(Edit: updating since ive been several times since my last review) I absolutely love this place. This year one of my cat boys needed to very large surgeries pretty quickly. They helped me to figure out the best way for me to pay for it, they were extremely communicative and helpful with any and all of my questions. The front staff is so helpful and kind! I've never felt rushed or like I shouldn't be there. They totally respect my concern as a pet parent, and never make me feel guilty for how nervous I can be. They give really thorough after care instructions, and they're very easy to contact in the case of an emergency after a procedure. They very obviously care about the animals that they take care of, and they respect the fact that my cat is like my child, and there's no questioning how important that responsibility is. I couldn't be happier that I found this vet. I have two cats, and even through covid it's been very easy to get them in and out, to speak with the doctor / receptionist and get all of my questions answered! Again, cannot recommend more!

My beloved girl of 10 years left this clinic only to pass in an emergency clinic an hour and a half later. I called 4 X after leaving this clinic looking for help from them, not once was I made to believe she was in medical and respiratory distress. On my own, I realized it and rushed her to an emergency clinic. She had been suffering for weeks undiagnosed with a potentially fatal disease I found out there. She had Laryngeal Paralysis and presented at this clinic with a very common symptom attributed to that disease weeks prior, and was seen by Dr. McMillan. This symptom I was told not to worry about at that appointment. My biggest regret is not seeking a second opinion. Also a tech , while trying to take blood for blood work, broke the needle repeatedly on her leg, adding to the respiratory distress she was already under from having an undiagnosed disease. One of the most dismissive, careless techs , I’ve ever encountered. And one of the most untrustworthy I see now after viewing her statement in the investigative report. There have been many false statements made by several individuals here. We have been left devastated at the trauma of losing our precious girl.

I came in for a spat but they ended up giving my cat an abortion without alerting me she was even pregnant, if I knew she was pregnant I would have never got her spayed. The nurse over charged me and said there was nothing else they can do once the procedure was already started. If I was to be known of the situation then I never would have consented to the procedure, I already paid the deposit on the spay but really not communicative or professional.

I have taken 3 of my dogs here. I use them as my primary vet, not just to neuter my boys. I adore this place, I find that they are honest and real. They make sure that I know what's going on and why. I have lucked out with my dogs not needing care further than check ups and shots. I bring up issues and they address them taking the minute detail I mention seriously and giving me solutions and options that work for me and my boys.

I emailed about my 5 month old puppy having a weird looking tooth on the side of her gums, i didn’t even have to come in! I called and the nice lady was just about to call me, and she explained that even though it might look infected it would most likely fall out because the adult tooth is coming in, and today (a day later) the tooth fell out!! She was super nice and saved me some money on top of it. Highly recommend this clinic. Thank you guys for the fast response as well!:)

We recently had my uncle's cat spayed here at the O.S.C. And we received friendly, prompt service. NO hidden fees .. the Man on the phone explained ALL fees including extra fees that might arise. They explained everything to my uncle about the procedure and after care as well as sent him home with pamphlets so "he didn't have to remember anything". She will be going back for her boosters to the spay clinic and we are confident that the service will be nothing less than outstanding.

What a wonderful group they have here, surgery is nearly painless as they use laser technology, picking up I'm always nervous but the afternoon shift is upbeat kind and understanding. They go over everything with you, and of course this is reasonably priced services! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Great doctors. Always compassionate and great with my basset hound. Pricing is good and no surprise extras added on just because. Edit: Just wanted to stress how wonderful, and above and beyond this clinic is. I never have to wait long to get an appointment, and the staff are always very loving. The pricing is always less than I expect to pay. The vets don't like to do unnecessary treatments or surgeries if they're not needed. Best vet in town.

Rosie Odessa was rescued from the streets of Texas, and came home to Edmonton with all her vaccinations, but needed to be spayed. Friends told me to go to The Spay Clinic, and we are both glad we did. Friendly, efficient, safe and affordable - what isn't to like? Seriously, I recommend The Spay Clinic for all cats and their owners. You will both feel happy after a visit!

What an amazing vet clinic! The staff were amazing here. Brought my female cat in for a spay. Had to postpone due to complications. A week of antibiotics and probiotics. Surgery ended up going well the second time around. The best part? The final cost was still less than what other clinics charge just for surgery (not including the add-ons of IV, meds, cones,....). I highly recommend The Spay Clinic. Will be going back for of my Savannahs.

