What they did to my bird in this awful clinic is nothing but a crime. I took my budgie there for the first time, and Doctor Carnegy, who, by the way, is extremely unfriendly, told me he would be okay and gave him some medication with a syringe. The appointment lasted about 10 minutes. I wanted to ask more questions, but he was in a hurry. While I was paying for the appointment, my budgie choked to death. I showed the receptionist his dead body and they still charged me. They didn't even apologize! This veterinarian simply murdered my bird and charged me over a hundred dollars for it. Please, if you love your pets, do not take them to this clinic!

My boyfriend and I recently took home two kittens. The first Vet we've ever gone to was this hospital besides the ones in the Annapolis Valley. We were booked in with Dr. Hodgson. He is very quiet and gentle with my kittens, very knowledgeable and willing to listen and answer questions for as long as I needed him. So patient and personable! I've been in twice to see him and was going to see him a third time for a check in. He called a the other day saying that if the kitties are doing well and nothing has changed there's no need to come in. I very much appreciate that as we are a little strapped for money at this time! Really means a lot to me that he did that instead of having their third set of needles that aren't necessary and costing me a lot of money. Really shows me that they care about the pets and not just about making money. So thank you!

They won’t give me access to my cats files because the name is under my ex’s who I don’t feel comfortable with talking to anymore, out of my own mental and physical health. The receptionist wouldn’t do a thing for me because my name isn’t on his file and kept prompting me to reach out to someone that I’m, again, not comfortable contacting. So basically, my cat with a history of urinary infections has no documents for his new vet. Yay. Shows they really care about your animals..

I recently took my dog in to be put down because he wasn't doing well at 15 years old. We brought him in and had no idea what was going to happen and what the procedure was like. The doctor never explained what was going to happen, and they held my dog forcefully and as they were putting the needle in, my dog started crying and freaking out and they just injected him.... He died scared and hurt. It made me feel very upset that he wasn't calm when he passed away. I recommend that you bring your pet somewhere else.

Big busy place were you are a number. You wait for ever on the line just to book an appointment. There is a good vet there, the young tall gentleman is a good vet and is a natural with animals, not so much for the lady vet we had to deal with. She also has magic finger apparently where she guesses weight by just touching without consideration for height and size... Lots of better places with a more caring and personal touch in HRM. She struggled to get through the exam which I had never experience in my life before with any dog I ever had. Enough that I had to intervene to get the dog calm and allow her to do what she needed. She didn't like being shown on to keep a dog calm for an exam.

I enjoy having this clinic as my go to animal hospital. I have had had two cats each with this hospital as their main location, the staff are helpful and I find the vets are kind and informative. The location gets quite busy, and as with regular hospitals sometimes the "patients" are not too cooperative, so have patience with the hospital staff doing their job. As well, I am pleased with the way they are handling the response to COVID-19 while still providing great care for our fluffy little friends.

They have been incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and sympathetic. I really appreciate the service I've received over the years and definitely recommend this practice.

Always helpful, caring, compassionate staff. Our old girl was struggling, and ee'd been having regular checkins and check ups with her vets every couple of months. A brief conversation with the front desk, a chat with the vet, and we were in later that morning for her last visit. The staff do everything they can to make the whole thing as easy as possible, even with covid restrictions. A follow up card signed by all the staff is an appreciated gesture. We have taken our dogs to Carnegy Animal Hospital for more than 20 years, and will continue to trust them to keep our pets in their best health.

Amazingly friendly staff, very reasonably priced, veterinarians try to save you as much money as possible. My last 2 vets charged 300$+ each visit due to the flow of medication and ointments they pushed. Each visit here has been around 150$ and each time the vet has recommended some alternatives for minor things to help the animal be more comfortable or heal faster without breaking the bank!

The staff is friendly and helpful but beware of their quotes for services. I have been using this veterinary clinic for over 10 years and not once have they quoted me proper prices for medical services rendered for my pets. They have always been on the pricey side for services and purchases. With that said, they do give a 10% discount on products and medicines for return customers. Still a great place and I feel my pets are safe while in their care.

This is not the same Carnegy Animal Hospital it used to be. Extremely poor service and care. Since the sale, it is only run as a business and money focused. It is not longer animal focused and they don't care if your animal is sick. Doctors don't respond to emails or have emergency appointments, they tell you to book an appointment 2 weeks out and talk to the receptionist. Extremely disappointed as I used to love Dr. Carnegy and the practice.

We took our four-month old kitten to this vet clinic. He had been very sick for two days throwing up and not eating. The first visit cost over $400 which included an x-ray. The next day, they did a more comprehensive x-ray with barium and still didn't know what was blocking his system. That visit was over $500. They said they needed to do surgery which would be in the range of $2,000 to $3,000. We took him to a vet in Truro who did another x-ray and found the obstruction had moved and waited patiently. A few hours later the blockage cleared on its own WITHOUT SURGERY. With Carnegy clinic looking after the kitten he would have suffered major surgery and long recovery time. We will never go there again.

TERRIBLE customer service and even WORSE veterinary service. i have bean bringing my cat to this vet for over 6 years and he has developed a rash on his neck . they prescribed him with creams and steroid pills. The rash did not clear from their treatment but did improve from the pills . i went back and asked for more steroid pills and was told no he needs a strong injections which has an extremely high risk of developing diabetes . they always insisted this was the only way to treat the rash successfully. As i was not ready to allow my animal to develop a health issue . so i took him to another clinic where scrapings were done and i was provided with more steroid pills and also antibacterial medication. i was also informed if these steroid pills do not work this time that the rash can be surgically removed with absolutely no risk of diabetes. i am absolutely horrified that they were ready, willing and pushing to give him an injection that could cause him to become diabetic for the rest of his life. i was also shuffled off more then one time with my little dog . they have so many customers at this location being around for so long that they do not care like they should for their patients . very very disappointed and i will never be back.
