I moved to Toronto 5 years ago so switched vet clinics to a more local one for convenience, but missed the professionalism, quality and care provided by the Animal Hospital of Oakville so much, that I switched back, and make the commute from Toronto - Oakville when my pets needs the vet. As a lifelong pet owner, they are *by far* the best vet clinic I have ever dealt with, and would recommend them without hesitation, to any other pet owners. All of the vets have been fantastic, but a special thanks to Dr Allum, who was fantastic when my dog went through a couple of unusual health concerns. I can’t thank her enough.

We have been taking our dogs to the Animal Hospital of Oakville for approximately 7 years now and we have found the veterinary and support staff to be unusually helpful and caring. They make a tremendous effort to anticipate the needs of our two very aged dogs and that of our younger dog. They offer information, solutions and creative suggestions for their care. As dog owners for many decades now, we have naturally encountered several vet clinics over the years, and they are all filled with caring and knowledgeable staff, however we have found that this clinic is unusually good. There is professionalism, sensitivity and humour at this clinic. Our dogs have also stayed at their kennel and received excellent care. We recommend them highly.

Dr Best is by far the BEST vet I have ever met. We had an emergency, our dog became very ill very quickly. Within a week he went from being a spunky happy pooch to very lethargic and ill. It was a Friday night and Dr Best saw our dog right away. Just by looking at him she filled us in on what could potentially be wrong with him. She stayed later than her hours of operation to see our dog. That evening she prescribed medication to ease his pain. The next day (even though there are no appointments on Saturdays) she saw us again first thing to run more tests.Within 3 hours we knew what was wrong. She is brilliantly wonderful. She followed up with us to make sure he was ok. Even went as far to answer my phone calls when I had questions periodically. Unfortunately we lost our dog and there was really nothing she could have done to save him. I wish that she was the first vet we ever took him to. Now I will know for next time. Please, if you ever want a vet you can trust that absolutely loves animals and isn't working just for the money please see Dr. Best. I'm writing this after my most recent experience with this clinic, which was my 6th or so visit. I held them in very high regard. Unfortunately they have some receptionists that are incredibly unprofessional who lied and hung up on my partner and our insurance company (who my partner happens to work for). The veterinarians are largely fine, I haven't had an issue with them other than them waving off our issues with their staff as a non-problem. Our dog was not walked while he was there for an entire day, as he was literally leaking excrement on our way out of the door. We have requested our records and will be going to another clinic in the future. Its too bad that the 1 or 2 secretaries (the short one with glasses and the older one) have managed to ruin the clinic in our eyes.

Animal Hospital of Oakville was recommended to me by a friend when I got my rescue dog 3 years ago. Since then, I've taken both my rescues there and have received excellent service every time. Both Dr Janice de St. Croix and Dr Meredith Allum have been actively engaged and invested in my pets' wellbeing, asking about how things were going and being sensitive to my dogs' needs (one is a dog-reactive GSD and the other is a Belgian Malinois who gets scared in the vets office). They have been nothing but understanding, kind, empathetic, and so professional. The office staff have always been kind and courteous. Recently, because of COVID-19 I found myself stuck 5 hours north of the city in an area with few vets that were open. I ran out of medication for my dog and made a few panicked calls once I realized that vets were not as available up here as they were in the city-- and despite having 19 other prescriptions to fill and me not giving much notice, the office staff at Animal Hospital of Oakville had the prescription sent to the other vet and I was picking it up 15 minutes after I called! I truly appreciate such excellent service in such challenging times. It just goes to show how much everyone at AHO cares about their clients.

Just met the most ignorant person at reception. I was just looking to buy canned dog food which I have done at this location twice previously. I couldn't remember the brand which apparently is a no no here. She was condescending, obstructive and belittling. The previous employees I dealt with seem to have no issues grabbing a half dozen cans of dietary food for me. Sad this one person has ruined my experience. I will never return.

Very expensive and incompetent veterinarians, I spent 300 dlls in lab tests for my puppy and they couldn't diagnose my dog, I went to an other place and for 80 dlls they healed my puppy without any lab tests I just answered a few questions and that was all. They just want as much money as possible.

Excellent care and staff. We've co.e for about 8-10 years, with my dog for the last few years of his life and then our cat who we got just after, who we've now had for four years. When we had to put our dog down, they were so kind and courteous and they made an awful time more bearable. With our cat now, she is a little bit difficult because she doesn't like being at the vet. They are able to handle her and give her great care despite her giving them a hard time. Highly recommend!

Honestly, I'd never take my dog's here again. The veterinarians are good and kind but that's not the problem. I've spent thousands of dollars on my dogs at this place in the last year (I'm a breeder) and I took my puppy in because she has a lump the other day and they are 20 minutes late to see me (as usual) and charged me $82 to look at her for 5 minutes. Of course the lump is nothing but they would look at the cells under a microscope if I'd like for another $40. Also they try and peddle the food they have lining their walls as if it's manna from heaven. The ingredients you might ask? CORN. I'm not gonna get into why that is bad for dogs but anyone who can think realizes it's a cheap filler and shouldn't be the first ingredient in a carnivores diet. I don't need a verternarian degree to understand this. They make huge money off it and that's the end of it.

