Taylor was so kind and patient with my two cats for their dental assessment. She was very calm, and my cats (who were pretty stressed going to the vet) loved her. Be very wary of this clinic!!! They will quote you a price over the phone but will more than double it when you get there. Their idea of examining your pet is lifting up a lip and picking it up and putting it back down. No checking ears, no thorough examination of the mouth, no feeling around the body for anything at all. And they want to charge over 100$ for this. I wanted my cat euthanized to end his suffering as he was very old but left with him to suffer some more because of these so call veterinarians trying to scam me out of more than the agreed $138. I will never take any of my pets there again. Left feeling like I was a sucker that came through the door and could be taken advantage of. NEVER AGAIN!! SHAME on all of you at Harbour Cities Veterinary Hospital. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME!!!

This amazing team has been with me for six years. I started with four cats, and they were amazing, just a normal, but amazing, vet experience. Later on I got a husky with my husband, I had everything I ever wanted. My husband left, and I was in turmoil of what to do, but I kept all five of my animals. When anything happened with my animals, the vet was SO understanding and nice, they knew I kept all the animals, and they tried helping me any way they could, they always asked if I was okay, and they really made me feel not so alone (this was 2017) fast forward to now, I'm finally on my feet, and one of my babies passed away, again, they were AMAZING. Then, one of my babies got such a rare auto immune disease no one even heard of it, other than research. It has been two months of me being terrified I was going to lose another, and again, everyone in that office, not just the vet, they all held my hand, they listened to me as I cried, they call me every week to see how Garfield is doing. I could go on. These people are all truly amazing, and I am so grateful for each and every one of them. Thank you Harbour Cities Vet, you all really do make a difference.

Where do I begin? I made my appointment for 2 cats over the phone and it was discussed that I'd never been there before. I assumed as a first timer they'd welcome me and instruct me well. When I arrived they seemed to have no clue what to do with me as they were full. (I wondered what they did all day for everyone before me? Why the confusion?) I explained my appointment was at 6:40 for two cats (they only had it booked for one). To my surprise they asked me to wait out in my car and that they'd come get me. I assumed they'd come get me for the examination but no. They did it without me which i did NOT like (my cat is very touchy and will put up a fight. He'll only let me handle him). It should have been explained over the phone that I couldn't be in the room and I wouldnt have wasted my time going. A girl brought the cats back to me, quickly told me the teeth cleaning would be $1000 per cat and she really didn't feel like answering any more of my questions. Her answers were short, final and unfriendly. I will not be giving them any of my money nor will I have my pets as their patients. The entire experience was a cloud of confusion and disorganization and VERY unhospitable - not one of the women in there even smiled. I felt unwelcome. The service was abhorrent. Too bad so sad.

I have been taking my rescues to Harbour Cities Vets for a number of years and learned very quick that this clinic is in it for the health and well being of animals which is one of the reasons I continue to bring my precious fur babies there. Everyone there is amazing, kind, compassionate, full of knowledge with valuable advice. Dr Paige is a phenomenal vet for so many reasons but what makes her stand out the most is how she explains everything at a level we can understand rather than using big medical terns that none of us would have a clue what she is talking about. Taylor is not just the clinic Manager who keeps the clinic running smoothly but she is also someone who treats us and our fur babies like we were family. Even in the sadness of losing one of our much loved fur babies the staff of Harbour Cities walk through those hard times with us by wrapping their arms around us and letting us know that they feel our loss with their kind words of compassion. I took my two cats there for a vaccine and a checkup. The staff is absolutely wonderful and did everything they could to make sure my cats were comfortable, even my very timid male cat. Dr Marryatt was so sweet and kind with both of them and took her time. I really wish I had caught the nurse's name because she was also amazing with the cats. I felt welcome and did not feel judged at all there. The price was a little more than some other hospitals but it is completely worth it to make sure my babies are well taken care of. I will be returning!

I can't express how much we adore Dr. Marryatt and Taylor, and the amazing care they show our fur babies. We transferred to this clinic a few years ago and our only regret is that we didn't do it sooner! They have been so kind and caring and have been extremely professional, loving, understanding and patient when my older cat has not been such a sweetheart. I love that they are so easy going and are very affectionate to my fur beasts, after having a Veterinarian that didn't have the greatest manners it was such an amazing feeling to be around so many wonderful people who are there to take care of my family.

