I was expecting an email or phone call reminding me the shots were due. It wasn't till I called them did I know, and I didn't know I had to start all over again, and pay. After much debate, they did refund the cost of the puppy package. I paid for the actual shots given, not the all inclusive package they sold me. I agree I should have been more on top of the shot schedule, but I thought they would let me know since I got emails all the time from them on other things. 2) My other dog had developed a lymphoma. I had them do a biopsy and it was just fatty tissue, nothing to be concerned with. They advised the cost for removal would have been in the thousands, but since it wasn't affecting quality of life, they advised to simply monitor. Accurate, no issues with that. This wasn't an issue, just mentioning this now since it comes up later. Fast forward a few more years and that same dog began acting strange, avoiding everyone, hiding, crying at night, not eating anything except tiny amounts of water (broth added to trick him to drink it) and tiny morsels of wet food. I suspected a tooth maybe as he had developed bad breath, and was not eating. I decided to take him into Frontier. They advised I run a battery of tests and gave me a pre-determined cost of those tests, and it was everything they could think of, list was extensive. Estimate for the diagnosis only was going to run $940.00. I was sticker shocked at this because there was no treatment involved, just diagnosis. I honestly just didn't trust them because it just seemed wrong (keeping in mind the puppy package fiasco and my suspicions of running bills up). I was certain the bad breath and avoiding of food was pretty obvious clues. I balked at the diagnosis bill and instead, they did a basic diagnosis and advised it was likely a virus and prescribed him antibiotics for a week. They did not feel it was a tooth related problem. After no change for two more weeks, I took him to a different clinic for a 2nd opinion, willing to do anything to help him at that point, money was no object, but I just didn't trust Frontier any longer. The new clinic advised he had to have 5 teeth extracted. They also advised they could remove that lump while doing the teeth extractions for an additional $75.00!! My total bill at the new clinic was $935, including diagnosis, dental surgery, lymphoma removal meds...all in, (Original quote $1100, they charged less than the quote). My suspicions about Frontier went from distrust to absolute disgust. My dog is 100% today, back to his old happy social self. I don't know what to make of the stark differences between the two clinics, but I am left with an impression that they are more interested in the financial side of pet care. They didn't even speculate correctly on what was wrong with my dog. The whole situation really disappointed me, and I have to say I have no reason to ever step foot back in there again as I finally found a clinic I can trust. They act very professional, so it's quite deceiving when you look at the end results of all of this. I am more mad at myself in the end for even bothering with them.
Great experience with the staff, they treated my dog so well!
Over the last 2-3 years I have been taking my fur-babies to this clinic. Currently, I have 2 cats. The veterinarians and technicians who I have had the pleasure meeting are caring, knowledgeable, and mindful of care expenses. My cats receive all of their routine and emergency care at this clinic. Furthermore, in a crisis I spoke with a tech on the phone who was very calm and caring, offering sound advice. I am very happy with the team at Frontier Animal Hospital.
Service and care have been consistently excellent at this hospital. The staff are caring, professional. I have confidence that our pets will be well in thier care. I highly recommend them.
This vet clinic is top notch. Our pets were cared for wonderfully. They healed wonderfully and the level of care was awesome. I was given clear pre-op instruction and even was called the next day to see how my dog was healing. I really hope they keep there prices low, this is one of the main reasons I go to the clinic with my pets. I know most other people who go to the clinic also started going because of the low prices and high level of care. I would hate to switch clinics. Additionally, I wish they sold high quality pet food (they only sell the vet stuff) and/or supplements, too!
I read alot of the reviews about frontier and i got very nervous there were alot of scary and bad reviews about spaying and neutering. I had my dog spayed there and they were amazing! They were very friendly and it was a very clean and professional office. I think these bad reviews were of people who probably didn't understand their part after the surgery. Make sure your dog doesn't lick or jump on furniture or play and run around and your dog will be fine! They did nothing wrong there. They were amazing i would definitely recommend.
They graciously gave their services as a neutral surrender location for homeless kittens. They were also very clean, and pleasant and helpful, for foster pickup.
