This Veterinarian belongs to the category of Animal hospital.
Very costly for nothing- however staff was nice and helpful. Shame about the price though.
Staff friendly and welcoming. Made my fur baby comfortable as possible as no animal likes the vet when they are sick. Will go back for sure.
I had an emergency with my dog and the service was very good .The vet was informative and thorough we were very happy
Everyone here has been great with my tiny papillon Pippa and her multiple emergencies!
Karen from metro animal hospital is absolutely amazing! She was so caring, patient and friendly with our dog! Thank you for everything!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND !!!
Excellent care for my gericatric buddy who decided to take a leap off our third floor balcony.
The staff here are amazing! Thank you for loving our animals as much as we do.
Expensive but they did what needed to be done to save my dogs life when he was a puppy.
Awesome place
Our elderly cat’s health had been declining for the past year. He lost mobility in his hind legs without warning, and at this point we knew euthanasia was the only humane option to end his distress. Our regular vet was unavailable and recommended we seek assistance at the emergency vet. Their staff was extremely compassionate and professional and allowed us even during this stupid OMICRON wave to hold and say our goodbyes during his last moments. Very grateful for their gentle handling of the situation and I wish them happier cases.
Sadly, we had to bring our special 16 year old cat in to be put to sleep. We were all quite distressed but the care that the staff provided to me, my husband and our kitty was better than I ever could have imagined. The vet was so kind and gentle and spoke directly to Sid to tell him what she was doing while getting him ready. I will be eternally grateful for the staff that day. It was probably the hardest day of my life and they did everything they could to help us. ❤
It was the last stitch effort to safe my baby's life, over the phone they guided me through emergency CPR They did all they could but sadly couldnt safe him. Very very kind staff.
Don't go there without ateast $200 in your pocket. I had a cat in distress and theyliterally did a check over and it was $155 and change. Luckily the issue passed but I reacted and took him in there as nothing else was open (7 am). When I could not pay they stated they don't have billing options and plainly stated if they knew I had no money at the time they would not have seen him. So if it was something big and my cat died right there chocking on his own bile, no skin off their back. Never again! I got a bill and told if it's not paid promptly it's going to collections.
MAEC treated our greyhound on Christmas Day after he was attacked by another dog. They were able to see him immediately and suggested a treatment plan that took into account the medical needs specific to greyhounds. We were expecting a large bill but overall it was quite reasonable, especially on a major holiday. Excellent work and communication.
I wish I hadn't had to visit Metro Animal Emergency Clinic, but I am very glad that they were there. Having to make the sudden, totally unexpected decision to say goodbye to my 12 yr. old Britanny Mocha, while on vacation in NS, was made a wee bit easier by the clinic's professionalism and concern. Dr Hill was so kind and compassionate with both Mocha and I. She did tests and then explained everything that had happened and talked to me as both a Vet and as a pet parent. She answered all my questions in language I could understand and I never felt rushed. It was an awful night, but Dr. Hill is a caring person and Veterinarian.
They saved our dog. Love that there is the opportunity to visit when your animal is hospitalized for multiple days. Caring and compassionate staff.
2nd visit in 1 week, 2 cats with bad upper respiratory infections.. Metro took wonderful care of my cats, I'm so grateful to them ❤
Very quick service and professional, caring staff
So happy this was an option. The staff here are incredible.
Phone edicate is poor. I had a dog in extreem pain and could not get a vet to return my call . i am 1 hour away and wife was away with the car. receptionist was blunt and unsymathetic and showd no empathy. I was looking for help and would wait for someone to call me back. She told me they cannot do diagnosis on the or help over phone. Told me another emergency came in and hung up.
These people are amazing and care so much about pets AND their concerned owners!
Fantastic helpful and knowledgable. Can't ask for more in an emergency situation.
Love the staff here
My little kitten saw Dr. Jennifer Strong-Klefenz earlier this week. Really appreciate that she gave me a thorough run-down of everything she noted in the exam in layman's terms that I could understand, and a clear plan for how I should be moving forward. I sometimes leave the vets office feeling like I had to push to have my concerns/thoughts heard, but she allowed me to explain everything that I had seen symptom-wise in my kitten, so I felt like everything I was concerned about was addressed and taken seriously. Thank you so much, Dr. Strong-Klefenz!!
Beware of gauging. My dog had an upset stomach. Over the phone, I was told I should go in immediately. After an x-ray, 10 minutes of a vet's time, and 2 needles, we paid $500. Drive the extra 10 minutes to Lady Hammond and save yourself unneeded gauging. I personally feel robbed.
It was a sad day. My cat passed away here. The vet was very informative. The place was clean. Luckily, I was able to go in and see George roughly ten seconds before he passed away. They allowed me to sit with him after he passed and didn't rush me out. When they brought him in to me he was wrapped in comfortable blankets. My heart was broken but, I feel they tried the best they could to help George be comfortable before he passed.
Patched up my cat! Great bedside manner for me(Jan/2021 - could not enter) and reasonably priced.
My dog was in distress so I called to bring him over. I was told I would have to stay in the car and they would call me with prognosis. So I called 4 Paws Veterinary Hospital on Lady Hammond. They had no problem letting me come inside. Unfortunately my little buddy had to be Euthanized. 4 Paws had no problem letting me be with him in his last few minutes. I won't be ever going back to Metro Animal.
Amazing, friendly and knowledgeable staff, they are awesome!
I Hope to god I never have to go to back to this clinic. It was unfortunate I had to go twice to this clinic, one time was for a swallowing chicken bones, which came up to nearly 400$ by the time I was out the door, the other was because she had the kennel cough nearly 400$ again that's after having a shareholder discount from my normal vet. Thank god I had insurance. That right there speaks for what the pet industry has become, a greedy money hungry industry, it's not about the dogs anymore just about the money. Disgusting! How would anybody give this place a good review.
Amazing staff that truely care. Vet was extremely good and transparent on her thoughts and needs analysis on what should be done.
Loving and caring staff....Saved my girl chinooks life...THANK YOU ALL..
The staff are very nice. I went for euthanasia on my rat, and the whole process was very comforting. Best possible experience for such a sad time.
If you need to take your pet in for an emergency this is the place to go. They are so caring and listen to your concerns. Thank you!
Open 24/365 and they honestly care about your animals welfare.
These people are great! My wife and I brought in an injured bird who was having difficulty flying. We brought the bird to the Metro Animal Emergency Clinic, they gave me a slip of paper where I can check on the little fella in a while after he is on the mend. If he can't be nursed back to health he will be staying at a rescue for the rest of his life. The care and support of staff at the clinic is second to none. So glad to have this clinic in my city.
I had to take my cat Gunther in for a urinary blockage on Saturday night. They took him in and triaged him right away, and I was updated by the veterinarian quickly. She was kind and reassuring, and explained everything to me very clearly. He was treated well despite his uncooperative behaviour. Thank you to all the staff who helped my boy that night.
