Horrible horrible animal hospital. Will never recommend them to anyone. Had an emergency situation with my 6 week old kitten, he was getting sick, and we almost lost him. Talked to the vet on the phone and he tried to tell me that my cat ate cannabis or got into open liquor, and that it was possible we had poisoned him !!! We are non smokers and do not drink in this house. Said he wouldn't even treat our baby until I gave him $185 to even get through the door! Started asking personal questions like names and ages of the people living here...absolutely disrespectful. They should be ashamed of themselves. On a brighter note, it turns out our kitty just had low blood sugar, and because we rescued him before 8 weeks, he was still very dependent on mothers milk. 1 week of syringe feeding milk replacer and sugar water and he is now healthier than ever. St.Mary's this was not a shining moment for you , and I will not soon forget your LACK of hospitality. And as you can see in thier comment below, My being angry about them asking me if I smoked Marijuana and leaving out open alcohol and asking personal questions....they apparently think they have the right to assume "what kind of person i am". This place is a laugh.

They always treat my animals with care. They are quick to get an appointment with and they aren't overly priced. They will encourage you to buy their products in store however they do not make you feel bad or hold it against you, if you do not. They really put the animal's best interest first.

Without a doubt this is the best animal hospital in the Windsor area (I've been to them all). They are much more attentive and caring than the others. Also the people here are very friendly and informative. They took the time to explain everything in detail, and made my cat much healthier and happier. You wont get just another temporary and expensive solution with this animal hospital, you'll get a long-term solution and a better quality of life for your pet. Very much recommended!

Drs John and Rita are truly wonderful people. You can tell with the compassion and caring they show their furry patients and parents. Our 10 year old lab (Cocoa) had 2 lumps removed in November, which should have only taken a couple of weeks to heal after her surgery but unfortunately she wouldn’t leave the stitches alone in her leg. After Cocoa removed the stitches for the 2nd time, John and Rita suggested an alternative to stitches, it would require more visits to the office but was confident it would work….and it did! By New Year’s I had my walking partner back, without breaking the bank. I highly recommend Saint Mary’s to everyone!!!

The female owner of this Clinic was extremely rude to me on the phone. I was explaining that I wasn't able to keep my dog on a certain medication because of its expense. She was very rude in telling me that my dog should never have been taken off of it in the first place. I mean, I already feel bad enough about this. I told her that my dog's well-being is very important to me, but that my two children have to come first and that i was hoping to get him back on the medication. She talked over me. l was calling because wanted i wanted to fill a prescription, but she wanted to give me the third degree about not keeping the dog on constant medication. In the end, she told me to find another vet. Little did she know that I was only too happy to. I would not recommend.

I have nothing but positive things to say about the quality of care Saint Mary’s animal hospital team provides. I apologize for the novel but here is my story: My boyfriend and I had been having problems with my cat Martin for close to a year. He would not use his litter box for pee or poo at all. He used to. Then he stopped between ages 2-3years. I took him to at least two different vets in Halifax. No one was willing to put effort in to help. After close to a year Martin started to pee blood. We continued to see other vets. They did urine tests. They suggested (and we bought) stress spray. We had him on multiple medications. Finally someone recommended Saint Mary’s Animal Hospital and it was the answer we needed. He listened and actually heard me. I was at my wits end after putting literally thousands of dollars into trying to fix my poor kitty. And he heard me. He did an X-ray and we found Martin was insanely constipated. Which in turn pressed on his urinary tract. We fixed that which seemed to semi fix the problem but still not. So he suggested Martin may be stressed/depressed and we put him on medication for that and Horay!! Martin now uses his litter box all the time. He has only had one or two accidents in the past few months. And- with the amazing quality care they gave for Martin- I called them 10 minutes prior to closing time. They not only answered the phone but he stayed on the phone until we came to a solution regarding an injured hamster (broken tooth). Not too many other vets care like that. Most would ignore the phone at 10 minutes to close. Honestly they are my hero. They are kind, compassionate, and affordable! So much to the point that I drive all the way to them from Halifax just because I know they have my pets best interest and well being in mind. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

These people are absolutely incredible, and go above and beyond to help their patients. Our 3 month old dog grabbed a packet of pool chemicals out of my hand, and got some into his mouth. Within minutes, we were speaking with staff, and had a recommendation from the doctor immediately. Understanding that we’re half an hour away, he walked us through in detail how to flush the chemicals, and talked us through a mixture we could make at home to help begin the healing process. Not only that, he called shortly after to provide his cell phone number, and asked us to please send him pictures, videos, and updates regularly. He kept in constant communication with us the whole time. To take this even further - he’s only met our dog once. We became patients for the first time, after just moving into the area, for his most recent shots. He’s only barely met us and our pet, and his dedication to us far exceeds that of any other vet we’ve ever worked with. We can’t recommend him enough.

