Reception was kind and helpful in getting my dog in as quickly as possible. Both the veterinarian and her assistant were professional, courteous, and thorough with the examination. They put effort into making sure that my dog was comfortable and not stressed. Examination was meticulous and I was provided with options as to how I could proceed. At no point did I feel pushed or coerced into suggested possible procedures. This was important to me as my dog is quite old and I feel very strongly about not putting him through stressful situations unless absolutely necessary. I felt respected in my choice to choose quality of life over longevity beyond his natural lifetime. Bandit was prescribed medications that do improve the quality of his existence and we are grateful for that. Two thumbs up and five stars for Castlegar Veterinarian Hospital.

The front desk staff were nice however the vet we had was quite rude. We brought our dog in for an ear infection which is routine for his breed. We used the prescribed medication and his ear got better. They requested we bring him back for a follow up (a 60$) charge which we declined as he was completely fine and he gets very worked up at the vet. They sent a letter outlining that they would no longer have us as a client based on our care for our animals which was rudely phrased. When confronted they changed their opinion however at this point I did not want to deal with their clinic. Our pets have been going to the nelson animal hospital for the last 3 years without any issue save your time and just got the nelson with your furry friends.

The receptionist who answered the phone was compassionate and helpful!! They were able to get my dog in very quick as she had become suddenly ill (even though she was never a patient there before) The lady helping us (Beth) was incredibly kind and made me and my dog feel instantly comfortable being there, I knew she was in great hands right away!! I could rave all day about the staff here.

Well staffed and state of the art clinic providing animal health care in Castlegar. We have been clients here for almost two years now. Dr Amy and the nurses are all very kind and caring. Dr Amy explains everything in detail and they follow up phone calls to see how we are doing. They are a bit more expensive than other vet clinics we've been to but the care they provide is excellent. Would recommend for sure!

We have been bringing our cats to Dr. Kristy for over 15 years. She is wonderful with our cat. She has given us everything we need in care and health support. I would recommend this hospital for your pet. Our little Maggie has been her patient for these 15 years and hopefully for many more.

Very responsive to acute situations, accommodated us and our aging male cat for his urinary problem first thing Monday. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. The technicians and the vet herself were very attentive and showed great concern for our cat Oscar. They tried their best to make him as comfortable as possible, while trying their best to keep our cost down and our wait time to a minimum. They also take into account the distance we must go to visit them (about an hour drive through the mountains). I would recommend them to all my friends and acquaintances.

Very disappointed. I came in with a sick cat and was told to find a different clinic because the vet was in surgery and based on the symptoms i gave over the phone ( this occured during the covid 19 pandemic) my cat needed to be seen right away. The receptionist was raising her voice at me telling me i had to call them from my car to do an assessment of my cat. ( they had a sign outside their door saying if you dont gave a phone that they would do the assessment at the door) I should mention that i am a single mom with a newborn baby. I was trying to comfort my son while being told i need to go back to my car , give them all the information again through the phone and after all that they tell me to go somewhere else. They wouldn't put my cat in a kennel and expected me to drive around the kootenays looking for a vet. They proceeded to tell me that if i cant find someone immediately to come back in a few hours. Very inconsiderate and unprofessional.

Fantastic service! Beth is very responsive, patient and helpful. She calls regularly to check in on our cat's progress as we adjust his regimen. Dr. Ayers took the time to answer all of our questions and provided a clear treatment plan. Highly recommend this vet!

I called to see if they had an ultrasound machine. Receptionist told me they only used it for their own client's so I inquired about becoming a new client and the receptionist with attitude, after telling her my current vet believed she had a bleeding tumor in her kidney said "Well we are busy.... we couldn't even see her for two weeks" which would have been okay but her attitude was horrendous! I commented that I felt it was not a good way to conduct conversation to potential clients and she very rudely said"sorry you feel like that!" And hung up on me. Never will I give them my business.... no compassion to the pain my dog was in. I was not looking for special treatment, however when inquiring with a business I would expect more cordial and professional treatment. Get a new receptionist!!

This is the last time I will ever call these people!! I have a very sick dog, they said they are not taking new patients. They said this last year as well. All the lady did was referred me to a hospital in Kelowna. What a lack of concern for almy dog. You at least could have made an emergency appointment. What a crule vet