Thank you to the reception staff, vet-techs, and veterinarian for a job well done this past week when my puppy was neutered. I can understand how frustrating it can be for so many nervous pet-owners (and their pets) walking in concerned; but as I watched the staff patiently handle each and every customer and pet with empathy, kindness and gentle hands, I was impressed with how their professional attitudes immediately calmed not only the owners, but their pets. As pet-owners we tend to forget we project our fears onto our pets without meaning to. I watched some dogs 'coaxed and carried' in, shaking in terror. My puppy was excited to walk in, as he greeted everyone in the line up. I did my best to make sure he would not be fearful. It worked - he trotted off delighted to go with the vet tech. Spaying and Neutering is not a difficult process at all. It's quick and healing is fast for our pets. Animals memories span approximately 20 minutes (if that). They live in the moment, the here and the now. They won't remember what happened in the Spay Clinic. Pets move forward by the time the car ride home is completed. That's what makes them so forgiving. My pup was hard to keep still the next day! I am very grateful to this wonderful team and highly recommend them, not only for their cost efficiency, but for the excellent work they do. Christie

Heard about the spay clinic from a friend. After calling around to get quotes on getting my puppy neutered + microchip, and they were by far the most reasonably priced. Not to mention, I received the most information from them over the phone inquiring than anywhere else. (Ex. What is a popular age, day before surgery requirements, etc) When I took my puppy in this past week they were so kind and approachable. I left for the day knowing he was in good hands. When I came to pick him up they were giving me lots of after care tips, explained all of the information and papers I received. Excellent place!

What a great clinic with a wonderful vet, great vet techs, just caring staff all around!i brought my senior doberman here to have her teeth cleaned and a couple extractions, and then returned a few months later for surgical removal of a cyst she had developed. They put me at ease, as i was nervous putting an 11 year old doberman under,especially twice in one year, but she was a champ and there were zero issues. Her teeth were perfect , the cyst removal was flawless, and you can't even tell where they cut her open!They listened, Dr West is very knowledgeable and friendly, and the prices are the best you'll see anywhere.I recommend them to every pet owner i know!

They were so good with my dog Shadow. He had really bad ear infections and no one seemed to know what was wrong. They found the right medications and he was finally cured of his issues. Unfortunately he was due to come back for a follow up and he suddenly passed away. They took the time to write a hand written card to us which meant the world. I went back with my other dog as she is highly allergic to vaccinations, and they gave her the utmost care and keep her all day to be sure nothing happened to her. My heart was broken from the loss of my big guy, but we got a new pup and everything right from the first shots to her spay and anything else will be done there. They are the sweetest caring people! I have a third pooch who is the grumpiest doxie and is scared of everyone and they were so patient and kind to him as well. What a great team. Thanks from the bottom of my heart. AMAZING VET CLINIC!! After discovering my cat had a loose tooth and bad breath I started looking for a vet. Most places I called wanted $70 to even see him and said the starting price for a teeth cleaning and single extraction was $600. One place even quoted me over $2000!! When I called The Spay Clinic they told me they would not charge for a consultation and that they could see him the next day. During the exam I was informed that it is quite normal for cats to loose their teeth and the bad breath was because of food build up from him not chewing on that side. She said the tooth would likely come out on its own and that overall his mouth looks to be in good shape, just I may want to consider a cleaning in the future. I asked for a quote and couldn't believe how fair their pricing was compared to everyone else. No hard up-selling just a true, honest business ran by great people. Thanks Guys!

The spay clinic downtown has been there for so many years and jeepers, how is it I walk in thinking the price hasn't changed in 25 years. Somewhat humorous, not so much from their perspective. Perhaps cats are different. If memory serves me correct, kittens are relatively quick, easy and affordable, unless a female has had litters, than the price climbs. Dogs go by weight. Who knew. Cost was $275, still very affordable compared to a vet and they've been doing this a longtime. They are kind, accommodating, professional and the clinic is always very clean. Ample parking and closer to 107 ave as opposed to the heart of downtown. For those who consider themselves low income, there is a program called Pals and they do spay and neuter at 25, first pet and 15-20 for each additional animal. I'd heard there is a van that comes to neighborhoods but I think with Pals, you may need to make your way to the humane society. Way the hell out on 137 ave and 156 st or170 st. Nonetheless, if you can arrange it, save thee bucks. Definitely not anything close while you wait but if you must, bring a book, a snack and hope for a lovely summer day. Spay clinic is awesome. Spoke with Brie today and she is extremely patient, kind and professional. They are currently booking 4-6 weeks ahead.

I chose the Spay Clinic based solely on price and although there were a few add-ons it ended up being competitive still. But being from Sherwood Park and a small business owner myself, I wouldn't do it again. For the marginal savings I lost considerably more with driving downtown and back in rush hour. So learning from this experience, I'll stay local going forward.