Saint Mary's has been our vet of choice for years. They have sold us flea meds and wormer and the usual stuff. But they have also come in, at night, on a long weekend, performing emergency surgery to save my dog's life. They have fit us in several times for same day appointments when one of our critters got sick really fast. They take our phone calls for advice to make the best decisions for our crew. But beyond that, I believe they actually care about what they are doing and who they are doing it for. They show huge compassion for our critters when they were hurt, sick, or scared. They have also shown huge compassion for our human family members who were upset and scared for a sick or hurt pet. Vets cost money, but it pays to have a vet who knows exactly who you are and who your calling about. All I have to do is say Hi, it's Rachel, Finn's mom and they know my whole crew, both the two legged and four legged. We are very grateful to have such a resource, especially in emergent situations.

If there were more stars I would definately be giving them to Saint Mary's! They went above and beyond for our cat Hunter when he was sick. It took a few trips into see John but he finally figured out what was wrong with him. I should mention that Hunter was pretty much on his death bed, hadn't eaten or drank water for 6 days. John was so good with him and with us, he texted me and called me several times a day to see how we were doing and I am certain he did not charge me for everything! Thank you so much Rita and John!

I have never actually have had Direct interaction with this Animal Hospital. However I do live in the town, and have heard several horror stories from several animal owners in the area. To the point where we would not take our pets to this Animal Hospital instead we chose a different one in the local area who have been fantastic. Reading through the reviews, there does seem to be an alarming Trend with this Veterinary Clinic, you seem to either have a very positive experience or an extremely negative one. And the owner seemed quite defensive and willing to call out people on the reviews and post private and confidential information.

I brought my mothers cat to the St Mary's Animal Hospital as she was extremely sick. I must say that when I was told that Freckles may not survive I was devastated. I advised my mother and we made "plans". Freckles had to stay at the hospital and on the second day, she started to improve by the evening she was ready to come home. I don't know what they did but they saved her life. Freckles will always have her problems but we know know what to feed her and what signs to look for. Thanks to St.Mary's Animal Hospital my Moms beautiful Freckles gets to enjoy her life, again.

We have uses St Mary's hospital for many years. Since they first opened. They know me by name, and have always been wonderful. They have helped us with our dogs even past office hours. Our dogs have had surgeries with them and they have always recovered very well, and have been well cared for. Most recently we lost our beautiful girl to a suspected brain tumour. Saint marys has been our vet for about 4 years now.. we recently had some health issues with our boy and sadly ended up having to put him to rest. They were so helpful during the whole ordeal, taking calls late at night after hours, taking us in asap no questions asked. THE BEST MOST AFFORDABLE VET WELL WORTH THE TRIP TO WINDSOR AND WE LIVE IN HALIFAX. Vets here just keep charging us and not fixing the problem Our cat started peeing on the floor every day and he was a 3 yo cat very healthy and we took him to 2 different vets in Halifax and none of them helped us. This vet went above and beyond on tests that were very affordable and he figured out the problem. And since we started him on these meds he has been going in his box ever since. apparently he was stressed and or depressed and also very constipated causing him to be scared to use the bathroom. lol AND.......not to mention now they answered their phone 10 mins before close time and helped us over the phone with our ???? hamster who hurt his tooth.

After having two terrible experiences at what I can only say is a corporate run vet locally I gave Saint Marys a try for my young dog. He was able to diagnose and give options without running needless tests! I have never had a vet make me feel like I had a choice in the care and the options/outcomes. We have taken all our cats to the same Vet Clinic since we moved here 7 years ago. Some had chronic illnesses so we had frequent trips to the Clinic. Our 15 year old diabetic cat needed an emergency visit and the clinic would not see her until the next day. I called Saint Mary Animal Hospital hoping they could help our cat and they would see her in half an hour. Dr Sawires treated our cat. He was very professional and through and even though he was still treating her after normal clinic hours he did not rush. You can certainly tell that your pet's best interest is his only concern. All of our cats will now be patients of Saint Mary Animal Hospital. Thank you so much for your wonderful care of our cat.

Took our 19 yr old cat. It was a bad experience for both my cat and my husband. My poor cat ended up biting her own toung and loosing 3 claws we have never had people handle our animal so poorly. Called back a week later to get a perception and got told I couldn't then changed to I could but pay $15. No problem but I had them send her file to Richardson's animal hospital in Sackville. Never again don't go not worth it for you or your animal.

