Love this place! Super friendly and welcoming staff. The vet advised what she thought was best for my cat, but was in no way pushy or guilt tripy (I've had previous experiences with other vets that did) In the end I took her suggestion and what a great change in my cat! They helped me calculate her diet, made suggestions about ways to help her at home and even drew a picture with her name on the medication bag. It was adorable and really shows they go the extra mile. Even just when you call, they sound friendly and happy. I highly recommend South End Vet!

Since Dr. Molnar left, there has been a high turn over of staff. Dr. Theissen replaced him but we found out, beginning this year, through an advertisement (not the hospital itself) that she and other staff have left . We were not impressed that we had not been informed like previously with Dr. Molnar. I do not know what to do now as we and our cats trusted Dr. Theissen.

First time going there. I had to put my cat down of 18 years. They were very friendly and full of compassion. Answered my questions and even gave me time with him before and after. They even gave me a free clay molding of his paw print which was super nice!

I'd like to tell you about a wonderful, amazing dog named Max. Max was brought to this clinic by a government appointed power of attorney to be put to sleep, and it was because of Dr. Thiessen's actions that he came under the care of Before The Bridge Senior K9 Rescue. My husband and I are actually now the forever foster parents of sweet Max. Jeff (my husband) is Max's hero, and his entire world. Max has cushings disease that is being as well controlled as possible by his medication, but he has however developed a seizure disorder too. We are also treating that, and it seems to be helping. We just want everyone to know how much Max has changed and flourished, and how well he is doing now. We thank Dr. Thiessen from the bottom of our hearts for everything she did in saving our boy. Every day is like a gift with his quirky personality and "old-man charm" :)

Does not listen or respect the owners, feels that their insight and opinions (financial needs, etc.) are useless and demeans them during appointment. Unfortunately my most recent experience was not the greatest. To be fair, each experience up to this point was enjoyable. But always remember; a veterinary hospital is also transactional, they provide a service and they should stand behind their mistakes. Trying to get in contact with anyone is an absolute challenge, and when you do connect with the manager, they will take zero accountability, even when you prove to them they made a mistake. This review and experience was a significant breach of my trust and I am very disappointed. While completing my 2020 taxes - My financial advisor made a comment about a charge incurred by the veterinary hospital. It appeared that my animal was administered Rabbies 2 times within a 3 year period. After catching this mistake, I attempted to reach out to the animal hospital via email. Unfortunately the email on their invoice was inaccurate and does not work (Red flag number 1) After calling the location, I was given the run around about how it could have been a paperwork issue, etc and I immediately questioned and asked if it was their responsibility to keep accurate records of my animals, which they indicated yes. I asked why their email on the invoice doesn’t work and now this inaccuracy in my paperwork (which was an additional charge on my behalf) I called the hospital 3 times until I demanded to speak to a manager. The manager mentioned that it happens and if I wasn’t happy she would be willing to forward my files off to another hospital and offered to refund my 28$. It’s besides the point, I’m not sure how you trust a business after this? It’s unfortunate because I firmly believe in supporting local, small operations. But how the manager and team handled this inquiry significantly breaches my trust. I share this as a BUYERS BEWARE, CHECK YOUR BILLS, CHECK YOUR SHOT DATES. I am certainly not the first or last. Again I want to mention that the animal hospital sends out reminders, and should be keeping accurate records. Very disappointing, and you can keep my 28$...

Taking my cat to South End Veterinary Hospital was a very pleasant and stress free experience. The staff and veterinarian, Dr Thiessen, were very kind, helpful and the knowledgeable. I did not need to wait for my appointment and was seen promptly at the appointed time. Dr Thiessen did a thorough exam of my cat and gave a great explanation of potential issues with my pet. It will be sure to take my cat back South End Vet Hospital for any care that he needs.

Let me start by saying that Dr Stuart is a very sweet vet. However, my dog almost died from her negligence and misdiagnoses. I took my shitzu here 3 different times as he was not feeling well. Initially she said that he was probably depressed because we were expecting a baby..! When his condition didnt improve i took him back. He was diagnosed with an ulcer by Stuart and sent home with meds. I forcefed my dog wrong medication with his condition worsening by day. I called and they told me to continue with treatment plan. This whole thing cost about 700$. We eventually decided our dog needed emergency vet visit because he was looking horrible. We took him to southglen. The vet took one xray( 1 hour apptment) and told us that our dog will die within a day as there is a huge tumor that is about to burst....so an emergency surgery was needed. 1000$ all in.... And i almost lost my dog that werk. Again stuart is a sweet vet but she is horrible at diagnosing and providing treatment. If you require shots or simple procedures then sure....but please beware and if you love your pet get a 2nd opinion

Friendly caring staff. Dr.Steuard is a very knowlegeful doctor and cares about the pets! So many veterinarians are all about the money but if you want a sincere knowlegeful vet give Dr.Steuard a try you'll only regret not trying out Southend vet clinic sooner.