But when we came back for the second set of shots, the amount of attention they paid her and the amount of care that Dr. West took in talking through things with us and listening to our concerns was amazing. I took my Italian Greyhound here for her spay and the people at the Spay Clinic were incredibly kind and professional. I booked an appointment two weeks prior and on the day of, I dropped my puppy off and picked her up that same evening. They gave me a cone, and did her microchipping during the spay procedure. They offered a complimentary identification tattoo for my puppy, but I passed on that. Ivy’s incision healed perfectly with no issues!

In Need of Veterinary Clinic??? Should you or someone you know need a vet. please let me enlighten you to someone who I believe really, really does care!!! My brother experienced something that is not the norm in today's everyday life very often, Understanding & Compassion!! His boarder collie "Toni" of many years needed surgery note this "IS" and "Was" his baby girl... He told me the story of a vet who understood and truly loved animals. Not only was cost reasonable but the doctor himself followed up with a phone call to check on her. And so "Spay Clinic" became the go to doctor for my brothers pride and joy. But the final day of heartbreak did come and I can't believe the respect, compassion and caring the doctor and his staff showed my brother. This is hands down, the best vet in the entire city. It's actually affordable, centrally located and the staff care more than anyone else I know. They will go above and beyond to make sure pets are taken care of, treated and saved. They saved my cat when he was on the brink of death when most places would have given up or told me it was too late to go anything. We planned to do dental cleaning for our dog. Because we are not living in Edmonton, we wanted to finish it in one day, which should be in two appointments usually. The front desk lady helped me a lot and tried many times to confirm a time with their doctors in order to help me complete the cleaning in one day. She really did very well with great patience. They did the dental job well with a fair price, and extracted more teeth from my dog than we expected. My poor thing was just fell sad for the whole night. But the thing I felt uncomfortable was that one front desk girl was working with an unpleasant mood when we were there. When I did not catch what she said at first time, she just repeated with a higher tune and looked unhappy.

I was nervous bringing my boy here, because of the low prices. But upon him receiving his neuter, I was pleased. The work was clean, and done right and he was in a very chipper mood (despite having his balls chopped) the following days. His recovery was fast and painless as well. The reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5, however, is I thought that the drop off and pickup times were odd.

I wanted to take my cat to there. I called them for arrange an appointment they did not answer my all and put me in waiting immediately. I hold the call for 30 minutes but nobody answered. Then I filled appointment form on their website but no body called me. In their website they wrote that they are animal lovers. I think they are not animal lovers and do not respect costumers. I will never call them again.

They gave me a medical note getting me out of walking my dog for 2 weeks, 5/5 stars. But in all seriousness we've been to a few vets around Edmonton when we first got our dog and the The Spay Clinic has been brilliant for the past few years. Our pup has going here since he was spayed through to being stitched up this week from a little mishap. The staff are super friendly and really seem to have your pets interest in mind. The vet is extremely knowledgeable and takes his time with your pet and with you to answer your questions. The prices have been great, it's only once we went here we realized how much we had been over charged at other places. My friend recommended them to me and I will be sending all of my friends to them. Thanks for everything!

Hello, I just hung up the phone from the Clinic after Cameron insinuated that I was lying. I recently took in my 2 rescued kittens for spaying and vaccinations. During the post-op consult I was told that the kittens would need to come back for a second round of vaccinations in 4 weeks. I asked if there was a price break for having 2 kittens at the same time? The technician said we could do a half time $60.00 each kitten instead of the $80.00 each. I just called to book the appointment and followed up with what I was told - Cameron came on the phone to tell me "none of his staff would say such a thing, that he trains them well". I got that number from someone and that someone was a small blonde young lady in pink scrubs. Needless to say I canceled my appointment.

May 25, 2018, second time coming here - return customer. They are amazing, the staff are friendly, approachable and go beyond what I call customer service. The spay clinic treated my dog as if they were their own and with such compassion. I have had one other dog spayed here and this is my second time returning to have another dog spayed. Their prices are in line as to what a vet should charge and they offer regular services any vet would. I will always be a supporter of this fantastic place and will let others know, just how good the spay clinic in Edmonton is.

Took my kitty to The Spay Clinic to get fixed. I had a wonderful experience, they made sure she had all of her shots and provided lot's of info on how they do the procedure. My cat was not happy with me when I dropped her off and picked her up and they did a great job caring for her evening though she probably wasn't the best to deal with. If you are worried that the good price is too good to be true, its not. The price is fair and the quality is amazing. I went to a different vet and found out my cat had bladder stones. They wanted $1,575.00 for the surgery and I cried when I saw the price. I called The Spay Clinic to ask if they did stone removal surgery and they did, not only that it was less than have what the other clinic was asking for. Cameron was the one who helped me over the phone and he was so patient with my millions of questions and answered each one. I picked up my cat and the place of incision was sewn up flawlessly. The vet assistant who helped me (her name escapes me) was so helpful and explained everything well and answered my extra 1000 questions. These people clearly love their jobs and what they do and it shows in their work how much they care about each animal that passes through and they don't drain your bank account in the process so everyone can afford to keep their companion healthy. Thank You so much for everything.

