Both my last dog, Beau Geste O'Mahuna, and my current dog, Taz "Chuffer" McGeek, have been cared for by the excellent staff at BAH over the years, and I'ave always felt very good about taking my beloved canine companions there. The staff are all extremely friendly towards people and their pets, and they always treat their patients with plenty of loving care and attention. When Taz started exhibiting anxiety about veterinary visits, the staff were very supportive of me bringing him in for occasional "social visits," just to help him get over his anxiety. Those extra visits paid off handsomely, since he no longer feels anxious about visiting them; more importantly, it has proven especially helpful now that he's getting on in years, and requires more frequent visits. The doctors are all excellent, very knowledgeable and always up to speed on the latest treatments and medical breakthroughs. One of their doctors even went the extra distance to investigate the potential benefits of treating canine osteoarthritis with fish oil, and recommended the appropriate dosage for Taz, all on his own time! Most importantly, they all have wonderful bedside manners, and are very good at calming and soothing anxious owners just as they do their pets, which certainly earns them top marks with me. I just can't say enough good things about them, especially Dr. Sandoz! (If more human doctors had her bedside manners, we'd all be a lot better off!) Taz will be 10 years as of April 1st, 2015, and thanks to the expert care and extra efforts of all the doctors and staff members at BAH, Taz is easily the most active, fit and energetic "geriatric dog" you're ever likely to see!

as usual the best friendly service you can get--we took our new kitten there last week for his first ever vet appt-the staff kept petting him and let me keep him out of his carrier so i could put the kittenat ease---both of our last pets had their last hour at this vet clinic and we treated with respect and dignity and were allowed as much time with our pet as was needed----we have now made this our permanent vet clinic---hey and the bus stops right outside their door-so our kitten takes the bus to his appts there-hahaha-

We have been customers of Beechwood Animal Hospital since when it was barely a year old, when we got our first cat in 1997. Over the years, they helped us keep several cats healthy, but they also helped when the cats' lives were nearing the end. The prices are very reasonable, and we were never disappointed with the kind, caring, yet professional service we received from both the doctors and staff. Moreover, they never hesitated to refer us to better equipped facilities when it was necessary. They go out of their way to help: During a recent visit, when our kitty managed to poop in his carry cage, they immediately offered to clean the cage without asking, and even provided an absorbent lining for the trip home at no extra charge. They also kindly reminded me of a credit on our account that I long forgot. My only concern would be to not leave pets there overnight as the facility is unsupervised; however, when this was an issue, they readily agreed that we should take the kitty to a 24-hour facility so long as we didn't mind the extra drive and cost. All in all, we are blessed to have such a quality animal hospital just a five-minute drive from our home.

Great place! My two dogs had a dental cleaning with the possibility that one of them could get an extraction : the staff was great, the procedures were very well explained to me and I never felt any pressure to add on (like blood work or X-ray etc)! I received several phone calls through the day to keep me posted on how my puppies were recovering. All in all, it was a great service, as always :)

On May 3rd, I had to say goodbye to my bestest ever friend of almost 16 years. My big, goofy, lives to eat, sleep, walkies, car rides, peeing & pooping machine, B.A.R.K. Black Lab rescue doggie, "Dooley." He had been unwell since May of 2015, but due to an accurate diagnosis and some affordable medications, I think the old boy got another year at life. When I had to let him go, the staff were unbelievably, compassionate, considerate, caring and kind, to him and especially to me. When my time comes, I hope that there will be someone so good to me as the staff and especially Dr. Emily Hines was to my boy. Dooley had a wonderful life and I daresay, a noble trip to the Rainbow Bridge. Dogs are not our whole lives, but they help to make our lives, whole. A more professional staff I doubt can be found anywhere. Thank you, all.

The team at BAH is amazing. They saved our Yorkie's life 5 years ago, and thanks to them, he is 10.5 and thriving. Because of his health complications, I am extremely nervous when I bring him in, but they never make me feel like I am overreacting, or being a burden. You can also tell they love animals so much. They are so kind and gentle with our poor scared pup. This is why when we adopted a little rescue girl, I decided on BAH for her too. Service is great, prices are fair, and we have never been "upsold" anything unnecessary. Thank you BAH!

