Office staff are great. Brought in dog for annual check up and shots. A month later was called back because they hadn't given all the shots. Was told i would need to come back in again and pay for a second examination fee. I asked why they hadn't been done at the same time and was told that the shots were due in different months. When i asked if they could have been done at the same time was told yes they could have but that i hadn't specifically asked for that. I replied that booking for an annual check up and shots should inherently include all shots required that year they disagreed. I concern that having to pay two examination fees within the same season for shots that could have been done at once seemed unusual, as my previous vets had never followed that practice. In the end i was given a small discount to the sexond exam fee, but was still required to pay it. I also explicitly stated to the doctor that in the future i would like all shots to be done at the same time at the same visit. I gave them the benefit of the doubt when i was contacted in the spring to do my annual check up, shots and seasonal meds (heartworm, ticks, etc). I asked the person who took the call if all shots would be done at the time and was told yes. Imagine my concern when somentime later i received a call stating that i needed to come back for additional shots. While I dont have any concerns about the quality of care my dog received at Citigate, I do question why twice i was asked to come back and pay a second exam fee when this has never happened with any other vet and I explicitly expressed my concerns previously. I asked for the doctor to call me so I could discuss the matter with him and did bit receive a call back until August months after my visit and the second phone call from the clinic.

Took my small dog for a second opinion and an estimate for dental work.. saw Dr. Kamat. He was very thorough with his examination of Little Lucy. Gave an estimate of half the amount of our regular Vet. The other staff were also very thorough and professional. All in all a positive experience.

Do not go to CitiGate Animal Hospital. We were misquoted by hundreds of dollars and the owner's reaction was that I am a "scammer" and that there is "no proof of the quoted price". Because his employee failed to give a proper quote and also failed to input said quote into their system, I am a "scammer"... This is not an honest business, they seem to run more like a greasy car dealership from my experience. Response: I can't say I have dealt with a business owner that conducts themselves with such little tact. I could not voice my concern without being interrupted and laughed at. I actually had to ask him to stop interrupting me so that I could explain the situation. I agree that it is regrettable that my wife had already dropped our dog off and signed off on the inflated cost. I don't think she realised that the overall cost had increased by over $200.

I love this place, the staff are so wonderful and the vet is so good with my cat!! I brought my cat here short notice and they were very accommodating and kind. The front desk staff particularly were really fantastic. I like the waiting room (very clean, low couch which is easy to hang out with animals on!). The professionalism was top notch, and the vet must be magical, because he dealt with my stressed out kitty so well. 5/5 will come here again!!

I have been to Citigate Veterinary Hospital several times with my senior cat, Zeezee, and each time was very pleased with the treatment that both her and I received. Dr. Kamat is honest and respectful, and doesn't try to sell you extras such as unnecessary vaccines, or special food provided at their office. As long as Dr Kamat is here, I will be taking my to fur babies to him. He is a wonderful addition to Barrhaven!

This local animal hospital is in it's startup phase (Opened 2018). There is currently one vet working with some front desk staff. Call ahead before dropping in because the vet may not on site even if the office is open. It is conveniently located by Costco in Barrhaven easily accessible by Hwy 416, get off at Fallowfield exit, proceed through traffic lights at Fallowfield and Strandherd. Strandherd starts on other side of lights. I have been using this location to regularly weigh my pet (free service). I have not booked an appointment to meet the vet as of yet. I have, however, bought an Elizabethan Collar (e-collar). Price was reasonable and significantly less expensive than the Rens Pets location near by. Staff are friendly and helpful. Waiting room is open concept and clean. I would like to see perhaps a few dividers or half walls where owners with reactive pets can provide and visual block and physical separation. Algonquin Animal hospital (Baseline Road) has a good example of a half wall divider. If you are location in Barrhaven and looking for a vet check these folks out and post a review.

Brought my 5 month old puppy in for her shots today. They are fantastic with their handling and phenominal safety measures are taken to ensure the safety of you and your pets. They call to update you as the appointment progresses and confer with you befofe going forward with anything (No suprize costs!) My little pup came out happy as could be which is rare for her with new people. That can only tell me they treated her very well and she didnt have a rough time at all. Thank you Citigate for making my baby so comfortable on her first visit!

My little Yorkie Elliot...a rescue...was choking tonight. We rushed to this Vet place because it was so much closer than our regular place.. the door was locked so I called to say my dog is chocking and he needs to be seen. After a few min wait with my dog really struggling and wining and with his eyes watering the lady came and said they couldn't see him because they were closing in 15 min....THEY WERE STILL OPEN and turned away a checking dog. I am now at his usual vet who took him in immediately he was confirmed to be chocking...they are doing an xray to see his throat because they can feel some inflamation and need to be sure he's ok. HORRIBL hateful and cruel business. They should be charged for animal cruelity.

