Very good care with our pets

Jim Carleton

I always appreciate the time and care that Dr. Allin and the rest of the staff provides. I never feel rushed. They are good listeners. All questions are answered expertly and thoroughly. And perhaps most importantly, you can tell they all care deeply about what they do. The plan that Pine Grove has in place during these unprecedented Covid-19 times is excellent. It is very well thought out; providing the best possible care while at the same time ensuring public health safety. Well done!

I have received terrific service from all the staff at Pine Grove. My dog Cooper has to eat special food and the staff at the front always are so helpful in ordering in for us. I have seen two vets at the clinic Dr. Booth and Dr. Allin, both Cooper and I have had a great experience. They are willing to explain everything and there has never been any pressure for additional procedures. A special thanks to Elizabeth who is very helpful and cheery. I recommend Pine Grove to all my family and friends.

Staff are so friendly and kind, the vets are amazing and knowledgeable, the clinic is very clean, and my dogs LOVE going there.

Dr Allin was very caring and supportive, not only to our pet, but to us as well. She took extra time to explain what was going on with our pet and suggested a few options for care. Never did we feel pressured or guilted to choose a path of care we weren’t comfortable with. She made us feel reassured about our choices.

Everyone is very sincere and genuine at Pine Grove. I truly believe they love what they do, and it shows every time we have an appointment. They greet you and your pet as soon as you arrive like you're family. We have always received top notch service from Pine Grove whether it's a regular annual checkup or a more serious concern. I would highly recommend Pine Grove for all your pet care needs.

Pine Grove took amazing care of our dog when she needed surgery. They called to check in throughout her recovery to make sure everything was going smoothly and to answer any questions. Staff are always friendly and kind and always give extra love and pets to out dog!

Take my cat here on a monthly basis to be weighed and purchase food. The staff is very friendly (one of the staff members even makes little complementary toys with cat nip in them) and always offer assistance with carrying the cat food to my vehicle. During an emergency situation they were able to assess, diagnose and treat my little buddy promptly and had him back at home by the end of the day.

Great first visit! Staff and Dr. make a wonderful team. Everything and more I expected from a visit to the vets. Will be transferring the rest of the pet family over to this clinic. Clean, professional, friendly and stress free!

Scott Allin

All staff were fantastic with my 2 golden retrievers. They assisted me while each one of my guys were being examined by the veterinarian. The facility is clean, easy to get to (close to the hwy) and is AAHA accredited. I had an overall great experience!

Friendly staff. Helped us through a very sad day

Sadly I feel like this clinic cares more about making money then helping animals. My dog is on medicine for life , it doesnt improve his condtion but it keeps it from getting worse. They want to see him every month to tell me the same thing I already know! they won't give me his medicine unless I pay for an appointment.

Dr. Allin and the support staff are exemplary in their customer service, kindness, and compassion. I am never solicited for things beyond the needs of my animals and I have received nothing but excellent advice, for 5+ years.

The staff went out of their way to determine the cause of some out of whack bloodwork in a diabetic kitty that is in remission.

I truly trust the staff at Pine Grove. They are really accommodating. Recently my dog had a severe skin rash, flaking and had bumps all over his body. Initially we thought it was food allergy and changed his diet. But no improvement. So we decided to take him to pine. When we called them they said they are fully booked but were able to find a time slot for my baby the next day when I explained to how bad his skin was. They always follow up asking how your pet is doing (sometimes once a week until the medication is done). My baby is feeling so much better and his hair is growing back. They really care for your fur babies.

Very friendly staff and knowledgeable doctors. My dog didn't make it having a heart issue, but they were very gentle and helpful through the process and even sent a beautiful card when she passed. Very thoughtful and friendly people and if I get another dog ill go back.

