Pretty decent vet, prices seem normal, they offer basically any normal vet service I would need for my dog. They also sell nice products for food and care though I would not claim they're MUCH better than a regular pet store product (if you know what to look for)

Absolutely amazing veterinarian clinic!!! A staff that truly cares about your beloved pets. I've been with them for 6 years and counting, I've never once had a bad experience. My dogs are actually EXCITED to go to the vets, never thought I'd say that. I've tried other local clinics in the past with my past family dog and cats, and those clinics were money hungry and uncaring. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Simcoe Street North Animal Hospital as all employees are honest, approachable, trustworthy, knowledgeable and friendly!! They all have a true passion for animals and have a positive effect on everyone they meet. If you ever run into an emergency they are helpful and experienced!! For those who live West End he also is the same owner as the clinic in Ajax on Salem, so don't stress!!

I have been using this veterinarian for about 6 years now. It is out of the way for me but an uber is only $15. (Compared to $30 taxi) I love dr.Mackerwol (or something like that) always clips my girls nails for me! Decent prices. EDIT TO ADD: I suggest any pet owner who is concerned about cost, or paying upfront before services are performed: to invest in pet insurance, credit cards or both. If you own a pet you WILL have an emergency at one point or another, and these are standard practices.

Definitely a money grab..my sisters dog was on her death bed and they kept doing tests on the dog and charging her $$. as soon as she went to another vet, they knew exactly what was wrong with her.. Staff is pretty friendly and the veterinarian himself is pretty good with our dog, but I truly believe this place is a money grab

They provided updates and explanations along the way to ensure that our worries were eased. We have invested the health of our dogs for the last 16 years. At first, I resented the pressure to upsell procedures and products like heartworm. But after a while I came to understand how deeply Dr. Makowal understood local conditions and his first committment to the animals themselves. He is the real deal. Basically, I have come to trust his insight into the health of our dogs and the balance with which he brings to his practice.

Dr Makowal is very rude and unprofessional. I would not recommend him as a vet. The older receptionist, Jackie, has also been rude to me multiple times. Would not take my pets back to this place.

Dr Baljinder Makowal is amazing. I have NEVER received this level of care and attention at any vet or animal hospital. We had to bring our 12 year old cat in for emergency dental work, after visiting an animal emergency hospital with concerns (out of town where we actually live) The animal hospital said it needed to be dealt with asap, but that they do not do dental work or pull teeth. Which we found very surprising for an emergency hospital. After calling 5 more vets in the area, no one could help until the new year.. suggesting we keep him on a sedative for the months until. This did not sit well with us. I phoned this vet an hour out of our way because my husband's parents used to bring their family dog , and they took us the SAME DAY! Did an exam to ensure it was safe for our cat, found another tooth the emerge didn't find , and had him in and the teeth pulled within 2 days of the call and exam. The level of attention since his surgery has been amazing, with constant check ins and emails to ensure his healing . Highly recommend!

Very caring and knowledgeable vet. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 at the moment you must drop off your pet and wait outside but I have full confidence in their care. Took both of my cats for their annual shots and then extensive dental surgery. Everything went very smoothly with the surgery and I am very grateful for their professional service.

Even though we haven’t been able to enter the clinic since covid, their employee Paige is outstanding and makes us feel more comfortable taking our dogs into the clinic for their appointments knowing she’s their looking after them!

My 17 year old best furry friend recently had dental surgery at simcoe st north animal hospital. I admit I was extremely worried as he had dental surgery in another city when he was younger and had a hard time recovering. . I trusted Dr. Makowal and I am VERY pleased with the service and results! The care was fabulous with professional attention and concern.. Recovery has been quick and with very little discomfort. I seriously hope people stay away from them. I had a horrible experience with my cat having a kidney stone. They charged almost $2000 to put a catheter in! The vet put me in a dire situation stating either do this now or put your cat down. Absolutely mortifying! After I had the procedure done I went for a second opinion and was shocked at other vets in the area saying their costs were around $300. I felt taken advantaged of and they knew I was student. Y'all should be ashamed. Anyone considering them please get second opinions and dont waste your money here.

Great clinic... but I am not understanding why I cannot be in there with my dog and wearing a mask. My dog was in for less then 5 minutes and cost me $350. I never seen the vet and really have no clue what is wrong with my dog... owners wearing a mask should be allowed.

My vaccines used to cost me an average of 350-400 annually for my dog. This year they came out to 650 total. I know pandemic times are tough, but this was ridiculous. Response: I had heartworm and fecal testing done along with the vaccine in the past. The only thing i didnt do before was blood test.