I had to have my 18 year old cat put to sleep and they were so gentle and sweet with him. A few weeks later I received a lovely condolence card in the mail. Almost got our dog killed due to their incompetence. Better avoid this place. They misdiagnosed our dog which caused him to be in pain and starving for over 5 months. He had a tennis ball stuck in his guts which we told them about. Still they claimed nothing was found in the x-rays. The dog kept vomiting for months unable to process food and his health was rapidly deteriorating. We finally took him to the emergency animal hospital where they immediately detected the foreign object and removed it. Not recommended.

They book too many clients and you're always facing a long wait. And one vet in particular is a very "hard sell" in terms of getting you to agree to expensive services and products that you didn't ask for and aren't necessarily needed. For us, it was a very costly surgery and he was dead-set against us getting a second opinion on whether it was necessary -- if we had to, he said, he'd recommend a second opinion from the guy who would actually be doing/profiting from the surgery. He also performed tests on our animal that we didn't ask for and that weren't needed given we'd been to another vet earlier this year who'd done the very same tests and hadn't found anything unusual in the results. Bizarre. Have had animals and dealt with vets for 30 years and have never faced such a hard sell as I have faced here.

I am really disappointed with the clinic. I tried to get an appointment over the phone my pup had a sprained leg and in excrutiating pain. I needed to get some medicine for him, either a pain killer or an anti-inflammatory. The needs where immediate. I was offered a 4:30 over the phone appointment, but the impossibility to get the required medicine. The attendant was more eager to get my credit card number in order to schedule such appointment, that I refused, it defeated the purpouse of immediate action. I even asked if there was a cancellation, but then told there was a waiting list of over 10 people. Funny I thought, waiting list? Wasn't there an appointment available at 4:30 pm still? They still didn't want to do it, and they probably lied. How can you have still available spaces when there is a 10 people waiting? I have usually been treated very nicely and in a humanae manner, but I feel the attendant Kim was simply reluctant to take an extra step to help, but to charge its fees. Not good!!

Once upon a time I had a feline medical emergency, a nearby vet was too busy for me. So I called Beechwood Animal Hospital. They squeezed us in the same day and I’ve been taking my fur babies there ever since. All the veterinarians and technicians are exemplary. They’re sympathetic, empathetic and true animal lovers. I drive halfway across the city just to go here. I won’t trust my animals with anyone else who herd you through like animal walmart. I can’t say enough good things about this veterinarian clinic and hospital. The last time I was there a patient was crossing the rainbow bridge...it was touching to see even the staff crying. By far, one of the best Vet clinics in town! My wife and I have been taking both of our male cats here over the last 6 years. They're always quick with an appointment. Especially when it came to our youngest cat, Buddy. He was unable to pass urine one Thursday, early January. He was a tough customer, to say the least. Due to financial constraints during the initial visit, we were unable to leave him for observation over the first weekend. Unfortunately, he reblocked within 48 hours. On Monday morning, we called BAH and they asked us to bring him right in. He spent the week with them with use of multiple catheters (he had a tendancy to remove them, despite using the cone) he was finally starting to heal. We took him home at the end of the week for observation again. By Saturday afternoon, he was back at the clinic as he seemed to be straining and very uncomfortable when trying to pee. Dr. O'Meara offered to observe him for the weekend and see how things went. Due to the extreme amount of swelling, he still needed the catheter. By Thursday morning, the attending vet tech caught him pulling the catheter out with his front paws. They decided to leave it out and see how he did. By Friday afternoon he was going to the litter with little to no complication. We refused to give up on our little guy. The entire staff at BAH felt the same about him. He became very comfortable with the staff and he even became a mascot for the clinic. We finally got him home 2 weeks ago. After a regiment of medication and constant monitoring, he is finally starting to use the litter box normally again. A very special thank you to Dr. O'Meara, Dr. Poulin, Dr. Sandoz, Allison, Kim, Tesha and the rest of the team! Every time we called, or came in, we were treated exceptionally well. Update: We were a little early with the celebration. Buddy ended up back at the BAH as he had blocked again. He ended up requiring the P.U. surgery as his urethra was too narrow and a growth had started to form causing a partial block. He had the surgery and 5 weeks later, he is back to his usual self. Once again, a big thank you to the staff at Beechwood!

My cat died there and we still don't know what happen to her. They wanted to do more test (which is pricey) and we ended up paying more than a thousand of dollars for nothing. My cat spent 2 days and a night (with no staff supervising at night). I should have bring her elsewhere but this place was the closest location. The staff is nice but that's about it.

