I can’t imagine taking my 2 Frenchie’s ANYwhere else. When I first got Polly I had no idea how ill she was, I was uneducated and in love with my first puppy. Without a doubt I can say because of Dr Simmons & Trista(and the entire staff) working with me every day trying to make my puppy healthy, explaining everything to me - they are why she is still alive. When I decided to get my 2nd French bulldog I first spoke with them and asked all the questions. I had a check list of things to look for. We found the perfect companion to help Polly with her anxiety. Prim is much healthier then Polly but because of our experiences and our relationship with our vet and vet techs and the amazing girls at the front desk I honestly cannot thank them enough. Everyone is knowledgeable, professional and treat my girls like they are their own. Thank you for everything you do !!

I'm a first time pet owner and needed to bring my newly rehomed dog in for a check up because it had been awhile since her previous owners brought her. The staff and vet who I dealt with were very friendly, informative, and helpful. Prices were decent and I was offered a couple different options to work with my budget.

They are professional, caring and lately been treating my "Buddy" as he is diabetic. We have nothing but the utmost regard for this practice. Joe is a phenomenal vet. We have multiple animals we have rescued and at times the financial side is taxing. Joe has always worked with us . The level of care given to the animals is far superior to any clinic we have dealt with in the past.very thorough. Everything is explained well. This clinic provides nothing but the absolute best care.staff are just lovely too.

Had Dr Simmons. Very good vet, I could tell he really cared about animals. He was able to identify and remove a lump on our cat within 2 minutes of entering the room. So glad we went to him for a second opinion. A vet at Jackson Creek suggested $400 surgery for removal and $200 for laboratory identification.

RE: Dr. Joe Muise Our Lab was diagnosed with a torn CCL and confirmed by x ray at our local vet. She was unable to walk up stairs and in a lot of discomfort getting up and laying down. They suggested a TLPO surgery to correct the problem. This type of surgery was all that was available to our vet. Upon investigating the surgical options, we felt the TTA2 or MMP minimal approach was best suited for our pet at her age and environment. We found Dr. Joe Muise through their website promoting himself as an experienced surgeon in this field and they were close by us. We contacted their office about booking an appointment for this procedure on or about Oct 12. They stated Dr. Joe Muise was on holidays but in touch with the office, and currently booking mid December. The lady said they could not hold that date until the information was sent from the vet. The x-rays and information were sent the next day from our vet. We were then told they would review the information when he came back. We did not hear from the office, so we contacted again on November 2nd. The lady that now answered did not know anything about our pet. She said she was filling in for another person who was off indefinitely. She also said they were now booking mid January and received a lot of referrals, but still did not give us a date. She said they would contact us. Why was our case not put into the que with all the other cases if they were booking mid December? We do not understand the procedural delays that allowed others to be booked ahead of us. Clearly, they booked a month worth of surgeries since our last call. Not just current clients but on-going referrals. We finally called back Nov 11 and the lady declined to do our surgery. She said they were too busy. We never asked for our pet to be put ahead of anybody else, but we were willing to wait our fair turn. She told us to find somebody else to do the surgery. We stated to her we spent weeks trying to find a surgeon that performs this type of surgery and we only found 2 in the province and the other was 6 hours away. Upon hearing that, she stated that she would backdate our appointment and make the best effort to get us in. We tried contacting the office again on Nov 16 to confirm an appointment date, they said they would call us back but so far as of November 19 nobody has called us. While we were willing to wait for our place in line, it is unfair to our pet to unduly delay a procedure that will help in her recovery. We were also told the other knee will have to be done soon and we don’t want it to rupture before this one is repaired and face the consequences of 2 failed knees at the same time. There is no valid reason for denial of care and his conduct is unbecoming of a member of the College of Veterinarians of Ontario.

I am terribly sorry I have forgotten the wonderful woman I spoke with on the phone. Anyway BAD experience at previous vet, they will no longer see us because I wanted to take my furbaby for a laporascopic spay (which they don't offer). Original spay was going to be done here at peterborough pet hospital and back to old vet for regular check ups etc. Anyway, we have been taken on as patients (at Peterborough Pet Hospital) and we are so SO grateful. Everyone I have dealt with here has put a smile on my face and warmed my heart after being treated with such disrespect and such rude behavior from old vet. Thank you to the Doctor and all the staff that helped us out. I recommend ????????????????

I have been a client of Peterborough Pet Hospital for 16 years and find them the best and most reasonable in the area. My dog had 3 surgeries over his14 year life and Dr. Muise is the best surgeon around. An example of this is my friend from Toronto has a 13 year old Yorkie who had a very expensive surgery to enable her to walk on all 4 legs. This surgery did not work, so I brought her to Dr. Muise. He basically had to undo everything that had been done in Toronto and she is now walking like she had nothing wrong and he was not as expensive as the surgery that didn't work. I can't say enough good things about this veterinary hospital. The staff are all great.

I cant say enough good things about this vet clinic. After being to other vets in town, I thought they were all the same. 100% not true. The care my animals have received at Peterborough Pet Hospital is ten times the care they've ever received elsewhere. We've had 3 surgeries done by Dr. Muise - I dont think I'll ever trust another surgeon to treat my dogs. He is so accommodating and does an amazing job. My dog needed emergency surgery and he booked us in right away, we also had an orthopedic surgery on my dogs knee and he did follow up appointments with us for months at no additional cost. The cost of the surgery covered all follow ups which was amazing. He will explain absolutely everything to you and takes such good care of your animal. We see Dr. Simmons for our usual concerns - my dog loves him. She has always had anxiety and spent most of her past vet appointments standing and staring into a corner to avoid the whole situation. Dr. Simmons is so friendly with her and immediately makes her feel comfortable, she even wags her tail and goes to see him (something she doesnt do with anyone unless family). As a golden retriever she constantly has medical issues. Dr. Simmons works with us to not only help the problem, but maintain her quality of life, keep her comfortable and happy. Previous vets I've seen have given medications or fixed the problem at the time, but have never been available for continued care or worked with us to maintain/long term prevent things. I cant see myself ever trusting another vet with my animals the way I do here. Also the technicians are wonderful! They dont rotate staff the way other clinics do often, the girls are always helpful and friendly, talk to you about things and explain whatever you need. I 100% recommend bringing your pets here for vet care you can trust.

We were referred by our existing vet as we wanted a laparoscopic spay for our Lab pup. The entire experience was excellent. From the initial telephone contact to set up the surgery, through the day of surgery, and to the follow up to remove the sutures (3 little tiny sutures) everything and everyone were outstanding. Very glad we had the laparoscopic option locally, as our pup was fully recovered the morning following surgery. While most people think this option is more expensive it was within the range of the traditional surgery option, without the inconvenience and issue of after surgery care. Thank you Dr Joe and team.