The staff at VCA Frontier is some of the friendliest people I have ever met. They care about every animal that comes into their clinic. Some might say that the prices are on the higher side but it is because they have higher quality care and better services to assist your every need. Besides having a new expanded clinic, they offer ultrasounds and are now opening up to emergency. I don't know about other pet owners but I avoid the university emergency clinic like the plague. The staff has always been friendly and I have never had a bad experience. They clearly are not in it for the paycheques as they care about every pet that comes in. 10/10 would recommend to family and friends.
Great service! I recommend the cat farm neuter program $90 x male cat $110 x female ???? cat!
I took my two dogs in today to have their shots and check up. The experience I had with the Vet we saw Dr. Joanna Rybicka was very off-putting. When explaining things to me she used medical terms that I did not understand as I did not go to school to be a vet. When asked to explain she seemed annoyed. I have used this clinic for a while and I honestly don’t think we will be back. This woman needs to learn how to interact with owners and not only the animals.
I googled and chose this clinic for my puppy to do the regular check and have shots, the first time I went there is because my new puppy kept biting his back legs and tail,I have no dog raising experience and think he needs to see a doctor, they gave my puppy an examination and a demormer pill and charged me $129. then I made an appointment 2 weeks later to have a vaccine shot, this time they also charge me $82 for another examination without letting me know in advance. they gave an excuse said 16 days is over 2 weeks,it's their policy to do the examination before vaccine shot, but they never suggested me to have the vaccine shot 2 dyas earlier while it can.I was charged for $164 winthin 16 days for a healthy puppy for mere examination. I had thought it's the shots that cost me the money, but I found it's the unnecessaryexamination. will not go there anymore.
Loved it, in and out with no fuss from me or my cats. The girls were great there explaining everything I needed to know about what needs to happen next! Everyone was extremely friendly from start to finish.
A sad day in my life. Had to let go of my best friend of 14yrs. They were respectful and caring. Thank you
Had to find specialty dog food - after much phoning around, found they had it. Very courteous service, offered to order more - very impressed.
We were visiting from Calgary and our dog started vomiting and wretching over 12 hours. Our son recommended taking her to Frontier. The care and service they gave us was top notch. Thanks to Steven and his staff who cared for Ava Nov 18th. You guys are the best! Would definately recommend this clinic. Greg and Heather Burgess And Ava
They are so friendly and helpful. Answered all my questions and concerns promptly. My cat Suzie's spaying went great!!!
Great pet care and usually reasonable prices
I called last minute to get my pup in for some tummy issues. The receptionist was amazing. So caring. So understanding. Shared similar stories about her pets. The Vet who saw my pup was good, too. We popped in and out pretty quick but she was on time and great with explanation.
Horrible experience.. They put our dog on the wrong meds (Dr Weber).. We had to use frontier because our regular vet was closed on the weekend.. our dog has allergies and he broke a blood vessel in his ear from shaking his head (hematoma). They put a tube in is ear to help the drainage which was counterproductive instead of draining it properly and putting him on the right meds it created a face infection.. Witch doctor Kean prescribe more meds. Finally after calling our regular vet and figure out the right medication for our dog. This is after our third visit and me figure it out what’s the right medication for Our dog allergies Dr Olver give us our third prescription. What would’ve cost A couple hundred dollars end up cost1000$. We will never return and never recommend this clinic. Three different Doctors none of them educated enough to help control is allergies.
Very caring and prompt service. Staff all a 10. Very clean and I will definitely call them my Veterinarian.
Amazing staff, who will make you, and your pets, feel comfortable and cared for. I will always trust Dr. Cook, and her carefully-chosen staff, for my pet's medical requirements for years to come!