She is caring and compassionate and very honest at the same time. I had to put my sweet dear Honey down and she was very supportive throughout this difficult journey. The admin staff also stand out as they are very professional and very helpful as well. The tech staff are also great with answering questions in addition. Overall my experience with this clinic has been very positive.

We have brought all of our fur babies here for everything from check-ups to colds to pain and we have seen a couple of different vets but that doesn't matter because they have all been fantastic. We never have trouble beeing seen even on short notice. I love that they don't try to push prescription foods: our dog is on raw and they don't try to switch him like other places have done. My dog has been having issues with her stomach for months now and many vets, including the one she goes to, are out of stock of the particular type of food she can eat that doesn't upset her. After calling around to almost all vets in Oakville, this one had the food but REFUSED to sell it to me bc we didn't take our dog there. I tried explaining that we only needed about 6 cans (on top of the 2 we had stashed in case of this kind of emergency) to get her through this current stomach issue she was having but they told me that they will only sell it to their clients. They didn't offer to order us any, they didn't offer any help at all. The lack of compassion is astounding to me and to be honest, a bit sickening. These pets are like our children and when they get sick, it's upsetting to see them suffer. These issues with her stomach pop up out of nowhere and have happened before, but unfortunately, there's no way to know when it'll happen again but we do our best to be prepared. Rather than sell me a measly 6 cans, they rather see my dog be put in emerg again. Bravo Animal Hospital of Oakville for having no heart at all.

Animal Hospital of Oakville has saved our English Bulldog's life on multiple occasions. They provided him with first class care and helped us in a pinch. I have never had such a good experience at the vet. I am a late 20's male who gained a companion in my dog, Luna. Luna has always been treated fantastic when she stops in to the vet. No matter which Doctor I have seen, every single one is willing to spend that extra five minutes to emphasize the details of new care for my dog, or just general information. I've even called with ridiculous questions and they hold back from laughing. Let's be real though, there are no dumb questions when it comes to loving your pet, and they understand that. Not only that, but they have even worked with me to make my visit as affordable as possible. I would not have my dog in any other hands, with any other people. Thank you for all you do, ladies.

I've had the worst customer service experience here at this vet. One particular client service representative: Samantha Day was rude, condescending and unprofessional. She had to snatch the paper away when I asked to speak with the vet to further clarify the bill and afterwards she had to roll her eyes slowly and give a dirty look. This kind of unprofessionalism appears quite common with all the other reviews that have pointed to the same thing, which is unprofessional staff. For a vet to operate, at least the most basic thing for running any business is to be friendly and understanding upfront instead of being rude and disrespectful. Without a doubt, never would I recommend this vet with staff, who are so disrespectful to friends or anyone let alone. Please do not tell me to contact your customer service number, as a simple insincere apology is the last thing I want to hear.

My pets have been cared for by Dr. Best and her associates for the past 25 years. I met Dr. Best when I first moved to Oakville in 1987 and took my dog and soon after kitten to her clinic. I have been very blessed that all 3 of my pets have lived long and healthy lives. 2 dogs lived for 16+ years and our cat 22 years. When it was necessary, due to old age and a failing body, Dr. Best assisted in their final sleep. It was very traumatic for us, however Dr. Best handled the situation with compassion and empathy and reduced our distress to tolerable. Words cannot express the gratitude we have for all the care she and her associates have provided through the many years. I highly recommend Animal Hospital of Oakville for all your pet's care.

Just stay away. They won't sell you pet medicine and will lie that it needs prescription. When you buy same medicine without prescription from a real pharmacy, they will just say "eventually we decide who to sell". WTF.

As a long standing client of this hospital with two dogs of my own and a third in the family, I was shocked at the negative customer service experience I received today. After voicing my dissatisfaction with the service to one of the owners, the response given was “you people” followed by a long winded tangent on the vets father and other members of her family’s risk of being exposed to Covid working in the front line (completely unrelated to my complaint) and how I am “lucky” to bring my dogs into their clinic followed by telling me not to bother coming back. This behaviour is highly unprofessional. I’ve never been referred to as “you people” before and find it incredibly insulting. One of my dogs is a frequent flyer at this hospital and I would bring her in every six weeks. I can honestly say after my experience today this place is just about getting paid and has no appreciation or respect for loyal clients. How shortsighted can you be?! As an owner shame on you and for the record Dr. Burrows, you were lucky to have my business. I hope those reading this think twice about bringing their pets here.

Recently when Molly became critically ill they all tried their best to keep her with us a little bit longer. Sadly it was not to be and we had to let her go. Would give a zero rating if I could for this bad clinic. They're all about the money at this place. This clinic mismanaged my dog's diabetes. Two doctors specifically, Dugan and Neuman. Our last visit there, Neuman knew that our dog needed to go to the emergency for a severe case of DKA and panceatits but chose to try and treat our dog knowing that the limited time the clinic was open wouldn't be sufficient. She should have just said take your or dog to the emergency as we cant fully treat him here based on his needs. But instead we got stuck with an $800 bill for partial treatment and still had to take him to the emergency anways - complete incompetence and greed. My wife and I respectfully voiced our displeasure , paid the bill and left. They had the nerve to send us a letter saying that we should find another vet we feel more confident with. WTF?!?!?! Don't bother with this clinic. My dog almost died there under their care, and if you care about your pet, take them somewhere else.