We brought in our bunny suffering from G.I. stasis around midnight on a Saturday, and they took very good care of him with an overnight stay. Worth the cost to ensure your beloved pets stay healthy.
Top notch emergency doctors and vet techs. They save lives all the time, true heroes ????????????
They gave me a very accurate wait time estimate which better prepared us for our visit. The staff was friendly and helpful when receiving my dog for her treatment and the follow up instructions were explained clearly. Hopefully i won't need to go back there but if I do I know my pets are in good hands.
A health issue was missed with my 2 year old cat on his first visit, then three days later the issue lead to his euthanization. It is not the vet's "fault", however I feel like my cat's health wasn't investigated thoroughly enough. The first visit was $950 for two hours and I feel like we were rushed out of there, without the underlying cause of his issues ever being identified. I deeply regret not bringing my cat into his regular vet earlier in the day (I only chose this clinic because it was open later), as I feel that he would have received much better treatment.
We took our very ill kitty here, treated with kindness and understanding...
I had called 5 different vet hospitals trying to find a place that would help me after one of my cats attacked my gerbil. As Stripe was just clinging to life, each of the other 4 hospitals turned me away on the phone. I called MAEC and even though their vet who specializes in small animals wasn't there, they told me to bring him in. They were honest, professional and extremely helpful. Highly recommend this place for any animal emergency! Thank Dr. Strong for trying your best to save Stripe. He is hopefully on the mend.
Very expensive, but the staff was amazing.
Much needed help when all other options are closed. I Thank Them for the transition and the relief of the puppies pain since she was 18 years old pet.
Fast service
I've had a few unfortunate emergencies and the staff there was very professional, explaining situations as well as caring and immediate. I highly recommend their service during a crisis.
They are there 24/7 because when you need them, you need them.
Fantastic staff- exactly the good kind of people you need when your pet is in distress and can't wait for your regular vet.
I lost my cat baby in this clinic.. They did whatever they could do for him.. Very clean, friendly and great stuff.
They were great, didn't try to give us anything we didn't need, they clearly love the animals they care for.
They are caring and available.i am thankful they exist. Because our decision was end of life I did not like pressure to cremate after I had said no. Reminded me of a funeral home upsell.
Very caring staff and good services
We had such an amazing experience here early this morning. We were afraid my boxer had bloat, or a blockage and it was a pretty scary time. The girls at the front desk were amazing, very welcoming and make me feel a lot more at ease. They went out of their way to make Barrett feel comfortable and loved. The vet we saw was equally as amazing. She was so great with Barrett even though he was terrified and barking his head off at her. I really respected that she went through every aspect of his blood work and Xray with me, explaining what everything was (even if it was in the normal ranges). Was it expensive? Yes, but you're going to an Emerg vet, so I think that should be expected. I did wait quite a while to be seen - but no complaints here. Animals coming in that are worse off than my dog deserve to be seen first. 10/10 would recommend! Thank you so much for the wonderful experience
They are very knowledgeable. The kind of people you want to trust with your pet during an emergency.
Very well taken care of good dr. nice staff didn't wait long wasn't to bad at all my baby is feeling much better thank you
Roxanne cut her paw bad and this place took care of my baby. Very nice staff and they let me take my dog home before the e transfer went through.
My cat Ezri got very sick very suddenly and went into liver and kidney failure. The vet was honest and sympathetic with me and made sure the family got time in the car to say goodbye to Ezri before I went in to be with her in her final moments. She went very gently and peacefully and the staff were very respectful with giving me the time I needed to say goodbye to my very best friend. They also provided a paw print from her at no extra charge so that I have something to remember her by.
A few weeks ago I had to lay my dear 19 year old cat down, it was a very difficult time for my family and the staff showed us so much compassion and empathy. They helped us through such a difficult time.
Unbelievably compassionate staff, they know you are there during a stressful time and they treat you and your pet with the ultimate respect an care. They have a compassion room set-up when needed, it was completely isolated and private, dimly lit and feels like a living room. The staff gave us time with our pet and didn't rush us at all during the entire time we were there. I can't thank them enough for helping us through a horrible moment.
Amazing vet techs. Took our bunny here at midnight for emergency treatment and they were informative, knowledgable, friendly, and understanding in all aspects. Made sure to keep me in the loop and could call any time
Empathetic and great Vets/Techs that work here. I've been a few times, years apart and I'm always impressed with the level of care here
They were very kind and patient with the hard decision I had to make.
These folks at Metro were outstanding. Kind, caring and efficient all with Covid restrictions in place. Big shout out to all the staff.
It's labour day weekend and I woke up to my bunny not eating and being very quiet (which is not normal for her). I called the clinic and they answered right away and told me to come right over. The wait was long but so worth it! I'm so happy they were open and could help us out. Hunny is now on her way to recovery ❤
Expensive but it's open all hours
Friendly place to take your pets. They also sell pet food so if you work late at night and you still need to get pet food. You can get it here
We unexpectedly had to put our cat, McNulty, down late last night when his heart was enlarged and was pushing fluid into his lungs making it difficult for him to breathe. It was a really rough night and I just want to thank the vets for everything they did, communicating clearly and making it possible for McNulty to pass away peaceful with us wrapped in a blanket in our vehicle, rather than in a scary vet office with only one of us allowed in due to covid.
Excellent emergency services.
Expensive but staff were friendly
My budgie was laying an egg but she started breathing hard and wasn't making much progress. Metro was the only vet out of any I called willing to see her tonight. They took her in right away due to her laboured breathing and let her hang out in an oxygen kennel. The vet was able to push the egg out pretty easily and I was in and out in a couple hours. Well worth every penny and they only charged me the exam fee, which isn't much more than any other vet office. I literally can't recommend them enough. My budgie is very proud of herself and is feeling much better.
Called in with what I thought was an emergency (turned out he was completely fine), person on the phone was very caring and compassionate and walked me through everything.
We came in with our dogs foot bleeding and they were very understanding and professional. They took her in immediately and she stabilized quickly, the cost was very reasonable and I'm so thankful!!
My darling 14 year old Shepherd Mix had an accident at Camp Bow Wow in Dartmouth recently. A younger dog ran into her and broke her leg. Although I knew her time with me was coming to an end within the year, I had to make the painful choice to lift her up to the Rainbow Bridge. The staff and E.R. doctor at this facility are unbelievable in their love and compassion for animals and allowed me to stay with her as long as I needed. Best place to take your babies.
Friendly staff and expert vets.
Great staff and service
they are kind, compassionate and patient, we had to make one of the hardest decisions in my life tonight about my baby girl Blackout and they were just amazing with us.
Quick and very thoughtful service
Glad to have such great and caring people looking after my cat. They kept us very informed and updated. Very grateful, thank you for giving the best care to my cat Marvin :)
Thanks for being there to help our little dog late on Friday night.
I can't say enough good things about Metro Animal Emergency Clinic. They treated my senior cat with the utmost care during an overnight stay as well as a second visit for post-op additional pain relief for my kitty. The vets and techs are knowledgable, kind and patient. They managed by anxiety and treated us with so much kindness in a time of high stress and anxiety. Thank you so much (and Willow says "meow!")