I am so happy to have found this vet. There are not many bunny vets in the area and Dr.Poulin is by far the best! She listened to my concern and treated our bunny with the best course of action for him and the least invasive. When we were brought in to see him after his treatment (teeth nedded to be clipped...he has a serious malocclusion) he was lounging while having his nails trimmed! I'm actually a little disappointed in this animal hospital. I use different vets, depending on who is available, and have found each one to be knowledgeable and friendly. The building is clean, and the location is great for me. However, one of my dogs was bitten by a tick, and I called to ask about getting her tested for Lyme disease. I went in for the appointment and paid the standard $90 to see a vet, only to be told it takes six weeks from the time of a bite to do the test. I would have rescheduled my appointment if that information had of been shared with me. Furthermore, my pup was limping (which was the reason for wanting to do the Lyme treat), but the vet didn't see anything, and I wasn't allowed in the building where I would have been able to point out the exact spot. The limping got worse so I went back three weeks later and paid $750 to have an abscess drained, that had been building up since that first appointment. I know vets are expensive, but after speaking to other dog owners, they've also been unhappy with the prices at this animal hospital.

The service that my faline received was impeccable. The vetternarian, technician, and receptionist where very friendly and accommodating. They where able to handle my extreamly timid girl with ease! The consult was explained in plain English which was very appreciated, and they even included my young daughter in the check up so she knew what was happening and how we can help her at home. Unlike other vetternarians I've dealt with in the past, they don't make you feel like you have to do what they say however they let you know if you choose to they'll be there to help. They will take the time to guide you with programs that can help financially if you need it, and derect you to their sister Hospital incase of an after hour emergency. If I could give zero stars I would. I was going to this office since 2017 with my very anxious dog. He is a difficult dog to deal with and I totally get that. In 2020 Dr. Inkpen recommended he be sedated for all his appointments, we agreed to that and we were able to have successful appointments. Unfortunately Dr. Inkpen wasn’t available for his last appointment so the office booked our dog with Dr. Sandoz. She was not able to have a successful appointment with our dog, she did not follow the usual sedation steps that Dr. Inkpen did with his past appointments. She was extremely rude to me on the phone and said she could do nothing with my dog but then told me she was going to charge me for the appointment. I asked the office for a breakdown and they had an exam fee and technicians time fee, yet no exam was done. The short story is they tried to charge me $200 for an appointment they didn’t end up doing. When I told the office manager that if these were the fees they wanted to charge me for no exam done then I would put in a formal complaint to the College of Veterinarians of Ontario. She emailed me back to say the fees were waived and they were dismissing us from the office. Very shady office, all about charging for something not done until I mentioned I would report them.

Living close to Beechwood we decided to try BAH. Generally speaking, we only took our dog here once/year for her annual meds (heartworm, etc.). That said, each year costs increased exponentially for both the check-up (quick glance over) and the meds. We very recently had a relatively minor issue, however the vet went straight to 'worse-case scenario' before even looking at our dog. After our appt, BAH were to email us a procedure estimate for next steps. Not only was our pet's estimate emailed to someone else, we received another client's pet information as well! After various follow-up calls, they finally sent us the correct documents - with yet another client CC'd. Extremely disappointed in the lack of expertise, class, and professionalism. Needless to say we have since changed vets. (*Note: consult AND same procedural estimate at another reputable animal hospital were literally 50% of what we were charged/quoted from BAH)

We had a very positive experience recently with our puppy whom had to get neutered. The Beechwood Hospital took their time to explain all the available services and options that come with neutering. We did not feel any pressure to include or exclude certain services. In the end of the day we got a treatment that was tailored specifically to our puppy and his needs. The day of the surgery we got excellent service and post-operation monitoring. It was as if our puppy hadn't undergone any surgery at all. Thank you to the wonderful and talented staff.

There is no other animal hospital/clinic that comes close to my experience at Beechwood. The technicians were very kind, understanding and are constantly trying to please everyone , the Doctor I see out does her self. This particular veterinarian appreciates the fact that clients come to her with questions /concerns and ask for her professional opion. But what seals the deal is they "Beachwood/Staff" don't force their views onto you, unless the welfare of the animal is in question then you would expect them to. With that said I would recommend this clinic to everyone. I am a die-hard when it comes to the treatment to my dog/dogs (Alaskan malamute) I do not let anyone mess with my companions, but at Beechwood it is a welcome experience. I would like to THANK the staff there for their hard work, thank you. I live outside the area and continue to go to this clinic 2.5 hour return trip. I intentionally did not mention names because I wouldn't want to forget anyone, I feel I need to mention Dr. Sandoze (hope i spelt that right) and her great expertise, consideration and down to earth attitude. Thanks Beechwood.