I visited 8/19/2017 because the Canadian border let us in but warned us that the American border might not let us in with a rabies vaccination that expired literally that day, so we had to find somewhere to get the lil kitty vaccinated. The front desk guy was wonderful and the doctor was super sweet and made sure my kitty was comfortable on our long drive. My cat hadn't been using her litterbox I provided for the trip so the vet helped her eliminate. I will always remember Edmonton warmly because of how wonderful everyone was here. I was having issues with my American credit card not working and the receptionist gave our vaccination for free.

Hands down the best clinic for my fur babies. I have had 3 of the 4 spayed/nutered and all 4 see Dr. West and Dr. McMillan. We recently had a very bad injury for my oldest girl. When I called they could not fit us in but sent us to the urgent care clinic in St. Albert (not a great experience). The next morning when I called and explained what happened they fit Alice in before the morning was over, Dr.West confirmed the diagnosis from the evening before but without the dramatics and fear (being told to euthanize the poor dog if it wasn't fixed immediately). He also called me at home when his day was done as I wasn't the one to bring Alice in earlier. We went over the options and he gave me his honest opinion on the best course of action. Alice had her knee surgery almost 2 weeks ago and thanks to Dr. West and his team I knew what I was in for price wise and what to expect from the clinic he was sending us to. An added bonus is that the surgeon was the mentor of Dr. McMillan. I can honestly say the staff at the spay clinic have been the absolute best and provides the best care. Most importantly all 4 of my animals love them, even the one that is most weary (when my kids are with us) had no instinctual guarding behavior of myself or my kids. To me this shows 100% that they are the best fit for my animals. For anyone with a bad experience or nightmare visit as I had in the past who has lost all trust in vets please take the time to look into this clinic, they will restore your trust and faith and your pets will be looked after with the best care possible. I cannot say enough to begin to thank and tell the staff at the clinic what their care means to us.

Update Feb 24/2018: Their prices have gone way up. I just called to book a cat in for 2 booster shots. The price I was given was $120. A year ago I paid under a hundred dollars for full vaccinations on a cat. I ask the receptionist and she confirmed that they have raised their rates. I called another vet and was booked in to have the same shots for with checkup for $85. The spay clinic wanted to charge $80 just for an exam. What a rip off. All they do is feel around and look at the teeth. That is not worth $80. Old review (1+ year ago) I called around and these guys had the best prices (Male cat neutering). Super friendly staff, got an appointment within 2 days of calling, free parking right of front of the building, Clinic is clean and modern (at least it looks that way from the front office). I was able to get my cat vaccinations done at the same time. They even trimmed my cats nails at no charge (I didn't even ask them to). Overall great service.

This should be the only place you take your animals to get neutered. All my dogs growing up were taken here. Now my new dog and cats have been taken here. Never had any issues. Animals were in good spirits when picked up (as good as can be expected) prices are also good. Beware of pop up shop neuter clinics in Edmonton. I took my first dog to the wrong clinic because the name was similar. You can tell by reviews who is the actual good practice. My veterinarians recommend this company as well and they've been open forever!

I made an appointment over a week ago for my cat Sammie. I work full-time, and just like most people with a hectic schedule I am unable to bring her in on weekdays so I requested a Saturday. I was given an appointment date and time. I live on the far North side of Edmonton and it takes quite a while to get to the downtown area. My appointment time was for 0930. When I arrived to the clinic and went to check in Sammie, the receptionist asked for my information and asked me if I had booked an appointment. I’m not sure what happened but they did not have us in their schedule. I informed her that I arranged for this appointment over a week ago. She asked the staff in the back if they have time to see Sammie. I heard one of the women respond in a very rude tone stating she doesn’t have time for this and that she is very busy. The receptionist came back and asked if I would like to schedule an appointment for a different Saturday. I informed her that I had booked for this Saturday at 0930 and I had arranged things so I can be here for my appointment today. She again asked some staff members about their schedule and informed me that the veterinarian technician is assisting with a surgery and could see Sammie in an hour-ish if I wanted to wait around. I understand that they are busy, but think about your clients as well. I work full-time, have kids, blah blah blah. I made an appointment for a reason. I am not impressed with this place and I will never try to take another animal of mine here again.