people seem reasonably nice. Been bringing my dog since fall as he’s 9 years old and have been showing signs of slowing down (hard time getting up and sometimes a slight limp) they started giving us stuff for arthritis which makes sense). Over the next month got worse so I brought him in again. The examined him, did blood tests and urine. Gave more meds for arthritis. Got worse still in December. They said I should leave him for the day to do a more in depth physical exam and x-rays and he will need to be sedated. I also mentioned for them to check if his cruciate ligaments were ok as I knew someone with a very similar issue. They said he had a little arthritis but not much, his ligaments were fineand basically gave more meds. Starting to cost a fortune in medication but if it helps I’m happy. Got him back that afternoon he couldn’t get up. I was concerned but just gave it some time thinking the anesthesia had to wear off. The next day he was almost cripple. I tried to talk to the doctor because I was in a slight panic and wanted to know if there’s something I should know or if it’s possible he sustained an injury and couldn’t talk to the doctor. Only the tech would talk to me and they told me to make an appointment if I’m concerned. After I left an email they finally decided to call me back but couldn’t give much in terms of advice which I understand. They did help me contact an orthopedic surgeon and get an appointment with his for the next week. Had a few extremely worrisome days with a dog that I had to carry everywhere and was really concerned with what was wrong with him. When I got him to the surgeon it took him maybe 10 minutes to realize his ligaments were damaged and he will need surgery. The issue I specifically asked pine grove for. In the meantime I have tons of medications which he likely won’t need. (Some I’ll use) Update. They were gracious enough to provide my dog some prescription medication when I needed it (they did not have to, also did it in less the required time) they also did explain their side of what happened. I still feel that there were things I wasn’t happy with, I feel they focused too much on arthritis when it wasn’t the issue. But I do understand things aren’t always straight forward. I do not believe they deserve only 1 star

Love the people that work there.

An impressively caring and cohesive group of medical professionals that rise to the challenge when things get tough. Our pet's health is uppermost in everyone's mind at Pinegrove, as evidenced by follow-up calls after every treatment. What human doctor's office does that?

Len S

Very friendly personable staff.

I would like to believe that they provide upscale gold standard pet care. Ever since Doctor Booth sold his business to the new owner, it’s just not the same.

Thank you to Dr. Allin and her team! My cat recently became quite ill and they were quick to get in for an appointment. Dr. Allin was very knowledgeable and her and her team showed a lot of kindness and empathy towards us. When you are going through a rough time like that with a pet it is so nice to have such a caring team.

Dr Allin made mistake with my pets medication dosage on more than one occasion. I also had a quote provided for a procedure (due to a previous error by pinegrove) and stillended up paying more than the quote just like Mr dodge in the review below... they will guilt trip you into feeling bad if you decide not to do something they recommend. Pinegrove, Ark and Booth (in Coldwater)all have same owner. Go elsewhere!!

I have been going to Pinegrove over 30 years and my current dog Harry is our 6th. Have seen many changes over the years but our adorable pets have always been given great care. Recently a visit for ear problems and great.

I would highly recommend Pine Grove Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Allin and her staff are caring and very compassionate. Recently my senior dog was having an issue with pain and mobility, a treatment plan has greatly improved my girls quality of life. My younger girl has just had her spay and she has recovered extremely well. I am confident that my pets are in the best of hands with Dr.Allin and her staff.

Pine Grove is able and willing to deal with large dogs, and working dogs not just the miniatures. They are lot more to deal with these working dogs but their staff was very professional and helpful with three large anxious dogs doing what was necessary no fluff, no hard up sale. Highly recommend Pine Grove Veterinary Hospital.

Madeline Andrews

I am very disappointed with the high pressure sales. I felt like I was at a time share meeting. The guilt for not getting his teeth cleaned there for over $1000 every visit. I make it clear every time that I was just wanting to keep up with his regular shots to keep him safe for a kennel and free of ticks. They called and emailed for me to bring in a stool sample which is an add on. They tried to get me to start a new vaccine which I’ve never heard of and not necessary for our dogs lifestyle. They leveraged the funeral home tactics, guilting me by saying if I don’t buy these additional things I don’t love my pet or family. I’ve learned talking to others they own the ARK as well as the vet in Coldwater. We are sourcing a new vet and will sure not to attend these places. I was in for a quick visit for shots and approached by 3 people forcing me to listen to their sales pitch. Other reviews show consistent behaviour more recently. At least the time share sales in Mexico gave me a rental car for a week in reward for listening to their high pressure, multi person sales pitch. They explained how awful the food we are using is. They explained this with out even knowing what dog food what we have switched to. Since we switched from Pine Groves recommended corn dust; our dogs health has improved greatly.

I was impressed by the way Pine Grove adapted to the current social distancing situation and was able to provide excellent service.

