I brought my 10 month old male cat in for shots and to book an appointment to have him fixed. I had to fill out a form for medical history/breed/etc. I filled out the forms, the vet didn't even bother to look at them. He just asked me to put my cat on the scale, he wrote the weight down then asked me what shots I wanted to have done. I had given the vet his records from the last appointment he had out of town with all the shots he had done and ones he still needed...the vet didn't even look at it! He just kept asking me what I wanted to give him. I am NOT a vet so I have no idea what the shots are called, I had to reference the records and ask for appropriate shots. The vet gave him the needles then proceeded to tell me I had to bring him in for his second set later...this appointment was for his second set!! The vet had literally just given my cat his second set of shots! I told the vet this, and asked him when I could bring my cat in to be fixed. He said, "no, no, too young...need to wait." 10 months is not too young! He argued with me for a bit about this. The vet didn't know how old my cat was, I had written it down on the sheet and verbally told him!! Basically, what I'm getting at, is the vet had very little understanding of English and fully expected me to tell him what to do. Not a very good vet if he can't read and do something as simple as give correct shots with all previous records in front of him. Against better judgement, I took my cat back to get fixed at this office..giving the benefit of the doubt. The procedure went well and reception gave me instructions for aftercare and followed up with me to make sure my cat was doing well. The receptionist was informative and knew how to do her job properly...and is the reason I give this office two stars. I will be using a different office in the future as I'm not fully comfortable with this one...

Was not good at all. Took my dog in to be put to sleep and there was no i.v. her body spasmed in pain as she died. She threw up, there is no sink in the office, table was dirty. I hate living with what I saw my dog go through.

The worst vet experiences I have ever had! My dog is absolutely terrified of this place. I brought my 13 pound Tortito here and he had, once again another terrible experience. We came based off of their pricing rates, very reasonable - well now i understand why they are so cheap. There is absolutely zero quality of care here. The Vet does not even introduce themself to the owner or the Dog. He seems completely afraid of dogs. My dog is so friendly towards people and would not let this man even close to him. (dogs can sense alot!) The vet didn't even attempt to pet my dog or introduce himself, offer a treat or anything. Just stand there essentially staring at the dog asking me to "headlock" him as he then went to put a towel over his face to draw blood. What disgusting care from a vet - not to mention the dirty room and table. The vet is completely unprofessional and actually also left me in the waiting room as he scoffed because I said no to sedation for simple bloodwork or anxiety medication he really wanted to prescribe. The lady with him left as well. How confusing. My dog was at a vet last week for the initial exam and he loved every moment of it and the vets loved him. Unfortunately they did not do dental work. Here the vets don't even introduce themself or say hello to the dog, it is dirty, they are rude and unprofessional and actually still tried to get me to pay for an exam. Trust the doggy senses - talk to locals about there experiences here. It's nearly like they want to actively harm animals. The last time my dog was here before this was for a simple anal gland and nail trimming and they couldn't even trim his nails and recommended petsmart. Cheap if you don't want quality of care and to traumatize yourself and your loved animal. Highly recomend any other vet - even if you must pay a little extra. I'm sure long term it will be worth it mentally and physically. Bad vibes here!!!

Good prices, cheapest in town however, vet techs don't seem to know what they are doing and the Doctors themselves are obviously not animal people, was very rough with my dog when i brought him in after being hit by a car.

Was great help. They informed me that the appointment it self was going to be 30$ and if anything else needs to be done it would cost more but just to have my dog checked it would only be thirty dollars plus tax. My rabies shot will be 40$ on top of the $30 for the appointmen. So I believe that some people just misunderstood what they were being told because they perfect.

Took my cats there to be fixed . I have never had a cat in so much pain following a spay, and the stiches were awful- the edges of the incision line weren’t approximated before suturing leaving a clump of skin that caused pain with every movement. My cat also would not allow me near her and hissed at me for days following the surgery. It took a lot to get her comfortable with me again. I feel sickened that I left my animals in the care of High street vet. I will never allow my judgement to be clouded by a lesser cost again. The techs I spoke with were rude , unprofessional , and uneducated. They did not smile, and I felt nothing but judged for asking questions on aftercare. I am a regular costumer of peterborough Pet Hospital where the staff there are informative, professional and very caring . I would recommend paying the extra cost to take your animals there . You will be greated with a smile and by people who have your animals best interest at heart.