Awesome place.
Very kind and compassionate staff during a difficult time.
Great staff.
I left a very sad woman today but I have to say the staff were very helpful.
Very polite knowledgeable staff, clean professional building.
They took really good care of our dog who had an open wound after being attacked by another dog. They are very busy and the triage did not make 100% sense to me, but everything else was great.
This place is very friendly very good with your pets ,and there needs ,Beautiful place love all the staff was very nice to me when I loss my scamper thanks so much you really help me trough it ,still missing scamper so much, thanks again hugs to all
Always professional and kind. Fantastic veterinarians.
Our genuine experience, Our 8 year old blue nose pitbull got quilled by a porcupine around 11 pm. We called to let them know we were on our way. Upon arrival they didn't immediately take her which left our dog to bleed all over the back of my truck and the quills to deepen. Once they admitted her we were told removing the quills would take 1 to 2 hours so we waited outside, they wouldn't let my pregnant wife use their restrooms even now that the province is open to the rest of Canada. Now the fun part.. we were originally quoted $890.00, then, after 3 hours we were told it would take "a bit longer" and cost "a bit more," I asked the receptionist a rough estimate and she said no more than a couple hundred dollars. I specifically asked if it would not be double. Now having waited over 4 hours outside, they called us and told us to go home and come back in the morning. I inquired about the cost again and now our original quote has skyrocketed between $1700.00 and $2000.00. We arrived home after our 45 minute drive for no more than 10 minutes in which I tried to reason with the staff about the cost increase, which ended up being 110% increase overall. We came to the agreement of $1500.00 roughly. We were called to return back to the clinic to get our dog as she would be ready within an hour, keep in mind we were told to go home and called within 10 minutes of being home to return because they would be done by the time we get there... not the case we ended up sleeping in our car for another 3 1/2 hours until finally 7:15am to receive our dog. In total we walked out with over a $1900.00 bill excluding, the bill we will be getting from our vet to remove the stitches and my dog was covered in pee. We will NEVER use this vet again and will caution every person who thinks of taking their pet here. Price gouging is paramount. Avoid at all cost.
They took us in immediately when our regular vet was closed, very helpful and the kitties are doing well again!
We brought in our young dwarf hamster this morning for hurting her back leg and the vet was so wonderfully helpful and gentle with her.
Glad they are here to help in after-hours situations.
The staff love animals. They are courteous and professional. They helped fix up my dog.
The service was fast and the staff were very caring. I appreciated having the services available. My Golden Doodle was diagnosed with kennel cough... two weeks later he was actually suffering from congestive heart failure (dialated cardio myopathy). His heart was enlarged and only beating at an estimated 5%. Unfortunately this was not caught at the emergency clinic. Disappointed that something could have possibly been done two weeks earlier, to avoid nearly losing my dog, if caught then. The vet we normally see caught the problem.
I have to thank Metro for the amazing care for our beloved dog Killer ( yeah I know, I didn't name her ????????). They took her in immediately and tried their best too avoid having to do surgery. In the end she needed it, through no fault of their own, they did everything to avoid it but unfortunately the thing she managed to eat would not pass through her intestine. After surgery the bill came out to 800 dollars less than expected. Which is huge since we were already really concerned about finances. The care was extremely professional and kind. They called to update me often and never got impatient with the million calls I made that were probably unnecessary LOL. They did everything to ensure our baby came home to us, and she is home now and recovering:). What people seem to forget is this place is an emergency HOSPITAL for a reason folks, they have dozens of staff that need to be paid and are open 24 hours, and their prices are way less than I expected! So for all the people who think they are expensive, yes the overall bill may be, but you need to take in to account all that this hospital has to pay in order to run and save pets. If they could do it for free and still live their life and pay their bills im sure they would folks, but that's not realistic. Every single individual I talked to there was kind and compassionate and I whole heartedly appreciate the services and the cost. Oh, and the patience they had with me bugging them a lot ???? Thank you Metro and all the wonderful Vet Assistants, Vet Techs, and Veterinarian's!
Worst days of my life... But the staff are amazing!
Great caring service from them the other night. The front staff and the vet who dealt with my dog were all very nice and comforting. Got my dog the meds he needed and we were on our way. I don’t know what we would have done without them!
The vets are very knowledgeable and make sure you understand everything before you leave. You dont feel rushed like you do at most vets.
SO glad this vet hospital is here! My german shepherd started showing mild signs of bloat on Sunday morning, after my other shepherd bloated years ago i was terrified it was the same thing (thankfully it ended up not being that!) I took him in here and they took him right away, made sure he was safe etc. Kept me updated frequently until I could pick him up monday afternoon. Everyone I spoke to had so much compassion from the first phone call to when i picked him up, I wasn't worried about Ezra being there without me. They had patience when i wanted to ask a family member their opinion, etc.
They were very helpful. My little bunny is better due the quick response from them.
Metro Animal Emergency Clinic is otherworldly in their capacity for compassion. My soul is broken and they made the loss of my beloveded JuJube a little easier to take. Thank you.
I truly did not want to write a negative review, rather email them so that the staff were aware of some mistakes they made, so hopefully it would never happen again to someone else, but their website has no link to contact them by email so hopefully they will read this. I brought my dog in for a nose full of porcupine quills. Staff was friendly, and service was ok, but the staff member doing the intake recorded 3 minor mistakes and 1 LARGE one. When my dog went on the scale, he was 40.2kg. After leaving, I read the post-op report and his weight was recorded as 30.2kg and the vet reported that my dog was administered a certain amount of anesthesia (of course based on his WRONG weight) and that he was hard to sedate, so they gave him more, which worked (of course). But what if the assistant would have recorded his weight as 50.2kg instead??? It possibly would have killed him for just a routine procedure. This kind of attention to details needs to be paramount in a health care facility of any kind!
Staff and doctor were great. Fast and empathetic...but a little pricey.
Excellent care and compassion
My kitty started having issues on the first morning of a long weekend. During lockdown. I took her into metro, and she's now starting medicine a full 24hrs before my usual family vet is even open. Staff were great, compassionate, and patient with all my questions. Price was a about what I expected, though to be fair, I expect a 24/7 emergency clinic to cost a bit more to account for overnight staffing. Waited about 2.5h to be seen for the initial appointment. Something for a pet parent to keep in mind - they are triaging, so a relatively okay pet that you're worried about may take a while to see while they deal with immediate emergencies - have patience and bring something to do while you wait.
the staff was really great with my very scared boy after his run-in with a porcupine
Staff were great, dog was well looked after. Went in as an emergency.
I have landed at Metro Animal Emerg a number of times over the years, once with my dog and a number of time with my cats. These folks are fantastic...I have never had a bad experience there and would highly recommend it to anyone I know who need emergency care for their pets....Just wonderful people. Thanks from my animals and myself....
Great place for low income spay and neutering. They are very helpful and professional here and treat your pet very well.