Please go Outside of Orillia and save your hard earned money. I believe. Owner is a piece of work. Over billed after saying it would be one price and charged me more. Admitted it was their fault. I said I wanted my money back or would cancel payment. First they offered me half back but then said no. They also wanted over $1800.00 to remove my dogs blind eye or it would be neglect on my part if I said no. We talk to another Vet outside of Orillia an were told it was not needed at this time. Sure looks like another money grab. They own 2 or 3 in Orillia. Please go outside of Orillia for a second option. It will save you hundreds if not thousands.I feel sorry for her staff.

Our dog needed physiotherapy to help her recover from some invasive leg surgery that kept her largely inactive for about four months. Dr. Allin, who is certified in canine rehabilitation, examined her and recommended some exercises to build up her strength and stamina. These have worked well, and we have more good suggestions from a follow-up appointment. We found the veterinarian and her staff both personable and generous with time and assistance. They make it all work very well even with the challenges of Covid.

The most extensive visit ever. Dr. Allin is one of the most thorough educated vet I have ever met. Thank you Doctor.

Just wanted to say that Dr. Allin is great and my pet love her! And I really like all the vet techs except I have an issue with Jason, and I've had this conversation with a friend who has gone to pine grove and he makes me feel uncomfortable with how judgemental he is. My friend mentioned he felt too shamed to even mention the brand of dog food he uses since he was afraid of being judged! When I refused a certain vaccination for a rare virus that he was trying to upsell, his tone and demeanor again made me feel like I was a bad dog parent and quite frankly I don't need to be judged when I'm doing my best to keep care of my beloved doggo!

Hi everybody. I hope you read this review if you want to save your hard earned cash. I have been going to this vet for the last six years begrudgingly and finally had enough after being ripped off time and time again. I learn quickly to ask questions on the spot or you get charged and exuberant amount of money for minor office visits. You will be charged it EVERY visit $105 office visit fee. In December 2020 I brought my dog in for an ear infection and was charged the typical $105 office fee. I had an appointment for a check up two weeks later and asked if I would have to pay the office fee again for the check up and was told that it was part of the original office visit and I would not be charged. On January 11 I returned to have a check up for my dog and felt I needed to confirm confirm with the office staff that I would not be AGAIN charged $105. Sadly I had to do this because I’ve walked out with annual check ups and $600 bills with the comment “thanks for being a responsible dog owner”... The comment back from the administrative staff was that Dr. Allin would never have said that and that I would again have to pay the $105 fee. Not only do I never enjoyed going to visit Dr. Allin because I think she’s a phoney, miserable and rude, and it’s all a money grab at Pine Grove at hospital .... but her bedside manner and making you feel guilty if you don’t do some thing for your animal she thinks you should ... and pay a lot of money for an inoculation for your dog is absolutely ridiculous. I hope that others read this and consider going to a different vet as I’m sure more than many people have had the same experience at i have had and I do feel sorry for the staff having to work with her and the dishonesty she has with customers.

My boyfriend and I have always appreciated Pine Grove. This last visit was amazing. My new kitty, Morris had his first check up @ Pine Grove and I have never had such a relaxed pet as I experienced this time. Thanks to a wonderful team.

We have a dane who had been going to this vet for 4 years. They were a fantastic clinic up until our dog got fixed. Since then, she refuses to enter the clinic and is always nervous with the staff. Most recently, we have been informed of a new costly "testing" via bloodwork (180$....), that our dog has never been requested to complete in her 4 years. When I inquired regarding the bloodwork, the answer that came back was unclear. When we were prompted again to book this bloodwork, I emailed the staff to get another explanation (thinking maybe I misunderstood). Due to our dog's nervous nature at the clinic, we deemed the bloodwork unnecessary for her care and health. Once we realized she had never been prompted for this testing before in any sort of clinic check up, treatment or physical, we declined entirely with our reasoning. We then asked for a re-fill of her flea/tick/heartworm med since she had been seen in the last 6months. We were declined the medication purely based on the fact that we declined unnecessary testing for our pet. The bloodwork was to "check for heartworm", meanwhile her advantage multi would have been a preventative and treatment anyways.. We miss the old ways of this clinic!! It seems that care and courtesy have been misplaced with unnecessary tests and scams.