Dr. West is the most caring Vet I have come across. I rescued my dog Cooper who from the start was troubled. I took him to another clinic who only wanted my money and not the well being of my pet. So I chose the Spay clinic to take Cooper to for neuter, tattoo and a growth removed from his chin.The growth on his chin which Dr. West took care of was a wart not a MOLE that I was told he had. This wart was so large and so deep that it was down to his chin bone and we were concerned that he would not look the same after the removal. Dr. West took the time to call me before the proceedure, after the proceedure and a final call at the end of his shift to tell me about the after care for Cooper. This is what I wish all Doctors had, genuine care of animals not what goes in their pocket. I would recommend the Spay clinic for all pets and owners.

I wish I had found this place earlier, I was quoted $2500 to have the teeth cleaned and 4 teeth pulled from my current vet. Luckily I found this place and they did it for below what they quoted me (under 700), and ended up having to pull 21 teeth! My current vet would have doubled the price! Please take your dogs here and get the teeth cleaned before they get too bad like I did, had I know this can be done for under 1000 I would have taken all my dogs here years ago. Thank you guys so much, not to mention the follow up and explanation of work done was incredible.

He always explains what is going on with my elderly pets, and gives me options for how to proceed which are very clearly explained. We have taken our dog here since we first got her, and they have been nothing but excellent. They are highly communicative, and even was willing to answer our questions over email/phone if we had any concerns. Our dog is quite nervous and shy, and isn't a big fan of people. I was concerned about the difficulties they may have when checking her out. I was absolutely thrilled at how well the staff dealt with her, and approached her with patience, giving her the time, space, and food bribes she needed to warm up to them. Each and every staff member treat our pooch with the utmost kindness and respect. I am highly impressed with every individual there, and will never take our dog to another clinic in the city. I take my cat here and love it all around. The doctors are both very caring and thorough, and the staff are super helpful. I have made many panicked phone calls as a new pet owner and they have always answered my questions with patience. Beyond the lovely people, the Spay Clinic also has the lowest exam fees I could find in the city. Edit 2021: I still love the Spay clinic and bring my animals here. Dr. West has reduced his hours at the clinic, but Dr. Lagore is really lovely and took a good amount of time to explain what was happening and options going forward to me. I so appreciate the amazing people who work at this clinic, and that they prioritize accessible pricing. A good example of this - my cat recently had health issues that resulted in us bringing her in to a different vet on an urgent basis on the weekend. A blood draw at the other vet was $225, and results took 3 days. I was dreading doing follow up bloodwork, but it ended up being only about $70 with the spay clinic and I received results the next day from Dr. Lagore. I noticed a negative reviews with regards to not being able to get through on the phone. I have experienced this in the past as well, however the staff members at The Spay Clinic are very responsive through email. If I can't get through by phone, I always hear back very quickly via email. Thank you to The Spay Clinic team for all of your wonderful work!

Ive taken both my bengals to be fixed here. Both times my pets have been well loved during their day stay and the staff is so friendly and comforting! They have an efficient check in and check out process which reduces the stress on your pet and you. My male healed instantaneously from his neutering and my female came home in perfect condition and with a full and healthy appetite. She is now 5 days post op and she looks great! She did fall while jumping today and popped a stitch, I called the clinic and they allowed me to email in pictures as I was worried. They even called to tell me despite the small opening everything looks great. I feel great using the original spay clinic knowing that they are very knowledgeable, caring and affordable.

Brought my island rescue in for a hysterectomy and they fit us into a cancellation with quick thinking! She was well taken care of, and upon picking her up they gave a very detailed post-op pamphlet to make sure I had the info to get her a quick recovery. A week post-op she had a tear and I brought her back, they checked her free of charge and told me I would need some antibiotics for faster healing. Unfortunately I had no money on me, but in good trust they let me take it anyway and allowed me to pay them over the phone the next day once I got my paycheck! I do not know of any business that would trust with such a big heart, but it meant so much to me as the commute is long and I really didn't want to although I would do anything for my pup (as any doggo parent would). Huge thank you to Shayanne (sorry if I spelt it wrong) and Erin for the reassuring and hospitable service!!

Still my favorite vet to come to. Dr. Charles West is a genuine, funny, charismatic doctor who takes the time to look at your pet. I've come here for my dog's spay, vaccinations, and any concerns in between, and was never let down with the care and attention his staff and him gave my pets. I've gone to other places to try to find a place that is comparable as I no longer live on the North side of the city, but we always come back. No one else compares! We recently went for a dental consult for my poor pomeranian who cracked her tooth, and the quote was one of the lower ones I had. ( I went to 3 places). We actually had a free consult with a vet tech who itemized everything needed for the procedure and gave us an estimate. She was lovely, and took the time to explain everything for us. We will continue to see Dr. Charles West and his wonderful staff.