First of this place shouldn’t even deserve a star after what my mom and younger brother of 15 had to go through while bringing a beloved pet here. I want to also put out there that I write this review due to the fact that I work as an assistant for three years and I would never treat anyone’s family member the way they treated ours!!! Unfortunately I do not live in the city to have been there for my mom and brother when their Great Dane Harley passed away at 6 years, I live 3 hours away and I also have Harley’s brother from the same litter!! My mom woke up as Harley had passed away during the night, my mom is a single mom and needed help trying to get Harley out of her place. One friend came over and one random guy off the street who knew Harley very well came and helped my mom get her in he truck, my moms friend with my mom and brother to the vet but they told the guy that there would be help at the vet to do the rest. As my mom knows what care goes in to your pets aftercare as I am the ones who does it as an assistant who works at a vet clinic. When my mom got to the vet clinic all went down hill, the Vet who was on, was very rude about the fact that Harley was stiff and asked my mom very rudely what time she passed away and then proceeded to have a conversation with the receptionist about how there is no room in the freezer for this dog. When they pulled her out of the truck they didn’t give my mom time to grab her head as the vet and receptionist pulled her out of the truck they let her head smash on the ground in front of my brother. They then carried her on a stretcher to the freezer where the just dumped her like trash and while my mom got listen to bones breaking and watching them dump her. This can be morbid to a lot of people and this is why I would never take a pet that was alive or that has passed as there is no compassion to any pet or their owner!! And the after care they put into my beloved family member is horrible I cried because I know of so many other vet clinics in Peterborough where she would of never had to see what she saw that day and my family member wouldn’t have been treated like trash. My mom is traumatized after her experience her and my poor brothers last moments with his best friends are one I wouldn’t want any child to have to see!! If you can don’t go here they have cheap prices for a reason!!

I called in worried because my kitten wasn’t breathing well at 12pm and they said that the Vet would call me as soon as possible. Then 3 hours passed and I called again wondering how long I was supposed to wait, they told me he would call at 4:30 so I waited till 5pm. Still no call, so I had to call in once more being told he was literally about to call me and the gentleman I talked to over the phone hung up before I could say anything. Lastly I waited until 6pm and the lady who answered the phone all but yelled at me, telling me that the Vet was busy and I needed to wait. When I tried to reason that I had been waiting for 6 hours now she hung up on me mid-sentence. Finally the Vet called me and said they are closed now and they couldn’t see her till morning, but I had called earlier to prevent this. By this point she was barely breathing without struggle so I took her to the Kawartha Vet emerge where they said she had not one but two infections and that it was a good thing she came in when she did. Overall I felt like they dismissed my concerns and didn’t triage properly. Understanding that she wasn’t breathing well should have been a large red flag for them. Regardless I am no longer taking any of my pets here, if they don’t care when my kitten has TWO infections then how can I trust them to care for a dying pet or any other concern.

Had previously left a 5 star review two years ago when they assisted my cat in an emergency with a urinary blockage. I have called this afternoon (Friday) requesting assistance as my cat is showing emergency symptoms again. The receptionist rudely told me to go to emerg and that they are not willing to help us 45mins before closing. A urinary blockage is known to be potentially fatal in 72 hours. I'm not sure what changed in the last 2 years but these people clearly no longer care about the wellbeing of our animals. I couldn't be more disappointed.

I found the Dr to be very thorough and I trusted his opinion. He wasn't eager to run all sorts of costly tests and wanted to try some medication first for my dog. The office visit was very reasonably priced at $45 and they are open on Sat and Sun.

They have care for our cat and her kittens. They did a wonderful job and met our needs while working within our budget and did not pressure us with upselling services. They really impressed us when we had to bring our beloved cat, and the mother to the kittens in to be put down due to becoming seriously ill. The staff were compassionate and understanding. They worked with us to meet our needs help us and provide our pet with dignity in her final time. They went above and beyond by sending a personal card and flowers the following day to express their condolences on our loss. Thank you!

HORRIBLE service, needs to be investigated and possibly his license pulled. When a single Father calls in tears offering his only $100 as a start and asks for a payment plan to look at a dog I think is dying. My family dog is dying and the only was tbis office cares is if I have cash upfront!? They have good reviews by their well off clients. If you are not rich they treat you and your pet like trash.