After paying hundreds of dollars on multiple visits to South Side Veterinary Clinic, our cat was in worse shape than before we 1st went there. They pulled his toe to realign a broken bone and then put a cast on for 30 days with 2 cast changes in that time. After the 3rd cast, an X-ray showed the toe was not aligned. They were about to put a 4th cast on when we went for a 2nd opinion to my parents’ trusted vet (Linden Ridge, best vets ever). Linden vet suspected infection due to his swollen toes, and did blood work to confirm it. There was also some scabbing on his leg from the pressure of the casts. They said they absolutely would NOT put a cast on it because the leg was mangled looking, crusty in the toes, scabby, and infected. It needed to breath. To think Southside almost put a cast on again, with an infection they hadn’t identified, onto a mis-aligned bone. They wasted out cats precious healing time, and several hundreds of our dollars. I’m really not sure what they were trying to accomplish. I would absolutely NOT recommend going to this vet for any similar complex issues. They were always good in the past for our routine visits, friendly. But this experience just felt like incompetence at work.

Murphy loves going to see her he gets so excited even before we get in the office, once in he's looking for his favorite Dr. Shannon till he sees her and then runs right up to her for all the loving she gives him. Dr. Shannon Steuart is the best vet out there! She is kind, caring, and goes above and beyond to care for her patients. She is also so smart and well informed on various diseases, but still takes the times to explain things in a way that you can understand. She is the only vet that I trust with my animals. The clinic itself is always clean and the staff are friendly. I wish that I could give Dr. Steuart and the other staff members 10 stars! Dr. Friesen, however, leaves much to be desired. She does not come across as kind or caring. I have seen her twice now, for urgent issues when Dr. Steuart was away. Both times she has insisted on testing my cats for ear bacteria (we were there for a totally unrelated, non-ear issue both times) and insisted that they needed (expensive!) prescription ear drops. I later found out that they did not actually need these drops, and that she had essentially doubled the cost of my bill for no reason at all. I will not be seeing her ever again. In summary, Dr. Steuart = 10 stars, Dr. Friesen = 0 stars

I foster and have brought dogs to many vets and this is the one I use for my dogs. Such amazing service and the vet is so kind and sweet and you know that she loves dogs. It is clear that her passion is animals and that she is very conscious of the costs the owners have. She is thoughtful and respectful. I recommend them to everyone I know. A very trustworthy vet. A bonus with this vet is that they send email reminders. So if you tend to forget to give your dogs their medication you can set up reminders.

Dr. Suzanne Thiessen and the whole team at South End Clinic are wonderful, warm, and passionate about pets! When Dr. Thiessen worked at a clinic 40 minutes from my house, I made the trek with cats yowling in their carriers because no one puts as much effort and attention into her patients as she does. When my father's dog developed allergies, Dr. Thiessen worked tirelessly with us to determine the allergy and find a way to make our pup more comfortable. When my cat was terrified of the vet clinic and had a panic attack in the examining room, Dr. Thiessen brought his shot out to the car so that he wouldn't have to return to the scary room. When I called her on a Saturday afternoon just before she closed to ask about my mom's elderly pet, she patiently listened to my concerns and helped me make her more comfortable. And when I adopted a handicapped kitten with neurological issues, Dr. Thiessen researched the condition, risk factors, and recommendations of other vets to make sure she could provide our cat with the best care possible. Now that she has moved to a closer clinic with a staff team that is as dedicated and knowledgeable as she is, I am thrilled to continue to visit her and my animals are always given the highest level of care at a very affordable price. I always trust that every recommendation they make is in the best interest of my animals and my bank account! I refer friends and family to them every chance I get, because I know the level of care and commitment simply cannot be topped.

Our two cats have been going to South End Vet for their yearly shots since they were kittens. They had been under the great care of Dr Molnar until he left to move back home. Then in mid-August one cat developed a disorder called Feline Hyperesthesia. This is when we met Dr Thiessen and got to know the staff much better as we were there quite regularly in Sept to Nov. With the help of Dr Thiessen, we were eventually able to figure out the cause of this disorder, thus a treatment for Tasha. Dr Thiessen and staff were always available by phone, email and in-person to help us through this ordeal. She also did some research for us on the type of meds and dosing we could use as we worked through the various causes, she referred us to a specialist and she was always there for us with information or support. It was a very stressful time, but we always knew that Dr Thiessen and staff would not stop until we found a solution. I am happy to report that we are no longer regulars at the clinic (although we miss you!) as Tasha's condition is now under control and she is returning to her normal cat life.