We were referred by a friend to the Original Spay Clinic and are very happy with our first visit. We took our cat for an exam and some booster shots. Dr. Chuck was excellent with our cat! His exam was very thorough and I didn't even notice him giving her the shots. He really genuinely cared about her. I've now brought 3 of my cats to the spay clinic to be spayed. All 3 had no problems and the staff is always very friendly to work with. They noticed my one cat had some blood in her urine so they took a sample for testing (asking me first of course) and were great about providing the antibiotics (for cheap!) once it was shown to be a bladder infection. Great place, especially for those who love their pets but don't want to spend $4-500 per cat.

I got my dog spayed and chipped here and I cannot say enough good about it! They were so detailed and made sure I understood every little thing. I'm a very anxious and emotional person so they made sure to calmly explain and really take their time with me which I can't thank them enough for. Their prices are unbeatable and it's really a most bang for your buck situation. They offer you microchipping or tattooing and extra pain meds if you want but you already get two doses for homecare when you pick them up! Picking up and dropping off was very easy and flexible as well! They also offer an amazing thing I've never seen before which is emailing the vet photos of the surgery area if you are unsure of the healing status. That means when my dogs cone came off and she started licking it and it was a little pink I was able to email the vet a photo of it instead of having to come in. (She was fine btw) Side note: any post surgery issues and visits in reference to the surgery are free which is AMAZING.

Placed a deposit for my dog to get bilateral cryptorchid neutering surgery. Apparently this is a special procedure. They were unable to work around my work schedule for an appointment. I had previously made an appointment that was cancelled on me because the vet was not available those days, and I have not been able to get an appointment with them since then. I found another clinic that let me schedule a couple months ahead. They will not refund the deposit to book the appointment, despite the fact their scheduling was not able to accommodate me. So apparently the deposit is not just to cover them in case of a no-show appointment, they will just take the money without providing services. The receptionist refused to speak to her manager a second time. They may reply they do not have a patient by this name, but my dog's situation is uncommon so I am certain they know who I would be in their system.

I cannot begin to say how much I appreciate Dr. West and his staff at The Spay Clinic. There are so many positive things to say I don’t know where to begin. After having a few not so pleasant encouters with other clinics Dr. West and his very friendly staff have restored my faith today. You are very welcomed and so is your pet the moment you walk in the door by the front staff. Dr. West was so wonderful with my fur baby, I dont think he even realized he was being given his shots! He took his time and went through everything from feeding and puppy hygiene to the benefits and risks of treatments. He will give you a totally honest opinion. I told them my dog is Healthy and didn't need the blood test for a neuter. So another 102.00 out the window! Then can't neuter until August after I already explained I work out of town and will not be available a month later!! Geeze!

took my cat tips in for rabies shots. they came out asked about his diet his living condition and if i had any concerns in his health that i wish the vet to look at, after jotting down notes they took tips inside, shortly after i got a call from the vet explaining that tips was very good and she told me about the concerns i had with tips and reassured me he was healthy, but he did have ear mites so they cleaned his ears and gave him his shots, the nurse then brought tips out placed him in the car and told me how to apply the ointment and when to help get rid of the ear mites, the ointment came in a sealed bag with easy to read instructions with pictures, went inside to pay everyone was wearing masks they quickly got me sorted and then i was on my way home with tips.

Not surprising that, while the overall star rating is quite high, the recent reviews reflect a different story here, as will this one. New vet. Charles W is gone. He's the reason there was a great team here, I imagine. Suffice to say the staff are ignorant bullies. The vet, Ellen Lagore, and her techs give contradictory information and, when pressed for clarity, granted not in a gracious manner due to my frustration, they stutter, obfuscate, and outright refuse to answer. They deny backup insulin for my cat, in case I drop the bottle on a Friday afternoon, which I have done, and I have had to 'beg' for an extra box of needles so I don't have to take time off work every month. This is just bullying behavior. I spend hundreds of dollars on sitters when I leave town to make sure my cat is dosed and then I am accused of not doing what I should be doing. Ellen Lagore needs to get a handle on her staff and her own ability to curate a place where clients are treated properly. Embarrassing.

This clinic was clean and efficient, easy to get to with free parking on street. The drop off process was fast and the staff were very accommodating to my shy pup. Pick up was at around 5pm and I did not need to wait more than 5 minutes. They provided pain medication for 2 days and post-op instructions that were easy to understand and follow. The prices at this clinic are the best that I could find in the city and after our experience I will definitely recommend.

