Great service Vet is amazing Friendly and patient Nice little house and location
Unhappy with Service, and mishandling/care of my pet. They prescribed the wrong dosage for my pet. Had to put my pet down after that. Also, the waiting room and the vet rooms are small and outdated. Also, their parking lot is not well lite. So when dark, it's hard to see your keys to unlock your car, and I don't feel safe. I highly, do not recommend this Vet!
Everyone is so caring at the Animal Hospital of River Oaks. We've taken our furry family members here for just over 20 years. Our Labrador Retriever loves visiting Dr. Gold and all the staff.
Very good and pet friendly
We love Animal Hospital of River Oaks and Dr Gold. The care our dog (and bird) gets is exceptional! Appointments are easy to make, the staff is awesome and Dr Gold really takes his time and explains all of our options. We have been to many veterinary clinics prior to finding Dr. Gold and his clinic. None compared! I highly recommend them.
We saw Dr.Mac for our 10 weeks lab puppy. There were no air conditioner and it was over 34! We had to wait 20 mins to be seen! Examination room was too small and uncomfortable for both our self and our puppy. She did not examine my puppy well and diognosed our puppy with Hip Dysplasia.( I went to another vet for second opinion because we were about to return our puppy to breeder and to our suprise he said our pupppy is perfectly normal and happy). She gave our puppy Rabies vacsin which should be given to puppies older than 12 weeks! I wish insted of convincing pepole to buy insurance she spend more time on making puppy comfortable and examining well.
The best vet, care for all his furry patients and feather ones too.
A highly distressing and ultimately surreal experience. I'd like to specify this review is about Dr. Lorie Gold (the clinic's owner) and that the rest of the staff seemed like normal empathetic people. I went in to give my cat a peaceful end. Initially Lorie Gold came off as kind and accommodating. He walked me through the process, sedated her, and was getting ready to do the euthanization. As he grasped her paw to shave it she released her claws. They snagged him. His reaction to this seemed dramatic. He looked super annoyed and upset. He grabbed some nail clippers and I immediately said "we tried to clip her nails a few weeks ago and she freaked out." He ignored me and proceeded to try and clip them. I said again "she's going to freak out." He continued. My cat, although sedated, mustered up some feeble strength and nipped him. He took a huge step back, looked at me and said "MY LIFE IS NOW IN DANGER. I have to report this to the government so they can do a rabies investigation. It's likely you'll be fined. They'll be calling you." I'm serious. I'm not being hyperbolic. He actually said this. Things to keep in mind: 1. he read my cat's emergency clinic report from a week back when her problems were initially checked out. Quite sure they would have noticed rabies. 2. he knew that my cat hasn't been outside since last summer and that even then she stays on a raised deck 3. he knew that my cat freaks out if her nails are touched. why not do the injection elsewhere? he stated this was an option during my briefing of the procedure. nope, he kept grabbing her paw and persisting even after she reacted. 4. I've been bitten by a wild animal in Halton. I went to the hospital to get a rabies check and they laughed at me and sent me home saying there's no rabies in this area. 5. I've volunteered for years at the human society and have had cats give birth in my home, had cats scratch me and bite me (quite severely at times) and rabies wasn't ever a concern or even mentioned. 6. If you're a seasoned vet who is this concerned about rabies, why not WEAR GLOVES? I understand there are laws in place to protect people, but there is also a thing called common sense. Fine do a report, but maybe wait till after the procedure to lecture me about it? Or again, prevent this from happening by LISTENING to your client and/or wearing gloves. It gets worse. He grabbed her paw AGAIN to shave it for the needle. My cat gasped, her head smashed on the table, limp. She stopped breathing completely (this was obvious because her lungs had water around them and her breathing was incredibly heavy). She looked completely dead, like he shocked and scared her into passing out. I start balling my eyes out because this is NOT a peaceful death. He says her heart is still beating and euthanizes her with my consent (he said she might wake up...). I ran out the room, I paid, and I just wanted to get out of there. He followed me and kept lecturing me about this investigation and how serious it is. I'm also told that I am not able to take her body home AND her body will now be mutilated due to the autopsy they have to preform. I go home and he calls to offer me a free cremation and an apology. He said something like "the important thing is she's not suffering anymore." Sure, except she died scared, shocked, and angry because a seasoned vet refused to listen to my warning, refused to wear gloves, and didn't think of trying a different spot for the injection. Lorie Gold was thorough and attentive only when it came to his own "safety." My cat died in distress and her body had to be mutilated and kept at the clinic for a week due to his complete disregard of my instructions and lack of ability to observe the world around him and react accordingly. One last thing. No one from the investigation called me. I guess they didn't take his concern seriously either.
