We recently had to make a decision to do emergency surgery on our pup Frankie and these gals stayed late and kept us updated throughout the entire process until it was time to pick him up! They were very helpful in explaining all his aftercare instructions etc. I will not take my dog(s) to anyone else but North River. ????

Dr. Murray and staff regularly take care of our mischievous Siberian Husky. They take the time to make him feel safe in their hands when we have to take him in for whatever adventure he got into that landed him a visit (whether it’s a regular check up, a swallowed sock, a fight with a rose bush, you name it he’s done it) they tailor his visit to his needs. My dogs, Nikko and Rizer agree. She is warm and compassionate. My dogs and I are very in tune to the"vibe" around us, relaxed, stressed, hostile, or chaotic. My pet was immediately welcomed and in the exam room was offered a basket of toys and treats to keep her happy during her visit! She loved it! This is the only Veterinary Hospital I trust. Very professional courteous staffing. They got my girl in right away. Dr Darling took good care explaining what was going on, knowledge about their care credit program, and what my options were with my 2 year old cat Pepper. Tracey and Leta took very good care of getting her to perk back up and eating the day after her surgery. I know it wasn't a easy task with how fussy and picky of a eater my girl is. Makenna was on top of keeping me posted along with a few other staff members whom I can't remember their names. They are just extremely professional and very good with your pets needs. I'd definitely recommend them. I am forever greatful that they took good care of my fur baby when she needed help. They saved her life.

Absolutely amazing place that has been super respectful and caring for my animals since day 1. I had first brought in my hamster Piper who was suffering from cancerous tumors all over her body to be put down, my vet was kind enough to even grab Piper and sit with her on the floor in order to calm her down before her final moments. That alone made me realize how amazingly loving these people were compared to the other veterinary hospital I went to a few months ago, but it didn't stop there. When Piper had passed shortly after Butters (my Syrian) started to get skin cancer, we tried to give her medicine to help cure it in case it was an infection...it wasn't. But during both visits, her first and her last, they were loving towards her, gentle and soft spoken when speaking to her as to not upset her (as she was visibly upset by being in a new area) and all around great people. Finally I have a dog now, when bringing him in they were gentle with him, lots of pets and hugs for the tiny rascal and ready to answer any questions we had in an intelligent, caring, and well educated response. For sure I plan on being a permanent customer here with how amazing they have been.

We rushed to this vet and sadly, as I expected, it was something my little girl couldn't recover from. They gave her something to ease the pain and I said goodbye. This is one of the best vets I've taken my pets to. I have a german shepard that can be pretty intimidating and the staff there knows how to make her feel comfortable so she isn't freaking out the whole time. I also have a husky that require a bit of care and everytime he goes in to see Dr. Barnes I know he is going to be well taken care of. The facilities are very clean and both the doctors and all the vet assistants are amazing! Keep up all the great work NRAH!

Pup and I went here the other day as first timers. I was a little nervous because I had gone to the same vet for the past 9 years and decided to try to find one closer to home. I am completely overwhelmed with happiness! Everyone at the desk was polite and accommodating. When our dog was vocial about his excitement they allowed us to wait in the exam room. I think that was my favorite part. Their table had a mat to make it easier/comfy for pets. They also had a basket of treats and toys for pets to play too. This place showed they truly do care!!

They were caring and quick with the visit. The vet thinks my cat might have allergic skin and ear mites and have her a rabies vaccine and drops for ears. She also got a steroid shot for the pain she’s experiencing which will likely help her from meowing like she’s in agony. She also is received an antibiotic shot. She’s gotten better. She’s already cut down on the self scratching. None of my tables at home are loaded with hair that’s shes scratched off her body. Her neck has been healing up since she no longer itches there. She’s gotten back to her normal, playful self.

Took in a dog and a cat for annual shots and exams. We found this to be a well run practice with excellent Covid-19 receiving and handling procedures. Staff seems very friendly and knowledgeable and the Doc was super nice and very patient in her explanations. Meatball and I had the best experience here. A comfy waiting room with toys to play with and everyone working there was so kind. Dr. Darling was incredibly sweet and shows that she really cares about all of the animals she sees. I was nervous to take him for his first check up, but now I know I’ll be going there for all his future appointments. Also, I don’t have a lot of experience with it yet, but they have an app to keep track of his appointments and, if he needs it, medications. I’m very impressed with how technically savvy this business is.