I had two dogs in their care one of which I had to put down, everyone was so nice and very easy to work with since my emotions where all over the place I didn't know my head from my feet, I was quoted one price but they have me a discount, took very good care of the situation. Even sent a nice card which all staff signed. Still have my other dog with them and have had no issues with them at all. Would recommend.

I took my kitten in because I thought she might have a cold or allergies, either way, she needed a vet. The price for a overall checkup is $59.00 and then you pay for medication if your pet needs it. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the vet was great! This was my first time going to High Street Animal Hospital, the Vet answered all of my questions and was thorough, when checking out my kitten and we got the help we needed. Would highly recommend going here, I know I will be going back!

My dog was not feeling well, kept on vomiting and had diarrhea. We called numerous vets in Brampton, but none of them were able to make room for him. We drove from Brampton to Peterborough, and Dr. Toor accommodated him without any hesitation. The staff took him right away and gave him all the required treatment. So today I took my daughter to this vet to have her pup given his second shots. Our appointment was at 4:30pm. At 4:50 we still were not in a room, it was obviously busy and I know they had just put down a pet for someone else. My daughter had to get to another appointment so she asked the receptionist if she could have the flea treatments for the dog and cats, the receptionist said yes to the cats but not the dog. I then intervened and asked what the problem was with the dog getting his treatment. The answer I got was so strang. The answer was, the dog has not had his rabies shot yet. I had to speak up, I asked what flea treatments had to do with rabies vaccine, she would not answer my question. I demanded that given the dog needed his treatment and the plan was to rebook for 3 days down the road she still insisted that she would not give the treatment. I got very demanding and said we want the treatment, she then got up, yelled out, Fine I Will Lose My Job for you, slammed the door came back and we paid. This was the worst service ever. My daughter has now booked the dog to get shots at another clinic. On a side note, I called to set things up for a spay for my dog and a week went by with no call back. My dog is a large breed and mature, they probably aren't able to do a quick in and out so they don't want the job. That's okay, she has been spayed now.

Took my dog there for an eye infection, it was our first appointment. The vet tech didn't even get up out of her seat when we got there. She asked me to put him on the scale and what it said. She then asked me what his eyes looked like and if they were red or swollen and if there was any discharge, again she didn't bother to get up and look at him, as if she had she could have seen these things clearly if she had. Then when we were taken into the room I noticed that the table was very wobbly and had a plastic cover with ridges in it, which was incredibly dirty. When the vet came in he seemed to be afraid of my dog. My dog tried to go over and see him the vet backed up and stood in the corner. The first thing that he said to us was a mini-speach about their hours and services. He then asked us to put our 45 pound dog on the table, which freaked my dog out. He seemed very uncomfortable with my dog and got him more and more worked up. He then told us he was giving us an antibiotic eye drop, which I expected. But I had to ask him what the medication was going to be, as he didn't bother telling us initially. I asked for a prescription and he told me that it would be a 20$ charge for the prescription and then said that we need a cone as well. Not to mention he direct every question and comment to my boyfriend and avoided conversation with me unless I spoke to him first. All together this appointment cost me 70$ and I highly regret taking my dog here. I do not recommend.

They are a great vet for my younger cat, Eli. They were great with his neutering and vaccinations. They’re about 2/3 of the price of other clinics which is why I originally switched to them, as I am low income. However, my older cat is a diabetic, and a hard to regulate diabetic. Keeping him on track requires a veterinarian that is willing to communicate often. Trying to get in touch with high st vet is like pulling teeth. I leave messages and I’m lucky if I hear back 2 days later, it’s usually 4. Obviously this is NOT okay when you’re doing things like adjusting insulin. I’m not a professional and I can’t make calls on his dosing at home. I tried calling other vets to get their opinion on the situation (the vet took my cat fully off insulin) but they refused to comment without seeing him, which was impossible for me without a car or money. I called high st vet over 20 times in 2 days, trying all times of day to see if I could finally get someone to answer, leaving only 1 message so I didn’t clog up their phones. Finally my cat had an emergency and went into a potentially deadly complication of diabetes, so we called an emergency vet and were redirected to Cavan Hills Vet (24/7 vet plus emergency), where they gave us advice over the phone and detailed instructions on what to watch and do. After 2 hours and no improvement they booked him in and saw him, giving me the devastating news that he is very ill. Bruce will never be going back to this vet. I understand they are busy and this was no ones fault in particular; but given how busy they are, I think it’s important that chronically ill pet owners know how hard it is to get ahold of them. (I called them and left a message on Thursday saying Bruce was exhibiting symptoms and I wanted to start him back on insulin, they finally called me back TUESDAY, 2 days after his emergency) I saw Bruce declining before he went into diabetic ketoacidosis. I saw it coming. I tried so hard to get the vets permission to get him back on his insulin. I tried so hard to find any vet willing to advise me if it was safe to do so. We could have avoided this. If Bruce makes it through this, I plan on keeping him at Cavan Hills. Being an emergency clinic, they answer their phones 100% of the time and despite being incredibly inundated with emergencies this week they still made Bruce a high priority. This is what a vet for chronically ill pets should do. I highly recommend them.