Excellent! Vet listened carefully and provided good advice and was ver reassuring. Make sure to call ahead before arrival.
I had to rush my cat there around midnight the other week, everyone was friendly and courteous. Making the stressful ordeal so much easier
So thankful for the dedicated staff at this hospital. Each person I had contact with was knowledgeable and clear in giving answers to my concerns. Their love for animals and their welfare was certainly evident in the way they treated my cat. Thank you so much for your excellent attention to his needs.
Nothing but a positive experience during a very difficult time. Knew we were going in to have a very sick cat put down. The staff and doctor were so caring and compassionate. We were brought into a very comfortable room, dim lighting, couch, chairs, etc., where we got to spend as much time as we wanted with our cat, before and after. No rush and lots of tears. Everything was done in the room. I can't thank everyone enough for making such a difficult time, comforting. Thank you. RIP Gabi. Shelley McCarthy
Thank you Doctor Karen Kaizer for saving our 11 year cat Gabby's life. You are a very kind and compassionate Doctor who understands people's feelings during what can be an emotional time.
So happy to have this available. Open 24/7, when your animal is sick or injured, your vet isnt open, they're amazing. They also offer a pet taxi service to transport your animal to your vet if for some reason you can't do so yourself. And its free.
Melissa and the team at Metro Animal Emergency Clinic are fantastic.
Having an emergency in this COVID 19, I am really thankful that they are open under very abnormal conditions. They couldn't have been any more kind and understanding of us, even if you can not go inside.
Compassionate and quick service with my rescue animals
I brought in my sick cat, it was the first time I've had to take him and he's almost 9 years old. They were kind and their advice was sound, when I told them that I wanted him treated with medication and to forgo the X-Rays they didn't try to make me feel bad or up-sell me on anything. I simply couldn't afford all the treatments and testing they recommended. The staff is extremely compassionate with the people as well as their pets. I am very grateful for their service!
So my dog got scratched in the eye by one of my cats. This was at 3am. To be honest I had been drinking heavily that night. I arranged for a sober driver. I was friendly with the staff. They thought it was a good idea to call the police for my "drinking and driving" after paying a ridiculously huge bill for nothing I have to say unless your pet is dying drive to Halifax. Don't waste your time and money on these ignorant nothing's.
Friendly staff, nice clean place and environment. Wonderful vets!
very helpful. Always there when you need help. saves our animals especially when all the vet places closed and any animal emergency
Professional and caring. You can tell they really want to help the animals. Very compassionate.
Very quick at getting my dog in for my emergency, friendly staff and very knowledgeable, prices weren't as bad as I was expecting either.
Had rush my cat Ozzy on this past Natal day Monday. He had to stay for 4 days and everyone, the Vets, Techs and assistants, reception were all so great and helpful. Although it can be more expensive I appreciate the service they provide as I had no where else to take him and where he had to be hospitalized 24/7 fir monitoring and treatments it was nice I didn't have to keep going back and forth between the Emerg and my regular vet which keeps my cat from undue stress from constant transporting. The service they provide was great!
There when your pet is sick, and no one else is around!
Excellent that we have this service available, but it seems very disorganized.
My dog was attacked by another dog. After three visits and multiple nights emitted, each day he was sent home. I thought something was wrong, but was informed he was “just in pain”. But on the third visit was informed that he had developed sepsis. I had enough money to pay whatever was necessary. I believe that inexperienced vet or vet “techs” work at this location and are not knowledgable enough in an emergency situation. I could afford any test or X-ray or ultra sound, which they did not perform. They continued to send him home on the basis of their gut instinct. As a result he died during emergency surgery. The “vet” that told me he was “just in pain” was present when I said my final goodbye with hopes he would make it through surgery, but would not remove herself from her laptop, nor make eye contact with me. I would not recommend anyone take their animal in an emergency. After three days they could do nothing as each day a new “vet” is involved. Don’t risk your babies lives here!!!!
Our experience here was a bit mixed, then again, does anyone actually enjoy their time at an Emergency Vet? I do think the clinic could make a few improvements in their overall cleanliness. However, the staff were very kind and understanding. Once we explained our history and experiences with emerg vets in the (recent) past, they were very patient and accommodating in letting us decide the best way to treat our dog. They were able to share information in a helpful way, and walk us through procedures so we knew what to expect. Overall, we have a happy healthy girl at home now and that's what matters.
They are top-notch. I am loathe to pay the cost, but have great piece of mind knowing it is there 24/7 in a time of need. It has saved us twice and in one instance saved my dog's life.
My puppy got transferred here overnight for observations and although we didn’t physically meet the staff we did communicate with them over the phone. Very kind, compassionate and understanding staff. Thank you.
Friendly staff, but due to it being a rapid response was very expensive
Dr. Lamey saving the life of our beloved Cowboy seems like an incredible feat and gift, but that's just what these highy skilled and humble angels that work here do, they get down to business. What a remarkable and caring place. Thank you for everything you've done for our family. The Reeds, Garden Lots NS & Toronto, ON
Nice staff.. very helpful.. just expensive.
Lovely caring staff. Dr. Erjavec showed great kindness in delivering the not so great health news of our cat, Misty. Her personal approx. 10 day follow up patient call check was something Ive not experienced in the past and something the human health care should think of adopting.
Woke up to my dog with his hind legs paralyzed. We rushed him to this hospital at 6am. The staff was amazing! They saw us right away and were able to explain exactly what happened to our baby. He had a herniated disc which paralyzed his hind legs. Considering it was a 24/7 hospital, I was very pleased with how much we paid for the visit. They were very reasonable and the took such good care of our baby. So happy I was able to find them. Thank you Metro ❤️
Great place awesome care great staff
Great staff, very friendly. Not a place you want to have to visit, but if you do, it's great knowing that there's a great team ready to help.
We took our dog here today because he made friends with a porcupine. The veterinarian was very kind, informative and reasonable in her approach. Hopefully we don't have to go back, but if we do, we know our dog will be well taken care of.
Were very caring, helpful and professional when having my dog out down.
So grateful for this place, the services they offer, and their staff's unending capacity for compassionate and kind service.
My cat have cloudy eyes, and the doctor give him two drops. after using it, his eyes getting worse, the pupil were dilate and cant change. And also the drop makes my cat having a lot saliva and tears. This is the definitely the worst and scary experience ever!
Thank you. Great to have somewhere to go in an emergency that's so amazing.
These people have no emotions. They are a mercy hospital!!! When I brought my anemic cat in for emergency, the first things I was asked was always about money, make sure you can pay us!! And they suggested 3 times that putting her down is the best option. SICKENING!! We sided with them though, because why not? They are the animal vets, Not me. But when it was time to go see her they wanted payment for all of this before I was even able to see her!! I HOPE YOU ALL REALIZE YOU LOST COMPASSION. YOUR HEARTS ARE NOT WHERE THEY SHOULD BE. This is not an angry review because I lost my beloved cat, this is a post to inform EVERYONE to second guess supporting this mercy hospital. It's sickening that I was asked to pay before seeing my sick cat.