I’m a 16 year old with a cat that I take care of my self. I called to get him neutered and was told it would be around $68 in TOTAL for the console of the neutering. I just got back from the CONSOLE and was charged $455. I’m very mad. I can’t give zero stars but I wish I could.

Horrible! STAY AWAY! I went to get my dog vaccinated and they gave my dog the one year booster instead of the 3 year booster. When I called to ask why did the vet give the one year vs the 3 year the secretary was rude, unprofessional and stated " are you just calling to complain". I simply wanted to just have an understanding and not have a condescending rude conversation. The team is a depiction of the vet.

I call to explain a situation with my pets and the girl on the phone couldnt answer any of my questions, because she said she is not a veterian, and then i ask to talk to one and she said he is not available and then conversation ended without even trying to help me out in any way, customer service very bad !!!!

My dog Chase, an almost 11 year old Yorkie was presenting with a hacking type cough a couple weeks ago and with the results of an X-ray we noticed he had an infection around his lungs as well as a tracheal collapse. Chase also has had a heart murmur which this doctor has now classes as a level 3-4. He was started on an antibiotic as well as an anti inflammatory both fir two weeks. Today was a recheck for Chase. He has remained the same with his symptoms. The doctor will check with internal medicine and decide on which medicine to treat chase with and get back to me.

My husband was in for our dog’s annual vaccines. After last year, we had decided to skip a few optional vaccines and medication. Last year I was with my dog the entire time and we discussed each vaccine and I was informed of the optional ones. This time, my husband was told nothing. They took the dog into a separate room for what I am guessing is the blood test and brought her back to do the vaccine. He didn’t even get a chance to ask for a multiple year rabies shot. I was shocked to receive a $550 vet bill for a chihuahua. We will not be returning here. I found the vet « cold » last year but gave him the benefit of the doubt this year. My husband got the same vibe. I’ll be looking for a new vet.

I can't believe how expensive it was ,just to speak to a vet on phone. Absolutely ludicrous. There needs to be a few changes about it. Do the vet and clerk not go out in public...why can't we come in and wait,makes no sense. My old vet worked with what you could afford, and wish they were closer.

My Dog had his first visit to Citigate animal hospital today for a pre check before his neutering operation next week. Doctor Kamat was very friendly and answered all questions I had. No rush at all. Also very reasonably priced. I used to take my dog to a vet in Gatineau because of pricing but right now I am definitely switching vets.

Update on my review the vet agreed to pay for pre op services at another veterinarian.Thank you it’s very much appreciated!! I would not recommend Citigate Animal Hospital.....ever!!!!!300.00 plus dollars spent for nothing!! We made an appointment to have our dog neutered,explained on the phone that his surgery would not be typical.They assured us they could do the surgery and gave us a rough estimate on the cost. Also explained to the the vet at the the pre op appointment his circumstances.Again the Vet reassured us that the surgery could be done at Citigate.They took blood and did a pre op exam.We then proceeded to make an appointment for his surgery. I stopped by Citigate today (our dogs appointment was this Monday)just to confirm his appointment and the pre op procedures we would follow at home only to discover they cannot do the surgery!!! Paid for pre op check up blood work and they do not do these surgeries!!!Unbelievable!!!Feel like we’ve been scammed!

I wouldn't recommend taking your pets to this clinic. The staff are under trained and lacks knowledge when it comes to documentation. I had a terrible experience coming to this location. I took my cat here for a pre-assessment and left very concerned. After the veterinarian vaccinated my cat the staff gave me a certificate with an expired date for the vials used. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE! When I asked for explanation the staff ran in the back to get another staff member who couldn't explain what happened so the vet came out. I came in during the first week of May and the certificated read Feb 2019! After showing me the vials with the date, I was still skeptical because of the lack of knowledge by the staff. They still tried to give me the same certificate with the expired date written on it! I had to ask TWICE to change the date to the correct date and even told them that's a big no, no for written documents. This is a red flag and I think any pet owner will be very concern about this. Also, they were suppose to call me to follow up after two weeks and they never did! Needless to say, I looked for a reliable and reputable clinic to take my cat. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

For a new pet owner I would be lost without the advise and guidance of this team, they took the time to answer my questions which I have a lot after I have googled looking for answers and to verify what the breeder gave us of advises were the right ones. The vet did a thorough exam and pointed a hernia on my puppy that will hopefully be fixed at the same time of his neuter. One thing that I really liked that I did not feel rushed to do anything, instead the vet decided to do only one vaccine because my baby is too small to handle more than one shot at a time.

The staff are very kind here and Dr. Kamat is knowledgeable and pleasant to speak with. He recommends what is best for your pet but is not pushy about it. The prices here are also very reasonable for the vaccines compared to a lot of other vet clinics in Ottawa. Read a couple bad reviews on here which made me a little sceptical but I am glad I came to CitiGate.