Absolutely terrible, I wouldn't tell my worst enemy to take their pet here! Took my dog in with an emergency they looked her over decided she would need a shot of sedative brought me a paper to sign with what they told me the price would be, afterwards it was almost $125 more than my quoted price. Then the icing on the cake, I asked how long sedative would last and I was told half an hour, on our 30 minuet drive home her sedative had finally kicked in fully and she could no longer lift her head up. I called back and was told that I could bring her back in if I really thought it was necessary but that by the time I got her back she would "probably be fine" after all she walked out of the vet's office and got into the car. My poor dog couldn't stand up for 5 hours after I got her home. Never again. No vet wanted to see my dog? Great made up response, I was new to the area and suggested to this clinic as someone who was in a panic to get their dog taken care of.

I am so impressed with the vets at St Mary for taking my 3 year old dog in for emergency surgery after accidentally swallowing a rock while playing ball. They were fast, concerned, thorough, and genuine. Rita comforted me when Kinglsey was going to be left there for a few days, and reassured me everything would be alright. They worked straight through that evening and called the minute they were done to let me know Kingsley would be fine. Complimentary visits afterwards where my questions were always greeted with smiles and Kingsley loved them as much as I. Now, a month later, my dog is back to playing fetch, and eating his regular food like nothing ever happened. I can’t thank John, Rita and Lexie for all the wonderful care they have given to Kingsley and myself, and recommend them to anyone for their regular small animal vet. Michelle and Kingsley

John and Rita really care about your pets! We have been taking Max there for about six years and they take great care of him. He had a mass removed by John and the outcome has been excellent. John showed us and explained thoroughly how we could treat Max at home! He was seeing Max every second day and not charging us a cent! While in Nova Scotia visiting family this month, my 15 year old rescue dog, who had recently been diagnosed with kidney disease, became ill. I took her to Drs. Rita and John who comforted us both with their compassion and their commitment to do whatever they could to help my Quill. I was overwhelmed with appreciation at their availability to answer my questions as we tried various options to help my precious old girl. Sadly, it became clear to me that it was time to say good-bye to my "once in a lifetime" dog. This very difficult and painful experience was eased by the sensitive care Rita and John provided to Quill and to me during her last days and moments with me. I cannot commend these two exemplary veterinarians enough. They are knowledgeable and committed and have the human as well as canine touch. For me, they epitomize the ideal of veterinary care.

My cat got hit by a car last week. I took her in and service seemed amazing. Very quick and helpful. 600 dollars later and a cast duct taped onto her, and I had to surrender her to the SPCA due to her bone sticking out from her duct tape cast and severe infection causing her to need her leg amputated. I am a single mom of four children aged 2, 4, 6 and 10. This cat was everything to us and because of their negligence I no longer have her with us. When I called to get her paperwork and x rays faxed over, I also asked about a refund due to improper care causing worse problems and he hung up on me. Absolutely sick to my stomach. I would still have my baby here with her family had proper care have been taken of her injuries from the start. Also, the paperwork being faxed was time sensitive and he had failed to provide that as well because I received a call from the SPCA again saying he never sent it. I will be reporting this place

The clinic is very clean and we enjoy seeing the "welcoming committee", Rosie and Lily. Prices are reasonable, and Rita and John are very knowledgeable and current on meds and alternatives. They are obviously very dedicated and we truly appreciate the close proximity and after-hours emergency services, which more than once has saved us a long, late-night trip to the city with a sick dog or cat. My mum and sister also take their pets to Saint Mary's -- between us, we have 4 dogs and 8 cats, and they have always spoken highly of Rita and John. I would highly recommend Saint Mary's to anyone looking for an excellent veterinary clinic!

Hands down the best vet around. My cat had a pretty bad battle wound from an altercation with another cat. They were able to squeeze us in and help our baby. My cat was one of John and Rita's first clients in Windsor. I had taken custody of the cat following the passing of a family member. After picking up the cat , St Mary's Animal Hospital was the first stop to try to treat a sore on the cat's neck. Rita treated both my cat and I with incredible kindness that day and has shown that same compassion every visit since. Oh my ! Where do I begin?! Our visit to Saint Mary's was by chance .We met 8?years ago, or more. when our regular vet at the time wasn't available, and Our dear retriever ,George ,had a run in with what Dr. Ibrahim believed could have been a bear. Her gentle care ,and genuine concern were proven to me , not only when she treated his pain and wounds, but it was when she gave him such a loving kiss on his head before sending us on our way. He convalesced for two weeks and Dr. Ibrahim was very responsive to follow up on his recovery. Throughout the ups and down of our geriatric George, he almost made it to age 17 with the guidance and quality healthcare given of both Dr Ibrahim and Dr. Sawires, to End-of-Life at home ,with his beloved family at his side. To which we are all so grateful. Dr.Sawires took on Our "lil' Boy cat, throughout challenges of a spinal cord injury ,giving him every chance.Dr. Sawires was so giving of his time, and educating us, so we could be pro active in helping our beautiful lil Boy. This reliable veterinarian team are always here for us in our time of need. They are wonderful teachers , professional, and beautiful souls, who continue to look after our family pets / us all!