Very helpful folk although the receptionist could be a bit more forthcoming with info on timing.
Fantastic staff; we brought our kitty here in the middle of the night and they were so sensitive and respectful during a difficult time for us. I hope not to need your services again but would not hesitate to return. Very comforting to know that these lovely people are there for your pet in an emergency.
In an emergency, great.
Great staff and very compassion it .
It was good while we were there... Asked for a full breakdown of prices for tests/exams, etc. So I know what I'll be paying. I leave with a pee kit for my cat (was told to bring it back there), when I go back they tell me it's an extra $100 to run the test...at this point I'm extremely confused because I had asked for all the prices. They just told me they assumed I'd know it would be extra and that I was suppose to take it to my normal vet.
Staff were amazing!!!
Very thorough & we'll snider
Outstanding and they are very caring place And the prices were very reasonable.
Pricey but fast and efficient
After hours care for pets, some of HRMs best Veterinarians.
Thanks so much to Dr Rhonda Macdonald and the Staff .
I had a really great experience here earlier this week, after I came home to a dog that was suddenly very ill. Unable to get into my regular vet, they referred me to Metro and I am so pleased that they did. The staff was so friendly and compassionate, and I lucked into arriving at a time when they weren't very busy. My dog was seen almost right away, and they did their best to help him out. They have a great system for providing quotes, so that you know what treatments will cost and determine if it fits your budget upfront. I would definitely recommend Metro to anyone who finds themselves in a stressful situation with a pet needing urgent care.
When something happens in an emergency or late at night or you can't get into your own vet's clinic quickly, this is the place to go! They run 24/7 and give such amazing care and recommendations based on individual pet needs. We've taken in a few of our cats, as well as friends and their cats, over the years here in emergency situations and though you do pay more for your initial exam fee, they are very thorough and attentive to the pet's needs. Vets will go over estimates with you and make recommendations on what tests need to be done. We've also learned possible issues that may arise in the future and been recommended to investigate these issues further with our regular vets to save money which have been very appreciated.
Excellent service! I brough my older dog in worried about a fracture after a fall and they saw him, examined him, and had us out the door with his medication in half an hour. Everyone was very kind. I'm glad I went.
Very helpful and kind
Extremely helpful, knowledgeable staff and although they are very busy they take the time to listen and take note of what is going on and what's wrong with our fur-buddies.
Very helpful.
They saved our dog yesterday... amazing folks. Thank you so much.
Expensive!!!
Took good care of my 2 boxers after a porquipine encounter
Brought my cat their and said good bye.great staff
Great people here. Very good to us
Do not know what I would have done without MAEC. Sadly we made two visits to this location with two different cats within six weeks. One collapsed at midnight of cardiomyopathy and had passed by the time we drove the eight minutes to the clinic. The staff were so nice and compassionate. They allowed us to grieve in private and arranged to have the remains cremated. Six weeks later we brought a one year old cat in at 4 am who had not been eating and was throwing up worms. Staff was upfront about costs and advised us it would be less expensive to bring to our own vet. We did not want to wait the time so we forged ahead. She was exhibiting some unusual symptoms and was very sick. Each time they recommended a test or treatment they were totally upfront about the cost. The ultrasound that was performed helped narrow down the problem and it cost no more than what we paid at our regular vet to uncover the cardiomyopathy in our other cat six months prior. Our little one stayed at the clinic for six days. It was touch and go for a few days and we were not sure she was ever coming out and were prepared for the worst. Again, they laid out the cost for her to stay each day and advised us we could take her home to see how treatment was progressing. We opted to keep her in where she received the best 24/7 care possible. She was on IV, they gave her meds on a schedule, fed her and they picked her up and held her. I visited at least once, and sometimes twice a day, and the staff always took the time to fetch her from the back and set us up in one of their visiting rooms. Not once did they ever made me feel like i was inconveniencing them. We are not sure our little one is out of the woods yet, but if something should happen, the staff at the Animal Emergency Clinic have allowed us to have many "one more day" with our darling Chloe. Update. Chloe passed away from FiP a week after her release. It was a Saturday night and her symptoms worsened. I brought her to MAEC and the staff treated me with compassion and understanding and gave me amazing support and comforting hugs. She was treated with such gentleness and caring in her final moments. The staff here are top notch.
Refused entry and examination. Diagnosed my dog over the phone. While he was shrieking in pain. Was told to sit in the parking lot and wait for multiple hours. Trash.
Expensive place to visit but so necessary when your fur baby needs medical attention.
my girl is well taken care of
Great people. Great service very comforting my boy Tom stepped on the stove they were really helpful,❤????
incompetent, self righteous, ignorant (both ways), rude, uncaring, inexperienced, money grubbing, dismissive, in general, the most unpleasant place i have ever had the misfortune to be. i star only because there was no option for zero, and never bring an animal here unless you have a truckload of money, because , in the end, thats all they are about.
We've unfortunately had to come here several times. Each and every time we came they were super professional and courteous. They always go over any kind of cost with you before proceeding. I've lost an animal here and also been able to bring one home. Both sides were very stressful for my family and they were always right there with you to help in anyway they can. I will always say thank you to the amazing doctors and staff here.
Kindest Vet . Very good with our little girl
Even with the amount of dogs they have in, they were quick and efficient
Awesome staff, super knowledgeable, saved my dog and have given me peace of mind knowing my pets are in good hands.
So glad this emergency hospital exists. They are kind and caring. Very efficient. All covid rules being followed for the safety of everyone. I called, got an appointment, took my cat there and was back home in an hour. My cat is doing great and I am thankful that they were there for us.
Took our pup there last night. Great staff, location, cleanliness.
Have had good caring experiences with some vets and disasters with others. We had a dog pass away there and the vet was so cold and harsh that I wish I had reported her behavior to their college back when it happened. I wrote a letter to MAE about it but nobody even had the decency to get back to us..........not a word. So unprofessional. I would not go there if our regular vet was available, they do unnecessary expensive test as well.
Never want to be here but when you do need to go it is a great place with excellent staff. Had to take our dog during Covid restrictions so we couldn't go in with her but they kept us up to date in how she was and what was going on.
They took care of our beagle when he needed surgery after eating carpet. The team of vets were great. The staff is friendly and really cares about the animals. Great place to go, but hope you never need to visit. #beaglenation
Great staff, quick to get in with a distressed pet. Full explanation of exam and options for proceeding. Covid compliant with clear markings for public.
Very welcoming place. The staff are really great with your pets.
Horrible.. they were so busy they barely looked at my cat . Sent him home saying he was fine .. well the next morning he was at his normal vet with a blockage... thanks for nothing .
Took great care of my dog.
Thank you guys so much for taking care of cat last Sunday. He recovered very quickly after giving the medications you provided.
Amazing help. Thank you so much for taking care of simon on his last days with us! ❤ Yvonne and melissa
Handled a very tough situation with the upmost of empathy and respect. Thank you for everything you did for us in our little boy's End of Life process.
