Really awesome treatment of my cats, I felt comfortable with both vets I saw. Only complaint is when I brought in my new cat, the first vet figured worms so she told me to just walk in the next day to get my first cat weighed. Weigh in would be free, just pay for the meds. Well I walked in the next day and the second vet ended up coming in and doing a whole check up without even asking me and my fiance had to pay $120 for the "appointment". I was pretty angry but I thought I'll just let it go. The new cat is getting neutered this week and if it goes well I will change my review. Edit: The surgery was easy and went awesome, and they explained all of the charges and also the optional charges for the neuter and shots. Very impressed with this place, the cost was super reasonable and I'll probably end up taking my cats to this clinic the rest of the time I'm living here!

All the staff are compassionate with our 13 year old Siberian Husky, and with us as we manage her mobility challenges. They continue to provide valuable care for our dog's arthritis and hip dysplasia. I'm glad we happened upon them and I would recommend their services. Covid-19 precautions seem to be adequate.

I go here to buy urinary cat food for my cat who gets urinary blockages. They always have a case of the wet cat food available, but it's in high demand so I'm usually not able to get 2 cases in one visit. The ladies at the desk are friendly, and the resident cats are so cuddly and pleasant to be around!

Dr Griebel is excellent. I felt she was very patient, not rushed, very thorough, compassionate and caring. She made sure to explain everything she was doing or going to do. Made my pets, especially my scardie cat to be calm and reassured by her gentle handling of him. The office staff is very friendly and kind as well. I liked that they called a few days later to find out how my pet was doing. I wish I could be able to give the clinic a 5 star instead of a 4 but to be honest I did not feel as comfortable with Dr. Nelson. I felt he was rushed even though I didn't see any other patients waiting. Didn't think he was thorough or maybe thought he wasn't since he was doing it so quickly not explaining much. Felt my pets weren't very comfortable by his handling. But please don't give up on this clinic, maybe just a bad day with him. I just make sure when I take my pets, all three, to go with Dr Griebel since we felt more comfortable with her.

The staff complained about my dogs shedding, it sort of seemed juvenile although I don't think I was supposed to hear it. The vet also repeatedly referred to my female dog as a "he". The care was fine but I didn't appreciate the attitudes.

Well, I brought my new kitten in for her first exam, and as we were about to be sent out the door I said, "Hey do you mind looking at her ears, they seem quite dirty, I'm concerned she could have ear mites?" And low and behold she needed treatment for ear mites. Duh, is an ear assessment not part of a general (especially first time) check up?! It made me feel uncomfortable with this vet's competence.

I've been taking my cats to Dr Nelson since 2006 and have always been delighted. He takes the time to let my cats get used to him and is always gentle. He takes all kinds of time to discuss issues with me. He has never "pushed" special tests or treatments and, in fact, seems reluctant if he doesn't think they need them. On the few occasions I've had to bring my cats to other vets at the clinic I have been more than satisfied. This is, by far, the best clinic I've ever gone to.

Please don't go here! Brought my dog in here today, because it was the only place I could find that was open. Called ahead and said we were coming in because I thought we had an impacted anal gland and my dog seemed to be very uncomfortable. First of all, they took her into the back room and I wasn't allowed to be with her (with our regular vet, everything is done in front of you! The good, bad and ugly! Total transparency!) They came out about five minutes earlier. The girl told me that it wasn't an impacted anal gland, that her bum had just been blocked by some dried -----. They shaved her very close to the skin, and left a very red-looking rash. So fine. I would be ok with them doing what they thought was necessary. But then I get charged for an anal gland expression, plus 'five minutes of shaving'. There is no cream or after care instructions provided. So disgusted and disapointed with this place. Out to make a quick buck with no compassion for animals or their owners. Why are you even still in business?! Again. Please do not support them - find someone who truly cares for you and your pet!

I saw Dr Nelson for a general wellness and vaccine booster and will not be going again. He did not seem up to date on current treatment, and advised for therapies that do not have evidence supporting them. He also argued for a treatment which is banned in many countries, and denied the negative side effects, which I know to be true. I’m well informed, but this veterinarian dismissed my comments. On top of that, my dog was very uncomfortable with his handling technique, which is unusual for him. And at one point an admin staff pushed my dog to move forward - admittedly my dog was planting his feet, but I never push my dog and she did not ask for permission to do so.

2 weeks ago we had the difficult decision to put down our 14 year old dog. It was a very hard and emotional time for us. Doctor Griebel was an excellent example of a vet that was professional but compassionate. She even sent us a card in the mail with her heartfelt condolences. They even included in the card, paw prints as a special keepsake. I so appreciate the care that was given to our puppy and our family at this clinic.

I used to go to this clinic with my old dog. I was never really happy with the male vet. he seemed very rushed and it didn't feel like he really gave my sick puppy the attention and care he required. I'd give this clinic .5 of a star for his performance. However, the female vet is fantastic. She is loving and sweet and recommends the best course of treatment and what is possible in my current income bracket. I highly recommend her over any other vet in the city! She's the best! 5 stars for that awesome vet!

I've taken my dog and cats to Dr Nelson for 7 years. Dr Nelson and his staff have been absolutely wonderful to deal with and I would not go anywhere else. I highly recommend Lawson Heights Animal Hospital.