Suggest you create a training program for owners for general pet care: healthcare, training, food, first aid, legalities etc. with book references, boarding references, clubs etc. I don't believe anyone has done this yet so it should be a big money maker. Also, figure out how to change the Sheriffs Animal Control facility in to a no kill animal rescue center. Write a new (or update) a first aid book like "The Dog Care Book" by Gerstenfeld which is excellent, but decades old. Remember- the smartest most capable people with the biggest shoulders and biggest hearts must carry most of the weight if we want to ensure our furry friends always have wonderful lives. I absolutely love these guys! Dr Barnes is great with my 3 kitties and the rest of the staff are equally amazing! I recently had to take my Zoe girl in for a teeth cleaning and while they were in there they found a few teeth that needed to be extracted. This was my first time having to leave my cat at the vet for a procedure so I was very nervous and was crying like a baby. The staff comforted me and assured me that my baby girl would be just fine. They called me and let me know what was going on before doing the extractions to make sure it was ok to proceed and made sure to explain her aftercare to me thoroughly. The next day I had some difficulty getting her to take her medicine and ended up wasting one of her pills. The girls at the office told me that if I couldn't get her to take them I could bring her up and they would be more than happy to help me out at no additional charge. Fortunately, I was able to catch her and trick her into taking the pills, so I didn't need to take her back but the staff there were more than happy to replace the medication that had been wasted in my previous attempt. My wife and I brought our 16+ year old Siamese Seal Tip Feline in for his annual checkup. Unfortunately we did not have his sister this year. Serene Sky made the journey along the rainbow bridge early in October. Dr.Darling and all of the techs who worked with Stormy Gray did their usual above and beyond work. Storm can and was harder to handle than his sister and yet Dr. Darling and Staff worked with Storm to make sure he had a thorough exam including blood panel work. We have been going to North River for over 6 years and have always had positive and compassionate work and advice from Dr. Darling, Dr. Barnes and all techs and Staff. Wish we could still bring Serene,however, this is our go to place for any routine or unexpected issues with Storm. I would rate 10 stars on a 5 star post if I could. Once again, we had to contact North River Animal Hospital with an emergency for our 15+ year old Siamese Cat, Serene Sky. Although, the clinic was overloaded with emergency’s and the regularly scheduled visits, we were given an appointment time and the best of care was given to Serene Sky when we arrived and throughout the exam and testing for Serene. Vet tech, Leta, Dr. Darling and all of the personal we worked with and saw coming and going to bring in animals into the clinic, worked through an extremely busy Tuesday morning and likely some if not all staff worked through their breaks and lunch hour as they often do if the unexpected emergencies fill the schedule to overflowing. I was talking with my brother and mentioned that we had to bring in a baby deer to the only vet office open on Sunday in the area and we were not happy with how they treated us and the baby deer which costs us over $300 and had to be euthanized a day later. The good news for us, however, was that we were also recommended to North River Animal Hospital from a wildlife expert in the area and we have been very satisfied with North River Animal Hospital since. For my wife and I, this is the only clinic in town that we would bring in the two best Siamese and the two finest cats we have had the privilege of being parents to. Feb 19, 2020 Dr. Donna Barnes and Technician Tracey were great with helping us with Serene Sky. It was nice to meet Dr. Barnes, heard great words about her work and we are very happy with Dr. Muray Darling, Tracey, Karen and all of the Techs and Staff who have assisted Joanna and I throughout the last 4 years. Our Gatos, (Cats) are older now, 14 1/2, so we come in with more frequent and sometimes urgent problems. Dr. Darling and Staff were also great with out Boy Cat, Stormy Gray, who had a cancerous legion operated and removed from the side of his face with no problems. Doctors and staff are excellent, highly recommenced. The visit was very timely (we did not wait long) to see a vet assistant and then our vet doctor. Questions were answered and suggestions and feedback were discussed between my wife, our doctor and myself. I was very satisfied with our visit and thank the staff at North River Animal Hospital. We took our dog here one Wednesday for what we thought was a bladder infection. Dr barnes was afraid it was pyrometra and tested for it, including lab tests, ultrasounds and urine tests just to be sure. Well she was sure that wasn't it and sent us home with antibiotics. Well 3 days later we called because our dog was getting worse, we were told to take her down to Clinton township to have her looked at. Well after another ultrasound and blood work it came back pyrometra and emergency surgery had to be done that day to save her life. We called this office back to see if they could do the surgery since they had quoted us a price much cheaper then the office we were at, but they refused to schedule her an appointment since our dog was in such poor condition. How was this missed? Even the vet there couldn't believe Dr Barnes didn't see this on an ultrasound as there wasn't just one small fluid sac but multiple sacs of infection in her uterus. So needless to say after thousands of dollars our dog is alive thankfully, but we are still dumbfounded as to how this serious of an illness was missed. Guess we learned our lesson..

I was unhappy with the results I was getting with my previous vet so I decided to try north river animal hospital because it was well rated and also very conveniently located close to my home. I was skeptical because I have been dealing with alot of issues with my German Shepard for many months with no real positive outcomes. I was so impressed with this facility!. My dog was in quickly and evaluated promptly and was returned to my vehicle to wait Instead of waiting alone in an exam room. When the doctor called she was polite and patient and explained everything so much better than anyone at my other vet. The vets are great, as are most of the techs. I say most because one of them was quite rude, seemingly in a hurry. Normally I would understand, but I was trying to talk to her after hearing from them that my pet has a terminal illness. I was shocked by the lack of compassion and gave up trying to talk to her, letting her leave. I don't think this one tech reflects the whole clinic. The vet was very kind and called personally both times to speak to me about my pet's condition and my options. I still bring all my pets here, and I just wish I could go inside with them. I know why we can't, but I hate not being able to see what is going on during my pet's exam. A live video feed would be helpful and appreciated.

Not totaly happy. my Shih tzu has allergies and they gave her antibiotics and anti itch pills but said the reverse of what each pill did, i quit giving the what i thought was the itch pill because she didnt itch and when the infection didnt go away i found out i had quit the antibiotics. i really dont like that you cant go in and actually talk to the doctor even with mask and social distance, i dont trust the girls that you talk to because of the miss information i have gotten

Great staff! I just moved to the area and had to bring my dogs in. They have been itching and chewing their feet like crazy for almost 3 years. Their old vet chalked it up to allergies and only threw steroids and antibiotics at them. Even after many times of telling them that it doesn't help. The old vet did the skin scrape and only checked for mites every time. I came here and the checked for everything! Turns out they both had a yeast infection on their skin. So they gave an alternative to the steroids (one that doesn't destroy their liver and other things) and gave mass for the yeast infection. Within 2 days of giving them the new meds. My dogs are like completely different animals! You can tell they feel so much better than they have in a long time! So greatful I found north river!
