We had a great experience here taking care of an emergency my dog had today. He sliced his paw pad during a hike this morning and even though we got to the office during their lunch break someone came to assist us. ❤️ We had to drop him off with them but he was back in my arms within 3hrs! Quite quick for having to sedate my dog, and very thorough going through his home care with us. I was a worried dog mama but I feel confident he was in good and caring hands. Thank you to the team at Westview for helping Winnie today. ????

I have been coming to the Westview veterinary clinic for over 10 years. Dr. Barnes and his staff are very knowledgable and caring. If you have an emergency they will be right there to help you answer your questions and even come in after hours If needed, because they actually care about animals And their well being. There’s not enough good things I can say about this clinic, so I will leave it at that, but if youwant the best care for your pets, choose Westview Veterinary Clinic.

I can't imagine how difficult it's been for them given the added demands caused by the pandemic, but they still respond as soon as they can, and with grace and charm.

My 84 year old father took his cat in for a dental checkup. He thought perhaps he needed an extraction. He was given a quote for over $1200 at which point he contacted me for advice because he thought it seemed extremely high. I was horrified because I had taken my own cat to the same clinic in 2016 for exactly the same procedure and it only cost me $600. I called the office for further explanation and Dr. Parsons informed me that the cat didn't even need an extraction and that she would drop the price to $800 for dental cleaning and x-rays. Seriously?? So why did the original quote include an extraction if it's not even necessary?? Furthermore I just took my own cat into the vet here in Edmonton for a dental cleaning and it only cost $300 plus tax. I realize that Powell River doesn't have the same competition as a big city and it's obviously not in the vet's best interests to be competitive but I think it's important to know what veterinary costs are outside of Powell River. It's clear that pet owners are being taken advantage of just because they may not know any better.

Dr. Barnes was our vet 20 years ago and when we returned, we felt so lucky he was still there! Great guy and terrific at what he does. Staff amazing too! Highly recommend. Eta: it's been 2 years since I wrote this review and we are still so fortunate to have Dr. Barnes and his staff as our vet. Our Ridgeback had numerous problems and he was always so attentive to her. She ended up with a splenectomy, which, at her age, came with risks she'd not make it. Well, she did. And she had a lovely last year and a half thanks to Westview Vet and their incredible team of experience and care. Ultimately, Tese's time came and she passed away in our truck on the way to taking her to them. They took her from us, all the while with the most gentle of hands. They loved our Tese too. Now we have our rescue and polydactyl and we know we have the best vet anyone could hope for. Thank you Westview Vet.