I recently took my kitten to get neutered. With today's economy I was trying to find the best care while saving money. The clinic was very organized and clean. The staff was very friendly and greeted both me and my kitten. Although the experience was not pleasant for my kitten, he seemed well cared for. I am in Edmonton visiting my daughter with my 2 dogs. She also has 2 dogs including a 7 month old Akita cross. My 2yr old Blue Heeler cross and her pup were getting along great until I bought them a new ball which inspired a dog fight. My Blue Heeler, being the smaller dog sustained a laceration.so my daughter drove us to the Spay Clinic without an appointment as this is her regular clinic and Dr. West is her regular vet. We arrived around 4:30 on a Thursday night. We waited about an hour until Dr.west could see us. I was struck by his patience and kindness. He very obviously loves animals and he is very calm and gentle. My dog is high strung and was really scared but his calm style soothed us both! I am very grateful for his tending to our emergency and reassuring me that she would be alright. He is very matter of fact while being very knowledgeable and skilled. I truly appreciate the care we received from Dr. West and his staff especially since they were very busy and had to make time to see us.

We brought our dog in for a free dental consultation in October, they gave us a quote with a lowest-highest price. He just had his surgery mid November. He ended up needing much more treatment than anticipated, and we still paid just under the highest end of what we were quoted! Everyone we interacted with was professional, understanding, and quickly responded to any questions or concerns. We chose this office based on their excellent reviews, and I'm glad that we did. We had to travel 45 minutes each way, even though there are other vets much closer.. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing treatment for their animals.

I took my pup in to be spayed this week. They didn’t require a pre-op vet visit like most places and they provided and estimate for quote up front. Everyone was so wonderful - kind, knowledgeable, helpful. When I picked my little lady up, I had 6 people come to meet me to tell me how much they loved my dog and how well she was doing. They went through her post-op care in detail. Her meds came in pre-filled syringes (not pills) - this is the first time a vet has ever done that for my pets. They even registered the microchip for me. I am happily going to continue using their services and refer to anyone I know who needs a reliable, friendly, and reasonably priced location to take their fur-kids!

This is my preferred vet by far and I drive from the north end of the city just to take my fur babies here. The vets are very caring and respectful. We always receive good care and they are clean and organized. There are double doors to prevent "escapies" which is great. I took my one cat to have teeth removed and not only was it handled compassionately, but cost efficient! My old vet wanted almost double for the same job. The vets have not always been the same when I go in, but the level of care always has. I highly recommend this place to any pet owner.

I brought my small pom in for a teeth cleaning and extractions. They were very reasonably priced and took great care of her. I was very concerned with such a small dog being put out. But they reassured me every thing would be fine. I called to check up on her and they were very nice and gave me an update. When I came to pick her up the front desk staff was cuddling her and making her feel safe. They even gave a bag of dental diet food and sample of enzyme toothpaste for us to take home and try. The Spay Clinic is amazing for affordable pet care and they treat your pets as you do like family. From booking the appointment to the drop off, the staff is warm and friendly and answers all your questions. However, I did wish that they would better prepare their clients for post surgery procedures (such as what to expect and changes in the pet's lifestyle while they recover). When I was asking questions at pick up, the staff seemed a bit annoyed that I did not know the answers.

I have had 2 cats spayed at The Spay Clinic. I have also had various family members take their animals to the team at The Spay Clinic. I would advise anyone that is looking for a professional, knowledgeable, caring and supportive team. In an effort to perform these highly skilled surgical procedures, on my pet or any pet. To strongly consider receiving their care here. The staff is always friendly and very supportive if you aren't familiar with the process. I've often seen them walking dogs out to the vehicle with their owner, while giving them post operation guidance and support. They also have given a package of papers for any that need a reminder to watch for any post operation complications that may arise. Which I have never encountered with The Spay Clininc. It is nice to know that the information is provided as well as, the emergency contact info should such a thing occur. Their location is very clean and professional! The staff excellent! The Service! A PLEASURE!

Took two female cats in to get fixed. Friendly staff and easy access on weekends. Dropped off both cats in the morning and picked them up in the afternoon. No complications from the surgery and both cats are fine. Extra charge for one cat who was going in heat almost constantly but you can't get them in on a moment's notice between cycles. Prices used to be cheap but now they are the same as most vet places.