We were quoted three times that the price of a rabies shot was going to be 40$ plus tax - over the phone; when I made the appointment in person; and even on the day we arrived for the appointment. When the bill was printed it was 70 plus tax! When asked why the bill was so high they kept trying to blame the "other girl" even though I had spoken to the receptionist THAT day to confirm the price, moments before seeing the vet. You just don't do that. That is not how you run a business. Very dissatisfied, I will never be back there again. I wonder did they do this to try and take advantage of the fact I am a senior? Disgraceful.

called for Euthanasia and was put on hold twice for over 4 min each time...I asked reception about an apt for pain meds until the decision to euthanize our 15 year old dog was made. I was told they don't see dogs that could potentially be a pit bull (not even a legit breed) and refused to book my dog.I was told vet would call me back to discuss this but never received a call back. HORRIBLE service and obviously there for the $ and not the health of and betterment of animals.

Can I give negative stars?! Took my sisters dog there as she was having tummy problems, after spending $300 on new foods and 2 different antibiotics the vet insisted she needed. Her first diagnosis was wrong, shes gotten more sick since going there. When we azked if there was a more natural way to help her the vet told us to go else where. No well we could try this or try that, just a straight up leave. These people just want to take your money. They mistreated our dog and scared her. Never going back.

The clinic was very clean and organized and the welcoming staff were amazing! However, my biggest discrepancy is with the vet my puppy and I seen. He made me very uncomfortable, was not friendly in the slightest, he was very critical of my puppies ears and made a huge ordeal over it, even though I'd had the puppy only 2 days. We are giving them another chance, however this will be a make it or break it appointment.

I was an absolute mess taking her in but the staff were very empathetic and did everything they could to console me and reassure me that my cat would be well taken care of. Amazing service!! The vet and staff were kind, understanding and professional. I had to take my cat in to get antibiotics for an ear and lung infection. I showed up stressed for my cat’s well-being and left feeling confident he would be okay. The details of his diagnosis and treatment were thoroughly explained to me, leaving me with no questions. And two days after the appointment, they gave me a call just to make sure he was doing well and didn’t have any bad reactions to the antibiotics. Amazing. After spending hundreds of dollars for both dog and cat, my sister's dog had to go to emergency since it had bloody diarrhea and they needed his history urgently to be able to help him but not only took like an hour to contact them but I had to drive there an personally take the file over to the other vet. Within the hour waiting they hang up the phone Twice to my sister while she was desperately crying on the phone and when I went in they were making fun of her saying how she's very rude and laughing while she was crying next I wanted to speak with the manager or owner not only I had to wait 20 minutes for them to be gossiping but since that place doesn't have sound proof walls I could easily hear them how un respectful and childish they were describing what have happened so here I am dealing with two unprofessional assistance and a doctor or owner who can't even hire the right employees or yet alone keep the place clean, I ended up removing both animals from that place and put them in a place where 100% I would recommend to anyone it's safe and affordable Peterborough Veterinary Services.

We came in to get an initial round of shots for our puppy. The vet asked 2 questions, put a noose-like collar on him, and disappeared for 10 minutes. The receptionist brought our puppy back out and asked how we'd like to pay. For $160, the vet couldn't be bothered to explain the results of his 'examination', or let us know what kind of shot he had and what/when we would need to follow up with the next round. Went to Jackson Creek Animal Hospital for his next round of shots, and they were more than happy to answer all of our questions and concerns.