All of the staff were super helpful and friendly, very informative and multiple calls to help is with dealing with our cat. Emergency action is never going to be cheap but without it our cat likely would have not made it or at best would have been in major pain until our normal vets would be open (it was a long weekend). Thankful to the Dr. and staff in being able to act quickly.
They saved my boxer for me I’m so very grateful they were there for us
The staff there were great we had to make a very difficult decision and they were very supportive
They saved my dog's life. Fantastic doctors, the price came in below estimate and they were very immediate in their care. Can't say enough about their team
Worst experience ever! My dog had eaten a full bottle of arthritis prescription for my other dog. As soon as we discovered it we rushed him to this place. They would not help my dog in ANY sort of way until they knew how much money I would pay, they made that certain and wouldn't even look at him. They didnt try inducing vomiting which was the first thing they should have done. They tried to put more medications into his system and wanted me to pay over 3000 for them giving him charcoal plus other meds. I ended up giving the charcoal to him myself and brought him to a follow up appointment the next day at another vet who assessed him free of charge, and agreed that this place is a complete scam. Save your money and go to another animal emergency location this place is a joke they dont care about your pets they only care about your money!!!
Offered payment plans and hooked me up with a small loan company to help cover the costs of procedures. Took amazing care of my cat!
They are always so awesome!!
Recently had to take our dog of 14 yrs here with breathing distress turns out he was in heart failure. The care and compassion we received was absolutely amazing. Dr Kaiser and her team were great and we appreciate the genuine support we received from them. Miss our boy like crazy????
Got us in quickly, handled our cat beautifully. Cat was happy and so were we. Thank you to the staff members - you guys rock!
Great service
Ignorant receptionist who's on some sort of self administered power trip. Refused to take message . Then hung op on me.
Very friendly staff
Barely waited 5 mins upon arrival to have my dogs paw stitches up. Very reasonable prices and friendly staff. Highly recommend.
This vet emergency clinic is the best there is in Halifax and Dartmouth. my cat Arizona became very ill and our pervious vet would not try and dig deep into the cause of his illness. We took him to this clinic last night as my boy was getting worse and within 30 minuets the vet came back with a list of potential causes. my cat received comfort care for the night and will continue to until we pick him up tonight to take him to PEI for further treatments and diagnostics since they are unable to do CT and MRI. My family is beyond relived that we found this vet. They have given us hope. The staff is so comforting and thorough. Im beyond thankful. If your pet is in need of emergency care this is the place for you.
Great with dealing with strays that seem ill but once they do, wont share info about cats welfare.
Friendly staff - there when you need them
I can't thank Dr. Griffin and the team enough for the great care and kindness they provided for my 16 year old kitty Madison last Saturday (she was battling a very bad and sudden UTI). Dr. Griffin and the team took the time to get lots of information from me and kept me well informed (which is so hard, especially when you're not in the clinic with your animal!) Madison is back to her happy self, thank you again so much for your quick diagnosis and treatment!
(Translated) Excellent service But long wait time. (Original) Excellent service Mais long temps d'attente.
Called last night at 3am told them my cat was having an emergancy and would not use the bathroom. I told them I was willing to pay anything(there through the door rate is close too 300.00). they told me he was not bad enough to see. I had to call open vets when they opened and begged to see even though they all told me take him to the emergancy clinic now.. Thank god I was able to get him in. found out he is severely diabetic. cant believe I was turned away and my cat couldn't have died.
Amazing compassionate knowledgeable team. They were so kind and professional when we had to say goodbye to our beautiful dog Lexi this week. The vet and staff were amazing and gave us time to say our goodbyes and take her home for one last visit. Words cannot express how grateful we were for everything.
We had to bring our sick pup here for 24 hours of hospital care, and I can’t say enough positive things about our experience. The staff was compassionate, quick, and so good with our dog. The prices were reasonable, they didn’t try to push expensive tests on us, and they were so lovely to us when we called every few hours to check in. When we came in for a visit with her they gave us a room to visit in, checked on us, and our dog seemed to absolutely love all the staff she encountered. A couple of coworkers strongly recommended this emergency vet, and now I see why. I can’t recommend you guys enough, thank you!!
After my best friend was struck by a vehicle they provided him the best possible care and safely return him to me.
Had an emergency with my dog - the staff quickly and competently managed the injury and put him back together. I would not take my pet anywhere else for emergency services. Additionally, they are eager to help figure out financial options to make sure your pet gets the best care at a truly reasonable price.
Very good service but expensive
Absolutely wonderful staff, although i met them under dire circumstances. A friend of mine was caring for an aging dog, whom later passed away. The staff was very accommodating and made us both feel valued, and showed utmost care for my friends deceased pup.
There when you need them
Excellent care
First off poor to fair is being kind towards their rating it was HORRIBLE service. reception was horrible doctors was good. first off we were told we were next in line and that it wouldn't be too long. just after we registered somone came in with crocadile tears and pet insurance. magic they were in and out before us. when I questioned it I was told I dono by one and that they triage the animals (by the other) but no one ever triaged my animal they just went by what I said so I guess I should have exaggerated on the symptoms. after hour an a half I asked how much longer as it was past my childs bedtime and he was getting cranky. I was told we were next. I knew better as we were told this already once it was another hour till our dog was seen. they then wanted $1000 to keep her over night to do test...haha yes as a single income family we just have $1000 laying around. we said no and asked for medication and then all of these extra charges for blood work that we not qouted on before and so on showed up. the young lady at the front desk was completely rude. I will Never go back again! what a rip off trying to get $1000 out of us they should be ashamed of themselves trying to rip people off. our dog is much better today. don't think you have to keep them over night you don't they will give you meds and send them home went from $1000 for over night to $200 with extra charges so watch your bill and ask for qoutes. the doctors seem to be fine there but I wasnt leaving my dog there with the rude receptionist to watch I wouldn't trust here with my sons stuffed animals. Also that sick animal with pet insurance and person with crocadile tears I overheard them talking with the doctor when leaveing and there was nothing wrong with their dog. good triage there if thats what you want to call it "triage".
We recently had an Emergency situation with our pet and we were really happy with the care we received at the Metro Animal Emergency Clinic.
Our 15 year old, sick cat Riley took a turn for the worse on a Saturday in March, and by the Sunday we knew we couldn't wait, we had to end his suffering. I called ahead and explained the situation as best I could through my tears, and the receptionist was very understanding and reassured me that they would be able to store his remains if we were not able to take him home for burial right away. When we arrived, the parking lot was full, but we were given a room right away. Dr Karen Keizer was incredible. We were given options, but no pressure. We were again reassured that we were doing the right thing. She was as gentle with us as she was with our poor boy. No one ever wants to need the services provided by these wonderful people, but I will forever be grateful that they are there, 24/7.
Kind service in a time of need
Prompt helpful service!
????????????????????????