Dr Gold and his team have been taking great care of our cats. Very informative and detailed.
Vet to 4 Of my pets now and we're always happy with them. Very knowledgable and caring vet and staff.
I needed my Malamutes claws trimmed and her usual trimmer refused ...I took her to the vet here and he did it with out even an appointment .
We know are well cared for every yome we visit.
I have been bringing my pets to Dr. Gold since I was a kid myself. He has cared for each one of my pets with tremendous compassion and has helped me through the day to day stuff, as well as through the tougher times. The staff here are also amazing! They truly get to know the clients (human and non) and work with you to make sure that your pet is always getting the right care. Five stars (PLUS!) across the board *****
The atmosphere is lively and the receptionists are amazing. The vets are impeccable and place is always VERY clean and organized. The team works really well together to give their clients only the best to offer.
We have been bringing our furry friends to Dr. Gold for close to 30 years now. He has always been caring, understanding and very professional. We trust Dr. Gold's advice implicitly. We feel that our pets are in the best of hands when they are with him. The staff at the clinic is exceptional too - - always friendly and helpful. Our cats have also boarded at the clinic and they were always happy to be there. We can highly recommend the Animal Hospital of River Oaks.
The Best dr
Staff are super friendly and happy to help! Dr. Gold treats your pet as if its his own and provides wonderful and patient care. My pup is shy and anxious and he does great with Dr. Gold! We have been at this vet since I was child with my childhood dogs and I was eager to bring my new pup to here!
In addition to providing the highest quality of pet care the team at The Animal Hospital really understand and respect the relationships between people and their animals.
You will find no better care -- from anyone -- than from Dr. Gold. He listens and learns. He prepares for your appointment by looking back on his notes from your pet's case history. He gives you all the time you need, which means you may have to wait a bit. The wait is well worth it; it's because he's giving the superb care you will receive. Today was his day off, and he came in from his holiday to give me the great gift of seeing my dog safely home, after a take-all-the-time-you-need consultation and thorough review of all options. He could have made a lot of money today, instead, he just helped me. After three pets, cradle to grave, I could have no more respect for any practitioner. I am so grateful for his care over 34 years.
Best staff and vet around! If only my dog liked it as much as we do hahaha
Nice people nice place thank you
Been going here for as long as we have been in Ontario. Dr. Gold is wonderful and the vet techs care so much about each and every animal.
Dr. Gold and all of the staff at the Animal Hospital of River Oaks are fantastic. We completely trust the wellbeing of our puppy to this team and would highly recommend them to everybody.
I had an amazing experience at Animal Hospital Of River Oaks. Dr Lorie Gold and his staff care for their customers and pets. My bird and I were treated with great care and concern, Dr Lorie did a fantastic job at taking care of my birds foot injury. I would recommend this place to any person who loves their pet.
Great veterinarian, highly experienced and kind. Friendly staff, welcoming, located on a lot surrounded by nature. Highly recommended.
Caring staff
Thorough veterinarian service, dogs are treated well.
I think I just decided to walk into this hospital, ever since I moved to Oakville. Mainly because how building looks like. It's nice small, white, very classic looking building surrounded by big trees. Staff members are very friendly, my cat is seeing Dr.Mac and she's great. They discovered thyroid issue, and helped my cat on that with medication.
Always going over and beyond for our dog. Best Vetsbin town! Highly recommend!
Our dog came up lame and could not walk. We went to a vet who diagnosed an injured rear leg. After three weeks there was no improvement so a kind friend suggested Dr. Gold. We met Dr. Gold and he examined "Roo". He immediately said "this dog doesn't have an injury, this is neurological" He immediately called a local emergency neurologist and we drove our dog there. Within the day we had a diagnosis and we picked up our dog the next day fully recovered. Dr. Gold is now our vet. I trust him implicitly. He is kind and obviously talented. Thanks Doc, we got our dog back!
Moved to Oakville 6 years ago and have had a wonderful experience with the Animal Hospital of River Oaks. The vets are knowledgeable, up-to-date and so very patient and kind with our pets. The staff are amazing with animals...not just a job, but a passion. They go above-and-beyond interacting with my dog and cat when they are boarded. Feel like family.