Went in for a booster shot and they took such good care of my Luna, everyone. Even took me in early as I had an unexpected ride to my appointment. I will be using them for my girl's care... I am here near a year later and still top notch care with covid restrictions. I wasn't sure how I felt about communicating on the phone instead of in person, but I very much felt heard, listened to, and they asked all that was relevant to why I was there. She really took time to explain specifics and I didn't leave feeling like I missed anything. Absolutely would recommend them to anyone needing care for their pet.

Where are all the staff gone?. Have been going to this vets for years. Lately when I call for an appointment or to order medication I am put on hold and forgotten, happens all the time. This week I went in to pick up a product it had taken me four phone call to get through to order. As I walked in the receptionist looked up, then stood up from behind the desk, walked in to the back area and that was that. The phone was ringing, no one at the desk, no one, just me. I stood there, and stood there and nothing, no one at all, just over 10 minutes later I left. I have had enough of the poor service from the receptionist staff. I think Dr Marryett is wonderful, just wonderful however I have to go somewhere else. I just cannot afford to spend any more time calling, staying on hold, standing at the receptionist desk. What is going on that no one is doing anything? In the past there was no issue, is this a cost saving issue because if it is its backfiring .

Gentle, kind, knowledgeable, professional. We found Harbour Cities when looking for a replacement vet. My boyfriend had been taking his cats to a horrid vet, so we were very careful when searching for a replacement. The vet we see at Harbour Cities is very gentle examining the cats and really respects their wants and needs. One of the cats is scared very easily, but even on the first visit the vet was able to examine her quickly and thoroughly, while keeping her calm. The vet also helped us balance each of our cats individual needs while helping us keep all our cat expenses on budget.

The staff here are amazing! I've been bringing my dog Luna to Harbour Cities Veterinary Hospital since around Christmas of last year. The staff have always been knowledgeable and kind. When Luna was spayed they were able to answer any concerns and even allowed me to call multipal times to check in. Got charged for an ear cleaning witch wasn't performed because the doctor said his ears were clean and fine the charged almost $40 for ears that i wiped when got home to be sure they were touched, and sure enough there shouldn't of been anything on the damp clothes i used when I got home, and the white clothes definitely had ear dirt on so this explains y this place is alwayz available,, I'll never take my four legged family member back their ever !!!

I arrived from out of province, with my Terrier/Schnauzer Vimy, injured from a vicious attack by another dog. When my daughter called, I was told to go in immediately. Vimy received THE most wonderful care and attention, from Dr. Flemming, Taylor and Shelby (?). I felt very reassured, as I was extremely upset over the attack which had taken place forty eight hours earlier, in another province. My bill was very reasonable, and I am forever grateful to the team at Harbour Cities, for the wonderful work they do! I highly, highly recommend this hospital, and its staff. They are top notch!

A great vet! They are not pushy with meds they recommend but that are not 100% necessary (eg tick or flea medication); they put the meds on my file and said if I wanted them I could go to the desk and get them. No pressure. They also explain the benefits of said meds without seeming like they are judging. They also go the extra mile to explain what they are examining and how you can do it. An example would be how to check how full my male cats bladder is at home if I'm worried about crystals. I cannot say enough about how good I've found this vet clinic for general pet health.

Dr Marryatt saw me/my friends cat on short notice yesterday - and All I can say is Wow! She gave a very thorough exam and addressed every concern I had with this senior kitty. I was asked by my partner to go pick up food for our dog. When I arrived the sign on the door stated that a call was required which i was not expecting. After the call was answered and i stated the reason for my call, the first question I was asked was my partner's phone #. I did not have my partners phone # as few people know phone numbers by heart in the modern world. I was placed on hold for about 5 minutes for the first time as the person on the other end searched by name. The wait was understandable. They returned having located the e-mail. I was advised there was a form that was supposed to be returned but had not been. As I was already standing outside when I discovered this, i became audibly frustrated. Nothing combative but I could see how frustratedly asking questions while looking for a solution could seem that way. I walked there and this is a process that was clearly set up for people in cars. I I was met with dead air. No solution. Nothing. To me this was transactional. I was there to buy a bag of food. I suggested perhaps I could fill out the form myself. That was seemingly reluctantly agreed to. Is there a black market for dog food? I finally got asked some questions, like, am i an owner of the dog, which, yes, I am...etc. The form was filled out over the phone. I was then asked if I could pay by phone. Another pause. I had to ask via what means. I'm sure that seems obvious to some people but it was not to me. Credit card or debit I was told so I said OK and provided my credit card #. I then recalled that in the 20 minutes I had been standing there I saw someone pay via debit on a machine and asked about that but was told that the transaction had already gone though. I was then placed on hold for another 5-7ish minutes. When the Employee came out with the bag of food finally, I was told that they could refuse me service in the future. I understand that my tone was flustered but was truly upsetting. This was a one sided interaction, that I was responsible for the navigation of. Yes I was frustrated but the thought that they would refuse to sell me food or see my dog is truly heartbreaking. Having read the other lower star reviews they also seem related to communication issues. I do not work there and am not privy to your internal processes and requirements. I required direction and was provided none at any juncture.