My very old dog needs weekly injections and the technicians are all very attentive to his well being. They do the little extras like cleaning his eyes, or clipping some hair, without extra charges. We are welcomed by all the girls who take turns at the counter. Although vetenarian fees are high they try to keep their fees a bit lower than the average pet hospital. The vets are very attentive and caring and they seem to listen.

A few weeks ago, on an early Saturday morning, we noticed our lovely aging German Shepherd had a large lump situated behind her right ear, giving her head a lopsided look. As she seemed lethargic, declining all food and opportunities to explore the outdoors, we decided a vet visit was in order. I called the Beechwood Animal Hospital just before opening hours and left a message. Within 20 minutes I received a professional return call, and they kindly fit a visit with our dog into the day's schedule. At the clinic, the service was excellent, the location was clean and welcoming. Our interactions with the vet were also of high quality. The vet took his time examining our dog, and explaining the issues that could be troubling our ol'gal. He gave us several options and allowed us to choose the approach that fit with our budget and comfortability. Now, after some time of rest and faithful ingestion of medication, our grey-nosed Shepherd is back to her old antics, finding scarce sticks, playing 'keep away' and exploring new smells. This veterinary clinic isn't located in the best location (for me at least, it's 20 minutes away..). That being said it was worth the drive for the savings. Also every one of the staff members that I talked to was super nice, friendly and helpful. My dog had parvo virus and they helped get her back in perfect health. The 2 female doctors I dealt with both were ok with me treating my dog from home and didn't mind that I used some herbal supplements for the dogs immune system. Prices here are very reasonable. Thanks to everyone @ Beechwood, I hope this review helps you get some more exposure.

This vet clinic has always been honest with me about my cats, they give me a cost estimate before doing any additional tests or whatever. We had to put my rat down and they were very considerate. I am unlikely to come back to this clinic. The staff were professional and clear animal lovers; however, I felt pressured into unecessary procedures by the vet. Instead of using her best expertise and judgement, she told me about what 'could' be going on with my pet and recommended a host of expensive procedures, including 'preventative' bloodwork and dental care. I also had to ask twice for her to contact my previous vet to retrieve information that was pertinent to our visit. My pet is in good health and the extra procedure I agreed to (which wasn't disclosed to me as an added procedure/cost) confirmed that. I left with a hefty bill and a dental estimate of $952. Outrageous! I appreciate vet services and understand they are a necessary cost, but I felt like I was being taken for a ride. I expect my vet to use their expertise to make reasonable decisions about my pet's needs, and I will look elsewhere for our next annual visit.

Carolyn Helena · 3 seconds ago I wish I could give no stars but I dont have that option but YOU NEED TO HEAR MY STORY and listen to my words! 8 weeks ago, I took my bengal cat in and she had a scratched cornea. Left with meds and instructions to give for next 7 days. Returned for follow up appointment on Day 8 and vet says the ulcer had healed. No further instructions were given from the vet. On the Sunday that just passed, I noticed that the eye started to flare up. I called the vet on Monday (they were closed on Sunday) o identify a very big concern with her eye and was told I could only get an appointment in 1 week. \in the last 48 hours, \i will describe it like this 'the cornea was melting' off the eye of my cat and that is very serious. I ended up today at the Alta Vista Animal Hospital on Bank Street and had my bengal saw by an opthamologist who indicated that the original injury had not healed. How does the vet at Beechwood Animal Hospital miss this? How are they not concerned enough right alongside me to fit me in for an emergency appointment. When I call from Alta Vista hospital to Beechwood indicating that we were removing the eye, they quoted us a price and said that they could only do the surgery in a few weeks .. with the medical condition of my bengal, her quality of life was rapidly deteriorating. So I plead with you, they are overloaded with animal appointments which means, in my opinion, each animal is not getting the quality care they deserve. How could they miss not seeing that the original injury was not healed. Beechwood Animal Hospital is the reason my cat has only one eye now and I praise the Lord for Alta Vista Hospital and Dr Tinsley and his team saving my bengal. I placed a call to the Office manager, Dawn, at Beechwood, and she exhibited no sympathy, compassion or empathy towards my situation and could not find it in her heart to even say how sorry she was that this happened to our kitty. Furthermore, she tried to justify having Cali wait one week to see the original vet because they were so busy. This demonstrates by Beechwood Animcal Hospital that they had no concern for the quality of life of my cat for a situation to which I identified as urgent and critical. The only thing I can do to try to bring out some good out of this situation is to hopefully prevent this from happening to someone else. Do your homework on your vet hospital and I pray you never experience what I went through today. Please do not bring your pets to Beechnood Animal Hospital.

