Such a refreshing change in the veterarian field in Halifax. Privately owned and operated location, that actually care about animals and not the bottom line. Hands down the best place to take your pet for any needs. Called us 5 times just to see how our pet was after surgery that another vet specialist performed! Just pure care for animals and we love it. Always friendly and willing to help! Most other location have been bought out and operated via a large company so its all about the bottom line for them.

I’m so grateful to have this hospital for my pets. The hospital is absolutely lovely and the service is honest, dependable, and it’s affordable. I took Ms Ally for dental surgery & I was an absolute wreck with worry. I had a phone consult with Dr Emily & she answered my questions & gave me time to ensure that my decision was the right one. I dropped her off in the am & picked her up that pm. I was surprised that she was so alert & bright; she had pain meds that were very easy to use. The meds came with written instructions on how to administer them. There were two envelopes in different colours with dosage indicated, making administration easy. There was no swelling & no bleeding. Ms Ally is up & swatting her big brother around. Many thanks to Dr Emily & her team. Ruth & Ms Ally.

My cat Gunther has been a patient of Dr. Will's for his whole life and recently he had a urinary obstruction. I took him in as an emergency on Sunday and he had to stay 2 nights. I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Will and the staff at HPVH for treating Gunther so quickly and effectively. I trust Dr. Will completely and couldn't ask for a better veterinarian. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone looking for a new vet. The total bill was also less than I was anticipating, so thankful for that as well.

I recently joined this fantastic establishment for my dog Scout. Just walking in the door, you feel the love and compassion for your pet. The front staff are very friendly, and welcoming. Doctor Emily and Doctor Will took immediate care of my puppy who was quite sick. The concern they showed, the professional and caring manner they carry with them is amazing. Our dog had a problem with her eye, it was a small puncture to the cornea, it didn't look good. After getting a firm recommendation to have the eye removed from another local vet we visited these guys for a second opinion. Will suggested we give a course of medicated drops and more time to heal. Within a couple of weeks the eye had improved significantly and it looks like she will keep it after all. Not to suggest these guys can work miracles, of course. The service was top notch and Will was patient with our old but still very hyper and jumpy boxer. I feel like my pets are in good hands here with people who prioritize health and integrity over profits.

Our 5 year old dog is a frequent customer of Dr. Will + Emily. Every time they nail the diagnosis and seem to always follow up a few weeks after to see how things are going. In my 6-8 visits they’ve always been on time and helping understand the problem and options. The rest of the staff is on the ball, friendly, and always looking to make their experience better. Better than any human clinic.

One of the things this Veterinary Hospital boasts about on their website is how the client experience is equally as important as the care they provide to animals. This is an outdated value, and should be updated to reflect the current standards. Pets are not recognized as full fledged members of the family. Dr. Will is a very good Veterinarian, but his judgment of safety and emotional well being for pets and their families is clouded at the moment.

Went through this vet as part of adopting my cat, they missed an undiagnosed lump the size of a dollar, pododermatitis in two paws, gingivitis... and last but not all.... got the gender of the cat wrong. Called back and mentioned the above issues and tried to get an appointment, but never heard back after sending multiple emails and calls. Consider alternatives.

I will recommend this vet office time and time again! We were with Dr. Will at his previous location so naturally we followed him to this new location!! He has been great with our Marley (shepherd/husky mix) since her very first vet visit at 10-12 weeks old and she is now almost 1.5 years old. She loves him and we are very comfortable with him. We like how he gives us options instead of just insisting certain things we need to do. She has allergies and he has never pushed a expensive diet on us he simply just showed us our different options and how to navigate through the trial and error of allergies. Marley really loves Dan too as he always comes down on the floor to meet her just like Dr. Will does. She is always excited to go to the vet, and we have never left there anything but happy with her care. :)

Newer vet in Hammonds Plains and I love it. Dr. Will is amazing and really cares for your pet. He even came in on his day off to look after my dog after my dog had some issues with an operation from another vet. Only met Dr. Emily once but very nice lady also and can see she cares for the pets as well. Bobby and Dan on the front desk are very nice and personable and enjoy having pets around and even come to give them some love while you are waiting. Overall amazing experiences so far from this vet and I will keep going back since I fired my old vet.

We're SO glad we found Dr. Will Hoskin at Hammonds Plains Vet. He came highly recommended to us from some friends, and he exceeded every expectation. After visiting another vet that told us that our dog had cancer and only a few months to live, we knew we needed a second opinion. Our dog seemed very much himself and full of energy, and we couldn't understand how he only had a few months left. Dr. Will spent over an hour with me and my dog, sitting right on the ground and letting our dog crawl all over him, showing him tons of affection (and he's not a small dog). He was so sweet, SO understanding, and so compassionate. He eased our minds, clearly explained our options, helped us understand what he was seeing during his thorough exam, and answered every question I had. He calmed my nerves and he'd even talk to my dog for a while, giving me lots of time to process information and think about questions. It felt like we had known him forever, and we certainly wish we had been seeing him since the puppy days. His facility is clean and beautiful, his staff is so nice, and he's just one of the nicest people you'll meet. He's so great with dogs (even if you have a wild one like we do) and so great with people. Our appointment was absolutely affordable, and the best money I've ever spent. His first suggestion was to get our dog off the medication that the other vet had put him on, as the side effects were terrible and would be much more damaging for him long-term. It's so clear that Dr. Will is so much more concerned with what's best for your animal than he is about jumping straight to harsh medications or any expensive procedures. The previous vet offered us two options: a "pointless" $2000+ procedure that she didn't recommend, or medication. Dr. Will offered us an affordable $50 test that we weren't even offered at the other vet, and he even made the time to perform the test during the same appointment and then stay after hours to get a first look at results for me. The tests came back with no signs of cancer. Do yourself a favour and start seeing Dr. Will from day one, and tell all of your friends to do the same. After a stressful week due to a terrible appointment with another vet and devastating news, our family was SO relieved to have found Dr. Will and to now have plenty of options, a significantly better understanding of our dog's condition, and a solid plan for his RECOVERY rather than his passing. Months later, our dog is back to his normal self -- acting like a puppy, eating normal, lots of energy, no signs of pain -- on no medication and with no procedures or operations. My two young sons are so happy to have their dog back to normal and off of the terrible medication, and we are so so grateful for Dr. Will.