My family has been waiting since last December-January for my cat to get dental surgery with this place, yet we have received no update, no notice, nothing. We've tried to get into contact multiple times for ANY sort of update, yet nothing. I don't doubt that this get could be good with its reviews being rather positive, yet it's upsetting seeing my cat Having to deal with problematic teeth issues because a veterinarian hospital can't give us any semblance of a surgery date.

Longtime client here. I find the experience depends on which vet you get. Dr. Vaughan and Dr. Marriott are very good and they deserve 5 stars. Others, not so much, which brings the overall rating down. I had an extremely bad experience with one of the male vets who seemed to simply not want to help. It made me wonder if he just hated animals generally or cats in particular. The staff have generally been very good over the years. I continue to go here but am careful to make sure I get one of the two doctors I mentioned.

I recently lost my pet rat Boo. I asked for paw prints more then 3 times the day she was euthanized. They told me to wait a week and I could come pick them up. A week layer I call and they said no request was put in. It takes me 4 days to get someone who says that paw prints are stored in the mangers office and there were none there. I asked to speak to the manager, so now I wait, again! Oh and just to add they already got rid of her body so they couldn't go back and take the paw prints. They had no problem taking the $165 to euthanize my rat for a communal burial but screwed up on takong my last physical connection to my rat. Shame on these people!

We have been a multiple cat household for a long time now and have been fortunate to be clients at two wonderful animal hospitals - Harbour Cities and Dartmouth Veterinary. We recently ended up looking after a found cat that turned out to have a severely infected uterus. After examination at HCVH, it was found to be beyond treatment by medication so the only way to save her was via surgery. With great co-operation between sister hospitals, DVH were able to schedule her for surgery. Special thanks to Dr. Marryatt and Taylor at HCVH and Dr. Robb and all the vet techs and client care staff at DVH. All did a wonderful job - explaining what the issue was before she went for surgery, what was done while she was there, and what we should do to follow up. We are watching Pandora’s recovery closely but so far she is eating well and is being very affectionate. Animal owners in Dartmouth are very fortunate.

I've gone to this vet a few times & so far both times where very good experiences. The second trip I had to bring my cat in because that morning he had had a seizure, the receptionist was very calm and nice and helped calmed me down since I was in tears and in a panic. The vets were very sweet and very helpful. The only reason I'm not giving this place a perfect score is because of the price, it's very expensive and when your a low-income family it gets hard to pay the cost. But even then the doctors and the help are very cooperative and try to help you they best they can! ~Edit~ Found out that it really depends on the doctor you see. The last few times I've had very caring doctors but today I had one that didn't seem to really care whether my pet was sick or not. The doctor had a very "meh, it's not like I can do anything" attitude, which was very disheartening. And after being told quite a few time by the doctor in my previous visit with him that they wouldn't give him another check-up (because they know he's physically healthy) this one does. Now I have no problem paying the money, just wish it was to help firgured out what was wrong him instead of collecting data they already had. :(

April 22, 2015 I took my vomiting 15 year old cat in saw Dr. Gerald Solomon, after he "examined" her, he stood back with his hands on the counter and said in his words "It depends on how much money you have to spend, blood work, x-rays or euthanize" I was in shock and left, I have been a loyal customer for over 16 years have recommended them to many other pet owners, I have vetting sick strays, and neighbors cats when they weren't able to care for them, I have never dealt with Dr. Solomon before nor will I ever. I had to make another appointment as I won't have to pay an additional 84.00 after Dr. Solomon did NOTHING. I am worried my cat is dying they can't even squeeze me in... Disgraceful, service. Update April 29, my cat if fine, had I chose to euthanize, because that was the cheapest option my cat would be dead over an upset stomach. After seeing another vet Minnie received fluids, something to settle her stomach and for discomfort which was an additional 67.00, I went home to wait and see how Minnie was going to do, 2 days later I called to see if they do follow up appoints to be sure Minnie was in deed OK, when I arrived and was in the room waiting for the vet to arrive, I was then told it was not a follow up appointment but a re-check appointment and it would cost an additional $53.00 for the appointment I left. My advice is get if you need minor vetting they are great, if you are going in with a very sick pet, go anywhere else unless money is no object, when they suggest euthanize, if you love your pet, get another opinion elsewhere.