Amazing place - everyone was incredibly helpful and understanding. Our cat had an emergency and unfortunately had to be put to sleep. The staff was amazing; the vet was so kind and let us have all the time we needed, she also explained everything. When speaking to the vet, she gave her honest professional advice and I did not feel at all as if I was being given expensive options so they could get my money. I wish I could make them my full time vet! (Without the emergencies of course!) They made us feel comfortable and supported. Absolutely recommend
We had a very positive experience Mon. Aug. 14th. Our dog had surgery that morning elsewhere and unfortunately 1 or 2 stitches loosened & then let go about 7pm (not their fault). Blood everywhere, me panicking and extremely scared and upset. We arrived just before 8pm. Staff was so kind and understanding and helped me calm down. They kept her overnight, sedated her and put 3 new stitches in. The estimate was not as high as we expected and was less when paid the next morning. All I can say is thank GOD they were there. Living in Windsor we really had nowhere else to go and we were very happy with the entire experience.
Very kind staff. Large, comfortable waiting area with coffee, tea and a water cooler. They were really nice to me and my cat and I didn't feel like they were trying to make money off of me. No unnecessary treatments or upselling of foods. Also, bonus super adorable clinic cat!
Excellent service. It is a little more difficult with the covid restrictions but they were very caring.
When I brought in my cat George I think I was more distraught than he was. They were friendly, kind, informative, and realistic when telling me the diagnosis and treatment plan. After the surgery they called and explained everything. They let us come and visit him whenever we wanted (they were busy dealing with a sicker animal and we had to wait, but we completely understood). They answered my million & 1 questions happily. In times of a crisis we will bring our pets here and know they will be well taken care of.
Very good experience very through and friendly but professional
If you are ever in an emergency situation with a pet, this is the place to go. The staff are very experienced, efficient and kind. On occasion they have gone out of their way to make sure my pet gets the attention needed (someone even drove her to a different vet for a consult once). Excellent service, well-run.
Counter staff are rude and ignorant.
Great service
Make no mistake. If you do not show up with a bag of money, your animal does not matter.
Porcupine quills removed so easily. Great job!!
I called these guys when my senior cat inhaled a bunch of medication. The receptionist was extremely nice and helpful, very calming - spoke with the vet and got back to me ASAP. He was fine and they told me what to look out for, and I'm glad I didn't have to take him in! They didn't have to help me as much as they did but it was great of them to do so.
Very on point and honest about my pets condition. Even assisted me even though none of their staff at the time specialized in rabbits
Always there when you need them! Great staff, and not expensive. We have been very pleased with the treatment our abimals received
Busy on a Sunday morning but they looked after my cat in quick order.
Terrible, practically a 3rd world hospital. For the amount they charge they should at least have an MRI there and blood thinners. Didn't appreciate the giggling staff in the background either during my cat's final moments.
Wow!!! This is the 3rd vet we visited attempting to resolve our problem. Dr. J. Strong-Klefenz was able to diagnose the problem as congenital with a physical exam (not requiring hundreds of $ in tests). She was tactful, supportive, and straight forward in presenting us with our options in a difficult situation. Kudos.
Dr. Kaizer is possibly the greatest human ever. She took amazing care of my kitty, and looked into ever possible reason for his issues, which my regular vet didn't. Yes its expensive, but my beloved cat is alive because of her and everyone at Metro, and if I lived in Dartmouth, I would make this my primary pet care facility. Thank you again for saving my boy!! x
This was the absolute best vet i ever went to. They made the hardest day of my life easier with compassion and kindness. They went way beyond the call of duty. And Dr. ACKERLY WAS AMAZING . HE WILL ALWAYS HOLD A SPOT IN MY HEART FOR THERE KINDNESS . I will be forever grateful i will recommend them to everyone .
Nice enough staff, but extremely pricey. Way over the cost of our regular vet. But price aside, our cat was misdiagnosed there (constipated, which was true, but no cancer). Found out two weeks later that he has a large tumour on his colon, and our regular vet actually showed it to us, on the x-ray taken at the emergency clinic. Nothing could have been done either way, as it's advanced, but it would have been nice to have a proper diagnosis, and not get this false sense of hope that he would be okay. A stressful time was made even more stressful by this.
Extreamly great and efficent service.
Quick and nice
Inresposible vet, she gave two x-rays without knowing the detail and after the x-rays, she simply pointed out that our dog did no swallow any hard plastic piece by looking at the cone that he chewed up and also she was trying to give my dog several injections to make him feel better when he already was looking good. Never going back if it’s not necessary, I’m not recommending this to anyone.
Went with my sister when she had to take in her poodle due to a fall. The vet, Dr Ridell was great, very caring.
Helped my dog and put up with her craziness
These people are great.
Helpful and professional staff. My usual vet was closed over the long weekend and i needed advice for my kitty that just had dental surgery. They were great with help over the phone.
Really great staff ! The vet took the time to talk to us and went through all of our concerns that were not answered at 4 paws on Lady Hammond road. Super happy with my experience here .
In an emergency that's the place to go to get the best care. Great people. All staff were great to deal with.
When my pet dog got something on his eye, I didn't know what to do for him. Thankfully, the vet helped me even though it was a late night.
They are kind and compassionate at the emergency clinic. I have been a few times with my dogs and have always gotten excellent care
Gave extremely great care to our fur baby.
Waking up to your cat screaming and paralyzed from the waist down is horrible. The staff at Metro are amazing in your worst moment. I cannot thank them enough for their kindness.
Only care about covid nothing else
Dr. Karen Kaizer is a God send. The staff is wonderful as well.
Very friendly, courteous staff. Went out of there way to assist me, made sure of decisions etc...explained, while it being difficult at COVID times, but still managed to take care of the issue at hand.
Brought my sick senior dog in to be euthanized and because the vet listened to her heart and belly, I was charged an additional $100.00 plus. Both family and their sick pets should be treated with respect and empathy above all, not the almighty greedy dollar. Horrible horrible end to a wonder dogs life.
Very friendly staff.very helpful with my sick cat.explained everything they were doing
Expensive but exceptional care!
Charged me to figure out nothing. I could have taken my cat to Tim Hortons got the same result and a coffee all while saving 398 dollars. The only sound advise they gave was "Have your vet check him tomorrow if he gets worse". Trust me, I wont be taking any animal to you in the future. Thank you for literally nothing.
Great to know that some one is there 24 / 7 to look after a family member
Caring, compassionate, non judgmental and worked with us as our resources were tight right after christmas.
I had the unfortunate task of taking my dog to an animal hospital after he was attacked by a dog 4 times his size (my dog's 50lbs). I was told by 2 other animal hospitals on a certain Rd in Halifax by the McKay bridge that they were at capacity and couldn't take him in even though he was bleeding out of a 3" wide cut to his backside. I'm so thankful that the vets and veterinary assistants at Metro Animal Emergency Hospital were able to take him in. They were great, updated me throughout his procedure, and even provided an estimate before they went ahead. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to bring my dog back if anything were to happen to him again. Hopefully that won't ever be necessary!