I'm so pleased to review Dr. Mac & Dr. Gold. We've been clients of the clinic for close to 30 years and have had wonderful care in all those years. There have been routine exams, surgeries, visits just to get the dogs used to going to a vet and end-of-life care. Our experiences have always been compassionate, educational and never rushed. Now we have had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Mac into the clinic family. First, we had a new rescue that is only comfortable around women and luckily Dr. Mac started that day. It worked out so well. Then our black lab was experiencing awful allergies. He was one itchy dog. After a while of seeing Dr. Mac she has got him virtually itch-free and one happy puppy-like nine-year-old dog!! Recently he had developed a large haematoma on his ear and she did such precision surgery that his ear has healed beautifully and you'd never know he'd had a problem. The office staff deserves a shout-out too for their professional care and fun-loving nature. It's a down-to-earth environment with real people who really care.
All I want to say is that just about every clinic nowadays has sweet and friendly and courteous staff - but to me professionalism is what makes a clinic distinguished. Dr Mac is a real virtuoso in surgery as well as walking-talking encyclopedia. The way she put my dog's ear back together after it was ripped by a creature was wow; and removed a big growth on his side pulling tissue to fill gaps etc.. she could be a great plastic surgeon. This is my statement after more than 40 years of owning dogs and dealing with vets... All recommendations make a lot of sense and work and yes, the staff is exceptionally nice. 10 out of 10.
Dr. Gold is amazing, and so is his staff! If you want compassionate, quality, modern veterinary care, you really do want to call the Animal Hospital of River Oaks. I love their Facebook page, as well.
Great service! Dr Gold and his staff are amazing. They are all friendly and welcoming. The clinic is very peaceful and I highly recommend coming here. My cat had bad dental disease and after her surgery with Dr Gold she is recovering well
Best VET experience in Canada. Vet was amazing, he answered all questions, provided all possible information and more. Beside that other staff was really helpful. Prices are as everywhere in GTA.
Great place, Oscars loves it and he feels like home :)
Great vet practice. Took our big dog there her entire life and she lived to be almost 15. Now I take both of my little chihuahuas there and I am very happy.
You will never find a better vet than Dr. Gold! Always has time to discuss your pets problems. We are on our third dog ???? and only have the highest amount of praise for Dr. Gold!
Dr Gold has lovingly looked after a cherished member of our family, a 22 lb Bichon-Poodle named Oatemeal, with love and care, for years. When there was an emergency he always squeezed us in. He has always been there for us and Oatmeal. He understands what our pets mean to us. When we would need to go away and board Oatmeal, Dr. Gold and his staff are the the only ones we trust. Dr. Gold and his team have set the benchmark for animal care! A truly cohesive team that have an enormous love for animals. Exceptionally accommodating, compassionate and truly focused on the well being of our puppy and his never ending issues ;) Thank you to the team! Kudos to the great work that you do. Matthew and Melissa
Hands down always the best loving care of all of our pets needs. Staff is amazing and Dr Gold treats all our pets as if they were his own. Our pets are family thank you for all you do Dr Gold and Staff
Dr Gold and team have provided us with personalized professional care over the past 10+ years. I would describe it as cozy and caring. Definitely recommend them!
We have taken our pets to several clinics over the years. Unfortunately one of our fur babies has developed a seizure disorder, so I looked at ratings just like these to find the best place to bring him. Dr. Mac is kind, compassionate, and understanding. She is well informed and has been calling to check up on him and work with us to find an optimal dosage of medication for Steve. I would recommend this practice to anyone looking for excellent care.
Have both my boys (2 cats) registered here and the staff is fanominal!
Not a fancy place, but Dr. Gold (and newly arrived Dr. Mac) are both tremendous vets. The price is reasonable, the quality of care is beond comparison, and the front-office staff are friendly and helpful.
Very very accommodating!!!Great service excellent hospital..
I'm sure even the animals realize and understand they are getting the best care.
Always great service. I love that everyone there really cares about the pets they are helping.
I got called by this place not long ago (not sure who was on the phone, it was a male voice) and it was a wrong number on their part. I was confused by the call, and said "okay??" to the person asking me about a dog outside, and then I said "I think you have the wrong number," and then the person passive aggressively told me that I should have said that in the first place. Ummm? Unprofessional much? Don't tell me how I "should" have answered the phone, when you're the one calling me from an animal hospital. I have pets, and I've been in the river oaks area, so I was a little concerned hearing back from an animal hospital but then was relieved it wasn't related to my pets and told them it was the wrong number. So rude. Haven't been to this location before, but you bet I never will go now.
If you are looking for a great Vet..Dr Gold and his staff are great and care about your pet and family.
When I moved to Oakville I went to a different vet. My dog received an injection and couldn’t walk. I found the Animal Hospital of River Oaks and have been very pleased. Very knowledgeable, professional and friendly I have never left the office not fully informed on my dog’s health. They have gone through puppy hood right through the mourning process of losing a loved pet. If you truly care about your pet, I highly recommend the Animal Hospital of River Oaks.