I love this vet office. We are pretty regular visitors because of our dog's chronic allergies and they are always so good at getting her in as quickly as possible and the space is always welcoming and feels safe for our dogs. The girls working there always remember our dog and it's nice to have that sense of familiarity for her. They don't gouge on prices and provide the best veterinary care we've ever seen. It can take a long time to get in but they've added another awesome DVM so hopefully wait times will be shorter with that and as we come out of covid restrictions but it is worth it and they try to be accommodating. WE ARE SO GRATEFUL FOR YOUR TEAM! Also you guys have been great with the COVID-19 limitatons. I've had to come a few times and the communication was just as strong over the phone as in person.

He's obviously devoted to ensuring that pets of all income levels can get first rate vet care and in Dr. McMillan he has clearly found someone who shares his goals. Update: The Clinic has continued to be well beyond excellent. When one of our dogs suddenly went blind, Dr. West pulled out all the stops to help us - including checking in with us at home.

Love, love love! I took my 12 year old cat in not even knowing what was wrong with her, only to find out that she is diabetic. Dr. McMillan clearly and patiently explained everything to me, letting me know exactly how we would proceed from there, making sure she didn't overload me with too much info or technical talk at a time! Dr. McMillan and the rest of the staff did absolutely everything to make sure my cat was set up with the proper dosage of insulin, even though my cat was finicky and it took some extra work, and gave my husband and myself a hands on lesson on how to administer it! I even received 2 follow up calls at home, from the doctor herself, to make sure my fur baby was doing well and not having any negative reactions. Sorry this is a little long winded, but I simply cannot say enough good things about this place! As an added (and much appreciated!) bonus, the price was much lower than anywhere else I have been or contacted. I highly recommend it, I will not take my babies anywhere else.

Our Ginger was spayed at the clinic last month. The booking process was easy, they called to remind us about the instructions before surgery, and the intake was quick. We were super stressed as most people are dropping their pups off, but everything went well and Ginger (and I) both survived the day. :) She needed a follow-up because her bandage fell off too early and I was afraid of infection. The clinic staff were fantastic and very accommodating at the follow-up appointment. Highly recommended.

Booked my dog in and ended up paying LESS THAN HALF of what they had originally quoted after the procedure. They explained the work required ended up being a lot less once they got her on the table and were able to have a better look at her teeth. The Original Spay Clinic is by far the best Veterinary Clinic in Edmonton. My dogs have been under the care of quite a few Veterinarians and I used to shop around a lot due to being low income. However, we have found our forever clinic. Every single person who works at this location cares deeply about the animals, the Veterinarians take the time to answer all your questions and help you figure out the best options for both you and your pet. My dog Laila recently had a dental appointment and they were so amazing with us. I was nervous but they helped make everything comfortable for both me and my dog. I was concerned about Laila's and I ended up going back in and the Veterinary assistants and Technicians were AMAZING! They cuddled Laila and just showed me how much they cared and were so supportive. It was amazing to see. I am just so impressed with everyone at the Spay Clinic. 10/5 stars!!!! Take your pups here!

The most friendliest & understanding staff & vets. My little kitten had an infection, and they made time to have a look at him even though they had a busy morning of surgeries etc. The receptionists were so understanding and helpful, and they really do make this place so welcoming. Thank you guys for all that you do, and the spay clinic will definitely be my go-to forever.

Awesome reasonably priced service. Front desk staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Had one cat spayed and one cat neutered plus along with immunizations. I would recommend.

These guys are great! Caring vet provider with reasonable prices. Only complaint is that it’s super hard to get in as appointments are booked up well in advance, but I guess that only goes to show how good this place actually is! We’ve had our dogs dental done here on multiple occasions. You can tell that the vets and techs know their stuff and are truly there to give your animal the best care and not just about money like so many other clinics.

I ordered a prescription refill last week and was told that I would get it before the long weekend. I called again on Tuesday (July 28) to check on the status of the order and was told it would come in by Friday and that someone would call me when it did. But no one called me back for a follow up and it seems the office closed early for the August long weekend. The medication was for a heart condition and it's pretty upsetting that the staff would neglect a pet's health like this. Recently returned to this clinic after Dr. Chuck retired and it has always been great and the staff seem to really care about the pets they care for but this unresponsiveness is very unprofessional.

Overall I would say a positive experience as I was able to get an appointment much sooner that later, price was very reasonable, and the staff member when I picked my dog up was very helpful with the questions I had. The one negative thing I have about the whole experience is my dog had a bit of razor burn from where he was shaved and this seemed to bother him quite a bit for a few days after the surgery. I think a little more care could have been used here to prevent the razor burn. If not for this I would have rated this excellent.

When my pup needed treatment for his EARS and I asked how much? Told me price ..went to appointment paid that price and then go week later for second treatment and it’s double the price. I got told well thats per ear and when I said thats not what I was told or charged last time…the rude girl at front desk was like ..to bad guess they told you and charged you wrong..