The vets here are very friendly and patient with my dog Ace, he is very excitable and when they need him to be still they seem to know exactly how to do it! I also had a emergency were my dog had cut himself on something along my fence, it was 8:30 and I had to take him to the university(see review) vet college to get stitches. Because I was a client here when it was time to change the bandage it was free, it would have cost another 130 to change if I wasnt a returning client. I will only be taking my dog here from now on, hopefully not to often vets and animal medication are still expensive.(but the vets deserve every penny, not so much the pharma)
Front desk was incredible, very friendly. What I didn't like was the feeling I received after stating that my pair of dogs were a breeding pair. Or the question about are you fixing the mom after her first litter seemed like a push rather than a question. So I probably will only use them for quick things such as vaccines, or deworming as a time saver rather than a full diagnostic veterinarian. I don't want to feel like my hired professional is condescending or judgmental towards me. I put a lot of thought and money towards my breeding program. I'm not going into anything blind. I want information, not opinions. After all, it's my debit card that is taking a beating.
Got us in fast when our dog was in distress and the service was wonderful - always will be grateful. But when Frontier first opened it was supposed to be the economical option... not sure that is true anymore. Access is also often difficult during high traffic times
I highly recommend VCA canada frontier animal hospital. They are so helpful in so many ways. Everyone is so kind and welcoming. Although we had to let our little guy go they did everything they possibly could to make our cat and us feel comfortable. They are all so sweet and kind throughout every step of the process and explain everything so you can understand it. I will never go anywhere else for the care of my furry family members . They are amazing! Thank you so much for you great work !
Would recommend this place only with extreme reservations. If you have a vet there that you trust and works well with you and your pet - awesome. Just make sure you specifically ask for that vet each time you book. They seem to like to switch up vets frequently and can have 6 or 7 vets working at any given time. I realize new vets need to start somewhere but it is frustrating to be paying the same high price for someone inexperienced to be looking at my sick pet. The other thing that really bothered me about this office is that there always is another staff member (sometimes even two!!) standing in the exam room along with myself and the doctor. It just puts more added stress on my pets (especially my cat) who is already terrified. I have since been to another vet office that does not do this, and visits go way smoother. I have also noticed that prices are on par with other vets in the city so why not go elsewhere if the experience is way better?
They tried their hardest to save my cat, Ernie. A few weeks after he passed the vets sent me a signed card and a laminated fridge magnet with his paw print on the paper inside. It was sweet of them to do that for me.
They will mislead you into getting tests you do not need done, blood tests especially and also anti nausea medicine, and stuff that's not very safe for dogs either to boot.. been swindled a couple times already and they will recommend science or royal canin which are very low quality foods but they recieve a commission every bag they sell so ????. When you buy food, grain should NEVER be the first ingredient. Any vet that recommends this is garbage, there should be almost no grain in your pets food so go with Acana, taste of the wild, orijen things like this.
We have seen two of the vets here and in both cases we could not ask for a better experience. Dr.Norleen's diligence and close eye to detail saved our little yorkie's life twice while on the surgical table. We had both our dogs in for surgical procedures and they both came home feeling better if a little groggy. We are so grateful to the staff and especially Dr. Norleen for the outstanding work they did for our boys. An added pleasant surprise was the low cost of the treatments relative to anywhere else in Saskatoon that I have found. We will not hesitate to return in the future. A very heart felt thank you to all who helped our boys that day!
Used to go here but was last check up was extremely useless and a waste, vet and tech did not show any care at all and did not catch the ear infection my dog had. Was recently bought out and prices have increased, went for a dental check up because they had cleaned my dogs teeth and 2015 and service was great, this time they spent about 1 minute glancing at my dog's teeth and then proceeded to make a quote which was far more than what I paid in 2015, which is surprising because in 2015 my dog had a major cleaning and 13 extractions. Now they are making me pay more for no extractions and a minor cleaning.. went to Martensville veterinary hospital and they THOROUGHLY looked over my dog's teeth, showed that they cared about my dog, answered all my questions, and gave me a great package and price. Very disappointed in Frontier Vet (now bought by VCA).
Very friendly staff! They were very good to my cat when we went in for a checkup and some vaccinations. Their prices didn't break the bank, and I will be using their services again :)
First time here and we are very impressed. Had Dr. T. Keen. Really liked her. Think we will be returning for their services. Recommend them.
Always love taking my cat Muddles here! Had a great experience today getting a check up/updating vaccines - with it being contactless they were sure to send me adorable photos and keep me throughly updated throughout the visit. The staff here is always super friendly and understanding, would recommend to anyone.