DO NOT GO FOR FERRET CARE. PLEASE DON'T RISK YOUR BABIES!!!! Staff is very friendly and courteous, but clearly UNEDUCATED on ferrets. Not worth the risk!! They misdiagnosed my 3 1/2 year old baby boy's adrenal disease (yes, the most common ferret illness - in 70% of males over age 3) for an irritation rash that was treated topically over the Christmas holidays. The vet ignored his hair loss, swollen genitals, and frequent urination. Months later I type these symptoms into Google with the addition of sexual aggression and find my real answer - on the Internet. We ended up with a couple thousand in hospital bills to treat an issue that should have been diagnosed in December. Not to mention a very sick and miserable little guy who now beats up his sister to blood. It is a crime to call yourself a doctor without education, and to take advantage of people's vulnerability for their beloved pets. The vet was lovely and kind, but she left my poor ferret suffering. (And still racked up those vet bills, of course. The cream didn't work, so then antibiotics. Which was of course useless.) I knew something was wrong and trusted the vet to provide us with the care she promised. Instead my baby suffered for months. She could have left cancer growing in him for half a year. Please do not make the mistake I did and find a real ferret vet for your babies.

Someone we knew could no longer keep their cat, so we offered to give her s home. No sooner did we agree poor Esme became very ill. She had a very bad infection, it ruptured. We had taken her to the animal hospital and basically she was sent home not expecting to live. Beechwood and their wonderful vets never gave up they saved our Esme. She is in remission, learning how to play and living a full life. She is a very special cat and we are more than grateful. They are been wonderful with all our pets. Brought our beloved 3 year old cat who was sick. They extorted 1000 from us off the top before they would even look at her. We left her there overnight and they called the next morning saying she had to be put down because she was suffering. What we know now is that she could have been saved, it was mild kidney failure; but the Vet just wanted those $$$. I say this because they ran tests on her they knew didnt have anything to do with her illness; they took our money and threw away our cat. These people only want your money. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE.

Beachwood was great for a time. I had been going there for 5+ yrs. Last year I had to put my dog down. They lit their candle but the staff was so disrespectful and loud , laughing as if nothing was happening meanwhile my world , my dog is confused and not medicated enough to go under. I had to ask the vet & vet tech multiple times to do something to help my dog relax for her to be able to cross over. This experienced marked me for life , it's traumatized me.Beechwood broke my trust & broke my heart with the lack of professionalism they showed last year on the 26th of June 2020 @3pm.

Being warned to avoid this vet by many people in the neighbourhood, I went anyway, because of its proximity. After giving them a list of the four things my dog needed, the vet took care of the one most obvious, then disappeared. We spent over an hour in the exam room, my dog seeing the vet for all of five minutes. The front desk girl came to let us know we were done, I questioned her about the other three things required. I was met with a confused look and told they would do it over email. How they plan on doing a yearly exam over email is beyond me. This is a pathetically run business. With a pets health at stake, it is worth a longer drive somewhere else.

Terrible experience. Countless tests and thousands of dollars with no results my cat remained very sick with no diagnosis. Meanwhile they were racking up the bill with stressful teeth cleaning and allergy shots while I just wanted to help my beloved cat. Through another vet he was quickly diagnosed with cancer that had spread everywhere. I don't know how it would be possible to not find this! I wish so much that I had gone to a different vets all along and the end of my cats life had been more peaceful with out all the pointless and traumatic vet visits. I don't care about all the money they bled from me, I just cared about my pet. The atmosphere was rushed and stressful. I would NEVER go to this vet again and have found a wonderful vets where they have time and concern for each client. Please, if something does not feel right with your vet, trust your instinct and go to different one!