Terrible experience. I was told at the payment desk that I had a nutrition recommendation that had not happened. then they rushed to fix it and the technical pointed a bag of food in their store without asking about any allergy info of my dog. In fact, if my dog ate what they recommended he would be in trouble. He is allergic to grain and the food was grain based. but how would they know if they had never asked me. Sounds like a very solid dietary recommendation

If I could give zero stars I would. To start I called to put in a refill for my cats meds. They took my order no problem, told me it would be ready in a few days as per usual. So I send someone to pick up my cats meds, out of their way, because I work the hours that you guys are open. That someone tells me no meds were there, no meds were ordered. They told us, this wasn't ordered because I had zero refills left. Not one person from this "organization" told us this.. this is a week later after ordering the meds.. Someone should have let us know on the phone when we ordered these meds. Yet no one said anything and waited for us to waste our time to pick up meds that aren't there.. So you would think someone would have told me that they're out of refills right away. Instead of waiting a week. Now leaving me with ZERO meds for my cat for a long weekend. After hearing what you told the person I sent in to get the meds, I phoned in to hear what you guys can do for me.. I was told there was nothing to be done because of YOUR MISTAKE and acknowledging it was your vets fault. Being told nothing can be done until Monday which is unacceptable because I ordered the meds last week and am OUT OF MEDS FOR MY CAT. So I tell the rude person on the phone this is unacceptable and very terrible customer service. Which is when the person on the phone verbally attacks me and says I'm the one being rude and when I wasn't. Also this is when they tell me if I don't like your service quote "find somewhere else who cares." And that they'll be cancelling my appointment for my other cat that I had set for Monday. To come grab my medical history papers on Monday and never come back there. This is the way harbor city vet treats your clients and their pets? I guess so. Pathetic. Zero stars. Worst vet in Dartmouth.

The Doctors and Staff at Harbor Cities Veterinary Hospital are absolutely the best. We have been taking our cats and dog to this wonderful place for over 4 years. They are extremely knowledgeable, compassionate, and caring. Their equipment is top of the line and on the cutting edge of veterinary medicine. Many years ago we went to another Veterinarian, although we were treated well, when we found Harbor Cities Veterinary Hospital we just knew this was the place for our pets. I really can't say enough great things about them except please keep doing what you so do well. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and paws.

I did a lot of looking before I settled on a vet, reading through piles of reviews. I chose Harbour Cities because they had the best reviews - and no bad reviews at all. I have never regretted my choice. They handle every animal that comes through the door as if they are the cutest, most important creature on earth. They've bent their hours and made exceptions to accomodate serious cases, including the vet seeing us on her lunch break when we suddenly took on a dog out of a hoarding situation. They've always been fabulous at trying to find the most cost efficient course of action, readily given refunds on the rare few times that I've been overcharged, and they are easy to talk to. I've mostly dealt with Dr. Paige and I highly recommend her. The way they speak to me and my pets has always made me feel comfortable trusting my animals to their care.

This was my first time at this vet, they fit my bunny in for an emergency appointment as she was not feeling well. Dr. M. Parent was the vet that looked after my bunny and she was so sweet and so knowledgeable and provided expert care for my bunny. She made sure to take the time with me to explain what was going on and made sure I understood how to continue to care for the bunny at home to help her recover. We have definitely found our favourite vet, and this will be where we go from now on. Excellent staff & excellent service. Thank you Dr. Parent!

I've taken my dog Zoe to this clinic exclusively (based on proximity to my house) since I got her, and now that I've moved I still drive further to take her here because they take such good care! Excellent follow up after we've been in with any issues - especially during COVID restrictions, where I couldn't accompany her inside, they were so great with her and she's got no issues following them in the door! I recently became aware of their Pay it Forward initiative and they do such good things for people with pets that I am happy to give them my business! We've dealt with Dr. Marryatt and Dr. O'Keefe, and Taylor and Amy Lee as well... all great experiences and Zoe is happy seeing them all!