Took cockatiel in to get wings clipped after paying they told me he could still fly! What the hell did I pay them for worst place ever. Also my dog took a seizure and they wanted $800 to fix her with meds and I didn't have it all at the time so they told me to give my dog to the spca. Go to AVON way better service

We were so touched by the kindness and compassion at Saint Mary's. They truly care and take the time to talk with you to really make sure your pet gets the best care possible. We just had to put our 15 year old cat, Webster, down. Such a hard thing to do, but it made it a little easier because of their kind and understanding ways. In time, we will likely get another cat, the house is so empty now. And for sure, we will be taking our cat to Saint Mary. They are the most caring vets I have ever come across. My poor Gizmo woke up and stopped eating. I called St Marys Animal hospital and they got him in the very next day that followed with dental surgery 2 days after to remove his bad fang and another tooth! Our experience at St. Mary’s Animal hospital was nothing but exceptional. We saw Dr. Sawires for a teeth cleaning for our dog and couldn’t be happier with the results and the service. This was our first time having Benji’s teeth cleaned and didn’t know what to expect, Dr. Sawires takes the time to explain in detail what to expect before during and after the procedure. Benji can be a little timid however from the minute Dr. Sawires started examining him he appeared at ease and coooperative which speaks volumes on his empathy and ability to connect with animals. Dr. Sawires did an amazing job on Benji’s teeth and the best part about this clinic is the price is 50% less than any quote we received in Halifax... St. Mary’s Animal Hospital in Windsor is well worth the drive both for the quality and value you will receive there ... thank you again Dr. Sawires.

I called in to arrange a new Vet for my two babies, (dogs) and a man answered with “ hello, St Mary’s Animal Hospital, could you please hold”, but before I could respond I was put on hold . No exaggeration, it was 6 min, 30 sec. wait. I explained that I was looking for a new Vet and that I would like to speak to who’s in charge. He said “I’m in charge “. I was surprised and said, you’re in charge and you are answering the phone? He said yes. I paused and tried to explain that if he was the Vet in charge, and he had to answer the phone that maybe they were too busy for new clients, and then he hung up on me. I can’t imagine a world where this same person who treated me this way could care about someone else’s beloved pet. Go here if you want to but understand it’s only about the money. Just my humble opinion.

I find them to be very knowledgeable, compassionate and caring with animals as well as with pet owners. Took my dog there and had to have surgery for stones. I asked for all of the bill be done at once so I would have only one bill she even added the food as I asked her and then she asked if I wanted her spayed I said sure . The bill was already mad out and total was on the sheet she then proceeded to pencil in spay amount and HST...bill before spay HST included was 1,121.39 add 217 for spay and 31.55 this is what she penciled in which should have been 1,370 and some change then penciled in under total this visit 1,571.04 . I ended up paying another 100 plus dollars for the unforeseen problems. .I did not get a call saying it would cost any more and couldn't say if the procedure had worked he said just pray for the best... I payed the 1571 2 hours before surgery. so in saying that I wanted to discuss with the lady and go over the bill because you see 1,370 the bill and 1,571.04 is a 200 dollar difference....so if it were an estimate and I needed to pay more I should have been notified correct but I didn't so what I had payed was ok...... but the math did not add up the accountant spotted the mistake ,so maybe a civil suit in the making . Not only because of the 200 dollars but the way I was treated while trying to explain the mathematical error.An as far as I am concerned if you are talking to me about an issue and turn to you spouse and speak in your language that is so rude you may think we are stupid but guess what we are not we know you are talking about uok my bill does not add up do you get that there was a 200 dollar difference in what I had to pay ,just get that through your head that this was before surgery you see 1,121.39 plus 217 for spay and 3155 for taxes comes to 1,370 dollars s....so why does it say 1571 that was penciled in really you cant see that.do the math yourself and you will see if 1370 was the estimate why did the bill say 1571 it was a calculated error add it please or do you always add 200 dollars charge 200 dollars without letting them know to everyone o,many people had told me not to go there but I did boy oh boy what a mistake 2,. If I dont hear from you soon a letter will be written to the BBB ,the mayor and well you get my drift.and by the way I contacted the police they called me and they saw the bill and yes you did over charge by 200 he said it was a mathematical error on their behalf and told me to it will be a civil matter,again it's not the money at this point it's the rude,ignorant and poor ethics that you shown ... Meet Oscar and Wizard. I got Oscar (red) when I went to Saint Mary's Animal Hospital to get food for Wizard. Someone had dropped 5 little kittens on a strangers doorstep. Over the past few years I have been in situations where Wizard has been very ill and had to be seen right away. Rita and Jon have always been there for Wizard (and me) and today I had to rush Oscar in and got seen right away.