A warm and kind staff, well-known for working with local non-profit Hope for Wildlife, and caring for all sorts of animals. Professional and knowledgeable. Worth your time and business.
Wonderful staff demonstrated so much care to both me and my dog.
Staff was very professional and knowledgeable. They took care of our dog better than any other vet I've been to. Even if he didn't make it, it's comforting knowing how well he was handled in his last days
Very friendly staff eager to help in any way they can comfortable beds cozy rooms pet friendly(on leash and pick up after them is all they ask)warm quiet room open the window and you can listen to the waves on the beach. Larry Thompson.
Always a good experience. The stress of having a sick or injured furball can be overwhelming. The staff at the clinic know what to do and say to make the visit much easier. Much love from Little Bear.
I cannot day enough about the wonderful staff. My girl Lillybell was a very sick girl and she was referred to the clinic from the South Shore. From the moment we arrived the front desk staff were amazing, every technician and vet we dealt with were amazing during such a difficult time. I felt everyone had compassion for Lilly and I was kept up to date regarding her condition. Unfortunately Lilly passed away yesterday, but again the vet who was there was compassionate to the end and did not make us feel rushed as we said good-bye. I am forever grateful for the care Lilly received. Thank-you
Great staff
Extremely efficient and professional vet services here - I would recommend to everyone with a pet in crisis.
They where great with our dog. Waiting to get results and talk to a vet was a little slow but given they have emergency cases walking in it is understandable. Our dog had to stay for 2 night. Yes it is expensive and probably more so than your regular vet clinic (for sure the exam fee) but realistically you’re coming here because it’s an emergency and this is the only option so because they offer after hours service it will cost more. If it isn’t an emergency then wait to go to your regular vet if you’re cost conscious, but they are absolutely amazing given an emergency situation.
I called with a question and was very satisfied with the answer I was given.
I called them and insisted that my dog was trembling very bad and unable to control her movements. They refused to see her and told me it wasn't an emergency. They told me to call a 24 hours vet that works by appointment as I was insisting she needed to see a vet right away. That vet hospital was fully booked. After describing my dog's symptoms, they asked me to bring her in and she was seen by a vet right away for assessment. After a quick look at her, they decided to treat her for poisoning and saved her life. If I didn't trust myself and believed Metro Animal emergency clinic, my dog would be dead.
The doctors and staff were very caring and compassionate with our cat
They were excellent. While they couldn't save my rabbit as he was in the end stages of GI stasis, they were very compassionate. Very upfront and honest about costs, prognosis. Quick response time in spite of COVID regulations. I would recommend them for anyone with emergency pet needs.
I was initially fairly nervous to bring my dog into the emergency vet, as I know it is prohibitively expensive. Unfortunately our little dude didn't give us much of an option so we brought him in on a weekend afternoon. Everybody was kind and gentle with our dog and made sure to explain everything to us in detail. They also gave us multiple quotes so we could pick a treatment plan that fit within our budget which was awesome. Our little guy spent the night and when we picked him up he was on the mend and has since almost fully recovered. My only real point of contention is that the dog came back absolutely covered in fleas - I think we have pulled about 12 off of him since he got home! I understand that they don't have a lot of control over something like that but it still sucks to have a flea-ridden sick dog... All the same, I wouldn't be hesitant to take him back there should the need arise, the vets and the vet techs were all wonderful and that is what is ultimately important.
My dog passed away today in my arms at home I had no idea what to do.called metro animal emergency they were so very helpful..it was so hard to say good bye to him..had him 15 years..they took him and gave me his paw prints..and will look after his remains..being on a fixed income ..I thank them from the bottom of my heart
Great experience
Great service and a friendly staff, they really know their stuff!
Due to an emergency, me and my dog had to rush here for immediate attention, after our regular vet advised us to seek emergency care. We were seen promptly, and given excellent care even though I'm sure I was a bit frantic and I know my dog is "high needs" and can be a handful, to say the least. All of the staff were really nice and calm, and the doctor on duty was super knowledgeable and gentle with my dog. The facilities were clean and bright, they also sell food and assorted toys. My dog ended up being ok, and I'm grateful for all the help I got yesterday. Emergency vet care must be insanely stressful and they do an amazing job.
They were great , especially the Vet taking care of my cat JonJon . Trust them of taking care of my cat .
Very compassionate and understanding. We really appreciated them when we had to say goodbye to out dog.
We would like to thank Dr Strong and all the staff who treated our beloved dog Remy for their compassionate care and Remy’s subsequent peaceful transition. Your kindness really meant a lot to us during this stressful time. Maureen and Randy Brooks
Bad time but they helped alot. 4:30am called for advice and was at the hospital by 5:30am. Amazingly nice people and seemed to really care.
Great place for an emergency. The vet was awesome to my little guy, fixed him right up. They forgot to put some food on my bag when they brought Dante back out to me so that is why they only got 4 stars ????... you might have a bit of a wait but they see as many sick or injured animals within the time they have! Thank you Metro Animal Hospital ❤ Dantè is doing great ????
My cat had stopped passing urine, and was straining so hard he threw up. I ended up bringing him to the clinic around midnight, where they took him right in. Due to Covid I wasn't able to come in to the clinic, and I had to cab to them - they let me wait outside and even offered a blanket to help keep me warm. They worked with me for my budget, and provided excellent care for my kitty. He was sent home in the wee hours of the morning with some medication and a new diet, and is adjusting well to everything. I can't thank them enough for saving my cats life.
They were great. Very satisfied with staff and service
Staff was friendly BUT... Wait was way too long...clinic is set up in such a way that owners cannot go inside. So dogs go in to get triaged, then come out to wait their turn. Of course they don't want to go back inside!!! It was very expensive & we left without knowing the problem. There obviously needs to be another emergency clinic in HRM.
They're gouging with prices right now when you're desperate for help
Very caring and wonderful service. Thankful for Metro being there when my cat needed help.
They put my dog down.
Dr. Keizer was conservative with tests so the visit wasn't super expensive and provided great care
We are very thankful to have a 24hr clinic nearby. We've had to use it on multiple occasions. The staff and vets have all been really great.
We always received the best care there. Not a place you go for check ups, usually it is a panic and scared out your mind. The best vets!
My experience here was very good and although the payment seems to have taken precedent over all, it is a business. They had my girl in and out of surgery in 2 hours from arrival.. Saved her life and that has NO monetary value. Thank you again!
A very kind, professional and knowledgeable team. Took care of our girl answering all our questions day and night.
This place is amazing. Knowledgeable and caring staff
I just want to say what an awesome group of people work at this hospital. We arrived with our boy who was in pretty bad shape after having his tail and foot cut, requiring immediate attention. They were extremely attentive to not only our poor boy Ricco, but to myself and my husband. Dr. MacDonald had such a great way of telling us the bad news that he needed an extensive and expensive surgery. She was very comforting to us and did an EXCELLENT job. Overall this traumatic experience was made as comforting as possible by all the staff.
